The Importance of Literature
Students around the world are enrolled in literature courses, either as part of an academic
requirement, or sometimes just for leisure. Regardless of what the situation may be, these days in
our current generation, life is too complicated, too distracted, and too fast. In large part, I would
say that this is because of technology. Technology is an extremely valuable instrument today, one
that lets us keep in touch with family and friends, but one that at times may prevent us as humans
from looking at ourselves too deeply, keeping us from going to the place we don t want to go. Too
much involvement with technology can also impede on our ability to think, especially ... Show more

express that the color of skin does not matter, but we are able to learn from other characters in the
story that through courage and a strong sense of determination, goals are achievable. The story
How It Feels to Be Colored Me is just one story that portrays such emotions. Additionally, this
story is very inspirational because despite having lived in a society where color mattered, Zora

3. What Is The Turning Point Of 12 Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men is a very good movie and had a lot of ups and downs throughout the movie.
Yes, I think it took a great deal of courage for Fonda to vote not guilty. First, everyone thought he
was guilty without discussing and just jumping to a conclusion. Fonda actually wanted to give
some thought to it and discuss why the kid deserved a chance and why he might not be guilty.
Also, the mood in the room was very dark when all the jurors got into the room one guy just
wanted to go the baseball game, so he just wanted the kid to be guilty so he could get out of
there. Plus the fan wouldn t work at first so all of them were hot and were ready to get out of
there, so I think they just wanted the kid to be guilty.

First, the knife got some to vote not guilty. Fonda presented a knife that was like the one that
was used during the killing because some jurors thought there was only one knife that existed.
Second was the chair seen where he acted like he was in bed and walked the steps off that the
old man had claimed he had heard everything that had happened. This one got some more jurors
to vote not guilty because Fonda said there was no way he could have made it and the time he
did it. Third, were the glasses this as well got a few jurors to going not guilty. Because Fonda
claimed that the old lady could have not been able to see all it happened through a train window.

4. Differences Between Pitheciidae And The Remaining...
Opazo et al. (2006) conducted an analysis and found that among the six loci used in their study,
two of them supported the hypothesis which suggests that the first split was between Pitheciidae
and the remaining platyrrhines, which grouped Atelidae and Cebidae together (Chavez et al.,
1999) and one of the loci supported the hypothesis of Ateliedae and Pitheciidae being sister
group of the family Cebidae (Canavez et al., 1999). These results therefore indicate that there was
an initial radiation in the early Miocene which separated the three families from one another.
According to Opazo et al (2006), these separations occurred over a relatively short period of
geological time. Also, several species of Ateles were represented and analysed in... Show more

record. Palaentological evidence thus far describes Doliochocebus as a fossil of cebine, in the
clade that includes extant members of genus Saimiri (Szalay and Delson, 1979). Based on
estimations of the origin of the subfamily Cebinae which was 18 million years ago, this fossil
was in fact the stem of the subfamily. Also, Stirtonia was considered to be an alouattinin fossil
(Szalay and Delson, 1979) and according to their results the split between Alouatta and the
remaining members of the family occurred 16 million years ago (Opazo et al., 2006 p. 279), a
result that also agrees with the fossil record. Furthermore, the fossil pitheciid Cebupithecia is one
of the most complete skeletons of a fossil platirrhine and believes to be dated near the time of the
most recent common ancestor of the total group. By using the molecular clock, the split between
the lineage that eventually led to Callicebus and the lineage leading to the other pitheiid genera
occurred after the divergence of Callicebus but before the divergence of Pithecia, Cacajao, and
Chiropotes (Opazo et al,. 2006, p. 294). Wildman et al. (2009) however, inferred that Pitheciidae is
the sister taxon to the other two platyrrhine families, Cebidae and Ateliedae. Their data confidently

the book, both Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley had to fight against pain during the times
when Barkley loses her first lover, when Henry suffers from the trench mortar trauma, and when
Henry bids farewell to the dying Barkley. In the opening pages of the book, Hemingway did a
fantastic job in highlighting Barkley s grief for her lost lover. Notably, Barkley had never met
Henry before, but with his mention of the stick which belonged to her fiance, she instinctively
talked with anguish. He was a very nice boy. He was going to marry me and he was killed in the
Somme... He could have had anything he wanted if I would have known (Hemingway 18 19).
Even so, the next night she would allow Henry to give her a kiss. Oh, darling, she said. You will

scene, but in reality, however, Barkley s mind is elsewhere;

