Essay On The American Revolution
Crafting an essay on the American Revolution presents a multifaceted challenge that extends
beyond the mere act of putting words on paper. This historical event is rich with complexities,
intricacies, and a myriad of perspectives that demand careful consideration. The need to navigate
through a vast sea of information, ranging from the economic and political factors leading to the
revolution to the societal and cultural shifts that ensued, requires a deep understanding of the
subject matter.
Moreover, delving into the ideological foundations and the diverse array of personalities
involved adds another layer of intricacy. The American Revolution is not a monolithic event; it's
a tapestry woven with the threads of various causes, battles, and consequences. Crafting a
coherent narrative that captures the essence of this revolution while remaining engaging and
informative demands meticulous research and thoughtful analysis.
Compounding the difficulty is the necessity to balance objectivity with personal insights,
offering a unique perspective without veering into bias. Constructing a compelling thesis
statement that encapsulates the significance of the American Revolution and guides the entire
essay adds an additional layer of complexity.
To write a truly impactful essay on the American Revolution, one must also grapple with the
challenge of synthesizing information, weaving together a seamless narrative, and drawing
connections between seemingly disparate events. Skillful organization of ideas, adherence to a
logical structure, and a mastery of language are essential to convey the nuances and historical
importance of this revolutionary period.
In conclusion, tackling the subject of the American Revolution in an essay is no simple task. It
requires a deep dive into historical archives, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate
complex ideas coherently. However, the reward lies in unraveling the layers of history and
offering readers a comprehensive understanding of this pivotal moment. If navigating these
challenges proves overwhelming, there are resources available, such asHelpWriting.net, where
assistance can be sought for similar essays and a plethora of other writing needs.

A Study On Stones River National Battlefield
The historical site I selected as the subject of my study was Stones River National
Battlefield. This paper concerns my experience researching the site, in addition to
my experience visiting the site. First, I will explain my reason for choosing the
site. Second, I will discuss preparation for my visit. Third, I will give a description
of the site. Fourth, I will explain what makes the site historic. Fifth, and finally, I
will discuss my impressions of the site. A number of years ago, I performed for the
Williamson County Historical Society in Nolensville, Tennessee. The primary
speaker at the event was Larry Hicklen, owner of the Civil War relic store
Yesteryear, which is near Stones River National Battlefield. He was discussing
Nolensville s involvement in the Civil War. He encouraged me to visit his store, as
well as the battlefield. Unfortunately, as a college student, my free time is limited.
Therefore, I found few opportunities to visit either location. I took this assignment as
a chance to visit the battlefield, having previously been to the Carter House, the
Hermitage, and Sam Davis Home, being well familiar with the last of these locations
due to my having performed Civil War era music there numerous times. I was,
unfortunately, largely unfamiliar with the events of the Battle of Stones River,
despite being a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. I searched for information
about the battle in four different American history books in my possession, two of

Wine Industry Analysis
The US winery industry had a growth rate of 4.7% between 2006 and 2011, and is
expected to grow by a rate of 4.9% over the next five years [ (IBISWorld) ]. In
California alone an average of 175 wineries have opened every year since 2000 [
(Richard Green) ]. The states of New York and Virginia have been major players in
the US wineindustry. The data shows that the demand for wine has been increasing
at an exponential rate over the past 5 years. Average annual revenue for the wine
industry is expected to be estimated at $20.2 billion through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ].
The growth of the wine industry, particularly over the past 10 years, can be
attributed to a few key drivers in the market. Per capita consumption of alcohol has

These wineries would import large amounts of wine in bulk, and then bottle the
wine in the US. This allowed the larger wineries to sell their wine at a considerably
cheaper price, hurting the smaller domestic wineries. In 2011, the import market
share in wine was roughly 26.5% [ (IBISWorld) ]. The amount of foreign wine
entering the US has been on the rise ever since it was named the largest consumer
of wine in the world. Foreign producers, who are experiencing a decline in business
in their home country, are looking for new markets to sell their product. Countries
such as Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand are able to produce their
wine at a lower cost than the US. The import of these wines has heated up the
competition in the US creating benefits for the US wine consumer. The superior
quality of the imported wines has also changed consumers thinking as far as how
much should be spent on a good wine. The immediate future looks promising for
the wine industry. In 2012, the industry is expected to grow by 4.4%, and will only
increase through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ]. The wine industry relies on a three tier
distribution system. The producers sell to the wholesalers, who then sell to the
retailers. The national sales tier consists of suppliers who sell to a wholesale
distributor [ (Tincknell amp; Tincknell) ]. As suppliers continue to consolidate, the
larger producers will have the upper hand due to
Studies For The Libyan Sibyl
Studies for the Libyan Sibyl
Studies for the Libyan Sibyl (1510 11) by Michelangelo Buonarroti is the study of
male anatomy and is a characteristic example of Michelangelo s late
draughtsmanship, and a preparatory sketch for one of the female seers frescoed
Libyan figure Sibyl, painted on the Sistine Chapel Ceiling (1508 1512) Rome,
Vaticana Palace. MichelangeloBuonarroti (Italian, Caprese 1475 1564 Rome) was a
painter, sculptor, architect, poet, engineer as well as a compulsive drawer, of the
High Italian Renaissance era, who exerted an unparalleled influence on the
development of Western art. Michelangelo was once quoted saying Design, which by
another name is called drawing is the font and body of painting and sculpture and
architecture and every other kind of painting and the root of all sciences
(Michelangelo And The Mastery Of Drawing). Michelangelo s purpose for Studies
for the Libyan Sibyl was not to create a finished piece to please the public or even a
person. Studies for the Libyan Sibyl is a 28.9 x 21.4 cm nude Italian Renaissance
piece he has distilled both the linear and tonal essence of the form. Drawn with red
and white chalk and possibly soft black chalk, or less probably charcoal on paper.
The reason Michelangelo drew Studies for the Libyan Sibyl was his way of learning
and understanding the elements that were crucial to the elegant resolution of the
figure s pose, especially the counterpoint twist of the shoulders and hips and the
The World Trade Organization and The Theory of
Absolute...
Why the famous theory of absolute and comparative advantages did not work when
the GATT and WTO were created?
In the world of internationalization and globalization, which worships money and
encourages ever growing trade, it is very difficult to find a model and further
implement it into the modern system so that it would be efficient, eco friendly and
yet economically viable for all participants. Most suggested models are in my opinion
out of date and do not answer the current world trends and challenges. And surely the
trade system we have at the moment cannot claim to be free.
Under globalization, all national economies are integrated into one global economy
and must obey the laws laid down by a global economic institution currently ... Show

The Bretton Woods Institutions were than set up. It was also decided that the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) would mainly focus on short term balance of
payments financing (the current account of the balance of payments), while the
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) would
concentrate on long term lending (the capital account).
That function, however, was largely taken over by the Marshall Plan, leaving the
World Bank to focus almost entirely on lending for the development of
underdeveloped countries.
The General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (GATT) was signed in 1947 as a global
international organization that specifies and enforces rules for the conduct of
international trade policies and serves as a forum for negotiations to reduce tariffs and
other barriers to international trade.
In 1995, it was replaced by The World Trade Organization (WTO) with a striking
146 members. The WTO is frequently lumped together with the World Bank and
IMF, because the three institutions have common policy goals of so called free trade,
free capital mobility, and export led growth in other words, globalization [2].
The GATT was only about trade of goods between countries and it s rules focused
on tariffs and quotas traditional trade measures. A tarriff being a tax charged when a

Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work Aristotle
True to the words of Aristotle, I made the decision to establish a career for myself
in the field of technology where my strongest penchant lies. Right from my
schooling, I loved computer based projects, working dedicatedly to discover the
field and its rich technicalities. The most impressive aspect of the field is
programming and coding, which I discovered for the first time through basic coding
in C during school. From then on, I have been an avid programmer, utilizing every
opportunity that comes my way to innovate and experiment. I have written codes for
simple programs in school and designed complex projects based on programming in
college. After 4.5 years of professional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basic courses like Computer Programming, Principle of Programming Language,
Object Oriented Programming laid the foundation for me to cultivate an advanced
knowledge in the field. Having a strong foundation helped me in coping up with
highly technical and challenging courses such as Computer Architecture, Compiler
Construction and so on.
Moreover, as a practice oriented person, I had a natural inclination toward the
practical sessions. When it came to programming, I was often found experimenting
with algorithms and innovatively worked to bring out the best output. I enjoyed all
the programming language lab sessions, including Web programming, C, C++, etc.
Considering programming as my forte, I ultimately chose a project that required
strong programming skills as well.
My final year project, Network Management was based on networking and the
process involved in it. In a scenario of multiple systems with one network, we aimed
at monitoring and controlling the various processes in all the systems. Ours was the
only project based on Networking and involved a fully operating computer network.
As part of the project, I developed my acumen in running a computer network, a LAN
connecting on LAN and with each other.
As a unique project, it involved a lot of innovation and challenges. With a team of
....... students, I was able to work through the technical glitches and setbacks to
fabricate a successful project.

