A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
Period 2 presentation slide
1. What’s the significance?
Thanksgiving is a time to
be thankful of what you
have, such as family, a
home, friends, and food to
eat. At the meal of
thanksgiving, it is normal
to say what you're
thankful for.

2. For thanksgiving, the family gathers together in one house. Usually, there is one celebration
for the entire family (including aunts, cousins, and other family members). There is one big
table decorated with leaves, pumpkins, and autumn decorations.
Thanksgiving is a special day of
the year where family and close
friends can enjoy spending time
together, and be grateful for each
other.

3. The History of Thanksgiving
In late fall, 1621, a colony of
European people who were living in
America had no food.
Then, a Native American named Squanto helped the
Europeans by teaching them how to plant corn, and giving
them food for the winter ahead.
4. Becoming A Holiday
● Thanksgiving proclamations were made mostly by
church leaders in New England up until 1682, and then
by both state and church leaders until after the
American Revolution.
● As President of the United States, George Washington
proclaimed the first nationwide thanksgiving celebration
in America on November 26, 1789
5. Fixing the Date
● Thanksgiving in the United
States was observed on
various dates throughout
history. In 1800s, the date that
Thanksgiving was observed
varied from state to state.
● On December 26, 1941,
President Franklin Roosevelt
signed a joint resolution of
Congress changing the
national Thanksgiving Day
from the last Thursday in
November to the fourth
Thursday.
7. DESSERTDesserts

delicious meal; dessert. These
tasty treats include: apple
crisp, Thanksgiving cakes,
sweet potato pies, pecan pies,
apple pies, blueberry pies,
pear pies, pecan pies,
pumpkin pies, cranberry pies,

Many people love to watch football on
Thanksgiving. It is a tradition for some people
to watch the big games after and before they
have eaten, and are relaxing. This is
sometimes called the Thanksgiving Bowl.
9. The Dog show on Thanksgiving
The Dog show also shows on
Thanksgiving. Many people enjoy
watching the many different dogs

12. Black Friday
Black Friday is a day when
stores sell stuff for really cheap.
These very cheap prices have
people waiting outside in tents
and people trample others to get
good deals. It kind of looks like
this.
