Martin Luther s Theology Of The Cross
Furthermore, Luther s Theology of the cross helps us to see God incarnate, with us, Emmanuel, even
in the suffering and death of the crucified one, God s only son, Jesus. It is in this suffering that we
know that God is with us. In a very human way, God takes on the fate of the world, to destroy human
flesh through Jesus, the incarnation. God does change, suffer and die. It is God alone, and nothing we
do. God does all the heavy lifting for our sake, and it is a gift. Jesus gives us an example of someone
who loves us so deeply, that he is willing to lay down his life.

Pietism took Justification one step forward towards Sanctification. This researcher would argue
alongside the Pietist and even further to state that conversion is a process. It can be a part of a one
time even, Luther s Tower experience, or apart of a going formation/activity. This is key to the
teaching of discipleship as it relates to the African American experience, these historic roots, help me
1) to prove the case that Lutheran can and has been involved in such practices of conversion almost
since the very beginning. 2) It gives me examples of a unique blend, which fostered and gave birth to
the Great Awakening and the Revivalist movement in America. 3) The Invitation to Discipleship, may
have originated as a part of the Sacrament of the Altar, Communion, as it invites believers to come
forward, responding to the invitation that comes from God to share in his holy sacrament of his body
and blood. It is here that we meet the crucified

This project examines the construction of subjectivity in...
This project examines the construction of subjectivity in Eleanor Antin s Carving: A Traditional
Sculpture (fig. 1) and Chris Kraus Aliens and Anorexia (fig. 2) . These works inscribe notions of the
self, the social, and the subject through and upon the body, addressing the interpolating poles of
nutritive consumption and willing the body away through self starvation. Throughout this essay, I will
demonstrate how these artists engage with the spaces and discourses created around food and
disordered eating to produce a counter dominant take on subjectivity, a thematic both artists attend to
regularly throughout their careers.
My reading prioritizes theories of the body, subjectivity, consumption, gender and difference, refusing

Before attending to theoretical concerns I will first ground my reading in art historical methods,
explicating the position of these works within Antin and Kraus larger oeuvres and within the historical
contexts of their production. An analysis of form and medium also underlines a reading of these works
that privileges self and subjectivity. In Carving, A Traditional Sculpture and Aliens and Anorexia, the
live or temporal practices common throughout Antin and Kraus careers are respectively mediated
through photography and texts. By removing the material body from works that are essentially
performative, the artist looks back over herself, commenting on, while creating her own lived
subjectivity.
I chose to position these two works together because, as Clare Johnson states in her study of Antin,
Vanessa Beecroft, and Elizabeth Manchester, I want to discuss the artworks in terms that do not
presuppose a proper form of feminist art practice, or suggest that the contemporary work supersedes
the critical strategies of the earlier piece. Johnson s articulated aims are not to claim any single artist
or artwork as feminist, per se, but to create rich and complex readings that articulate the inscriptions of
feminist practice and reflect the relational web of mutually constitutive meanings. This web frames a
discussion of Kraus and Antin s work, allowing for a critical co reading of works produced at different

Two Other Philosophers, John Locke, And George Berkeley
Two other philosophers, John Locke, and George Berkeley have shown similar theories to the
discussion from the ideas presented by Plato. Unlike Plato who argues that we cannot determine what
is true or real based on experience, Locke argues that all knowledge which we use to determine what
is true or real comes from experience. And similar to Plato, Berkeley argues that only our ideas are the
only thing that is real. Locke also argues in his essay that knowledge is not something people are born
with. Locke differs from Plato, because Plato believes we do not know the true or ideal state of
something. This is so because on Earth the physical realm, we only experience shadows , or
reflections of the perfect ideal objects we have in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Locke s second point in his argument is that knowledge comes from the senses and how we perceive
the world. This means that all the knowledge society has acquired comes from the observations and
reasoning people have made based on their perceptions. In his essay, Locke presents the idea of two
fountains of knowledge. These fountains of knowledge is where all the ideas that we can have have
come from. The first fountain of knowledge is sensation, which involves all the five senses of the
human body. It is because of sensation we have ideas such as hot, the color orange, sweet, and bright.
The second fountain of knowledge is experience, which helps explain the things we perceive from the
first sense, such as reasoning, thinking, and knowing. Locke then separates experience into two
categories, primary and secondary qualities. Primary qualities are qualities that an object can have
without us needing to sense it such as size of an object or the way it is moving. An object will already
have these qualities regardless if a person recognizes them or not. Secondary qualities are the other
qualities such as color, or the sound an object makes when it hits the floor. These our qualities that
exist in our mind, not qualities that an object has already on its own. A great example is wine. When it
comes to wine many people have different experiences on how a wine tastes. Imagine one bottle of
wine that is sampled by two different

Manchester United case Essay
Strategic Management: Case Study. Team 5. Manchester United: Looking Beyond 2011 12 Season. By
the year of 2011 Sir Alex Ferguson was working hard to keep succeeding as he has been doing it since
his arrival with Manchester United. Key acquisitions, new line ups and strategic decisions had been
made. In the other side of the enterprise , let s say the commercial and financial side, Mr. David Gill;
current CEO of Manchester United was as well making strategic decisions within the club. For
instance the headquarters needed to me relocated due to the large amount of staff that was working
within the club by those years. David Gill was also in charge of the main 3 sources of the club s
revenue: Match day revenues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other brands are associated with specific licensing deals such as Red Cafes and Theatre of Dreams
restaurants. Other sources for Manchester come from different partners like Audi and Budweiser just
to mention a couple. Is important to mention also that part of these revenues come from the summer
programs that are being done within the United States and Asia, places (specially Asia) in which
Manchester United has an immense fan base. Being broadcasting the most important with a total of
37% of the total revenue, while match day and sponsorship/commercial revenues with 35% and 28%
respectively. The case also mentioned that Manchester United had some financial issues due to the
outrageous acquisition financed by debt. Besides those debt issues, we can state that Manchester
United is quite stable and performs extremely well financially speaking. After analyzing this we cab
make some proposals for keeping the strong performance they have now: To keep going and to make
stronger and log term alliances with the current sponsors, as well as with the TV partners the Club has.
The stadium has just been rebuilt so besides the promotion that Manchester can make, there are not
additional changes that can substantially help the already huge attendance to increase. However there
is one change that Manchester can do and will lead the club towards a more transparent, efficient and
with less debt future, and the change is

