It only states that it is the property of its bearer. This type of shares is transferred through delivery. Its
holder is the owner before the company.
3) Capital shares and enjoyment shares:
Enjoyment shares are the shares whose value was consumed. The capital shares are those whose value
was not consumed.
Consumption means returning the value of shares to shareholders before the company dissolution. In
principle, this return should not happen because the company member has the right to stay in it.
However the consumption of shares seems necessary in certain cases. If the company property, for
instance, decays with the passage of time such as mines and quarries. These companies consume
shares during their life so that shareholders don t find themselves unable to retrieve their share value
upon termination of the company.
Often, share consumption is made through assigning a part of profit each year to consume a part of
shares by draw. The shareholder whose share was consumed receive the nominal value as well as an
enjoyment share granting him a right to company profit and a right to vote in the general assembly.
4) Ordinary shares and preference shares:
In principle, shares are of equal value and they grant shareholder equal rights. The company statute
may, however, stipulate that the company issue preference shares granting preferential rights relative
to profits, voting or liquidation proceeds.

In this paper, we will review one of the graph database (Neo4j), which the graph database is part of
the emerging technology that is called NoSQL and compared it with one of the traditional relational
databases (MySQL). MySQL, it is being another name for Relational Databases and it has been used
for a long time period until now. However, with the emergence of Big Data there was clearly a need
for more flexible databases. Facebook s Graph Search use Neo4j, a graph database, is an application
which clearly displays how relationships need to be modeled in a more efficient and sophisticated
manner than using conventional relational models. In this paper, we will make a comparison between
MySQL and Neo4j based on the features like ACID, replication, availability and the language that is
used in both of them.
Keywords: RDBMS, NoSQL, Relational Databases, MySQL, Neo4j, ACID.

Why Was Lévi-Strauss Still Relevant Today
In this essay I will discuss why I believe that Claude Lévi Strauss work is still relevant today and I
will focus on the role that he assigns to the social anthropologist. Claude Lévi Strauss was the most
influential anthropologist theorist in France. His work which he contributed to anthropology still
remains to have significant relevance in todays contemporary anthropology. He was born on the 28th
of November 1908 and passed away on the 30th of October 2009. I will discuss his theory and what
he argued for and against. Anthropologists like Durkheim, De Saussure, Simiand, Rousseau, Jakobson
and Mauss and many more influenced Lévi Strauss when it came to his work. First I would like to
explain the term anthropology according to (Lévi Strauss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lévi Strauss discusses kinship, which in todays society is still very clear and important. Firstly when
anthropologists discuss kinship they are concerned with social behaviours and not biological facts and
the two sets of data are often so widely discrepant that it is often convenient to discuss kinship without
any reference to biology (Leach, 1973: 96). We have to break down kinship terms into individual
systems in order to see what relationship they have. Even though it states that kinship does not have to
do with biology there has to be link as it is obvious that a child is related to their mother just like she is
to her sister. Lévi Strauss is interested in in the systems and not as much with terms of kinship. He
looks at the ties by which people are related, rather this be through siblingship and/or affinal
relationships. In society in order for a child to be seen as a legitimate child they need to have two
parents who are married. Society does not judge this opinion on the relationship between the child and
his/her parents but on the relationship between the parents themselves. This extremity has faded into
the background for the most part in the contemporary society but is still around in some cases as
everyone is always interested in your family dynamic. The way in which people are related is still of
great importance. Lévi Strauss does not look at the basic relationships for example mother/daughter
and husband/wife, but he looks at the more complicated types of relationships such as the contrast
between father/son and mother s brother/sister s son. According to Lévi Strauss in order for a kinship
structure to exist three types of family relations must always be present: a relation of consanguinity, a
relation of affinity and a relation of descent. (Leach, 1973: 101). Through Lévi Strauss explanation of

The World War I And The Soviet Union
The intermission between the two world wars was fraught with the rise of militaristic, dictatorial
factions in Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, and the Soviet Union. By the time the Olympic torch was lit
in Berlin in 1936, all of these nations were either firmly under the grasp of an authoritarian regime or
engaged in a civil war destined to be quickly dominated by a fascist party. In response to both the
advance of authoritarianism abroad and the horrors of World War I, the United States more
ambitiously pursued isolationism as the solution to international affairs. As the country focused more
on domestic issues because of both the swelling isolationist sentiment and eventually the Great
Depression, the racial boundaries created by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1936 Summer Olympic games in Berlin, Jesse Owens sizably undermined the idealism of Aryan
dominance, carrying the African American community to an unprecedented level of honor. The
American icon was able to successfully alter racial tensions by growing out of the sharecropping
industry, creating new opportunities for blacks in sports, shattering world records and German hopes,
bringing honor to the black community, and receiving national recognition throughout his lifetime. By
escaping the harsh sharecropping industry, Jesse Owens embodied the vision of African American
freedom. Owens grew up poor; his family constantly had to scrap minimal amounts of nutrition to
survive while living in a small shack in the fields in Oakville, Alabama. Jesse s mother, Emma Owens,
believed that the family should look for a new life in the North and the family awaited their future
after a train ride to Cleveland, where Jesse would begin his case for superstardom (Schaap). At the
time of the Owens departure, blacks around the nation sought to engage in opportunities in the North
due to the fading success of the sharecropping industry. Growing out of this hardship, the Owens
family became recognized as nationwide icons and gave needed morale to the black community
whose individuals often found themselves struggling to leave the sharecropping industry. Although
Henry Owens was unable to find a steady employer, Jesse s

Great Expectations and The Go Between
Great Expectations and The Go Between Both Great Expectations and The Go Between concern
young men from lowly backgrounds who find themselves thrust into the world of the leisured classes
and are changed forever. What similarities and differences do you see between the ways in which the
two authors handle and develop this shared situation?
The reason why we have chosen to compare and contrast Great Expectations and The Go Between is
because they have many obvious and many subtle similarities which I am to discuss during t he course

