Marijuana Should Be Legal For Medical Benefits Essay
In today s society, marijuana is utilized by many adults and even teenagers. Whether the reason for the
use is for medical reasons, obtain a high, for socializing, escaping depression; marijuana has impacted
many live for the better. Marijuana or cannabis has been known to man since as early as 7000 B.C. In
1619, the colony of Jamestown in Virginia passed the first cannabis related law, stating that it is
required for all farmers to grow cannabis sativa or hemp plant because of its strong fiber that where
being used to make sails, ropes and even clothing. During the 1800s, cannabis extract medicines were
produced by American pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly, Parke Davis and Squibb. In 1910,
in the Southwestern United States, Mexican immigrants introduced recreational use of cannabis, in
which the immigrants referred to as marihuana (Mark, 2015)
Anti legalization groups argue there is not enough scientific data to support marijuana s medical
benefits. According to Whitehouse.gov (original emphasis), To date...neither the FDA nor the Institute
of Medicine have found smoked marijuana to meet the modern standard for safe or effective medicine
for any condition. It s highly unlikely that anyone will be able to prove the substance is entirely safe,
because (let s be honest), it s not. As with all drugs, there is an associated risk that comes along with
any benefits the drug may have. It s just like on those prescription drugs, when you hear how a

The Death Of The Modern American Mafia
The American underworld reared its head for the first time in the late nineteenth century. Since this
time new waves of immigrants to the United States, primarily Italian, have facilitated in the rise of
organized crime in America. Italian mafia members treated the workings in America as an extension of
the Sicilian mafia rather than a new organization. The immigration of the Lucania family from Italy to
the United States would be the cause of one of the most drastic changes in the workings of organized
crime. Charles Luciano became the father of the modern American mafia.
Charles Luciano lived the hard childhood experienced by the children of almost all immigrants. On

Luciano could barely speak English which caused him to struggle in school and, being stubborn and
belligerent, he turned to the streets (Gosch, 1975). However, during his five years of formal education,
Luciano did learn one thing: Jews could prove extraordinary allies (Gosch, 1975).
Luciano learned his way around the life of the streets. One of his first major rackets was getting his
schoolmates to pay him for protection ( Lucky Luciano Biography , n.d.). If they didn t cough up the
money, he was liable to give them a beating himself ( Lucky Luciano Biography , n.d.). By 1916, he
was a leading member of the Five Points Gang, a gang with a reputation for brutality and for fighting
to the death in gang wars. In this same year, Luciano started delivering narcotics for George Scanlon,
and was caught for selling heroin, which got him a year at Hampton Farms Penitentiary. This was the
start of something for Luciano.
Luciano formed a gang that would later dominate the face of organized crime and change it into a new
and all pervasive menace that would influence the American social life for many years to come. He
first met Meyer Lansky and Benjamin Bugsy Siegel when he was into grabbing pennies from jewish
kids for protection (Gosch, 1975). Luciano had walked up to Lansky, and standing a whole head taller
than him, made the usual proposition for protection (Gosch, 1975). Lansky stared Luciano down and,
with no fear, told Luciano he didn t need

The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid
Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15 minute
time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up
with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we
played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that
playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve
on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear
rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure
on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board
games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move along with the line in many directions.
Materials Required:
Grid Game Board
14 nickels, 14 pennies
2 dices
2 players

Goal: You are in a war, so you need to capture the other army in order to win the battle.
Setup:
Each player has an army, which is 14 soldiers for each side (Nickels and Pennies)
Set 10 nickels and pennies for each side on the 2 lines at the end of each side, and each player keep 4
nickels and pennies to resurrect if need.
Both players need to roll dices to find out who go first and choose a place to reborn soldiers in their
side.

