John Vincent Hurt Research Paper
John Vincent Hurt was born on January 22, 1940 in Shirebrook, England. He is the son of Phyllis, an
engineer, and Arnould Herbert Hurt, an Anglican clergyman and mathematician. The youngest of three
children, he spent much of his childhood in solitude. Showing little initiative, he was guided into art as
a possible direction. The family moved to Grimsby when he turned twelve and, despite an active early
passion in acting, his parents thought less of it and enrolled him at the Grimsby Art School and St.
Martin s School of Art where he thrived. When he couldn t manage to get another scholarship to art
school, his focus invariably turned to acting. After making it into into the Royal Academy of Dramatic
Art, John made his stage debut in 1962

Behavior Management Is The Number One Key For Learning...
Behavior Management in the Classroom If you were to ask me what my number one priority is in my
classroom, without a thought my answer would be behavior management. Much like Marzano (2003)
I believe that behavior management is the number one key for learning success. If a classroom is
chaotic and unpredictable many students will show various kinds of undesired behaviors as a way to
cope with the environment. It is also very difficult for students to focus and retain information when
there are constant disruptions in the classroom. It will negatively affect the performance of the teacher,
and the students. When students are taught structure and routine, and given unwavering expectations
and consequences, and are then taught how to apply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also important to build strong relationships with students in order to create a trusting and positive
environment. Much like Walker (2009) I believe that strong management stems from high expectation
levels, as well as a caring and nurturing environment where students are being encouraged and the
process, rather than the outcome of learning is emphasized. Walker (2009) defines this style of
teaching as authoritative. A high level of support and nurturing, along with high expectations, where
the adult is able to reason with the child to gain compliance. As a special education teacher, many of
my students have low self monitor abilities and struggle to reason, and need frequent reminders and
enforcers. I feel that it is most effective to use a more authoritarian approach in the beginning to build
very clear expectations without room for error. Walker (2009) defines authoritarian style of teaching a
highly controlling style of teaching that values strict obedience. Although an authoritarian approach is
less nurturing and highly controlling, I feel that it is effective to start with this level of control, and
then progress into a more authoritative level where the more nurturing warm supportive elements
come in as students learn to adhere to expectations with a high level of support. When moving into a

Exploring The Life Of Eugene Atget
Exploring the Life of Eugene Atget
Biographical and autobiographical information on Atget in his lifetime is scarce to be found however
we do know a small amount. He was born into a working class family, in Libourne France in the
winter of 1857. Libourne lays near Bordeaux, an intrinsically prerevolutionary feeling city, whose
architecture and sights may have been an underlying attraction to his Old Paris documentation.
Orphaned at the young age of five years old, Atget came to be raised by his grandparents until he was
able to work and live on his own. He is speculated to have spent some time at sea during the early
1870s, however inconclusive evidence may be, he may have worked as a cabin boy. During this time
he developed an inclination to act, and eventually gained entry to the Conservatoire D art Dramatique
in Paris in 1879. Unfortunately his obligation to server time in the military prevented him from
finishing his studies at the conservatory. After briefly managing a humorist magazine to no financial
or positional avail, Atget pursued a career as an itinerant actor. His acting escapades turned sour,
unremarkable, and were short lived. He quit acting for good in 1887, but his passion for it was never
lost, and between 1904 and 1913, Atget lectured about theater at universities in and surrounding Paris.
While searching for a new path to take his life down, Atget contemplated over both photography and
painting. In his endeavors to paint, he must have realized

Pascal s Wager Research Paper
Blaise Pascal, a genius, mathematician, physicist, and religious philosopher, says that there are two
options in the benefits of life when it comes to theism. The two choices are: to believe in God, or not
to believe in God. Pascal calls this dilemma a wager. It is a wager because there are different gains and
losses from the two options, depending on whether or not God exists. If God exists, the believers will
have eternal life, and the non believers will receive damnation. If God does not exist, the believers
will have been left out on the material fulfillments, and the non believers will have reaped those
benefits. Pascal s wager could be used as an evangelism method, because it can be used to frighten
people into theism. I believe Pascal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would appear to be a safer bet to believe in God, because one would not have to worry about eternal
damnation. Finite material luxuries cannot compare to eternal life. Pascal s wager could scare some
people into believing in God; however, there is a problem with it. One would choose to believe in God
for their own benefit, rather than for the love of Christ. The belief could be pretended, and the person
would treat eternal life as a reward and a way to avoid damnation, rather than following Christ
genuinely. In John 14:23, Jesus says If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will
love him, and we will come to him and make our home with

Analysis Of Clara Barton s Life
Introduction Clara Barton had many accomplishments throughout her life in all her endeavors. Her
story begins at a young age and continues into her career as a valuable individual saving lives as a
nurse. The accumulation of events and contributing factors that Barton experienced from her
childhood into her adult years shaped her into the nurse remembered in history and helped mold the
face of nursing for the future.
Background
Clara Barton is most notably remembered for her accomplishments, with the Red Cross and nursing,
however, her story begins years earlier when she was born December 25th, 1821 (Evans 2003). Barton
was born to Stephen and Sarah Barton and grew up in New Oxford, Massachusetts. Many of the
experiences that Barton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barton not only became a teacher during a period where female teachers were rare, but she also
opened the first free public school in New Jersey. Though the school was not immediately successful,
it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school had to be built.
In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be employed by the
federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012).
In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many were
wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to tend to
those wounded (Jones 2012). Barton, who led by example, was able to build up a volunteer network
that lasted the entirety of the war. In March of 1865, Barton started the Office of Correspondence with
friends of the missing men in the United States Army. Barton, with the help of volunteers, identified
over 22,000 missing men. The searches for missing men led her to assist in establishing a national
cemetery, where they properly marked the graves of nearly 13,000 men (Gorlick 2002). Barton s great
accomplishment with the war efforts gave her the opportunities to speak throughout the Northwest and
Midwest. After two years of traveling and speaking, Barton retreated to Switzerland per doctors
orders. While in Switzerland, Barton associated herself with the

My Personal Philosophy Of Philosophy
Statement of Philosophy My personal philosophy its important for me that I stay true to my personal,
moral and ethical values that has followed me throughout my life. The American Nursing Association
stats The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to preserve
integrity and safety, to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth .
(American Nurse Association, 2011, p. 7) Jean Watson says that nursing should be concerned with the
pursuit of hidden truths and new insights, developments of knowledge in relation to the human
experiencing caring healing, health and illness (Watson, 2012, p. 2), and when the nurse does this, the
nurse can be open to learn new discoveries of how to be in a professional human caring healing
relationship with individuals or better serve humankind and global civilization . (Watson, 2012, p. 2).
Personally, having the opportunity to impact someone everyday is very powerful, I want to be a
compassionate nurse by the words I use, my actions, and my attitude can help another human being to
heal and that is something that I will remember all throughout my life.