The role of these two friends is different in that Herbert grows up with Pip and they are much closer
than Leo and Marcus. For example, Enough I saw my own feelings in Herbert s face, and, not least
among them my, repugnance towards the man who had done so much for me. This demonstrates how
Herbert has helped Pip and that he feels very close to him as he sees his own feelings in his face.
Throughout the Summer Leo is used as a playmate and someone to entertain Marcus so that he is kept
from bothering the adults, so in this way he is used. The relationship between Herbert and Pip is more
intimate, as they live together and help each other out. We also learn about them together as young
men not just as boys. The similarity between the two friends of Pip and Leo is that they teach both
boys a great deal about how the upper class live. In Great Expectations Herbert teaches Pip that you
can be a kind gentleman and don t have to be very rich. In contrast to this Marcus teaches Leo to
throw his clothes on the floor for the servants to pick up and to be a superficial gentleman.
The men that give the boys examples of how to be a gentleman are Drummle and Hugh. In Great
Expectations Dickens tries to show that there are two types of gentleman. Joe is the first example as

Journalistic Dishonesty In Dante s Inferno
In her popular translation of Dante s Inferno, English writer Dorothy Sayers explains that Bolgia 9 in
the eighth circle of hell is reserved for sowers of discord, those who are ready to rip up the whole
fabric of society to gratify a sectional egotism. If Dante had assigned fraudulent journalists a place in
hell melodramatic as it is to think about he probably would have put them in Bolgia 9. Any intentional
inaccuracy in a story is a betrayal of the public s trust and is inexcusable for a professional whose job
it is to report the truth; as Walter Lippmann once affirmed, There can be no higher law in journalism
than to tell the truth and to shame the devil. But just as Dante recognized in concocting his orderly
progression of torment that there are shades of wrongness, so too are some fraudulent stories are more
deserving of condemnation than others. Below, I will examine five cases of journalistic dishonesty
Janet Cooke s Jimmy s World in The Washington Post ( The Post ), Jayson Blair s reporting for The
New York Times ( The Times ), Mike Daisey s feature on This American Life ( TAL ), Sabrina Erdely
s A Rape on Campus in Rolling Stone Magazine (Rolling Stone), and Stephen Glass s stories for The
New Republic and argue that the offences in each vary in pervasiveness, level of duplicity, and impact
on society. I will then scrutinize the responses of each publisher, evaluating the timeliness and
approach of each.

last he loses everything which is important in his life due to this habit, but ironically he s still a happy

One film which is predominantly about the skill side of poker is a film called The Cincinnati Kid . It is
about poker and the levels of talent involved in such game play. The story takes after a character Eric
Stoner. Stoner is refered to as the kid which contrast with the best player who is know as the man.
Stoner tries to beat the best player in town so he can be the man.The film is basically about his persuit
to be the best and demonstrates the passion and the strain between the challengers. For this reason I
feel the Cincinnati Kid shows skill for poker and what it takes to be a winner.

The Four Humors And Their Influence Through Time
The Four Humors and Their Influence Through Time Greek Antiquity was a time of some of the
greatest minds of all time, such as Plato and Aristotle, leading to many inventions and ideas that are
still relevant today, from hydraulics to astronomy. One of the most influential realizations, however,
came from the mind of a man named Hippocrates, as he began the real start of the practice of
medicine. Hippocrates of Cos, a physician in ancient Greece, is considered to be the father of
medicine due to his many contributions to the field in his life. Through research and different
experiments he was able to conclude many different principles, including on of the most important:
the four humors. By observing reactions to different illnesses, sometimes leading the patient to die, he
was able to develop the theory. His theory of the four humors was that the human body was filled with
four basic substances, or humors, that when in balance indicate the person is healthy. If there was too
little or too much of one of the four, a disease or disability would result. The four humors of
Hippocratic medicine are black bile, yellow bile, blood, and phlegm. Before the humors were
introduced, many people believed that the source of illness was punishment from the Gods. It wasn t
until after Hippocrates introduction to medicine that the field stepped away from religion and into
science. The introduction of the four humors led to a continuing line of thought up until the nineteenth
century

play was originally written by William Gibson, and is a highlight of the young life of Helen Keller,
and how Anne Sullivan affected her for the better. Helen barely into her life, became deaf as well as

Saint Katharine Drexel Essay
Katharine once said, Christ wishes the Christian Community to be a body that is perfect because we
work together towards a single end, and the higher the motive which actuates this collaboration the
higher, no doubt, will be the union. Now the end in question is supremely exalted: the continuous
sanctification of the Body for the glory of God and the Lamb that was slain. (A Z Quotes). This quote
describes Katharine s way of working towards creating her orphanages and schools with her order.
Despite overcoming many difficulties in her earlier life, Saint Katharine Drexel created her own
religious order, donated generously to charities, and established schools to teach the faith the others;
consequently, she is one of the most dynamic missionary saints from America.
Saint Katharine Drexel was born in Philadelphia on November 26, 1858 to Hannah Langstroth and
Francis Anthony Drexel (Wallace). Hannah grew ill and later died on January 29, 1883. In February of
1885, her father became ill and later died from that illness (Wallace). After the death of her parents,

Of the nearly nine million people incarcerated worldwide, the United States houses over two million
inmates in its federal, state, and local facilities. While the goal of the judicial system is to enforce the
law and protect the people, it comes at a price to taxpaying citizens at approximately thirty nine billion
dollars annually. The purpose of this research is to clearly define the required expenditures of the
prison system, identify anomalies in court sentencing at the federal, state and local levels, and pinpoint
cost savings to reduce the financial burden to tax paying citizens.
The United States has the highest rate of imprisonment in the world and it has a direct effect on its
taxpaying citizens at nearly 39 billion dollars annually. There are six major categories of incarceration:
sexual assault, murder, robbery, assault, burglary, and drugs and of the nearly 2.3 million people in
American jails, about approximately half, were jailed for drug related charges. According to the
Department of Justice, that number has only dipped below fifty percent once in the last decade back in
2011. (Sledge, 2013). The Smarter Sentencing Act is legislature aimed at reducing

The History of the First Emperor of China
On March 29, 1974, a couple of workers were digging a water well on the east side of Mount Li
outside of the city of Xi an. The workers uncovered a single terracotta figure and called the
government authorities who investigated the matter. Soon, government archeologists were sent to the

Forty years later, we know a good deal about his legacy. Ying Zheng was born in 259 BCE to the King

Lack of historical records makes some historians question the association between the First Emperor
and the construction of the wall. What is certain, however, is that if the First Emperor gave the orders
to build the Great Wall, it was not built as we know it today. The walls would have been made of
stones or earth, depending on what was more readily available. The philosophies of the time included
Confucianism and Legalism, as simplified by modern scholar Arthur Waley in his book, Three Ways
of Thought in Ancient China. Confucianism was considered bad and impractical, based on the idea
that it was ruler based and hind sighted. The Legalists were considered good and practical because the
administrations they set up were run by qualified men, used agriculture to stimulate the economy, and
created clear laws. In fact, the First Emperor ordered the burning of several Confucius texts part of the
Five Classics including the Book of Poetry and the Book of Documents. This was knows as the

and philosophical texts. This was done because the emperor felt threatened by those below him with

