Single Blind Experiment
If I were a psychologist trying to determine if this claim is valid, I would set up a single blind
experiment to see if the aroma of jasmine could help reduce depression. Aromatherapy is a type of
therapy that incorporates essential oils to help improve a person s mood (Krans). It is thought that the
chemicals from the oil will travel up the nasal cavities to the olfactory receptors, which then send a
signal to the olfactory bulbs, and then finally connecting to the limbic system where emotion,
motivation, and memory are regulated (Ciccareli). During the single blind experiment, the participants
would know I am trying to reduce depression, but would not know which scents I am testing. The first
step would be to step up a hypothesis. For

The Path Of An Instructional Designer Because
When I joined the United State Air Force in 2004, I quickly learned how easy it is to pass the blame. I
noticed early in my military career, that broken processes were often ignored. Meanwhile, the person
at the tactical level of the process was blamed for the result. After all the punishments are dealt out,
new employees are assigned to the project, and all the smoke clears, the same problems seem to
persist. When I suspect a process is inefficient, I feel a strong urge to find out why these issues exist
and then find solutions. This is often a pursuit that puts me at odds with some supervisors, but
cherished by some subordinates. It s not hard for me to recognize that most employees want to excel at
their jobs. Unfortunately, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teaching students to work on the B 52 aircraft in Minot, North Dakota during the dead of winter bears
some unique challenges. It takes a strong leadership ability to motivate students to perform hands on
task while enduring 30 degree below zero temperatures. In the Air Force s Non Commissioned Officer
Academy (NCOA) I was awarded the Distinguished Graduate for displaying that level of leadership.
I feel that underneath all the positional authorities of leadership, the true test is the ability to empower
people. This is the reason why I want to not only learn how to use technology in an education setting;
I also want to improve the lives of students with leadership. I believe that the educational technology
leadership program at George Washington University is the only program that perfectly meshes the
two together. In my opinion, human performance is the key to learning. However, it seems as though
education sometimes focuses on the information that needs to be taught instead of the outcomes. Dr.
Watkins publication highlighted this theory in previous work by Robert Mager. Watkins (2010) stated
instructional designers should move beyond determining what instructors should teach; rather, they
should focus on understanding what learners should be able to do as a result of the instruction.
Technology can serve as an excellent starting point for student centered learning.
Technology and leadership are the two elements that draw me to this program. There are

Technology In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
Fahrenheit 451 Technology
In Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury, there was a lot of distractions, and loss of human
connection due to the use of technology. In the setting of Fahrenheit 451 books were banned to
everyone in the nation so everyone relied on technology. The government used the technology to
brainwash the citizens into believing this false sense of happiness, but in reality no one was actually
happy. Technology plays a huge part in Fahrenheit 451, the 1950 s, and in today s society. In
Fahrenheit 451 the society resorted to technology for happiness. The government banned books to
disable people from having the ability to know more than them. They thought that technology would
make everyone happy, but it was all fake. Mildred for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She used technology all the time and despised books. Technology stripped away human connection
because everyone either watched their parlor walls and had fake families such as Mildred, or listened
to their seashell radio. In the 1950 s technology wasn t as advanced as it is today or in Fahrenheit 451,
but there still was some technology. In movies back in the 50 s, everything just seemed perfect. You
would see picture perfect families with the moms staying home with the kids, and the dad coming
home from work to his family extremely happy, when that was not how people actually felt. During
the 1950 s America was at war with Korea, so it would be very unlikely for people to be living life
joyfully when your nation is at war. In today s society, technology still distracts people from their
everyday lives, but not as bad as it did in Fahrenheit 451. Today we have way more technology than
people in the 1950 s did and we use it way more. Television would be a perfect example of a
distraction. Most people in today s society would rather watch television rather than going outside to
exercise. Technology can also be brainwashing. If you are watching tv or on your phone, an ad or
commercial might pop up trying

Plato Vs. Aristotle On Observational And Deductive Reasoning
Since the early sixth century, the questions of reality, matter, and change have perplexed philosophers.
These questions have since become a major topic of inquiry amongst philosophers eventually
garnering the attention of notable figures such as Plato and his pupil Aristotle. Although both Plato
and Aristotle shared many similar notions of order and an eternal universe, their methods of
inquisition as well as their theories of reality and truth vary significantly. This difference would
eventually lead them to develop vary different notions of real knowledge. Plato primarily focusing on
theoretical and mathematical proofs while Aristotle on observational and deductive reasoning
primarily in the field of biology. Due to these stark differences in both men s philosophy, I will be
contrasting both their beliefs, theories and methods, as it relates to knowledge, its acquisition and
change. I will also be discussing my opinions as the importance of their individual philosophy as it
relates to answering these questions.
Although Plato and Aristotle both believed that logic and order governed the natural world, they
disagreed on the nature of this design and thus their ideas of reality. Plato believed that all things in
our world are innately imperfect. The thing we see are just crude representations of an abstract
universal construct. Plato referred to this abstraction as the form which exists independently of all
material things in the mind of some divine architect (the

