Analysis Of The Book Georgia Odyssey By James C. Cobb
Written by James C. Cobb, a distinguished history professor at the University of Georgia named B.
Phinizy Spalding, Georgia Odyssey is a revolutionary book covering the state of Georgia from its
humble beginnings as a colony in 1732 to the beginning of a new millennium in 2000. The book
discusses James Oglethorpe s original intentions for the colony, then through the ugly side beginning
in 1751, when slaves were permitted into the colony. Slavery directly impacted the ever developing
definition of American freedom, which is what Cobb conveys throughout the entire book. Personally, I
had not given much thought to the reason of Georgia s success as a state was because of the
phenomenon of slavery. The acclaimed book begins with Georgia beginning as a dry and modest
colony. As the years pass, these ideals and morals are changed to desiring more than a hardworking
farmer. The people of Georgia desired to have slaves. Therefore, Georgia changed and started a path to
become identical to South Carolina. However, as the amount of plantations sky rocketed, so did the
need for more slaves. It is a marvel to imagine that I live in the city of Savannah that was a beacon for
the selling and exchanging of human beings. The ugly history of success does not end when slavery is
outlawed in 1865. Racism was still very much alive in the South. Jim Crow laws were instated in an
effort to halt the freedoms of Black Americans, until they were done away with. Skipping ahead to the
1960s,

The Importance Of Aerobic Life On Earth Essay
Introduction:
Aerobic life on earth is only possible thanks to the oxygen produced by the cellular respiration of
plants and other photosynthetic organisms. This crucial service was recently demonstrated in a 2012
study by Martin et al. titled A paradigm of fragile Earth in Priestley s bell jar. The experiment was
based off of Priestley s now famous bell jar experiment where Priestley first placed a mouse in a
sealed jar without plant life, leading to the mouse s eventual asphyxiation, and placed another mouse
in a sealed jar this time with the addition of mint sprigs. This second mouse survived unscathed and in
an effort to replicate this experiment on a large scale Martin et al. s study focused on keeping a healthy
47 year old man in a small, well lit, and sealed greenhouse filled with a variety of plants for 48 hours.
Their experiment was a success and the oxygen content in the greenhouse actually rose from a
deliberately reduced initial concentration of 12.4 % O2 to an 18.1 % concentration more
representative of our atmosphere.
In our study we sought to compare the oxygen output of three different types of photosynthetic
organisms, a strain of pea plant, a lichen, and an Elodea sp. to find which species yielded the most
oxygen per gram of mass. We hope that the information acquired in our study can be used in a similar
way to Martin et al. s study and hope it will be of especial service those seeking to transport or keep
aerobic organisms in confined spaces,

Applyiing How to Read Literature to the Alchemist

Santiago s Journey
How to Read Literature like a Professor, by Thomas C. Foster, is like painting a picture; with painting
the first step is to paint inside the lines, but an advanced artist understands that a picture is made up of
not just color, texture, and shapes, but also considers the purpose behind each stroke. Foster brings a
different meaning to reading a book and draws attention to the author and his or her intention. While
applying Fosters teaching s to Paulo Coelho s The Alchemist, the main character, Santiago s journey
becomes more than a journey it turns into a quest. Simple drinks and foods turn symbolic into acts of
communion and while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How characters are getting along or not getting along (Foster 80). Drinking wine in a foreign country
where it is illegal, is an act of unity and also Whenever people eat or drink together, it s communion
(Foster 8). To Foster, Breaking bread is an act of sharing and peace (8) Santiago and the Alchemist
would not have shared their last meal together on the Oasis if they had not wanted a peaceful
environment before their journey to come.
At one point, weather becomes vital to Santiago s survival. Santiago and the Alchemist were traveling
through the desert to get to the pyramids when they came across tribesman. The tribesman believe that
Santiago and the Alchemist are spies. The Alchemist explains that he is A guide to his friend (Coelho
139). The tribesman are still curious and proceed to ask about Santiago. The Alchemist says Santiago
is an Alchemist and he understands the forces of nature and wants to show them his extraordinary
powers (Coelho 139). The Alchemist continues explaining that If he wanted to, he could destroy this
camp just with the forces of the wind (Coelho 140). Santiago spends the next three days trying to
control the wind, on the third day the chief came to him wanting to see him turn himself into the wind.

A Report On The And Mielke
Johnson, Patterson, and O Connell (2013) noted that A3 report incorporation effectively addresses
process improvement in the healthcare industry. Dombrowski and Mielke (2013) discussed the
foundational principle of Gemba in the workplace. Gemba is a Japanese term applied to organizational
leaders who observe the workplace to gain knowledge and make decisions based on data and
observations (Hossen, 2015). In the development of the product or service, organizational leaders
observe the process to identify the root cause of problems or opportunities (Dombrowski Mielke,
2013). Organizational leaders avoid defects by identifying and addressing problems through the
Gemba process (Hossen, 2015). Critchley (2015) discussed the spaghetti diagram as a tool to
document movement of a product or individual. To develop a spaghetti diagram, Tu et al. (2012) wrote
that the observer needs an outline and create a structural diagram of the physical location. The
observer outlines and traces the steps that an individual takes or the flow of the process in the
development of the spaghetti diagram (Tu et al., 2012). The observer develops the spaghetti diagram
to visually identify wasted steps or flow throughout the process, to address opportunities to improve
the physical layout of the workplace (Critchley, 2015). Industry leaders utilize standard work to
implement the automation of a particular process (Lu Yang, 2014). Lu and Yang (2014) noted that

A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration
Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as good,
and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the Bible
resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is called typology
and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, written by
Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675, she documented those eleven
weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that starts with seeing her family and
friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine
example of puritan faith who never gave up hope. In Mary Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates
her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on God s providence to revive her spirit daily.
Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby, and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely
on God s providence to keep her and give her favor. She was wounded when taken captive, but God
sent her someone to help her and give her medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves
and laid to my side, and with the blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). We may not
consider these to be big blessings, but to Mary being in such a desolate state that they became her
bread and butter. After the death of her baby and being of low spirits, Mary asked God for a