The Media s Negative Portrayal of African American Males
They squirmed, pencils tapping their desks anxiously; none of their papers
contained more than five names. Eventually, all thirteen pairs of eyes made their
way from the papers, to the faces of their friends, and eventually, they restlessly
shifted over to me and stopped. This is hard, whined one seventh grade voice.
Another chimed in, It s all the same, I can t think of any more. The question I had
asked was simple: Please list as many young African American males that you see on
TV as possible.
However, the frustration that manifested itself in the room was proof that something

And just as the reign of these tyrants appears be coming to an end, another barrier to
equality is appearing on the horizon: the media.
In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future
racial parity by its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male.
These young men are literally only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best
cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as jewel adorned rappers, spewing
obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling around scantily clad
young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex and
smoking weed. Honestly, in the past few months I have yet to see a young African
American male portrayed as thoughtful, analytical, poetic, artistic, or even, sadly
enough, remotely intelligent or mature.
This might be acceptable if the case was such, but my experience alone proves
otherwise. I know plenty of young African American males who are mature beyond
their years, and extremely academically inclined. However, for reasons unbeknownst
to me, the media industry is either stuck on typecasting these men or deliberately
choosing to represent them only as non intellectual people. This is an outrage because
inherently it does not allow young African American males to even entertain the idea
that they can and should rise above the image of themselves with which they are
barraged every day. By promoting these unjust
Those Who By Insight Know What Love Is Essay
As any romantic will assert, love is by far the most powerful force known to human
hearts and minds. This sentiment is espoused throughout history, almost to the point
of clichГ©. Everyone has heard the optimistic statement, love conquers all, and The
Beatles are certain, however idyllic it may be, that all you need is love. Humanity
is convinced that love is unique within human emotion, unequalled in its power to
both lift the spirit up in throws of ecstasy, and cast it down in utter despair. Loves
power has suggested to many that it serves as a link to the divine, and that the
feeling instilled in man by love comes from the supernatural, be it God or otherwise.

The physical effect that love has on Dante is apparent whenever he is in its
presence, that is, through a vision of Love himself or through being close to
Beatrice. In their second encounter, nine years later, Beatrice is walking down the
street where Dante is standing in fear and trembling. As she passes him, she greets
him, of which he says, Such was the virtue of her greeting that I seemed to
experience the height of bliss [...] I was filled with such joy that, my senses
reeling, I had to withdraw from the sight of others. (5) It is after this encounter that
Dante has his first vision of Love manifested, in which love says to him, Ego
dominus tuus, or I am your master. Love is holding Beatrice in his arms, and in
one hand, Dante s heart. Love bids Beatrice to eat the heart and then, weeping, the
two ascend into heaven. It is clear that Dante is consumed, body and mind, by
Love, and sees him as a divine force to which he must submit his will. Just as
devout men who feel the influence and power of God within them give up their
will and lives to the service of their Lord, so Dante gives himself to Love. So strong
is his devotion that his thoughts are entirely consumed by Beatrice. The strain of
such a state weighs heavily on Dante, such that his appearance reflects his turmoil
and causes his friends to grow concerned. About inquiries into the cause of his pain,
Dante says, in obedience to Love s will, [...] I replied that it was Love who had
The Pardoner s Tale By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The Pardoner is a man who goes to common people and offers promises of pardon,
of healing, and forgiveness, all for a price that is. He openly boasts of all of his
deceitful way to all around sharing in the pilgrimage to Canterbury. He then
proceeds to tell the entire party of sinful things such as greed, drunkenness,
swearing, gambling, lechery, purjory, and gluttony, all of which he is a partaker.
The Pardoner s tale and the Pardoner himself are reflections of today s culture. The
Pardoner tells the company of people he is with of his vices and he speaks them
with pride as if they are not really vices but virtues. He then proceeds to pronounce
them as vices in his story of the three men who band together to find death and kill

You have as much right as the rich and the mighty. Don t hesitate to satisfy your
needs; indeed, expand your needs and demand more. This is the worldly doctrine of
today. And they believe that this is freedom. The result for the rich is isolation and
suicide, for the poor, envy and murder. ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the Brothers
Karamazov.
The Pardoner and the men in his tale do the opposite of what the bible says.
1 Timothy 6:9 11, Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and
into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man

In this, the condemnation is clear for the way the Pardoner lives his life, not matter
how appealing it is to him.

Low And Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence
Low and Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Critique
Steiger, Allemand, Robins, and Fend (2014) hypothesized that not only the level but
also the change in self esteem affect depression. Using data from over a 23 year
span, they investigated adolescent level and change in self esteem and examined
their predictive effects on adult depressive symptoms two decades later. Self esteem
was assessed annually from age 12 to 16, and depression was assessed at age 16 and
35. Subsequently, they found that results demonstrated that both the level and change
in self esteem served as predictors for adult depression (Steiger et al., 2014).

The participants rated each item on a scale consisting of 0 for disagree, and 1 for

domain specific self esteem was also measured. This was a measurement of physical
appearance and academic competence. Subsequently, each self esteem domain was
measured with six items. Participants rated each item on a scale consisting of 0 for
not true and 1 for true for me. The items were then added to create scores ranging
from 0 to 6. Further still, depression at age 16 was measured using 13 items from
the original Beck Depression Inventory, while depression from age 12 15 was not
measured (Steiger et al., 2014). Subsequently, participants were asked how often
they had experienced depressive symptoms during the preceding week. The
participants were informed to indicate which sentence out of four possible answers
reflected their feeling most accurately. In adulthood, seven items from the Beck
Depression Inventory were used to measure depressive symptoms. The Participants
were asked how often they typically experience depressive symptoms. Participants
rated each item on a 6 point scale. Consequently, Steiger et al. (2014) controlled for
three variables when examining the effects of self esteem on depression. First, they
controlled for peer popularity when examining the effect of global self esteem. Peer
popularity was rated through peers of the same school and
Prometheus Bound
Visual Analysis: Prometheus Bound Peter Paul Rubens painting, Prometheus Bound,
is a large oil painting on canvas currently on display at the Philadelphia Museum of
Art. The painting is approximately sized at eight by seven feet and portrays the Greek
Titan Prometheus chained to a cliff as his liver is eaten by an eagle. Rubens captures
and allows the viewer to experience the most dramatic and gruesome moment of the
myth, when the majestic bird attacks the Titan, by implementing the tenebrism
technique, a unique composition and perspective, and symbolism. PrometheusBound

For example, in the myth, Prometheus steals fire from the gods to give to the
struggling humans, which ultimately led to the progression of humanity. The
flaming torch in the bottom left is a symbol and attribute for Prometheus, however
it also represents his crime. Also, according to the myth, when Zeus, the king of
the gods, discovers that the Titan defied his orders and stole the fire from Olympus,
he punished Prometheus by expelling him Olympus, chaining him to the top of a
mountain, and sentencing him to have his liver eaten by an eagle every day for all
eternity. The eagle, however, is not just a part of the story. The predatory bird is a
symbol of Zeus in Greek mythology. Another symbol for Zeus is storm clouds,
because he is the god of the sky and lightning. In the painting, the sky is full of dark
grey and tumultuous storm clouds, which may represent Zeus anger at the Titan,
while also conveying a serious tone. The painting also reveals green land in the
distance and far below the peak of the mountain. Rubens may have included the green
scenery in the background, behind the cliffs and Prometheus to emphasize the Titan s
isolation from the rest of the world as part of his punishment. The chains in the
painting also convey a sense of isolation,

Some risk factors that can contribute to teen pregnancy are early sexual activity,
early use of drugs and alcohol, family conflict and being raised in a single family

level can also results in teen pregnancy (youth, n.d.) I find in my research that
people who are exposed to family members, friends or social contacts who smoke

peer group pressure, and influence from the tobacco companies (Freedman, Nelson,

Analysis Of Do The Right Thing
A Mirror To See Injustice
A mirror can not lie. It reflects an exact image of whoever looks into it. It shows a
person what works and what is in desperate need for change, which means that a
decision must be made every time one comes upon their reflection accept what is
seen or take the steps to make the change. Spike Lee gave the world a mirror when
he created the film Do the Right Thing. He showed the world exactly much change is
needed. The body of society is wrinkled with centuries of injustice, scarred with
generations of suffering, and burdened with lifetimes of painful memories. Society
is in need of healing. Lee shows us how to go about this healing by using a cycle of
agitation and resolution in each pair of scenes. In order to begin to solve America s
race problem the conversation must have a balance of agitation and resolution.
What is agitation? Agitation is categorized as extreme emotional disturbance. The
marxists believe, It is like a sharp knife seeking to expose and make raw a glaring
contradiction and draw blood around it (Saba 1). Lee uses this weapon to open old
wounds before the film even begins. Before the title sequence the audience is
reminded of a strategy for healing which ultimately failed. A 40 Acres and a Mule
Filmworks Production flashes across the screen. The idea of 40 acres was created
as a weak attempt to give reparations to former slaves after the civil war. The United

The Adaptation Of The Opposable Thumb
The opposable thumb is an adaptation that is present in humans, non human primates
such as chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, old world monkeys. Opossums and giant
pandas.
Most primates have opposable thumbs
By definition an opposable thumb is A thumb that can be placed opposite the fingers
of the same hand. Opposable thumbs allow the digits to grasp and handle objects
An opposable thumb is one which can oppose the rest of the digits on the same hand
and can allow pad to pad touching.
The thumb is the only digit that can face the other fingers and enables its grip to
hold objects which it would be unable to do otherwise (Wikipedia)
Opposable thumb can simultaneously flex, abduct and medially rotate (pollex)
Bring tip into opposition with other digits
This is done by a sellar (saddle shaped_ joint between the wrist bone that supports the
thumb and the first metacarpal
This allows approx 45* range of rotation along thumbs own axis
Other primates also have this pollical opposability
It is often said that the evolution of an opposable thumb has led to development of
tools.