Essay about Johnson VS Madison
Johnson became the 36th President of the United States a few short hours after the assassination of
JFK. Known as one of the greatest political persuaders of the times, he sought the Greater Good of the
people. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States. Although he was president, he is
better known as the father of the Constitution . He led our fledging nation through the difficult War of
1812. Lyndon Johnson s presidency was embroiled in foreign nations as was Madison s. An advocator
of the space program, Johnson and the leaders of Russia worked things out between their two nations.
During Johnson s presidency, Vietnam became his defining moment. Unfortunately, many people
believe this to be his greatest failure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This memorial brought about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the first of many Civil Right Acts. In 1965,
Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act which did away with literacy voting tests. These literacy tests
prevented the African American citizen from voting. He went on to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1968,
the Equal Housing Act. Interestingly enough, Johnson appointed the first black Supreme Court Justice,
Thurgood Marshall. He even surrounded himself with colored advisors so as to not appear as a
hypocrite. All the Civil Rights Acts prompted Johnson to start his Great Society ideas.
Slavery still existed during Madison s presidency so there was no great reform there. However, in
1811, Madison vetoed two bills of Congress that tried to grant land to religious congregations. His
reasons for the veto were the bills violated the non establishment clause of the first Amendment that
Madison helped write. Later that same year, Congress passed a Religious Freedom Act that Madison
signed into bill. He wrote many statements concerning the fact that church and state should be
separate and continued to live by those statements throughout his Presidency. Interestingly enough,
Madison supported the Native American populations living on American soil. In fact, he ordered the
protection of their lands from foreign invasions. In order for him to pass his Great Society , Johnson
had to seek Congressional resolution. He was very persuasive in his arguments. After all, he was a

Analysis Of Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold
(Not) Alone in the Sea of Faith Published in 1867, Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach is short lyrical
elegy that depicts a couple overlooking the English Channel, questioning the gradual, steady loss of
faith of the time. Set against this backdrop of a society s crisis of faith, Arnold artfully uses a range of
literary techniques to reinforce the central theme of the poem, leading some to argue that Dover Beach
was one of the first free verse poems of the language. Indeed, the structure and content of the poem
goes against all traditional romantic love sonnets of the day with a decidedly more melancholic and
darker tone. Whilst respected critic Stefan Collini explores the notion that Arnold s poem is too
focused on the poet s own melancholic mindset, I will endeavour to provide an alternative viewpoint
which will reason that Arnold successfully delivered a wider commentary about the crisis of faith that
resonated not only with Arnold himself, but with the audience. The poetic techniques that Arnold
employs through shifts in metre, rhythm and form serve to reinforce the change in human condition
that Arnold is depicting in the poem. This is perhaps best illustrated through examining the meter of
Dover Beach, which for all its apparent minimalism and ease, is subtler than one might think. The
poem is comprised of four stanzas, which while differing in length appear to retain a loose semblance
of iambic rhythm. If we examine Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light

I used to be one of the most top feared demons in Ambrosine. Then, I was exiled to the human world.

Demon Masters would even risk the talk and gossip of exiling one of their best students. Honestly, it

Demons at the House of Akuma court room, and they brought in Luka. So, I guess your the one who

Uh, yeah. What a wonderful greeting by the way, I retorted, starting to walk ahead of him towards
Aliah, Cerberus, and Melaina. The rulers of Ambrosine, the Head Demons, the people you would
never want to meet. Well, Aliah started, frowning slightly. His long, dark brown hair was back in a

The Sport Of Wrestling During The 16th And 16th Century
Do you know what sport was established in the 15th and 16th century? Many people may not realize
that the great sport of wrestling was established so long ago. However, wrestling is much different
now than it was when it first came about. Since the sport of wrestling began, major changes and
advancements have come about which have changed the sport tremendously and made it what it is
today. Wrestling is one of the oldest sports, and it has a lot of historical background. Wrestling was
established in the 15th and 16th century, but it was not a competitive sport at the time. There have
been cave drawings of wrestling found from 3000 B.C., which shows that either the sport or at least
ideas about the sport have been around for a long time (Olympic). It was during the pioneer days that
wrestling s popularity began to grow. In Canada, there was a wrestling champion from each of the
small villages and settlements. After the champions were crowned, they would all compete against
each other and whoever won was the best of the best (Wrestling). A wide variety of people were
involved in wrestling, even some presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
Washington was good enough to win a tournament, and at one point in history, there was a style of
wrestling named after him. That style, however, is no longer used in today s sport. Wrestling is a very
popular sport not only in the U.S. but all over the world. In France, wrestling was very popular.

Effects of landslides
In hilly terrains of India, Himalayan Mountains, Western Ghats and northeastern part, landslides have
been one of the major natural disasters that strike life and property almost perennially. These
landslides, year after year, bring about untold misery to human settlements apart from causing
devastating damages of transportation and communication network.
(i)Landslides cause property damage: Injury and death and adversely effect a variety of resources. For
example, water supplies, fisheries, sewage disposal systems, forests, dams and roadways can be
affected for year after a slide event.
(ii)The negative economic effects of landslides: It include the cost to repair structures, loss of property
value, disruption of transportation routes, medical posts in the even of injury, and indirect costs such
as lost timber and lost fish stocks.
(iii)Quantity and quality: Water availability, Quantity and quality can be affected by landslides.
Geotechnical studies and engineering projects to assess and stabilize potentially dangerous sites can be
costly. Large, infrequent landslides contribute less to personal and property losses than do the smaller,
more frequent slides and debris torrents in populated areas.

