Unspun Advert Analysis
The first technique from the book, Unspun that appears in the following add is eye candy. The
example shown in the add is the image of a nice convertible car in very close proximity to the
sun. This is an example of eye candy because it demonstrates how the advertisers are using the
picture to detract the audience away from what the actual meaning of the advertisement is. If you
look into the details the product is actually for protecting against the suns harmful rays. The
advertisers used an extreme exaggeration of a giant flaming ball of fire very close to the car to
make it appear to the audience that if you use this product your car can survive the toughest
conditions. In reality the product only stands up to a very minimal amount of sun

The Objectification Of Gender Roles
In our society, gender roles have always played a major role in our lives. But the objectification
of women is more widespread than ever. It s popularity is fueled by the media using things such
as music, music videos, movies, and TV to promote female weakness and portray women as sex
symbols. This is unfavorable to society in light of the fact that the media is making social
generalizations for both men and ladies that can bring about undesirable social and physical
propensities. The issue is particularly common on the grounds that the more the media utilizes
sexual substance in regards to ladies, the more viewers appear to become tied up with them.
Consequently, the media can shape the way of life s feeling of dating, sentiment, sex, and

the largest assignment that I was given was to aid a contracting engineer with a power distribution
project for the plant. Power distribution is the transfer of energy, or electricity, from one location to
another. However In order to understand power transfer from generation to distribution it is
important to understand the process from start to finish. AC (Alternating Current) is used for this
transfer because of its ability to transmit over longer distance with lower losses by using
transformers. Power is lost in transmission lines due to its resistance, the longer the transmission
line the higher its resistance will be, however when using polyphase AC current we are able to
change the voltage levels through the use of transformers. There are step up transformers and step
down transformers both are used when transporting power from one location to another. Starting
from the Generation of the electricity, which is created by many possible processes, the voltage is

Self-Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Essay
Self Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane
Theodore Roethke demonstrates an abiding honesty toward the facts of his experience. Roethke,
who was one of America s teaching poets before his death, was self absorbed, and his poetry
derives much of its imaginative strength from his quest for that communion joining self and
creation (Mills 527 28). In Elegy for Jane, one of his most successful poems, he blends his grief for
his student Jane Bannick with his childhood memories, his students experiences, and his role as
teacher.
Childhood memories of his father s greenhouse, field, and stand of virgin timber in Michigan s
Saginaw Valley characterize Roethke s poetry. The poet s memories provide a fund to draw from
for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the poet s grief may be the result of a mix of reality and imagination.
The teacher poet could be imagining how he would feel at the death of another of his students. At
the University of Washington, as at his other teaching posts, he enjoyed popularity with his students
and frequently formed close relationships with them; however, this was not true in the case of Jane
Bannick. Seager reveals that the poet had not known Jane very well. She was his student for only
one quarter. In addition to the grief that he felt at Jane s tragic death, his emotions may have been
stirred by the experiences of Lois Lamb, another of his students. Lamb, who fell from a horse the
previous summer, described the fall and her fears to her teacher in detail (193). Seager also
mentions that Roethke and Lamb conducted a series of `experiments with a flock of turkeys at the
Pinel Sanitarium during Roethke s 1949 50 hospitalization for manic depressive illness (187).
These visits indicate that Roethke was closer to Lamb than to Bannick. It would seem that his
relationship with Lamb would be more likely to create an awareness in the poet of the intense grief
that would result at the tragic severing of an exceptionally close teacher student bond.
Roethke finally expresses his loss and perhaps an imagined loss in terms of a unique human
relationship: neither father nor lover. As a

Semantics, Syntax, And Variation Of Language
When one takes an advanced grammar course, they are in for a new vision of learning and
understanding grammar. Most people are taught grammar as early as Elementary school, however,
they only recognize grammar for its functions in the written language and not the true meanings it
has on sentence structures and clauses. There are many views on the importance grammar usages.
Different Linguist has different theories. The two main grammar usages that are discussed are
Grammar Discourse and Cohesion. Linguisticsis the study of the nature, structure, and variation of
language that includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics ( Linguistics,
n.d., p. 1). In Linguistics, discourse is defined as a unit of text described by... Show more content on

124). Larger clauses that makeup of many sentences are considered linguistic items. Many books,
stories, poems, and even lectures include linguistic items. Many clauses in a story make up
language or utterances. Being able to distinguish the utterance in a lecture or story will help the
listener identify if the material is complete or incomplete. Texts consist of longer sentences that
would make it hard for the reader to clarify the subject in one sentence. Stages in narratives help the
linguist point out the events in the story. The stages breakdown the settings, events, and
resolution of the narrative. The structural scheme is identified, and all the stages of the narrative
can be put into the correct order ( Test and Discourse, 2007, p. 7). Grammar and discourse can
sometimes be two different types of communication, but they can compliment each other. Mira
Ariel described grammar and discourse as Grammar specifies a set of language codes and guides
speakers on how to properly construct sentences, which are then conjoined by entirely different
discourse principals into a coherent piece of discourse (Ariel, 2009, p. 5). Not all texts are of equal
value as some contains salient information that brings the story to its climax. Salient text consists of
main line verb clauses. Longacere calls this method of discourse salient system.

