2. Non-Profit Management Program Analysis
I am applying to the Master s program of Non Profit Management at Northeastern University, because
I believe it will help to prepare me to achieve my career goal of being an executive director of a non
profit organization. When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I distinctly remember her
worries about taking care of herself, her children, and making the most of her life. I also remember her
fears being less prevalent when she began receiving assistance from non profit organizations that
helped her with medical issues but also help her get through her daily routine. As I saw my mother
enjoy time with her family before her passing, I saw that unique and important role that non profit
organizations had in society. It also made me want to use my education and personal experiences to
help those in need.

opportunity to design programs and workshops, and train mentors in order to help the transition of
freshmen into our college community easier. This role gave me the ability to center my work on the
specific purpose of the peer advising program, and use my skills to ensure that the freshmen class

3. Standardized Testing Craze In The Usa Research Paper
The mark of success in America for most people is pursuing higher education once a high school
diploma or General Education Development (GED) is obtained. However, the pursuit of higher
education is not easy to come by since it all comes down to the decisions made by College Admissions
committees at various colleges and universities. Being admitted into a college or university depends
on a number factors, namely Grade Point Average (GPA), Rank, and SAT or ACT exam scores. Should
college entrance exams be weighed so heavily in the college admissions process? The standardized
testing craze in the United States is to blame for the emphasis on college entrance exams. College
entrance exams can be tied to standardized testing that began in the ... Show more content on

Must The President Be Born In The USA? The issue on whether or not the President of the USA must
be born in the USA has been very heated argument, especially now that we are exceptionally close to
the 2016 President elections. Some of the candidates have strong opinions on this topic. Republican
candidate Donald Trump says, You can t have a nominee who s going to be subject to being thrown
out as the nominee. He was pointing out the fact that although Ted Cruz s mother was born in the U.S

My opinion is that if a child is not born but is brought to the United States at a young age, maybe 15
years old or younger, then they too should have a chance to be president of the country in which they
were raised in for most of their life. I believe that if a child is brought at a young age, by the time they
are old enough to be president, 35 years old, then they have grown up in the culture of the United
States and they have been living here for most of their lives, that it is almost like they were born in the
U.S. On the other hand if the child was brought to the United States later on in life then they might not
appreciate the United States as much, because they might have been brought to the United States by
their parents, and they might have a hard time going against their home country in times like war. I
also agree with the fact that the term natural born citizen is very ambiguous. A child that is born within
the borders of the US is obviously a natural born citizen, but it could also mean someone with
American parents, regardless of not being born in the U.S is American. This term is very vague and

6. The Buddhist Temple That Has Created Disagreement Among...
Borobudur located on the island of Java is a Buddhist temple that has created disagreement among the
academic community. There are two schools of thought in which scholars such as art historians and
archeologist debate about what the real significance and purpose of Borobudur is about. For example,
a group of scholars argues that Borobudur is stupa. This contrasts the other scholars who contends that
Borobudur is a mandala. Although both groups of scholars adequately analyze Borobudur and provide
evidence to support their arguments, the argument that the Buddhist temple is both a mandala and
stupa is rational. In this paper, I will present evidence from both sides of the argument, in which
Borobudur has ignited copious amounts of controversy for in the scholarly communities. However, at
the end, I will argue that I disagree with both schools of thought because Borobudur is actually both a
stupa and a mandala.
A stupa is a mound like circular structure that contains the relics of a Buddha. Buddhist frequently
participate in pilgrimages to stupas because of worship opportunities. Although Buddhist architects
built Borobudur in the 9th century, but academics do not know what the original purposes of what the
structure was constructed for. However, though visual and architectural evidence many academics
believe that Borobudur is a stupa. While traditionally, a structure, like a stupa consists of one focalized

I hope you are doing well. I am Amy Ratigan, a sophomore at Merion Mercy Academy, located
outside of Philadelphia, and I am writing to you in hopes that you will consider my plan. I am
proposing that when drivers turn seventy years old, they should be required to retake the driving
exam. Mercury News states: According to the Institute of Highway Safety, drivers 85 years and older
have the highest rate of fatal accidents per miles driven of any age group. However, if there were a
law passed which required drivers to retake it age seventy, there would be a decrease in fatal accidents
and an increase in safer drivers. I can say from experience that family members at home worry about
their loved ones who refuse to abandon their right for freedom. With this new law, family members
will be worry free, roads will be safer, and the drivers themselves will benefit with a refresher course.