Multitasking Affects The Brain
Multitasking affects the brain and is a serious problem. When someone is texting, or talking on the
phone while studying or doing a paper, their brain cannot focus on both and the person could end up
failing the test or getting a bad grade on their paper because the brain is trying to process information
from studying or doing homework, and texting or talking on their phone. Students and even people
think they can multitask but they cannot, it is not possible to focus on two or more tasks at a time
without the brain forgetting some information, the brain needs time to process the information and to
switch gears after each task. The brain can only focus on one task at a time. Multitasking is harmful

A decrease in the ability to focus on complex tasks, a decrease in long term memory and an increase in

takes more time to do different tasks all the time than just focusing on one task at a time. They will

The Ring Fencing Of A Bank
We now going to critically assess the statement that the ring fencing of a bank s retail banking services
from their more risky investment, wholesale and proprietary banking activities, scheduled to take
place in 2018 2019, is the last and most necessary reform of the UK banking system to prevent a
recurrence of a major financial crisis such as the one the occurred in 2008 2010.
Ring fencing is the separation of all the Bank s critical banking services from their investment and
wholesale banking services . This means to segregate the retail banking from investment banking to
protect consumers from systemic problems with the system.
On 4th February 2013 the Financial Services (Banking Reform) Bill (the Bill) was introduced to
Parliament. This Bill has sought to implement the ring fencing proposals of the UK Independent
Commission of Banking (ICB), which is also known as the Vickers report. The Bill also represents the
UK s response to wider international calls to structurally reform banks, such as the Liikanen reports
proposals on reforming the structure of the EU banking sector .
The ICB was announced after the formation of the coalition government in 2010, and its
recommendations fell under three headings: retail ring fence; loss absorbency; and competition. The
ICB said that the ring fence s purpose is to separate banking activities where the continuous provision
of service is vital to the economy and to customers of a bank. This is order to ensure that the provision

Difference Between Young Goodman Brown And Young Goodman...
When an individual s perception of someone significant to them changes, their impression and outlook
on life does as well, thus resulting in their character and interaction with their environment to be
altered.
The contrast in the characters perception in the short stories Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel
Hawthorne and The Courtship of Mr. Lyon by Angela Carter can be analyzed through perspective. In
Young Goodman Brown , the events that occurred in the forest mortified Brown and caused his
awareness of Salem village to falter, which in turn led to his dark, cynical transformation in character.
Throughout his journey, he constantly attempted to fight the temptation of evil, however, it was only
until he discovered that his dear wife Faith converted that caused his beliefs to waver. He was unable
to comprehend having the one, most important figure in his life suddenly change, as seen in the lines:
My Faith is gone! cried he after one stupefied moment. There is no good on earth; and sin is but a
name. Come. devil; for to thee is this world given (Hawthorne 4). His perspective on his existence
changed drastically into seeing only the evil in his society and his pious ideals forever lost. This
contrasts with the Beast in the Courtship of Mr. Lyon who was an unpleasant, lonely individual who
lived an isolated life until he became acquainted with Beauty. He was a jaundiced character who
caused an inconvenience to Beauty and her father merely because of his own wishes,

Its obvious non renewable resource that will not refill. Nearly everything in the modern world is made
with oil in some way. If the reserves deplete gas prices will go up and many people will go without
heat and electricity or cars. You can argue that we have time before the reserves deplete but maybe not
enough to find a better solution for energy and save oil for things that require it unlike gas arger oil
companies are lying about the vastness of their fields as a business ploy to scare the competition away.
We could make estimates like only half of what the oil companies present but we wouldn t know
because we can t measure. As citizens we cannot measure the volume of an oil reserve because that
information belongs to the oil company. The only time that information will be released is when the
oil is all dried up and the banks and companies have made their profits. The question is can we find a
renewable resource to replace oil and find it by the billions of barrels. As it has been researched by
Peakoil.com the world goes through a billion barrels a day in less then 11 days. if that is correct the
world will need to produce at least 33,180,000,000 barrels of this material per year if it has the same

Great Depression Government Programs
The Great Depression was the longest and deepest depression in American history. It started in 1929
and ended in 1939 (Szostak). The reasoning for this would be: Stock market crash, bank failures,
reduction in purchasing across the board, American economic policy with Europe, and lastly drought
conditions. All were Jurassic conditions that led America into this horrid depression (Kelly). The
government however came up with certain acts and programs to help get us out of this depression. The
government programs that helped Americans during the Great Depression were Roosevelt s New
Deal, Federal Loan Act, and the Agricultural Marketing Act. Roosevelt s New Deal was a major part
in helping end this depression. It was a multitude of acts that were passed, such as: Securities and
Exchange Commission, Civil Conversation Crops, Works Progress Administration, National Recovery
Administration, Federal Emergency Relief Agency, Agricultural Adjustment Act, Homeowners Loan
Corporation, Tennessee Valley Authority, National Labor Relations Act, Social Security
Administration, Soil Conversation Act, Fair Labor Standard Act (Great D., New Deal). Although there
is a lot of acts that were passed, there are some that were more important than others. One being the
Civil Conservation Crops
Vass 8
(CCC) which gave those who did have a job, work. By building bridges, cleaning up campsites,
making fire trails, and to construct dams. Putting over 2 million men to work (WPA). The Federal