Strike at San Fransisco State College Essay
Strike at San Fransisco State College
In the meantime at San Francisco State College, students in the Third World Liberation Front (TWLF),
a coalition of African American, Latino, and Asian American student groups, began demanding
reforms that addressed the concerns of students of color and the surrounding community. After more
than a year of negotiating with the school and organizing students, they called a strike on November 6,
1968, that became the longest student strikein United States history. When it was finally settled in
March 1969, many of the students demands were met, including the establishment of a School of

Hayakawa, one of the few faculty members willing to go back to work, felt it was his duty to cross the
picket line and continue the education of the students who desired it. He believed the faculty had
forgotten their primary mission teaching, conducting research, and pursuing academic excellence.
On November 28, 1968, Hayakawa was named acting president of San Francisco State College by
California Governor Ronald Reagan and the trustees of the California state college system. With no
previous administrative or political experience, his selection was an unpopular choice among faculty
members and students. Prior to his appointment, Hayakawa had served on a five person presidential
selection committee whose members had reportedly agreed not to seek the office. Hayakawa denied
any agreement had been made and accepted the job under extreme opprobrium from committee
members. Hayakawa was viewed as eccentric in appearance and style. Wearing Hawaiian carnation

His first priority as acting president was to reopen the campus following Thanksgiving break ending
the strike. To achieve this objective, he yielded on some student demands and rejected others. This,
however, was unsatisfactory to student leaders, who employed 1,000 protesters to close the campus on
the first day following from Thanksgiving break. Taking a firm stance,

In George Orwell s Essay Such, Such Were The Joys
Throughout George Orwell s essay, Such, Such were the Joys, the poor class in society is represented
as incompetent and undeserving of joy and success. Instead they earn and deserve beatings physically
and mentally. The poor class is represented this way to show how money appears to buy success and
happiness through Orwell s implying the Joys and privileges that the elite class have. The essay begins
discussing Orwell as a young boy arriving at a school by the name of St. Cyprian s. Right at the
beginning of this essay and Orwell s school experience, he wets the bed making a small mistake that
likely all children have made before. The headmaster doesn t just swiftly forget about it, instead he
harshly presages young Orwell of the beating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The underlying cause of this treatment is essentially because money pays for life s comforts. Above all
the poor class shouldn t have to be beaten or looked down upon even if they don t have the money to
pay for life necessities, like an education specifically in Orwell s case. Even though money and the
lack of it were the main themes in Orwell s essay joy is something else that is important to consider
especially because that s what Orwell called this essay. Orwell explained how everything was working
against him because he had no wealth. He never mentioned the greater joy that the elite class had and
he kept it surreptitious. This is because joy can reside among any social class. Orwell called this essay,
Such, Such Were the Joy s because... (FIX THIS!!!)
Since the beginning of time the poorer class has been represented and treated a certain way because of
the belief of the importance of money. This is due to the permanent belief that they haven t done
anything for society so society does not need to do anything for them except of course make their life
miserable. Even though Orwell represented the poor as undeserving of anything with no abilities to
accomplish anything he wrote this essay to show that with lots of hard work it can be possible and he
wanted to show the breaking of these barriers throughout his

The Causes Of Abortion
Abortion is one most divisive issues facing our country today. One of the main devastating causes that
result in abortion is rape. Not only is rape a prime leading factor to having an abortion, but also
numerous reasons such as negative impact on the mother s life, financial instability, relationship
problems, unwillingness to be a single mother and medical reasons such as diseases, medical disorders
and stillbirth. Many people believe it is immoral and even consider it to be murder. The issue here is
the pro life supporters forget to understand the definition of abortion; The termination of pregnancy by
the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal
growth. Pro life believers do not support the idea of induced abortion and believe it should be illegal.
As a matter of fact, if abortion were to be outlawed it would still be performed, unfortunately by an
untrained or even uneducated staff. Pro choice believers support the idea women should have the
choice to do what she pleases with her own body. As an example; a woman that is raped by a man and
becomes pregnant with his child she can decide that she doesn t want to bear with the child of her
rapist because it is too painful for her to cope with. Pro choice supports take sympathies to these
victims while on the other hand, these women get called murderers by pro life supporters. Pro life
support the idea that every child has a right to live, even if the mother is financially

