Essay On Scientific Method
Crafting an essay on the topic of the Scientific Method can be a challenging endeavor, requiring
a delicate balance between clarity and complexity. The Scientific Method itself is a systematic
approach to inquiry, comprising a series of steps that guide researchers from observation to
hypothesis, experimentation, analysis, and conclusion. Translating this intricate process into a
coherent and engaging essay demands a thorough understanding of the method's nuances and its
broader implications in the realm of scientific inquiry.
One of the hurdles in composing such an essay lies in effectively communicating the intricate
details of the Scientific Method without overwhelming the reader with technical jargon. Striking
the right balance between providing sufficient depth and maintaining accessibility is crucial. It
requires careful consideration of the target audience and an adept use of language to ensure that
both experts and laypersons can grasp the significance of the method.
Furthermore, addressing the historical evolution of the Scientific Method and its impact on
various scientific disciplines adds another layer of complexity. Delving into the contributions of
renowned scientists, the refinement of experimental techniques, and the continuous evolution of
this method over time requires extensive research and a nuanced approach to presenting
information.
Another challenge is navigating the ethical considerations and potential biases associated with
scientific research. Discussing how the Scientific Method helps mitigate these challenges while
acknowledging its limitations demands a thoughtful and balanced exploration of the topic.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the Scientific Method necessitates not only a strong grasp
of the subject matter but also the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging
manner. It involves weaving together historical context, theoretical underpinnings, and practical
applications while considering the diverse audience that may encounter the essay. While the
process may be demanding, the opportunity to explore and illuminate the intricacies of the
Scientific Method is undoubtedly rewarding.

Charles Lindbergh Quotes
Famous Aviator: Charles A. Lindbergh
By: Simon Crockett :)
My famous Aviator is Charles A. Lindbergh. As Charles once said, Living in dreams
of yesterday, we find ourselves still dreaming of impossible future conquests. Many
people forget what this quote means. I think the quote means that even when you
think you have achieved the impossible, you still find yourself trying to achieve the
impossible. Many of Charles Lindbergh s quotes make him an important aviator
because of how the quote inspire you.
Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902 in Detroit,
Michigan. His parents were Evangeline Lodge Lindbergh and Charles August
Lindbergh. Charles Lindbergh was educated by the University of Wisconsin. Charles
studied mechanical engineering

(Law and Order) We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we re not
savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything. So we ve got to do
the right things. (Golding 42) Explanation: Despite not needing rules the kids
decide they should have them so they don t become savages. In fact, its only when
the rules no longer become important that everything goes downhill. Also, even
though they pride themselves on being English the rest of the book shows that
even the best at everything society to the kids is just one step away from becoming
chaos. (Jack) Jack himself shrank at this cry with a hiss of indrawn breath, and for
a minute became less a hunter than a furtive thing, ape like among the tangle of

how GameStop has differentiated it s value chain, pricing strategy, trade in process,

Value Chain Pricing Strategies
GameStop is familiar with its consumer base and tailors its value chain to provide a
differential product in the marketplace. Game Stop can provide a singular
experience to consumers through having a single stop for customers to cover all
gaming needs. GameStop provides this differential experience through its staff,
gaming publication, extensive inventory and marketing that leans on internal
products. Game Stop extracts value from each business area not only to grow sales,
but also for sustainability. New hardware and games are offered at the store and

Essay about The History and Development of Dennisport
If you re like many of our customers, you ve been coming to Dennisport for years.
Whether your parents brought you, a friend got married here or you stumbled onto
our sandy shores one fateful night, Dennisport has a way of hooking you in and
bringing you back. In the grand scheme of things, the tourism era of Dennisport s
history started relatively recently, but the part of town between Route 28 and
Nantucket Sound has a rich history dating back to the colonial era.
The first settlers descended on the land that was to become Dennis and Dennis Port
in 1639. As a matter of background, the land that is now Dennis was selected not for
its proximity to the ocean, but for its abundance of fresh water ponds and springs. It
is estimated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an odd quirk of history, Dennis was the one of the first towns in America to
manufacture salt! By 1803, there were 24 different salt works operating in town, with
vats totaling more than 19,500 running feet.
After the War, fishing became the dominant industry of the town, and the
Dennisport area benefited greatly. By virtue of its location on Nantucket Sound,
Dennisport hauled ashore thousands of tons through the 1800s. You can see this
seafaring lineage in the architecture of many of the houses along Chase Ave, Depot
Street and other surrounding roads. The widow s walks and cupolas along the
roofs once served a purpose other than enjoying a cocktail while drinking in a
sunset they were lookouts for sea captain s and sailors wives to watch for the return
of their loved ones. Our Admiral s house was once actually home to a sea captain,
and we ve incorporated many of these design features into the Captain s and
Commodore s houses. At one point, the fishing fleet of Dennis brought in almost
7,000 tons of fish annually, a staggering number for the 18th and 19th centuries.
The completion of the Cape Cod Central Railroad was the first truly transformative
event in the village s history. The Cape Cod Branch Railroad, later the Cape Cod
Central Railroad and the Old Colony Railroad, reached the village somewhere around
1863 65, with the South Dennis and later the Bass River stations opening on Great

organized the Patterson Hotel Corporation. Through strenuous promotion they
raised $15 million by selling 15,000 shares of stock at $1,000 per share. They
secured the other $10 million necessary to build the hotel as a loan provided by a
local bank on a 10 year, 14 percent mortgage that called for uniform annual
payments sufficient to pay interest and to extinguish the debt at the end of 10
years. Upon completion, the Patterson Hotel Corporation leased the hotel to a
national company that operated a chain of hotels. The lease ran for 30 years and
contained a clause permitting the lessee to purchase the hotel for $10 million at
the end of the 30 year period. The lessee agreed to furnish the hotel and pay all

