2. THE CHALLENGE
The Challenge
The Customer is extending his E-Commerce
system and integrating it with other corporate
systems. Growing system design and technical
maintenance costs called for the development
of an E-Commerce system.
The customer’s corporate management has set
the task of reducing IT costs and client
service-related risks. The solution options
considered resulted in concluding a contract
with the SMISS company.
Company
Overview

German wholesale
and retail companies
selling different goods
(large and small home
appliances, consumer
goods, clothing, etc.)
in Germany.
The group also makes
wholesale deliveries
of these goods to
other European
countries and to the
Middle East.
3. THE SOLUTION
The Solution
When a contract with SMISS was concluded,
a contractor in Hungary and a team of
customer’s design personnel were also
involved in the project.
After a year of collaboration, system design
was transferred completely to SMISS.
Project objectives:
Development of an
E-Commerce solution;
Development of a point of sale
(POS) system;
Maintenance of the
E-Commerce and POS solutions;
Upgrading and maintenance
of the inventory and accounting
management systems;
Development of a system user
interface as well as implementation
of distributed communication
facilities based on web services
with transaction and persistent
queues support;
About
The Project
The project involves
development of
several integrated
systems:
E-Commerce
solution
(http://lianjo.de/) –
System for online
auctions and sales of
B2B class. The system
has functionality for
setting up partner
shops with easily
changeable design as
well as for centralised
management based
on a flexible privileges
mechanism.
4. THE SOLUTION
Design/upgrade of the DB;
Integration of the web-based
solution with the supermarket POS
hardware;
Generation of bar codes.
Development of VoIP functionality based on
Asterisk with IVR functions, generation of
voice records based on dynamic data from the
DB, recognition of subscriber’s voice
instructions, and integration with Skype.
SMISS’ own product - a referral system for
evaluating the sources of origination of clients
and ROI valuation, has been integrated into
the E-Commerce solution during design.
During the project development regular
collaboration is maintained with the
Hungarian company who developed the МКМ
solution, which is integrated with the E-
Commerce solution and the ERP system.
Computerised
inventory
management,
accounting system
– an automated
system for inventory
management and
accounting with
extended capabilities
in generating
statistical reports and
import/export of data
from/to external
systems.
5. THE RESULTS
The Results
The result of collaboration with the Customer
is gradual involvement of SMISS in system
design. The Ukrainian party has a stable team
of developers, project managers and system
administrators who are in steady
communication with German managers by e-
mail and over voice channels.
The Ukrainian back office is tightly integrated
into the business processes of the customer’s
company by delivering technical support,
servicing the developed solution and regularly
extending the functionality. Ukrainian
specialists also deliver support to integration
of solutions during their business trips to
Germany.
Collaboration of the customer company with
SMISS solves the problems of optimising IT
costs and reducing risks.
A Web-based full-
featured
centralised point of
sale system
in a chain of
