Reflection is key
Start by setting some time aside to reflect on 2017. Think about where you
are right now, where do you want to be? Acknowledge that there are certain
things you can do differently this year in order to get what you want. This will
help you set better goals for 2018!

Understand your values
Values are those things that you consider to be most important and meaningful to
you. When your goals are aligned to your values, you are inspired to take actions
and make them happen! Understanding your own unique values will help make the
journey easier.
You may ask, why values? Our values motivate our behaviors and when you
understand what those are, you will align your goals to what you value most.
Questions to help understand your values:
1. How do you spend your time?
2. What dominates your thoughts?
3. What do you visualize most?
4. What topics interest you?
5. What goals stand out in your life and have stood the test of time?

Decide what you want. Write it down
Be specific. You must have a solid view of your end goal. When you write
things down, you commit yourself to making sure they happen. Make your
goals time bound. Set expectations for yourself. Consider both long and short
term goals. Repeat for as many goals you have..

Goal 1: Long term goal: Become the HRD of a multinational organization. Short term
goal: Register for my MBA course in June 2018.

Create your own action plan
Most of the times we don’t achieve our goals is because we ‘make excuses’
why it cannot happen. Eliminate excuses! Start creating an action plan. List
down all the steps you need to take, next to each – set a timeframe and make
a habit to start tracking progress against each step/s.

Have faith in yourself. All things are possible if you believe you can and you can!
Be brave enough to accept that sometimes not everything will go as per your
plan but don’t lose hope. Never give up.
Believe in yourself! Stay focused. Remain positive.
Positive thoughts = positive actions
Another thing to consider, is to keep an open mind. Be flexible and willing to
adjust when needed. Life changes, goals change too.. Be open and accepting to
that too, who knows, it may even lead to better things.