Thaginian War Research Paper
In 467 BC Syracuse would win its freedom from tyrannical rule and become a democratic society.
Most Greek states, seeing that this was possible, quickly followed suit. By 404 BC, at the end of the
Peloponnesian war, Athens no longer had any influence on the island. (For more information on this
war read Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War). Later, Carthage, being allied to the Persian
Empire, invaded Sicily on two specific occasions in the fifth century during the Peloponnesian war.
The first invasion by the Carthaginian army was led, in 480 B.C., by a man named Hamilcar the
Magonid (not to be confused with Hamilcar Barca of the First Punic wars), who later died in Himera.
The second invasion was carried out two generations later in 409 B.C. by Hamilcar the Magonid s
grandson, Hannibal (again not to be confused with famous Hannibal of the Second Punic wars).
Hannibal assaulted the island from the west coast and marched on Himera. He slaughtered over 3000
Himerion citizens to avenge the death of his grandfather. He had gained control of almost 1/3 of Sicily
in less than three months and returned home to Carthage. In 406 B.C. he would return and sack
Akragas (Agrigento). Dionysius I began the reign of Dionysian rule as he took control of Syracuse in

Why Surgery Is The Best Option For You
I believe surgery would be the best option for you the orthopedic doctor said. A few minutes after that
he left the room to go get the checkout paperwork, and a referral to see a surgeon. At the time surgery
was the last thing on my mind. A few months earlier a close family friend, Dana Griswold, had
decided to discontinue her cancer treatment because it was too difficult on her body. The days leading
up to her death Dana had been rapidly deteriorating and everyone knew that she would pass away
soon. At the time I was angry at God because Dana did not deserve cancer at all. She was the nicest
person I had ever met. I had been waiting to see Dana for weeks; she did not want anyone to see her
sick. I was finally going to get to see her after that doctor s appointment to say goodbye and I was
impatiently waiting for that doctor to bring back the paperwork so I could leave. My mom was
receiving updates about every 15 minutes from Gina, Dana s sister, and I could grasp by the look on
her face that Dana was not doing well. I was trying not to cry because I knew that she was going to die
quickly. My mom handed me the phone, and as I started reading the text messages my heart dropped.
All the family is here saying their goodbyes and she will probably be gone in the next hour. I
immediately started crying and praying. I was praying that God would not take such an extraordinary
woman from us so rapidly. That sounds truly selfish now that I think about it because she was

Impact Of British Colonization On Native American Culture
Closely followed by Columbus discovery of the New World in 1492 were the establishments of
European colonies with the French primarily in the north and down the Mississippi, and with the
British along the east coast. As a result, the Native Americans lives changed drastically. Before 1750,
in terms of economically, French responded mutually in terms of economy, culturally befriended them
and in terms of religion, responded benignly by encouraging Catholicism through missionaries and on

Spanish settlements in Northern America were primarily established for gold and silver for example
they forced slavery on Indians to work in gold and silver mines. Another example stands in Hernando
Cortez, upon conquering the Aztecs, besieged their capital city and stole their gold and other precious
resources. Unlike the English the Spanish were much more willing to integrate cultures like the
French. Intermarriage between Spanish and Native Americans was very common which formed a new
ethnicity which established a cultural peace between Spanish and Natives. However, they still
dominated the Natives to ensure they can fully exploit the natural resources. Some argue that the
Spanish did try to make reforms as Bartolome de Las Casas attempted for a milder policy against
Natives. However, these attempts were futile as no major changes occurred. The devout Catholic
Spaniards were much more aggressive than their counterparts on religious matter. They forced the
Natives to convert using the encomienda system and the missions they set up. Overall, they were not
as bad as the English, but they were not on as great of terms with the Natives as the French

What Is The Purpose Of The Dwarves Song
The the songs that were sung help develop the characters for three different reasons. First, the song
that the dwarves sang explained a lot about themselves, their goals and about the surrounding. The

The pines were roaring The Trees like torches blazed with light . The song is deep and it sorta sounded

about their mood and how they act and their relationship with the dwarfs. The song is very positive; it

Plato s Republic
In Plato s Republic, Socrates goes to great lengths to explain and differentiate between the ideas of
opinion and knowledge. Throughout society, most common men are lovers of sights and sounds.
Lovers of sights and sounds like beautiful sounds, colors, shapes, and everything fashioned out of
them, but their thought is unable to see and embrace the nature of the beautiful itself (Republic 476b).
The few who do recognize the beautiful itself are followers of the sight of truth, the philosophers.
Knowledge is based on what is, or truths. The only established truths are the forms. The forms
represent true, eternal, unchanging, or facts. Knowledge stems from the idea of forms. One who has
knowledge must understand the forms. Only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discussion goes on to conclude that justice gives benefits to friends and does harm to enemies
(332d). Again, Socrates swiftly refutes this definition by stating that a man does not always know who
are his real friends and enemies. Both of these ideas of justice display relativity and therefore they fail
as definitions. A variety of situations can easily disprove any classification of justice displaying such
relativity. Exceptions will always exist. Glaucon and Adeimantus decide to take a different path in
trying to understand justice. He develops three classes of goods: things desired only for their
consequences, things desired for their own sake, and things desired both for their consequences and
their own sake. When prompted by the brothers, Socrates places justice in the highest class, stating
that justice should be valued for both itself and its consequences (357a – 358a). This supports the idea
of justice as a non relative concept. As a form of knowledge, justice simply is. Likewise, justice
should be valued simply for the fact that it is justice. Justice itself is good, and in addition those who
observe justice will be rewarded.
However, the brothers point out that most people do not agree with this classification of

In The Cask Of Amontillado, The Raven, And Annabel Lee
The unity of effect is all the elements in a story that channels the effect the author wants the audience
to experience. Therefore, to achieve the unity of effect in the Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, and
Annabel Lee, Poe used the elements of setting, alliteration, and unreliable narrator to help elicit the
unsettling mood in the audience.
For the sake of the unity of effect , Poe uses setting for the purpose of conceiving a sinister mood. As
Montresor and Fortunato walked deeper into the catacombs in the Cask of Amontillado, Montresor
points out the trickling of the water on the bones. We are below the river s bed. The drops of moisture
trickle among the bones. (Cask)The setting is under the surface of the earth, so the audience associates
it with with Hell because of the bones that lie around. The bones also make the audience feel that the
setting is eery and dangerous because it reminds them of death. This only makes isolation and danger
prominent factors in the setting. The mood becomes unpredictable and treacherous, with a sense of
fear and dread knowing that something bad will happen to the characters who are away from safety.
Under those circumstances, Poe controlled the audience s fear and the diabolical mood using the dark
setting.
Once again Poe uses the unity of effect to elicit this tense mood and draw out terror in the audience. In
The Raven, Poe used alliteration with the intention to build a suspenseful mood and dread in the
audience. The narrator of

bullish observers as U.S. exports surge, long moribund industries glow with newfound profits, and
unemployment dips to lows not seen in a decade. But in the smokestack citadels, there s disquiet. Too
many machine tool and auto parts factories are silent; too many U.S. industries still can t hold their