Relationships In Kingsolver s Bean Trees
Kingsolver implies the importance of accepting help from others by portraying various
relationships the characters build. The characters in the Bean Trees become united as a family by
the mutual support they share despite the absence of blood linked relationships. This idea of
untraditional form of familyis shown from the relationships Taylor builds. When Taylor first
moved into Lou Ann s house, Taylor felt extremely uncomfortable accepting help from anyone. By
refusing help from the others, Taylor was isolating herself from all the connections people around
her were making. However, when she starts to feel comfortable relying on others, she considers the
community as family . Change in Taylor is presented when she risks herself of being

Movie Persistence
Persistence Amorality: The Keys to Success
The film The Founder directed by John Lee Hancock is a business drama released in 2016 that
follows the rise of the McDonald s empire. The film s protagonist, Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) is
a struggling milkshake machine salesman, who happens upon a revolutionary fast food
restaurant during one of his deliveries. He recognizes the potential of McDonald s and strikes a
deal with the two brothers to franchise the company. As the film progresses, Kroc proves
persistence is the key factor to success, as he turns a roadside burger joint into an international
multimillion dollar empire. Ultimately, our capitalistic society and his persistence enabled the
unprecedented rise of McDonald s. Surprisingly, the film has a very serious and dark tone despite
the subject matter. While the film follows Kroc s ascension from struggling salesmen to business
mogul which seems very exciting, it s also a grim examination of society s values. During the film
one has an unsettling feeling as you watch Kroc succeed despite betraying the McDonald brothers,
abandoning his wife and forsaking all morals. Typically, films attempt to convey a moral message,
so the audience can learn from the mistakes of the character. Yet, at no point does Kroc experience
an internal conflict or enlightenment that demonstrates that integrity is more valuable than
commercial success. In fact, it s quite the opposite. Kroc s character development is almost
reversed and he

A revival of Full House? You got it dude! Ninety s sitcoms seem to be on the rise, whether it s old
shows being added to Netflix such as Fresh Prince of Bel Air, rumours of reunions such as
Friends, or revivals like Boy Meets World. Netflix has confirmed that Full House will be joining
this club with its revival called Fuller House. The Tanners are back, along with Kimmy Gibbler.
The new plot surrounds DJ Tanner, who is widowed (very similar beginning to Full House) and the
familycoming together to help her raise her family. Full House has filled many hearts with

Despite this the Olsen twins will be one of the only original casts not coming back. This may be
a letdown to many of the young girls who grew up with Michelle Tanner and idolizing the Olsen

regulars or just for cameos. Even with the original cast, the show will face some difficulties.
Previous revivals such as Boy Meets World has been somewhat successful, but it fans aren t it s
originals. Because it s on the Disney Channel, most of its viewers are younger. This is because
of time passing. Many are interested in the plot continuing, but sometimes the characters people
grew up watching are not as relatable. While we would all like to know what the characters of
friends are doing, an entire season of them living separately and acting responsibly might not be
as interesting as it seems. People enjoyed watching the Tanner girls facing obstacles as they grow
older up or hot breaker Uncle Jesse learn to settle down, but not as many are interested in watching
all them as adults. It s originally a family show, so it should interest all members of the

The Whitlam Government (1972 1975) introduced many ideas that impacted on all the people of
Australia. There may have been impediments that prevented the Whitlam Government from
introducing new ideas, such as the Senate. Nevertheless in three years the Whitlam Government
managed to win the hearts of many Australians. In their three year reign the Whitlam Government
managed to create Medibank, establish firm relations with People s Republic of China, establish
the Department of Aboriginal Affairs (Giving all Aboriginals a voice ), obtained responsibility for
tertiary education over from the states and eradicated tertiary fees, and establishing Supporting

The leaders of the Aboriginal community proposed the issue to the government to develop a black
parliament which would be responsible for dealing with issues affecting Aboriginals or part
Aboriginals. The idea was developed and the Whitlam Government established the organization.
The advantage of this was to have an organization dealing with the rights of the Aboriginals. The
system is based on the decisions of the Aboriginal council members which run along 27 divisions,
running along Australia to hear the issues of Aboriginals and then act upon it. This would put
more concern to the issue as you would be talking about only one ethnic group, making it a bigger
issue. The basic impact it had on Aboriginals was that it gave them a voice in parliament, and they
could act on their basis of belief.

Gender representation in advert
Textual Investigation Explore how gender is represented in Joop! Homme. The slogan Real Men
Wear Pink denotes a naked man being embraced by a woman who is holding a bottle of Joop
Homme. The representation of the man connotes a masculine confidence in wearing pink, a colour
traditionally used to represent femininity. This suggests that the man is confident in his masculinity
and that he doesn t need colours like blue or black to show his masculinity and also that he is
subverting the stereotype of male representation. Traditionally men were linked with colours like
blue or bold colours, and girls were linked with pink or softer colours. The colour scheme of this

The 50s ad has a more homely domestic sort of feel because of how the man and woman in the
ad are dressed. The man is wearing a suit which gives a professional and a more sophisticated
look, also the gender representation shows to look like the common/respectable/perfect man
back in the 50s you have to wear a suit with a clean shaven face and short neat hair. Also the
woman in the ad has a more domestic look with neat hair and also her make up is more motherly
and gives a more traditional, albeit outdated representation of her gender. Representations of
gender in the Joop advert, although fully of sexual imagery and subverting the stereotype of pink
is for girls still conforms to traditional stereotypical representations of masculinity and femininity.
The male is still shown as the aggressor and in charge. He is now a man who is more confident in
his masculinity and is more unshaven than the 1950s representation of men. This suggests that the
advert is responding to one of Maslow s needs theory : the need to dominate. It creates a
representation of a man wanting to be in control. It could also be argued that it also responds to the
need for attention. The representation of gender is shown in a way that men are more dominant
and powerful. It is the same as the representations of the 1950s but this time it uses sex to

