Consignment question. .
• P Sent to Q 1,000 pieces of goods on consignment basis;
one piece was of Rs. 230. P spent As. 2,200 on packing,
As. 450 on freight and As. 1,400 on insurnce in transit. Q
paid octroi duty amounting to As. 1,200 and cartage of
1100 to bring goods to his godowns. In course of time Q
also spent Rs. 1600 on insurance and rent of godown
and paid Rs. 4,000 as salaries to salesman. Q reported
that he had sold 800 pieces @ 305 per piece. Q is
entitled toa commission @ 5% of gross sales.How the
unsold stock will be valued and prepare Consignment

Closing stock. . .
• While calculating closing stock, take into
account all the non-recurring expenses.

• Consignor spent Rs. 4050 (all non-
recurring) + consignee’s following
expenses: octroi, cartage, = 6350


Bill discounting
• Goti owed Mayank Rs. 10,000. On 2nd January,
2008 Goti accepted four bills of exchange drawn
by Mayank to discharge the debt. The first for As.
1,000 at one month, the second for Rs. 2,000 at
two months, the third for Rs. 3,000 at three
months and the last one for As. 4,000 at four
months. On 15th January Mayank sent the first
bill to the hank for collection. On 17th January he
endorsed the second bill in favour of Monu.
• On 5th February, he got the fourth bill
discounted with the bank @16% p.a. The first
three bills were duly honored but the fourth one
(i.e. the discounted one) was dishonoured on the
due date, noting charges being As. 25.
• Show journal entries and important ledger
accounts in the books of Goti as well Mayank.