Impact Of Hernan Cortes
No other man has had a greater effect on the forming of Mexico, but Hernan Cortes.
Born in 1485 in Medellin from western Spain. Hernan Cortes is still relevant today
because of the large impact he made on today s North, South and Central America.
He was also one of the only people to eradicate a civilisation completely. Although he
made massive impacts in the Americas that are still felt today, it was not the only
place that he had significant impacts on. He also had massive impacts on his home
country Spain. To the Aztecs (indigenous Mexican people that are no longer around
today) he was a villain, a murderer. But to the Spanish he was a hero who conquered
the land of Mexicofor the Spanish and lead a great army to victory.
In 1511, Hernan Cortes first served as a soldier on an expedition to Cuba. He then
helped establish a town in Cuba called Bayamo . This was one of his first main
impacts on the Americas that is still felt today. After 7 years Diego Valasquez
named Cortes Captain of an expedition to Mexico, but they had an argument and
Valasquez revoked Cortes status. Cortes ignored orders and traveled to Mexico
anyways with about 500 men and 11 ships. His focus was to overthrow the Aztec

Assess The Difference Between Male And Female Sex
Offenders
Differences between Male and Female Sex Offenders
There are typologies specific to female sex offenders, because they are less likely to
sexually reoffend in comparison with male offenders. Nevertheless, male offenders
are less likely to commit sexual assaults with the co offender or even a group
(Williams Bierie, 2015). Females taking an active role in the abuse are frequently
engaged in direct sexual contact with the victim. The passive participation of women
does not end with the direct sexual contact, but in this case, they observe the abuse
without intervening (Mancini, 2014). The major difference between the female and
male offenders typologies is in the presence of a co offender, the motivation of the
offense, and the age of the

officers there had influenced and changed their lives for the better. How these
workers had taught my friends to cook, helped with homework, worked with them
through treatments and played basketball with them. To hear that with the positive
influence of these people, their lives were drastically changed for the better, is
incredibly inspiring to me. Growing up, I had my fair share of rough times. I made
many mistakes and poor choices, luckily none ending up with me being in trouble
with the law. I feel that juvenile correctional workers are really given the
opportunity to make people s lives better. They re given the opportunity to be a
sense of hope and strength and even support, for children and young adults who need
some kind of intervention to get them on the right track in life. Juveniles need
positive structure, while being pushed to understand that there is possibility of
change, if they do so choose to take that road. To be an aid in that, would be an
incredible opportunity to
Essay On Water Pollution
Chapter One
The Problem and Its Setting
Water is essential to life. It provides an efficient way to transfer substances from a
cell to the cell s environment. Which is why there is usually no positive impacts
when referring to water pollution as it is a major global problem. Water pollution
is the contamination of water bodies. It exist as a result of harmful substances being
inserted into water bodies whether purposely or accidently. When observed it has an
affect on the entire ecological system, and most occurrences negatively impact
whole species as it is the leading cause of death and disease. On account of water
being an vital component of life on Earth, if it is indeed contaminated, it will deplete
the health of the plant and every living thing on it.
Background of the Study
Water pollution can affect the macroinvertebrates that live in the water and they can
become contaminated. When the consumption of influenced macroinvertebrates
occur and travel throughout the food chain based around the body of water, toxins
that contaminated the supply are now spread. The water quality can determine which
type of macroinvertebrates inhabit the bodies of water because there are pollution
sensitive and pollution tolerant macroinvertebrates. If the bodies of water are only
inhabited by pollution tolerant macroinvertebrate that suggest that the water is highly
contaminate and those are the only macroinvertebrates that can survive there.
Although, if there is a balance of both
The Uk Central Bank
Summary
It is known that the UK central bank has given more attention toward inflation rate
than unemployment rate. Due to the recession in year 2008, the quantitative easing
has been implemented and both inflation and unemployment rates target have been
achieved. Recently, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has voted to maintain
the interest rate at 0.5% to attain price stability and to focus on maintaining inflation
rather than unemployment. Contradictory, this has subsequently led to a downward
trend of the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate is not too high compared to
other countries but they are still an issue that needs to be acknowledge. The
government may tackle the issue by adjusting the target for inflation and
unemployment that will bring UK economy to its full potential.
Introduction
After the economic recession in 2008, the Bank of England(BoE) s MPC had
chosen to practice quantitative easing (QE) in March 2009 which is lowering the
bank rate to 0.5%. This form of monetary policy is chosen as the solution by aiming
price stability, economic growth and reach the inflation target of 2% (Bank of
England). According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), UK s current
inflation rate, Consumer Prices Index (CPI) stands at 0.1% as at September 2015
and the unemployment rate has decreased by 0.3% from (April June 2015) to 5.3%
(July September 2015) while the employment rate, for those working at the age from
16 and 64 was 73.7% for July to September
The Sustainability Of Volkswagen
Executive Summary:
Sustainability is defined as maintaining the right balance between the economic
growth, environment and social responsibility.
Introduction to the company:
Volkswagen group, has been regarded as the world s largest automobile industry and
for right reasons. The company has 12 big brand names under its name, them being:
Volkswagenpassenger cars, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, SEAT, MAN, Scania, Volkswagen
Commercial Vehicles, Ducati, Lambhorghini, Bentley and Bugatti. It is
headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany with its manufacturing plants scattered all
over the world. It also aims on becoming the world s top most employer of the world
in its long run goals.
Initially Volkswagen was known as one of the most sustainable company around the

Technology:
On the technological front, we recommend that Volkswagen should develop sensors
which could effectively determine the emission levels. For example, Oxygen sensors
are a standard equipment on passenger cars and light truck engines.
They should develop new ultra sensitive sensors that will detect the car s speed and
according adjust the system to reduce the fuel consumption. This will lead to the
reduction in the carbon footprints left by the cars manufactured by the company.
Volkswagen should also make changes to its existing diesel enginetechnology .
These strategies are in line with the UN goal 9 Industry, Innovation Infrastructure.
3. Operations:
We advice Volkswagen to consider and incorporate some of the manufacturing style
used by Toyota Co. as per the operation environment of Volkswagen:
Kaizen: Volkswagen should consider the process of continuous improvement with all
the tasks involved being precisely defined and standardized.
Jidoka: Will help in designing equipment and processes to stop and call attention to
problems immediately when they sense a problem is a central concept of Volkswagen.
These strategies are in line with the UN goal 12 Responsible Consumption and
Production.

The Health Care Of The Public Health Field
I became drawn to the health care field during my teenage years, when I was
diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease affecting various joints.
As I went through years of treatment, my physician and other medical professionals
were profoundly helpful and motivational in keeping a positive attitude. They were
also inspirational as I saw the genuine goodness that they felt from helping people. As
a result of all the help and emotional support that I received from these medical
providers throughout my youth, I have chosen to pursue a career in the service of
others through the public healthfield. My career goal is to be a health care system
policy analyst at the federal level while being employed by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention.
Every person should have access to affordable and quality health care service. I wish
to be involved in the recommendation and implementation of future health care policy
changes in reference to preventive medicine that will improve the overall quality and
affordability of care for all individuals. Through public health, positive changes in the
individual can lead to constructive health lifestyle modifications in the community
and then society as a whole.
Encouraging people to become more engaged in their own health and the health of
others is another goal of mine. Confronting the experience of being diagnosed with
rheumatoid arthritis at a young age and the subsequent treatment that went along
with it taught me how

Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors and Plautus Menaechmi and Amphitruo
One of Shakespeare s earliest plays (its first recorded performance in December
1594), The Comedy of Errors has frequently been dismissed as pure farce,
unrepresentative of the playwright s later efforts. While Errors may very well
contain farcical elements, it is a complex, layered work that draws upon and
reinterprets Plautine comedy. Shakespeare combines aspects of these Latin plays
with biblical source material, chiefly the Acts of the Apostlesand the Pauline Epistle
to the Ephesians. While Menaechmi is the most frequently cited classical source for
Errors, Plautus Amphitruo is just as relevant an influence; Shakespeare s treatment of

Egeon s woeful tale provides the audience with the appropriate background to the
play, which begins in medias res, thus satisfying the requirements of narratio which
constitute the first element of Evanthian and Donatian comic structure. That said,
Shakespeare s prologue differs remarkably from its Plautine counterparts В much
more integrated with the play as a whole, it is framed by the revelation of Egeon s
imprisonment in Ephesus, and the Duke s decree that:
...if any Syracusian born
Come to the bay of Ephesus, he dies,
His goods confiscate to the Duke s dispose,
Unless a thousand marks be leviГЁd
To quit the penalty and to ransom him.
The gravity of Egeon s predicament, and the play s potential for tragedy, is rendered
even more poignant by the senex s constant grief. In direct contrast, the prologue of
Menaechmi is witty, urbane, and very informal. Not only does the speaker slyly
mock the audience ( Please listen with your whole attention span; / I ll tell it in the
very fewest words I can ), he delivers a rather sharp jab to other Roman comic
playwrights, who proudly boast of their authenticity and their fidelity to the Greek
models, a practice which evidently had some snob appeal. Ironically, this jab seves as
a basis for the playwright to assert his own authenticity and dramatic authority:
I reveal the real locations when I speak to you.
This story s Greekish, but to be exact,
It s not Athenish, it s Sicilyish, in fact.
What Is A Non Traditional Family
It takes a village to raise a child is an African proverb that means a lot to me. Some
families are not traditional, meaning there may be only one parent in the home. I
am a part of a non traditional family. My mother is raising my sister and I as a
single parent. Although I have had moments when I wished both my parents were
in the home, I have had the benefit of being raised by a village. The parts of my life
where my dad s absence left holes, my village filled in. Often times my uncles,
grandfathers and cousins stood in the gaps that were left by my father. When I was
in the second grade my school had a breakfast called Donuts for Dads. This was an
event where all of the students and their fathers would eat donuts before school and