Students in college these days are keen to take part in sports. They are sometimes ready to miss
their important lessons to perform sports activities held in school or outside school and they
may get treated in illegal way. Specifically, according to NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic

U.S, the institution specified three groups of athlete students who received inappropriate
academic assistance in math class by taking pictures of some tests in order to send it to expert to
answer it (?Academic Fraud,? 2015). In fact, the importance of sports is directly related to the
wellbeing of the student both physically and mentally. It could not be denied. Moreover, taking
part in extracurricular activities with regard to sports can also impact the credentials of a student
and further help him improving his profile (Lumpkin, A., Stokowski, S., 2011). On the other hand,

Within the last decade, the United States, and world alike, have both seen vast advances in
technology present in households and daily life. Constant internet and social media access pollutes
our society with those who constantly find their eyes dried by the impending information on their
phones. Aside from texting, our phones, tablets, computers, and televisions present us with much
over looked information, like statistics. This knowledge is presented through reputable sources that
litter the internet, so that viewers believe the information they are being fed. Statistics are very
powerful; they are figures that are comparable to the absolute truth. Despite their apparent validity,
those who generate these numbers are only human and are susceptible to errors, thus making
statistics impure and unreliable. The world of statistics is one that may appear very precise at first
glance, but with further investigation one can gather that there are many simple errors that may be
made through no fault of the investigator. These discrepancies are divulged as a result of not
meeting criterion required for a given value to be considered statistically valid. These requirements
are numerous and similar, but ultimately, each holds a unique meaning. These include, but are not
limited to, construct validity which ensures the experiment and information gathered coincide with
the theory being tested. Subcategories of construct validity are inclusive of convergent and

Machiavelli defines it as the worst option for a principality. Then is the auxiliary army. This kind

putting the principality in a situation of debt with the principality that the army belongs to. The
principality lost its military independence and is tied at the mercy of another principality.
Additionally, he describes, the own army that is the best army a principality could take and is the
most recommended by Machiavelli, for the simple reason that they are the only ones who are
entirely loyal to the princeand they are the most reliable. It is very difficult for a prince to be
betrayed by his own army. This is the army that you can trust battle, as they are trained according
to your commands. This is the kind of ideal army for a principality, new or acquired by
inheritance. Finally, he talks about the mixed army which is the mix of its own army and one
assistant. Whenever a prince has its own soldiers in an army, he can trust them, Machiavelli insists
that own soldiers are the most reliable and less dangerous for a prince.

Salmonella
Introduction
Salmonella is known as a gram negative, rod shaped bacillus. It is a facultative anaerobe in the
family Enterobacteriaceae (Todar). There are more than 1,000 known types of Salmonella, with
ranging levels of toxicity (Jones), accounting for 60% of all bacterial diseases (Curtello).
Salmonellosis has affected over 1.4 million people per year in the United States, including more
than 500 fatal cases (Jones). This organism has a wide host range with abilities to attack both
animals and humans (Tartakow). Salmonella s main habitat is in the intestinal tracts of warm

Since it has such a long incubation period, this suggests that Salmonella typhimurium is able to
avoid detection by the host immune system early in the course of infection (Helene). The non host
adapted Salmonella cause very diverse typhoid like symptoms and is most common cause for
foodborne infections (Todar). Gastroenteritis is characterized by a sudden onset of fever,
abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. Diarrhea is a result of secretions of fluids by
the small and large intestines. These symptoms are caused by acute inflammatory responses given
off by the bacteria within the intestine (Giannella). In extreme cases S. typhimurium could affect
respiratory, central nervous or cardiovascular systems causing things like pneumonia and
meningitis. The severity of symptoms depends on the type, amount ingested, a person s age, and
susceptibility to illnesses. Elderly people and young children are the most vulnerable to symptoms
of Salmonellosis. Symptoms can begin to appear anywhere between six and forty eight hours and
can last three days or even three weeks.
Septicemia is another form of the manifestation of Salmonella in the body. This is known as the
intermediate stage of the infection and does not cause intestinal symptoms. Also, the bacteria are
unable to be eradicated from the fecal matter secreted by an infected host. The harshness of the
specific infection is dependent on the endurance of the patient