Having those over the age of seventy retake the driving test would allow for safer roads and less
accidents. The last major effort to have a bill passed to retake the driving test was in 1999 when a
Santa Monica teen was killed by a 96 year old driver who last took the driving test eighty one years
ago. Although this bill failed, I would only hope that if the driver had retaken the test, that Santa
Monica teenager may still be alive today. There would be safer drivers on the road if everyone was
aware of the updated laws when they reached seventy. This would eventually lead to a decrease in
fatal accidents due to the fact that drivers would be more experienced and capable. Once they turned
seventy, most would have taken their last driving test over 50 years ago, obviously way too long. This
renewed driving exam would allow for safer roads and a better overall driving atmosphere. However,
disagreements will arise with this new

8. Paula Hawkins s The Girl On The Train
Thrillers are one of America s favorite genres of movies to watch. If you are a bookworm, a movie
about a book you recently read can be exciting. One major part of any movie that can make or break
the film is the characters casted. The way we see the character while we read it can be completely
different to the character in the movie. There is nothing more devastating than when the movie does
not follow the book either. The Girl on the Train is the perfect example of this inconsistency. Paula
Hawkins famous thriller The Girl on the Train, was made into a movie in two thousand sixteen. This is
one year after it was written. There were some major inconsistencies that I noticed while watching the
movie after reading the book. Besides the obvious differences such as the way the characters looked

9. Socrates Vs Socrates
Socrates and Aristotle would think that philosophy was for the greater good and expanding the minds
of those around them. Socrates in particular would regard philosophy as conversational and weeding
out those who know and those who do not. Aristotle would use philosophy to try to reach the
conclusion on what happiness is. These great thinkers believed absolute contemplation was the
greatest pleasure human beings could reach, so for them philosophy was reaching a type of Nirvana.
Take the Apology as an example of what Socrates thought about philosophy. When charged with
atheism and corrupting the youth he defends himself by claiming he is an ignorant man. Socrates is on

Sadly, we know of Socrates fate and with him trying to change Athens for the better it backfires on
him. But, Socrates leaves those who attended his trial his with some final words that speak to who he
is and how he felt about what he was doing regarding his philosophy. If, I say, now, when, as I
conceive and imagine, God orders me to fulfil the philosopher s mission of searching into myself and
other men, I were to desert my post through fear of death, or any other fear; that would indeed be
strange, and I might justly be arraigned in court for denying the existence of the gods, if I disobeyed
the oracle because I was afraid of death: then I should be fancying that I was wise when I was not
wise. For this fear of death is indeed the pretence of wisdom, and not real wisdom, being the
appearance of knowing the unknown; since no one knows whether death, which they in their fear
apprehend to be the greatest evil, may not be the greatest good (Apology, Plato). As I stated in my
introduction Socrates and Aristotle believed that contemplative thought was the highest form of
human life. That this concept of thinking and attempting to answer life s hardest questions was the
best thing to occur to any human being. When looking at their point of view of what is the highest
kind of pleasure a human can achieve it begs the question if that is

Oppenheimer was always a brooding and intense man. As a youth he suffered some degree of torment
from kids his age for his bookish tendencies. During his college years, he sustained several bouts of
depression. Looking back at his college years, Oppenheimer remarked that virtually everything
aroused a very great sense of revulsion and wrong. He had a tendency to ask difficult questions of his
professors. After his oral PhD exam, one of his evaluators was reputed to have said that Phew, I m
glad that s over. He was on the point of questioning me. In 1929 Oppenheimer returned to the United
States to take up teaching positions at Berkeley and Cal Tech. During the 30 s, Oppenheimer began to
become associated with a variety of heavily left wing organizations affiliated with Communism. This
was mainly due to the repression of several Jewish relatives in Nazi Germany. He married Katherine
Harrison in 1940, who was a member of the Communist party and had two children. He also started to
distance himself from his former leftist friends and groups. This was probably largely done to make
himself more attractive to obtaining the post of head of development for atomic bombs. Historian

Family is defined as a group of people related to each other or lives together under the same roof and a

The family is the fundamental unit and micro structure of society. The level of development of the
family reflects the state of social existence both physical and cultural and based on trust and shared
experiences that define how individual members interact and relate to each other and the world outside
the family. However, family structures today s society has changed in the family traditional or non

It is common knowledge that the culture seems to have different kinds of family system. In the United