The Success Of Success At School
The average student in a developed country spends 17.7 years in school. Generally, their success
within these years of learning is measured by their grades and development but rarely on success in
their careers after school. However, despite what many teachers stress to their students, being
successful in school does not ensure a successful career in business as this success requires different
skills and personality traits. A narrow view is often taken where only western countries are compared.
When interpretation of evidence is more international, the understanding of data can change. There are
many examples of successful entrepreneurs who did not thrive in school based learning and just as
many failed business ventures headed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Business success is looked upon by professionals as personal success and satisfaction, financial
success, social prospects (charitable organisation), longevity, and customer/employee satisfaction. The
most relevant of these are financial success and longevity and these will be the references to business
success throughout the following paragraphs.
Being successful in business requires a plethora of different skills and personal attributes, vastly
different to those taught in schools. The majority of the skills professionals believe are necessary for
business are not picked up by students during their school years but are gained through real life
experiences. According to the Government of Queensland, essential business skills include managing
finance and staff, leading a team, networking, ability to comply with legal requirements, productivity,
marketing, communication, initiative and creativity. Skills such as basic written and verbal
communication are taught in the Australian curriculum, however many of these other essential
business skills are not. For example, the skill of being able to manage taxes and book keep for a
business (managing finance) is not taught in the curriculum for a year 10 student. The ability to take
initiative and make the most of opportunities is more about attitude and personality and is not
something that can be taught.
Although many teachers attempt to teach students these skills they may not

The Importance Of Doing Business In India
After Looking at the current ease of doing business rankings that are available for public view at
http://www.doingbusiness.org, there is a lot of insight that can be attained regarding India s
attractiveness towards new entrepreneurs that are looking to break into new international markets. Just
from looking at the data within the site, we see that India is ranked as the 100th country within the 190
countries listed within the index. It is interesting to see that although ranked 100th overall, they
actually have a lot of interesting aspects to their economy that ranks them differently within specific
important aspects that are needed in order to conduct business. One area that India seems to perform
very well within the index is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russia seems to be the most attractive to foreign investors coming in at 35 followed by China, India
and finally Brazil. The main trend seems to be that countries that perform well within the index and
are attractive to foreign clients tend to also perform well in the following areas. Enforcing of
contracts, ease of obtaining electricity, overall ease in process when starting a business and availability
of credit seem to be crucial factors that indicate how easy it will actually be for an individual to
conduct business. In India s particular case there has been a lot of improvement that has catapulted
them from a ranking of 130 to 100 in the recent years there is still a lot of unattended issues that
frustrate individuals. A culture of bribes also seems to be a common thing in the business world within
this country and it appears that nothing moves along unless the right amount is paid to the right
individual who is pushing your agenda. If one was to look at the current rakings for countries within
the BRIC group in comparison with the numbers that the United States has listed, we can begin to
understand where each needs to focus as far as improving their ease of doing business. While there are
areas where the United States does perform worse in comparison with BRIC countries the is a clear
noticeable difference when analyzing the data in comparison to the United States. The combination of

I always heard stories from my dad about how great the 1970s and1980s were but I never could grasp
what was so great about it. After interviewing my father about what made the 1980s unique, special,
and different, I was really able to make a connection of how identical his description was to the one
that took place in Ready Player One. After comparing the similarities between the two, I was also able
to make the connection of how different everything is today compared to the lifestyle back in the

today. I was glued to my Nintendo 64 and could not stop playing Super Mario 64 and NFL Blitz. I was

Sadly my parents never bought me the Gameboy but they made up for it by buying me three of those

about the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I was in the 9th grade had been working about 8 hours week

Psychodynamic Perspective
Introversion is defined as a person who is exhausted with community encounter and choose to
energize themselves by solitary. They are often confused with being shy, but they recommend having
their alone time. In my opinion introversion is something that is learned about a person at an early age.
It cannot be taught or learn once you get older. The psychodynamic perspectives consist in early
childhood experiences and are referred as the unconscious mind that defines an individual personality.
Referring back to the video, as an introvert she found herself wanting to read book instead of
interacting with the fellow campers. Sigmung Fred believe that thing hidden in the unconscious mind

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper
For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend told me about the
new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I had to try it. However, finding it in a
store was more complicated than I had originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able
to find it in a 2 liter bottle and brought it home for me to try. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the
smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was chocolate. The smell was so
strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I
found the drink to be a very dark hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a
nice shade of red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The first
drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I expected to taste more cherry
than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult
to notice any other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very
bitter aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there were hints of
Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at a new flavor from Dr. Pepper
was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would have thought combining three of my favorite
things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr. Pepper would have made

Essay on A Matter of Life or Negligence
American inventor and scientist Thomas Alva Edison once said that opportunitiy is missed by most
people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. Edison s quote, while concise, reveals a
great truth, one that is directly related to an ongoing debate in the United States. The procedures,
morality, and potential success of stem cell research have been discussed in America for more than
one decade, and it remains one of the most debated topics in today s classrooms, newspapers, and
Senate hearings. According to the National Institutes of Health s website, stem cells are cells which
have the capability of becoming virtually any other type of cell. As the NIH points out, this

