concerns in their business activities and in interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.
In this global context, voluntary social and environmental practices of business, going beyond
companies existing legal obligations, can play a major role in filling the governance gap in an
innovative way. The sector is characterized by controls across the entire value chain of sugar
production and sale, which not only hampers its efficiency but also exacerbates the cyclicality in
sugar and sugarcane production. The growth and development in sugar sector in the country in

Dating back to the 1800 s, the trajectory started off with an immigrant Charles Henry Cates who
opened C H Cates Towing and built the first cargo handling wharf on North Vancouver waterfront.
Throughout many different owners, changes, acquisitions and investments, Seaspan has thrived
and grown enormously to be what it is today. Throughout history the original 2 companies that we
can establish as the actual beginning of Seaspan were Genstar and Dillingham Corporation back

This last vessel was originally built in 1974, but at that time it belonged to Incan Marine LTD).
There are three more barges that are currently still in use and working well and those are the
barge pusher tug, (Seaspan Challenger/Coastal Spirit, Arctic Hooper/Fraser Link, and the Sea
link Pusher/Vanisle Link). Seaspan had 3 former ferries that were sold to Abu Dhabi MAR a
luxury yacht builder. A ferry that was in use from 1968 to 1972, and as of 2012 the ferry was
mothballed in North Vancouver. Seaspan ferries is a corporation of commercial roll on roll off
ferry service, providing scheduled transportation between British Columbia s Lower mainland,
terminal in Delta, Vancouver islands, Nanaimo and Swartz Bay terminals. This service carries
/transports semi truck trailers, containers, and railcars on self propelled ferries and integrated tug
barge units . Seaspan Barges haul materials from the forest (logs), minerals, railcars, plus
machinery, fuel and supplies to coastal communities. Tug Boats Seaspan has under its name
another branch which is tugboats, they have a very large fleet for many different uses. They have