Effects Of Moving Away In A Family
The effects of someone moving away in a family
The moments in life when people have to move away is the worst part for some people who
have the feeling of being lost and lonely because it s usually a loved one moving from a state or
even just a town. This is a very hard topic because different people have different reactions to these
moments. If someone knows that they are suffering through the following because of split up in a
family talk to someone they can trust. These effects can cause to very hard times in life. The
effects of this type of movement can be caused by a parent moving away, brother, or sister. The
effects can be affected differently in which causes Daily life problems, Education, and even short

The effects a family member moving away, can cause really make someone s daily life even
more challenging because if it s effect is being put onto a younger child they wouldn t have a clue
what s really happening and not noticing that the person moving away might never come back.
These effects can make that child feel lonely or upset. In the later age this can and has been
proven a leading factor who drug abuse, horrid family relationships and drop outs of college, and

more leading cause to this is the drugs taken and not really the family member leaving

Effects Of The Progressive Era
Many social movements throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries shaped the Progressive
Era. Towards the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century the economy was thriving.
Industrialization was blooming with new achievements that were being brought to America.
However, many problems were also brought. The Progressive Eratackled these problems. The
Progressive Era made an immense change on America s economy and society. This Era was a
time of extreme change. Major changes were made in the economic and political levels during the
time of this era. Many of the problems were problems of the urbanization and industrialization
periods. The Progressive Era had many successes and many failures, however, the successes
overshadow the failures. The progressive era was a response to the problems that were caused by
the movements after the Civil War, problems of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the era was
successful in addressing problems such as public education, the Gilded Age, and living conditions.

literacy skills for the time. Whereas men usually finished middle school and some even men went

Religious And Spiritual Aspects Of Human Service Practice
In this paper, I will be writing about spirituality and religion. I will be referring to the textbook
called, Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F.
Ellen Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting
concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human
service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical
practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the
United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services
professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with
one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior
to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious
traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a
more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious
traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for
people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults in
attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is
increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define

Older Workers in the Workplace (3rd draft)
Does aging reduce the work effectiveness of older workers? In this fast growing economy, many
people believe that older workers should stop working at a certain age because younger workers
will keep up with rapid economic development better. Lois Lowry describes this discrimination in

companies avoid the repetition of mistakes. In tough marketplaces, it is important to realize that
older workers are the sources of companies profits because after working for a long time, they have
built good relationships as powerful strings to connect loyal and potential customers with
companies. Under those circumstances, older workers productivities are much more or at least on
par with younger workers.
Besides productivity, some employers are concerned about older worker s loyalty because
younger workers are supposed to have a longer path with companies in the future. Of course
their concern is reasonable because workers loyalty decides the turn over rate that is involved in
hiring and training costs, but Sloan Center on Aging and Work reports that older workers get
high marks for loyalty (Dan). Most of younger workers are on the stage of applying their skills and
knowledge in order to earn experience and figure out the careers of their lives. The desire of
discovering real world but lack of maturity usually make younger workers become job hoppers. For

No Child Left Behind Standardization
The large change for standardization began with the implementation of the No Child Left Behind
Act (NCLB) in 2001. According to professors of education Delilah David, Ingrid Haynes, Bernnell
M. Peltier Glaze, Summer Pannell, and head of Texas Marshall County school district, Carrie
Skelton, the NCLB was responsible for a number of undesirable consequences in school
administration. Districts became responsible for testscores from individual schools, creating
pressures among administrative officials to perform well. The act also made it easier for the federal
government to become more involved in education, primarily in its finances. Dr. Martin Wasserburg
conducted an assessment of lower income schools in an urban area and found that t... Show more

The increase of standardization in education in the years following the NCLB s implementation
brought more undesirable consequences, one of them being the pressure placed on teachers to
perform well. More now than ever, teachers are accountable for the test scores and performances
given by individual students (Wiliam, Dylan). In fact, the main purpose of standardized testing is
not to assess the contextual knowledge of students, but rather to act as an assessment of teacher
performance and quality. Teachers are held more accountable for the scores of their students than
the students themselves are, despite the proven lack of control that teachers have over test scores.
This particular facet of the American education system sets us apart other developing countries,
where students are held as equally accountable to their scores as teachers are. According to Dylan
Wiliam, two thirds of the reasoning behind test scores can be traced back to socioeconomic factors,
further showing that teachers have a small influence in a student s test score, and that they should
not be assessed based on them alone.

Human Body Continuously Need Blood Supply Essay
Human body continuously need blood supply to the cell in order to deliver oxygen and nutrient
to the cells and carrying out carbon dioxide out of the cell. In order to have good perfusion in
tissue, a person has to have good cardiac health and patent vessels. Edema also affect tissue
perfusion. There are many reasons that disturbed the normal flow of bloodlike ECG rhythm,
congestive heartfailure, hypertension, gestational hypertension, mitral valve prolapse, coronary
artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease, which are also the exemplars of perfusion. There
are many risk factors that can be modified to prevent the perfusion problem.
Blood pressure greater than 140/90 is known as hypertension. Excessive sodium intake,
hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, extreme tobacco and alcohol use, over activity of sympathetic
nervous system, and over production of sodium retaining hormones and vasoconstriction
substances are major contributing factors of hypertension. Heredity, age, and gender are also the
risk factors for hypertension (Bucher Dirksen, 2014). Hypertension is one of the most underlying
cause of impaired perfusion. High blood pressure for long period of time can shore up smooth
muscles of artery as a result of building up the strength through hypertrophy and hyperplasia, which
results in decrease size of arterial lumen. In older adult, the wall of artery become thick and hard
due to above contributing factors that I mention. This alter vasomotor tone and blood