He explains that during the year 2001, then President George W. Bush signed an executive order,
which restrictively allowed some federal funding to go towards stem cell research . The executive
order was restrictive in the sense that it only allowed the use of taxpayers money to go into stem cells
which had preceded the order itself. Before that time, stem cell research had not received any funding
at all. Shimabukuro continues by stating that a few years later (in 2009, to be specific), however,
current President Barack Obama expanded the funding to include many more stem cells than Bush had
allowed. Shimabukuro says that, ... this measure was celebrated by scientists all over the United
States, as it gave them access to more resources to investigate. According to him, not too long ago,
two members of Congress introduced a bill that would complement Obama s executive order by
giving more federal funding and access to resources to scientists. This would force any future pro life
President to have to resort to Congress in order to be able to downgrade to Bush s policies once again.
Many Congressmen are supportive of stem cell research, but some are not. Some of the reasons why
some people do not support stem cell research will be examined in this paper. Most of the controversy
regarding stem cells arises from a specific type of stem cells, namely human embryonic stem cells. As
explained in Fundamentals of the Stem Cell Debate, a compilation of

Executive Summary The Company Boca Electronics
Executive Summary The company Boca Electronics, is a manufacturer of semiconductor components.
Founded in 2002 this company mains products of production are microprocessors, lighting emitting
diodes (LEDs), rectifiers, suppressors. The company has been doing relatively well financially for the
past 4 years but, has recently started to face some issues due to an economy slowdown and
competition from other competitors within the industry. Also, the company has inherited mainframe
system from their parent company which has led to a breakdown in communication amongst
departments, increased lead times and failure to meet large orders in a short time span (Sanders, p. 87
88). When Boca Electronics forecasts sales and production it is often changed by the time orders have
been placed with the suppliers. Issues also emerge because of lack of sync between the suppliers and
the firm due to which product prices cannot be determined. Also, the accounting department which is
responsible for processing invoices usually has to email managers in other departments due to needed
alterations causing a lot of time wasting. Also, the system used by sales department and other
departments within the company are not the same, which leaves them with inaccurate data as one
department data is updated and others are not. The main issue for these problems is an inadequate
information system used by the company which has resulted in many of the Boca Electronics
problems due to the different

Mandela In South Africa
President Mandela played a big role in stopping South Africans segregation problem. South Africa
several years ago favored white people over the native South Africans. Mandela used rugby and the
native children to help unite the country into one. He used the Springboks (the rugby team
representing South Africa) to coach younger kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team, even
said, I m glad I don t live here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They targeted
younger children because their success with this population appealed to the public. This was very
smart of Mandela because this plan ended up working and all the South Africans who jeered the
Springboks initially, then cheered them on at the World Cup. The coaches visited the youth living in
the slums teaching them rugby. South Africa ended up being the underdogs yet beating two very
talented team and ended up winning. Mandela knew he had to keep all his Africaner employees to
help stop the massive racism issue. All the government workers thought they were being fired but he
gave them the choice to stay or to leave. Many white people hated Mandela, in fact, when he was
released from prison someone said, It s that terrorist Mandela to one of his rugby players. I envy
Mandela s way of maintaining control. He could ve had all the Africaners suffer for what they did to
the native Africans. I don t get how someone who suffered so much is able to forgive so quickly, yet

The Song Human From Her Head Or Heart Album
Is being human perfect without flaws or can we be a little imperfect? Are we humans not permitted to
show weakness? Do we need to act more like machines with no flaws in them? Christina Perri s song
Human from her Head or Heart album, is about being able to admit your defaults and accepting them
without changing yourself. The song Human by Christina Perri uses repetition, symbolism and
metaphor to reveal that we re human that have faults, we cannot be perfect without having faults and
we shouldn t change for anyone. The message of the song is we re human that have faults, we cannot
be perfect without faults and shouldn t try changing for others. The song s constant use of I can... is
saying that we can do anything, but then we hear; I m only human , which contradicts each other.
Because the lyrics saying you can do anything but at the same time its saying we have limits. I can do
it/But I m only human (11, 14). Christina repeats these two phrases through out her song to make us
understand that it s okay to not be perfect. We see that the singer makes herself believe that she cannot
be flawed, because then she won t find happiness. Then she goes and tells us that she s only human,
which we realize that us human are not perfect. Yet she says its fine being defected. The singer makes
us relate to what she is singing about by repeating; And I bleed when I fall down/I m only human/And
I crash and I break down/Your words in my head, knives in my heart/You build me up

Rene Descartes Meditations Of Philosophy
Philosophy 120: Knowledge and Reality
Submitted to Dogan Erisen D106
By: Milad Marghoob Zamany (301 314 568)
Descartes begins the Meditations of Philosophy by rendering the use of the senses as deceptive,
explaining that everything that he had perceived up till now, I accepted as most true I have acquired
either from the senses or through the senses (M.O.P,12). On the other hand, Descartes admits that God
has given us the involuntary use of these senses. If the senses cannot precisely represent the nature of
material bodies, would this not make god a deceiver? Would it not be a wiser choice to make the
intellect the essential means of perceiving the world? Descartes pursues the idea that God cannot be a
deceiver; but if God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sensory perception is beneficial to the body, by granting us the ability to rationalize whether
something is threat to us. However, intellect is crucial is observing the true nature of proportions, but

that our senses allow us to perceive harm and allow us to avoid danger for our own well being. In
other words, God is merely giving us the most apparent way of avoiding harm for our own benefit.
Thus, eliminating the idea of a deceiving

The Hunger Games I chose to the modern mythology known as The Hunger Games a novel written by
Suzanne Collins and later adapted into a feature film. The novel was actually part of a trilogy The
Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The story begins by introducing you to our main
character Katniss Everdeen who lives in a world run by the Capitol where President Snow resides and
has enforced a form of martial law on all 13 districts. Every year the Capitol hosts their annual Hunger
Games which is a form of entertainment for the Capitol. Out of every district two tributes, one boy
and one girl will be picked to participate in the Hunger Games which is a battle to the death.
Whichever tribute manages to survive till the end will be rewarded by getting to stay in the capitol and
their district will be given more food and supplies. The reason Katniss becomes a part of the games is
because her little sister prim is chosen during the reaping to be the tribute so Katniss hearing her
sisters name volunteers as tribute to save her sisters life but she tries to win the games for her district
and to provide for them. The only problem is she finds it hard to murder the other tributes because
they are all so young and she doesn t see why she must kill them for the Capitols entertainment.