Assignment On Divine Law
STUDY QUESTIONS
Chapter 4: On Divine Law
1. What does it mean to know the divine law?
Basically, divine law is the kind of law that is not forced by any punishment or rewards in order to
follow them. Knowing divine law means acting good and behaving in a way that follows the nature
and how thing are; as an example, serving in the interest of nature which is understanding that all and
every human are free and every person should have their own freedom and choice and not abusing
others and doing your best to follow everything in nature in its own way. Following the divine law
automatically is following the law of God because law of nature is exactly the law of God and how he
made everything. Therefore, people who follow the divine law do not need any force to act and
behave correctly because they truly believe in their heart and mind to the law of nature and law of God
and they would not do anything but all the stuff that are correct in nature/God law.
2. What is the difference between joy and suffering?
Difference between joy and suffering as its explained in the text is that when God gave us the law of
nature and also gave us the free choice which is the freedom that we can choose between good and
evil acts, he provided us with our own good and bad. If a person decide to act good and follow the
divine law he is making himself joyful and helping himself/herself to be the person he/she decides and
if the person choose to act bad and not follow the path of nature law he/she is

Dworkin And Hartin Theory Of Law
In applying both Dworkin and Hart s theories of law, they come to very different conclusions in
regards to the case of Riggs v. Palmer. According to Dworkin s theory of law, judges do not solely
focus only on the rules, instead, they focus on seeking right answers. Dworkin has many problems and
disagreements with Hart s theory, one in particular is relating to what Dworkin labels principles and
policies . Dworkin defines a principle as a standard that is observed due to it being a requirement of
justice or fairness or some other dimension of morality (Dworkin, p.153 154). Policies, which go
alongside principles, are standards in which a goal is set out to be reached by the community (seen as
improvements to life) (Dworkin, p.153). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondary rules are split into three different types: Rules of change (allow public/private powers to fix
old rules), adjudication (remedy for inefficiency, introduces courts and law enforcement), and
recognition (confers powers on people to identify law, and the unification of rules) (MacAlister, 2017).
Another important concept within Hart s theory of law is that he thinks judges have to their discretion.
Hart proposes the idea of open texture in law, which states that at times, the law does not cover every
situation that arises and that law may run out (MacAlister, 2017). Within this open texture, the is a
clear core of certainty, where application of the law is apparent, and beyond the core, is the penumbra,
the uncertainty and indeterminacy in law in which hard cases are based upon. As law branches out of
this core of rules, it becomes more and more indeterminate. Due to this indeterminacy, Hart believes
that since there is no clear answer written in the law, judges should have the discretion in dealing with
hard cases. In the case of Riggs, since the relevant rules of law were of central concern and not
penumbral, the rules, as could seen by Hart prior to his elaboration in his postscript, as clear, and the
grandson should have received the inheritance since it was a valid will. Dworkin used the case of
Riggs to demonstrate his concept of judges sought for the right

Statement of the Problem
Do automated cashiers affect employment rates in supermarkets?
Do automated cashiers enhance the shopping experience?
Customers have traditionally been used to dealing with live cashiers in their supermarket shopping
experience and in most cases, most customers still look forward to that experience. In the research, we
found greater amounts of complaints over automated than employee operated checkouts. When these
machines were first introduced, it seemed like a good business idea in order to increase productivity
and reduce costs but that has not been the case. Customer satisfaction continues to diminish greatly in
all of the major chains that started to lay off employees and insert these machines into their daily use.
This is the case especially with the 55+ age group who have found themselves in longer lines and
arguing with machines when for years prior to self service checkouts, they had the formality of the
welcoming and warm words of employees at the checkouts.
Also over the years, lines at employee operated registers have gotten longer because customers prefer
to wait in line rather than to deal with the automated systems. Using the employee operated