The Pardoner And Summoner In The Canterbury Tales
The Relationship Between the Pardoner and Summoner
In The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, characters from medieval times are portrayed.
Two important characters discussed are the Pardoner and the Summoner. The Pardoner is a young man
who sells church pardons to those who have done wrong. The Summoner is responsible for issuing
summons which order people to appear in court. Due to the author s view of the church, the Pardoner
and Summoner s physical description, and the two men s actions, it is clear that the Pardoner and
Summoner are in a homosexual relationship.
The author of The Canterbury Tales expresses his views of the church through the characters he
chooses to portray. N.S. Thompson writes about the Pardoner and says, The Pardoner, who sells
indulgences for money on his own behalf (Chaucer, Geoffrey 54). The Pardoner lacks respect for the
people who come to him for indulgences. He is concerned about his own wealth instead of helping
others receive forgiveness. Thompson then describes the Summoner as, A man who knows all the
secrets of his parish and is in a position to take bribes and other gifts (Thompson, The Canterbury
Tales 45). The Summoner is only interested in receiving money and gifts from ... Show more content

Psychotherapy
After a client is diagnosed with DID, psychotherapy can be used to ultimately integrate all of the
personalities into one. Psychotherapy is the procedure by which the patient himself with the doctor s
help comes to see his problems more realistically (Lang, 1958) . Psychotherapy is considered the
ground work of treating mental illness.
The treatment of multiple personality disorder began with what was better known as the treatment for
hysteria. One of the earliest, and most widely known cases (in terms of being beneficial to the study of
treatment), is the case of Sybil Isabel Dorsett. Sybil was diagnosed to have 16 different personalities,
which resulted from severe physical and sexual abuse. Her therapist, and one of the pioneer clinicians

Along with psychotherapy, hypnosis is commonly still used. Through the use of hypnosis, the
therapist is able to help the client reduce feelings of fear, while nurturing the dissociated feelings that
they may be experiencing. When treating patients with DID, it can be expected to spend a good
amount of time exploring the different personalities, along with the roles that each personality plays. It
is important that the cooperation of each personality within the individual is present. Psychotherapy,
which is also known as talk therapy or counseling, involves extensive communication between the
client and the therapist. The therapist, by gaining trust is able to get the patient to open up and expose
the experiences that may be the root of the problem. By doing so, the therapist may ultimately be able
to help the client work through the traumatic experience and any other conflict that may be the
underlying cause of the illness. Once the therapist is able to discover the root of the illness, the client
and therapist can work together to fuse the personalities into one. Once the fusion takes place, that
does not mean the therapy is over with. Maintaining the fusion is also necessary. Another alternative
treatment method, that is typically only prescribed if absolutely necessary, involves medications.
Although there is no clear link on which drugs specifically treat DID, it is recommended that drugs
that treat acute mood disorders, such as anxiety and/or depression, are commonly prescribed to
patients. If medicine is prescribed, the therapist should keep a close eye and monitor the

The Management System Of An Organization
Introduction In recent years, a lot of organizations have emphasized more on efficiency and
effectiveness due to higher rate of competition in the industry. This shift in focus is meant to allow
organization to deliver the best in class product and service by improving the key performance metrics
(Institute for Operation Excellence, 2012). Operation excellence focuses on the entire area of an
organization. The area of focus can be broken down into 3, behavior, management system, and
process. For any change to be sustainable, the people s behavior has to be such that can support it.
People s behavior and mindset has to change, everybody has to contribute regardless of what level of
organization. The management system piece is also a key because of the impact of management
support that is needed to promote operation excellence within an organization. Process is where it
directly impacts the product. It has to be improved to meet a best in class standard, either by line
balancing, implementing a lean flow, or by other form of improvement (Duggan, 2011). Every
employee involved should be able to see the value flow from the organization to the customer and vice
versa. Some industries struggle in their implementation of operation excellence. For a successful
implementation, there has to be a right definition, one that every employee at every level of the
organization understand what it means and how their role impacts it. As much as operation excellence
shows a lot of positive

Cultural Beliefs In Cash Pot
Jamaican Cultural Belief : Cash Pot Man / Drop Pan
Myth: Cash Pot is a form of lottery in Jamaica it is extremely popular, it has even been incorporated
into everyday language. The idea of cash pot or drop pan depending on who is speaking is that
everything in life has a number, there are 36 numbers and they all represent several things. The game
came to Jamaica through Chinese immigrants, since Jamaica has a very large Chinese population. The
reason why Cash Pot has been so popular in Jamaican culture and the reason why it won t go
anywhere anytime soon is because of its significance to everyday life. Many Cash Pot addicts believe
that Cash Pot predicts the future and can be used to analyze the past, any one skilled enough to read
the symbols and predict the winning number is often considered almost witch like. This person is
usually good at interpreting dreams and can tell you what to do if something bad is coming your way.
How Cash Pot works is you can bet any amount of money starting from JA$10 on any one number
between the numbers 1 and 36 and win several times what you bet. If you bet JA$100 you can win
JA$2500 (Jamaica My Way. 2017).
For example let s say you got into an argument with your grandmother, you can play number 36,
which represents old lady, you can also play 21, which means bad girl and that would represent
yourself. You may not win but maybe a week from today a relative abroad sends you money and you

What Is The Thesis Of The Confessions Of Nat Turner
1. The race riots of the 1960 s was a time of civil unrest caused by ill treatment of any people of color,
and lead to many protests demanding civil rights, which eventually lead to Civil Rights act being
passed in 1964 and similar acts being passed later. Following the riots in 1967 the Kerner commission
was established with the sole purpose of investigating the reason behind the Race War and make
recommendations for future occasions. What they discovered was that people of color were outraged
by the lack of opportunity. To put it simply: what makes them (white people) better than me (people of
color), the same basis of Nat Turner s rebellion. This caused Nat to be an idol in the eyes of the african
american community that was fighting oppression at the time.
Another event following the race riots of the 60 s was the publication of america s most controversial
pieces of literature. The Confessions of Nat Turner was written in 1967 by William Styron and, as it
name details, it is about the idol of equality himself: Nat Turner. Although it sounds like it from the
title this book wasn t a biography of Nat Turner as it detailed Nat s inner thoughts and desires; The
Confessions of Nat Turner was more accurately described as Historical Novel ―or a fictionalized
story that is based of true historic events―and was not to taken as fact. However, this did not stop the
outrage over depictions of Nat in the Novel, more specifically the way that the story was told through