20. The Piano Suites Diary Rodion Shchedrin Summary
The piano suites Diary composed by Rodion Shchedrin who is one of the most well known
contemporary composers and pianists in Russia, Shchedrin combines elements of Russian folklore
styles, baroque inspired polyphony and pantonality techniques. The combination of compositional
techniques has created a new musical language, present in his pianocompositions, fusing traditional
Western compositional techniques with Russian folk musical styles.
I used the score from the German publisher Schott Music. Diary, which is a set of seven
compositions. This work was written for pianist Anna Gourari. The first performance was in
Moscow on December 5, 2002. I found one commercial CD containing this suite, recorded by
Ekaterina Mechetina, in album Schedrin Shakhidi , available on Spotify for reference. As composer
suggested that it is possible to perform each piece separately, and he also mentioned attacca at each
end of the movements. In this suite, Shchedrin developed a compositional technique that
reintroduced the pitches of a single motive continuously throughout one movement, with rests as
space between phrases. This piano suite, as one of the Shchedrin s influential present piano works,
features a combination of performance elements and is attractive for both concert artists and young
age students. This repertoire ranges in medium difficulty and is filled with elements of dance, folk
music, traditional and non traditional harmonies. The use of contrasting textures and imaginative

21. Summary Of John Searle s Argument
John Searle first proposed the argument known as The Chinese Room Argument in a book he wrote
in 1984. The argument is well known if not famous and has become one of the best know
arguments in recent philosophy. Searle imagines himself locked in a room following a computer
program for responding to questions written in Chinese characters slipped under the door. Searle
does not understand Chinese writing, but he can follow the computer program to manipulate
symbols and numerals to easily respond to the questions without fully understanding even what he
was being asked or responding. The narrow conclusion of the argument is that following
instructions and programming a computer might make it seem to understand Chinese but doesn t

Due to the fact that Searle is inside the room and does not actually understand Chinese, he claims
the Chinese Room cannot be cognitively. Therefor, the Chinese Room would be functionally
equivalent but not cognitively equivalent to the native Chinese speakers and furthermore, if the
Chinese Room can imitate understanding without truly having it, then both Strong AI and
Functionalism would have to be invalid. Functionalism s imperative is to show that functional
equivalence must always equal cognitive equivalence, so if one could show functional equivalence
did not equal cognitive equivalence then Functionalism would be invalid. Additionally, if a

Bradley Lewis s Moving Beyond Prozac, DSM, and the New Psychiatry: the Birth of Post
psychiatry, tried introducing contemporary humanistic theory based on post psychiatry in chapter
two. Bradley tried to explain that the concept of post psychiatry could be supported by discussions
through three philosophical approaches: referential, relational and pragmatic. Bradley described
that new psychiatry pandered to Gross and Levitt s science war and went with the referential theory.
The reference theory approach emphasizes the objective fact itself and does not depend on people s
interpretations. Therefore, in the new psychiatry, diagnosis of a person will be based on whether
the person satisfies a criterion of a certain disease or not. Bradley pointed out that the risk of taking
the referential theory approach in psychiatry might strongly lead to the imposition of doctrine such
that there was a truth in the world. Bradley also introduced the relational theory s flexibility, which
was from the connection not with a fact in the real world but concepts in human s different
interpretations or communities. The relational theory, in psychiatry, led the idea that there was no
one truth and allows to have multiple interpretation as truths. The relational theory took account of
humanities and would not label a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though referential theory can provide a clear criterion for putting people in a certain group, it
could label a person with a dogmatic stigma so called mental illness in the psychiatry. Since the
referential theory based categorization would not take account of the person s belief, policy,
emotion, or communities, the labeling categorization could ignore the humanity of the person.
Regardless, the person might have different perspectives on his/her life or world; the categorization
would not reflect the person s

23. Diabetes Mellitus As A Disability
The amount of patients being diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus has sky rocketed these past few
years. In 2010 the figures were 25.8 million and 8.3% and has increased in 2012 to 29.1 million
Americans, or 9.3%. (American Diabetes Association, 2014); it is seen nationwide, and has now
even begun to affect our youth. In South Texas Diabetes Mellitusseems to be the number one

Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke (American Diabetes
Association, 2014).Society needs to further educate themselves in order to fully understand this
disease and how it can affect their daily lives, whether by short term complications like blurred
vision, to long term complications like kidney failure, and how they can prevent or delay diabetes
and its complications.
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic illness that requires the individual to manage, support, and educate
themselves of their illness in order to prevent any further complications. It is disease that is caused
by the impairment of insulin secretion and also caused by insulin resistance and insulin deficiency.
Insulin is the hormone used to control and maintain homeostasis over the amount of glucose in
our blood stream. If not much insulin is secreted it can lead to hyperglycemia, which is an
abnormal increase of glucose in the body. Early symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus are related to
hyperglycemia and include, but not limited to, polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia (excessive
thirst), weight loss, sometimes with polyphagia (excessive hunger), and blurred vision. This may
also lead to pre diabetes, which is when glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough
for a diagnosis of diabetes (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014).