Their departure under Houdaille was followed by an endless and ultimately futile search for a better
formula. But, he concludes: No formula was a substitute for management involvement on the shop

policy. He targets tax laws and macroeconomic policies that encourage LBOs and speculation instead
of productive investment. He also criticizes Pentagon procurement policies for favoring exotic,
custom machines over standard, low cost models. This adds up to an industrial policy, Holland writes
a bad one. The point is well taken, but Holland gives it excessive weight. Like their brethren in Detroit

Updating Computer Security Posture of Advanced Research
Acunetix Purchase Proposal
BACKGROUND
Advanced Research is a growing company in the medical research field and has made a great impact
due to its recent success with research and development regarding pharmaceuticals. Due to its large
successes and quick growth, Advanced Research has also developed into an attractive target for cyber
criminals and attackers. This has been previously demonstrated by the defacement of Advanced
Research s public facing website as well as being a victim of Denial of Service attacks throughout a
nine month period in 2011.
The threat of Denial of Service attacks, as well as any attacks on Advanced Research s public facing
infrastructure, is a major security issue for multiple reasons. Firstly, Kenig (2013) reported The
average cost of one minute of downtime due to a DDoS attack is $22,000. With an average downtime
of 54 minutes per DDoS attack, this amounts to a heavy toll. That amounts to $1,188,000 for an attack
that lasts just under an hour. Can Advanced Research afford even that small amount of downtime?
How much revenue is Advanced Research losing from sales lost during that time? How many
customers are losing faith in the company because of these attacks? How much employee productivity
is lost? For Advanced Research to continue to grow

The Satanic Verses Analysis
In The Satanic Verses, numerous symbols illustrate how human nature is the source of the evil.
Furthermore, the symbolic significance that pertains to the main character also shows how all
individuals have both good and bad qualities. A repeating motif in the book is the reference to the play
Othello . Skapearses famous play follows the life of the Moor Othello after is marriage to Desdemona.
Iago, a loyal friend of Othello, was furious that the Moor overlooked him for a promotion, sparking
his lust for revenge. Iago devised a plan to persuade the King that his had been having an affair with
his trusted friend Cassio. Iago s actions resulted in the Moor killing Desdemona. After learning the
truth, Othello committed suicide. The references to the play foreshadow the ending of the novel but
also gives further explanations to the actions of Gibreel. The first mentions of Othello only occurred to
criticize Shakespeare because he couldn t spell (256). The primary reference occurs when Gibreel
wondered about the creation of evil, why it grows, how it takes unilateral possession of a many sided
human soul. Or, let s say: the enigma of Iago (439). Gibreel continues by denying his allegations
saying he s, no match for the moor (439). Gibreel turns out to me more naive than the moor because
the events that occur in Othello are mirrored in the novel. Gibreel assumes the role of Othello, Saladin
Iago, and Gibreel s love interest Allie Cone, Desdemona. Gibreel inherited the

One of the key topics that come out of this is intelligence . John Parachini explains that at the time the
Central Intelligence Agency had their focus on the Islamic terrorism, overlooking the Aum. They were
overlooked because they believed the unintelligible religious group in a country considered to be an
ally was no threat. My guess is, they misjudged and were wrong with their intelligence gathering. But
since this attack, the Central Intelligence Agency has fixed the intelligence blind spots. However, I
think the government needs to think about the newer intelligence issues that are being developed. In
closing, governments need to know that even though the possibility of a biological or chemical attack
is remote, they have a responsibility to do everything in their power to curb the opportunities, guard,
and take action. For the Japanese government their test is to establish how much to organize for a low
probability attack, all while safeguarding against on more likely events with significant, but not
inevitably disastrous penalties. But the Japanese also need to make sure they understand that terrorist
groups don t always use biological weapons for their attacks, because they often have other
alternatives that will better serve the function of the terrorist organization. Through the risk
management perspectives of John Parachini, if the Japanese government can

Literary Analysis Collection 1 The stories The Leap , The Trip , and The Contents of the Deadman s
Pocket are all compared through literary elements. The literary elements used are characters, conflicts,
setting, and theme. The authors use different elements throughout the texts to reveal different things
about the main characters. Through these literary elements the characters have something revealed
about th em or they are taught a lesson. One way The Trip , The Leap , and The Contents of the
Deadman s Pocket are compared is through the characters. All three of the characters had risked their
lives in some way. Tom had risked his life to get a raise in his job. He had climbed onto the ledge
outside his apartment to get the yellow piece of paper that had flown out the window. While he was on
the ledge he nearly fell to his death. Anna had risked her life to save her daughter. Anna s house had
caught on fire and her daughter was stuck inside. Anna found a way inside the house to save her
daughter. In doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Leap , Anna faces and internal conflict of trying to save her husband or saving herself and her
unborn child. Anna ultimately decided to save herself and had grabbed onto a bar. Her external
conflict was finding a way to not fall from the trapeze. Murad from The Trip had an internal conflict
of deciding whether he should take the trip to Spain or just stay in Morocco. His external conflict was
making it to Spain. He had faced many hardships on the boat just to get to Spain, and then he had to
hide when he made it to Spain. Tom from The Contents of the Deadman s Pocket had an internal
conflict of figuring out if his job was worth risking his life for. Then he had an external conflict of not
falling off of the ledge. These conflicts are similar because the characters could lose something. The
conflicts are different in its context and how the characters solve the

Comparing Dream Deferred And A Raisin In The Sun
What happens to a dream deferred? In the poem Dream Deferred , by Langston Hughes; the novel Of
Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck; and the play A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, it talks
about what dreams are like and what happens to dreams. Langston Hughes is questioning what
happens to dreams that are forgotten. John Steinbeck is telling a person to strive for his/her goals and
to not forget or give up on dreams. In Hansberry s opinion, she is implying that dreams can come true
if a person tries hard, even if he/she is going through a tough time. Throughout these three works,
dreams are viewed from different perspectives. In the poem ¨Dream Deferred¨ by Langston Hughes,
he compares a broken dream to many different things. Hughes ... Show more content on

Walter Lee s dream was to own a liquor store by using the money the insurance company gave to the
family because of Walter Sr. death. Even though Walter was not supposed to use the money, he did,
and lost all of it, including Beneatha s money for college. They were so close to achieving their
dreams, but then they did not because of Walter s choice. Sometimes people have to change their
dream to achieve something else. Beneatha s dream was to do something important in her life. Many
of Beneatha s family members did not think she would achieve her dream and they did not want to
help her. In the next few lines Beneatha sarcastically apologizes for having a dream. Well I do all

to have her baby and have a new house to raise it in. This dream did come true, she was able to move