Electronic Technology In Marshall Mcluhan s The Medium
Is...
The major advances in civilization are processes that all but wreck the societies in
which they occur (A.N Whitehead). Marshall Mcluhan, the author of The Medium
is the Massage, would agree to this and add that electronic technology is reshaping
and restructuring patterns of social interdependence and every aspect of our
personal life (McLuhan, 8). He would argue that society has always been shaped
by the medium of the media affecting everything from government to family,
leaving no part of us untouched. Using the alphabet for example, is a technology
which is absorbed at a very early age in a completely unaware manner. Words and
the meaning of words predispose the child to think and act automatically in certain
ways (McLuhan, 8). McLuhan would add that electronic technology does this in
the exact same way, as it encourages unification, involvement, and commitment. As
we grow to learn more about each other, [w]e have become irrevocably involved
with, and responsible for, each other (McLuhan, 24). If we don t conform
McLuhan believes we will eventually enter into an Age of Anxiety , where we ... do
today s job with yesterday s tools with yesterday s concepts (McLuhan, 9). This
causes us to live in a rear view mirror society, and McLuhan says one must use tools
of the present to make sense of the present. George Orwellauthor of 1984 would have
a lot to say about this particular topic for instance, Who controls the past controls the
future. Who controls the
Economic Inequality In Latin America
In today s world many people are faced with the trade off in the good and bad
inequalities. I gathered that there will always be some sort of trade off being there
is no perfect economy. Economics is a science that is theory based, that can claim to
have uncovered few, if any, universal truths. The belief in gaining economic equality
requires sacrificing economic efficiency and vice versa. Most economic ideas
surround the belief that firms and individuals need the higher incomes or wages to
invest, work hard, save and to innovate. And, those that do not have that, results in
reduced effort and lower economic growth. For example some theorist believe that
by raising taxes on profitable firms or wealthy individuals to reduce the economic gap

Also the pay difference between the skilled and unskilled workers. The skill
premium has fallen and the skilled and unskilled workers are making around the
same amount. This pay differential could mean two things: 1. Because of the
increase in the relative supply of skilled workers Latin America can be hopeful of
faster economic growth or 2. With the decline of skilled workers modern, skill
intensive industries are not expanding sufficiently. Because of globalization,
financialization, weaker trade unions, automation and other technological changes,
erosion of minimum wages and changing the norm on acceptable pay gaps within
enterprises, the United States has rising inequality that is still being debated over.
Each drive has a different effect on growth. In closing there will always be some sort
of trade off with an economy. We cannot always assume that greater equality and
better economic performance always goes together. At times there could be good
inequality which could result in substantial economic growth. In theory. Looking at it
analytically, sometimes the best thing to do when there is error is just leave it alone,
because sometimes when you try to fix standard error, you end up making the entire

Thesis Statement On The Accessibility For Children With...
CHAPTER 6: DISCUSSION
In this chapter the results obtained from the analysis of data collected (previous
chapter) are discussed in relation to the aims and objectives of the study. The study
attempts to answer the following research questions:
1.Does Special Needs Education institution comply with the American with Disability
Act 1990/ 2010?
2.Are these institutions accessible to children using wheelchair?
3.Does the year the building was built or renovated affect the accessibility of children
using wheelchair in SEN institutions in Mauritius?
According to Hammel J et al, Building codes, guidelines and standards all provide
minimum level of accessibility. However they do not make accommodation for
everyone, therefore the result showed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first limitation was that during the data collection phase, most of the schools had
already gone on vacation and were close, so there was delay in collecting data.
Many schools did not understand the implication of the study, implying that the study
consisted of evaluating the school environment and not interviewing the students,
thus many had not granted permission as students were on vacation.
Only a checklist was administered, therefore data could not be collected on the
psychological impact of accessibility.
The study focuses only on wheelchair accessibility, other aspects of accessibility was
not worked onto.
The study investigated accessibility of children using wheelchair only, it could have
included other children with disability as well.
Only average and percentage compliance were calculated for every section and
every school and these were represented in table and bar charts only, which is a very
crude way of presenting data.
Some selected sections were measured out of all the features in a school setting,
therefore some were considered more important than
Algeria After Independence Essay
After independence (1962 1999)
The Evian Accords which were signed in 1962 giving Algeria immediate
independence and French aid to help reconstruct the country. The French Sahara with
its oil resources was also handed over to Algeria. In return the FLN guaranteed
protection and civil rights for the French Algerians choosing to remain in the country,
and the option of choosing either French or Algerian nationality after three years.
Eight years of war had shattered Algeria. There had been more than one million
Algerian casualties and nearly two million Algerians had lost their homes. For over a
century the French had deprived the Algerians of any but the most minimal
opportunity to become involved in its infrastructure and institutions. ... Show more

The country s oil resources were developed and an industrial sector was established.
Education and literacy became a focus of concentration and agricultural land reform
continued. In the process the Boumedienne government developed a socialist
political system which was codified in a constitution in 1976. Under the new
constitution Boumedienne was elected president of Algeria and ruled until his death.
However, for all Algeria s accomplishments during this period, imposing authoritarian
one party socialism on a traditional Islamic country was considered a mistake.
When Boumedienne s chosen successor, Colonel Chadli Benjedid, was elected
president of Algeria he began to relax the government s authoritarian practices and
made a genuine attempt to solve some of the country s problems. Benjedid also
pardoned Ahmed Ben Bella in 1980 and released him from house arrest. However, for
all his liberal tendencies, Benjedid was a product of the FLN military elite and was re
elected in 1984 because he ran unopposed.
With the fall of oil prices and the resurgence of Islam, the government s credibility
fell dramatically. The manifest failure of world socialism and the government s
failure to solve the country s increasing social and economic problems, encouraged
more and more Algerians to
Good Will Immanuel Kant
In this essay, I will show that Immanuel Kant is wrong to think that the only thing
good without limitation is the good will. My first step in defending this thesis will
be to review Kant s argument about how the good will is intrinsically good. I will
then try to undermine his view by showing it supports implausible claims. For
example, the premise of Kant s claim is that good will is unconditioned. However,
the good will may depend on outside factors to bring about good in a person. Thus,
I argue that if Kant s theory were true, it would be very difficult to be a good person
as utilitarianism do not allow for acts that go beyond duty. Kant s argument suggests
that good will is the only thing good without qualification. First, Kant begins to
distinguish between things that are good without qualification and things that are
good only under certain qualified conditions. For example, gifts of nature such as
understanding, wit, and judgement, or gifts of fortune such as power, riches, or
honor may be used for the good or bad, and they also have limited... Show more

The person decides that he must jump in and save the person from the river
because he believes it is the morally good thing to do. Although he did not have to
jump in and save the person, he decided to because there was a morally good
reason to do so, and it was an act that went above the call of duty. Consequently, if
one wants to be a good person in the world, it would be implausible for someone to
put their own duty above feelings in their intentions, as that would seem to make
the act insensitive. Therefore, if someone does a kind act for someone else, they
are doing it because it is a morally good action and in contrast to Kant, not
necessarily because it is a morally right action, as people do good for others because
they feel positive towards the end
Lady Gaga And Pop Culture
From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in
many ways. After her 2008 hit single Just Dance the singer quickly gained fame for
her unique techno pop music. From there on she has acquired a huge following
and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer then used the newly
popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love
themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born
This Way Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her
music and social media account to influence her fans, she also made a broad
fashion statement to motivate her fans to be weird, different, and unique. Many
people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red carpet in, while
others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she s worn over the years. Over the
last nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music,
spreading kindness, and walking the streets wearing memorable outfits. Stefani

Tropical Cyclones in Australia
Location: Tropical cyclones occur in the northern part of Australia, around the
periphery, or in the tropics. The areas most affected by tropical cyclones are
Queensland and Western Australia, with New South Wales being one of the states
rarely affected. The season for tropical cyclones in the southern hemisphere is from
November to April.
What is a tropical cyclone: Tropical cyclones are a type of low pressure systems
which generally form in the tropics. They are violent storms, which rotate anti
clockwise. Cloud and wind rotates a calm central area, in the tropics (area north or
south of the equator) and causes damage to people s properties, death, destruction of
recourses, and leaves people severely injured. Tropical cyclones occur ... Show more