Piracy and Copyright Infringement are major issues that have developed through the
use of the Internet and file transfer servers. Developments and advances in these
areas over past two decades have my generation within a mouse click of their

Unfortunately, with each announcement of new protective software, a counter
program almost instantly is created, matched, and supported through counter
hacking technology that makes files available to these large copying networks.
Any person with knowledgeable code in computers is capable of decoding these
files. This desire to liberate files by many hackers is only a sign to show that the
industry should be developing ways to work with the technology and not against it.
The Recording Industry Association of America recently filed lawsuits against four
college students, running ftp servers on campus networks. A federal judge in
California settled the case quickly, and despite the fact that the students never
actually accepted responsibility, they settled to pay $12,000 to $17,500 in fines. A
case that ended without a clearly defined verdict proves that it is difficult to have a
true scapegoat for responsibility of piracy violations and copyright infringement.
The internet is like one gigantic copying machine, says David Nimmer, a lawyer
who spends most of his time with disputes in Intellectual property. Once on the
internet, copying becomes effortless, costless, widespread, and immediate. Nimmer
is an experienced lawyer who is well aware of the easy access to the copied files and
has trouble himself challenging illegality in certain situations. Copyright law does

Mother s Day Gift Ideas
4 Great Mother s Day Gift Ideas
Hallmark and FTD have made a fortune on gift buying for mom on Mother s Day,
but it might be time to move away from the standard bouquet of flowers and the
frilly, glittery card and embrace some new gift ideas. Mother s Day is officially and
unofficially recognized in most countries worldwide. Whether or not it is called
Mother s Day depends upon the country celebrating it. One thing is true no matter
where you are, and that is that mothers are honored and given gifts like flowers
from their children and grandchildren. As evidenced by statistics from AT T, more
long distance phone calls are made on Mother s Day than any other day of the year.
Since mother is such an important figure in your life, maybe you should break away
from tradition and give her a gift that is not flowers and candy.
1 Gift Baskets
There are any number of websites devoted to creating and sending a gift basket to
mom or grandmom, but they lack the personalization that comes from creating one
from scratch. It does not take a lot of money to create a basket, and you may even
end up saving money by doing it yourself.
Baskets are readily available at any craft or big box store in the gardening section.
They are normally constructed of wicker or a woven material and come in a huge
selection of sizes. You can tailor the basket to match your mom s personality or her
hobbies.
If your mom loves to plant flowers, put seeds, tools, gardening tip booklets, gift

Film Reflection
This summer has been an eye opener. Throughout this course, I have learned to look
at films through a new perspective. My new perspective will forever change how I
look at films. Before this class, I watched movies for their content as well as for
entertainment and enjoyment. This summer, I have learned that you must analyze
films to fully appreciate the work. I will no longer watch films for enjoyment, but I
will watch them for all that they are worth. When watching films, my perspective has
changed, causing me to analyze the camera work elements, and how the filmties into
American life and culture.
Before this class, I never knew that there was so much work and detail put into
producing films. The camera work was put into these films for a specific reason, and
when I realized this my thought process changed. I realized that in many cases the
camera work is what made the movie, not the plot. Once, I had this understanding, I
started to break down the camera work into the many different elements that
composed it. By doing so, I could fully appreciate and understand the purpose of each
element. The camera shot that is visible on screen was thoughtfully designed. The
type of shot used, whether it was a closeup, medium shot, American shot, or long shot
had a reasoning behind it. The director had to decide whether he wanted to focus on
the character or specific details about the character s actions or emotions as well as
how much of the background to feature. The usage of only

The Arguments Of Perception
Perception is the method by which the brain takes all the sensations a person
experiences at any given moment and allows them to be interpreted in some
meaningful fashion. Perception has some individually to it. Perception refers to the
interpretation of what we take in through our senses. The various theories on how our
sensation is organized and interpreted, and therefore, how we make senseof what we
see, hear, taste, touch, and smell.
The eye captures light and focuses it on the visual receptors, which convert light
energy to neural impulses sent to the brain. Vision begins in the eye which receives
the inputs, in the form of light, and finished in the brain which interprets those inputs
and gives us the information we need from the data ... Show more content on

Examples of sensations are like feeling warm, tingly, soft, nauseated, dizzy; emotions
such as happy, sad, threatened and other body senses like feeling the coordination.
Psychophysics is the study of the relationship between the physical properties of a
stimulus and the perception of that stimulus. If the relation between a given stimulus
parameter and perception were always one to one, it would be easy to predict the
effects of changing one or more stimulus parameters. Therefore, psychophysics
investigates how much of stimuli we can detect and how we detect differences
between stimuli in the environment with our sensory systems, including vision,
auditory, taste, smell, and pain.
Gestalt psychology is a school of thought that looks at the human mind and behavior
as a whole. When trying to make sense of the world around us, Gestalt psychology
suggests that we do not simply focus on every small component. Instead, our minds
tend to perceive objects as part of a greater whole and as elements of more complex
systems. This school of psychology played a major role in the modern development
of the study of human sensation and