How To Write A Narrative Essay On Military Life
No! Please! Elizabeth! I could hear my mother screaming my name, being held back by doctors and
nurses, as I was taken away from the hospital by the Patrol. It was May 17, 2070, the day of my birth,
and I had just been separated from my sole and biological family. I was taken to a room down the hall
and placed in a gigantic tube that flickered with bright lights. Exasperated, I closed my eyes and lay
on the floor of the tube. Suddenly, there was a loud beeping noise and when I opened my eyes, the
noise was gone but so was the hospital.
The sandy land that surrounded me was bare and flat, and a colossal wire fence surrounded all of it. I
was trapped. A camouflaged jeep zoomed by almost running over me. It pulled over and a large,

It was a dark and windy day in October. The trees were dancing in the strong breeze and all the Tens,

on an artificial land mine. As I stepped onto the platform, the clock started to count down. 10...should
I just run for my life...9...or should I carefully step around the field...8...maybe they didn t even hide

their own tests, and as I scanned the crowd, my eyes fell on a small girl with a freckled face and
hazelnut eyes. She was staring right back at me and looked like she was giving me some type of
signal. She kept on opening her palms up and then closing them into a fist over and over again. I
realized, just before the timer went off, that the girl was telling me to look out for the faint, blinking
lights in some of the dirt mounds that showed that there was a land mine hidden there. I ran across the
field, looking closely at every mound of dirt that seemed to have something hidden inside. Finally, as I
neared the end of the field, the same little girl that had given me signals screamed, Watch out! Behind
you! from the sidelines. If it weren t for her, I would have

Summary Of The French Language In Dangerous Liaisons
Dangerous Liaisons is an epistolary novel written in the 1700s detailing the events of a set of high
class people and their conquests for love and revenge. One of the many characteristics of this novel
that make it unique is the French language used in the novel and the way the novel is written. The
language and word choices are features that are important to a deeper understanding of the novel. The
language used is specific to French culture and society and therefore the language creates a different
understanding of the text. The language and untranslatable words in Dangerous Liaisons help to
understand the culture and society of the characters in the text for an overall better understanding of
the text. This novel depicts ideas of how love was seen back in the 1700s in France. Love and
marriage were not necessarily connected to each other and to truly love someone it was believed that
there had to be a lot of pain and suffering involved. In this novel the main character Vicomte de
Valmont and his lady counterpart the Marquise de Merteuil are seeking love and also revenge against
a multitude of different characters. There are multiple love triangle type situations that happen and a
lot of betrayal and hurt as well. All of the characters are high class peoples and are revered and
respected socially. The novel was originally written in French in the 1700s and then later translated to
English. There are English translations adapted by many different translators and each

The Cause And Effects Of The Atrocity Of War
The atrocity of war, in the discussion of both World Wars offers to a particular extent an insight into
the cause and effects, that the world experienced during both periods. The First World War was fought
from 1914 1918 and the second between 1939 to late 1945, staging as the largest conflicts of human
history. World War 1 stimulated into existence with the Assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand
of Austria, in June 1914, the war triggered from these notions of militarism, imperialism, nationalism
and alliance system. World War 2, started as a result of political and economic instability in Germany,
the harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles and Adolf Hitler s rise of power and alliance

rates of outcome grew severely between successive years of warfare, and draw attention to specific
developments that changed the perspective through which war was initially carried out. It also aims to

The And Of The Westminster
If you asked most people how to characterize a democracy, they will often cite phrases like liberty and
freedom or power to the people . Although, in class, we have learned that it s more complex than one
might initially consider. It is important to note that not all democracies are governed the same way;
and yet, despite these divergent elements, they still all fit under the definition of democracy. The
United Kingdom, a parliamentary democracy, and Switzerland, a direct democracy, have very
different forms of democratic governance. I will explore the differences and similarities of these two
democracies through the lens of the Westminster (majoritarian) model criterion; and enumerate on the
strengths and weaknesses of each comparison. The first Westminster model criterion we will examine
is the concentration of power in one party cabinets. In the United Kingdom this manifests itself
primarily through the vehicle of strict party discipline. The majority party fills government positions
with their top party officials and this newly formed government remains in power until a vote of no
confidence is passed. Similarly, cabinets are typically made up of a single party and are expected to
work as a cohesive unit. A cabinet member must abide by cabinet policy and there are harsh
punishments inflicted upon those who do not follow party lines. Publicly denouncing a policy decision
is strictly forbidden. If a member is unable to support a particular measure, then they are

Logistics Case Study Essay
Case 1: Integrated Logistics for DEP/GARD Tom Lippet, sales representative for DuPont Engineering
Polymers (DEP), felt uneasy as he drove to his appointment at GARD (Automotive Manufacturing
(GARD). GARD is one of DEP s biggest customers. In the past, sales deals with GARD had
proceeded smoothly. Oftentimes competitors were not even invited to bid on the GARD business.
Mike O Leary, purchasing agent at GARD, claimed that was because no competitor could match DEP

renewal talks began, O Leary had announced his plan to retire in 6 months. GARD management

news, Tom! DEP has the contract again! O Leary paused, then continued, But there s going to be a

Nothing personal, just that management feels it s only fair to Richard that these last contracts I
negotiate be limited to a year. That way he doesn t get locked into any deals that might make him look
bad! O Leary roared with laughter at his last comment. It is certainly no reflection on DEP, Richard

Saudi Arabia Case Study
Introduction
Times have changed in Saudi Arabia: as the country s economy slows, the kingdom is giving more and
more priority to a local labor force and the numbers of low income, middle class and even high paid
expatriate executives have been affected by the new taxes policies.
Since mid 2014, the world s largest exporter of crude oil, which is also the largest economy in the
Arab world, has been dealing with substantially lower oil revenues than before. And the austerity and
cost cutting measures here and there affect expatriate workers.
Especially since the employment of Saudis in the private sector is favored, as part of an ambitious
program of diversification of the economy launched last year, called Vision 2030.