The Condemnation of Marcus Brutus
We ll attack when we re told, And submit should he scold, For we re old Pa Ubu s dogs of war (Taylor
31) is the mantra and role of Brutus from Ubu and the Truth Commission by Jane Taylor. This play
tells the complicated story of South African politics and highlights the failures of the Truth and
Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in its attempts to heal the wounds of South Africa and bring justice
in the transition from Apartheid. In Act Five: Scene One we see the condemnation and trial of Brutus,
the three headed dog and co conspirator of Pa Ubu, and through this can draw a direct parallel to the
real life difficulties that were encountered by South Africa when trying the political players involved
in Apartheid. Taylor uses this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking into the sentencing of this Brutus helps to draw even more parallels to real life instances that
the TRC came across. The sentence that was delivered upon the First Brutus was two hundred and
twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact that this First Brutus was the source that performed these
acts, and the victims had identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary
number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De Kock. De Kock was
the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a secret force that was responsible for
multiple bombings and murders during the height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh,
and Schlosser 190). De Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping,
torture, and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role that the first
head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this head of Brutus Jane Taylor
highlights the reality of the court system at the end of apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of
justice served upon the first head of Brutus. The second head of Brutus was described as being a high
member in the chain of command of the military. He was not one of the people out on the assaults that
took place, but rather was behind the scenes, helping

Overwhelming Thoughts And Circumstances Can Suck That Life
Overwhelming thoughts and circumstances can suck that life out of a person. Through a slow but sure
process, I now identify myself as a culprit of stress. For example, I have entrapped myself in the pit of
going from one extreme to another, contributing to my pessimist onlook on life. Further, when I
observe a buildup of someone neglecting to pursue their priorities, I can vent out in anger at that
person. Also, if I do not put my thoughts into actions, I set myself up for negative experiences in
relationships. Though I am pessimistic, struggle with anger, and have dealt with hurt in a relationship,
I targeted these issues and chose to learn from them.

From my test score regarding anger, I found out that I have a naturally moderate level of anger. People
can experience extreme bouts of agitation in ways involving delays, lack of resources, losses, or
failures. An example of my anger occurs in the category of delays. When my siblings do not pick up
after themselves, bitterness towards them can increase within me. Moreover, due to my somewhat
bossy personality, my siblings consider me the mother in my household. Thus, when I acknowledge
someone s laziness in their responsibilities, typically, I ask the slacker to do her job again. Yet, when I
begin to see that sibling constantly forgetting to do that specific job, anger within me can harbor.
Immediately, I make assumptions as to why she acts that way and can feel stressed out about the
problem.
Next, I angrily communicate the sibling s downfall considering the assumption I have of her, and I tell
her how she must fix the problem. Without asking why she did not do her job, I insensitively corrected
her. Or if the sibling has an explanation for her lethargy, I resist to show sympathy because of my
frustration at the moment. However, after a scenario like this, I then can feel distressed at my own
pride of thinking that I am right and my sibling is wrong. In the end, I identify that usually I am the
one more in the wrong than the sibling, taking the path of humility. Therefore, after an argument with
a sibling and once my anger has calmed down enough, I go back to

Bowlby s theory is fundamentally, based on scientific findings on early attachment development from
childhood to adulthood (Fischer, 2006). He observed that infants separated from their parents or
caregivers are emotionally distressed. Bowlby believed that individual s behavior could be naturally
well understood through the analysis of characteristic exploration that is connected with
psychodynamic affiliation. Bowlby s exodus from the traditional psychoanalytic theory at that time,
earned him many years of hatred by his pears. It was after his death in 1990 that the British analytic
community issued a formal apology to his family for their negative action against him (Fischer, 2006).

New Atlantis By William Harvey
London, in the seventeenth century, underwent a progressive epistemological shift. In this period, the
intellectual paradigm slowly transitioned from a model wherein religious dogma, mysticism, and class
structure were the progenitors of thought to a model wherein scientific empiricism informed
discovery. Although there was a conflict between these ideological frameworks, we should not see this
confrontation of epistemologies as an overt and adversarial crisis of thought. Rather, the people
responsible for confronting the antique with the scientific often attempted to consolidate their
ideologies with those ideologies they were subtly challenging; they attempted to act within the
framework which they rejected. In this essay, we will explore this nearly contradictory sentiment by
examining four scientific works: On the Motion of the Heart, by William Harvey, Micrographia, by
Robert Hooke, New Atlantis and The Great Instauration, by Francis Bacon, and 153 Chymical
Aphorisms, by Chr. Packe. These four texts emerged from three distinct modes of scientific inquiry:

traditional society. The first priority of the society, for instance, is not the acquisition of empirical
knowledge, but rather adherence to a Christian dogma. When Bacon asked the governor of Bensalem
how his culture came to embrace Christianity, the governor responds, Ye knit my heart to you, by
asking this question in the first place; for it sheweth that you first seek the kingdom of heaven. With
this quote, Bacon established that notions of divinity and salvation supercede any question of
knowledge attainment, and he therefore operated within Christian power

Southcentral Alaska is a diverse land of moderate rainfall and pleasant climate. The long days of
summer make the Matanuska Valley the breadbasket of Alaska, and oversized fruits and vegetables are
routinely produced there. Intermittent rain squalls are the rule along the coast, while the broad valleys
farther inland typically enjoy sunnier weather. Craggy ranges line the valleys, with peaks that rise well
above the timberline. Dense brush is prevalent at lower elevations, and a limited system of trails
provides the best option for accessing the high country. Deep winter snows provide the moisture
needed to maintain the region s lush vegetation. Because of its inland location, Missouri frequently
experiences changes in temperature. Winters are cold and summers are hot, prolonged periods of very
cold or very hot weather are unusual. Occasional periods of mild, above freezing temperatures are
noted almost every winter. Conversely, during the peak of the summer season, occasional periods of
dry cool weather break up stretches of hot, humid weather. Temperatures below zero are infrequent,

people were a part of the movements than ever. Citizens of the Woodstock nation claimed to have

Tobias Wolff Character Analysis
Tobias Wolff is a figure meaningful of an age when the journal has to a great extent supplanted the
novel as a wellspring of riveting account and good reverberation.
Wolff, all things considered, has (up until this point) crushed not one but rather two journals out of the
tale of his life.
Additionally, his senior sibling, the writer Geoffrey Wolff, is the writer of another extraordinary
family diary, The Duke of Deception, distributed in 1979.
It is said that the mother of both Tobias and Geoffrey, subsequent to pursuing her children s journals,
remarked, with the blend of pride, fear, and help that such private presentation can motivate: Well, I
figure that is it. Those are the main young men I have cleared out.
The lives of Geoffrey and Tobias Wolff are very noteworthy.
They spent their young people, generally, at various closures of the United States, Tobias trekking
west with his lenient yet flexible mother, Geoffrey remaining east with their dad, an adorable liar and
cheat.
(Geoffrey shows up as the far off abstract sibling carrying on with the understudy life at Princeton in
Wolff s first journal, This Boy s Life.)
The Wolff siblings are presently said to be very close.
Incredibly they both found splendid material inside their individual family structures however were all
things considered outsiders as their abstract sensibilities were framing.
One significant contrast between the siblings is Tobias attack into the wildernesses of Vietnam in the

look into it more ( Uranus Discovered: Completely By Accident ). William Herschel believed the
object to be a nebular star or comet located in the spot of Uranus (Herschel, 260). While checking out
this object with his telescope and then talking for many months to his colleagues, they studied this
celestial object and observed that it had a planet like orbit. After realizing its orbit they saw that it also
did not have a tail like a comet would normally have, thus leading to the realization and exciting
conclusion that it was in fact a planet in the solar