The solution that was performed in this experiment was to use sulfuric acid in order to form a
protonated alcohol, so when the halogen or nucleophile back attacks the compound, water is
displaced. Once the alcohol is protonated, the solution reacts in either an SN1 or SN2 mechanism. A
unimolecular nucleophilic substitution or SN1 is a two step reaction that occurs with a first order
reaction. The rate limiting step, which is the first step, forms a carbocation. This would be the slowest
step in the mechanism. The addition of the nucleophile speeds up the reaction and stabilizes the
carbocation. This reaction is more favorable with tertiary and sometimes secondary alkyl halides
under strong basic or acidic conditions with secondary or tertiary alcohols. In this experiment, the t
butyl halide underwent an SN1 reaction. Nucleophiles do not necessarily effect the reaction because
the nucleophile is considered zero order, (which makes it a first order reaction.) The ion that should
have the strongest effect in an SN1 reaction is the bromide ion. The bromide ion should be stronger
because it has a lower electronegativity than chloride as well as a smaller radius. In a bimolecular
nucleophilic substitution or SN2 reaction, there is only one step. This occurs because the addition of
the nucleophile and the elimination of the leaving group spontaneously occur at the same time.

Taking a shower, washing your car, living life, all require one common element, water. Roughly
seventy percent of the surface of Earth is liquid, that s a lot of H2O. With such an abundance of this
natural resource why do so many not have access to a reliably clean source? Industrialization was the
problem for the residents of Hinkley, California as portrayed by director Steven Soderbergh s 2000
drama titled Erin Brockovich. A movie that made the public aware of a life threating substance found
throughout the world. Erin Brockovich is based on the community of Hinkley, California a town
located in the Mojave Desert. Where more than 600 residents were destructively affected by
groundwater that was polluted with Chromium VI (CrVI) also known as hexavalent chromium. Three
miles southeast of Hinkley, is the site of Hinkley Compressor Station 3, owned by the Pacific Gas and

pipelines running from Texas to California. The California Water Science Center reports that during
the 1950s and 1960s the compressors cooling water was treated with Cr VI to prevent corrosion of the
compressor station. That cooling water was then released into unlined ponds subsequently releasing
contaminates into the soil and groundwater (U.S. Geological Survey 2016). Chromium is not a new

Measure for Measure is often described as a problem comedy because the themes and tones that are
presented in the play do not share the same optimistic themes and tones of Shakespeare s previous

(the bed trick ), disguise, the Duke disguises himself as a Friar to keep tabs on Angelo, Lucio as
comedic relief, and the resolution of the play with the multiple marriages of Juliet and Claudio,
Angelo and Mariana, and Lucio and Kate Keepdown. Although Measure for Measure fills the criteria

marriage for at least two of the pairings. Compared to Shakespeare s other comedies, marriage is not a
form of punishment but rather a goal for the couples to satisfy their mutual yearning for each other,
and their communities demand for clear kinship structures...to legitimate members of a new
generation (Maus 2040). For Claudio and Juliet, their union becomes official when the Duke orders

Welcome Edward to Bravo Team Company. We have many different groups within Bravo Company,
and as a manager you will need to be up to speed quickly on some of the common communication
barriers within the company. The common barriers, such as Disruptive team members, language,
listening, and group think, are some of the ones that we have seen in the past. I have given examples
and also techniques on how some managers have handled these barriers. I also wanted to let you know
a little about conflicts in groups, which can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same is also true with the use of slang in conversations. Remember that English might not be all
the team member s first language.
* Listening Barrier
Another type of communication barrier is the listening barrier. Listening is harder than you think. You
have to become an active listener. You need to pay attention to what a team member is saying. If you
do not pay attention in meetings, then you may look like you do not care about what others have to
say. If you are trying to focus on when you can jump into the conversation, it may make you seem
unable to relate to others around you. Once George came in to see me, and I was working on the
financials. I knew he had come in, and I thought I was listening, but I need to get the reports done. He
spoke to me, I must have answered him, but when I finished. I thought back to why George had come
in, and I could not remember. So, I had to go and ask George what he had asked before which was a
little embarrassing. So, I had to figure out how not to have this happen again.
* A Technique that I have found helpful, as I am guilty of not actively listening, is to make sure I focus
on what people are saying. It is difficult to do, as you may want to rehearse what you want to say. If
you use active listening, you should be able to see when there is a pause and be able to jump into the
conversation. I am guilty of having people walk into my office, and because I