24. Fascism And Anti Rationalism
Fascism has an anti character it is defined by what it opposes. Discuss.
Fascism as an ideology is opposed to much of what many perceive as belonging in a modern
society such as its anti Semitic, anti race and anti rationalist beliefs. In contrast, fascism is also
accustomed to having many beliefs that it is positive towards such as Ultranationalism,
Expansionism and Corporatism. Therefore, Fascism does have an anti character as it is defined by
what it opposes.
Fascism is anti rationalist and counter enlightenment which was a very late nineteenth century
policy. The enlightenment was based on the ideas of universal reason, natural goodness and
progress. It was committed to liberating humans from the darkness of irrationalism and superstition.
Friedrich Nietzsche proposed that humans are motivated by powerful emotions rather than their
rational mind which he called will to power . Many Fascists instead believe in vitalism where
organisms gain characterises from instinct rather than reason. Anti rationalism has influenced
fascism in many ways. Firstly, it gave fascism anti intellectualism reflected in its tendency to go
straight into action. For example, Mussolini s favourite slogans included action not talk and
inactivity is death . Secondly, by abandoning the standard of universal reason fascism placed its
faith in history alone. For example, Mussolini promised to take Italy back to the time of the
Roman Empire. While Hitler created a Third Reich to follow

The Middle Ages occurred when the eastern world seemed to have plummeted into an age of
regression and darkness. It consisted of the period between 500 and 1500 A.D, and it happened
after the fall of the Roman Empire. During this time, education was seemingly forgotten. Many
people believed that education was not an important factor during the Middle Ages, but they were
wrong. According to the article Medieval Women , Educationback then was very important, so
much that even some women were admitted to learn how to read and write ( Medieval Women ).
It is important to know that in the Middle Ages most of the people were not able to go to school. As
explained by the historian, John Simkin In 1330 only about 5% of the population could read or
write. It was extremely rare for peasants to be literate. Some lords of the manor had laws banning
serfs from being educated (Simkin). It was usually only the sons from rich families that went to
school. During the Middle Ages, there were some important aspects in Education such as types of
schools, methods for courses, and rejection of women for school.

The Pros and Cons of Electric Cars Cars have become the most common form of transportation
that individuals use in their day to day lives. Not only is there a selection of brands to choose

diesel fueled, electric, and hybrid cars. Each car comes with a vast amount of differences,
besides the obvious power source. As well as the differences, each car also comes with its
advantages and disadvantages. However, as time has progressed electric cars have become more
popular and in demand. But of course with each popular and in demand item, there will certainly
be pros and cons. The first successful electric carmade its appearance to the world over one
hundred years ago, around 1890 thanks to William Morrison, a chemist who lived in Des Moines,
Iowa. His six passenger vehiclecapable of a top speed of 14 miles per hour was little more than an
electrified wagon, but it helped spark interest in electric vehicles. (Matulka, 2012) Although their
advantages were soon overshadowed by gasoline driven automobiles, they slowly made a return in
2008 thanks to common consumer, Tesla Motors. The electric cars grew and quickly gained
popularity due to its energy efficient nature and comparatively lower cost. In addition to the energy
efficiency and lower costs, electric vehicles are ecosystem friendly, smoothly driven, quiet, and
quick, no tailpipe emissions and last but not least, the electric

bed you use angles by horizontally pulling the covers up on to the rectangular mattress where they
belong. Telling time uses angles by the short hand moving every hour and the long hand moving
every minute. The hands are always either in an obtuse or acute angle. Wresting uses angles and if

If students were dressed in uniforms, there would also not be the distraction of revealing clothing
that often appears in the hallways of our public schools Too many students are preoccupied with
how they look and what they wear, rather than their studies. Schools have become a stage for the

School uniforms can create a sense of togetherness in a school building. The gap between the

depreciation, a maximized capital appreciation and an increasing market value in the foreseeable