The practice of nursing is focused on patient safety, quality of care, and better patient
outcomes. The four spheres of political action in nursing are the workplace,
government, professional organization and community (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, O
Grady, 2016). Each of these spheres functions independently but they are very much
interconnected to create change. First, the workplace sphere focuses on job issues as
well as patient care. Second, the government sphere focuses on laws and regulations
regarding nursing practice. The government plays an important role in influencing
nursing practice. For instance, the government sets policy for the regulation of health
care and health care providers. Third, the professional organization sphere focuses
Essay about Little Bee
Little Bee, by Chris Cleve, is a novel that explores unthinkable evil, but
simultaneously celebrates its characters in their ability to transcend all that weighs
them down, including their pasts, their secrets, and their flaws. For the character of
Little Bee, identity is inescapably tied to ethnicity, nationality, gender, race, and
class. A representative passage of the book that explores Little Bee s point of view
(both its unceasing optimism and stark realism) occurs in the final chapter: Little
Bee is awoken from a good dream, and then comes the ominous first sentence, There
is a moment when you wake up from dreaming in the hot sun, a moment outside time
when you do not know what you are (Cleave 258). Little Bee is questioning her...

This paragraph also hints at the return of Little Bee s Africanness in its wording.
The implication is that shade, a relatively simple word with her advanced level of
English, is again foreign to her. Then she says, regarding Sarah, I searched for the
name of her expression in your language...frightened, again struggling for easy
language. Given that in the previous paragraph she has discussed transformation at
length, it is as if the reader is seeing Little Bee regress to the self she was before
England and Sarah s influence. Another important element of voice is the use of
the second person point of view in the first paragraph. This technique is also used
throughout the book, as filtered through Little Bee. The second person is an
affecting way of getting the reader to empathize with its speaker. While Little Bee
s circumstances may be hard for many readers (particularly the audience that might
have access and motivation to read the novel) to understand, the second person
forces the reader to imagine herself in her stead. The use of second person as a tool
ties in with one of the central themes of the book: what it takes for one person to
understand the plight of another. This theme is evident at many points: Sarah and
Andrew choose to vacation in Nigeria despite its war; Andrew refuses to cut off his
finger though it may mean the girls will die; Sarah dismisses Andrew s

As statistics show, there are more than 1.8 billion Muslim around the world, which

We all have heard the romantic story of our flag. How Betsy Ross sat in her living
room all night, sewing together the stars and stripes. Today, Betsy s masterpiece
still flies high all around our country, but, in many of the southern states, there is a
second flag that flies with it. The Confederate flag. The birth story of this war flag
is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much
confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars ,
and our Stars and Stripes . So the leaders of the Confederates had their Committee

would use their original flag for parades. Hence, the birth of the Confederate... Show

Like many armies, the Confederates decided to make statues and monuments for

The weakness of the training needs analysis was that they had to spend money to
conduct training programs for those who were illiterate and were not able to
operate the new updated system (Mc Call, 1970). I would recommend the HR
professional of the medical specialist company to prepare training needs
assessment for all employees regularly, such as every six months once or once a
year. This would be helpful for updating the employees knowledge. According to
Denby (2010), the training programs that is provided by company should not be
just simply focus on teaching employees how to perform a certain job but also
focus on guiding them how to do jobs better. Therefore, providing training needs
analysis for all employees would be able to let the HR professional know that what

Eleven Vs. Marigolds
Eleven vs. Marigolds: The Transition to Adolescence In Sandra Cisneros s Eleven,
the young female protagonist, Rachel, dreads her transition into adolescence, but
at the same time, she knows that it is inevitable. When Mrs. Price forces the red
sweater on Rachel, it [sits] there like a big red mountain and she shove[s] it so that
it hangs over the edge [of the desk] like a waterfall (Cisneros 36). The author uses
the red sweater as symbolic of this transition as well as to foreshadow menstruation.
Rachel sees adolescence as an obstacle that she has to tackle before she can gain her
desired wisdom that comes only with age. By pushing the sweater away, she resists
the transition because she does not want to have to deal with adolescences... Show

After being forced to accept the red sweater, she realizes that she has lost the fight
and has to succumb to it because it is indeed inevitable. In her eyes, it is too late to
celebrate her birthday because she has already experienced the pain and discomfort
of her transition to adolescence. Even though she would much rather deny it, Rachel
realizes she cannot escape the impending wave of physical and emotional changes
that adolescence will bring. Eugenia Collier s Marigolds, showcases Lizabeth s
tumultuous and painful transition from childhood innocence to the compassion one
develops as an adolescent. As Lizabeth listens to her parents suffering in horror, she
feels as though, the world had lost its boundary lines. [Her] mother, who was small
and soft, was now the strength of the family; [her] father, who was the rock on which
the family had been built, was sobbing like the tiniest child (Collier ). Before this
moment, the situation of the poverty in her family is obscured by her childhood
innocence which she struggles to keep until this moment. She is
Strength Training
The benefit of strength and strength training for footballers is well supported by
research. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian
professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a
control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their
kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players
outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced
injury risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in
the quadriceps and hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most
frequently injured joint in football. Apor (1998)[3], a Hungarian researcher who has