State/Territory: The responsibilities vary in the different levels of government, the
state has to deal with such issues as schooling (public schools), making sure that
each child has an education; if a cyclone where to hit their responsibility would be
also for the repair and maintenance of the schools. Also policing would be an issue
the state/ territory would have to deal with, making sure our criminal system is in
order, and by trying to prevent as little crime if a cyclone where to struck. Main
roads, and traffic would be a very important matter it would have to deal with, due to
uneven roads, no traffic lights, unstable ground if a cyclone where to come.
Federal: The federal responsibilities include the supervising of the local and state
/territory, making sure that they do their job to help people get through the
misfortune of a cyclone. They also have the task of quarantine, and hospitalizing the
injured. In the case of a cyclone they would also have to manage the imports of
supplies to the homeless, the Medicare and wellbeing of the people that were put
through that ordeal.
How do cyclones occur or form?
For a cyclone to develop its form, stages take place for this natural hazard to occur:
Stage zero The temperature of the ocean/sea has to be 26.5В°C or over, during this
stage a low pressure system starts to gather clouds and become very stormy.
Continuous cloud build up occurs, during the night and day, due to the sun assisting
to heat ocean/sea in
Understanding the Realtion Between Math and Music Essay
Math and Music: An Introduction and Mathematical Analysis
Galileo Galilei once said that the entire universe is written in the language of
mathematics . Then, it is not surprising to learn that music is closely related to math.
The mathematical application in music will be discussed in this essay.
Rhythm and Frequency To understand the relation between math and music, the
primary step is to study the nature of rhythm, frequency and amplitude. Everything
around us has its own pattern of rhythm, from the motion of protons and neutrons, to
the beats in rock music. According to Garland (1995), rhythm is determined by the
periodicity of vibration of certain object in its surrounding substance, or medium (p.
28). The vibration is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amplitude refers to the distance from crest or trough of the wave to its equilibrium
position. Garland (1995) stated, frequency is a term that describes the number of
waves, or vibrations, that pass a given point per second (p. 28). It is inversely
proportional to the wavelength, which is the distance of one wave cycle. Frequency
can be evaluated in the pitch of a tone: a higher pitch has a higher frequency. A simple
tone has constant frequency and amplitude, and its graph is similar to a sine curve.
Tones that are more complicated result from combinations of several simple curves.
The smallest pure tone frequency in complex tunes is called fundamental frequency.
Integer multiples of the fundamental frequency make the resultant tone musical.
The graph below shows the frequency data from A3 to A4 key. Note that A4 key has
twice as much frequency as A3 key, because any two keys that are one octaveapart
have the frequency ratio of 2:1. Further inspection shows that two adjacent notes are
in the ratio of 1.059...
For example:
Freq. of A#3 / freq. of A3 = 233.1 Hz / 220 Hz = 1.059...
Freq. of C4 / freq. of B3 = 261.6 Hz/ 246.9 Hz = 1.059...
Freq. of G4 / freq. of F#4 = 392.0 Hz / 370.0 Hz = 1.059...
The examples show that the frequency of any note is a product of the frequency of
the adjacent note before it and the constant number 1.059.
Proof:
Let an octave start from key A. The ratio of frequency between adjacent keys is h.

No, I don t think that the consumers are really the king. According to my point of
view actually only those consumers are king who have huge amount to spend or
you cn sy that who have more time n money to waste. A local consumer cn never
be the king. Here is an expl: like if a person purchase a refrigerator. After some days
he/she noticed that the refrigerator is not the 1st one it is a second hand machine n
also not working properly. Then the person goes to that stor from where he/she
purchased it. Guess what! the stor man refuged to take that machine back, and instid
of taking back he is blaming the customer.
After that the person goes to the company of that machine. Same thing happens with
him/her at that place. At last after no option is avilable he/she goes to the consumer

No Greater Love by Danielle Steel is about bearing burden of life. The dissertation

story, thus guaranteed the work s being so real, the work mirrors the real world.
Speaking of this work we tried to put our opinion of the hard life writing this

that the work is historical fiction, this is Steel s one of her two novels about Titanic
where life becomes heavy burden for heroines caused by Titanic disaster. As it was

topics to be discussed are inclusive of the children capabilities in terms of their social

Creativity is ideally not a requirement in problem solving but creative production is
a situation that needs problem solving. Individuals who are creative are able to
solve problems in a more innovative, appropriate manner and high quality. Art
activities help children face technical, interpersonal and contextual problems,
following critical thinking skills the children can make choices among a variety of
possible solutions (Pitri, E. 2013). Children who solve problems using creative
thinking skills to solve problems are usually focused on the task and they

The Negative Effects Of Land Grabbinging In Africa
As food prices in the developed world rise, many corporations and governments look
towards Africa as the solution to the impending crisis. Transnational land purchasing
commonly known as land grabbing occurs in Africa on a massive scale. Though
numbers vary, some sources put the amount of land sold at over seven million
hectares (Aryeetey 2010). However, concerns have been raised about the effects of
such land grabbing on both local populations and the environment. As the negative
impact land grabbing poses to both citizens and the environment of Africabecomes
evermore clear, decisive national and international governmental policy must be
implemented; in order for such policy to be effective, it must acknowledge the
complex interconnected nature of the population, the government, and the
environment (Giddings 2002). Land grabbing in Africa has a measurable negative
effect on people living in povertyin the region, particularly on women. This is due to
women s historical lack of property rights. Furthermore, the underdeveloped state of
many African nations means that for many poor and vulnerable people, their land
title is customary (Bloomer 2012) meaning that they have no formal documentation
despite having lived on the plot often for generations. These customary land rights are
often not recognized by international governmental associations, resulting in large
swaths of land being reported as unoccupied. Even recent attempts to recognize
customary land
The Parable Of The Wedding Feast
The parable of the wedding feast in Matthew takes place during the earthly ministry
of Jesus in Jerusalem. Chapter 21 begins with Jesus entry into Jerusalem in the midst
of a crowd shouting Hosanna to the Son of David. The next scene shows Jesus going
into the temple to drive out money chargers and overthrowing their business in order
to heal the blind and lame. This encounter outranges the chef priest and scribes so
after Jesusreturns to Jerusalem the next day and enters the temple, they challenge him
in verse 23 by asking, By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave
you this authority? to which Jesus responds with my answering their question with a
question. In this case, it is on the baptism of john. It is at this point
Suicidal Gertrude In Hamlet
The possibility of a suicidal Gertrude is an intriguing one. One s first impression of
her is that of a slightly oblivious peacemaker, as she tries to console Hamlet out of
his grief in 1.2. But the regular lack of appreciation, or reciprocation, from Hamlet is
the source of a significant detriment to her throughout the play. Her son continually
casts her off and degrades her as a punishment for the mere thought of her being
sexual. (Any textual reason for him to even think of her and Claudius in that context
is debatable, as all conversations with them are tame and merely mildly affectionate.)
Gertrude evidently becomes aware of why Hamlet is upset fairly quickly, slightly
dispelling the earlier notion of cluelessness. ( I doubt it is no other but the main, his
father s is death and our o erhasty marriage 2.2.56 7) The disappointment and
defeated tone of this line is palpable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thou turn st my eyes into my very soul, and there I see such black and grained

Thou hast cleft my heart in twain (p.94, 3.4.156) are lines also worth mentioning,
Gertrude perfectly articulates her plight her downfall is her love of Hamlet, who has
turned vindictively on her. Gertrude s wording suggests that Hamlet was not always
so cruel. It is likely the death of the king spurred this new, harsh person into
Case Study Sony
RESTRUCTURING SONY The electronics and media giant Sony was struggling
through the late 1990s and early part of the 21st century. With each disappointment, it
seemed that Sony s management launched another restructuring of the company. By
2003, commentators were beginning to ask whether restructuring was part of the
solution or part of the problem. How should Sony be managing its strategic
renewal? Introduction For the first quarter ending 30 June 2003, Japan based Sony
Corporation (Sony)2 stunned the corporate world by reporting a decline in net profit
of 98 per cent. Sony reported a net profit of ВҐ9.3 million compared to ВҐ1.1 billion
for the same quarter in 2002. Sony s revenues fell by 6.9 per cent to ВҐ1.6 trillion for