To do so, he s investing $55,000 and planning to finish the work within 4 months. First of all, to
save up some money Leonard decided to be his own contractor and supervise those who will
actually do the job. This plan has many flaws. First, he has a full time job that would allow him
to look after the premises only during his free time; if so, the irregularity by which Leonard would
run the renovation of the house would highly damage the speed at which the job will be completed,
rendering his estimate of a ready to rent property within 4 months highly unrealistic. Also, Leonard
fails to keep into consideration the opportunity cost of the time he will invest in the property; by
completing some jobs on his own, Leonard plans on saving money, truth is, he will be spending
money for, example, tools.
4. Should Leonard make this investment?
No. Assuming Leonard takes over the existing mortgage and has access to the $160,000 lent by
the bank, plus his $25,000, he would have $185,000 available to invest, which would cover for the
cost of purchasing the property and half the cost of renovating it.
Now, if instead Leonard started a new loan and obtained $210,000, estimated a market value of the
premises of $265,500, by summing up all the costs to purchase the house and open the loan, he
would still be $6,500 short. He expects to make up for that gap, by finishing the renovation of the
premises within 4 months, but also planned to be his own contractor while

Yoshino states the beliefs of key influential Black figures, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.,
that civil rights unduly focused on what distinguished individuals from one another, rather than
emphasizing what they had in common (543). This line of thinking is much more beneficial for
most citizens. Skin color should not be a point of discrimination anymore, and it doesn t benefit
anyone to make fun of another s distinguishing features. It pushes some people to cover their own
skin/nationality for their own sake. Both Yoshino and Levy make points of this as Yoshino
discusses Ramon Estevez/Martin Sheen, and that he could become a white actor if he covered his
ethnicity (539). Levy mentions the book Uncle Tom s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher, in which one
black man named George Harris, passes as a Spanish gentleman (249). Both acts of lying about
their ethnicity for the sake of being able to live happily only perpetuates why people cover in the

Tactical Radio Systems: The Joint Tactical Radio Systems can be described as inexpensive radio
systems that are software programmable and offer reliable, secure, data, multi channel voice, and

deliver communications networking capabilities that enable the transfer of several megabits of data

reason for this consideration is the fact that the systems will work with most of the current military

direction of bilateral trade flows across countries or regional economic blocs. The motives behind
the formation of such arrangements disparate from region to region hence, there are differing
arguments that explain the rationale for their set up. Developing countries regional blocs in general,
African ones in particular, are often criticized for being politically oriented and this view has been
partially supported by the study. From the above regression results and the subsequent explanations,
it could be concluded that trade flow in the study area is positively impacted by real GDP in both
trading partners and is statistically significant. It is also directly proportional to the population
number in both countries, although the population number in the trading partners of countries in
the study area is not statistically significant. In addition, regression results from the dummy
variables, colonial history, membership of both trading partners in East African Community, and

group of variables that significantly explain trade in EAC are distance between the centers of the
trade partners and number of land locked countries in the country pair. Unlike other variables in the

42. Sicko and Moore Essay
Dawli 10 Elias Dawli WrtВ105 Professor Bollinger December 12, 2010 SiCKo: The
ThoughtВProvoker Michael Francis Moore is a controversial American filmmaker who has directed
numerous documentaries. These documentaries have taken a large spectrum of popular American
issues and reduced them to one: capitalism. His most popular cinematic works include Bowling for
Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Capitalism: A Love Story, and mostВnotably, SiCKo. With a liberal
stance, Moore has documented his own vision on America s large corporations, such as the Bush
administration s foreign policy, financial crises, and the American healthcare system. Although all

During Moore s adventure, the United Dawli 10 States Coast Guard stops and questions Moore
and his crewmembers about their destination. Moore cleverly answers, We re not going to Cuba!
We re going to America! It s American soil (SiCKo). This voyage is humorous because Moore
plays upon the irony that in order for American citizens to receive free quality health care, they
must be taken the prison, which houses some of America s most dangerous criminals. Another
example in the film is when Moore discovers in a British hospital corridor a CASHIER window,
which he pretends to suppose is the hidden flaw in British free health services (Callenbach 18).
However, he soon learns that the Cashier is actually a place where the hospital pays its patients for
any costs they may have incurred throughout their stay, such as transportation costs to and from the
hospital. Moore compares the fact that people can actually get paid to go to the hospital in England,
to America where patients need to pay for their health care, and illustrates this point using humor
and sarcasm. As Chapman illustrates, Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort
of cinema, which means that there are inevitably pressures and sometimes conflicting claims
(Chapman 8). In other words, although