Child Labor Industrialization Essay
I believe in the children of the future, are lyrics of The Greatest Love of All, made famous in 1977 and
1985 by George Benson and Whitney Houston respectively. They believed in the value of children in
our society and that they should be protected. However, those people believed in a child s capacity to
change the world in the future. While people in the past saw children as a way to change the world
while they were children. In the late seventeenth century, industrialization arose in England ushering
in a new era of industry in our world. More industry means more workers, including children. With
the rise of industrialization in a nation, child laborers are viciously abused due to their niche roles in

The laborers in the mines are being completely victimized in order to make money, clearly
demonstrated by Disraeli s words. Child labor abuse was not exclusive to coal mines however. The
other large part of English child labor was inside of textile factories. Michael Sadler, chairman of the
UK parliamentary committee looking to pass a bill to limit child labor in Britain, interviewed factory
workers to showcase what happened inside the factories to the British Parliament, in hopes of laws
being passed to stop this. In The Sadler Report, he interviews Mr. Matthew Crabtree. Crabtree
describes the brutality of his working environment where he was a blanket maker. According the
interview, he started working in the factory at age eight, and at that point he would work from six in
the morning to eight at night, with one break for lunch at noon. When the factory was busier, he would
work sixteen hours. Due to the extreme hours, Crabtree reports extreme exhaustion, and loss of
appetite. On top of being kept extremely unhealthy, punishments were doled out often. Crabtree
reports that a regular occurrence at the end of the day would be the factory administrators would beat
the fatigued children who were too tired to keep up with production. He himself describes being
beaten with at piece of the machinery called a billy, saying, I had been struck[...] so much so as to

Historical Development of Law Enforcement Essays
Since 27 B.C. law enforcement has been used by humans as a means to defend property and keep
peace. Law enforcement has been changing ever since it was created. It will keep changing for the
greater good of the community as long is there is a continual need for law enforcement.
According to REAL POLICE. (N.D.) Para 5, the first organized police force was created by the great
nephew of Julius Caesar, Gaius Octavius in 27 B.C. These men were called Vigiles. The Vigiles were
armed with wooden clubs and small swords. They were formed to perform two duties, fight fires in
the city and arrest law breakers. The prefect of the Vigiles became a powerful man. He had the ability
to judge and sentence lawbreakers.

New York used bells to communicate with other officers out of voice range. There were ten different
bell codes used by the New York police. Also, New York replaced drafted citizens with paid watch
standers in 1658. REAL POLICE. (N.D.).
Research by Schmalleger (2005) shows that in 1829, the world s first modern police force was
formed. Sir Robert Peel selected 1,000 men to wear a uniform and patrol the streets. These uniformed
men were called Bobbies. The new police were founded on two principles, one, belief that it was
possible to discourage crime, and two, practice of preventive patrol. To this day, Bobbies still patrol
the streets of England.
Law enforcement was almost non existent in the American West during the late 1800 s and early 1900
s. Outlaws ruled the land with few worries about law enforcement. Only the bravest men would
attempt to police the west. Some of these brave men were self appointed law men, men like Charles
Lynch, a former Virginia farmer, and Wyatt Earp. These brave men were called Vigilantes and they
tracked down criminals in the west. With out them the west would have been to violent for the
expansion of the country. Schmalleger (2005).
Women began involvement with police work in 1845. They were assigned as matrons in the New York
Police Department. In 1893, the Mayor of Chicago appointed Marie Owens as the first woman to have

The Role Of Art And Architecture In The Late Roman Culture
The role of art and architecture in shaping communities has transformed places and cultures
throughout history. The Late Roman culture is certainly no exception. Here we see the stark difference
of cultural influences through the lens of religion Christianity and Judaism. It has been said that art is
the universal language; able to transcend fundamental differences in culture and philosophy to help
define communities. Art, as a shared attribute of a community, has the ability to enhance the quality of
the community through the strength of the connections it creates among its members. A focus and
commitment to art within communities can bring about a better understanding of each other even
within the disparate groups of the Jews and Christians in Late Rome.
In these two examples of architecture and their art; the Catacombs at Villa Torlonia, Rome 3rd C,
Menorahs and Ark of the Covenant, and the Catacombs of Commodilla, Rome 4th C, Peter Strikes
Water from Rock, Martyrs Felix Adauctus, Pantocrator, we can see how two pieces of architecture and
their art, reinforce Jewish and Christian communities in the way they worship and how that influenced
their communities while living in Late Rome.
The artwork in the architecture of the catacombs of Villa Torlonia, Rome, 3rd C, The

Analysis Of And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Intertextuality is a literary technique that weaves together and creates a relationship between two texts,
enriching the reader of the primary text with a look into history, and the ability to further interpret
what they are reading. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED Online) intertext is defined
as A text considered in the light of its relation to other texts; ( intertext def. 1), meaning that intertext
is when a text is better understood by having knowledge of the text that it alludes to. In Mary Barton,
Elizabeth Gaskell uses intertextuality to further demonstrate key concepts present in the text by
alluding to works of other famous authors, well known biblical passages, and Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein. By doing this, she effectively shows how the relationship between the working class and
the middle to upper class must be compassionate and understanding of their shared connection in
order to be successful. The use of allusions in this text is both a formal and thematic technique.
Appendix C of the Oxford World s Classics edition of this novel provides two of William Gaskell s
lectures on Lancashire dialect, showing the ways in which he and Elizabeth intensely studied the
origin of words from this region. Here, he focuses on tracing the history of words, everything from
who created it first, where it has been used since then and the ways it is used in Lancashire at the time
of the lecture. The reason this point is so important and interesting is