The Effect Of Shear Force On The Diameter Of The Rod Essay
Lab # 1 Christian Axios Submitted: October, 4 2016 By: Christian Axios Partner: Coby Bryant
Reviewed by: Connor Shoening Section: 27 I. Abstract: Over the course of the last few weeks my lab
partner and I have conducted tests on different material of metal rods. During this time, we collected
data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up with a report
including statements about the significance and importance of their designated yield strength. II.
Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of affect that the shear
force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear stress and since the lab
procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were able to divide our answer by
two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean modulus of rigidity based on the
two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the changing variables such as diameter
and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula: (1) We used this equation along with the
force and displacement data to determine the normal stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. P is
the applied load and A is the cross sectional area of our sample. (2) This next equation was used to
find the strain. This result is calculated in order to find the ratio of the change in length to the original
length. ____ is the amount of

Citrine Research Paper
Quartz is a continuous framework of the mineral silicon oxygen tetrahedra that makes up the second
most common mineral found in the earth s crust. Citrine is a variation of quartz that is gemstone
quality and is a pale yellow to golden orange in color whose name comes from the french word Citron,
meaning Lemon. Most citrine available today is manufactured by a heat treatment that forms the
golden color. Natural citrine is fairly rare so it is more valuable and generally ranges from a light
yellow to golden and often has brown undertones. Deeper colors of golden to golden brown are
considered more desirable and more rare. Most heat treated citrine will show slight reddish tints, not
usually present in natural citrine. The color is formed by oxidation levels of iron ions in the quartz, as
the mineral is heated the oxidation of the color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stone amethyst is very similar to citrine and only differs because of the iron levels. In some cases
there is a bicolor formation of the stone which produces both amethyst and citrine colors. This
formation is known as Ametrine. Citrine can be found all over the world, however, notable sources
include Argentina, Bolivia, France, Madagascar, Burma, Namibia, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Uruguay,
Zambia and Brazil which is the world s leading supplier. Magickally yellow is generally associated
with happiness or sunshine, this may have lead to the stone being associated with positive energy.
Citrine has been associated with prosperity and abundance, being used in cash registers for good
fortune, this is seen in Chinese legends and myths where it is known as the stone of success and
believed to increase intellect, thus explaining it s use today by scholars, teachers and students. Due to
the belief that Citrine is a very powerful stone, the chinese believe it should only be given to very
generous people. Due to these associations it is

Sanctuary Cities In 1980
The name sanctuary cities comes from the 1980s protests of federal immigration policies that refused
shelter to refugees from El Salvador and Guatemala. It all began when the Salvadoran government had
inflicted martial law on all its citizens, which in effect pronounced the beginning of mass killings in
the country. The movement was formed to offer protection to these undocumented refugees that were
fleeing the Central American wars that plagued their homes. An estimated 18,000 to 20,000 people
were killed or disappeared in the 1980 s alone. Thousands of Salvadorans fled the violence, coming
north through Mexico to the United States. In July of 1980, two dozen or more Salvadorans who were
crossing the Sonoran Desert were deserted by their

Maku Mishra matches the typical Indian teacher in a village. He is not updated in his knowledge. Dr.
Batstone s conversation with the villagers clearly brings out the superstitious belief of the people
about ghosts. The story of Mahatma Languly shows Manoj Das s brilliant use of narration to make the
seemingly incredible fairly credible. Dr. Batstone listens to the narrations of the villagers and so he
serves as a link among the three stories within the single short story: Story of the Cousin , Story of
Mahatma Languly Baba and Story of the Crocodile s Lady . All the three sstories border on the
element of improbability but, however, the masterly handling of each story by the author renders the
incidents most credible. Languly Baba is said to be 300 years old. The birth of Languly Baba in the
burial ground, his howling for one full day and the way he was guarded from jackals and foxes are
shrouded in mystery. The current generation is doubtful about the exact location of his birth and they
are forced to believe the stories in circulation. So his birthplace is a matter of faith and none of his

The Financial Crisis Of 2007-2008
An excess of regulation, rather than an insufficiency of it, was the principal cause of the recent credit
crunch. The financial crisis of 2007 2008, also known as the Global Financial Crisis and 2008
financial crisis, is considered by some economists such as Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics
and international business at New York University, Kenneth Rogoff, professor of economics and
public policy at Harvard University, and Nariman Behravesh, chief economist and executive vice
president for IHS Global Insight, to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of
the 1930s. All of them agreed that this is a one in fifty years event , however the latest Great
Recession is not a typical cyclical recession of the World Economy and no doubt will last for more
that usual two years (Business Wire, Reuters). The crisis played a significant role in the failure of key
businesses, declines in consumer wealth estimated in trillions of U.S. dollars, and a downturn in
economic activity leading to the 2008 2012 global recession and contributing to the European
sovereign debt crisis. (M. N. Baily, D. J. Elliott, 2009). So what are the cаuses of this crisis? Mаny
factors dirеctly and indirectly caused the Great Recession, with expеrts plаcing different weights upon

Joshua Stark MGMT619 In Class Negotiation The Player Introduction The Player was a negotiation
between the newly appointed Vice President of National Artists Productions (NA) and a successful
Hollywood director. This negotiation could have resulted in the first major motion picture deal that the
producer would have worked on after his promotion to VP. In this negotiation I played the role of the
Vice President. My goal was to reach what I felt was the most satisfactory agreement possible with the
Director. There were 11 issues to negotiate, and each had points associated with them to show the
importance of each issue. The 11 issues included the following: director s base salary, pre production
budget, post production schedule, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt that we could logroll with these two issues and come to a compromise by trading off the desire
for many locations with a low personal budget or visa versa. However, I again noted that I ended up
compromising on both issues. On the location we agreed on 2 locations, this was my resistance point.
On the personal budget we agreed on $650, which was beyond my resistance point. Again, I
communicated my willingness to compromise. I wanted to make a good film and was willing to
collaborate with the director to produce a quality film within budget. My hope was that he would see
that I was willing to scratch his back and that he would reciprocate down the road. The next three
issues we negotiated were editorial control, preproduction budget, and post production schedule.
Again we logrolled with the issues and came to an agreeable decision. The outcome of the negotiation
of this particular bundle was evenly distributed. I felt that the director was willing to collaborate with
me on these issues. I wanted the entire negotiation to follow the concept of the integrative negotiation
process by setting the tone of the negotiation as a win win. Reflecting on how the negotiation was
going to this point I felt that I may have conceded on more of the issues than the director, but the hope
was that the director would concede on the issues that were important to me. I felt I was sensitive to