43. How It Feels To Be Colored Me By Zora Neale Hurston
Before laws were passed for equality, African Americans had a difficult time coping with being
undermined by whites. This led them to build their own communities and remain among their
own. The story How it Feels to be Colored Me by Zora Neale Hurston was written in 1928, about
her moving from a community of her own kind to neighbors who discriminated against her and
her family. Though a person s environment can affect how they see himself/herself or how others
might perceive him/her, difficult times does not exactly mean that a person will become bitter or
vengeful about it. In the beginning of Zora s story, she stated a strong quote that solidified her
black identity. She said, I am colored but I offer nothing in the way of extenuating circumstances
except the fact that I am the only Negro in the United States whose grandfather on the mother s
side was not an Indian chief (Hurston, 1928). She goes on to mention that the only encounters that
she had from native whites were the ones passing through the town of Eatonville, Florida that she
would wave to. Zora saw no color. Her comfort zone was in that small town. She was known as...

I was not Zora of Orange County any more, I was now a little colored girl (Hurston, 1928). She
finally got a taste of discrimination. In Barbara Johnson s journal entitled, Thresholds of
Difference: Structures of Address in Zora Neale Hurston, she mentions that there is a loss of
identity. The I is no longer Zora, and Zora becomes a she (Johnson, 1985). In a way, there is a
theme of adaptability. This move did not break her spirit. This is known because she says that, I
am not tragically colored (Hurston, 1928). Zora makes it known that she is not ashamed to be
colored. Though white people would make it a point to mention how blacks are progressing in
times, she refuses to stay tied to the memory of slavery or feel disgraced because she is

44. Brueghel s Icarus
Lines on Brueghel s Icarus
Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on
Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting by Brueghel and myth
of Icarus should be studied beforehand. By describing the visuals in the beginning, using specific
diction, and making a noticeable attitude shift, Hamburger paints a mental picture of the fateful,
unnoticed fall of Icarus.
In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who were in close proximity of the
fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeeded in recognizing
the rise and descent of Icarus as they were absorbed in their own tasks, immersed in their own
thoughts. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman dreams of fish;/ Aloft, the sailor . Hearing the
wings of the hero, the shepherd was the sole being that took note of the strange phenomenon above
him. Yet, uncertain to whom the wings belonged to, he labeled them as a pair of eagle wings. To
the civilians, Icarus death was insignificant, as their lives went on without any change. ... Show

Fishermen fish. Sailors sail. Ploughmen plough. And sheep eat. Each aware of and focused on

based on their fateful decisions. Icarus decision to challenge his bounds of freedom, basking in
the majestic sunlight, while admirable became his downfall. His lack of awareness in flying too
high resulted in the breaking his wings of freedom by getting too close to the sun. His fateful
flight condemned him to fail, fall, and die. Those living below couldn t save him due to their lack
of awareness as well. One lesson derived might be to be Mindful of all around

47. Comparison of US Bill of Rights and The Canadian Charter...
BACKGROUND OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS
The United States Bill of Rights came into being as a result of a promise made by the Fathers of
Confederation to the states during the struggle for ratification of the Constitution in 1787 88. A
great number of the states made as a condition for their ratification, the addition of amendments,
which would guarantee citizens protection of their rights against the central government. Thus, we
have a rather interesting situation in which the entrenchment of a bill of rights in the American
Constitution was done by the virtual demand of the states, they themselves fearing a central
government which was not legally constrained and restricted as far as its powers were concerned.
The resulting Bill of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entrenchment of rights in the Canadian Constitution comes after long experience with a system
of parliamentary supremacy. The American judicial tradition of treating the written constitution as
fundamental law cannot have an instant Canadian counterpart. Thus, it does not follow that the
Canadian courts will necessarily claim a role comparable to that of courts in the United States, nor
is it clear that the representative bodies in Canada would tolerate such a judicial assertion of power.
Opposition by government bodies to the Charter have already occurred in Canada, where the Parti
Quebecois government of Quebec invoked the notwithstanding the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms clause for the purpose of protecting their language laws from attack under the charter.
This report will attempt to note some of the common and distinctive features of the text of the two
constitutions as well as to how they differ.
Three major classes of rights are protected by both the Canadian and United States constitutions.
Freedom of expression, religion, and assembly are safeguarded in part I section 2 of the Canadian
Constitution Act, 1982, and in the First Amendment of the American Constitution. The Legal
Rights listed in sections 7 14 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, protecting criminal
suspects and defendants by various procedural safeguards, are paralleled by American rights to