New England Church Case Study
Dear Elders of the Highland church of Christ,
I hope you are all well and thriving continuously in the Lord. As you may know, my wife and I are
planning to move to London, England this winter, Lord willing before the summer to work with the
Stratford church of Christ. We are excited and are grateful for all the encouragement and prayers that
have been lifted in His Name for this work and our success in fulfilling the Great Commission. We
also thank God for the Highland congregation in your example of servitude and love for Christ and
lost souls.
The Stratford church of Christ was first founded in October 2002 after years of the East end of
London being without a congregation. These passionate, faithful saints grew in number and today

We desire this so that we may together model ourselves after Jesus and His Kingdom.
Secondly, we want to help grow and nurture Stratford to be an encouragement and blessing to not just
congregations in London but also to congregations throughout England, the United Kingdom, and
abroad.
Thirdly, we plan to engage in the outreach of this populated and diverse section of London through
one on one and group discussions and studies of Christ and His Word, developing a strong presence,
relationship, and service in the community, and by showing the city of London the beacon of light the
Stratford congregation is and can continue to be.
The Stratford congregation is a congregation of passionate Christians who have a desire to fulfill the
work of the kingdom, and they desire for us to labor with them in a full time capacity. A work of this
magnitude in a city ranked in the top 30 most populated cities in the World would require for someone
to help them on a full time basis. In order for my wife and I to move to London and begin this work
full time, we need to raise living expenses for this commitment of about $1800 US dollars per month.
The Stratford congregation is going to be able to support us with £500 a week, which is roughly $633
USD. Their generous help will allow us to pay rent, utilities, and transportation. The eventual goal of
the congregation financially is to be completely self supporting in the future. Until that time, we will
need stateside help financially with living

Buying A New Home Market
The choice to purchase a new home in today s market is very challenging to make after considering
the disadvantages and the advantages. The current real estate market decides that today is the excellent
time to buy a house as prices and the interest rate are still low. Sadly, many economic signals reveal
that the real estate market may not have reached the bottom yet and more losses might be in store for
the near future. The choice to buy real estate should be meticulously considered and massively
dependent upon the actions of the local real estate market neighboring today s buyers and sellers. A lot
of the main principles of economics such as trade offs; incentives and opportunity cost directly relate

In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand
incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity cost,
or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is typically basic
because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The opportunity cost for
sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with buyers who do not intend to
buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as important to buyers in this type of
market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can easily become desperate to sell a home
quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s
market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as seller improvements that could help buyers with
closing costs because the number of homes available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have
limited choices of homes for sale. In this position, sellers have a provisional advantage over buyers
because sellers can demand full price, cash only, and zero incentive to close the transaction. The
opportunity cost is typically essential for sellers in this market because they can simply wait for the
right buyer to bid on convenient homes

There are many reasons why Machiavelli is widely considered the beginner of modern political
thought, one of the many is he studied strictly the politicians, and businessmen. Machiavelli
recognized the political playing field as a vile place only for the most dominating and cunning of
political giants. One of Machiavelli s most famous work, On Principalities, or known by the other

challenge than just changing it to fit what the people and the nobles want it to be. Living in the what is
allows more of the power to be set to the holder rather than making changes to the what it ought to be
and allowing power to slowly slip into the public based on their opinion.
Machiavelli s works and thoughts were lousily connected to how he viewed human nature, he believed
people were mostly self centered, even though many of their affections for others could be won over

Glastonbury Festival Shortage
A shortage of event loos could scupper your plans You may remember back in 2012, the world famous
Glastonbury festival being cancelled. While the vast majority of people had it put down to a shortage
of police officers due to the London Olympics, the festival organiser Michael Eavis, also recalls a
shortage of portable loo hire being one of the main reasons to shut down the event. The huge shortage
in and around the capital meant a significant lack of event loos everywhere else. Despite Glastonbury
being one of the biggest festivals in the world, alongside the likes of Coachella in LA and Roskilde in
Denmark, they own only half of the mobile loos they actually need resulting in them needing to hire
the rest. As a result of huge demand for them during the London Olympics however, they were unable
to locate any at a reasonable cost and were inevitably forced to close down the festival. In spite of
regularly taking a year off every five or six years, this unexpected turn of events meant closing the
festival earlier than usual and disappointing their loyal attendees but this doesn t just happen to events

Federalist 10 Summary
In Federalist 10 , James Madison explains and protects the checks and balances system in the
Constitution of the United States. He says how each branch of our government is outlined so that its
power checks the powers of the two other branches. He explains this by stating that there are factions,
a majority faction and a minority faction. These factions are unified by a common belief or interest,
and aim to protect the rights or interests of their community. If the power of the majority went
unchecked, then the power they received could then be used to oppress the unpopular, or minority,
views. The majority could also use their new power to take away the rights given to the minority. It is
stated in Federalist 51 that ... all authority in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cases, there seems to be a biased when it comes to the rights of minorities when being
accused of crimes. Some believe minorities or people of color are pulled over or suspected more often
than whites, and others believe jurors can be biased when a minority person is being charged with a
crime. Either way, minorities seem to not be given the same fair treatment and rights when accused as
whites, or majorities, are given. For example, in Illinois v. Caballes 2005 the court ruled that the
Constitution did not require police to have reasonable suspicion to use a drug detection dog on a car
during a legal traffic stop. This may leave room for preferential treatment towards whites (majority)
who are seen making a traffic violation, and minorities who are seen making a traffic violation. A
police officer may see two cars speeding, one car with a white male driving and another car with a
Hispanic man driving, if he were to choose to pull over the Hispanic male and not pull over the while
male, then this can be seen as protecting the rights of the majorities over the minorities. (Illinois v.