These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of
lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called
reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force
production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than
weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting
and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8
repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and
speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for
improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum
efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed
so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to
develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done
uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds
resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most
specific manner. Again, short distances with long rests are
The Pros And Cons Of Political Parties
In a letter to Jonathan Jackson in October, 1789, John Adams wrote, There is
nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties,
each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other.
This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under
our Constitution , yet in modern day society, this is exactly the way the governmentis
set up. Political parties, or, similar politically minded people who work as a group to
influence public policy by getting candidates elected to office, are in control of the
current government. In the United statespolitical parties compete each other to gain
more political power and for the ability to put their policies into effect. As a result
of events in history leading up to today, there are now two major political parties in
the US. The United States is known to have a variety of political parties within it,
but the Republican and Democratic parties have shown through the strongest,
disagreeing with each other on most political and social issues, but being able to
find some agreement on others. There are minor parties, but none so far have been
able to gain the support needed to win a national election. Political parties had
beginnings outside of the US, when they were first thought of in Greece. During the
late 1600 ancient Greeks had a senate with two groups that represented people with
different interests, called the Plebeians and the Patricians. The
Holden Caulfield Relevant Today
Many consider The Catcher in the Rye to be the most poignant and popular story of
adolescence in American literature. Reading reviews, examining the public reception,
and uncovering depths of research would evidence this well. However, the value of
the novel rests not in its popularity a simple sign of its inherent value but in its ability
to resonate truth. More than merely telling a story, Salinger creates a relatable life
through the actions and attitudes of his ornery adolescent character Holden Caulfield.
Even though Holden can be annoying and the setting of the novel dated, his
perspective of the world makes The Catcher in the Rye just as relevant to Australian
teenagers today as it was back in 1951 when first published. The characterization...

This continues to make the novel just as relevant to Australian youth in 2018.
During his meeting with his history teacher Mr Spencer, before Holden leaves
Pencey, he explains why he left Elkon Hills. He attributes, One of the biggest
reasons I left... was because I was surrounded by phonies. They were coming in the
god damn window...Mr Haas... was the phoniest bastard you ve ever seen. (pg. 12)
Holden s reference to the adjective phonies is the first of many references to people
who he sees as fake, superficial and lacking authenticity. Naming the principal, an
adult in a position of authority as a phony coupled with a derogatory insult such as
bastard indicates his negative and critical view of those who he sees as fake,
particularly adults. This view makes the novel resonate with so many teens today.
Moreover, his scepticism of phonies is eptimized in his description of his brother
D.B he tells the reader that now [D.B] is out in Hollywood... being a prostitute. If
there s one thing I hate, it s the movies, (pg.1). Through the first person narration
and the language choice of the noun prostitute it is clear that Holden views
Hollywood as the center of superficiality a world where nothing is genuine or real.
The strong language choice of the verb hate , illustrates Holden s negative views of
this aspect of the adult world. This scepticism of a lack of authenticity in the world
makes the novel relatable to a contemporary audience. A Forbes article entitle
Authenticity: The Way To The Millennial s Heart, outlines that authenticity can be
considered to be one of the ten values regarded as most essential to youth. As
teenagers our world view is influenced by technology and social media. Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram the plethora of social media has made it easier to fake it. Before
any scheduled meeting, strangers can simply Google your name

The Importance Of In Health Service Organizations
The Importance of Dashboards in Health Service Organizations Introduction The
core of any successful health service organization s mission is to improve the
quality of patient care and satisfaction all the while maximizing profitability.
Health service s executives are responsible for initiating fiscal strategies, planning
for favorable outcomes, and executing their vision and measuring operational key
performance indicators (KPI s). KPI s indicate how well their organization is
achieving value through financial and clinical metrics that help drive vision and
mission. To do this well, health service leadership require a 360 degree perspective
of their organization s business performance to view and quickly understand where
their organization compares universally. The Business Intelligence dashboard is a
streamlined, easily accessible, and a more accurate and significant reporting
process. It presents the ability to gauge performances, understand the impact of
perpetually changing conditions; it assists in making quick and well informed
decisions for performance scenario planning, as well as what if analysis, at all
various levels of comprehensive and real time information. In short, the dashboards
provide a succinct and yet visually appealing snapshot of an organization s
performance, as a result, leadership create accountability and are better able to focus
on more value added activities for proactive guidance for employees to work
consistently together as a whole.
3 Baskets Of The Buddha
A few hours into conversation with the Buddhist nun was still not enough to grasp
and comprehend every teaching of the Buddha. She just came to America and the
dialogue was strictly in Vietnamese. I had a hard time trying to understand
Vietnamese Buddhist terminology. She discussed Buddha teachings regarding the
Samsara, the Eightfold Path, and the Five Precepts. She particularly emphasized
on the Tripitaka (Sanskrit for three baskets ; Tipitaka in Pali). The Tripitaka
/Tipitaka consists of three sections/baskets of the Buddha s Teachings. They are the
Vinaya Pitaka/Discipline Basket, the Sutra Pitaka/Basket of Discourses, and the
Abhidharma Pitaka/ Basket of Discourses. I went home and searched for the
English version of these Baskets and read about it for a deeper understanding of her

hundreds of monastic rules for monks and nuns. It consists of five books: Parajika