The Conscious Mind Analysis
Throughout the opening examples presented in Miller s essay, the conscious mind is typically
observed inadvertently, usually as a byproduct of attempting socioeconomic and political gains and
typically through some form of pseudoscience as its medium. However, as the essay progresses and
the time frame the examples take place within advances the conscious mind begins to be observed
both intentionally and in ways more closely resembling the principles of modern science. For instance,

Mesmer s work was severely clouded by his subjective beliefs, which make his studies more of
exercises in self indulgence than scientific process. Much of the same can be observed for the works
of Elliotson, Baron Dupotet and Braid, as they also succumbed to desire for personal gain from their
work building and maintaining popular private practices despite their scientific faults, with Elliotson
specifically being described as enjoying a prosperous professional life with a wide circle of admiring
and affectionate friends, (12). It should be noted, though, that their respective work did contribute as
portions of a base for future scientists to work from. Their successors, the likes of Carpenter, Laycock
and Hall, were able to find pieces of the work that could be investigated such as the state of
individuals while experiencing a trance and develop those aspects into more scientific queries. Thus
the evolution of the study of consciousness can be observed in the essay. The development over time
of theories of consciousness is similar to the development of theoretically accepted models of the
atom. From Dalton s Billiard Ball model, to Rutherford s nucleus as a result of his gold foil
experiments, to Schrödinger s electron cloud model and beyond, several different scientists built upon
each others work to develop the models used and accepted

Amazon Mechanical Turk And Idea Storm
Introduction
Crowdsourcing is a new tool that has gradually modified and replaced some ineffective original ways.
Based on the research and development on crowdsourcing, more and more new applications appear.
This paper singled out two distinctive crowdsourcing applications from numbers of emerging
applications, idea generation and Microtasking. Two examples, Amazon Mechanical Turk and Idea
Storm are selected in order to understand the role of these two applications in real life. Moreover,
comparison of these two cases are conducted, this allows readers have more comprehensive
understanding of crowdsourcing and different roles in different applications.

By completing or participating these tasks, individuals could get jobs, financial rewards, knowledge or
experience.(2012)This definition will be further confirmed in following discussion on application
examples.
As mentioned in many literature, crowdsourcing can be used in many approaches, such as idea
generation. Creation, development and idea exchanges are very abstracted; idea generation includes
the construction of ideas, innovative ideas, development process and implementation the idea into
reality. There are two ways of Idea generation through crowdsourcing, idea competition and ideation
with collective intelligence (Moketer Hossain). Idea competition is company asks many people to
contribute new ideas for the company through crowdsourcing, company will choose the best one and
reward to the person. Ideation with collective intelligence refers to ideation with continuous
interactions between firms and crowds. Like Poetz and Schreier (2012) said, idea come from crowds
sometimes far beyond the company can think. Also as Surowiecki (2005) mentioned, the collective
efforts from a number of innovative individuals often better than rely on some experts.
Microtasking is a process that split a large task into many small tasks and publishes on the Internet.
Microtasking is defined as the system that users can choose and complete small tasks with or without
monetary rewards (Kittur, 2008). The birth of microtasking allows any person make

Gargantua And Pantagruel
Through numerous fruitless consulting of authority, the figure of authority is depicted as unhelpful,
ignorant and self centered in the second half of the third book of Rabelais Gargantua and Pantagruel.
Montaigne not only indicates similar possible problems of the authority as Rabelais does, but also
provides corresponding solutions to such problems in his On Educating Children. I will argue that,
basing on Montaigne s solutions, one can convert unhelpful, ignorant and self centered authorities in
Gargantua and Pantagruel into ones that are so beneficial and significant that can effectively promote
learning. Rabelais holds a totally critical and satirical attitude towards the contribution of authority to
learning, but Montaigne, on the opposite, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first book of Gargantua and Pantagruel, Rabelais takes the whole eleventh chapters to show not
only the naughty but also the unmannered and disrespectful behaviors of childhood Gargantua, for
instance, often spat in the collection plate (Gargantua and Pantagruel, Rabelais, p.31); it is also said
Gargantua grew and was taught all the proper discipline, by his farther (Gargantua and Pantagruel,
Rabelais, p.31), which is certainly an irony. Gargantua s Father is a form of authority to his Gargantua,
but the identity of the parent determines the existence of spoiling, which is detrimental to the
development and growth of the children. Montaigne also suggests that parents spoiling will slow down
the process of learning especially individual s physical and mental development. (The Essays: A
Selection, Montaigne, p.43). Just as he does in the previous example, Montaigne provides the solution,
that the authority of the tutor, which must be sovereign for the boy, is hampered and interrupted by the
presence of his parents. (The Essays: A Selection, Montaigne, p.47). Montaigne s solution is to put the
authority of tutor over the authority of

Values Of Solidarity And Tolerance Towards Immigration
values of solidarity and tolerance towards immigration, as proved by the deliberate media
overrepresentation of a number of recurrent tropes.
The key idea is that such celebratory rhetorics on the perks of multiculturalism, though, were not
entirely successful at hiding the existence of a notable social base advocating xenophobic values and
violent actions against immigrants (more than 100,000 Moroccan immigrants had settled in Spain by
The economic prosperity of Spain between 1997 and 2007, together with a strong recession back
home, motivated the biggest flow of Maghrebian immigration into the country in recent history (e.g
the Moroccan population alone went from 173,000 inhabitants in 2000 to 783,000 in 2012 [Actis,

Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures Essay
Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures
The variable that I will change will be the temperature of the water that the Alka Seltzer is put in.
For my results I will measure the time taken for the Alka seltzer tablet to completely dissolve in water
at different temperatures.
Input variables:
* Varying surface area of Alka Seltzer tablet, i.e. if cut into smaller pieces or crushed it will increase
the surface area. (If the surface area is increased (more powdered) the rate of reaction also increases.
This means that there are more collisions between the solid and liquid.)
* Amount of tap water H2O used, i.e. volume (ml).
* Amount of Alka Seltzer tablets used, i.e. quantity of tablets.
(one is used)
* ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* As pH decreases, acidity in solution is high. This makes H+ ions in solution readily available for
HCO3 ions in the tablets, hence making it fizz quickly forming carbon dioxide and water. So as pH
decreases, the rate of reaction increases as well.
Preliminary Work:
I did this preliminary work using the following apparatus. The results obtained are tabulated below:
Apparatus:
· 300ml beaker
· Tap water
· Alka Seltzer Tablets
· Thermometer
· Bunsen Burner
· Tripod
· Heat mat
· Gauze
· Goggles
Method:
· I set up the apparatus as shown in the diagram. I then placed a thermometer into the beaker which I
already filled with 150ml of water. I then set the water to the required temperature by heating it
(although I did not have to do this for the first temperature which was 20°C, where I just kept the
water as it was without heating it).
When the water reached the required temperature I placed an alka seltzer tablet into it, and as I did so I
started the timer. When Alka seltzer tablet dissolved (just until the actual tablet was not visible
anymore, even though there was still some white scum in the water) I stopped timing and wrote down

Comparing Prometheus And Frankenstein
Prometheus is a titan in the ancient greek mythology known for creating mankind. Said to be the
wisest of all Titans of Olympus, Prometheus was a god among gods. Wanting to bring knowledge and
enlightenment to his creation, Prometheus stole godly fire from the sacred Mount Olympus to bring to
mankind, until he was caught and brutally punished for his actions. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein is
believed to have been a work inspired by the myth of Prometheus, it is even given an alternate title
The Modern Prometheus. Various aspects and elements of the story of Prometheus are present in

The yearning to seek enlightenment and power leading to consequential fate is a theme very imminent
and evident in both storylines. In the myth of Prometheus, Prometheus was hungry for power when he
played god in creating mankind, he seeked to enlighten his creation, which would increase his power,
by attempting to steal fire from Mount Olympus. His actions resulted in an eternal punishment of
having his recurring liver eaten out by eagles everyday. Victor Frankenstein, although being curious
and seeking knowledge and enlightenment, played his hand at god in creating a humanoid and
bringing it to life. Albeit a scientific breakthrough, Victor s curiosity and desire to learn more brought
up negative consequences in the form of his creation committing evil acts and harming society. Due to
conflict between Victor and his monster, the monster murdered many innocent people, many of which
were friends and family of Victor s, and wreaked havoc in Victor s life, bringing upon him depression,
illness, constant fear, guilt and eventually death. These scenarios seem very familiar and prove the

Dostoevsky Compare Contrast Essay
Renowned Russian Writers, Yevgeny Zamyatin and Fyodor Dostoevsky, implement the same ideas of
a dystopian society in their novels We and Brothers Karamazov. The two disturbing societies have a
profound effect on all characters, which creates different reactions from the protagonists of each
novel, D 503 and Ivan. Zamyatin introduces a dominating society in We, that forces views upon its
vulnerable people who are not emotionally stable enough to acknowledge their own lack of power and
freedom. Dostoevsky, author of Brothers Karamazov, specifically presents a character s intricate,
fictional story of the Grand Inquisitor that explains how God created a problem by the choices he
made, allowing the church to be influenced by the devil while also making the simulated society
accept control by the upper class. Although the Grand Inquisitor was a fictional story made up by the
main character, Ivan allows the fake ideas to consume his mind, altering how he sees the real world.

Little Red Riding Hood And Wolf Comparison
Introduction:
The Grimm Brothers Little Red Riding Hood (1857), and Roald Dahl s contemporary spin on the well
known fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf (1982), both endeavored to shape the meaning
of the traditional fairy tale. Although Dahl relies on an audience familiar with the original fable to
appreciate his alterations, both texts are aimed towards a target audience of children. Through
comparison of the two differing versions, connections will be identified. Similarities and differences
in relation to form, purpose and language will be explained; and subsequently, how these similarities
and differences impact the target audience.
Form:
Encapsulating the traditional fairy tale structure, Grimm s tale is presented in the form of a narrative,
featuring a clear introduction, plot, and resolution. Grimm preserves the phrase symbolic to traditional
fairy tales, once upon a time , introducing the audience to a familiar world of fantasy. The events
unfold through a chronological sequence: After that the aged grandmother , Then all three were
delighted and Soon afterwards the wolf knocked , followed by informative sentences: the door sprang
open, and without saying a word he went straight to the grandmother s bed, and devoured her ,
complimenting Grimm s formal and instructive intentions, embellishing and providing the audience
with a sound understanding. Grimm embraces the use of a third person voice to gain authority of the
audience, and sufficiently sculpts each character into their conventional protagonist and antagonist
roles: Little Red Riding Hood as a dear little girl and wolf as wicked creature .
Dahl offers a significantly different interpretation, transforming the traditional folk tale into a poem.
The consistent use of rhyme and rhythm appeals to the audience, allowing smooth transition and flow
between sequences. The several stanzas composing the poem feature short sentences which add
clarity; eventually compacting at the final plot twist, The small girl smiles. One eyelid flickers , to
represent an acceleration in pace and create audience suspension. Dahl also begins his version with the
wolf a perspective not usually seen to ensure the audience identifies with the wolf.

St. Bernard Of Clairvaux s Man Of Sorrows
After examining the passages written by earlier Church writers, one could see that the picture of Christ
as the Man of Sorrows, relating to St. Bernard of Clairvaux s excerpt, would not pair well with the
earlier Church writers excerpts. Bernard of Clairvaux s view on Christ takes on a tone favoring
Christocentric and affective spirituality, emphasizing Christ s Passion and death and taking relation
into it as he writes where Christ s suffering with the piercing nail has become a key to unlock the door,
that [he] may see the good will of the Lord (CP3 22), seeing Christ s human body as a way to relate to
and feel peace within Him, and pairing well with the image of Jesus Christ, deceased and bloodied, in
his mother s arms. Other writers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although not as prominent again as inferring the stance Ignatius has on Christ the Victor soteriology,
some parts of his writings focus on the Passion and sufferings of the Incarnation, particularly the end
of his Letter to the Romans, where he speaks of himself not on fire with the love of earthly things, but
there is in me a Living Water... Bread of God is what I desire; that is, the Flesh of Jesus Christ, who
was the seed of David; and for my drink I desire His Blood, that is, incorruptible love (CP3 6).
Bernard, likewise, although not as figuratively as Ignatius describes his yearnings, writes that through
the Incarnation s suffering on the Cross, after being pierced, Bernard wishes that [t]hrough the
openings of these wounds I may drink from the rock and oil from the hardest stone: that is, I may taste
and see that the Lord is sweet (CP3 22). In final, the Man of Sorrows image would not pair well
overall with the writings of the earlier Fathers in comparison to St. Bernard of Clairvaux, as they take
on the focus of Christ as a majestic hero, triumphing over sin by His death and Ressurection and
Christocentric and affective spirituality,