Risk Factors for Multiple Sclerosis
Familial and heritability studies have suggested a role for genetics in MS (11, 12). According to these
studies, MS does not result from gene mutations or aberrations; rather, polymorphisms in a number of
genes may predispose people to MS. These polymorphisms act independently and each can contribute
a little. Several studies have identified susceptibility genes on chromosome 6p21 and 17q22 in the
coding regions for major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC II) (11 14). Also the interleukin 7
receptor (IL 7R) gene alteration (15 17) and two single nucleotide polymorphisms within the
interleukin 2 receptor alpha (IL 2Ra) coding region have been linked to MS risk (18).
Pathophysiologically, these polymorphisms might have effects on the immune system.
There is no doubt that genetics has revolutionized our understanding about the human diseases.
Regarding MS; however, the practical application of these data has not been acquired yet. Gene
screening for finding patients prone to MS, is neither ethical nor scientifically supported.
In another way, genetic engineering might find some ways to treat MS or prevent further worsening of
the disease. This might work as a secondary or tertiary prevention strategy. Gene manipulation in cell
therapy studies have been experimented in animal models. This type of researches, not directly based
on the mentioned genetic background of MS, shows the effects of administering genetically
engineered cells in correction of some pathogenetic

Social Security Cost Analysis
Giselle: 2009#1 Looking at the numbers, the very tangible loss of money money funneled seemingly
endlessly into space, into technologies that we abandon, into missions that may fail, into promises of
progress ten, twenty, fifty years from now it can be difficult to justify that immediate loss with the
seemingly insufficient immediate gain, the gain of nothing but knowledge so very intangible that it is.
Perhaps this is frustration is born from the fact that we have never done anything like this before we
have never before been able to leave home for something so infinitely vast. We have never before
been faced with the reality that we are so impossibly small. The world has grown so large in such a

In the United States, Social Security comes first, taking about 21% of the federal budget in 2006, with
national defense coming second at 19%. Then, comes income security, Medicare, health, and the
interest incurred by the national debt before all others comes. All others (taking 6% of the federal
budget) refers to a multitude of things, including space and technology, but also including
international affairs, administration of justice, natural resources and environment, agriculture, and
energy, among others (Chamberlain). It is clear that when compared to major federal expenditures,
money funneled to space exploration is so fractional as to not be concisely accounted for. The question
regarding money, however, is not how much, necessarily, is being spent, but if it itself is necessary.
The question of necessity is, itself, difficult to answer no matter the evidence provided. When the
Social Security Act was first introduced as part of Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal, some thought it
was unnecessary. Some argue, today, that the US overspends on its defense sector and has since it
entered WWII. Space is different, though, because it is so very new to us. It is almost completely
unexplored, and surely has a vast wealth of resources useful to those on Earth, but it is neutral, and no
one nation can claim any of those resources. Ultimately, space is a playground for science, and it can
be difficult for the average American (who is not employed in a space technology industry) to justify
funding a venture that seems to be without

Development of Building Codes in
South Korea
Glen Stricot Tarboton
Due 23rd March 2016
Introduction
Seoul, South Korea, has grown rapidly since the Korean War of the 1950 s to become the worlds
second largest metropolitan area with over 23 million residents in 2014 (National Statistics Office ( 통
계청)). This growth has occurred economically as well, with an average GDP increase of 10 percent
between 1962 and 1994 (The World Bank). This report looks into the development of South Korean
building codes. Figure 1: Timeline of Significant Events in South Korea s Building History The 1970 s
oil crisis occurred when an oil embargo was imposed by members of the Organization of Arab
Petroleum Exporting Countries. This led to fuel shortages and high prices around the world
(History.com). Due to Korea s limited resources, it imports all of its coal, oil and natural gas. At the
time of the United States Department of Energy s report into Building Energy Codes in the Republic
of Korea, Korea was the second largest importer of coal and one of the largest for oil and natural gas.
It also reported an emission of 515 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide by the country in the year 2006
(Evans, Chon and Shui).
Early Building Standards
The first official building standard came into effect in 1977. It was a result of the 1970 s oil crisis.
This outlined the mandatory building standards of insulation thickness.

Music Industry Research Paper
Music Industry: Independent vs. Major Record Label
Music is at our fingertips. We can turn on a radio or select a song on a menu and it chimes back at you
the melody of the song you selected. A man named Scott de Martinville of the 18th century was
fascinated by the way photographs preserved images, and he felt as if he could do the same with
sound. The invention of the phonograph was the beginning of the music industry. Musicians could
now use a machine to record their sounds and then publish and dis tribute records. With records came
record labels, the leaders of the music business. Then just like everything else in a capitalist country it
became all about the money, rather than the music. The business aspect of music should be based off
of independent artistry in opposed to corporate wel fare.
Ludwig van Beethoven one of the most talented, prolific, and remembered composers of all time was
an independent artist. One has to wonder, how did composers/musicians make their money 150 years
before labels were established? Beethoven used the same methods as an inde pendent artist would
today. He would do live performances on piano or composing a large or chestra. These performances
would bring profit while expanding popularity just like modernized artists. Beethoven also found
profit in selling his sheet music, patronage, and being an instructor. This was the unintentional start of
independent music, and it continued to be this way until one man decided to industrialize the

Road Not Taken
A reader must consider the words of Robert Frost in The Road Not Taken as carefully as the individual
must consider every choice that finds them as the paths of life intersect (Kirszner Mandell, 2012,
p.624). An individual can get analysis paralysis when they think about each and every choice too
much. People can analyze something to death (Lewis, 2014, p. 517).The individual applies Newton s
third law of motion, to every action there is always opposed and equal reaction and this consideration
can render them into a state of confusion and indecisiveness as they consider the next step (Sharma,
2016, p. 23). Everything we do is a choice and every action has a reaction, therefore as individuals
with free will, we are aware that we are the navigator on our individual path, and not making a choice
has consequences just as surely as making an active choice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the end of a day, a week, or a life, the end result is very different based on each individual road,

p.624). Not only will the individual never gets back to the original path, they will have lost all of the
opportunities the alternate path would open up for them. The individual considers a choice, takes