Analysis on Beethoven S Piano Sonata No3, Op 2
Analysis on Beethoven s Piano Sonata No 3, op. 2, Allegro con brio
Composers since the early classical era have used sonata form to express through music ideas which
are at once complex and unified. This form contains a variety of themes and permutations of these
themes, but is brought together into a comprehensible whole when these excerpts reappear.
Beethoven, in the first movement of his Piano Sonata Opus 2 Number 3 utilizes this form to its full
potential, modifying the typical structure in his characteristic way. The sonata begins softly but
with unmistakable energy. The trill like sixteenth notes on the third beat of this motif surge the
piece forward into the next bar. The two bar motif appears again, and is then varied and... Show

The dynamic increases to fortissimo at mm. 73 as the texture thins and harmony becomes very
clear for a brief section. In this second closing theme G major, G augmented, and E minor7 in the
bass are strongly arpeggiated before four octaves of C, D and G quickly reaffirm the key of G.
This cadential crash is followed by some of the softest and lightest material of the whole movement,
which due to the surrounding measures is proved to still be part of the second closing theme.
The exposition is finally completed with a third closing theme. Thundering octaves of scalar G
major material with a variety of applied harmonies lead us to the final PAC of the exposition.
Beethoven would have surely failed his part writing test on this last cadence on four counts of
parallel fifths and two counts of parallel octaves, with doubled leading tones. After a repeat of the
exposition, the performance moves on to the development with the soft material from the second
half of closing theme two. It begins a whole step higher than its first appearance and immediately
begins to modulate. Eight bars later new arpeggiated material enters on a Bb7 chord, beginning a
twelve bar chromatic bass line moving to C# right before measure 109. Here the opening theme
enters, similarly a whole step higher than at the beginning. Hearing the principal theme in the
wrong key is a sure sign of a false recapitulation, and the P theme is

As stated by Graeme Turner in Understanding Celebrity, the contemporary celebrity will usually

The Aquariums Of Pyongyang Summary
The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol Hwan is a memoir about a young boy s life in a
North Korean gulag during the dictatorship of Kim Il sung. His story is profoundly touching,
recounting his glorious childhood, sudden imprisonment in a labor camp, and successful escape to
South Korea. The memoir gives insight to the life of North Koreans from the 1960s to the present,
as the dictatorship tightens and the economy fails. The account is the first of its kind and is filled
with the unimaginable horrors that have faced generations of North Koreans. Along with his
personal story, the author offers his personal criticisms of the government and presents the
difficulties in solving the problems that plague the country. His open ended questions allow the
reader to think about the North Korean plight instead of only hearing his story and dismissing it as
an isolated occurrence. When the memoir was first published in 2000, Kang believed that not many

starvation for ten years in an internment camp, he brings up the shortfalls of offering aid. He

given to the ever growing army and the citizens would be left to subsist on meager rations.
Additionally, the aid would allow the government to use its funds for military and self serving

I personally, was left in tears and had an overflow of emotions by the time the filmended. Crash ,

just overwhelming. The first example of this shown in the movie, was when Farhad, and his

becomes frustrated when they begin to speak in a foreign language. He then refuses to let Farhad

stereotyping. Within the first five minutes, there was already a dispute; between Ria, who is a

Ria, and she began to make remarks about how Mexican women can t drive. This was very

Political And Legal System Of Greece Essay
Country Profile: Location
Greece, located in southeastern Europe, is a beautiful transcontinental country, which means the
country expands over more than one continent. Greece is cleverly placed on the crossroads of
Africa, Asia, and Europe. It is made up a huge mainland peninsula, the Peloponnese, and many
surrounding islands. Its country s flag is composed of nine blue and white stripes as well as a

The United States is one of few countries that have not only a written constitution but one that has

may look at Americans as weird due to their devotion to this document and that many look at a

he established the idea of judicial review by declaring section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1783

There seems to be two prevailing theories of interpretation in the Supreme Court the first being
originalism which has been used most famously by both Justice Black as well as Justice Scalia
although both reached their decisions by different methods. Justice Hugo Black and Justice Antonin
Scalia were both originalist although they did differ in their methods. Originalism has a few main
beliefs one being that judicial power should be constrained to exactly what is the original meaning
of the Constitution. Some primary methods for the interpretation of the Constitution in regards to
originalism are intent, that is what the framers and ratifiers intent was when the Constitution was
written, textualism which can also be plain meaning like Scalia as well as the literal words in the
Constitution and original public meaning being the original conventional semantic meaning. The
other prominent theory is that of the living constitution or sometimes called non originalism as
well as evolutionism. The theory of the living constitution has the basic premise that the
Constitution was not meant to be static or frozen but to evolve as we progressed as a nation and
has sometimes been referred to as the workable government approach as it was called in United
States v. Nixon in an opinion delivered by Chief Justice Burger.
In order to understand what Originalism is it is important to look at Justice Antonin Scalia who was
at the forefront of the Originalist movement

Woods is therefore the round character in the movie. He starts with a very white approach about
apartheid, but ends up fighting for a country with better rights for the blacks. Woods starts to stand
up for the black people and go into the fight for better rights. Therefore he prints Biko s words
and picture of how the blacks are oppressed which is against the laws because the press isn t free.
When Biko dies in the prison in his fight for better rights the government cover the real reason
for his death with a story about Biko hunger stroked. Woods decides therefore to run the real
story in his newspaper and end up getting banded by the government. He decides to escape out of
South Africa to England where he wants to publish a book, which is the real story about Steve
Biko. Steve Biko is the flat character in the movie. He has his whole life lived under oppression
and apartheid laws. He fight for better rights for the black people and wants an ending on the
laws. When Biko becomes friends with Woods he convinces him that the laws should end and the
blacks should stop living under oppression. When Woods starts to print Bikos words it starts to
make a difference in South Africa. When the police catch Biko he ends up dying in the prison
because of his meanings about apartheid.
Woods is therefore the story s round charter because he changes from having a white liberal
approach to fight for better rights for the black people and Biko is the story s flat charter because