Each business division was in turn split into product groups. The electronics
business division was split into four product groups, which produced a wide variety
of products. The entertainment division, which consisted of the music group and
the pictures group, made music videos and motion pictures. The finance division
consisted of Sony s life insurance and finance business. The company s growth was
propelled by the launch of innovative products and by its foray into the music and
films business. Restructuring of electronics business (1994) Under Ohga s
leadership, Sony witnessed negligible growth in sales during 1990 and 1994. Sales
and operating revenues improved by only 2 per cent during that period. However, the
net income and operating income registered a drastic fall of 87 per cent and 67 per
cent respectively. Analysts felt that the stagnation in the electronics industry coupled
with factors such as the recession in the Japanese economy and the appreciation of
the yen against the dollar led to the deterioration in the company s performance. It
was noticed that in the electronics business (see Table 3), the revenues of the video
and audio equipment businesses were coming down or were at best stagnant, while
the television and Others group were showing signs of improvement. The Others
group, which consisted of technology intensive products such as computer products,
video games,
Ming Dynasty Soldiers
Consisting of 112 men the Ming Dynasty was the Chinese military. The soldiers of
Ming Dynasty were chosen at birth and it was an inherited job. The motivation for
the soldiers was survival.
The soldiers of Ming Dynasty had very little to no protection. Some archers would
ride on horses or lancers. Lancers were soldiers of cavalry regiment armed with
lances and a lance was a long weapon for thrusting, having a wooden shaft and a
pointed a steel head, formerly used by horseman in charging. The archers would
have shields to protect them while riding the horses. That tactic had only worked for
a certain amount of time before enemies started to get better strategies. Sabers
would be carried by cavalry but were never used. Horse archers as
Compare And Contrast Tecumseh And Tenskwatawa
Tecumseh and Tenskwatawa leaders of the American Indian involvement together
helped create a powerful organization among native Indians. Tecumseh, a powerful
political and military leader is the most recognized of the two, but it was the
combining of their knowledge that made them particularly powerful. Tenskwatawa
provided a helpful vision to launch a much broader Indian movement, he used
traditional native beliefs while combining religion to call for an Indian resistance
against the Americans. He was able to unify the American Indians by turning his life
around, which in turn he used his religion to gather many Indians, his faith helped
him restore peace within the Indian community. Tecumsehunified the native Indians
by using political and military strategies to convince the native people of what he was
trying to accomplish with his movement. His energy helped natives by giving them
someone with a voice. Tecumseh never compromised, which made him the powerful
leader that he was.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He turned his life around which in turn gave a new found light to the Indian
people. For the rest of his life he would be known as Tenskwatawa, the open door a
name that was used because of the new role he obtained as the religious leader of
the native people. He wanted the Indians to go back to their traditional values and
more importantly rely on the food, clothing and equipment used by their ancestors.
Tenskwatawa used religion to unify the American Indians by going around town to
town and introducing the natives to his practicing. His teaching assured them that
the master of life had not forgotten his children, and if they would follow
Tenskwatawa they would, indeed be revitalized. With the faith that he gained he was
able to restore peace and order in the world full of chaos that the Indians were

Policies were impacted by the exit of National Liberal Party [PNL] in 2014 from the
principal coalition. As the new government s economic policies focused on engaging
in populist measures the country s economy is struggling. International Monetary

Cooperative Federalism In Texas
Federalism has evolved throughout American history. At different points in time, the
balance and boundaries between the national and state government have changed
substantially (resulting in the dual federalism, cooperative federalism etc.). Dual
federalism which can also be referred to as divided sovereignty draws a clear
distinction between federal and state governments, with the state government
exercising the powers given to them without the influence of the federal government.
It can further be supported by the Tenth Amendment which states, The powers not
delegated to the United Statesby the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States,
are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people. Cooperative Federalismis
defined as the cooperative functioning of the state, national and local governments.
The American ensemble functions according to the New Dual Cooperative
Federalism.
Federalism makes most policies lean more locally. States could tailor policy to fit
their specific needs. For example, Texas has a very different social welfare system
even under the supervision of the central federal system. As the state has populations,
wealth, resources, etc.,
Texas is a prime example of the state constitutions in general. Ever since the

Post Colonial Perspective In Ice Candy Man
Post colonial Perspective on Partition
Sidhwa makes it clear in Ice Candy Man, that although Muslims and Hindus are living
together for centuries, the high social and cultural barriers separating them remain
unchanged. A Hindu would not even touch his food in the presence of a Muslim. A
Muslim entering a Hindu kitchen would pollute it. Lenny describes this incident
when the food of a Brahmin priest is polluted by the shadow of non Hindus (116
117). So there were ideological boundaries between Muslims and Hindus despite the
fact that they lived on a same land.
Through out the narrative we see a cultural, moral and religious tension between
characters. Sidhwa shows through the narrator that the wife of Balbir Singh would

Sidhwa makes the Muslim protagonist, Ice Candy Man, disgrace, shame, humiliate
and ruin Shanta (India). Led by Ice Candy Man, the Muslims abduct and manhandle
Ayah (India) while she is in a condition of shock and trauma at the hands of her one
time lover (183). The punishment given to Hindu Shanta, by her one time Muslim
lover is more than a personal and isolated act of violence. The Hindu Ayah is a
symbol of India and she is abducted and taken away by the Muslims against her
will. Sidhwa, instead of revealing her Pakistani identity, and presenting Pakistani
perspective, questions the Muslim demand for Partition after centuries of their rule
over India. She presents it as the worst betrayal. The fact that Ayah is taken to the
red light district, is meant to show the disgrace and shame heaped upon Shanta
(India) by her own lovers. Sidhwa is suggesting that Ayah (India) deserved a better
treatment from her one time lover and wooer, Ice Candy Man, the Muslim. This is
the worst one can expect from the lovers towards their beloveds, both at the personal
and public

Author: Isuri Rajapaksa
Faculty Sponsor: Katrina J. Quinn
Abstract:
This case study examines the community relations efforts of Nike Inc. This project
gives an overview of the company and shows how the community relations programs
can be developed globally. It also consists of the comparison between Nike and Toms.
Finally this case study also includes and insight on an interview, suggestions and an
evaluation.
Nike is a multinational corporation founded by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman in
1964. Nike produces, markets and sells athletic footwear, apparel and other
accessories. Even though they have a great reputation with their products, Nike is
not seen as a good corporate citizen. Nike does not have enough campaigns that
they do globally, especially in Asia after allegedly being accused of Violating
Labour Laws in 1996. Nike was involved in Child labour. The only active campaign
they have running globally is the Active Schools Campaign.
There are many strategies and tactics that Nike could use to build back their
reputation and regain the consumer base they lost when this issue started. With the
large social media platforms Nike has, They are able to show the campaigns that they
do and the causes that they believe in.
Toms being a smaller company compared to Nike, do so much more for the
community they have many corporate social responsibility programs. Nike still
The Life and Times of Lucille Ball Essay
The Life and Times of Lucille Ball
Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love
yourself to get anything done in this world. That quote was one that Lucille Ball
lived by throughout her twisted and turbulent life. As one of the most recognized
faces in the world, she is known to millions simply as Lucy. She went from waitress
and salesgirl to model to Goldwyn Girl to radio clown to an unlikely leading lady in
a ground breaking sitcom that is still seen in regular syndicated reruns more than 40
years after the series ended. Beyond being a television legend, she was the first
woman president of a major Hollywood studioВ—a studio she co founded. This is the
life and times of Lucille Ball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nervous and shy in a large city she despised, she lasted only six weeks at the school
and returned home to Celoron. While waiting for her big break, Ball modeled
under the name Diane Belmont until she was virtually bedridden for three years
by rheumatoid arthritis. After her recovery, she returned to New York and was
chosen by Liggett and Myers to promote cigarettes as the Chesterfield Girl. Her
entrance into the film industry came about when she accidentally ran into Sylvia
Hahlo, a local theatrical agent, while walking up Broadway one day. Hahlo
informed her of an opportunity to appear in Roman Scandals (1933), produced by
Samuel Goldwyn. Ball auditioned and was hired as one of the twelve Goldwyn
Girls , though it was a small part as a slave girl. Despite her talent, it was quite
possible that Ball might never have progressed beyond a little known actress if it
weren t for meeting Desi Arnaz, a Cuban bandleader. He made his way to
Hollywood in 1939 where on the set of RKO Studios, while filming Too Many
Girls (1940), Ball and Arnaz met; they were married on November 30, 1940, less
than a year later. The Ball Arnaz marriage was turbulent to say the least; their careers
necessitated long periods of separation and Desi had a fondness for liquor and
women. Hoping to have

