communication with students about important dimensions of the learning
process at distinct stages of that process. Classroom-Based assessment
should occur throughout the entire instructional process and not only

4. Pre-Assessment Pre-assessment is communication, questioning, or
another investigation that occurs before a learning
sequence (i.e., an activity, lesson, or unit) takes place. Its
primary purpose is to ascertain students’ readiness for the