Western expatriates, often far better paid than their Asian or Arab counterparts, believe they can
absorb the new taxes. But they point out that the very advantageous financial conditions that attracted
them to Saudi Arabia (housing allowance, scholarships, annual trips ...) are melting, their companies
struggling to maintain them in the state. There is no income tax in Saudi Arabia.
According to Steck, to reduce costs, his employers decided to drive the Westerners out . I must admit
that they will save a lot, said the executive of a subsidiary of a German multinational, left in his
country in early February.

the tribes pre Columbian history to include the settlement dates and known cultural details. Then a

history after contact with settlers. Finally discussing John Ross, who he was and how he affected the

Use of a caste system was a part of the Cherokees social structures before contacts with whites. The
white south created its own social caste system with white planters as the aristocracy and the African
slave at the peon (Bullard, F.B. 1989). The colonists who settled in the south were different than their
counterparts in the North. The main heritage of the southern colonists was the Celtic in contrast to the
English heritage of the colonists who settled in the north. The Celtic heritage these southerner
colonists brought to North America from Europe had a profound effect on their folkways as well as
influencing their Indian neighbors. Traditional Cherokee lands had incorporated ass of Kentucky,
much of Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, North Carolina and a small part of Virginia
and what is now West Virginia. The spatial proximity was one reason for the development of an
identity with the Southern colonist and their institutions and traditions (Bullard, F.B. 1989). Indian
agent for the United States, George Butler, commented that he felt the majority of the material
progress in the Indian Territory was a result of slavery. The age of masters measured in the distribution
in slaves provides evidence for the upward mobility of slavery for the Cherokee. The principal
difference from the white south was the treatment of slaves in the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee
avoided mistreatment of the slaves and Major Ridge s wife

Hippo Pathway Lab Report
Regulation of the Hippo YAP Pathway by G Protein Coupled Receptor Signaling Review Lee
Stunkard Organ size regulation has continued to remain elusive. Recently, the Hippo pathway has
been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of organs
through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the
transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes that
promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated
upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation. YAP is inhibited by Lats 1/2 through
phosphorylation of serine 127. When serine 127 becomes phosphorylated YAP binds to ... Show more

Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of YAP regulated genes were tested using LPA
treated cells that had YAP/TAZ knockdown. Cell growth, migration, proliferation and mRNA levels of
YAP regulated genes were all significantly repressed compared to the controls suggesting that LPA
acts through YAP/TAZ. Similar to YAP, TAZ was shown to localize in the nuclear fractions of cells in
immunofluorescence experiments. MST 1/2 and Lats 1/2 levels were tested in response to LPA
treatment. LPA was shown to inhibit Lats 1/2 but not MST 1/2 in immunoblot experiments. Then to
test how LPA and S1P were modulating YAP/TAZ immunoblotting experiments were utilized. LPA
and S1P were found to modulate YAP/TAZ through G protein coupled receptor signaling and Rho
GTPases. More specifically, G12/13 receptors appeared to be most involved while Gq/11 receptors
were only slightly involved in dephosphorylating YAP/TAZ. On the other hand, Gs receptors had the
opposite effect, phosphorylating and inhibiting

Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
Many immigrants come to the United States in pursuit of opportunity, however they struggle to adopt
the dominant culture s language, which limits the job opportunities available to them. Historically,
immigrants assimilated by having to learn dominant language, but this challenge led them to create
ethnic enclaves that make them feel more welcomed. Many enclaves in the United States, for example
the Latino population in San Francisco s Mission District, give a sense of comfort and nostalgia of
home because people from that community have similarities to their homeland. Newcomers do not
need to step out of their enclave because they have all the support they need in their communities.
Although many immigrants come to the United States in hope of opportunity, they are limited to
achieving and moving forward because of their ethnic enclaves. Because these enclaves do not allow
them to expand into different cultures, they are limited both socially and economically.
Within ethnic communities, there are a huge number of people who face language barriers that
prevents them from seeking employment outside of their ethnic community. People within these
ethnic enclaves do not feel the need to learn the dominant language, because the majority of the
population with their community speaks the same language as they do. Places like San Francisco s
China town has established their own enclave that includes everything from grocery shops to
hospitals. This

Both the boy and the girl have developmental differences. The girl is incredibly independent, a quick

person. I quickly learned that he will have a meltdown if something is wrong with his clothes like if he
spilt milk on his shirt and was wet or if there was a rock in his shoe and it hurt. I also observed that he
constantly has to be touching something whether it be another child, the pictures on the wall, the rug
on the ground, and anything in between. During a meltdown, I would talk to him on his level face to
face and stay calm when asking what is wrong and what can I do to help him. I continuously reassured
him that he has an extra shirt that is dry and all we have to do is take his shoe off to get the rock out. I
also changed the way that I taught him lessons by giving him physical objects of what we were talking
about to hold on to and feel. When it was circle time, he was given a small ball to hold on to and
manipulate as long as it was not distracting to other children or taking his attention away from the
lesson. My strengths in this experience were understanding his developmental tendencies and adhering

The Between Science And Christianity
I remember it well as if it were yesterday, but it over 40 years ago when I walked into Dr. E s. Office
asking for his opinion about something; that I needed help having to do with correctly responding to
the interrelationship between Science and Christianity. I had my own discernment and interpretation
on this topic, but I wanted a practical, realistic way to approach this discussion when asked, even if it
was a couple days later, or during a confirmation class. Though I did not have Dr. E as a professor, or
took one of his courses in geology, I knew that he could help me in a constructive way. Dr. E. was my
mentor and sponsor and he was always receptive to anything that I had to ask whether it was a simple
or complex question of the day. On that day, I wanted to know his understanding of God s creation of
science, its separation from, but more so to its correlation to the theology of Christianity. At times, I
was puzzled by some people s insistence that the two shall never meet. Where I was coming from the
standpoint and still hold true, that Jesus, Son of God is the Great Physician as recounted in the
healings parables and based and John 5:1 9. I also believed and have no problem seeing that science
and medical advances were beneficial and true blessings from God. Another vital point of
understanding that I base this reflection upon is the profound belief that that God works his power and
purpose through the means of science as wisdom and hard work is expressed

Next we will discuss the Florida Aquifer System. There are many factors that contribute to the storage
and movement of ground water, porosity and permeability are the two most important elements to this

permeability is the ability for a fluid to pass through (Lutgens, 2012.) Rock and sediments that allow
groundwater to travel freely are called aquifers. These aquifers are natural resources that exist

Snapple Case Study
Despite the fact that many small startup premium fruit drink companies stayed small or even
disappeared during the period from 1972 to 1993, Snapple was able to flourish. A large part of
Snapple avoiding the fate of these other companies can be attributed to how successful it was in
utilizing the four Ps of marketing, especially product and promotion.
Of the four Ps, the marketing mix typically starts with the product, which is one area where Snapple

Snapple also sponsored the radio programs of two highly outspoken men, Howard Stern and Rush

Finally, price is what a buyer must give up in order to obtain a product. It is often the most flexible of
the four Ps. Although not explicitly stated in the case study, I know from further research that Snapple
isn t significantly cheaper or more expensive than substitute products. The average sixteen ounce
bottle of Snapple is $1.50, which is comparable to what one would pay for an Arizona iced tea or a
bottle of Coca Cola. A significant advantage was not gained in this area.
In order for Mike Weinstein to regain the level of success that Snapple once enjoyed, he needs to
make a serious effort to return Snapple to its roots. First and foremost he needs to reestablish the
public relations and advertising strategies the company once used. Weinstein should reach out to
Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, and Wendy Kaufman to again promote Snapple s products. He needs
to communicate to them how instrumental they would be in returning Snapple to its former status
among fruit drink companies. If he can t get these individuals on board, then Weinstein needs to find
suitable replacements that have similar personalities to the aforementioned spokespersons. In addition,
because today s society is so reliant on technology, he should advertise Snapple products through
various social media.