  • 2. A Study On Stones River National Battlefield The historical site I selected as the subject of my study was Stones River National Battlefield. This paper concerns my experience researching the site, in addition to my experience visiting the site. First, I will explain my reason for choosing the site. Second, I will discuss preparation for my visit. Third, I will give a description of the site. Fourth, I will explain what makes the site historic. Fifth, and finally, I will discuss my impressions of the site. A number of years ago, I performed for the Williamson County Historical Society in Nolensville, Tennessee. The primary speaker at the event was Larry Hicklen, owner of the Civil War relic store Yesteryear, which is near Stones River National Battlefield. He was discussing Nolensville s involvement in the Civil War. He encouraged me to visit his store, as well as the battlefield. Unfortunately, as a college student, my free time is limited. Therefore, I found few opportunities to visit either location. I took this assignment as a chance to visit the battlefield, having previously been to the Carter House, the Hermitage, and Sam Davis Home, being well familiar with the last of these locations due to my having performed Civil War era music there numerous times. I was, unfortunately, largely unfamiliar with the events of the Battle of Stones River, despite being a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. I searched for information about the battle in four different American history books in my possession, two of which
  • 3. Wine Industry Analysis The US winery industry had a growth rate of 4.7% between 2006 and 2011, and is expected to grow by a rate of 4.9% over the next five years [ (IBISWorld) ]. In California alone an average of 175 wineries have opened every year since 2000 [ (Richard Green) ]. The states of New York and Virginia have been major players in the US wineindustry. The data shows that the demand for wine has been increasing at an exponential rate over the past 5 years. Average annual revenue for the wine industry is expected to be estimated at $20.2 billion through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ]. The growth of the wine industry, particularly over the past 10 years, can be attributed to a few key drivers in the market. Per capita consumption of alcohol has increased... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These wineries would import large amounts of wine in bulk, and then bottle the wine in the US. This allowed the larger wineries to sell their wine at a considerably cheaper price, hurting the smaller domestic wineries. In 2011, the import market share in wine was roughly 26.5% [ (IBISWorld) ]. The amount of foreign wine entering the US has been on the rise ever since it was named the largest consumer of wine in the world. Foreign producers, who are experiencing a decline in business in their home country, are looking for new markets to sell their product. Countries such as Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand are able to produce their wine at a lower cost than the US. The import of these wines has heated up the competition in the US creating benefits for the US wine consumer. The superior quality of the imported wines has also changed consumers thinking as far as how much should be spent on a good wine. The immediate future looks promising for the wine industry. In 2012, the industry is expected to grow by 4.4%, and will only increase through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ]. The wine industry relies on a three tier distribution system. The producers sell to the wholesalers, who then sell to the retailers. The national sales tier consists of suppliers who sell to a wholesale distributor [ (Tincknell amp; Tincknell) ]. As suppliers continue to consolidate, the larger producers will have the upper hand due to
  • 4. Studies For The Libyan Sibyl Studies for the Libyan Sibyl Studies for the Libyan Sibyl (1510 11) by Michelangelo Buonarroti is the study of male anatomy and is a characteristic example of Michelangelo s late draughtsmanship, and a preparatory sketch for one of the female seers frescoed Libyan figure Sibyl, painted on the Sistine Chapel Ceiling (1508 1512) Rome, Vaticana Palace. MichelangeloBuonarroti (Italian, Caprese 1475 1564 Rome) was a painter, sculptor, architect, poet, engineer as well as a compulsive drawer, of the High Italian Renaissance era, who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. Michelangelo was once quoted saying Design, which by another name is called drawing is the font and body of painting and sculpture and architecture and every other kind of painting and the root of all sciences (Michelangelo And The Mastery Of Drawing). Michelangelo s purpose for Studies for the Libyan Sibyl was not to create a finished piece to please the public or even a person. Studies for the Libyan Sibyl is a 28.9 x 21.4 cm nude Italian Renaissance piece he has distilled both the linear and tonal essence of the form. Drawn with red and white chalk and possibly soft black chalk, or less probably charcoal on paper. The reason Michelangelo drew Studies for the Libyan Sibyl was his way of learning and understanding the elements that were crucial to the elegant resolution of the figure s pose, especially the counterpoint twist of the shoulders and hips and the
  • 5. The World Trade Organization and The Theory of Absolute... Why the famous theory of absolute and comparative advantages did not work when the GATT and WTO were created? In the world of internationalization and globalization, which worships money and encourages ever growing trade, it is very difficult to find a model and further implement it into the modern system so that it would be efficient, eco friendly and yet economically viable for all participants. Most suggested models are in my opinion out of date and do not answer the current world trends and challenges. And surely the trade system we have at the moment cannot claim to be free. Under globalization, all national economies are integrated into one global economy and must obey the laws laid down by a global economic institution currently ... It was also decided that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would mainly focus on short term balance of payments financing (the current account of the balance of payments), while the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) would concentrate on long term lending (the capital account). That function, however, was largely taken over by the Marshall Plan, leaving the World Bank to focus almost entirely on lending for the development of underdeveloped countries. The General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (GATT) was signed in 1947 as a global international organization that specifies and enforces rules for the conduct of international trade policies and serves as a forum for negotiations to reduce tariffs and other barriers to international trade. In 1995, it was replaced by The World Trade Organization (WTO) with a striking 146 members. The WTO is frequently lumped together with the World Bank and IMF, because the three institutions have common policy goals of so called free trade, free capital mobility, and export led growth in other words, globalization [2]. The GATT was only about trade of goods between countries and it s rules focused on tariffs and quotas traditional trade measures. The Career Of A Career For Myself At A Well Reputed Institute Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work Aristotle True to the words of Aristotle, I made the decision to establish a career for myself in the field of technology where my strongest penchant lies. Right from my schooling, I loved computer based projects, working dedicatedly to discover the field and its rich technicalities. The most impressive aspect of the field is programming and coding, which I discovered for the first time through basic coding in C during school. From then on, I have been an avid programmer, utilizing every opportunity that comes my way to innovate and experiment. I have written codes for simple programs in school and designed complex projects based on programming in college. After 4.5 years of professional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basic courses like Computer Programming, Principle of Programming Language, Object Oriented Programming laid the foundation for me to cultivate an advanced knowledge in the field. Having a strong foundation helped me in coping up with highly technical and challenging courses such as Computer Architecture, Compiler Construction and so on. Moreover, as a practice oriented person, I had a natural inclination toward the practical sessions. When it came to programming, I was often found experimenting with algorithms and innovatively worked to bring out the best output. I enjoyed all the programming language lab sessions, including Web programming, C, C++, etc. Considering programming as my forte, I ultimately chose a project that required strong programming skills as well. My final year project, Network Management was based on networking and the process involved in it. In a scenario of multiple systems with one network, we aimed at monitoring and controlling the various processes in all the systems. Ours was the only project based on Networking and involved a fully operating computer network. As part of the project, I developed my acumen in running a computer network, a LAN connecting on LAN and with each other. As a unique project, it involved a lot of innovation and challenges. With a team of ....... students, I was able to work through the technical glitches and setbacks to fabricate a successful project.
  • 7. The Media s Negative Portrayal of African American Males... The Media s Negative Portrayal of African American Males They squirmed, pencils tapping their desks anxiously; none of their papers contained more than five names. Eventually, all thirteen pairs of eyes made their way from the papers, to the faces of their friends, and eventually, they restlessly shifted over to me and stopped. This is hard, whined one seventh grade voice. Another chimed in, It s all the same, I can t think of any more. The question I had asked was simple: Please list as many young African American males that you see on TV as possible. However, the frustration that manifested itself in the room was proof that something was askew. I asked them to read what they had written. Every list was the same combination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And just as the reign of these tyrants appears be coming to an end, another barrier to equality is appearing on the horizon: the media. In my experience, TV in general is doing a huge disservice to any hopes of future racial parity by its extremely unfair portrayal of the young African American male. These young men are literally only shown on TV as sports stars, in the very best cases, and unfortunately most commonly seen as jewel adorned rappers, spewing obscenities, making offensive gestures at the camera, hustling around scantily clad young women as if they are simply commodities, and rapping about having sex and smoking weed. Honestly, in the past few months I have yet to see a young African American male portrayed as thoughtful, analytical, poetic, artistic, or even, sadly enough, remotely intelligent or mature. This might be acceptable if the case was such, but my experience alone proves otherwise. I know plenty of young African American males who are mature beyond their years, and extremely academically inclined. However, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the media industry is either stuck on typecasting these men or deliberately choosing to represent them only as non intellectual people. This is an outrage because inherently it does not allow young African American males to even entertain the idea that they can and should rise above the image of themselves with which they are barraged every day. By promoting these unjust
  • 8. Those Who By Insight Know What Love Is Essay As any romantic will assert, love is by far the most powerful force known to human hearts and minds. This sentiment is espoused throughout history, almost to the point of clichГ©. Everyone has heard the optimistic statement, love conquers all, and The Beatles are certain, however idyllic it may be, that all you need is love. Humanity is convinced that love is unique within human emotion, unequalled in its power to both lift the spirit up in throws of ecstasy, and cast it down in utter despair. Loves power has suggested to many that it serves as a link to the divine, and that the feeling instilled in man by love comes from the supernatural, be it God or otherwise. In La Vita NuovaDante Alighierimakes it clear that he believes in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The physical effect that love has on Dante is apparent whenever he is in its presence, that is, through a vision of Love himself or through being close to Beatrice. In their second encounter, nine years later, Beatrice is walking down the street where Dante is standing in fear and trembling. As she passes him, she greets him, of which he says, Such was the virtue of her greeting that I seemed to experience the height of bliss [...] I was filled with such joy that, my senses reeling, I had to withdraw from the sight of others. (5) It is after this encounter that Dante has his first vision of Love manifested, in which love says to him, Ego dominus tuus, or I am your master. Love is holding Beatrice in his arms, and in one hand, Dante s heart. Love bids Beatrice to eat the heart and then, weeping, the two ascend into heaven. It is clear that Dante is consumed, body and mind, by Love, and sees him as a divine force to which he must submit his will. Just as devout men who feel the influence and power of God within them give up their will and lives to the service of their Lord, so Dante gives himself to Love. So strong is his devotion that his thoughts are entirely consumed by Beatrice. The strain of such a state weighs heavily on Dante, such that his appearance reflects his turmoil and causes his friends to grow concerned. About inquiries into the cause of his pain, Dante says, in obedience to Love s will, [...] I replied that it was Love who had
  • 9. The Pardoner s Tale By Fyodor Dostoyevsky The Pardoner is a man who goes to common people and offers promises of pardon, of healing, and forgiveness, all for a price that is. He openly boasts of all of his deceitful way to all around sharing in the pilgrimage to Canterbury. He then proceeds to tell the entire party of sinful things such as greed, drunkenness, swearing, gambling, lechery, purjory, and gluttony, all of which he is a partaker. The Pardoner s tale and the Pardoner himself are reflections of today s culture. The Pardoner tells the company of people he is with of his vices and he speaks them with pride as if they are not really vices but virtues. He then proceeds to pronounce them as vices in his story of the three men who band together to find death and kill him. They come... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You have as much right as the rich and the mighty. Don t hesitate to satisfy your needs; indeed, expand your needs and demand more. This is the worldly doctrine of today. And they believe that this is freedom. The result for the rich is isolation and suicide, for the poor, envy and murder. ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the Brothers Karamazov. The Pardoner and the men in his tale do the opposite of what the bible says. 1 Timothy 6:9 11, Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. In this, the condemnation is clear for the way the Pardoner lives his life, not matter how appealing it is to him. Sin is like a jail cell, except it is all nice and comfy and there doesn t seem to be any reason to leave. The door is wide open. Until one day, time runs out, and the cell door slams shut, and suddenly it is too late. (God s not
  • 10. Low And Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Low and Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Critique Steiger, Allemand, Robins, and Fend (2014) hypothesized that not only the level but also the change in self esteem affect depression. Using data from over a 23 year span, they investigated adolescent level and change in self esteem and examined their predictive effects on adult depressive symptoms two decades later. Self esteem was assessed annually from age 12 to 16, and depression was assessed at age 16 and 35. Subsequently, they found that results demonstrated that both the level and change in self esteem served as predictors for adult depression (Steiger et al., 2014). Participants rated each item on a scale consisting of 0 for not true and 1 for true for me. The items were then added to create scores ranging from 0 to 6. Further still, depression at age 16 was measured using 13 items from the original Beck Depression Inventory, while depression from age 12 15 was not measured (Steiger et al., 2014). Subsequently, participants were asked how often they had experienced depressive symptoms during the preceding week. The participants were informed to indicate which sentence out of four possible answers reflected their feeling most accurately. In adulthood, seven items from the Beck Depression Inventory were used to measure depressive symptoms. The Participants were asked how often they typically experience depressive symptoms. Participants rated each item on a 6 point scale. Consequently, Steiger et al. (2014) controlled for three variables when examining the effects of self esteem on depression. The painting is approximately sized at eight by seven feet and portrays the Greek Titan Prometheus chained to a cliff as his liver is eaten by an eagle. Rubens captures and allows the viewer to experience the most dramatic and gruesome moment of the myth, when the majestic bird attacks the Titan, by implementing the tenebrism technique, a unique composition and perspective, and symbolism. The flaming torch in the bottom left is a symbol and attribute for Prometheus, however it also represents his crime. Also, according to the myth, when Zeus, the king of the gods, discovers that the Titan defied his orders and stole the fire from Olympus, he punished Prometheus by expelling him Olympus, chaining him to the top of a mountain, and sentencing him to have his liver eaten by an eagle every day for all eternity. The eagle, however, is not just a part of the story. The predatory bird is a symbol of Zeus in Greek mythology. Another symbol for Zeus is storm clouds, because he is the god of the sky and lightning. In the painting, the sky is full of dark grey and tumultuous storm clouds, which may represent Zeus anger at the Titan, while also conveying a serious tone. The painting also reveals green land in the distance and far below the peak of the mountain. Rubens may have included the green scenery in the background, behind the cliffs and Prometheus to emphasize the Titan s isolation from the rest of the world as part of his punishment. The chains in the painting also convey a sense of isolation,