20. Classification
Classification Essay
There are three types of drivers in this world: competent, overcautious, and reckless. After driving for
many years in frustrating rush hour traffic, one might find there are three types of drivers, competent
drivers who keep the flow going, over cautious drivers who cause slow and backed up traffic, and
reckless drivers who weave in and out of traffic causing one near death experience after another.
Trying to sort out what type of driver a person might be is an extremely challenging task. In a person s
own mind, they think they are the aggressive type of driver, or the cautious type, but no one will ever
admit that they are reckless kind. In most cases they re too oblivious to these classifications and all

A final classification of an overcautious driver would be one who was previously in bad accident.
Feeling the mental and financial sting of having to buy a whole new car really puts things into
perspective, but hinders them on the road.
Now we get into what is known as the reckless driver. A picture comes to mind of a frazzled man or
woman driving a beat up Oldsmobile; cigarette dangling from the lip of their mouth, swerving in and
out of traffic while others beep their horns in disapproval. This type of driver can occur when a
competent driver has had a bad day and is encountering the overly cautious driver. Stereotypically this
driver is younger in age and male, but I feel that the reckless driver has no set age or sex. They get so
angry for the smallest of reasons that they don t really care what they do as a result, so long as they go
out in a blaze of glory. They tend to disregard most driving signs and have no qualms about risking
their life or the lives of others. These are the drivers who barely apply the brake when coming to a
stop, more like tap tap and go . My uncle Jim is a prime example of a reckless driver. At the age of 82,
he drives a boat of a Cadillac, commanding the streets with his led foot and somewhat latent reactions
to those around him. Try telling him to ease up or look out, and he s bound to increase the gas flow to
his V8 engine.

A lot of people become amazed when they see how majestic the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are.
Have people ever thought of how or why those huge monuments were built? These structures, which
had an important role in history, now become a great form of tourism for Egypt. There are a lot of
mysteries regarding the pyramids and the Sphinx, and many humans may not understand some of
these things. Why is the peak of the Pyramid of Giza not completed? Or why isn t Khufu s body in his
burial chamber? Not all of those questions have a correct answer. The Great Sphinx and the pyramids
of Egypt have existed since thousands of years ago and were built by Ancient Egyptian Kings mostly
to honor and symbolize themselves. Or do others believe someone else built them and for another
reason? The Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to be a national symbol of Egypt, was built to honor and
symbolize Egypt s King during those times. It was built in the Old Kingdom near Cairo in Egypt,
during King Khafre s reign. The people believe that the Sphinx s head contains their King s face,
Khafre s. Still other theories suggest that King Khufu might have been the one to build the Sphinx
with his face on its head. This fierce looking creature is really a combination of the head of a woman

23. The American Dream In I Hear America Singing By Walt Whitman
During this era the American dream was the notion that a man could create a successful life for
himself and his family. As discussed earlier, America effectively isolated women and African
Americans, therefore they had no way to make a living to support themselves. A prime example of this
would be in the poem I Hear America Singing by Walt Whitman. Whitman describes the sound of
America as one of hard work produced by workers. He writes, the carpenter singing his as he
measures his plank or beam (Whitman 3). It illustrates the hard work that Americans put into their
careers, and their willingness to support the nation s economy. No African Americans appear in the
poem, and Whitman describes women working in the house. Once again, the exclusivity of the nation
only allows white males to have a chance of achieving a pleasant, stable life. At this time, a majority
of African Americans remained enslaved across the Nation, which prohibited them from being able to
build any sort of life for themselves. Therefore the American Dream is not even an option for almost a
quarter of the population. How could someone prohibited from leaving a plantation be able to support
themselves and live an acceptable life? For almost all African Americans the idea was unthinkable
until the later half of the 1860 s when the government abolished slavery. When it comes to women,
however, one could say that living the American dream was possible. Women in America worked in

his four step process for solving issues without the inhumane course of violence. Even with all the
hate that is present in current day issues, such as racial discriminations seem to never fade away

wrong way to go, but in turn makes the people want to resort to this solution for every problem in