Analysis Of The Tuesday Wars By S. D. Hollings
Some books are so different even though they are in the same time period.
The authors of these book, S.E. Hinton, The Outsiders, and Gary D. Schmidt, The Wednesday Wars,
did a great job at making these books. The main characters, Ponyboy and Holling, are well thought
out. The Outsiders is a book about a boy who is a gang and have lost his parents. The gang is a part of
the Greasers, the poor kids, who are always attacked by the Socs., the rich kids. One day Ponyboy and
Johnny are attacked and Johnny kills one. They run away where they save kids from a burning church.
They get burns and are rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile Ponyboy and Greasers are having a rumble
with the Socs. After the rumble Johnny dies in the hospital and Dally is killed by police because he
wanted to die. The Wednesday Wars is about a 7th grader who thinks his teacher hates him. He doesn t
have parents who care about him and sister thinks he has no guts. He learns that Mrs. Baker is actually
nice when she helps him practice for events such as the play and track meet. His dad however is only
thinking about business and not about his kids. Holling eventually stands up to him. The characters
have plenty of differences between them from their parents, to the personality, but they have the same
kinds of friends. Ponyboy and Hollings parents are completely different. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy
says to Randy that his parents were really nice but they died in a car accident. My parents are dead. I
live here with just Darry and Soda, my brothers (Hinton, 140) He had good parents but they died and
now he has Darry as a parent making sure he does well in school and about his health too. My father
wasn t there. I guess the Bing Crosby Christmas Special wasn t over yet. ... I decided I would wait for
my father for five minutes. So I counted three hundred Mississippi s. No car. (Schmidt, 59) Holling
was waiting for his dad to come pick him up to drive him to the Sports Emporium. But his father wasn
t there. Even if his father didn t come his mother should of came to pick him up, but she didn t.

Essay On Trade Dispute
History
This section includes a brief history of the trade dispute. It is very important to mention that exchange
rate played a crucial role in these disagreements, but they will be explained in details later in the
paper. It all started in the year 1982, when the US lumber lobbyists submitted a petition to the US
Department of Commerce regarding the unfair practices in Canada; especially to investigate the
stumpage systems in British Colombia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Hence, they claimed their sales
and profits diminished and that they were injured; so they required from Commerce to impose
countervailing duties. In the following year, petition was dismissed on the ground that the stumpage
fees were not specific to any industry or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, countervailing duties of 6.51% were imposed on lumber imports from all provinces in Canada7.
Immediately after, Canada appealed to the Canada U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) about the US the
determination of subsidy, injured firms and putting countervailing duties on their lumber. The panels
ruled in favor of Canada repeatedly and asked the United States to refund the duties. However, the US
delayed in refunding the duties and was planning to do another round of subsidizing investigation;
Canada yet again signed a five year MOU treaty, officially called the Softwood Lumber Agreement
(SLA), in 1996. This was again done to provide stability in the lumber industry. During this year, the
US refunded the past collected duties. Under this agreement, Canada imposed a fixed tax on softwood
production above a specified volume. This was particularly difficult for the British Colombia coastal
forest industry, resulting in layoffs and closures.
There were even further difficulties between the Canada US relations when the US passed the Byrd
Amendment (officially entitled the U.S. Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act of 2000). This
legislation instructed the US Commerce that all of the duties that were collected for a particular good
be distributed to the US injured companies that filed a

Illegal Drug Use And Prostitution
Money is often thought of as the root of all evil because it has been proven time and time again that
some people will do anything to get as much as possible. Some of the most profitable organized
crimes are so successful they are international but often rely on harming others to get ahead. Illegal
drug use, human trafficking and prostitution are three of most lucrative crimes today generating
billions of dollars a year. The money is obtained illegally so the need for money laundering is
essential. Several factors go into each of these issues and some of these issues can easily be tied to one
another. Greed, survival, addiction and emotional needs are just a few factors that drive the businesses
of organized crime. As with any business, money is the fuel that keeps it going. In many cases illegal
drug use, prostitution and money laundering are found to be linked. An example would be a person
turning to prostitution in order to provide the funds necessary to get the drugs that they needed.
Money laundering can also include other sources such as illegally acquired funds through financial
transactions (Adler, Mueller, Laufer, 2013). Issues of illegal drug use, prostitution, and money
laundering will always be a struggling issue in the world of crime.
Americans have had a complicated history with drugs, illegal or otherwise. Up until the early 20th
Century, many substances we now condemn as illegal were, not only legal, but widely used in
products sold to households across

Analysis Of The Little Mermaid
This story is not so fairytale like if we realize that the magical element is actually an unplanned cause
for the little mermaid s death. There is dramatic irony in this excerpt, which leads to the unlikely
fairytale ending. The fairytale can also be called a parody of conventional fairytales hidden as one
itself. In an essay by Vladimir Propp, he explains how when the ending turns out to be tragic, the
expectations of the readers are reversed (Propp 79). The parody and irony led to a somewhat of a
contradiction between a fairytale and a sad love story. However, the difference between a traditional
fairytale and the little mermaid s ending, I believe allows for a sense of tragedy for the readers.
Andersen s, The Little Mermaid title might have hid as a children s story, but the context is written
more for adults. In the article written by Lauren Duca, Duca explains how Disney s adaptation was
made in a different light. Disney s writers wanted children to view adventures in a positive light and
allow for children to go off the beaten path. These films are almost a right of passage. It s a way for
kids to process difficult things in the world. There are always light moments along with the dark. To
me, it s sort of a nice contrast (Duca). The reworking of the story changed the end to make the story
more children appropriate. In the original stories ending, the main character receives no love, and this
lack of development can upset children, because all children want to

Codes and Conventions of Genres Essay
Codes and Conventions of Genres
A genre is a particular type of commodity . It has characteristic features that are known to and
recognised by the audiences because the same formula is reproduced many times.
Genre is a French word meaning that refers to types or categories of media products. Soap operas,
situation comedies, police series, quiz shows and news programmes are just some of the genres to be
found in television. Genres are identified by the particular conventions they use which are recognised
through regular contact. Conventions are any elements which are repeated in such a way that they
become familiar, predictable and associated in their use with a particular genre. ... Show more content

Black or female newsreaders, for example, have been appearing more frequently in recent years
therefore representing equality in society. However if generic conventions are simply repeated over
and over the films made could be dull and too predictable. The filmmaker relies upon conventions but
also mixes them with his or her own version and ideas in order to produce a successfully constructed
form of genre.
Nearly all stories in any genre are about situations which are disrupted by a problem for e.g., a
peaceful village is wrecked by robbers and one of the children is taken hostage, the villages find try to
find ways of getting the child back the good guy is used to help the narrative along and therefore
resolves the problem. The purpose of the story provides tension for the audience, as on the other hand
the audience wish the problem to be solved but on the other hand the audience want the story to
continue in order to maintain the pleasure. Narratives have to operate strategies for both moving
towards a solution and yet simultaneously putting it off by complaints.
Genres are popular because they deal with universal dilemmas and appeal to universal needs. For
example, the dilemmas could be the hero or heroine fighting to clear his or her name; good finally
overcoming evil. Genres are entertaining in their own ways