How Did The Spanish American War Cause Ww2
During his presidency William McKinley said, War should never be entered upon until every agency
of peace has failed. His message never fully reached the American people because in the late 19th
century the people were longing for an opportunity to keep up with other empires and they took the
first chance they approached. They saw war with Spain as a quick way to prove supremacy and saw
plenty of benefits. The Spanish American war was inevitable for America because the people had a
strong drive for global power and influence and although it was not completely necessary it resulted in
positive outcomes and later greatly helped progress the country. Conflicts between America and the

Americans were caught up in ideas to develop global dominance and when they heard about the
tribulations that Spain was causing they used it to take action and start a war that they could easily win
and gain veneration and intimidation from. The Spanish American war was one of the shortest wars in
American history but it changed the fate and global status of America forever. After the sinking of the
battleship in Havana, McKinley was still reluctant to use harsh force against Spain even though he
received pressure from newspapers including New York Journal calling him weak and a petty
politician for not yet getting involved. On April 9, 1898 congress officially gave the president power
to order troops into Cuba. Theodore Roosevelt was the Secretary of the Navy and a highly regarded
member of the government, his encouragement to start the war greatly influenced the president and he
too changed history. Later in the month of April McKinley went to congress asking for permission to
declare war on Spain because they had refused to recall troops from harming Cubans, but before
congress could respond Spain had already declared war on America. President McKinley s first
military action was to blockade Cuba from Spanish ships and the war official began on April 25, 1898.

Changing Structure of Watch Industry
SWISS WATCH MARKET
In 1970s the Swiss industry produced around 75 million units per year as compared to 25 million units
in 1940s.
Since 1966, when the Swiss Government s restriction on sale and acquisition of watch companies
lapsed, the industry experienced a crescendo of mergers, bringing down the number of firms to around
1000.
In 1971, ASUAG , the super trust combined the assembling firms selling seven different brands into
the General Watch Holding Company. This move forged important new financial and managerial links
between the component manufacturing and assembling sectors of the watch industry.

manufacturing industry. In fact, only two U.S. watch companies, Bulova and Timex, were involved in
any domestic watch production.
Since the beginning, U.S. companies have struggled to cope with the labour requirements of
watchmaking.
Some U.S. watch sellers never tried; from the start imported finished watches or movements and
simply put them in watch cases here. Other firms tackled the problem by locating at least part of their
production overseas. Bulova and Gruen, for example, established their own manufacturing plants in
Switzerland in the early years of the 1980s.
After the Second World, jeweled lever watches dominated the U.S. market.
Then during the 1950s and early 1960s the situation changed drastically. Timex first stormed the low
price end of the watch market and later moved up into the middle price range. At the same time
marginal Swiss producers flooded the U.S. market with inexpensive pin lever and jeweled lever
watches making price competition all the more severe.
In 1960s the Japanese began to carve out their piece of the U.S. market. On top of this, the mass
merchandising revolution of the 1950s threw the traditional watch distribution system, sales through
jewelers and fine department stores, into chaos. To survive in a market dominated by price
competition, one after another U.S. watch company gave up on domestic watch manufacturing until,
by 1970 there were only two survivors Bulova and Timex.

One of the biggest agendas of Achebe in writing this novel is to present the point of view of the tribal
Africans. The presence of the Christian missionaries prove this point and Achebe recognized this
problem and how it essentially wiped out the true culture and tradition of the Igbo. He wanted to
display the real problems and lives of the Igbo society without any outside influence. Another
important theme that is conveyed is that being too strict or ambitious with our children cautions us to
behave with prudence as opposed to emotion. Throughout the book, Okonkwo lives by emotion and
his only goal is to come off as a strong fighter. His strict attitude towards Nwoye only causes him to
act against Okonkwo s choice and join the Christian missionaries. Achebe shows that we should be
flexible and raise our kids with judgement and leniency, because if we rule by emotion, it can lead to
our downfall. (As seen in both Okonkwo and

Evaluation Of A Safety Management System Essay
AVN 1106 Major Assignment

Date of Submission 16/09/2016
Abstract:
With the expectation from CASA for newly established flight operations to design and implement a
Safety Management System (SMS) the task has been set to do so for an airline with 12 regional
aircraft and 200 employees. The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety
operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it
solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main
components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each of
these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline.
Introduction:
With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety standards
which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The balance
between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in place to
ensure production is not outweighing protection.
Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the
standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry. This can be done through the
implementation of an SMS as well as by revising and enhancing