Background For my practice I was fortunate to be able to work at the Bethany in Cochrane. This
facility was well kept and has much of the equipment to properly and holistically care for their
residents. While in practice, I was able to help with a variety of tasks, including morning care and bed
making. An essential element of morning care was a skin assessment, typically to look for bruises, dry
spots, and most importantly, ulcers. Ulcers are painful and can decrease quality of life (Ricci, 2013).
Skin breakdown is typically caused by moisture, skin pH, microorganisms, and friction (Flynn, 2011).
The use of stretchy polyester cotton blend sheets at the facility led to the inquiry of skin integrity and
the influence of fabrics on aging skin. I began to wonder if fabric breathability make that much of a
difference, which lead me to the question of fabrics and facts. Does the use of polyester sheets, cotton

For this study researchers assessed 32 different fabrics made of polyester, cotton, viscose fibers,
polypropylene, and a blend of the fabrics to determine the thermal conductivity, the wicking ability,
the breathability of the fabric, and the fabrics ability to absorb water (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In order to
collect accurate data researchers used an Alambeta thermos tester, a specialized machine to measure
heat and moisture. In this study, polyester and cotton alone caused higher thermal resistance than a
cotton polyester blend (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). A strait cotton or polyester blend was found to be better at
wicking away moisture, which is one of the main causes of skin breakdown (Basal Ilgaz, 2009). In the
conclusion of the study the researchers determined that channeled polyester was the best choice for

The Meatpacking Factory is a case study involving the decision of a factory manager to let his Muslim
workers observe their faith by taking breaks at sunrise and sundown during their holy month of

should be considerate of the religious beliefs of his employees. There are about 100 Muslim workers

27. Outline Of The Dinosaur Extinction
Outline
The Dinosaur Extinction:
Introduction to the K T event.
Theories of extinction.
Assumptions of extinction:
1. Due to climate change.
2. Due to small mammals that ate dinosaur eggs.
3. Due to dinosaurs bodies that are too big to be worked by their little brains.
4. Due to starvation.
5. Due to environmental change.
6. Due to Supernova that showered the earth in radiation.
7. Due to iridium enriched mud.
Extinction Still a theory.
The K T event, or the Cretaceous Tertiary extinction event, is the name given for the vanishing of the
dinosaurs and different species that took place about 65 million year back. For ages, scientists
believed that this event was caused due to the atmospheric and topographical changes that invaded on
the dinosaurs food supply. But, in the 1980s, researchers Luis and Walter Alvarez discovered a layer of
iridium on the earth s surface. It suggests that a comet, space rock or meteor effect might have caused
the extinction of the dinosaurs. In the 1990s, researchers found the enormous Chicxulub Crater at the
tip of Mexico s Yucantan Peninsula, which dates to the period being referred [1].
There are various theories, yet no proofs. Dinosaurs wandered the earth for about 160 million years
until their sudden eradication approximately 65 million years prior, in a K T extinction event. Other
than dinosaurs, numerous different types animals and plants ceased to

29. Analysis Of Through The Tunnel By Doris Lessing
In life, one must overcome their fears in order to achieve or successfully attain a certain goal in their
mind. The short story Through the Tunnel , by Doris Lessing tells us about how Jerry builds
confidence and maturity throughout the story, by overcoming his fear of going through the dark and
scary tunnel underneath the water. The author portrays the idea of overcoming one s fear to achieve a
goal through Jerry, who was once a childish and isolated character, had begun his risky adventure of
going through the tunnel to prove his worth to a group of boys and along the way discovers what he
truly wants. Over time he becomes more mature and in the end, gain self acceptance.
Initially, our first thoughts of Jerry at the beginning of the story, is that he acts immature and is
burdened within a circle of maternal protection. During the opening of the story, the author conveys
Jerry s relative childishness by labeling him as the boy . The author also uses the mother to
demonstrate his youth and how he is trapped in a circle of maternal protection which leads us to think
that he is lonely due to that reason. In this part, His mother walks in front of him, carrying a bright
white strap in one hand tells us that because the mother was walking in front of him, it gives us the
impression that the mother still thinks of him as a boy that needs to be protected from any potential
harm. We see more of Jerry s immaturity and how the burden of protection leads his actions as we go
through the story. During the part where Jerry sees the group of boys acting free spirited, we see that
he is overcome with desire to be with them, probably because he feels that because he is always in the
circle of protection making him feel lonely and isolated from everyone. At first, he is added into the
group and begins to have fun jumping from the cliff into the water with the other boys. Later on
however, he starts to act immature when he realizes he could not do the same thing the other boys
were doing. That was, underwater for a long time and going through the dark tunnel and he becomes
scared. In this passage, ... In a panic of failure, he yelled up, in English, Look at me! Look! and he