Stereotypes In A Doll s House
A man standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square, a second plane crashing into the World Trade
center, a group of soldiers raising the American flag at Iwo Jima, all have one thing in common, they
are all recognizable images captured in time through photography. Photography has challenged what
was achievable numerous times, and now it is one of the greatest influential mediums of the modern
society. Photography has advanced tremendously over time. At the beginning a person needed to stay
still for several minutes for a colorless black and white image. Moving was never allowed permitted,
for it would distort the image and result in it bury. Eventually, it would advance so that with only one
flash, a person could see an image of that time. But still, it was black and white and, if a person
moved, the image would come out blurry. Over time, the fluidity of what a camera can do and can
now accomplish, have changed. This is tantamount to how challenges to uprooting the traditional the
roles of women have led to changes and advancements in modern time. Henrik Ibsen s 1879 play, A

Willy Loman As A Tragedy
The Merriam Webster s collegiate dictionary defines tragedy as an event causing great suffering,
destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe. . There is a lot of
controversy on whether or not Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller is a tragedy. Many argue that it is
not because no real grief or pity is created in the audience throughout the story; however, many more
thematic elements are included in this play. Willy Loman, the center of the story, wants to live a
perfect life but he never accomplishes his dreams. His pride essentially causes his own death and the
tragic ending to the story. Rather than living an easy, pleasing life, he lived filled with agony and
disappointment. Willy Loman was more concerned with being liked and powerful than he was with
his own family, his American Dream was unattainable, and his pride brought his own downfall, all of
which created a tragic story. Work consumed Willy s whole life. The most important thing in life to
him was to be a successful businessman that had many friends and was well liked. Most of the time,
his dream, or the American Dream clouded his head and made him neglect his family. Without a
penny to his name, three great universities are begging for him, and from there the sky s the limit,
because it s not what you do, Ben. It s who you know and the smile on your face! It s contacts, Ben,