Spike Lee gave the world a mirror when he created the film Do the Right Thing. He showed the world exactly much change is needed. The body of society is wrinkled with centuries of injustice, scarred with generations of suffering, and burdened with lifetimes of painful memories. Society is in need of healing. Lee shows us how to go about this healing by using a cycle of agitation and resolution in each pair of scenes. In order to begin to solve America s race problem the conversation must have a balance of agitation and resolution. What is agitation? Agitation is categorized as extreme emotional disturbance. The marxists believe, It is like a sharp knife seeking to expose and make raw a glaring contradiction and draw blood around it (Saba 1). Lee uses this weapon to open old wounds before the film even begins. Before the title sequence the audience is reminded of a strategy for healing which ultimately failed. Opposable thumbs allow the digits to grasp and handle objects An opposable thumb is one which can oppose the rest of the digits on the same hand and can allow pad to pad touching. The thumb is the only digit that can face the other fingers and enables its grip to hold objects which it would be unable to do otherwise (Wikipedia) Opposable thumb can simultaneously flex, abduct and medially rotate (pollex) Bring tip into opposition with other digits This is done by a sellar (saddle shaped_ joint between the wrist bone that supports the thumb and the first metacarpal This allows approx 45* range of rotation along thumbs own axis Other primates also have this pollical opposability It is often said that the evolution of an opposable thumb has led to development of tools. _________________________________________________________________________ It has been proposed that chimpanzee like apes began to through rocks and swing clubs at adversaries and that this behaviour yielded reproductive advantages. Which is why there is usually no positive impacts when referring to water pollution as it is a major global problem. Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. It exist as a result of harmful substances being inserted into water bodies whether purposely or accidently. When observed it has an affect on the entire ecological system, and most occurrences negatively impact whole species as it is the leading cause of death and disease. On account of water being an vital component of life on Earth, if it is indeed contaminated, it will deplete the health of the plant and every living thing on it. Background of the Study Water pollution can affect the macroinvertebrates that live in the water and they can become contaminated. When the consumption of influenced macroinvertebrates occur and travel throughout the food chain based around the body of water, toxins that contaminated the supply are now spread. The water quality can determine which type of macroinvertebrates inhabit the bodies of water because there are pollution sensitive and pollution tolerant macroinvertebrates. If the bodies of water are only inhabited by pollution tolerant macroinvertebrate that suggest that the water is highly contaminate and those are the only macroinvertebrates that can survive there. Due to the recession in year 2008, the quantitative easing has been implemented and both inflation and unemployment rates target have been achieved. Recently, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has voted to maintain the interest rate at 0.5% to attain price stability and to focus on maintaining inflation rather than unemployment. Contradictory, this has subsequently led to a downward trend of the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate is not too high compared to other countries but they are still an issue that needs to be acknowledge. Introduction After the economic recession in 2008, the Bank of England(BoE) s MPC had chosen to practice quantitative easing (QE) in March 2009 which is lowering the bank rate to 0.5%. • 31. Good Will Immanuel Kant In this essay, I will show that Immanuel Kant is wrong to think that the only thing good without limitation is the good will. My first step in defending this thesis will be to review Kant s argument about how the good will is intrinsically good. I will then try to undermine his view by showing it supports implausible claims. For example, the premise of Kant s claim is that good will is unconditioned. However, the good will may depend on outside factors to bring about good in a person. Thus, I argue that if Kant s theory were true, it would be very difficult to be a good person as utilitarianism do not allow for acts that go beyond duty. Kant s argument suggests that good will is the only thing good without qualification. First, Kant begins to distinguish between things that are good without qualification and things that are good only under certain qualified conditions. For example, gifts of nature such as understanding, wit, and judgement, or gifts of fortune such as power, riches, or honor may be used for the good or bad, and they also have limited... Then, it is not surprising to learn that music is closely related to math. The mathematical application in music will be discussed in this essay. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amplitude refers to the distance from crest or trough of the wave to its equilibrium position. Garland (1995) stated, frequency is a term that describes the number of waves, or vibrations, that pass a given point per second (p. 28). It is inversely proportional to the wavelength, which is the distance of one wave cycle. Frequency can be evaluated in the pitch of a tone: a higher pitch has a higher frequency. A simple tone has constant frequency and amplitude, and its graph is similar to a sine curve. Tones that are more complicated result from combinations of several simple curves. The smallest pure tone frequency in complex tunes is called fundamental frequency. Integer multiples of the fundamental frequency make the resultant tone musical. The graph below shows the frequency data from A3 to A4 key. Note that A4 key has twice as much frequency as A3 key, because any two keys that are one octaveapart have the frequency ratio of 2:1. • 40. The Negative Effects Of Land Grabbinging In Africa As food prices in the developed world rise, many corporations and governments look towards Africa as the solution to the impending crisis. Transnational land purchasing commonly known as land grabbing occurs in Africa on a massive scale. Though numbers vary, some sources put the amount of land sold at over seven million hectares (Aryeetey 2010). However, concerns have been raised about the effects of such land grabbing on both local populations and the environment. As the negative impact land grabbing poses to both citizens and the environment of Africabecomes evermore clear, decisive national and international governmental policy must be implemented; in order for such policy to be effective, it must acknowledge the complex interconnected nature of the population, the government, and the environment (Giddings 2002). Land grabbing in Africa has a measurable negative effect on people living in povertyin the region, particularly on women. This is due to women s historical lack of property rights. Furthermore, the underdeveloped state of many African nations means that for many poor and vulnerable people, their land title is customary (Bloomer 2012) meaning that they have no formal documentation despite having lived on the plot often for generations. These customary land rights are often not recognized by international governmental associations, resulting in large swaths of land being reported as unoccupied. Even recent attempts to recognize customary land

One s first impression of her is that of a slightly oblivious peacemaker, as she tries to console Hamlet out of his grief in 1.2. But the regular lack of appreciation, or reciprocation, from Hamlet is the source of a significant detriment to her throughout the play. Her son continually casts her off and degrades her as a punishment for the mere thought of her being sexual. (Any textual reason for him to even think of her and Claudius in that context is debatable, as all conversations with them are tame and merely mildly affectionate.) Gertrude evidently becomes aware of why Hamlet is upset fairly quickly, slightly dispelling the earlier notion of cluelessness.