Teen Drug Abuse Essay
Teenagers often experiment with a variety of activities and substances. This experimentation can lead
to substance abuse and addiction. There s a lot of information that show that drug abuse is a growing
problem among teens. In addition to cocaine, Ecstasy and other club drugs, a recent Monitoring the
Future Study showed that the top six most abused drugs by teens are: marijuana (31.5%), Vicodin
(9.7%), amphetamines (8.1%), cough medicine (6.9%), sedatives and tranquilizers (6.6% each).
Without treatment, the effects of drug abuse on teens can lead to serious consequences now and well
into adulthood. Doing Drugs a young age can ruin the future for many kids that possible have a great
future ahead of them. Did you know most teens who are good at sports either smoke weed or take

Sonnet 116 Figurative Language Essay
Romeo and Juliet may be one of Shakespeare s greatest works, but the famous poet has written a
numerous amount of other fantastic masterpieces. Another one of Shakespeare s great works Sonnet
116 , was written during the Victorian time period in England. This poem is Shakespeare s
interpretation of what true love is, and what it looks like. Throughout the poem, there are many
literary devices used to convey Shakespeare s belief on true love such as metaphors, imagery, and
repetition. The use of metaphors is commonly seen throughout Shakespeare s poem. Metaphors are
used in the poem to describe how love is a guide for lost humans. In the middle of the poem on line 7
love is compared to the star to every wand ring bark (Shakespeare line 7). In that line, the star is an
allusion to the North star, while the wand ring bark is a reference to any ship at sea. During the
Victorian era, the North Star was used by all ships to get a sense of direction since the North Star was

Through numerous literary techniques, from simple ones as metaphors and repetition to more
complicated devices such as imagery, Shakespeare has successfully crafted a poem with such deep
meaning that resembles the true idea of love. From using metaphors to compare love to a guide to
using imagery to show loves perseverance and strength, and finally using repetition to show what love
is not, he has successfully left his ideas in the mind of the reader. To end his famous poem
Shakespeare has a simple message to all, if he is wrong about his belief on what love is, then no one
on this planet has truly experienced and felt love and Shakespeare himself had never truly been a great
writer and poet. Ranging from the idea of love to describing what it is Shakespeare successful
captivates a reader to read his Victorian era

Empress Wu Zetian And Queen Elizabeth I
All throughout history and in different regions of the world, ambitious female rulers have discovered
that their greatest challenge was to overcome society s negative perception of women gaining power.
As did all rulers, female leaders also had to overcome obstacles in times of political disorder in order
to gain power. The theme of a female ruler s ability to overcome challenges in times of political
turmoil has manifested similarly and differently in the rule of Chinese Empress Wu Zetian and
England s Queen Elizabeth I. The megalomaniacal Wu Zetian has garnered sizable attention for being
the first and only empress of China, her devious methods to gain the title, and violent tendencies to
keep it. Queen Elizabeth has been praised for becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Confucians continued to loathe Wu Zetian even after declaring herself empress and tension was
rapidly rising with constant fear of rebellion. Wu Zetian attempted to combat Confucians by
promoting Buddhism to be the official religion of China through the mass construction of Buddhist
temples, invitation of scholars, and the creation of cave sculptures. The purpose of the policy was to
make her a legitimate ruler in the eyes of the new converted Buddhists. As a result, Confucians further
detested her as she tried to spread a contrasting religion and remove Confucianism as the state
philosophy. Furthermore, the public, aside from the highly Confucian followers, began to now see her
as a legitimate ruler as the new philosophy supported her rule. Similarly, Queen Elizabeth faced
domestic problems with the disunity within the Anglican Church, an important part of English society.
According to the Act of Uniformity issued by Queen Elizabeth, a Common Book of Prayer was
decreed that eventually fixed the variation of prayers in churches across England. As a result, there
was less conflict and debate between people over whose way of practicing was correct and people felt
a sense of unity as now all followed the same practices. Furthermore, the Act helped strengthen the
church as an establishment through its unification of the people, which helped Elizabeth gain her

Fiji Essay
Fiji is a group of volcanic islands in the South Pacific lying between Vanuatu and Samoa. Fiji which
appears just as a dot on the world map is currently keeping pace with changes at a steady rate. She has
undergone several developmental changes in the past and is currently in the phase. With years to
come, Fiji would be one of the most developed countries in the South Pacific region. Fiji is indeed a
transitional society as being in the hub of the Pacific; she has undergone key transitional changes
recently. From the change in the constitution and replacement of the Queen s portrait with Fiji s flora
and fauna, transitions even extended to the education sector. The Fiji government has made significant
changes in the education system which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often it was seen most students dropped out of high school because they could not finance their
tertiary school education. Fiji would accomplish various milestone ten years from now. With the
implementation of national toppers scholarship, six hundred toppers would graduate yearly in priority
areas. This not only puts a relief to the poor, but also ensures a balance in Fiji s economy. This will act
as a powerful incentive for students to take their studies seriously, and will guarantee that all of Fiji s
brightest students have the opportunity to continue their education and eventually enter the workforce
as leaders in their field. Together with this, the government has endeavored to make education more
reachable and affordable, especially for those from poorer families. But unlike our more affluent
neighbours, Fiji has never had truly free education for all children. Many parents had to live through
the distress and vagueness of how to get their children through primary school, let alone secondary
school and a tertiary education. Hence, government is providing free tuition fees for primary and
secondary school education for all Fijian children. According to Mr. Bainimarama, this ensures that no
child is left behind and no Fijian parent will ever go to bed again worrying about how they will meet
their children s school fees or any other fees. An even better

Euripides Medea Comparison
In Diane Arnson Svarlien s translation of Euripides Medea, the playwright encrypted a hidden
message in the play Medea that portrays the same theme as J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the
Prisoner of Azkaban which are: identity, and relationship. To back this up, the first half of the play is
talking about the story of why Medea split up with Jason and Medea mentions that men, like Jason,
treats women with betrayal. She then clarifies the idea by saying disgraceful things about her husband
and ignores Jason s reasoning on why he has to marry off with someone. The reason why she is
considered as other is, she is misunderstood of the actions she had done such as murdering her
children while she was a little paranoid.
One way to prove Medea misunderstands her role as an other is, she is lacking at her citizenship
status. To give an example, according to lines 33 39, Friends talk to her, try to give her good advice;
she listens the way a rock does or an ocean wave. At most, she ll turn her pale neck aside, sobbing to
herself for her dear father, her land, her home, and all that she betrayed for Jason, who now holds her
in dishonor. Medea gave all the effort she can in order to help Jason to retrieve his golden fleece
before this melodrama happened. Eventually, she exiled the first time when she falls in love with
Jason and exiled again due to Jason s Betrayal. Speaking of Jason s Betrayal, Medea doesn t know
what Jason is up to at first because she married off with Jason