  • 2. Single Blind Experiment If I were a psychologist trying to determine if this claim is valid, I would set up a single blind experiment to see if the aroma of jasmine could help reduce depression. Aromatherapy is a type of therapy that incorporates essential oils to help improve a person s mood (Krans). It is thought that the chemicals from the oil will travel up the nasal cavities to the olfactory receptors, which then send a signal to the olfactory bulbs, and then finally connecting to the limbic system where emotion, motivation, and memory are regulated (Ciccareli). During the single blind experiment, the participants would know I am trying to reduce depression, but would not know which scents I am testing. The first step would be to step up a hypothesis. • 3. The Path Of An Instructional Designer Because When I joined the United State Air Force in 2004, I quickly learned how easy it is to pass the blame. I noticed early in my military career, that broken processes were often ignored. Meanwhile, the person at the tactical level of the process was blamed for the result. After all the punishments are dealt out, new employees are assigned to the project, and all the smoke clears, the same problems seem to persist. When I suspect a process is inefficient, I feel a strong urge to find out why these issues exist and then find solutions. This is often a pursuit that puts me at odds with some supervisors, but cherished by some subordinates. It s not hard for me to recognize that most employees want to excel at their jobs. Unfortunately, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teaching students to work on the B 52 aircraft in Minot, North Dakota during the dead of winter bears some unique challenges. It takes a strong leadership ability to motivate students to perform hands on task while enduring 30 degree below zero temperatures. In the Air Force s Non Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA) I was awarded the Distinguished Graduate for displaying that level of leadership. I feel that underneath all the positional authorities of leadership, the true test is the ability to empower people. This is the reason why I want to not only learn how to use technology in an education setting; I also want to improve the lives of students with leadership. I believe that the educational technology leadership program at George Washington University is the only program that perfectly meshes the two together. In my opinion, human performance is the key to learning. However, it seems as though education sometimes focuses on the information that needs to be taught instead of the outcomes. Dr. Watkins publication highlighted this theory in previous work by Robert Mager. Watkins (2010) stated instructional designers should move beyond determining what instructors should teach; rather, they should focus on understanding what learners should be able to do as a result of the instruction. Technology can serve as an excellent starting point for student centered learning. Technology and leadership are the two elements that draw me to this program. There are ... • 4. Technology In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury Fahrenheit 451 Technology In Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury, there was a lot of distractions, and loss of human connection due to the use of technology. In the setting of Fahrenheit 451 books were banned to everyone in the nation so everyone relied on technology. The government used the technology to brainwash the citizens into believing this false sense of happiness, but in reality no one was actually happy. Technology plays a huge part in Fahrenheit 451, the 1950 s, and in today s society. In Fahrenheit 451 the society resorted to technology for happiness. The government banned books to disable people from having the ability to know more than them. They thought that technology would make everyone happy, but it was all fake. Mildred for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She used technology all the time and despised books. Technology stripped away human connection because everyone either watched their parlor walls and had fake families such as Mildred, or listened to their seashell radio. In the 1950 s technology wasn t as advanced as it is today or in Fahrenheit 451, but there still was some technology. In movies back in the 50 s, everything just seemed perfect. You would see picture perfect families with the moms staying home with the kids, and the dad coming home from work to his family extremely happy, when that was not how people actually felt. During the 1950 s America was at war with Korea, so it would be very unlikely for people to be living life joyfully when your nation is at war. In today s society, technology still distracts people from their everyday lives, but not as bad as it did in Fahrenheit 451. Today we have way more technology than people in the 1950 s did and we use it way more. Television would be a perfect example of a distraction. Most people in today s society would rather watch television rather than going outside to exercise. Technology can also be brainwashing. • 5. Plato Vs. Aristotle On Observational And Deductive Reasoning Since the early sixth century, the questions of reality, matter, and change have perplexed philosophers. These questions have since become a major topic of inquiry amongst philosophers eventually garnering the attention of notable figures such as Plato and his pupil Aristotle. Although both Plato and Aristotle shared many similar notions of order and an eternal universe, their methods of inquisition as well as their theories of reality and truth vary significantly. This difference would eventually lead them to develop vary different notions of real knowledge. Plato primarily focusing on theoretical and mathematical proofs while Aristotle on observational and deductive reasoning primarily in the field of biology. Due to these stark differences in both men s philosophy, I will be contrasting both their beliefs, theories and methods, as it relates to knowledge, its acquisition and change. I will also be discussing my opinions as the importance of their individual philosophy as it relates to answering these questions. Although Plato and Aristotle both believed that logic and order governed the natural world, they disagreed on the nature of this design and thus their ideas of reality. Plato believed that all things in our world are innately imperfect. The thing we see are just crude representations of an abstract universal construct. Plato referred to this abstraction as the form which exists independently of all material things in the mind of some divine architect (the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay about Johnson VS Madison Johnson became the 36th President of the United States a few short hours after the assassination of JFK. Known as one of the greatest political persuaders of the times, he sought the Greater Good of the people. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States. Although he was president, he is better known as the father of the Constitution . He led our fledging nation through the difficult War of 1812. Lyndon Johnson s presidency was embroiled in foreign nations as was Madison s. An advocator of the space program, Johnson and the leaders of Russia worked things out between their two nations. During Johnson s presidency, Vietnam became his defining moment. Unfortunately, many people believe this to be his greatest failure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This memorial brought about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the first of many Civil Right Acts. In 1965, Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act which did away with literacy voting tests. These literacy tests prevented the African American citizen from voting. He went on to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1968, the Equal Housing Act. Interestingly enough, Johnson appointed the first black Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. He even surrounded himself with colored advisors so as to not appear as a hypocrite. All the Civil Rights Acts prompted Johnson to start his Great Society ideas. Slavery still existed during Madison s presidency so there was no great reform there. However, in 1811, Madison vetoed two bills of Congress that tried to grant land to religious congregations. His reasons for the veto were the bills violated the non establishment clause of the first Amendment that Madison helped write. Later that same year, Congress passed a Religious Freedom Act that Madison signed into bill. He wrote many statements concerning the fact that church and state should be separate and continued to live by those statements throughout his Presidency. Interestingly enough, Madison supported the Native American populations living on American soil. In fact, he ordered the protection of their lands from foreign invasions. In order for him to pass his Great Society , Johnson had to seek Congressional resolution. He was very persuasive in his arguments. After all, he was a former ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold (Not) Alone in the Sea of Faith Published in 1867, Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach is short lyrical elegy that depicts a couple overlooking the English Channel, questioning the gradual, steady loss of faith of the time. Set against this backdrop of a society s crisis of faith, Arnold artfully uses a range of literary techniques to reinforce the central theme of the poem, leading some to argue that