Factors Affecting Global Business Environment
As one of the most dominant organisational forms in global business environment, family
businesses have been drawing attention among management scholars with a strong focus especially
on succession, performance, and governance of these companies (Astrachan Shanker, 2003; Zahra
Sharma, 2004). Although the first attempt to conduct research on familybusinesses can be traced
back to Trow s (1961) empirical study entitled Executive succession in small companies in which
he investigated the factors that affect succession planning for top positions in small companies, its
popularity has started to increase after 1980s (Benavides Velasco, Quintana Garcia, Guizman Parra,
2013). In their cluster analysis, Benavides Velasco et al. (2013) have found that succession ,
governance , organisation theory , SMEs , ownership , and human resources are the main areas of
research that have been studying in the existing family businessliterature. However, despite the
growing interest in these topics, this field of research can be regarded as still a burgeoning field
of inquiry and even considered to be in its infancy (Chrisman et al., 2008). The dearth of studies in
this field can be attributed to the lack of a standardised definition of family business and its
boundaries (Handler, 1989; Sharma, 2004). This lack has led to crucial challenges for
distinguishing family from nonfamily businesses (Astrachan, Klein, Smyrnios, 2002). In an attempt

Prostitute, A Servant, By Carmen R. Luo-Lugo
Ever since the election in 2016 in which Donald Trump won presidency in the United States,
certain individuals have been very comfortable in letting their opinionated stereotypes come out
into the world, in some places where they are not wanted. These stereotypes and prejudices exist
against all minority races: that they are lazy, not hard working, cannot speak our language,
amongst other things. It is now a common occurrence to come across a video on the internet of
racists yelling at these minority people for being in this country and other senseless reasons. These
stereotypes, however, have existed long before the time of Donald Trump being sworn into office,
and people have been fighting them the entire time. Latina professor and author Carmen R... Show

Aristotle s Theory Of Philosophy
There have been tons of philosophers throughout the last millennium and so on that have developed
their ideas and supported them through various means. Aristotle is one of the most famous
examples of a philosopher that does exactly that. Though mainly the influence was on the ancient
world, his theories have a wide variety and assortment that has been an extreme influence on
generations of philosophers even today. Aristotles efforts were able to answer questions that had
been within the minds of Greeks for centuries! For a few examples, reality is explained through
his theories as well as if it changes from our experiences or not, how the universe may be
organized and many others were also spoken of. Aristotle not only developed his own ideas
which later influenced many others theories on philosophy, but his ideas also have a great deal of
importance attached to them when approaching concepts such as: nature, movement, and his view
of the universe and destiny. Just a few of these are examples of which Aristotle used quite often
in order to get other people to understand his philosophy as well as learn from their own mistakes
and come to grasp for themselves how they should view the world. These ideas that were brought
up by Aristotle must be thoroughly examined in order to understand his effect on philosophy and
its progress. First of all, Aristotle s concept of nature was developed throughout his reasoning that
he was able to obtain from the Greek perspective and

Martin Luther King Jr., the author of Letter to Birmingham Jail, that was written in 1963, uses
many rhetorical strategies throughout his letter;. Additionallyconsequently, he uses these

The Wordy Shipmates Chapter Summary
The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell focuses on the puritan colonies in the new world. Mainly
Plymouth in 1620 and Salem in1692. The book focuses on the words of John Cotton and John
Winthrop s sermons. The book provides an insight into the forming of these first few colonies, such
as the events both in Europeand the new world that led to there formation. Vowell does a great job
at keeping this historical analysis as interesting as possible referring past events to present day
ones giving a younger reader a better understanding. I found her writing on the famous Indian
Squanto to be particularly interesting. Squanto was the famous Native American who helped the
first settlers of the Mayflower. He was the only Native American who could speak English do to

As mention before Squanto was captured be European sailors who brought over disease. This
disease had wiped out all the people Squanto knew. When he was returned home he found his
friends and family were all dead and his village was gone. When the Mayflower came over it
settled on the very place Squanto s old village sat. The land being destroyed by disease was
cleared and perfect fro starting a colony on. The settlers most likely found Squanto here because
it was his village and all that he knew. Another point I found interesting is the line from John
Cotton that America was blessed by God and therefore needs to share this blessing with the
world. This is first seen in the Massachusetts Bay Colony Seal which shows a Native America
saying, Come over and help us. It seems as American people thought that this gift or blessing from
God needed to be shared with everyone and occurs multiple times throughout the book. It occurs in
the seal, The Mexican War, Vietnam, Wounded Knee, and Cuba. Each of these events goes back to
the idea of America Spreading its

Why Are The Mongols Barbaric
Despite however civilized some thought the Mongols were, they were barbaric for three distinct
reasons: they used psychological warfare to manipulate the minds of their enemies; even worse,
they caused mass destruction to many cities/countries in the Eastern Hemisphere during leader
Genghis Khan s rule; however, most catastrophic of all, they killed about 40 million people
throughout their reign (Andrei). According to the online dictionary, barbaric can be defined as
savagely cruel and/or exceedingly brutal. If destroying innocent people s homes and killing tens
of millions of people is not barbaric, nothing is. The Mongols use of psychological warfare was
just barbaric evil to say the least. They used this method of warfare to eliminate enemies, make
people loyal to them, and to inspire fear among non Mongols. For example, when the Tartars, a

Adharbayjan and Arraniyya, they passed on to Darband i Shirwin, and occupied its cities, none of

Analysis has been initiated taking into consideration the legal, social, economic and technological