Essay on The Tell-Tale Heart
Andrew Fiddler Professor Esquivel English 1020 15 February 2013 Themes of The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allen Poe explores the similarity of love and hate in many stories, especially The Tell Tale
Heart. In The Tell Tale Heart, the narrator confesses a love for an old man whom he then violently
murders and dismembers the body and hides the pieces below the floorboards in the bedroom. When
the police arrive, the narrator appears normal and unshaken by the murder. Later on, the man gives in
to the guilt and cannot withstand knowing anymore and not telling anyone. The narrator reveals his
madness by attempting to separate the person of the old man, whom he loves, from the old man s
supposedly evil eye, which triggers the narrator s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator reveals his inability to recognize that the eye is the I, or identity, of the old man. The eyes
symbolize the essence of human identity, which cannot be separated from the body. The eye cannot be
killed without causing the man to die. According to the narrator, For it was not the old man who vexed
me, but his Evil Eye. (Poe), the eye not the old man haunted him and had to be eliminated.
Characterization also helps the reader understand the theme. I think that the narrator is unnamed to
give the reader another sense that this whole story could happen to them, or anyone they know. It
shows the theme that everyone has an evil side, and although it is hard to admit, all humans are
capable of committing a murder such as this. But just like everyone is capable of committing this kind
of crime, everyone also feels the guilt after the deed is done. As the story goes on, the readers can see
the madness growing in the narrator. At first, he tells the story quite calmly. He even explains that after
the murder, he was completely calm with the police officers. The narrator then states The officers were
satisfied. My manner had convinced them. (Poe), thinking he could get by with the murder but he
could not stand the guilt that came along with it. By the end of the story when he hears the heartbeat,
his whole mannerism changes. He is stressed and his words and thoughts come out in a panicked tone.

could they do? Many other industries depended on the oil that Rockefeller provided and besides, the
Sherman Antitrust Act couldn t be enforced with these big businesses growing larger and larger.
He donated over 2500 libraries worldwide, he helped establish the famous concert hall in New York,

tests are an important tool in terms of many professions in an array of settings such as in clinical

Dyer County And The Towns
Dyer County and the towns that comprise it all have a rich history, and each town in the county has its
own beginnings that have resulted in how they are today. Dyer County currently encompasses the
three major towns of Dyersburg, Newbern, Trimble, and their surrounding villages. The following will
give brief histories of the major towns of Dyer County, the development of industry, and the history of
some of the smaller regions of the county, including my home area of Bonicord. Dyer County today is
a mixture of rural countryside, and small sections of factories surrounding the major towns with

Rutherford, a relative of one of the founders of Key Corner. However, like most southern counties,
Dyer County s main means of production was farming, and the timber industry. The county s main
crops were corn and tobacco, but later king cotton took over as the main crop. By the early 1920s,
Dyer County s timber resources were depleted. That left the Dyersburg Cotton Products, Incorporated
as the largest industry by 1929. Today, in Dyer County, there are many factories and more urban
infrastructure, but outside the major towns it is still rural farmland with small communities, such as
Finley and RoEllen. Dyer County was also involved in the Mexican American War and the Civil War.
During the Mexican American War, a volunteer company was organized in Dyer County and it was the
only county in west Tennessee to have any volunteers, so it was represented as the county instead of
the state. During the Civil War, Dyer County, had many regiments formed in the county, but it never
had any prolonged Confederate or Union camps. Dyer County also had a Confederate brigadier
general named, Otho F. Strahl, who was killed in the Battle of Franklin. After the Civil War, Dyer
County was one of the counties on west Tennessee marked as a hotspot for KKK activity. Dyersburg is
the largest town in Dyer County, and where most of the industry and development has taken place
since the county s creation. Dyersburg was first mentioned as a town

The Universal Theme of Good vs. Evil in Literature
The Universal theme of good vs. evil
The universal theme of good and evil is one of the most commonly used themes in literature. In
literature some writers choose to directly state themes of confidence, while others allow them to
indirectly develop. English literature often tends to concern itself more and more with the intended
meanings of the work through common stories of good and evil those are holding specific symbolic
meanings, whether these meanings represent good or evil, the readers continue to see the true
meanings of select works. Writers most often develop works using themes of good and evil, whether
they state them symbolically or directly. Readers may determine a theme as an idea, point of view, or
perception, embodied and expanded upon in a work. Good and Evil in Terms of Religious Beliefs
Good is usually associated with ideas of God. Evil is usually associated with ideas of the devil. When
the writer conveys messages of good and evil, they commonly use the symbols of light and dark, or
general opposites. Light, remaining the universal symbol of good, may be defined as love, happiness,
or even as a heavenly presence. As Opposing to darkness which continues to represent evil as anything
threatening, cold hearted, or aggressive. Light tends to expresses a positive affirmation while darkness
carries the negative sense of chaos.