Siddhartha Gautama, Or The Buddha
Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha, founded Buddhism once he reached a state of
dharma at age twenty nine. Once he founded Buddhism, he travelled the world trying
to spread his philosophy. Buddha preached that the biggest hallucination in life is the
tangible world. While spreading Buddhism, he converted a small portion of South
Asia. Buddhismwas developed throughout South Asia by the main political powers
of AЕ›oka and the Tang Dynasty. AЕ›oka, the Mauryan Dynasty s third king ruled
the empire at its peak. The Mauryan Dynasty Empire swept the majority of South
Asia. Accepting of other religions, AЕ›oka had access to a variety of people and
religions residing in his reign. However, the king remained in his traditional
Buddhist ways and it showed throughout his rule. AЕ›oka wanted to spread dharma
to his people, so he had the Pillar Edicts made, the first tangible evidence of
Buddhism scripture carved into stone. These pieces of stone have Asoka s ideas
on animal justice, his religious and moral standings, and social welfare . Having
these palpable pieces of Buddhism diffused throughout his empire for public
viewing was one of the major ways he helped spread Buddhism. The Pillar Edicts,
the stone pieces AЕ›oka had carved, shows how AЕ›oka changed his empire and
changed Buddhism. By applying Buddhism to ruling an empire, he developed
Buddhism to become more adaptable, but did not allow it lose its purity. The Fourth

Paper Title: RESERVOIR SIMULATION OF UNCONVENTIONAL GAS
RESERVOIRS:
(A Review)
Author: Benard Okuidegbe (UCID: 10142489)
ABSTRACT
Abundant amounts of resources are left to be untapped from unconventional
reservoirs. (Arthur 2008) observes that about 500TCF of natural gas are contained in
unconventional reservoirs. Unconventional gas reservoirs account for approximately
one third of the US natural gas production (Rafiqul, 2014). Over the years, reservoir
engineers have relied on numerical simulators as a tool for modeling and predicting
hydrocarbon recoveries (recovery factor) from reservoirs, which translates into the
economic viablility (or not) of a petroleum asset. The accurate modeling of reservoir
fluid flow using simulators depend largely on the description of actual rock/fluid
interactions that occur within the reservoir. Unlike for the case of conventional
reservoir systems, the flow physics for unconventional reservoirs (Tight gas, Coal bed
methane, Shale reservoirs) are complicated by their unique features which include:
extremely low permeability, complex fracture networks, non darcy flow, Klinkenberg
effects, adsorption/desorption effects and rock deformation due to variations in
effective stress in the reservoirs. Accouting for all of these features into numerical

The opposing view use the idea of education and modern day technology (to enhance
habitats) to acknowledge that the captivation of animals does not inflict any harm.
This can be seen in various instances in Zoos Connect Us to the Natural World , but

can t be replicated on two dimensional television or computer scenes...[seeing] live
animals is a powerful experience The author goes on to explain the significance of
scientific studying as well as using technology to fix the infrastructure of habitats by
saying, In fact, recent advances in exhibit design, animal nutrition, genetic
management, and veterinary medicine have revolutionized animal welfare and care in
our zoos. While the arguments Hutchens does attempt to bolster the opposing point
of view, what he is failing to mention is the fact that animals will not adapt to the
habitat emotionally despite the technological advances because of the actual wildlife
they have lived in. He is only attempting to describe the point of view of human
beings and not providing any statistics to support that animals can adapt to fake
habitats. Other than this, the author implies that humans must seem animals in
person rather than watching them on two dimensional television . What the author
does not refer to is the fact that animals are mentally tortured to be seen by people in
zoos. Zoos may spark interest in education and science, but animals cannot simply be
kept in captivity in a separate habitat for this to

The Theory Of Social Construction
A paradigm is a set of beliefs or assumptions that create the reality for a group. The
values, moras, and habits, all of which are socially constructed, create the reality for
the group. The theory of social construction is a theory that knowledge is constructed
by humans for human use. We communicate using rhetoric, allowing others to see
into those socially constructed ideas or paradigms. Rhetoric is the ability to
ascertain and analyze, in any given context, the available means of persuasion.
Persuasion is necessary to convince the audience of one s paradigms. The play,
Angels In America, by Tony Kushner, focuses on two relationships that interconnect
throughout the entire play. Kushner informs the reader of a typical dismal life of
someone with AIDS during the Reagan and Bush eras. During this desperate time,
self interest overtakes everything else, allowing the power dynamics to become
even more clear and powerful. This hierarchy is socially constructed, but sets the
reality for the unfortunate, marginalized lives of most of those contracted with
AIDS. Through the writing technique, ASAAP, I will establish the act, scene, agent,
agency, and purpose for each example. This fully explains each act literally and
figuratively, so one is able to fully comprehend the meaning behind each act.
Kushner displays the battle between liberals and conservatives, not only politically,
but also personally. It is simple to see the power dynamics in Act III, Scene II when