  • 2. John Vincent Hurt Research Paper John Vincent Hurt was born on January 22, 1940 in Shirebrook, England. He is the son of Phyllis, an engineer, and Arnould Herbert Hurt, an Anglican clergyman and mathematician. The youngest of three children, he spent much of his childhood in solitude. Showing little initiative, he was guided into art as a possible direction. The family moved to Grimsby when he turned twelve and, despite an active early passion in acting, his parents thought less of it and enrolled him at the Grimsby Art School and St. Martin s School of Art where he thrived. When he couldn t manage to get another scholarship to art school, his focus invariably turned to acting. • 3. Behavior Management Is The Number One Key For Learning... Behavior Management in the Classroom If you were to ask me what my number one priority is in my classroom, without a thought my answer would be behavior management. Much like Marzano (2003) I believe that behavior management is the number one key for learning success. If a classroom is chaotic and unpredictable many students will show various kinds of undesired behaviors as a way to cope with the environment. It is also very difficult for students to focus and retain information when there are constant disruptions in the classroom. It will negatively affect the performance of the teacher, and the students. When students are taught structure and routine, and given unwavering expectations and consequences, and are then taught how to apply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also important to build strong relationships with students in order to create a trusting and positive environment. Much like Walker (2009) I believe that strong management stems from high expectation levels, as well as a caring and nurturing environment where students are being encouraged and the process, rather than the outcome of learning is emphasized. Walker (2009) defines this style of teaching as authoritative. A high level of support and nurturing, along with high expectations, where the adult is able to reason with the child to gain compliance. As a special education teacher, many of my students have low self monitor abilities and struggle to reason, and need frequent reminders and enforcers. I feel that it is most effective to use a more authoritarian approach in the beginning to build very clear expectations without room for error. Walker (2009) defines authoritarian style of teaching a highly controlling style of teaching that values strict obedience. Although an authoritarian approach is less nurturing and highly controlling, I feel that it is effective to start with this level of control, and then progress into a more authoritative level where the more nurturing warm supportive elements come in as students learn to adhere to expectations with a high level of support. • 4. Exploring The Life Of Eugene Atget Exploring the Life of Eugene Atget Biographical and autobiographical information on Atget in his lifetime is scarce to be found however we do know a small amount. He was born into a working class family, in Libourne France in the winter of 1857. Libourne lays near Bordeaux, an intrinsically prerevolutionary feeling city, whose architecture and sights may have been an underlying attraction to his Old Paris documentation. Orphaned at the young age of five years old, Atget came to be raised by his grandparents until he was able to work and live on his own. He is speculated to have spent some time at sea during the early 1870s, however inconclusive evidence may be, he may have worked as a cabin boy. During this time he developed an inclination to act, and eventually gained entry to the Conservatoire D art Dramatique in Paris in 1879. Unfortunately his obligation to server time in the military prevented him from finishing his studies at the conservatory. After briefly managing a humorist magazine to no financial or positional avail, Atget pursued a career as an itinerant actor. His acting escapades turned sour, unremarkable, and were short lived. He quit acting for good in 1887, but his passion for it was never lost, and between 1904 and 1913, Atget lectured about theater at universities in and surrounding Paris. While searching for a new path to take his life down, Atget contemplated over both photography and painting. In his endeavors to paint, he must have realized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pascal s Wager Research Paper Blaise Pascal, a genius, mathematician, physicist, and religious philosopher, says that there are two options in the benefits of life when it comes to theism. The two choices are: to believe in God, or not to believe in God. Pascal calls this dilemma a wager. It is a wager because there are different gains and losses from the two options, depending on whether or not God exists. If God exists, the believers will have eternal life, and the non believers will receive damnation. If God does not exist, the believers will have been left out on the material fulfillments, and the non believers will have reaped those benefits. Pascal s wager could be used as an evangelism method, because it can be used to frighten people into theism. I believe Pascal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would appear to be a safer bet to believe in God, because one would not have to worry about eternal damnation. Finite material luxuries cannot compare to eternal life. Pascal s wager could scare some people into believing in God; however, there is a problem with it. One would choose to believe in God for their own benefit, rather than for the love of Christ. The belief could be pretended, and the person would treat eternal life as a reward and a way to avoid damnation, rather than following Christ genuinely. Her story begins at a young age and continues into her career as a valuable individual saving lives as a nurse. Barton not only became a teacher during a period where female teachers were rare, but she also opened the first free public school in New Jersey. Though the school was not immediately successful, it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school had to be built. In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be employed by the federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012). In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many were wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to tend to those wounded (Jones 2012). Barton, who led by example, was able to build up a volunteer network that lasted the entirety of the war. In March of 1865, Barton started the Office of Correspondence with friends of the missing men in the United States Army. Barton, with the help of volunteers, identified over 22,000 missing men. The searches for missing men led her to assist in establishing a national cemetery, where they properly marked the graves of nearly 13,000 men (Gorlick 2002). My Personal Philosophy Of Philosophy Statement of Philosophy My personal philosophy its important for me that I stay true to my personal, moral and ethical values that has followed me throughout my life. The American Nursing Association stats The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to preserve integrity and safety, to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth . (American Nurse Association, 2011, p. 7) Jean Watson says that nursing should be concerned with the pursuit of hidden truths and new insights, developments of knowledge in relation to the human experiencing caring healing, health and illness (Watson, 2012, p. 2), and when the nurse does this, the nurse can be open to learn new discoveries of how to be in a professional human caring healing relationship with individuals or better serve humankind and global civilization . (Watson, 2012, p. 2). Personally, having the opportunity to impact someone everyday is very powerful, I want to be a compassionate nurse by the words I use, my actions, and my attitude can help another human being to heal and that is something that I will remember all throughout my life. • 9. Thaginian War Research Paper In 467 BC Syracuse would win its freedom from tyrannical rule and become a democratic society. Most Greek states, seeing that this was possible, quickly followed suit. By 404 BC, at the end of the Peloponnesian war, Athens no longer had any influence on the island. (For more information on this war read Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War). Later, Carthage, being allied to the Persian Empire, invaded Sicily on two specific occasions in the fifth century during the Peloponnesian war. The first invasion by the Carthaginian army was led, in 480 B.C., by a man named Hamilcar the Magonid (not to be confused with Hamilcar Barca of the First Punic wars), who later died in Himera. The second invasion was carried out two generations later in 409 B.C. by Hamilcar the Magonid s grandson, Hannibal (again not to be confused with famous Hannibal of the Second Punic wars). Hannibal assaulted the island from the west coast and marched on Himera. He slaughtered over 3000 Himerion