32. Integrative Approach In Anthropology
Archaeology and the subdivision of bioarchaeology have played a profound role in our knowledge and
understanding of past and modern populations. Through the analyses of human skeletal remains, the
broad field of anthropology provides remarkable insights into multiple aspects of human life.
Specifically, the field of bioarchaeology has contributed to our understanding of how environmental,
cultural, and biological factors have influenced death and survival in the archaeological record
(Martin, Harrod, Perez, 2013:1). Despite its immense contributions to the understanding of human
behaviour, anthropological techniques have faced a great deal of scrutiny when it comes to assessing

In order to develop an in depth understanding of each of the factors that contributed to the health and
well being of an individual, bioarchaeologists collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines,
such as biology, epidemiology, and demography to assess the context of remains (Larsen, 2015:66).
This integrative approach ultimately allows for the consideration of a wide range of factors that may
have contributed to an individual s social history (Martin et al., 2013:60). In particular, this knowledge
is used to create an osteobiography of the sociocultural and biological factors that were experienced
by the individual throughout their lifetime (Lecture: Week 8). Through the use of this osteobiography,
bioarchaeologists can gain critical insights into the social and biological phenomena that may have
contributed to the presence of skeletal indicators, such as abnormal lesions, or stunted growth patterns
that are demonstrated in many past populations (Larsen, 2015:425). While growth or stature may be
interpreted simply as a result of genetic factors, bioarchaeologists integrate data from across several
different domains in order to determine whether stature, or height for age, is the result of biological or
environmental stressors, or a combination of both (Larsen, 2015:426). Rather than jumping to simple
conclusions, bioarchaeologists seek to develop an understanding of the broader connections between
health and contextualization in order to better understand why certain individuals are more susceptible
to disease and mortality than

34. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction
Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is always regulated by
the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be overridden by an agreement on jurisdiction by
the defendant s voluntary submission to the different forum. It has imperative character and stands on
the fact that the matters involved in the exclusive jurisdiction rules are closely linked to the state
sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state interest prevails over the
private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its courts hear the dispute despite other
controversial circumstances (such as for instance the agreement on the jurisdiction of a different
court), exclude any possibility to transfer the case and the most important, do not allow the
recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made with the violation of the exclusive
jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified and admissible. Therefore, the
provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if the subject matter of the dispute is one of the
specifically indicated therein, only the courts pointed there have jurisdiction to hear the dispute and

38. Comparison Of The Chrysler Building And The Seagram Building
When thinking of buildings that were ahead of their time two come to mind the Chrysler Building and
the Seagram Building. Both of these structures were built to withstand the elements of time and are
still beautiful to this day. These buildings have been featured on the cover of magazines, tv shows and
are modern marvels in today s society. Between the two buildings, one can not help but look at the
similarities as well as the differences between the two. Today I want to discuss these differences as
well as the similarities and go into greater detail on why these buildings are significant. The Chrysler
Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper that was built during one of the most severe economic
downturns in this country s history. The building was finished in the year 1930 and is located in New
York City. The Chrysler Building was constructed using stainless steel over an exposed building
surface which was a first for its time (History of Walter P. Chrysler and the Chrysler Building, n.d.).
The next important thing to think about when understanding the Chrysler Building is to figure out
what it was designed for. Although the building was not owned by Chrysler it was used for the
corporation s offices which used the building until the mid 1950 s (Chrysler Building, n.d). Next,
when one looks at the Chrysler Building they can tell it represents an Art Deco style by its many
unique features. The Chrysler Building represents the Art Deco style because of its monuments,

39. Dillon V. Champion Jogbra
Assignment #4 Dillon v. Champion Jogbra Business Employment Law HRM 510 Dr. Zelphia A.
Brown, SPHR, Instructor Assignment #4 Dillon V. Champion Jogbra 1. What is the legal issue in this
case? Linda Dillon appealed her case against her employer, Champion Jogbra, on the grounds of
wrongful termination. The company s progressive policy for disciplinary action was not applied.
Therefore, Dillon makes her claim that her at will status was modified according to the employee
handbook and practices. Employee s handbook should be written clearly and reviewed by legal
experts (Walsh, 2010). Champion Jogbra countered that Dillon was an at will employee and she could
be terminated at any time. Dillon also, argues against that the ... Show more content on