Reflection On Ethics
Ethics is a blend of various concepts and fundamental principles of decorous human conduct. It not
only studies these various concepts and principles but also governs the values pertaining to human
rights or natural rights, the essential equality of all men and women across the globe, the basic concern
for health and safety, and also for the natural environment on the whole. Be it any industry, business,
any form of work place, it follows a certain code of conduct, which is legit and undeniable. Apart from
restricting the concept of Ethics only to industries and business, I feel, ethics begins from within.
Ethics are basically the rules or standards leading to the conduct by which I live my life and make all
my decisions. One of the best ways of thinking about ethics is to take a quick look at your beliefs and
then think about how your reactions would be when those beliefs are challenged. Ethics definitely do
not arise out of a mere vacuity, they are more like a puzzle that is thrown together over time, that
when complete makes up who we are and what we believe. We tend to learn from those around us and
the things happening around us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation ( Sco ) Covers More...
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) covers more than three fifths of the Eurasian landmass
and represents one fourth of the world population. In that sense it is the biggest security organisation
in the world next to the UN (Oldberg 2007:13). The SCO is also the only international security
organisation where China is a member and the US is not. Central Asia is at the centre of the
organisation both in a geographical and political sense.
Central Asia is a place where the strategic interests of the world powers intersect. External factors
sustain political, military, and to a large extent economic stability in the region. Russia, the West, and
China act as the main outside stabilizers. World and regional powers actively defend their military
political and economic interests in Central Asia (Baizakova 2013:59).
Under the impact of globalisation the need of cooperation in the realm of security has become all the
more important. If the Central Asian Countries prove incapable of conducting a coordinated policy in
relation to the outside world, they risk losing their strategic position that has been acquired in recent
years in international politics.
Security cooperation in the region takes place within the framework of certain multilateral institutions,
including through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The organisation has shown flexibility and
adaptiveness by its rapid growth, the creation of new institutions and broadening agenda. It serves as a

Teaching And Learning Language At Early Ages
Introducing English as a Second Language to Early Primary School Curriculum in Saudi Arabia
Candidacy Exam Salwa Alkhuzay @02686337 znzr@iup.edu solly440@gmail.com 412 706 1122
Abstract Teaching and learning language at early ages is easier than learning it at older ages as
Chiswick Miller, (2007) emphasized in their study that proficiency in spoken English decreases with
age. With that notion in mind, it comes as a surprise that the English language is introduced so late in
the public school education curriculum in Saudi Arabia. Over the years as more Saudi students leave
their home countries to study in English speaking countries, the demand for English speaking skills
that are beyond just being conversation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many countries non native English speakers are introduced of English as a foreign language in
public schools as a required subject beginning in early primary schools. In Saudi Arabia, in 1927 the
English language was introduced at the secondary schools without a specific syllabus. In 1953,
teaching English language was introduced at intermediate and secondary schools with a specific
syllabus (Al Subahi, 1989). For many years in Saudi education curriculums English courses were
compulsory and started from middle school up to secondary public schools, the students ages from 11
or 12 attended intermediate level and at age 18 finish secondary level. Nevertheless, private schools in
Saudi Arabia start teaching English as a foreign language from first grade onward, however, there are
a lot of students who still find mastering English very difficult, and their performance is still weak. I
certainly regret that this is the case; looking back over our schools I believe they should inspire the
students early about the importance of learning English language for the sake of their future. In short,
learning foreign languages not just for giving ways to communicate with people in other countries, has
become important for those who want to study and get a degree or who want a good job in other
countries such as United States, British, or Australia. Teaching English language to Saudi children will

Indians live in villages, it is important to learn about village lifestyle and the changes that take place in
it. Only then one can learn about the cities because one needs to understand the relationship between

An interesting relationship noticed by the Wisers was that of newly wed girls and their mother in laws.
Mother in laws would keep an eye on their daughter in laws or bahus. These bahus would have to
please their mother in laws and take care of the household and everyone living in the family or in this
case joint family where brothers and their families live together with their parents under one roof.
Therefore, one can see that Karimpur described by the Wisers in 1930 was quite backward and
orthodox. The next half of the paper will be focused on the changes that took place over the decades in
Karimpur. What were the changes in the second half of the century when Wisers and Susan Wadley
visited Karimpur? Firstly, the role of women had changed a little bit. Secondly, education had
increased and more and more villagers had B.A. degrees and moved to cities to find work. Thirdly,
technological changes had brought enormous agricultural growth in the farms. The rigid caste system
had slowed down a little bit and the mutual relationship of Jajmani system had declined as well.
Finally, the younger generation was more in touch with the world through cities and education, the
lower castes had more access to land ownership and most of the mud houses were transformed into
brick houses or pakka houses. The roles of women had started to change in the 60s and later as

Toward a New World Order
Toward A New World Order
In 1988 the world begun to see the start of the most drastic change in geo politics since the end of the
Second World War. New policies set in place by Premier Gorbachev had intended to jump start the
failing Soviet economy, instead they solidified the dissolution of the Soviet Union. By 1986,
Perestroika and Glasnost had led to the liberalization of the USSR economies and politics as never
before seen in history. In 1988, the Communist party lost elections and governmental control in
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belorussia, Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. The
revolutions started in Poland in 1989 and spread to Hungary, East Germany, Bulgaria,
Czechoslovakia, and Romania declaring independence from the Soviet Union. Moscow did not
interfere with any of these uprisings within the eastern bloc.
On September 11, 1990, President Bush addressed a joint session of Congress regarding the Iraqi
invasion of Kuwait, and he discussed an historic period of cooperation, which he called the New
World Order. Bush claimed this new order would be: Freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the
pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace. An era in which nations of the world, East
and West, North and South, can prosper and live in harmony . Again, on January 16, 1991, in an