Becoming an accountant requires having the appropriate degree and passing the licensure
examination. The educational requirement, as well as the number of hours in apprenticeship is
necessary before one can rightfully be called an accountant. A mere graduate of the profession
would not constitute to automatic nomination into the league or associations of accountant. As an
international student, in order to work in the US one must secure a working permit. This is one of
the requirements in working in the US. Usually, if an individual enter the US in a student visa
then that individual is required by law to return to his or her country of origin. However, if an
opportunity of employment is opened or extended to this individual, the employer would fix all the
necessary documents to arrange for the individual s working visa and permits.
Although protected by law, discrimination and prejudice still exist in the US and this is one of the
identified threats which might deter a person qualified or otherwise to seek employment from a
reputable company. Language barrier is also a problem that is seen as a weakness and a threat at
the same time. Foreign nationals who have been to the US for a limited time may not necessarily

Six Hat Method Of Thinking Is Different From Argument
1. Explain how the Six Hat method of thinking is different from Argument . Also, explain how it
helps organizations to 1) explore a subject, 2) make decisions, and 3) reduce the time taken for the
project discussions.
There is a place for argument, and argument is a useful tool of thinking. But argument is inadequate
as the main tool of thinking. Argument lacks constructive energies, design energies, and creative
energies. Pointing out faults may lead to some improvement but does not construct something new.
Synthesizing both points of view does not produce a stream of new alternatives.
Traditional argument is totally useless for such a design process. Instead, we need Parallel Thinking

those involved in discussions if they adorn different hats , it is pretty sure that a good decision can

ABSTRACT
Corporate social responsibility is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental
concerns in their business activities and in interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.
In this global context, voluntary social and environmental practices of business, going beyond
companies existing legal obligations, can play a major role in filling the governance gap in an
innovative way. The sector is characterized by controls across the entire value chain of sugar
production and sale, which not only hampers its efficiency but also exacerbates the cyclicality in
sugar and sugarcane production. The growth and development in sugar sector in the country in
general and in the state of Uttar Pradesh in particular has multiple linkages with social, economic
and environmental issues. The purpose of this study is to conduct a triple bottom line assessment of
sugarcane value chain and suggest alternatives that could improve the current sustainable practices
of CSR across various stakeholders.

American Education Ideology Research Paper

ENGL 1101

The American Education Ideology
The importance of education is highly emphasized in American culture today. According to most
members of society, the more educated a person is, the better off they will be in the long run. The
idea that the furthering of one s education is important and is something everyone should partake
in even as adults can be considered an ideology, which is a system of beliefs or theories held by an
individual or a group.
Because of this educational growth mindset, plenty of American parents enroll their children in
some type of school program at an early age. According to the National Center for Education

The Great Leaders Of The Civil Rights Movement
Throughout history, people have made sacrifices, changes, and big decisions that later sometimes
result in something grand. These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time
goes on these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for
students to learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that
contributed to historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For
example, in the American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George
Washington, Paul Revere, and Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared
and killed because of this bloody war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once
again. Another example of a person that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone.
She made an impact on the Civil Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have
done. When you think of the Civil Rights Movementthe first three that come to mind of course
are, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, and Rosa Parks. So, when someone hears the name
Nina Simone the two most common responses might be Who s that? or Oh the singer? . But
what is forgotten is how she, at such a high level, put her reputation at a risk. Nina Simone was a
very well known singer of the 1950s and 1960s especially for her song Feeling Good . She didn t
just use her popularity for fame and money but to express

Cosmetic Surgery Of Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation
Today, more and more women think about cosmetic surgery to make their bodies look perfect.
The most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some women want to enlarge
their breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust, and they go to a surgeon and ask him or
her to change their body. A short term effect of such operation is full satisfaction with the new
appearance and improvement of sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will
change for the best. However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into
something worse. Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant
than the previous one. Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various infections as
well as suicide are experienced by many women who underwent a plastic surgery. Consequently, the
theme of breast augmentation is important since it relates to thousands of women who hesitate
whether to change their breasts or not, especially those women who have already made an
operation. Although breast augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty,
this type of cosmetic surgery has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed,
different health problems, and even suicide.
The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was transferred to the
breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and only in 1962, the modern