The Automotive Sector in Italy
The Automotive Sector in Italy I. Introduction: Sector Analysis Part A: Out of all the countries I have
visited in my life, Italy is definitely my favorite. Italy is located in southern Europe bordering
countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. With a population of over sixty million
people, Italy has a capitalist market with high GDP per capita and a well developed infrastructure.
According to the International Monetary Fund, it is the eighth largest economy in the entire world and
third biggest in Europe. After analyzing the National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the GDP of Italy
expanded by 10% in the fourth quarter of last year. From 1960 2013, the GDP growth rate averaged
63% per year. Their main industrial base is driven by producing high quality consumer goods. The
main sectors in Italy are tourism, iron and steel, machinery, textiles, food processing, shoes, clothing
(fashion), and one of the biggest being the auto sector. Italy joined the European Union in 1952, and
between then and now, their country has gone through growth rates well above 4%. However, after
1992, Italy s expansion rates fell below the European Union average. Ever since then, Italy s
government has been trying to revive their economy by increasing the amount of public spending. In
result, the public debt and budget deficit have attained unsustainable levels and the country has
recently gone through a tough recession. Now in 2014, Italy has actually returned to growth after

Sobibor Death Camp Research Paper
R
Throughout the course of the Holocaust there were major rebellions at 3 of the 6 death camps (death
camps were concentration camps that carried out mass killings under the SS). Treblinka, Sobibor and
Auschwitz Birkenau all had major uprising by inmates. Although the methods used by inmates in each
case vary, they all share a common theme: they were caused by desperation from the imminent
presence of death.
The uprising at the Treblinka camp was triggered by a series of German military defeats bringing the
camp closer to liberation by allied forces. The Jewish prisoners knew that if the allies came close to
the camp the SS would liquidate all of the inmates and destroy the camp to hide any evidence of the
atrocities committed within. After careful planning and the discovery and suicide of the original
resistance leader, an escape was made. 300 inmates broke free of the barbed wire fences as resistance
fighters attacked the guards. During the SS lead manhunt that followed, 200 of the 300 escapees ...

A group of Sonderkommando prisoners began formulating a plan for escape. The Sonderkommando
(German for Special Unit ) were Jews in a camp that were forced under threat of death to dispose of
the bodies killed in the gas chambers. The Sonderkommandos were treated better than most prisoners
and had many special privileges because they needed to be in good shape for the work they did. The
SS also considered them to know too much about the horrors going on and routinely gassed the entire
unit every few months. Eventually a plan was made and the Sonderkommandos attacked and killed 11
SS officers and seized the camp armory. The uprising was soon discovered and the inmates had to run.
About half of the original prisoners made it out of the camp but most were killed by the surrounding
minefield or recaptured by SS patrols. Of 600 prisoners, 58 are known to have survived the

Tim Burton Film Analysis
Tim Burton s Mastery of Cinematic Techniques It s good as an artist to always remember to see things
in a new, weird way (Burton). Tim Burton, since childhood, has been had been fascinated with authors
like Dr. Susses and poets like Edgar Allan Poe. Now as an adult, Burton has created films that are very
imaginative yet dark style to captivate his audiences attention. These films will surely continue to be
watched and enjoyed for many generations to come. In the films Charlie in The Chocolate Factory,
Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride, Tim Burton uses editing, lighting, and camera movement in
order to create a mood that is haunting but at the same time wondrous and amazing. Tim Burton uses
numerous close up shots in the film Edward Scissorhands, creating a mood of ominousness. When
Edward (the main character) is talking to another main character (Peg) in front of the can opener, right
before the flashback, there is a close up shot showing something will happen. Burton s use of the close
up shot adds to the scene by better showing Edward s facial expressions and how he is reacting right
before the flashback. By using the close up shot the audience can see how Edward is looking uneasy
which supports why the mood is ominous. As well as a close up shot, director Tim Burton uses eyeline
in the film Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, producing a calm and peaceful mood. When the main
character Charlie receives a coin from his bedridden grandfather to by a chocolate bar, he

