Lecture Theatre
Conventional class room lectures form the bedrock of case
studies, assignments, group projects, seminars, debates,
role playing and psycho-analysis that help in further
development of the student. Field work and guest lectures
are applied to give critical practical orientation. The idea
behind the whole academic exercise is not to make
students exam oriented but business inclined for the
industry.

Training Restaurant & Bar
A training restaurant and bar, equipped to cater to
national and international cuisines, provide latest
techniques of service at par with the industry. Training for
buffets, banquets, etc. is also provided in these labs.
Additionally, Swosti Premium Hotel at a walking
distance, will be benefitting students to acquire first hand
quality professional experience.
Basic Training Kitchen
Basic kitchen is fully equipped with most ultra modern
catering equipments & appliances. Basic Training Kitchen is
used primarily to introduce the art of cookery to the students.
It is the launching pad for newcomers. Familiarity with the art
and science of cooking is indeed an essential part of the
modern hospitality operation

Quantity Food Training Kitchen
The kitchen is primarily used to impart training to students on
Indian and Continental Cuisine and for preparing food in bulk
for banquets & parties. Additionally, Swosti Premium Hotel at a
walking distance, will be benefitting students to acquire first
hand quality professional experience.
Advance Training Kitchen
After mastering the basics, the next move of the students is a
specialization in the art of cooking. This kitchen boasts of the
best of the state-of-the-art equipment and hotel kitchen
simulation. Elaborate dishes are prepared here. The cuisines
under consideration are Indian, Chinese, Continental, South
Indian, Odishi, etc. Additionally, Swosti Premium Hotel at a
walking distance, will be benefitting students to acquire first
hand quality professional experience.

Bakery & Confectionery
The Bakery & Confectionery Lab will be used for all the baking
and confectionary requirements as per the syllabus. Students
will produce some of the most exquisite breads, cakes,
chocolates, pastries & desserts here. Additionally, Swosti
Premium Hotel at a walking distance, will be benefitting
students to acquire first hand quality professional experience.
Front Office Lab
The front office lab, which is considered the first point of
contact with guests, will include a reception desk, EPABX, well
decorated lobby, bell desk, lobby manager desk and a lounge
area. In this lab, the students are trained for receiving
information, billing, guest registration and guest relation. In
addition, emphasis is on manners, courtesy, communication
skills, social skills, and handling of different type of situations.

experience.

House Keeping Lab
The housekeeping lab is equipped with the most modern
equipments and guest supplies and linen, required for
accommodation upkeep and other related jobs. Additionally,
Swosti Premium Hotel at a walking distance, will be benefitting
students to acquire first hand quality professional experience.
Guest Rooms
The institute has two ultra modern guest rooms to gives students
hand on experience on operations and management of the guest
rooms. Additionally, Swosti Premium Hotel at a walking
distance, will be benefitting students to acquire first hand quality
professional experience.

Computer Lab
The institute has a well equipped computer lab, where students are
taught the use of latest information technologies in day-to-day
management. The lab is on multi-user environment. The students
are extensively exposed to the use of standard software packages and
their utilization in management problem solving.

Library
Students of SIMSS have access to large number of books, resource
materials and magazines. The institute maintains an air conditioned
library for its students, which contains books and periodicals,
newspapers and magazines.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME
1. To provide skill based education to students currently pursuing

higher education but actually interested in entering the work force
at the earliest opportunity
2. To provide employable and certifiable skills to +2 pass out not
willing to join existing higher education system.
3. To provide opportunities for community based life long learning by
offering courses of general interest to the community.
4. To acknowledge and certify the knowledge and skills available with
a person and their up gradation to a certifiable level. Skill
development has been an integral part of education system world
wide, be at USA, Germany, Canada, UK, Japan and China.
SCOPE OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE
1.Community college provides ample opportunities

to the drop out students to make a meaning full
beginning to a successful career.
2.Students are trained to achieve practical
knowledge and make themselves master of a
particular trade.
3.To give community college students a certificate
which would provide a dignified job in the
organized sector.
4.Multi Entry & Multi exit
TARGET GROUP
Students whose age is in between 18 to 28
yrs are eligible to apply to their respective
college which are designated by the Govt. of
Odisha under the ages department of
higher education in the seven Govt.
Autonomous colleges in the seven
respective districts of Odisha.
NATURE OF TRAINING
The students will be
trained in a particular
field basing on their
respective skill and
affinity. This training is
divided in to two
parts.
TRAINING SCHEDULE
All the students of Tourism and Hospitality will be theoretically
exposed for a period of three months initially and then they will
be moved to Bhubaneswar to SIMSS campus for internship for
three months and they have to return back to college for another
three months before appearing the final Diploma examination.