  • 2. Unspun Advert Analysis The first technique from the book, Unspun that appears in the following add is eye candy. The example shown in the add is the image of a nice convertible car in very close proximity to the sun. This is an example of eye candy because it demonstrates how the advertisers are using the picture to detract the audience away from what the actual meaning of the advertisement is. If you look into the details the product is actually for protecting against the suns harmful rays. The advertisers used an extreme exaggeration of a giant flaming ball of fire very close to the car to make it appear to the audience that if you use this product your car can survive the toughest conditions. In reality the product only stands up to a very minimal amount of sun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Objectification Of Gender Roles In our society, gender roles have always played a major role in our lives. But the objectification of women is more widespread than ever. It s popularity is fueled by the media using things such as music, music videos, movies, and TV to promote female weakness and portray women as sex symbols. This is unfavorable to society in light of the fact that the media is making social generalizations for both men and ladies that can bring about undesirable social and physical propensities. The issue is particularly common on the grounds that the more the media utilizes sexual substance in regards to ladies, the more viewers appear to become tied up with them. Consequently, the media can shape the way of life s feeling of dating, sentiment, sex, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Power distribution is the transfer of energy, or electricity, from one location to another. However In order to understand power transfer from generation to distribution it is important to understand the process from start to finish. AC (Alternating Current) is used for this transfer because of its ability to transmit over longer distance with lower losses by using transformers. Power is lost in transmission lines due to its resistance, the longer the transmission line the higher its resistance will be, however when using polyphase AC current we are able to change the voltage levels through the use of transformers. There are step up transformers and step down transformers both are used when transporting power from one location to another. Starting from the Generation of the electricity, which is created by many possible processes, the voltage is significantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Self-Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Essay Self Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Theodore Roethke demonstrates an abiding honesty toward the facts of his experience. Roethke, who was one of America s teaching poets before his death, was self absorbed, and his poetry derives much of its imaginative strength from his quest for that communion joining self and creation (Mills 527 28). In Elegy for Jane, one of his most successful poems, he blends his grief for his student Jane Bannick with his childhood memories, his students experiences, and his role as teacher. Childhood memories of his father s greenhouse, field, and stand of virgin timber in Michigan s Saginaw Valley characterize Roethke s poetry. The poet s memories provide a fund to draw from for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the poet s grief may be the result of a mix of reality and imagination. The teacher poet could be imagining how he would feel at the death of another of his students. At the University of Washington, as at his other teaching posts, he enjoyed popularity with his students and frequently formed close relationships with them; however, this was not true in the case of Jane Bannick. Seager reveals that the poet had not known Jane very well. She was his student for only one quarter. In addition to the grief that he felt at Jane s tragic death, his emotions may have been stirred by the experiences of Lois Lamb, another of his students. Lamb, who fell from a horse the previous summer, described the fall and her fears to her teacher in detail (193). Seager also mentions that Roethke and Lamb conducted a series of `experiments with a flock of turkeys at the Pinel Sanitarium during Roethke s 1949 50 hospitalization for manic depressive illness (187). These visits indicate that Roethke was closer to Lamb than to Bannick. It would seem that his relationship with Lamb would be more likely to create an awareness in the poet of the intense grief that would result at the tragic severing of an exceptionally close teacher student bond. Roethke finally expresses his loss and perhaps an imagined loss in terms of a unique human relationship: neither father nor lover. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Semantics, Syntax, And Variation Of Language When one takes an advanced grammar course, they are in for a new vision of learning and understanding grammar. Most people are taught grammar as early as Elementary school, however, they only recognize grammar for its functions in the written language and not the true meanings it has on sentence structures and clauses. There are many views on the importance grammar usages. Different Linguist has different theories. The two main grammar usages that are discussed are Grammar Discourse and Cohesion. Linguisticsis the study of the nature, structure, and variation of language that includes phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics ( Linguistics, n.d., p. 1). In Linguistics, discourse is defined as a unit of text described by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 124). Larger clauses that makeup of many sentences are considered linguistic items. Many books, stories, poems, and even lectures include linguistic items. Many clauses in a story make up language or utterances. Being able to distinguish the utterance in a lecture or story will help the listener identify if the material is complete or incomplete. Texts consist of longer sentences that would make it hard for the reader to clarify the subject in one sentence. Stages in narratives help the linguist point out the events in the story. The stages breakdown the settings, events, and resolution of the narrative. The structural scheme is identified, and all the stages of the narrative can be put into the correct order ( Test and Discourse, 2007, p. 7). Grammar and discourse can sometimes be two different types of communication, but they can compliment each other. Mira Ariel described grammar and discourse as Grammar specifies a set of language codes and guides speakers on how to properly construct sentences, which are then conjoined by entirely different discourse principals into a coherent piece of discourse (Ariel, 2009, p. 5). Not all texts are of equal value as some contains salient information that brings the story to its climax. Salient text consists of main line verb clauses. Longacere calls this method of discourse salient system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The characters in the Bean Trees become united as a family by the mutual support they share despite the absence of blood linked relationships. This idea of untraditional form of familyis shown from the relationships Taylor builds. When Taylor first moved into Lou Ann s house, Taylor felt extremely uncomfortable accepting help from anyone. By refusing help from the others, Taylor was isolating herself from all the connections people around her were making. However, when she starts to feel comfortable relying on others, she considers the community as family . Change in Taylor is presented when she risks herself of being ... • 9. Movie Persistence Persistence Amorality: The Keys to Success The film The Founder directed by John Lee Hancock is a business drama released in 2016 that follows the rise of the McDonald s empire. The film s protagonist, Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) is a struggling milkshake machine salesman, who happens upon a revolutionary fast food restaurant during one of his deliveries. He recognizes the potential of McDonald s and strikes a deal with the two brothers to franchise the company. As the film progresses, Kroc proves persistence is the key factor to success, as he turns a roadside burger joint into an international multimillion dollar empire. Ultimately, our capitalistic society and his persistence enabled the unprecedented rise of McDonald s. Surprisingly, the film has a very serious and dark tone despite the subject matter. While the film follows Kroc s ascension from struggling salesmen to business mogul which seems very exciting, it s also a grim examination of society s values. During the film one has an unsettling feeling as you watch Kroc succeed despite betraying the McDonald brothers, abandoning his wife and forsaking all morals. Typically, films attempt to convey a moral message, so the audience can learn from the mistakes of the character. Yet, at no point does Kroc experience an internal conflict or enlightenment that demonstrates that integrity is more