Champion Jogbra s disciplinary action policy, the at will employment relationship and the mixed
messages in the manual are all misleading to the employees. 4. Explain why the disclaimer in the
employee manual does not have the effect desired by the employer. Champion Jogbra employee
manual was unclear and misleading. Disclaimers when used should contain language that is clear,
specific and communicated effectively to the employees. Disclaimers when used should be presented
in a manner that is prominent and obvious manner, (Walsh). Champion Jogbra, on one hand the
employer, will provide fair and equal treatment, on another hand the employee can be terminated at
anytime. These are mixed messages the employer, Jogbra was providing its employees. Policies listed
in the employee handbook made the employees feel as though their job was protected, even though
Champion Jogbra does not offer employment contracts. The guidelines listed in the employee
handbook as champion Jogbra so eloquently called them are not a part of an employment contract and
should not be taken as such. However the guidelines were vague and gave the employees false
pretense that their

40. Challenges Facing The Human Resource Department
Introduction of the Issue:
As international businesses become more common and globalization continues to boom, many
challenges face the Human Resource Department. With employees and business spanning over many
countries, continents and hemispheres, businesses will face cultural diversity, technology reliance, and
many other risks that go along with international businesses. Human Resource departments have been
forced to become more knowledgeable in the hiring, training and retention of managers in
international businesses due to these challenges. HR should first learn how best to train managers, and
then utilize the following best practices to implement the training and development of managers in
international business.
Training
Training managers is the outlying part of each best practice Human Resources must implement. To
train well, HR must find the best way to go about training managers, which may be in various
locations and from a broad range of cultures. In the article titled, Multicultural Work Force, training is
explained in two forms, awareness training and skill building. Awareness training is broader and
aimed at increasing a manager s self awareness with situational exercises. These exercises will show
employees how they think, manage and act when challenges emerge. After seeing the results, HR can
directly work on areas needing improvement to best equip the managers in solving challenges. Skill
building is directly looking at cultural norms for specific

42. The Opening Night In The Theater Play Analysis
As the lights dim in the theatre, I know that my husband is in for an interesting experience, as he has
no background knowledge (other than the quick Cole s notes version I gave in the car ride to Grand
Bend) about the iconic Broadway sensation Chicago.
Boy, was I right.
The opening night of Drayton Entertainment s Chicago at the Huron Country Playhouse had the
audience captured from the start. Lots of long legs, toned abs and barely there costumes along with
amazing musically talented ensemble definitely grab the attention of all in the theatre. This is not a
show for young children!
The darker, sultry side of life in the 1920s Chicago comes alive through edgy dancing, strong musical
numbers and humour as the cast razzle dazzles its way through the story of the two divas, Velma Kelly
and Roxie Hart, who vie for the spotlight in Cook County Jail after doing away with their cheating
lovers. Both Jodi McFadden (Velma) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His rendition of Mr. Cellophane captures the sympathy of the audience, as Amos is just pathetic.
Dean Hollin portrayed the sly lawyer Billy Flynn and made me hate how slimy and sleazy his
character was but done in such a smooth way. Valerie Boyle gets the audience going as Mama Morton
after her opening song When You re Good to Mama that had us cheering for her and her powerful
vocals.
My husband and I enjoyed some salted caramel ice cream bars during the intermission under the new,
large gazebo that has been recently built on the front lawn. It was great to overhear conversations from
other viewers about what they thought so far. Many talked about the athletic ability of the ensemble
and the vocal talents of the whole cast. Others discussed the costumes (mostly the men) who seemed
to be pleased that their wives and significant others brought them to the Huron Country

or a feeling/spiritual connection. These connections can impact your life, your character, and may
have an influence on the person you become later on in life, even if you don t notice. I believe in the
special connections in life and how they impact you.
One of the special connections I ve had is with my one of my best friends and she has truly impacted
me as a person. My cousin, Emma, always seems to know what s happening in my life because she
knows me better than just about everyone. Even though she lives in New York, she s

44. Anne Frank Remembered By Miep Gies Analysis
In the book Anne Frank Remembered By Miep Gies, the theme is thought. Thought is used throughout
the book when Miep thinks about Jewish men and women in the war, is constantly selfless, and she
thinks very wisely. Miep definitely thinks a lot throughout the book. For instance, Miep thinks about
all the Jewish men, women, and children. Miep feels horrible that all the people have to suffer. Miep
herself helps her own bunch of Jews survive. My head churned with the contradictory bit of
information. I dreaded to think about the unpleasant rumors circulating, rumors of harsh treatment
being doled out by the Germans to their helpless prisoners in these remote camps ( #107). This
definitely shows that Miep is feeling bad and thinking about