During internship all students will be provided with all
three meals (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) at BBSR,
schedule being breakfast and lunch at college and
dinner proved at their accommodation establishment
(single destination only)
TRAINING SCHEDULE
Accommodation to the students during internship
at Bhubaneswar will be provided complimentary
by the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha
Out of the four colleges only two colleges will be
accommodated at one time and there will be two
session which will be April, May and June - July,
August and September
DURATION
The total course duration will be 1010 hours. Schedule as below:(Tourism & Hospitality)
Theory – 480 hours (Respective Colleges)
Food Production Practical-330 hrs
F&B Service Practical-100hrs
Front Office Practical-50hrs
Housekeeping Practical-50hrs
N.B- All practical will be held at SIMSS campus , BBSR

For Retail Management practical oriented on the job training 530 hrs in the
respective retail outlets within districts/state or outside of states
EXAMINATION, QUESTION PAPER AND
CERTIFICATION
 Examination will be conducted by SIMSS in their

respective colleges under supervision and guidance of the
concerned University and the community college.
 Question paper will be set by SIMSS in co-ordination
with the concerned University.
 Correction will be done by SIMSS & result publication by
the concerned University(Notice board and official
website)
 Certification by the concerned University.
INTERNSHIP
Every students has to undertake internship
for the period of three months for practical
exposure, live demonstration and learning
the trade off front.
During
internship
students
food,
accommodation is provided for Tourism and
Hospitality at BBSR and the retail students will
be trained in their respective districts in
respective retail outlets (students will be
encouraged to take up assignment outside the
states with their own consent.
PLACEMENT, SALARY & STIPEND
Their will be 100% placement guarantee
from SIMSS to all the successful pass out
students of community college.
Semi skilled Rs:4485/- to 5500/(entry level) including statutory
provision as prevalent in the
state of Odisha or rest of India.

To motivate the students, to continue their studie
each and every students will be provided with
monthly stipend of Rs:1000/- only.

To provide skill based education to students currently pursuing higher education but actually interested in entering the work force at the earliest opportunity 2. SCOPE OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE 1.Community college provides ample opportunities to the drop out students to make a meaning full beginning to a successful career. 2.Students are trained to achieve practical knowledge and make themselves master of a particular trade. 3.To give community college students a certificate which would provide a dignified job in the organized sector. 4.Multi Entry & Multi exit
  • 35. TARGET GROUP Students whose age is in between 18 to 28 yrs are eligible to apply to their respective college which are designated by the Govt. of Odisha under the ages department of higher education in the seven Govt. Autonomous colleges in the seven respective districts of Odisha.
  • 36. NATURE OF TRAINING The students will be trained in a particular field basing on their respective skill and affinity. This training is divided in to two parts.
  • 37. TRAINING SCHEDULE All the students of Tourism and Hospitality will be theoretically exposed for a period of three months initially and then they will be moved to Bhubaneswar to SIMSS campus for internship for three months and they have to return back to college for another three months before appearing the final Diploma examination. During internship all students will be provided with all three meals (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) at BBSR, schedule being breakfast and lunch at college and dinner proved at their accommodation establishment (single destination only)
  • 38. TRAINING SCHEDULE Accommodation to the students during internship at Bhubaneswar will be provided complimentary by the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha Out of the four colleges only two colleges will be accommodated at one time and there will be two session which will be April, May and June - July, August and September
  • 39. DURATION The total course duration will be 1010 hours. Schedule as below:(Tourism & Hospitality) Theory – 480 hours (Respective Colleges) Food Production Practical-330 hrs F&B Service Practical-100hrs Front Office Practical-50hrs Housekeeping Practical-50hrs N.B- All practical will be held at SIMSS campus , BBSR For Retail Management practical oriented on the job training 530 hrs in the respective retail outlets within districts/state or outside of states
  • 40. EXAMINATION, QUESTION PAPER AND CERTIFICATION  Examination will be conducted by SIMSS in their respective colleges under supervision and guidance of the concerned University and the community college.  Question paper will be set by SIMSS in co-ordination with the concerned University.  Correction will be done by SIMSS & result publication by the concerned University(Notice board and official website)  Certification by the concerned University.
  • 41. INTERNSHIP Every students has to undertake internship for the period of three months for practical exposure, live demonstration and learning the trade off front. During internship students food, accommodation is provided for Tourism and Hospitality at BBSR and the retail students will be trained in their respective districts in respective retail outlets (students will be encouraged to take up assignment outside the states with their own consent.
  • 42. PLACEMENT, SALARY & STIPEND Their will be 100% placement guarantee from SIMSS to all the successful pass out students of community college. Semi skilled Rs:4485/- to 5500/(entry level) including statutory provision as prevalent in the state of Odisha or rest of India. To motivate the students, to continue their studie each and every students will be provided with monthly stipend of Rs:1000/- only.