valuable than commercial success. In fact, it s quite the opposite. Kroc s character development is almost reversed and he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Netflix has confirmed that Full House will be joining this club with its revival called Fuller House. The Tanners are back, along with Kimmy Gibbler. The new plot surrounds DJ Tanner, who is widowed (very similar beginning to Full House) and the familycoming together to help her raise her family. Despite this the Olsen twins will be one of the only original casts not coming back. This may be a letdown to many of the young girls who grew up with Michelle Tanner and idolizing the Olsen twins. The good news is that many of the other original cast members are coming back as regulars or just for cameos. Even with the original cast, the show will face some difficulties. Previous revivals such as Boy Meets World has been somewhat successful, but it fans aren t it s originals. Because it s on the Disney Channel, most of its viewers are younger. This is because of time passing. Many are interested in the plot continuing, but sometimes the characters people grew up watching are not as relatable. While we would all like to know what the characters of friends are doing, an entire season of them living separately and acting responsibly might not be as interesting as it seems. People enjoyed watching the Tanner girls facing obstacles as they grow older up or hot breaker Uncle Jesse learn to settle down, but not as many are interested in watching all them as adults. There may have been impediments that prevented the Whitlam Government from introducing new ideas, such as the Senate. In their three year reign the Whitlam Government managed to create Medibank, establish firm relations with People s Republic of China, establish the Department of Aboriginal Affairs (Giving all Aboriginals a voice ), obtained responsibility for tertiary education over from the states and eradicated tertiary fees, and establishing Supporting Mother s Benefit s. The leaders of the Aboriginal community proposed the issue to the government to develop a black parliament which would be responsible for dealing with issues affecting Aboriginals or part Aboriginals. The idea was developed and the Whitlam Government established the organization. The advantage of this was to have an organization dealing with the rights of the Aboriginals. The system is based on the decisions of the Aboriginal council members which run along 27 divisions, running along Australia to hear the issues of Aboriginals and then act upon it. This would put more concern to the issue as you would be talking about only one ethnic group, making it a bigger issue. The slogan Real Men Wear Pink denotes a naked man being embraced by a woman who is holding a bottle of Joop Homme. The representation of the man connotes a masculine confidence in wearing pink, a colour traditionally used to represent femininity. This suggests that the man is confident in his masculinity and that he doesn t need colours like blue or black to show his masculinity and also that he is subverting the stereotype of male representation. Traditionally men were linked with colours like blue or bold colours, and girls were linked with pink or softer colours. The male is still shown as the aggressor and in charge. He is now a man who is more confident in his masculinity and is more unshaven than the 1950s representation of men. This suggests that the advert is responding to one of Maslow s needs theory : the need to dominate. It creates a representation of a man wanting to be in control. It could also be argued that it also responds to the need for attention. The representation of gender is shown in a way that men are more dominant and powerful. This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for people. More now than ever, teachers are accountable for the test scores and performances given by individual students (Wiliam, Dylan). In fact, the main purpose of standardized testing is not to assess the contextual knowledge of students, but rather to act as an assessment of teacher performance and quality. Teachers are held more accountable for the scores of their students than the students themselves are, despite the proven lack of control that teachers have over test scores. This particular facet of the American education system sets us apart other developing countries, where students are held as equally accountable to their scores as teachers are. I personally, was left in tears and had an overflow of emotions by the time the filmended. To begin, one thing I immediately noticed about this film; was the amount of social constructs that were shown. When taking notes, it felt like my penil never left the paper as I wrote down all the things I saw. The amount of racism that is present is just overwhelming. The first example of this shown in the movie, was when Farhad, and his Daughter Dorri, who are both Persian; are attempting to purchase a handgun. The shopkeeper becomes frustrated when they begin to speak in a foreign language. He then refuses to let Farhad buy a gun, gets extremely loud and forces him out of the store. Also very plentiful in the film; stereotyping. Within the first five minutes, there was already a dispute; between Ria, who is a Latina woman and an Asian woman who was unnamed. The Asian woman had just rear ended Ria, and she began to make remarks about how Mexican women can t drive. This was very offensive as to define Ria by her race, but also because she is not ... Originalism has a few main beliefs one being that judicial power should be constrained to exactly what is the original meaning of the Constitution. Factors Affecting Global Business Environment As one of the most dominant organisational forms in global business environment, family businesses have been drawing attention among management scholars with a strong focus especially on succession, performance, and governance of these companies (Astrachan Shanker, 2003; Zahra Sharma, 2004). Although the first attempt to conduct research on familybusinesses can be traced back to Trow s (1961) empirical study entitled Executive succession in small companies in which he investigated the factors that affect succession planning for top positions in small companies, its popularity has started to increase after 1980s (Benavides Velasco, Quintana Garcia, Guizman Parra, 2013). (2013) have found that succession , governance , organisation theory , SMEs , ownership , and human resources are the main areas of research that have been studying in the existing family businessliterature. However, despite the growing interest in these topics, this field of research can be regarded as still a burgeoning field of inquiry and even considered to be in its infancy (Chrisman et al., 2008). The dearth of studies in this field can be attributed to the lack of a standardised definition of family business and its boundaries (Handler, 1989; Sharma, 2004). These grand occurrences can either be good or bad. Usually as time goes on these events and most well known people of this time are highlighted in history classes for students to learn and to honor those of that time. However, some of the smaller people that contributed to historical events aren t as highlighted as those that were seen as the big leaders. For example, in the American Revolution, the people that usually come to mind are George Washington, Paul Revere, and Thomas Jefferson. What about the people who were injured, scared and killed because of this bloody war? They seem to be forgotten until they are highlighted once again. Another example of a person that was not really highlighted for their actions is Nina Simone. She made an impact on the Civil Right Movement that not many other artist or celebrity would have done. The most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some women want to enlarge their breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust, and they go to a surgeon and ask him or her to change their body. A short term effect of such operation is full satisfaction with the new appearance and improvement of sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will change for the best. However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into something worse. Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant than the previous one. Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various infections as well as suicide are experienced by many women who underwent a plastic surgery. Consequently, the theme of breast augmentation is important since it relates to thousands of women who hesitate whether to change their breasts or not, especially those women who have already made an operation. Although breast augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty, this type of cosmetic surgery has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed, different health problems, and even suicide. The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was transferred to the breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and only in 1962, the modern ...