  • 5. Why Was Lévi-Strauss Still Relevant Today In this essay I will discuss why I believe that Claude Lévi Strauss work is still relevant today and I will focus on the role that he assigns to the social anthropologist. Claude Lévi Strauss was the most influential anthropologist theorist in France. His work which he contributed to anthropology still remains to have significant relevance in todays contemporary anthropology. He was born on the 28th of November 1908 and passed away on the 30th of October 2009. I will discuss his theory and what he argued for and against. Anthropologists like Durkheim, De Saussure, Simiand, Rousseau, Jakobson and Mauss and many more influenced Lévi Strauss when it came to his work. First I would like to explain the term anthropology according to (Lévi Strauss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lévi Strauss discusses kinship, which in todays society is still very clear and important. Firstly when anthropologists discuss kinship they are concerned with social behaviours and not biological facts and the two sets of data are often so widely discrepant that it is often convenient to discuss kinship without any reference to biology (Leach, 1973: 96). We have to break down kinship terms into individual systems in order to see what relationship they have. Even though it states that kinship does not have to do with biology there has to be link as it is obvious that a child is related to their mother just like she is to her sister. Lévi Strauss is interested in in the systems and not as much with terms of kinship. He looks at the ties by which people are related, rather this be through siblingship and/or affinal relationships. In society in order for a child to be seen as a legitimate child they need to have two parents who are married. Society does not judge this opinion on the relationship between the child and his/her parents but on the relationship between the parents themselves. This extremity has faded into the background for the most part in the contemporary society but is still around in some cases as everyone is always interested in your family dynamic. The way in which people are related is still of great importance. Lévi Strauss does not look at the basic relationships for example mother/daughter and husband/wife, but he looks at the more complicated types of relationships such as the contrast between father/son and mother s brother/sister s son. According to Lévi Strauss in order for a kinship structure to exist three types of family relations must always be present: a relation of consanguinity, a relation of affinity and a relation of descent. • 6. The World War I And The Soviet Union The intermission between the two world wars was fraught with the rise of militaristic, dictatorial factions in Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, and the Soviet Union. By the time the Olympic torch was lit in Berlin in 1936, all of these nations were either firmly under the grasp of an authoritarian regime or engaged in a civil war destined to be quickly dominated by a fascist party. In response to both the advance of authoritarianism abroad and the horrors of World War I, the United States more ambitiously pursued isolationism as the solution to international affairs. As the country focused more on domestic issues because of both the swelling isolationist sentiment and eventually the Great Depression, the racial boundaries created by the ... In the 1936 Summer Olympic games in Berlin, Jesse Owens sizably undermined the idealism of Aryan dominance, carrying the African American community to an unprecedented level of honor. The American icon was able to successfully alter racial tensions by growing out of the sharecropping industry, creating new opportunities for blacks in sports, shattering world records and German hopes, bringing honor to the black community, and receiving national recognition throughout his lifetime. By escaping the harsh sharecropping industry, Jesse Owens embodied the vision of African American freedom. Owens grew up poor; his family constantly had to scrap minimal amounts of nutrition to survive while living in a small shack in the fields in Oakville, Alabama. Jesse s mother, Emma Owens, believed that the family should look for a new life in the North and the family awaited their future after a train ride to Cleveland, where Jesse would begin his case for superstardom (Schaap). At the time of the Owens departure, blacks around the nation sought to engage in opportunities in the North due to the fading success of the sharecropping industry. Growing out of this hardship, the Owens family became recognized as nationwide icons and gave needed morale to the black community whose individuals often found themselves struggling to leave the sharecropping industry. This demonstrates how Herbert has helped Pip and that he feels very close to him as he sees his own feelings in his face. Throughout the Summer Leo is used as a playmate and someone to entertain Marcus so that he is kept from bothering the adults, so in this way he is used. The relationship between Herbert and Pip is more intimate, as they live together and help each other out. We also learn about them together as young men not just as boys. The similarity between the two friends of Pip and Leo is that they teach both boys a great deal about how the upper class live. In Great Expectations Herbert teaches Pip that you can be a kind gentleman and don t have to be very rich. In contrast to this Marcus teaches Leo to throw his clothes on the floor for the servants to pick up and to be a superficial gentleman. • 8. Journalistic Dishonesty In Dante s Inferno In her popular translation of Dante s Inferno, English writer Dorothy Sayers explains that Bolgia 9 in the eighth circle of hell is reserved for sowers of discord, those who are ready to rip up the whole fabric of society to gratify a sectional egotism. If Dante had assigned fraudulent journalists a place in hell melodramatic as it is to think about he probably would have put them in Bolgia 9. Any intentional inaccuracy in a story is a betrayal of the public s trust and is inexcusable for a professional whose job it is to report the truth; as Walter Lippmann once affirmed, There can be no higher law in journalism than to tell the truth and to shame the devil. But just as Dante recognized in concocting his orderly progression of torment that there are shades of wrongness, so too are some fraudulent stories are more deserving of condemnation than others. Below, I will examine five cases of journalistic dishonesty Janet Cooke s Jimmy s World in The Washington Post ( The Post ), Jayson Blair s reporting for The New York Times ( The Times ), Mike Daisey s feature on This American Life ( TAL ), Sabrina Erdely s A Rape on Campus in Rolling Stone Magazine (Rolling Stone), and Stephen Glass s stories for The New Republic and argue that the offences in each vary in pervasiveness, level of duplicity, and impact on society. The Four Humors And Their Influence Through Time The Four Humors and Their Influence Through Time Greek Antiquity was a time of some of the greatest minds of all time, such as Plato and Aristotle, leading to many inventions and ideas that are still relevant today, from hydraulics to astronomy. One of the most influential realizations, however, came from the mind of a man named Hippocrates, as he began the real start of the practice of medicine. Hippocrates of Cos, a physician in ancient Greece, is considered to be the father of medicine due to his many contributions to the field in his life. Through research and different experiments he was able to conclude many different principles, including on of the most important: the four humors. By observing reactions to different illnesses, sometimes leading the patient to die, he was able to develop the theory. His theory of the four humors was that the human body was filled with four basic substances, or humors, that when in balance indicate the person is healthy. If there was too little or too much of one of the four, a disease or disability would result. The four humors of Hippocratic medicine are black bile, yellow bile, blood, and phlegm. Before the humors were introduced, many people believed that the source of illness was punishment from the Gods. Two important characters discussed are the Pardoner and the Summoner. The Pardoner is a young man who sells church pardons to those who have done wrong. The Summoner is responsible for issuing summons which order people to appear in court. It is important that the cooperation of each personality within the individual is present. Psychotherapy, which is also known as talk therapy or counseling, involves extensive communication between the client and the therapist. The therapist, by gaining trust is able to get the patient to open up and expose the experiences that may be the root of the problem. By doing so, the therapist may ultimately be able to help the client work through the traumatic experience and any other conflict that may be the underlying cause of the illness. Once the therapist is able to discover the root of the illness, the client and therapist can work together to fuse the personalities into one. Once the fusion takes place, that does not mean the therapy is over with. Maintaining the fusion is also necessary. The Management System Of An Organization Introduction In recent years, a lot of organizations have emphasized more on