Military Academy Application Essay Sample
APPLICANT S STATEMENT:
Ever since I was young, joining a military academy was always something that I wanted to commit to.
My Uncle graduated from one and told me that it is an experience like no other, and how it shaped
him into an educated leader. I don t want some ordinary college, I want to challenge myself and prove
that I can face challenges that most individuals my age would not endure. What s the point of being on
this Earth if you are like everyone else? I acknowledge that I am capable of setting my physical and
mental standards higher than the ordinary college student. I am motivated to attend a military
academy.
My main reason for my motivation behind joining a military academy is the challenge itself. I am
determined to face the challenge of pushing my mind and body in order to meet the high standards
that this nation s military academies have set upon its cadets. I know that a military academy is the
best option for anyone, because it better prepares you for when you re out in the real world looking for
employment. However, my plan is to graduate and continue the challenging demands of a military
lifestyle as an active duty officer in the Marine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Academically, our nation s military academies offer a low student to faculty ratio as well as hands on,
outer classroom experiences. In my opinion, education isn t just found in a classroom. For example,
some academies offer their cadets to travel on ships for weeks at a time to places around the world that
I never would have imagined myself going to. Education is privileged experience that you can apply
towards life long skills. Military academies give you this hands on experience that can improve self
confidence, resulting in a better educated leader. As a well educated leader, others will have
confidence in your actions and gain their trust and respect that you ve earned from a military

Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw
An Analysis of the English class system in Pygmalion
Throughout the play, Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, many of the characters represent different
social class structures. They also resemble how the higher class citizens feel threatened by the lower
class citizens. Protagonist Eliza Doolittle, Henry Higgins, and Mrs. Pearce are prime examples of
characters who portray different roles in the Victorian social structure. This play takes place during the
Victorian period in England where the upper , middle, and lower class were at different stages. This
social system was not meant for lower class to move up and down the hierarchy. If someone was born
poor they would most likely die poor. Especially women in the class system were not able to move up
in the class system without their husbands. Through the book many characters break these traditional
norms, represent the ideas of the class system, and act as a model for the upper class.
Many of the characters represent different social class structures. Eliza would be a threat to the upper
class because her intent is to move from lower to upper class. In the beginning Eliza was just a dirty
flower girl on the street with no money and Higgins says, She is no doubt as clean as she can afford to
be; but compared to the ladies she is very dirty. Her features are no worse than theirs; but their
condition leaves something to be desired; and she needs the services of a dentist (129). Here Eliza is
the lowest of the low. She

African American Vernacular English (Aave)
African American Vernacular English
The United States of America is one of the world s most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations.
Even though there is not an official national language, most Americans speak Standard American
English (SAE). However, the most prevalent native English vernacular dialect in the United States is
African American Vernacular English (AAVE). According to Sharon Vaughn, AAVE is a dialect used
by some African Americans (110). In order to examine AAVE, one must explore the origins,
grammatical features, and prominent resolutions, which created a precedent for educating students that
speak dialects other than Standard American English.
For years, scholars and sociolinguist partook in debate over the ... Show more content on

Wolfram notes that double negatives are never interpreted as positives (305). An AAVE speaker may
say, Wasn t nobody in there but me and him to express that no one was in there but him and me.
The final and most recognizable trait of AAVE is the use of the habitual be. The habitual be conveys
events that happen routinely. Jack Sidnell offers several examples in African American Vernacular
English Ebonics. He illustrates, Standard English present perfect: He has been married. AAVE been:
He been married (Sidnell). In the Standard English sentence the implication is that, he is now no
longer married. However, in the AAVE sentence the implication is quite the opposite: he is still
married. The four above mentioned grammatical features are not the only rules that AAVE speakers
follow, but these rules are the most common and recognizable traits of AAVE.
As aforementioned, AAVE is the most prevalent native English vernacular in America. Consequently,
educators often encounter AAVE speakers and writers in their classrooms. Educators must inform
students that their home language is not Standard American English and create effective classroom
methods to educate non native SAE speakers. Faced with these constant occurrences, the Conference
on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) issued a statement on students rights to their
own language. The resolution states:
We affirm the students right to their own patterns and