45. Chronological Age And Functional Age
Late adulthood is portrayed in prints, TV and other popular media from various perspectives. In
general, they are depicted as wise, stubborn, love to give advice, have difficulty performing regular
physical activities, some are even in wheelchairs or using assisted canes, and have lots of stories to
tell. It s the period of time when people are supposed to become slower, to get more obsessive, needy,
and look confused most of the time. However, this period has interesting facts to educate each and
every one of us. We are all going to get there, one way or another. Chronological age vs functional age
Everyone grows and ages differently. That is why chronological age is a flawed tool to use to check a
person s functional age. There is a vast variation between chronological age and functional age.
Chronological age is essentially a person s biological age, while functional age is used to dictate the
actual competence and performance of an individual . For example, a 70 year old can actually appear
younger than a 55 year old (Berk 443). Life Expectancy Chronological age doesn t show an accurate
functional age because people age at different rates. The average life expectancy is the number of
years that a person can expect to live based on his birth year and the region he lives in. Over the years,
there have actually been dramatic raise in the average life expectancy. Qualities in lifespan varies

46. Problems That Young People Face
Jarron Brind Young people s issues essay Youths these days have a lot of problems dealing with stress,
depression, family issues and a lot more, most of the problems that cause stress are in school and
college. Young people s lives can be complicated and affected by many issues which can impact on
their well being. The stress of school life, particularly at exam times, can be hard to manage and can
lead some people to feel very anxious and over loaded. Teenagers are aware that they need to get good
grades if they want to go to college or get a job but this can be hard if there are other things going on
for them like problems at home or maybe at school, such as bullying and alienation. I think this could
make young people feel very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadly sometimes people they know will die, such as their grandparents or other relatives, or even
friends, and this would be difficult to cope with on top of other stresses they might have. It is a very
serious and sad fact that nearly a quarter of teenagers have suffered some form of abuse in Britain,
which is about 1 in 30 people, this could lead to trauma and an inability to work or concentrate
knowing that this is happening, also they may feel scared to speak up about it and never have this
problem fixed, causing them to be shy and have an inability to trust people. they could also find a
different way to cope with it like excessive eating and get an eating disorder, self harming or drug use.
Also teenagers have a very specific stereotype hoody, jeans, vandalism, violence and chav but with
this the youths can either stoop to social pressure and dress like everyone else or they can be an
outcast and be individual, it is extremely rare that you find an individual person being accepted by
teenagers. Some of these stereotypes are correct for some people, like stealing and looking for fights
but with some people, they could be really nice, but because society has belittled them people think
that they should cross the street rather than walking through a crowd of chavs . Teenagers can have
stress at school or at home,

47. Similarities And Differences Between The Giver Book And Movie
The Giver is both best selling book by Lois Lowery and a major motion picture. They are both
centered on the same storyline and character but also have some major differences. The movie (and
the book) takes place in the confines of the community, something that started after the ruin, when all
memories were erased and everyone became equal. (Krule, 2014). The book and the movie and the
book are very different in many ways such as the plot, characters and concepts. The book and movie
are more different than they are similar, although there are a few similarities.
The plot of the book and movie follows a similar story line although there are many minor differences.
In both the book and movie the protagonist, Jonas, is about to go through some major changes. The
Elders of the community are selecting job positions for his class. At the selection ceremony the elders
announce each kid s job positon individually. The elders skip Jonas and move on to the next child.
This part of the story is very similar in the book and the movie, Jonas is selected to be The Receiver of
Memories , his job is to receive all the memories of the past and gain wisdom to help the elders of the
community. Some other main plot points that stay the same are Jonas training. The Giver transmits
memories of things such as color and war and emotions, things that no longer exist in the community.
The final major event is very different between the book and the movie. In the book, after learning
about much of the past, Jonas decides that he needs to leave the community to Elsewhere to release
the memories back to the community. In the movie, however, Jonas decided to leave the community
on a spur of the moment decision with little planning or thought. This is very different from the book
where Jonas escape was carefully planned out. One thing that is the same about Jonas escape is that he
takes Gabriel, a baby that is about to be released (Euthanized). The ending of both the book and movie
are the same, Jonas leaves the community and finds a house in Elsewhere . Neither works give much
closure as to what happens, the movie and book leave the reader to decide how the story ends.
The characters of The Giver are very similar but also