Retinal Vascular Imaging Essay
Abstract
Retinal vascular imaging is useful in detecting Microvasular abnormalities. It shows
several predictors of diseases and potential for understanding other markers that
might fit into what happens when we age, develop a disease or health issue. Retinal
and cerebral microvasculature have common physiological properties. They are
highly similar metabolic active tissues, and are homologous in structure. There are at
least two viewing forms for retinal vasculature 2D and 3D . 2D being more flat while
3D shows outlines, fuller imager quality and in depth structures of the retina. Retinal
imaging has been helpful in several diagnoses of health such as hypertension,
cardiovascular diseases, obesity and the effects of aging. Outlook for retinal vascular
imaging looks good as it is being applied to new ideas and concepts.
Introduction
Microvasular veins are some of the small veins in our body, referred to as vessels
that form a network between the arterioles and venules located in the retina and
body. The micro vasculatures of the brain and retina have common physiological
properties, they both have high metabolic active tissues, similar embryological
origins and are homologous (Meier, M. H. et al, 2013). Both vascular networks share
similar vascular regulatory processes (Lassen, 1964; Hardy et al. 1997; Delaey Van de

Quite a number of health issues such retinal arteriolar narrowing has a strong
correlation with coronary artery occulusion, venular dilation used as a predictor of
clinical stroke and cardiovascular disease. (Liew, G.et al, 2008). Microvasular
abnormalities that are viewed when using retinal vascular imaging, can provide
insight to our body, which we still only know very minimally about. There are tons
diseases and health issues that still have no warning signs or
Severe Anorexia Nervosa
Oftentimes, Anorexia Nervosa is classified as a psychological disorder and is not
viewed as an instigator of communication disorders. Besides the obvious negative
consequences of eating disorders, anorexia can cause an onset of dysphagia.
Anorexia is a terrible disease and the annual death rate is approximately 12 times
higher than the death rate of all causes of death among females ages 15 to 24

The women were institutionalized in an acute medical center and experienced
complications of malnutrition and dysphagia (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler,

one demonstrated severe dysphagia (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012).
Two of the three also showed aspiration and the third showed penetration (Holmes,

Qualitative Modalities
The text provided very information material regarding the effectiveness of the

satisfaction measures are among the most readily available outcome measures.
Accreditation requirements and advertising effort have already been established to

systems to produce such quality measures. It is also imperative, however, to
address issues involved in data capture with respect to how the data will be
collected, when data should be collected, and which functional area will be
responsible for data capture and reporting etc. Furthermore, web based technologies
have emerged and had greatly simplified the process of data collection and analysis.

Population Growth In America
The United States population is growing rapidly. At a rate of 0.7% per year
currently, that equates to about 9 million new people a year, after the number of
deaths are accounted for. With the number of people seen on the streets rising and
the number of incarcerated criminals dropping to around 0.2%, it is difficult to see
where all these new people are going to fit into society. As hard as it is to imagine a
new baby born every eight seconds, that is the reality currently facing America.
However, while this type of populationgrowth is likely going to cause America s
demise, another country is currently populating at a rate even America cannot
compete with: India. At an astonishing 1.7% increase per year, India is currently
populated with almost 900 million more people than the United States. With less than
half the land size and an undeniable need for more resources to survive, India has
been faced with the largest increase of population within the last century. However,
unlike the United States, India s government has taken crucial steps towards helping
to control their population. Albeit, their methods are a bit unorthodox and incredibly

number of female sterilizations being performed each year. While around 37% of
females in India have chosen to be permanently sterilized, the vast majority of men
have declared that male vasectomies are considered culturally unacceptable.
Additionally, the selected abortion of girls in addition to the sterilization of women
of child bearing age has caused the ratio of women to men, in some communities, to
be as small as eight to ten, with the younger generation being more susceptible to a

Positive And Negative Outcomes Of The Crusades
The Crusades were a group of Christians that Pope Urban II started back in 1095.
They also had 9 Crusades, or 9 times when they would attack to get the Holy Land,
against the Muslims and Jews, but mostly against the Muslims. During those battles
there were both positive and negative. Were the results of the Crusades more positive
or negative? The Crusades were more negative than positive because they worsen
their relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, they destroyed and
betrayed their closest ally, and their towns or cities were difficult to handle. One
reason why the Crusades were more negative than positive was because they worsen
their own relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, even tho they
were bad anyways. Document 5 states that First, the long struggle between Islam and
Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates
(bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their
Christian and Jewish subjects worsened. (description of some of the effects of the
Crusades). This is (important/interesting/relevant) because even if the Christian and
Muslims relationship was bad already the Crusades made it worse by the bitterness
left and even the Jews now are in it because when the Crusades lost, they took their
fury against the Jews and would slaughter and destroy their cities even though the lost
against the Muslims. Document 10 states that ...which one of the Franks
National Security Agency Essay
National Security Agency/Central Security Service
The National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) was established
in November 1952 to provide a cryptologic organization for the civilian and military
leaders of the United States and to provide them with timely information. The
National Security Agency (NSA) coordinates, directs, and performs highly specialized
activities to produce foreign intelligence information and protect United States
information systems through two main missions, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and
Information Assurance (IA). The Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) mission uses
cryptologic machines to break foreign codes to find out what they know and what
they are doing. The biggest accomplishment publicly ... Show more content on