Caution In The Tell Tale Heart
Have you ever done something that you know was wrong but still did it anyways? Were you able to
pull of a cautious, perfect plan and not get caught? Did your emotions ever overcome you and cause
you to confess? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you may be able to connect with
the main character of this story. In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart is about a man that kills an
old man because of his eye with a film over it. He dismembers the body and buries him under the
floorboards. When the cops come, he starts hearing the sound of the man s heart and it drives him to
confess. Readers learn to do things with caution.
In this part the reader will see the narrator stalk the old man with great caution. Every night about
midnight, I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh so gently! And then, when I had made an
opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed, that no light shone out, and
then I thrust in my head.... I moved it slowly, very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man
s sleep (Poe 1 2). The craft in this is show don t tell because the author shows how the narrator is a

Analyzing The Painting Baptism Of Pocahontas
The painting, Baptism of Pocahontas was commissioned in 1837. John Gadsby Chapman installed the
painting in November of 1840. This painting was created during a time when the United States was
forcefully expanding westward and had implemented a policy to remove the Indian tribes off their
lands. One example of incorporating religious content and context includes Chapman s focus on the
religious ceremony of baptism. This inclusion illustrates the belief among white Americans of this
period that Native Americans could be integrated into the white civilization. Pocahontas choosing to
receive baptism exemplified the promises of this assimilation. Although the painting depicts

Hollywood Vertical Integration
Those who study film surely know the names of brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiére. To many film
historians, these men are credited with history s first public film screening. It is worth noticing that the
Lumiére brothers were responsible for every aspect of their films. This meant that they were in charge
of creating the film and getting it to the audiences. However, as the film industry evolved throughout
the years, these different steps became more complex and needed to be split into three separate stages:
production, distribution, and exhibition. The first stage, production, can be broken down into four
separate parts: development, pre production, production, and post production. In the beginning of
production, the development stage, the idea for the film is carefully selected. Following the selection,
a screenplay is written for the chosen idea and then pitched to a major company. The pitch of the film

However, most people also know that with the spending of money comes risk. Although Hollywood
seems careless with expenditures, the film industry is actually quite conscientious when it comes to
saving time and money, lowering costs and risks, and maintaining the flow of production. In order to
accomplish these things, vertical integration came about which quickly gave rise to Hollywood s
studio system. Vertical integration refers to the owning and involvement in all three stages of the film
industry: production, distribution, and exhibition. This was first seen in the film industry immediately
following WWI when the largest producer distributor created a theater chain. Following this, the
largest exhibition conglomerate became involved in the production of films. Numerous mergers
followed shortly after and created the Big Five: Paramount, MGM, Twentieth Century, Warner

Essay on Gender Stereotypes in the Merchant of Venice
Themes in the Merchant of Venice
Gender stereotypes are not a modern notion and as such expectations and limitations have always
existed for both men and women. Fortunately women, who have formerly beared great burdens of
discrimination, now have very liberated roles in society as a result of slowly shifting attitudes and
values. Shakespeare was integral in challenging the subservient role expected of women in the 16th
century. Throughout the play, The Merchant of Venice , women are expressed as powerful characters
who behave, speak and live in a way that breaks away from the conformist role of females during the
16th century. Therefore, the submissive stereotype expected of women in Shakespearean time is
confronted and defied through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, this positions the audience to view women as strong characters who confront the stereotype
of women as possessions in Elizabethan time.
The characterisation of Jessica further challenges the role and expectations for women in the 16th
century. Jessica is initially bound to her Jewish father, but later elopes with her lover, Lorenzo, defying
the most prominent male in her life to live by her own free will; definitely not a common practice of
her time. Jessica s courage and strength which are exemplified through her actions and are also
expressed in the quote; I am a daughter to his blood; I am not to his manners (Act 2, Scene3, 18 19).
When Jessica says this as she betrays her father to secretly marry Lorenzo, it is clear that she
possesses a strong sense of defiance and strength against this dominant male, showing that she is free
to be her own person and is not going to let her life be run by her father. This brave and controversial
act by a young girl is in stark contrast to the expectations of 16th century society, revealing a hint of
disrespect in the character of Jessica that is admired as a sign of her power. Overall, the actions of
Jessica exemplify Shakespeare s construction of women as powerful characters who

Research Paper On The Moonstone
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins does not follow a traditional marriage driven plot. Although The
Moonstone s plot is not centered on marriage, it becomes essential to the story.
Introduce the characters and the aim of the essay
Without Franklin s drive to get Rachel back, the matter of the stolen moonstone would have been put
to rest. This shows that even though The Moonstone is a mystery novel, marriage plays an essential
role in enhancing the plot. The novel looks at various couples and though it ends with the marriage of
Franklin and Rachel, it does not suggest that all marriages end happily. Collins is known for
developing his ideas about marriage in his writing, including novels such as The Moonstone, The
Woman in White, and many other works. There are things within The Moonstone that both contradict
and support Collins ideas and views on marriage. Collins used his novels as a platform to express his
feeling towards Victorian marriage laws, unmarried woman, and ideas on marriage as a whole.
Marriage plays a crucial role in Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Collins quickly introduces the idea of

The Doctrine Of Jesus Christ
Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand,
and will not give unto him of my food that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just...whosoever
doeth this the same hath great cause to repent (The Book of Mormon Mosiah 4:16). This progressive
quote promotes social welfare and an idea of charity and love that many mainstream Republicans
today do not support. Believe it or not, this is not a statement recently made on some left wing
political talk show, this is directly from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This same message is echoed
throughout all the books of scripture. The doctrine of Jesus Christ teaches the principles of
compassion, equality, forgiveness, tolerance, and most importantly love; the political ideology that
sides with these ideals is on the left. Stephen Colbert said, If this is going to be a Christian nation that
doesn t help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we ve got to
acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then
admit that we just don t want to do it. The teachings of Jesus Christ do not contradict liberal beliefs,
therefore we, as His disciples, should be more open to non conservative political ideals. For I was an

