3. The 2010 Haitian Earthquake
The earthquake in Haiti occurred on
January 12, 2010, causing catastrophic
damage to the country's capital city,
Port-au-Prince. The disaster rated a 7
on the Richter scale. At the time of the
earthquake, Haiti ranked among the

4. Efforts of the 911 FUND
In early 2010, the 911 FUND readied a medical team and
a 40-foot trailer containing medical supplies for
transport from Miami to Haiti. Dr. Hittmann coordinated
with the Urban Search and Rescue team leader, who was
then based out of Peytonville, Haiti. Further, Dale Clear, a
first responder affiliated with the 911 FUND, helped the
Buffalo Friends of Haiti ship relief supplies to the
earthquake-stricken nation.