  • 4. The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15 minute time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board games. • 11. Dworkin And Hartin Theory Of Law In applying both Dworkin and Hart s theories of law, they come to very different conclusions in regards to the case of Riggs v. Palmer. According to Dworkin s theory of law, judges do not solely focus only on the rules, instead, they focus on seeking right answers. Dworkin has many problems and disagreements with Hart s theory, one in particular is relating to what Dworkin labels principles and policies . Dworkin defines a principle as a standard that is observed due to it being a requirement of justice or fairness or some other dimension of morality (Dworkin, p.153 154). Policies, which go alongside principles, are standards in which a goal is set out to be reached by the community (seen as improvements to life) (Dworkin, p.153). ... Secondary rules are split into three different types: Rules of change (allow public/private powers to fix old rules), adjudication (remedy for inefficiency, introduces courts and law enforcement), and recognition (confers powers on people to identify law, and the unification of rules) (MacAlister, 2017). Another important concept within Hart s theory of law is that he thinks judges have to their discretion. Hart proposes the idea of open texture in law, which states that at times, the law does not cover every situation that arises and that law may run out (MacAlister, 2017). Within this open texture, the is a clear core of certainty, where application of the law is apparent, and beyond the core, is the penumbra, the uncertainty and indeterminacy in law in which hard cases are based upon. As law branches out of this core of rules, it becomes more and more indeterminate. Due to this indeterminacy, Hart believes that since there is no clear answer written in the law, judges should have the discretion in dealing with hard cases. In the case of Riggs, since the relevant rules of law were of central concern and not penumbral, the rules, as could seen by Hart prior to his elaboration in his postscript, as clear, and the grandson should have received the inheritance since it was a valid will. Although the methods used by inmates in each case vary, they all share a common theme: they were caused by desperation from the imminent presence of death. The uprising at the Treblinka camp was triggered by a series of German military defeats bringing the camp closer to liberation by allied forces. The Jewish prisoners knew that if the allies came close to the camp the SS would liquidate all of the inmates and destroy the camp to hide any evidence of the atrocities committed within. After careful planning and the discovery and suicide of the original resistance leader, an escape was made. 300 inmates broke free of the barbed wire fences as resistance fighters attacked the guards. • 30. Analysis Of Pygmalion By George Bernard Shaw An Analysis of the English class system in Pygmalion Throughout the play, Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, many of the characters represent different social class structures. They also resemble how the higher class citizens feel threatened by the lower class citizens. Protagonist Eliza Doolittle, Henry Higgins, and Mrs. Pearce are prime examples of characters who portray different roles in the Victorian social structure. This play takes place during the Victorian period in England where the upper , middle, and lower class were at different stages. This social system was not meant for lower class to move up and down the hierarchy. If someone was born poor they would most likely die poor. Especially women in the class system were not able to move up in the class system without their husbands. An AAVE speaker may say, Wasn t nobody in there but me and him to express that no one was in there but him and me. The final and most recognizable trait of AAVE is the use of the habitual be. The habitual be conveys events that happen routinely. Jack Sidnell offers several examples in African American Vernacular English Ebonics. He illustrates, Standard English present perfect: He has been married. AAVE been: He been married (Sidnell). In the Standard English sentence the implication is that, he is now no longer married. However, in the AAVE sentence the implication is quite the opposite: he is still married. The four above mentioned grammatical features are not the only rules that AAVE speakers follow, but these rules are the most common and recognizable traits of AAVE. As aforementioned, AAVE is the most prevalent native English vernacular in America. Consequently, educators often encounter AAVE speakers and writers in their classrooms. Educators must inform students that their home language is not Standard American English and create effective classroom methods to educate non native SAE speakers. Faced with these constant occurrences, the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) issued a statement on students rights to their own language.