citizens to avenge the death of his grandfather. He had gained control of almost 1/3 of Sicily in less than three months and returned home to Carthage. In 406 B.C. he would return and sack Akragas (Agrigento). A few months earlier a close family friend, Dana Griswold, had decided to discontinue her cancer treatment because it was too difficult on her body. • 14. Plato s Republic In Plato s Republic, Socrates goes to great lengths to explain and differentiate between the ideas of opinion and knowledge. Throughout society, most common men are lovers of sights and sounds. Lovers of sights and sounds like beautiful sounds, colors, shapes, and everything fashioned out of them, but their thought is unable to see and embrace the nature of the beautiful itself (Republic 476b). The few who do recognize the beautiful itself are followers of the sight of truth, the philosophers. Knowledge is based on what is, or truths. The only established truths are the forms. The forms represent true, eternal, unchanging, or facts. Knowledge stems from the idea of forms. One who has knowledge must understand the forms. Only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discussion goes on to conclude that justice gives benefits to friends and does harm to enemies (332d). Again, Socrates swiftly refutes this definition by stating that a man does not always know who are his real friends and enemies. Both of these ideas of justice display relativity and therefore they fail as definitions. A variety of situations can easily disprove any classification of justice displaying such relativity. Exceptions will always exist. Glaucon and Adeimantus decide to take a different path in trying to understand justice. He develops three classes of goods: things desired only for their consequences, things desired for their own sake, and things desired both for their consequences and their own sake. When prompted by the brothers, Socrates places justice in the highest class, stating that justice should be valued for both itself and its consequences (357a – 358a). This supports the idea of justice as a non relative concept. As a form of knowledge, justice simply is. Likewise, justice should be valued simply for the fact that it is justice. Justice itself is good, and in addition those who observe justice will be rewarded. However, the brothers point out that most people do not agree with this classification of ... • 16. In The Cask Of Amontillado, The Raven, And Annabel Lee The unity of effect is all the elements in a story that channels the effect the author wants the audience to experience. Therefore, to achieve the unity of effect in the Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, and Annabel Lee, Poe used the elements of setting, alliteration, and unreliable narrator to help elicit the unsettling mood in the audience. For the sake of the unity of effect , Poe uses setting for the purpose of conceiving a sinister mood. As Montresor and Fortunato walked deeper into the catacombs in the Cask of Amontillado, Montresor points out the trickling of the water on the bones. We are below the river s bed. The drops of moisture trickle among the bones. (Cask)The setting is under the surface of the earth, so the audience associates it with with Hell because of the bones that lie around. The bones also make the audience feel that the setting is eery and dangerous because it reminds them of death. This only makes isolation and danger prominent factors in the setting. The mood becomes unpredictable and treacherous, with a sense of fear and dread knowing that something bad will happen to the characters who are away from safety. Under those circumstances, Poe controlled the audience s fear and the diabolical mood using the dark setting. Once again Poe uses the unity of effect to elicit this tense mood and draw out terror in the audience. In The Raven, Poe used alliteration with the intention to build a suspenseful mood and dread in the audience. The narrator of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to its large successes and quick growth, Advanced Research has also developed into an attractive target for cyber criminals and attackers. This has been previously demonstrated by the defacement of Advanced Research s public facing website as well as being a victim of Denial of Service attacks throughout a nine month period in 2011. The threat of Denial of Service attacks, as well as any attacks on Advanced Research s public facing infrastructure, is a major security issue for multiple reasons. Firstly, Kenig (2013) reported The average cost of one minute of downtime due to a DDoS attack is $22,000. With an average downtime of 54 minutes per DDoS attack, this amounts to a heavy toll. That amounts to $1,188,000 for an attack that lasts just under an hour. Can Advanced Research afford even that small amount of downtime? Iago devised a plan to persuade the King that his had been having an affair with his trusted friend Cassio. Iago s actions resulted in the Moor killing Desdemona. After learning the truth, Othello committed suicide. The references to the play foreshadow the ending of the novel but also gives further explanations to the actions of Gibreel. The first mentions of Othello only occurred to criticize Shakespeare because he couldn t spell (256). The primary reference occurs when Gibreel wondered about the creation of evil, why it grows, how it takes unilateral possession of a many sided human soul. Or, let s say: the enigma of Iago (439). Gibreel continues by denying his allegations saying he s, no match for the moor (439). Gibreel turns out to me more naive than the moor because the events that occur in Othello are mirrored in the novel. Gibreel assumes the role of Othello, Saladin Iago, and Gibreel s love interest Allie Cone, Desdemona. Gibreel inherited the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My guess is, they misjudged and were wrong with their intelligence gathering. But since this attack, the Central Intelligence Agency has fixed the intelligence blind spots. However, I think the government needs to think about the newer intelligence issues that are being developed. In closing, governments need to know that even though the possibility of a biological or chemical attack is remote, they have a responsibility to do everything in their power to curb the opportunities, guard, and take action. For the Japanese government their test is to establish how much to organize for a low probability attack, all while safeguarding against on more likely events with significant, but not inevitably disastrous penalties. In the poem Dream Deferred , by Langston Hughes; the novel Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck; and the play A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, it talks about what dreams are like and what happens to dreams. Langston Hughes is questioning what happens to dreams that are forgotten. John Steinbeck is telling a person to strive for his/her goals and to not forget or give up on dreams. In Hansberry s opinion, she is implying that dreams can come true if a person tries hard, even if he/she is going through a tough time. • 26. The And Of The Westminster If you asked most people how to characterize a democracy, they will often cite phrases like liberty and freedom or power to the people . Although, in class, we have learned that it s more complex than one might initially consider. It is important to note that not all democracies are governed the same way; and yet, despite these divergent elements, they still all fit under the definition of democracy. The United Kingdom, a parliamentary democracy, and Switzerland, a direct democracy, have very different forms of democratic governance. I will explore the differences and similarities of these two democracies through the lens of the Westminster (majoritarian) model criterion; and enumerate on the strengths and weaknesses of each comparison. The first Westminster model criterion we will examine is the concentration of power in one party cabinets. In the United Kingdom this manifests itself primarily through the vehicle of strict party discipline. The majority party fills government positions with their top party officials and this newly formed government remains in power until a vote of no confidence is passed. Similarly, cabinets are typically made up of a single party and are expected to work as a cohesive unit. A cabinet member must abide by cabinet policy and there are harsh punishments inflicted upon those who do not follow party lines. Publicly denouncing a policy decision is strictly forbidden. Recently, the Hippo pathway has been proposed to be involved in organ size regulation. The Hippo pathway regulates the size of organs through controlling cell number. A major downstream effector of the Hippo pathway is the transcription coactivator Yes associated protein (YAP). YAP is responsible for upregulating genes that promote cell proliferation and downregulating genes that promote cell apoptosis. Elongated upregulation of YAP leads to hyperplasia and tumor formation.