I Am Number Four Book Report
I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore is about a boy named Number Four. Number Four and eight
others escaped their planet Lorien, during an invasion. Now, they are in hiding from the people that
destroyed their planet. All is well except, the nine people that escaped had powers and can not be
killed out of order by the people that destroyed their planet. One through three were captured, and
killed and Number Four is next. He has hid his whole life, and he s ready to fight back. He is tired of
hiding and is ready to fight for his planet back.
I found this book to be very entertaining and well written. I really loved how the author wrote about
the invasion throughout the book instead of right in the beginning. I loved how well the characters
were developed. Number Four was developed as a shy kid that isn t afraid to stand up for himself. His
new friend was developed as a paranoid nerd, and lastly, his love interest was developed as a strong,
and independent girl that was an avid photographer and wasn t afraid to stand up for herself. I loved
the point of view because the story was narrated through Number Four s eyes and I felt as though I ...

I am not personally a fan of science fiction however, I was really enjoying the book, even though it is
highly unbelievable. I would rate this book a 7 because I don t particularly enjoy science fiction, but
this book always kept me on edge. I loved how the characters were developed more and more
throughout the book. I felt like I was in the story and felt the same hate towards the bullies that
Number Four felt. Also, I loved the setting and how I was more and more informed about Paradise as
well as Number Four s old home. I decided to read this book because my brother had said it was very
good, and he isn t a fan of science fiction either. I think that people that love a good mystery, and love
a good cliff hanger every chapter, they would really enjoy I am Number

Reasons For Accepting Credit Card Payment
There are many things you must do if you want to stay on top of things and succeed in business.
However, in addition to the things you need to do, there are also certain things you need to know. This
is especially true when it comes to accepting credit card payments. As a merchant who is running a
business, the last thing you want to hear about is more rules and regulations, but considering the recent
EMV Credit Card Liability Shift, there is no time better than now for finally going over some of the
basic Guidelines for accepting credit cards.
There are a huge number of network guidelines issued for accepting card payments, and merchants are
expected to understand them all. Yet, few business owners ever actually read these guidelines.
Unfortunately, this is a notable source of avoidable issues down the road.
Although the extensive fine print and technical jargon in credit card guidelines may be a big turnoff, it
s important to be able to sift through the complicated wording and find the meaning within. Luckily,
you only have to know a few basic rules in order to keep your business going without being penalized.
Reviewing the Rules for Visa, Mastercard, and Amex
Of course there s more than one way to process a credit card; you can take them in store, online, and
by phone. And in addition to different ways to pay, there are of course different brands of cards. The
following covers some general info regarding the BIG 3 and their policies that you need to know .

Can Offensive Art Be Good Analysis
Silverman, Sarah, and Katt Williams. Can Offensive Art Be Great?. Time, 186.11, 2015: 74. Academic
Search Premier, Sarah Silverman is the first to write saying that she believes all art should be allowed
and that artists should be free to make what they want. She also makes the point that no one could
possibly say what art should and shouldn t be aloud because then where would we draw the line. I like
her opinion on this because it s a solid point, and it a point few can argue with. Katt Williams comes in
with a similar opinion but she says art should only be allowed if it has good intentions. I strongly
disagree with this because not all artists are going to making pieces with good intentions because most
art is fueled by emotion which in turn can have bad intentions. So what she says her I don t believe is
valid. Moon, Michael. In Arcadia With Henry Darger. Massachusetts Review, 53.1, 2012: 105 112.

Henry Darger is an american writer and painter who is well known for his paintings depicting
children, mostly little girls, being brutally murder, or mutilated in disturbing ways. His worked being
described as a nightmare and fairy tale mixed together. Moon makes the point that Henry Darger is
smarter and more artistic than most perceive him to be. He has many underlying points and hidden
meanings in his painting and they aren t just about pointless violence and the murdering of children.
Which is the reason such artists shouldn t be censored, because for a lot of artists, there s more than
meets the eye. Which is why I chose this article because even though it s not directly talking about
how Darger should be censored, it gives great examples of why artists shouldn t be censored. The
main point being there s often hidden meaning that we have to find in a piece of

Grease Play Analysis
Grease Play Evaluation Great Theater Company put on the play Grease from April first through the
seventh of 2016. The musical Grease was written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The director of the
performance was David Symalla. Twenty four individuals composed of the entire cast. The whole cast
was eighteen years or older. This gave the play a more mature feel. A live orchestra preformed the
music, which consisted of eight members. The orchestra brought the play to life and made the show
even more enjoyable. The entire cast was amazing at singing. It was clear that there are a lot of
talented people in the central Minnesota area. The performance ran smoothly and no major mistakes
stood out. The characters of Danny, Kenickie, and Rizzo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The microphone could have been louder to hear him better. Even though Sandy was a main character,
she did not capture the attention of the audience like she should have. During the high school prom
scene, the choreography seemed a little boring. More complex dance routines could have been added
to liven up the multiple dance numbers during this scene. Costumes and slang used matched the 1950s
time period. The costumes looked authentic and really set the tone for the play. Slang and language
throughout the play mattered the time period perfectly. A staircase that lit up to the beat of the music
added a lot of interest to multiple dance numbers. Several different sets were set up during the play,
and it was obvious where the characters were. The props and setting structures were constructed very
well. A drag race scene did take place during the performance. The concept of preforming it seemed
difficult, but the special effects and choreography worked out well. It felt like Danny and the rival
gang leader were actually racing on stage. That was extremely impressive. The show was very
entertaining. The language and themes were more mature, so it would not be advised for children to
attend. Many of the jokes were for the