The fact that you re reading this probably means that you may have been drawn by the intoxicating
promise that stand desks offer. That or you re simply curious to see why they ve been called the future
of workstations. Either way, we re certain that you ll be surprised by the insane amount of sit stand
desk designs out on the market today.
From nifty types that you simply mount on a table to compact designs that afford you impressive
mobility, there are various kinds of stand desks you can choose from. With so many choices up for
grabs, it can be nothing short of tough to determine which one best suits your corporate space. But
whether you go for desktop attachments, DIY stand only types, desk treadmill hybrids, or height
adjustable varieties, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you care if your standing desk is noisy when you re adjusting it?
If you owned manually operable kinds like Luxor crank adjustable desks or LifeSpan Fitness DT5s,
you may have noticed the audible, even loud, metallic noises they make whenever you adjust their
height. That s not to say that their electric counterparts are exempted from this minor flaw, however.
Some electronically powered varieties have been observed to run with relatively noisy motors, too.
Although you may not really mind these nuisances in your own home office, it can possibly be a
disturbance when you work in a shared workspace.

An Integration Center Of The Reflex Arc
An integration center in the reflex arc is a neuropathway that creates a reflex action to activating
neurons to skip the spinal cord and protect your brain. The nerve cells can be categorized by their
connections, structure, and neurotransmitters. The structural classification is depending on shape and
size of the cell body, its dendritic tree, axon length, and the nature of the connections it makes. The
neurons with one, two, or more than two neurites, are unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar respectively.
Most of neurons in vertebrate nervous systems are multipolar, but there are significant exceptions. For
illustration, bipolar neurons in the retina synapse with sensory neurons, and photoreceptors in the
dorsal root ganglion are explained as pseudo unipolar as they begin life as bipolar cells but their two
neurites fuse. The unipolar neurons dominate in invertebrates. Collaterals a small side branch, as of a
blood vessel or nerve. A neuronal pool is a group of interconnected neurons with specific functions. A
pool may be diffuse, involving neurons in several regions of the brain, or localized, with neurons
restricted to one specific location in the brain or spinal cord. However, the proper function of the
circuit of the stretch reflex also relies on convergence and divergence. A single sensory has multiple
branches that diverge and make synaptic connections with many individual motor neurons. Therefore,
when the muscle contracts as a result of the neurologist s tapper, it

Cognitive Dissonance
Leon Festinger and James M. Carlsmith (1959) were interested in the cognitive dissonance, which can
influence a person decision to choose one action or thought over another. The researchers were also
interested in forced compliance, where authority can force individuals to say or act in a way that is
conflicting to one s own private opinion, whereas, the individual s attitude is altered through
persuasion and authority. Force was operationally defined as the amount of reward offered for lying
and cognitive dissonance experienced from the participant s rated enjoyment of the tasks. Therefore,
the researchers investigated if cognitive dissonance could be created through forced compliance
behavior. Furthermore, Festinger and Carlsmith hypothesized ... Show more content on

The subjects performed a series of tedious task involving using one hand to put spools onto and then
off of a tray for half an hour and then told to use one hand to turn pegs a quarter turn clockwise for
another half an hour. Cycle was repeated until time ran out. The independent variable was the amount
of money the participants were paid, either one dollar or twenty dollars, to tell the next participant that
the task was enjoyable. In the control condition, the subjects did not have any expectations for the task
as the subjects were never told or asked to tell the female confederate waiting in the secretary s office
about the experimental tasks. In the experimental conditions, the subjects were paid to tell a female
confederate that the experimental task was interesting and fun. Subjects were paid one dollar in one
condition and twenty dollars in another condition. The conversation was recorded and coded. The
dependent variable was the participants actual rating of their enjoyment of the task, assessed in an
interview following the task. The interview looked at the how the person liked the task on a negative 5
to positive 5 scale. Second area did the experiment gave them an opportunity to learn about one s own
skills, assessed with a zero to ten scale. The third area used the zero to ten scale again to rate whether
they felt the activities were important. Lastly, subjects used a negative 5 to positive 5 scale to measure

Mandatory Abortion In The United States
Reportedly, there have been 24,446,288 abortions worldwide this year and 1,346,127,480 since 1980,
with no sign of ceasing. Each year the abortion industry brings in over $1.1 billion in America alone.
Abortions seem to be just another way to dispose of unwanted merchandise or fix an unwanted
problem. Is that all our children are unwanted merchandise; problems to be fixed? Wikipedia defines
abortion as the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can
survive on its own. I want to pose this question: what is just about stripping another human being of
his/her right to live?
As it stands today, American women have the legal right to obtain an abortion in all 50 states, through
all nine months of pregnancy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wholeheartedly believe that it should be criminalized and am in total agreeance with the Philippines
stance on the issue. I believe that once a child is conceived, they have just as much right to live and
prosper as any other corporeal human being. Medical and health issues with the mother should be the
only reason we consider such heinous measures. There are so many other avenues one could take that
do not involve killing the unborn child (e.g. adoption, interim foster care, and parenting). It saddens
me that children s lives are so disposable. There are not trash to be thrown away. In my view, when
babies are aborted we not only lose a member of society, we also lose a future doctor, a future lawyer,
a future philanthropist a future president that could have made a