Dover Beach was one of the first free verse poems of the language. Indeed, the structure and content of the poem goes against all traditional romantic love sonnets of the day with a decidedly more melancholic and darker tone. Whilst respected critic Stefan Collini explores the notion that Arnold s poem is too focused on the poet s own melancholic mindset, I will endeavour to provide an alternative viewpoint which will reason that Arnold successfully delivered a wider commentary about the crisis of faith that resonated not only with Arnold himself, but with the audience. The poetic techniques that Arnold employs through shifts in metre, rhythm and form serve to reinforce the change in human condition that Arnold is depicting in the poem. This is perhaps best illustrated through examining the meter of Dover Beach, which for all its apparent minimalism and ease, is subtler than one might think. The poem is comprised of four stanzas, which while differing in length appear to retain a loose semblance of iambic rhythm. If we examine Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light ... • 9. The Darkest Shadow I used to be one of the most top feared demons in Ambrosine. Then, I was exiled to the human world. Roxie. Exiled. Those were two words that never went together until now. Sure, the Demon Masters are sending me some guy Luka to help, but he wasn t exiled, just summoned. I hate the fact that the Demon Masters would even risk the talk and gossip of exiling one of their best students. Honestly, it made no sense. Yeah, sure. I broke a few laws, whatever. It was only for my dad. I know he would ve wanted me to kill Mason anyway. Mason killed him. Ended his life. So I ended his. Yeah, breaking the rules was worth his death. It was illegal to kill another fellow demon, even challenge them. So now, I m being exiled to the human world without any say in it. I packed my bags, met with the Head Demons at the House of Akuma court room, and they brought in Luka. So, I guess your the one who broke the Akuma no shi rule, huh? Luka said, smirking. Uh, yeah. What a wonderful greeting by the way, I retorted, starting to walk ahead of him towards Aliah, Cerberus, and Melaina. Many people may not realize that the great sport of wrestling was established so long ago. However, wrestling is much different now than it was when it first came about. Since the sport of wrestling began, major changes and advancements have come about which have changed the sport tremendously and made it what it is today. Wrestling is one of the oldest sports, and it has a lot of historical background. Wrestling was established in the 15th and 16th century, but it was not a competitive sport at the time. There have been cave drawings of wrestling found from 3000 B.C., which shows that either the sport or at least ideas about the sport have been around for a long time (Olympic). It was during the pioneer days that wrestling s popularity began to grow. In Canada, there was a wrestling champion from each of the small villages and settlements. After the champions were crowned, they would all compete against each other and whoever won was the best of the best (Wrestling). A wide variety of people were involved in wrestling, even some presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Washington was good enough to win a tournament, and at one point in history, there was a style of wrestling named after him. That style, however, is no longer used in today s sport. Analysis Of And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Intertextuality is a literary technique that weaves together and creates a relationship between two texts, enriching the reader of the primary text with a look into history, and the ability to further interpret what they are reading. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED Online) intertext is defined as A text considered in the light of its relation to other texts; ( intertext def. 1), meaning that intertext is when a text is better understood by having knowledge of the text that it alludes to. In Mary Barton, Elizabeth Gaskell uses intertextuality to further demonstrate key concepts present in the text by alluding to works of other famous authors, well known biblical passages, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. By doing this, she effectively shows how the relationship between the working class and the middle to upper class must be compassionate and understanding of their shared connection in order to be successful. • 33. Glastonbury Festival Shortage A shortage of event loos could scupper your plans You may remember back in 2012, the world famous Glastonbury festival being cancelled. While the vast majority of people had it put down to a shortage of police officers due to the London Olympics, the festival organiser Michael Eavis, also recalls a shortage of portable loo hire being one of the main reasons to shut down the event. The huge shortage in and around the capital meant a significant lack of event loos everywhere else. Despite Glastonbury being one of the biggest festivals in the world, alongside the likes of Coachella in LA and Roskilde in Denmark, they own only half of the mobile loos they actually need resulting in them needing to hire the rest. As a result of huge demand for them during the London Olympics however, they were unable to locate any at a reasonable cost and were inevitably forced to close down the festival. • 34. Federalist 10 Summary In Federalist 10 , James Madison explains and protects the checks and balances system in the Constitution of the United States. He says how each branch of our government is outlined so that its power checks the powers of the two other branches. He explains this by stating that there are factions, a majority faction and a minority faction. These factions are unified by a common belief or interest, and aim to protect the rights or interests of their community. If the power of the majority went unchecked, then the power they received could then be used to oppress the unpopular, or minority, views. The majority could also use their new power to take away the rights given to the minority. It is stated in Federalist 51 that ... all authority in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many cases, there seems to be a biased when it comes to the rights of minorities when being accused of crimes. Some believe minorities or people of color are pulled over or suspected more often than whites, and others believe jurors can be biased when a minority person is being charged with a crime. Either way, minorities seem to not be given the same fair treatment and rights when accused as whites, or majorities, are given. For example, in Illinois v. Caballes 2005 the court ruled that the Constitution did not require police to have reasonable suspicion to use a drug detection dog on a car during a legal traffic stop. This may leave room for preferential treatment towards whites (majority) who are seen making a traffic violation, and minorities who are seen making a traffic violation. A police officer may see two cars speeding, one car with a white male driving and another car with a Hispanic man driving, if he were to choose to pull over the Hispanic male and not pull over the while male, then this can be seen as protecting the rights of the majorities over the minorities. Stereotypes In A Doll s House A man standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square, a second plane crashing into the World Trade center, a group of soldiers raising the American flag at Iwo Jima, all have one thing in common, they are all recognizable images captured in time through photography. Photography has challenged what was achievable numerous times, and now it is one of the greatest influential mediums of the modern society. Photography has advanced tremendously over time. At the beginning a person needed to stay still for several minutes for a colorless black and white image. Moving was never allowed permitted, for it would distort the image and result in it bury. Eventually, it would advance so that with only one flash, a person could see an image of that time. But still, it was black and white and, if a person moved, the image would come out blurry. • 37. Willy Loman As A Tragedy The Merriam Webster s collegiate dictionary defines tragedy as an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe. . There is a lot of controversy on whether or not Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller is a tragedy. Many argue that it is not because no real grief or pity is created in the audience throughout the story; however, many more thematic elements are included in this play. Willy Loman, the center of the story, wants to live a perfect life but he never accomplishes his dreams. His pride essentially causes his own death and the tragic ending to the story. Rather than living an easy, pleasing life, he lived filled with agony and disappointment. Willy Loman was more concerned with being liked and powerful than he was with his own family, his American Dream was unattainable, and his pride brought his own downfall, all of which created a tragic story. Work consumed Willy s whole life. The most important thing in life to him was to be a successful businessman that had many friends and was well liked. Most of the time, his dream, or the American Dream clouded his head and made him neglect his family. Without a penny to his name, three great universities are begging for him, and from there the sky s the limit, because it s not what you do, Ben. It s who you know and the smile on your face!