The Impact Of Stereotypes And Stereotypes
The Impact of Stereotypes
Stereotype:
1. A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
2. A person or thing that conforms to a widely held but oversimplified image of the class or type to
which they belong.
Stereotypes are one of the most common issues, today and throughout history, that cause our nation to
be divided. It has a problem inside and out of country. Stereotypes range from false guarantees to bad
interpretations. According to Facing History and Ourselves: Holocaust and Human Behavior,
stereotypes are, based on real or imagined differences between groups, attaches values to those

However, they should not be chastised for their decision.
Throughout history, there have been many experiments and works of literature showcasing the effect
and various perspectives of being marginalized in society. For example, the prose essay written by
Fang Gao titled, What it means to be a model minority : voices of ethnic Koreans in Northeast China.
In this article, he explains the different opinions and struggles that Koreans have, living in China. Gao
suggests that Koreans and Asians share the same racials label: portrayed as a model minority that is
primed for socioeconomic advancement and academic success (qtd. in Gao 55). This stereotype has a
negative effect on both the Chinese and Korean population. The stereotype of a model minority is
making it challenging for Koreans to become their own individual ethnic group in China. Thus,
making them feel unrecognized and marginalized into the chinese population. For instance, some
people are proud to be a Korean in China because it often implies the struggle they went through, in
able to cross the border of communist North Korea and making it into China.
The Koreans accusers expect their children to become successful in their definition, having your head
sticking out above others or graduating from college and holding steady, well respected professional
job or self reliant and financially secure (qtd. in Gao