2. Radically Improve the Production and Protection of Information.
3. Enhance an Expert Workforce to Meet Global Cryptologic Challenges.
4. Create and Integrate Business Management Capabilities Within the Enterprise and
With Stakeholders.
The NSA also has one of the biggest research and development programs in the
United States. It is said that the NSA employs more mathematicians than anyone else
in the U.S. and possibly the world to help design and develop cipher systems that
will protect information systems and search for weaknesses within the existing ones.
Though NSA research and development is top secret, some of its past
accomplishments were the development of the first large scale computer and the first
solid state computer which led to the development of the modern computer. The NSA
was also responsible for the development of the tape cassette.
I believe the NSA has proven to be one of our greatest agencies. Not only has it
developed technology to be used among every day civilians such as computers and
cassette tapes, but has also developed life saving equipment including
communication and code cracking machines for the men and women of our military.
While serving in the U.S. Navy, I was stationed in a squadron that used spy planes
equipped with modern day crypto machines. This technology was developed in the
research and development teams of the NSA agencies to intercept signals
Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History Summary
Bad Girls
Well behaved women seldom make history. I have seen that phrase and its slightly
more common counterpart, Well behaved women rarely make history many times. It
is especially popular in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval
history research and reenactment group in which I participate, and is often
accompanied by images of female fighters in armor wielding swords. Most recently I
saw it emblazoned upon my girlfriend s chest on a medieval themed t shirt that she
bought at a recent SCA event. I have never thought much about the slogan except for
the fact that it generally represents women who make themselves known in
unforgettable ways and are remembered mostly for disrupting the status quo.
Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, an author and professor of history at Harvard University,
introduced the phrase in a 1976 journal article about the characterization of women
in Puritan funeral sermons. Ulrich more recently wrote a book, based on the
phrase, that explores how women in the past have challenged the ways history was
written. In her essay Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History, Ulrich discusses
the history of the phrase, how it was coined, and how it has taken on a life of its
own. The phrase is now commonly seen on everything from t shirts to coffee mugs,
and has been featured in magazine articles and even advertising campaigns. She
reflects on how her accidental fame has given her new insights into her historical
studies.

I Love Alzheimer s Research Paper
Why I chose This Topic I ve always loved the holidays. It s a mostly stress free
nostalgic time to enjoy with friends and loved ones. Best of all, holidays normally
mean gifts and plenty of good food! The celebrations are great, but it seems that at
most every family Christmas or Thanksgiving, we are on the edge of our seats and
nervous. I ve found that I am unable to concentrate on the festivities because my
mind is wandering, thinking of our other loved ones. Since I can remember, we
have always had a family member plagued with cancer, tumors, or other grave
diseases. That being said, the ailment I ve feared most is Alzheimer s. I ve seen too
many loved ones forget their relatives and eventually their spouses because of this
disease. I am... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my main questions was whether I could do anything emotionally to cope
with Alzheimer s and with that search I had better luck. One of my favorite pieces
of information I found was to face your feelings head on think of all
emotions...positive and negative...be as sad as you want...work through anger and
frustration...these are healthy feelings...it s common to feel love and anger at the
same time Taken from a paper published on ( Alzheimer s Association website ).
The next thing I found that helped me personally was how to deal with guilt,
personally I ve experienced feeling guilty when taking a break or not being there
for my grandma when she needed me, as well as regretting things I had done
before knowing about the illness. Something interesting I found that I would ve
never thought of was to continue to participate in as many activities as possible.(
Alzheimer s Association pg. ) I also found that a good way to keep an emotional
connection longer is to personally connect with the sufferer. A few ways to do that
is to keep eye contact with throughout the conversation, to always refer to them by
name when talking, continue the conversation as long as possible because is
makes the person with AD feel better about themselves, and be aware of the body
language you re presenting ( Grief and loss as Alzheimer s progresses pg. ). I
would say the most essential piece of information I learned was the best thing I can
do is just comfort the person with AD and make their time left as easy as
Chapter 11 Georgia Country
11 Georgia Country
Well, I caught myself a looking down alongside the creek, and that s when I found it!
Charity, who was busy with the baby, heard Charles telling Uriah excitedly.
Found what? What did you find, Charles? asked Charity, turning to look in his
direction. She was curious as to what had him so excited. He was surrounded by his
brothers and sisters, each trying to scrooch closer to him, to get a better look at what
he held.
This! Charles exclaimed happily, holding a clay pot and several arrow heads up
where she could see them. The pot looked nearly perfect, from the distance she was
from him.
Bring it over here where I can look at it.
As she held the pot and turned it in her hands she could see that it was in near perfect