efficiency and effectiveness due to higher rate of competition in the industry. This shift in focus is meant to allow organization to deliver the best in class product and service by improving the key performance metrics (Institute for Operation Excellence, 2012). Operation excellence focuses on the entire area of an organization. The area of focus can be broken down into 3, behavior, management system, and process. For any change to be sustainable, the people s behavior has to be such that can support it. People s behavior and mindset has to change, everybody has to contribute regardless of what level of organization. The management system piece is also a key because of the impact of management support that is needed to promote operation excellence within an organization. Process is where it directly impacts the product. It has to be improved to meet a best in class standard, either by line balancing, implementing a lean flow, or by other form of improvement (Duggan, 2011). The race riots of the 1960 s was a time of civil unrest caused by ill treatment of any people of color, and lead to many protests demanding civil rights, which eventually lead to Civil Rights act being passed in 1964 and similar acts being passed later. Following the riots in 1967 the Kerner commission was established with the sole purpose of investigating the reason behind the Race War and make recommendations for future occasions. What they discovered was that people of color were outraged by the lack of opportunity. To put it simply: what makes them (white people) better than me (people of color), the same basis of Nat Turner s rebellion. This caused Nat to be an idol in the eyes of the african american community that was fighting oppression at the time. Values Of Solidarity And Tolerance Towards Immigration values of solidarity and tolerance towards immigration, as proved by the deliberate media overrepresentation of a number of recurrent tropes. The key idea is that such celebratory rhetorics on the perks of multiculturalism, though, were not entirely successful at hiding the existence of a notable social base advocating xenophobic values and violent actions against immigrants (more than 100,000 Moroccan immigrants had settled in Spain by the end of the nineties): todo permite suponer que la inmensa mayoría de la población no asimila, no comprende, no comparte, o acepta de mala gana, valores tales como la solidaridad o la tolerancia. Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures Essay Alka Seltzer Dissolving at Different Temperatures The variable that I will change will be the temperature of the water that the Alka Seltzer is put in. For my results I will measure the time taken for the Alka seltzer tablet to completely dissolve in water at different temperatures. Input variables: * Varying surface area of Alka Seltzer tablet, i.e. if cut into smaller pieces or crushed it will increase the surface area. (If the surface area is increased (more powdered) the rate of reaction also increases. His actions resulted in an eternal punishment of having his recurring liver eaten out by eagles everyday. Victor Frankenstein, although being curious and seeking knowledge and enlightenment, played his hand at god in creating a humanoid and bringing it to life. Albeit a scientific breakthrough, Victor s curiosity and desire to learn more brought up negative consequences in the form of his creation committing evil acts and harming society. • 29. Dostoevsky Compare Contrast Essay Renowned Russian Writers, Yevgeny Zamyatin and Fyodor Dostoevsky, implement the same ideas of a dystopian society in their novels We and Brothers Karamazov. The two disturbing societies have a profound effect on all characters, which creates different reactions from the protagonists of each novel, D 503 and Ivan. Zamyatin introduces a dominating society in We, that forces views upon its vulnerable people who are not emotionally stable enough to acknowledge their own lack of power and freedom. Dostoevsky, author of Brothers Karamazov, specifically presents a character s intricate, fictional story of the Grand Inquisitor that explains how God created a problem by the choices he made, allowing the church to be influenced by the devil while also making the simulated society accept control by the upper class. • 32. Little Red Riding Hood And Wolf Comparison Introduction: The Grimm Brothers Little Red Riding Hood (1857), and Roald Dahl s contemporary spin on the well known fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf (1982), both endeavored to shape the meaning of the traditional fairy tale. Although Dahl relies on an audience familiar with the original fable to appreciate his alterations, both texts are aimed towards a target audience of children. Through comparison of the two differing versions, connections will be identified. Similarities and differences in relation to form, purpose and language will be explained; and subsequently, how these similarities and differences impact the target audience. Form: Encapsulating the traditional fairy tale structure, Grimm s tale is presented in the form of a narrative, featuring a clear introduction, plot, and resolution. Grimm preserves the phrase symbolic to traditional fairy tales, once upon a time , introducing the audience to a familiar world of fantasy. The events unfold through a chronological sequence: After that the aged grandmother , Then all three were delighted and Soon afterwards the wolf knocked , followed by informative sentences: the door sprang open, and without saying a word he went straight to the grandmother s bed, and devoured her , complimenting Grimm s formal and instructive intentions, embellishing and providing the audience with a sound understanding. Grimm embraces the use of a third person voice to gain authority of the audience, and sufficiently sculpts each character into their conventional protagonist and antagonist roles: Little Red Riding Hood as a dear little girl and wolf as wicked creature . Dahl offers a significantly different interpretation, transforming the traditional folk tale into a poem. The consistent use of rhyme and rhythm appeals to the audience, allowing smooth transition and flow between sequences. The several stanzas composing the poem feature short sentences which add clarity; eventually compacting at the final plot twist, The small girl smiles. One eyelid flickers , to represent an acceleration in pace and create audience suspension. Dahl also begins his version with the wolf a perspective not usually seen to ensure the audience identifies with the wolf. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bernard of Clairvaux s view on Christ takes on a tone favoring Christocentric and affective spirituality, emphasizing Christ s Passion and death and taking relation into it as he writes where Christ s suffering with the piercing nail has become a key to unlock the door, that [he] may see the good will of the Lord (CP3 22), seeing Christ s human body as a way to relate to and feel peace within Him, and pairing well with the image of Jesus Christ, deceased and bloodied, in his mother s arms. In fact, only two U.S. watch companies, Bulova and Timex, were involved in any domestic watch production. Since the beginning, U.S. companies have struggled to cope with the labour requirements of watchmaking. Some U.S. watch sellers never tried; from the start imported finished watches or movements and simply put them in watch cases here. Other firms tackled the problem by locating at least part of their production overseas. Bulova and Gruen, for example, established their own manufacturing plants in Switzerland in the early years of the 1980s. After the Second World, jeweled lever watches dominated the U.S. market. Then during the 1950s and early 1960s the situation changed drastically. Timex first stormed the low price end of the watch market and later moved up into the middle price range. At the same time marginal Swiss producers flooded the U.S. market with inexpensive pin lever and jeweled lever watches making price competition all the more severe. In 1960s the Japanese began to carve out their piece of the U.S. market. Social/Political/Philosophical Agendas or Issues Being Dealt with by the Author(Themes) One of the biggest agendas of Achebe in writing this novel is to present the point of view of the tribal Africans. His strict attitude towards Nwoye only causes him to act against Okonkwo s choice and join the Christian missionaries. Evaluation Of A Safety Management System Essay AVN 1106 Major Assignment Lincoln Wilkins U1086146 Date of Submission 16/09/2016 Abstract: With the expectation from CASA for newly established flight operations to design and implement a Safety Management System (SMS) the task has been set to do so for an airline with 12 regional aircraft and 200 employees. The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each of these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline. Introduction: With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety standards which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The balance between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in place to ensure production is not outweighing protection. Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry. This can be done through the implementation of an SMS as well as by revising and enhancing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