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Georgia Odyssey By James C. Cobb Written by James C. Cobb, a distinguished history professor at the University of Georgia named B. Phinizy Spalding, Georgia Odyssey is a revolutionary book covering the state of Georgia from its humble beginnings as a colony in 1732 to the beginning of a new millennium in 2000. The book discusses James Oglethorpe s original intentions for the colony, then through the ugly side beginning in 1751, when slaves were permitted into the colony. Slavery directly impacted the ever developing definition of American freedom, which is what Cobb conveys throughout the entire book. Personally, I had not given much thought to the reason of Georgia s success as a state was because of the phenomenon of slavery. The acclaimed book begins with Georgia beginning as a dry and modest colony. As the years pass, these ideals and morals are changed to desiring more than a hardworking farmer. The people of Georgia desired to have slaves. Therefore, Georgia changed and started a path to become identical to South Carolina. However, as the amount of plantations sky rocketed, so did the need for more slaves. It is a marvel to imagine that I live in the city of Savannah that was a beacon for the selling and exchanging of human beings. The ugly history of success does not end when slavery is outlawed in 1865. Racism was still very much alive in the South. Jim Crow laws were instated in an effort to halt the freedoms of Black Americans, until they were done away with. Skipping ahead to the 1960s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Aerobic Life On Earth Essay Introduction: Aerobic life on earth is only possible thanks to the oxygen produced by the cellular respiration of plants and other photosynthetic organisms. This crucial service was recently demonstrated in a 2012 study by Martin et al. titled A paradigm of fragile Earth in Priestley s bell jar. The experiment was based off of Priestley s now famous bell jar experiment where Priestley first placed a mouse in a sealed jar without plant life, leading to the mouse s eventual asphyxiation, and placed another mouse in a sealed jar this time with the addition of mint sprigs. This second mouse survived unscathed and in an effort to replicate this experiment on a large scale Martin et al. s study focused on keeping a healthy 47 year old man in a small, well lit, and sealed greenhouse filled with a variety of plants for 48 hours. Their experiment was a success and the oxygen content in the greenhouse actually rose from a deliberately reduced initial concentration of 12.4 % O2 to an 18.1 % concentration more representative of our atmosphere. In our study we sought to compare the oxygen output of three different types of photosynthetic organisms, a strain of pea plant, a lichen, and an Elodea sp. to find which species yielded the most oxygen per gram of mass. We hope that the information acquired in our study can be used in a similar way to Martin et al. s study and hope it will be of especial service those seeking to transport or keep aerobic organisms in confined spaces, ... Applyiing How to Read Literature to the Alchemist Kiley Dempsey Ms. Jones Honors Tenth Grade Literature Composition 04 September 2012 Santiago s Journey How to Read Literature like a Professor, by Thomas C. Foster, is like painting a picture; with painting the first step is to paint inside the lines, but an advanced artist understands that a picture is made up of not just color, texture, and shapes, but also considers the purpose behind each stroke. Foster brings a different meaning to reading a book and draws attention to the author and his or her intention. Gemba is a Japanese term applied to organizational leaders who observe the workplace to gain knowledge and make decisions based on data and observations (Hossen, 2015). • 6. A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as good, and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the Bible resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is called typology and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, written by Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675, she documented those eleven weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that starts with seeing her family and friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine example of puritan faith who never gave up hope. In Mary Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on God s providence to revive her spirit daily. Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby, and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely on God s providence to keep her and give her favor. She was wounded when taken captive, but God sent her someone to help her and give her medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves and laid to my side, and with the blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). We may not consider these to be big blessings, but to Mary being in such a desolate state that they became her bread and butter. Generally, their success within these years of learning is measured by their grades and development but rarely on success in their careers after school. Being successful in business requires a plethora of different skills and personal attributes, vastly different to those taught in schools. The majority of the skills professionals believe are necessary for business are not picked up by students during their school years but are gained through real life experiences. According to the Government of Queensland, essential business skills include managing finance and staff, leading a team, networking, ability to comply with legal requirements, productivity, marketing, communication, initiative and creativity. Skills such as basic written and verbal communication are taught in the Australian curriculum, however many of these other essential business skills are not. For example, the skill of being able to manage taxes and book keep for a business (managing finance) is not taught in the curriculum for a year 10 student. The ability to take initiative and make the most of opportunities is more about attitude and personality and is not something that can be taught. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I found the drink to be a very dark hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. I expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter aftertaste. Do we need to act more like machines with no flaws in them? Christina Perri s song Human from her Head or Heart album, is about being able to admit your defaults and accepting them without changing yourself. The song Human by Christina Perri uses repetition, symbolism and metaphor to reveal that we re human that have faults, we cannot be perfect without having faults and we shouldn t change for anyone. The message of the song is we re human that have faults, we cannot be perfect without faults and shouldn t try changing for others. The song s constant use of I can... is saying that we can do anything, but then we hear; I m only human , which contradicts each other. Because the lyrics saying you can do anything but at the same time its saying we have limits. I can do it/But I m only human (11, 14). Christina repeats these two phrases through out her song to make us understand that it s okay to not be perfect. We see that the singer makes herself believe that she cannot be flawed, because then she won t find happiness. Then she goes and tells us that she s only human, which we realize that us human are not perfect. Yet she says its fine being defected. It not only studies these various concepts and principles but also governs the values pertaining to human rights or natural rights, the essential equality of all men and women across the globe, the basic concern for health and safety, and also for the natural environment on the whole. Be it any industry, business, any form of work place, it follows a certain code of conduct, which is legit and undeniable. Apart from restricting the concept of Ethics only to industries and business, I feel, ethics begins from within. Ethics are basically the rules or standards leading to the conduct by which I live my life and make all my decisions. One of the best ways of thinking about ethics is to take a quick look at your beliefs and then think about how your reactions would be when those beliefs are challenged. Ethics definitely do not arise out of a mere vacuity, they are more like a puzzle that is thrown together over time, that when complete makes up who we are and what we believe. The SCO is also the only international security organisation where China is a member and the US is not. Central Asia is at the centre of the organisation both in a geographical and political sense. In many countries non native English speakers are introduced of English as a foreign language in public schools as a required subject beginning in early primary schools. In Saudi Arabia, in 1927 the English language was introduced at the secondary schools without a specific syllabus. In 1953, teaching English language was introduced at intermediate and secondary schools with a specific syllabus (Al Subahi, 1989). For many years in Saudi education curriculums English courses were compulsory and started from middle school up to secondary public schools, the students ages from 11 or 12 attended intermediate level and at age 18 finish secondary level. Nevertheless, private schools in Saudi Arabia start teaching English as a foreign language from first grade onward, however, there are a lot of students who still find mastering English very difficult, and their performance is still weak. I certainly regret that this is the case; looking back over our schools I believe they should inspire the students early about the importance of learning English language for the sake of their future. In short, learning foreign languages not just for giving ways to communicate with people in other countries, has become important for those who want to study and get a degree or who want a good job in other countries such as United States, British, or Australia. I loved the point of view because the story was narrated through Number Four s eyes and I felt as though I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not personally a fan of science fiction however, I was really enjoying the book, even though it is highly unbelievable. I would rate this book a 7 because I don t particularly enjoy science fiction, but this book always kept me on edge. I loved how the characters were developed more and more throughout the book. I felt like I was in the story and felt the same hate towards the bullies that Number Four felt. Also, I loved the setting and how I was more and more informed about Paradise as well as Number Four s old home. I decided to read this book because my brother had said it was very good, and he isn t a fan of science fiction either. I think that people that love a good mystery, and love a good cliff hanger every chapter, they would really enjoy I am Number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Can Offensive Art Be Good Analysis Silverman, Sarah, and Katt Williams. Can Offensive Art Be Great?. Time, 186.11, 2015: 74. Academic Search Premier, Sarah Silverman is the first to write saying that she believes all art should be allowed and that artists should be free to make what they want. She also makes the point that no one could possibly say what art should and shouldn t be aloud because then where would we draw the line. I like her opinion on this because it s a solid point, and it a point few can argue with. Katt Williams comes in with a similar opinion but she says art should only be allowed if it has good intentions. I strongly disagree with this because not all artists are going to making pieces with good intentions because most art is fueled by emotion which in turn can have bad intentions. So what she says her I don t believe is valid. Moon, Michael. In Arcadia With Henry Darger. Massachusetts Review, 53.1, 2012: 105 112. Academic Search Premier, ... His worked being described as a nightmare and fairy tale mixed together. Moon makes the point that Henry Darger is smarter and more artistic than most perceive him to be. He has many underlying points and hidden meanings in his painting and they aren t just about pointless violence and the murdering of children. Which is the reason such artists shouldn t be censored, because for a lot of artists, there s more than meets the eye. Which is why I chose this article because even though it s not directly talking about how Darger should be censored, it gives great examples of why artists shouldn t be censored. The main point being there s often hidden meaning that we have to find in a piece of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though Sandy was a main character, she did not capture the attention of the audience like she should have. During the high school prom scene, the choreography seemed a little boring. More complex dance routines could have been added to liven up the multiple dance numbers during this scene. Costumes and slang used matched the 1950s time period. The costumes looked authentic and really set the tone for the play. Slang and language throughout the play mattered the time period perfectly. A staircase that lit up to the beat of the music added a lot of interest to multiple dance numbers. Several different sets were set up during the play, and it was obvious where the characters were. The props and setting structures were constructed very well. A drag race scene did take place during the performance. The concept of preforming it seemed difficult, but the special effects and choreography worked out well. It felt like Danny and the rival gang leader were actually racing on stage. That was extremely impressive. The show was very entertaining. The language and themes were more mature, so it would not be advised for children to attend. Many of the jokes were for the ... In this article, he explains the different opinions and struggles that Koreans have, living in China. Gao suggests that Koreans and Asians share the same racials label: portrayed as a model minority that is primed for socioeconomic advancement and academic success (qtd. in Gao 55).