  • 2. Martin Luther s Theology Of The Cross Furthermore, Luther s Theology of the cross helps us to see God incarnate, with us, Emmanuel, even in the suffering and death of the crucified one, God s only son, Jesus. It is in this suffering that we know that God is with us. In a very human way, God takes on the fate of the world, to destroy human flesh through Jesus, the incarnation. This project examines the construction of subjectivity in Eleanor Antin s Carving: A Traditional Sculpture (fig. 1) and Chris Kraus Aliens and Anorexia (fig. 2) . These works inscribe notions of the self, the social, and the subject through and upon the body, addressing the interpolating poles of nutritive consumption and willing the body away through self starvation. Throughout this essay, I will demonstrate how these artists engage with the spaces and discourses created around food and disordered eating to produce a counter dominant take on subjectivity, a thematic both artists attend to regularly throughout their careers. Before attending to theoretical concerns I will first ground my reading in art historical methods, explicating the position of these works within Antin and Kraus larger oeuvres and within the historical contexts of their production. An analysis of form and medium also underlines a reading of these works that privileges self and subjectivity. In Carving, A Traditional Sculpture and Aliens and Anorexia, the live or temporal practices common throughout Antin and Kraus careers are respectively mediated through photography and texts. By removing the material body from works that are essentially performative, the artist looks back over herself, commenting on, while creating her own lived subjectivity. I chose to position these two works together because, as Clare Johnson states in her study of Antin, Vanessa Beecroft, and Elizabeth Manchester, I want to discuss the artworks in terms that do not presuppose a proper form of feminist art practice, or suggest that the contemporary work supersedes the critical strategies of the earlier piece. Johnson s articulated aims are not to claim any single artist or artwork as feminist, per se, but to create rich and complex readings that articulate the inscriptions of feminist practice and reflect the relational web of mutually constitutive meanings. • 5. Two Other Philosophers, John Locke, And George Berkeley Two other philosophers, John Locke, and George Berkeley have shown similar theories to the discussion from the ideas presented by Plato. Unlike Plato who argues that we cannot determine what is true or real based on experience, Locke argues that all knowledge which we use to determine what is true or real comes from experience. And similar to Plato, Berkeley argues that only our ideas are the only thing that is real. Locke also argues in his essay that knowledge is not something people are born with. Locke s second point in his argument is that knowledge comes from the senses and how we perceive the world. This means that all the knowledge society has acquired comes from the observations and reasoning people have made based on their perceptions. In his essay, Locke presents the idea of two fountains of knowledge. These fountains of knowledge is where all the ideas that we can have have come from. The first fountain of knowledge is sensation, which involves all the five senses of the human body. It is because of sensation we have ideas such as hot, the color orange, sweet, and bright. The second fountain of knowledge is experience, which helps explain the things we perceive from the first sense, such as reasoning, thinking, and knowing. Locke then separates experience into two categories, primary and secondary qualities. Primary qualities are qualities that an object can have without us needing to sense it such as size of an object or the way it is moving. An object will already have these qualities regardless if a person recognizes them or not. Secondary qualities are the other qualities such as color, or the sound an object makes when it hits the floor. • 11. New Atlantis By William Harvey London, in the seventeenth century, underwent a progressive epistemological shift. In this period, the intellectual paradigm slowly transitioned from a model wherein religious dogma, mysticism, and class structure were the progenitors of thought to a model wherein scientific empiricism informed discovery. Although there was a conflict between these ideological frameworks, we should not see this confrontation of epistemologies as an overt and adversarial crisis of thought. Rather, the people responsible for confronting the antique with the scientific often attempted to consolidate their ideologies with those ideologies they were subtly challenging; they attempted to act within the framework which they rejected. In this essay, we will explore this nearly contradictory sentiment by examining four scientific works: On the Motion of the Heart, by William Harvey, Micrographia, by Robert Hooke, New Atlantis and The Great Instauration, by Francis Bacon, and 153 Chymical Aphorisms, by Chr. The Effect Of Shear Force On The Diameter Of The Rod Essay Lab # 1 Christian Axios Submitted: October, 4 2016 By: Christian Axios Partner: Coby Bryant Reviewed by: Connor Shoening Section: 27 I. Abstract: Over the course of the last few weeks my lab partner and I have conducted tests on different material of metal rods. During this time, we collected data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up with a report including statements about the significance and importance of their designated yield strength. II. Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of affect that the shear force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear stress and since the lab procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were able to divide our answer by two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean modulus of rigidity based on the two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the changing variables such as diameter and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula: (1) We used this equation along with the force and displacement data to determine the normal stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. It all began when the Salvadoran government had inflicted martial law on all its citizens, which in effect pronounced the beginning of mass killings in the country. The movement was formed to offer protection to these undocumented refugees that were fleeing the Central American wars that plagued their homes. An estimated 18,000 to 20,000 people were killed or disappeared in the 1980 s alone. Thousands of Salvadorans fled the violence, coming north through Mexico to the United States. Dr. Batstone s conversation with the villagers clearly brings out the superstitious belief of the people about ghosts. The story of Mahatma Languly shows Manoj Das s brilliant use of narration to make the seemingly incredible fairly credible. Dr. Batstone listens to the narrations of the villagers and so he serves as a link among the three stories within the single short story: Story of the Cousin , Story of Mahatma Languly Baba and Story of the Crocodile s Lady . All the three sstories border on the element of improbability but, however, the masterly handling of each story by the author renders the incidents most credible. Languly Baba is said to be 300 years old. The birth of Languly Baba in the burial ground, his howling for one full day and the way he was guarded from jackals and foxes are shrouded in mystery. The financial crisis of 2007 2008, also known as the Global Financial Crisis and 2008 financial crisis, is considered by some economists such as Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics and international business at New York University, Kenneth Rogoff, professor of economics and public policy at Harvard University, and Nariman Behravesh, chief economist and executive vice president for IHS Global Insight, to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. All of them agreed that this is a one in fifty years event , however the latest Great Recession is not a typical cyclical recession of the World Economy and no doubt will last for more that usual two years (Business Wire, Reuters). The crisis played a significant role in the failure of key businesses, declines in consumer wealth estimated in trillions of U.S. dollars, and a downturn in economic activity leading to the 2008 2012 global recession and contributing to the European sovereign debt crisis. (M. N. Baily, D. J. Elliott, 2009). So what are the cаuses of this crisis? This negotiation could have resulted in the first major motion picture deal that the producer would have worked on after his promotion to VP. In this negotiation I played the role of the Vice President. My goal was to reach what I felt was the most satisfactory agreement possible with the Director. On the personal budget we agreed on $650, which was beyond my resistance point. Again, I communicated my willingness to compromise. I wanted to make a good film and was willing to collaborate with the director to produce a quality film within budget. My hope was that he would see that I was willing to scratch his back and that he would reciprocate down the road. The next three issues we negotiated were editorial control, preproduction budget, and post production schedule. Again we logrolled with the issues and came to an agreeable decision. The outcome of the negotiation of this particular bundle was evenly distributed. I felt that the director was willing to collaborate with me on these issues. I wanted the entire negotiation to follow the concept of the integrative negotiation process by setting the tone of the negotiation as a win win. According to these studies, MS does not result from gene mutations or aberrations; rather, polymorphisms in a number of genes may predispose people to MS. These polymorphisms act independently and each can contribute a little. Several studies have identified susceptibility genes on chromosome 6p21 and 17q22 in the coding regions for major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC II) (11 14). Also the interleukin 7 receptor (IL 7R) gene alteration (15 17) and two single nucleotide polymorphisms within the interleukin 2 receptor alpha (IL 2Ra) coding region have been linked to MS risk (18). Pathophysiologically, these polymorphisms might have effects on the immune system. There is no doubt that genetics has revolutionized our understanding about the human diseases. Regarding MS; however, the practical application of these data has not been acquired yet. Gene screening for finding patients prone to MS, is neither ethical nor scientifically supported. In another way, genetic engineering might find some ways to treat MS or prevent further worsening of the disease. This might work as a secondary or tertiary prevention strategy. Gene manipulation in cell therapy studies have been experimented in animal models. This type of researches, not directly based on the mentioned genetic background of MS, shows the effects of administering genetically engineered cells in correction of some pathogenetic ... Perhaps this is frustration is born from the fact that we have never done anything like this before we have never before been able to leave home for something so infinitely vast. Then, comes income security, Medicare, health, and the interest incurred by the national debt before all others comes. All others (taking 6% of the federal budget) refers to a multitude of things, including space and technology, but also including international affairs, administration of justice, natural resources and environment, agriculture, and energy, among others (Chamberlain). It is clear that when compared to major federal expenditures, money funneled to space exploration is so fractional as to not be concisely accounted for. The question regarding money, however, is not how much, necessarily, is being spent, but if it itself is necessary. The question of necessity is, itself, difficult to answer no matter the evidence provided. When the Social Security Act was first introduced as part of Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal, some thought it was unnecessary. Some argue, today, that the US overspends on its defense sector and has since it entered WWII. Space is different, though, because it is so very new to us. It is almost completely unexplored, and surely has a vast wealth of resources useful to those on Earth, but it is neutral, and no one nation can claim any of those resources. We can turn on a radio or select a song on a menu and it chimes back at you the melody of the song you selected. A man named Scott de Martinville of the 18th century was fascinated by the way photographs preserved images, and he felt as if he could do the same with sound. The invention of the phonograph was the beginning of the music industry. Musicians could now use a machine to record their sounds and then publish and dis tribute records. With records came record labels, the leaders of the music business. Then just like everything else in a capitalist country it became all about the money, rather than the music. The business aspect of music should be based off of independent artistry in opposed to corporate wel fare. Ludwig van Beethoven one of the most talented, prolific, and remembered composers of all time was an independent artist. One has to wonder, how did composers/musicians make their money 150 years before labels were established? Beethoven used the same methods as an inde pendent artist would today. He would do live performances on piano or composing a large or chestra. These performances would bring profit while expanding popularity just like modernized artists. People can analyze something to death (Lewis, 2014, p. 517).The individual applies Newton s third law of motion, to every action there is always opposed and equal reaction and this consideration can render them into a state of confusion and indecisiveness as they consider the next step (Sharma, 2016, p. 23). Schmidt, The Wednesday Wars, did a great job at making these books. The main characters, Ponyboy and Holling, are well thought out. The Outsiders is a book about a boy who is a gang and have lost his parents. The gang is a part of the Greasers, the poor kids, who are always attacked by the Socs., the rich kids. One day Ponyboy and Johnny are attacked and Johnny kills one. They run away where they save kids from a burning church. They get burns and are rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile Ponyboy and Greasers are having a rumble with the Socs. After the rumble Johnny dies in the hospital and Dally is killed by police because he wanted to die. The Wednesday Wars is about a 7th grader who thinks his teacher hates him. He doesn t have parents who care about him and sister thinks he has no guts. He learns that Mrs. Baker is actually nice when she helps him practice for events such as the play and track meet. His dad however is only thinking about business and not about his kids. Holling eventually stands up to him. The characters have plenty of differences between them from their parents, to the personality, but they have the same kinds of friends. Ponyboy and Hollings parents are completely different. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy says to Randy that his parents were really nice but they died in a car accident. My parents are dead. It is very important to mention that exchange rate played a crucial role in these disagreements, but they will be explained in details later in the paper. It all started in the year 1982, when the US lumber lobbyists submitted a petition to the US Department of Commerce regarding the unfair practices in Canada; especially to investigate the stumpage systems in British Colombia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Immediately after, Canada appealed to the Canada U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) about the US the determination of subsidy, injured firms and putting countervailing duties on their lumber. The panels ruled in favor of Canada repeatedly and asked the United States to refund the duties. However, the US delayed in refunding the duties and was planning to do another round of subsidizing investigation; Canada yet again signed a five year MOU treaty, officially called the Softwood Lumber Agreement (SLA), in 1996. This was again done to provide stability in the lumber industry. During this year, the US refunded the past collected duties. Under this agreement, Canada imposed a fixed tax on softwood production above a specified volume. This was particularly difficult for the British Colombia coastal forest industry, resulting in layoffs and closures. There were even further difficulties between the Canada US relations when the US passed the Byrd Amendment (officially entitled the U.S. Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act of 2000). Illegal Drug Use And Prostitution Money is often thought of as the root of all evil because it has been proven time and time again that some people will do anything to get as much as possible. Some of the most profitable organized crimes are so successful they are international but often rely on harming others to get ahead. Illegal drug use, human trafficking and prostitution are three of most lucrative crimes today generating billions of dollars a year. The money is obtained illegally so the need for money laundering is essential. Several factors go into each of these issues and some of these issues can easily be tied to one another. Greed, survival, addiction and emotional needs are just a few factors that drive the businesses of organized crime. As with any business, money is the fuel that keeps it going. In many cases illegal drug use, prostitution and money laundering are found to be linked. An example would be a person turning to prostitution in order to provide the funds necessary to get the drugs that they needed. • 37. Analysis Of The Little Mermaid This story is not so fairytale like if we realize that the magical element is actually an unplanned cause for the little mermaid s death. There is dramatic irony in this excerpt, which leads to the unlikely fairytale ending. The fairytale can also be called a parody of conventional fairytales hidden as one itself. In an essay by Vladimir Propp, he explains how when the ending turns out to be tragic, the expectations of the readers are reversed (Propp 79). The parody and irony led to a somewhat of a contradiction between a fairytale and a sad love story. However, the difference between a traditional fairytale and the little mermaid s ending, I believe allows for a sense of tragedy for the readers. Andersen s, The Little Mermaid title might have hid as a children s story, but the context is written more for adults. In the article written by Lauren Duca, Duca explains how Disney s adaptation was made in a different light. Disney s writers wanted children to view adventures in a positive light and allow for children to go off the beaten path. These films are almost a right of passage. It s a way for kids to process difficult things in the world. There are always light moments along with the dark. To me, it s sort of a nice contrast (Duca). The reworking of the story changed the end to make the story more children appropriate. An Integration Center Of The Reflex Arc An integration center in the reflex arc is a neuropathway that creates a reflex action to activating neurons to skip the spinal cord and protect your brain. The nerve cells can be categorized by their connections, structure, and neurotransmitters. The structural classification is depending on shape and size of the cell body, its dendritic tree, axon length, and the nature of the connections it makes. The neurons with one, two, or more than two neurites, are unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar respectively. Most of neurons in vertebrate nervous systems are multipolar, but there are significant exceptions. For illustration, bipolar neurons in the retina synapse with sensory neurons, and photoreceptors in the dorsal root ganglion are explained as pseudo unipolar as they begin life as bipolar cells but their two neurites fuse. The unipolar neurons dominate in invertebrates. Collaterals a small side branch, as of a blood vessel or nerve. A neuronal pool is a group of interconnected neurons with specific functions. A pool may be diffuse, involving neurons in several regions of the brain, or localized, with neurons restricted to one specific location in the brain or spinal cord.