Meanwhile, several counties over, Henry was about to get into some mischief, of
his own. The last name had been drawn out of the hat, and again, he had failed to
make the cut. This was the third county he d gone to, with no luck. He was growing
more and more discouraged. He felt that he was letting his family down. When the
grizzled old man offered him a drink of whiskey, he took the jug and swigged down
several big gulps. Henry had never before imbibed spirits; the hot liquid sliding
down his throat and into his stomach felt good. And, after several more large swigs,
so did Henry!
He and the old man sat and drank for the greater part of the afternoon. Henry drank,
bemoaning the fact that he still had not been drawn in the land lottery, and the old
man, just thankful for some
The Articles Of Association ( Aoa ) Forms The Constitution...
The Articles of Association (AOA) forms the constitution of the Company. It
regulates the internal affairs of the company by defining the responsibilities of
directors, the type of business and the means by which the shareholders exert
control over the Board of Directors . This essay will illustrate the similarities and
differences of the AOA to a contract and how it is special in nature. Based on
Section 14 of the Companies Act 1985 , AOAs are on the same level and to the
same extent as if the company and shareholders had signed a contract. This is
illustrated by Sterling J s statement in Wood v Odessa Waterworks Company which
reads: The articles of association constitutes a contract not merely between
shareholders and the company but also between the individual shareholders and
every other . The equivalence of AOA to a contract is conclusive in New British
Iron Co per Wright J s judgment whereby it completely replaces or stands in lieu of
the missing employment contract. This highlights the fact that AOA possesses
contractual value and is contractual by nature. In simple terms, it is from its
conception considered as an enforceable agreement and hence it is legally binding.
As such, it is evident that AOAs serves all purposes of a regular contract. AOAs
however is a special legal document as it possesses distinct features that differentiates
it from being an ordinary contract . An ordinary contract has permanent signatories or
perpetual parties while the
Pros And Cons Of Data Security
On Piotrowski et alcite{Piotrowski}, the authors present a collaborative data
storage (tinyDSM) middleware that addresses the common problems of store data
on wireless sensor networks (WSN) using data replication on nodes of the network.
However, in the proposal, the decision of the node to assume the role of data
replicators is static and uses a random criterion depends only on the number of nodes
and density of the network. It s created some problems if that node disappears from
the network.
On Lieskovsky et alcite{Lieskovsky}, the authors present a solution for data
distribution and replication in VANET(Vehicle Ad hoc Networks) that allows the
perception the whole VANET system as a simple distributed database system.
However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One local layer that performs a preprocessing of data and later replicates them to a
layer that is centralized in the cloud. Although the proposed address addresses a
relevant problem in the IoT area, the work does not address the persistence of data at
the edge of the network, considering the dynamic environment of Mist computing.
On Confais et alcite{Confais} the authors evaluate through performance analysis
three off the shelf object store solutions, namely Rados, Cassandra and InterPlanetary

System (IPFS) in Fog context environment. However, the used software platforms
need devices with some computation processing power, so it is not applicable for
simple devices, often found it in IoT environment.
A first step to address the data persistence problem in the environment of Fog/Mist
computing (DPPF), it is to model the problem formally. Therefore, given $D$, a
data block of size $L$, which it wants to persist in the environment of Fog/Mist
computing. Let s define $F$ as the network devices located at the edge of the
network, and dynamically composed by $n$ active devices at time stamp $t$, among
a total possible of $N_{t}$ devices. Therefore, let s assume that the set $F$ at the
moment $t$ can be represented by a graph $G(V, E)$. Where the set of vertex $V$
are the $n$ active devices at the instant $t$, and $E$ the set of edges formed by the
communication link between them.
In our approach, the devices that are part of $F$ at instant $t$,
The Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension
Act of...
The Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014 is a bill that
is currently pending in Congress. The initial bill, the Unemployment Compensation
Extension Act (S.3688) was introduced in the Senate on November 17, 2008, in
which an amended version of the bill materialized on March 6, 2014 under the name,
Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014 or S.2097. The
Act or law of 2008 would amend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation
(EUC) program established under the Supplemental Appropriations Act (SAA) of
2008, which provided several additional weeks of extended benefits for those who
have exhausted their unemployment insurance benefits (Whittaker, 2008). The
current bill, the Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014
also amends the earlier version of the Act of 2008. This current bill seeks to exempt
weeks of unemployment between enactment of this Act by November 30, 2014,
from the prohibition in the Federal State Extended Unemployment Compensation
Act (FSEUCA) of 1970 against federal matching payments to a state for the first
week in an individual s eligibility period for which extended compensation or
sharable regular compensation is paid if the state law provides for payment of
regular compensation to an individual for his or her first week of otherwise
compensable unemployment (Vroman, 2009). The bill also proposes several
changes, some in which are (i) amendment to the Assistance for Unemployed Workers
and
Gypsy Rose Lee Research Paper
Gypsy Rose Lee will always be remembered through the musical hit Gypsy,
composed by Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne. The most important character
which carries the musical all the way to the end is Gypsy s mother Mama Rose.
The musical has come back to Broadway many times in different forms Today s
most recent version of Gypsy is the 2008 musical featuring Patti Lu Pone as Mama
Rose. Patti blows most of the past performers out of the water. But Ethel Merman
will always be remembered as the original Mama Rose. Ethel Merman portrays
Mama Rose as a tough and energetic mother who wants nothing more for her
daughters than fame on the big stage. My second favorite is Bette Midler s
performance in 1993, who has such a strong stage presence
Lightning Thief Vs Artemis Fowl
Lightning Thief vs. Artemis Fowl
Both the Lightning Thief and Artemis Fowl are in the fantasy genre, both involve
full of action adventures. Both of their narrators are humorous yet very sarcastic.
Both of the stories take place in a modern day. Percy Jackson and his demigod
friends live and travel across the United States going on quests while Artemis Fowl, a
human that mostly does is work in Europe does darker business.
One of The Lightning Thief s characteristics is that it re imagined the world as a
part of a never ending Greek myth Mt. Olympus is on the 600th floor of the Empire
State Building, Apollo drives a flaming convertible, rather than a chariot, and the
Bermuda Triangle becomes the Sea of Monsters. Other myths also become a reality
in Artemis Fowl as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The LEPrecon, a division of the Fairy Police, is mistakenly named leprechaun, and
Atlantis is an underwater fairy metropolis. Both books come down into save the
world storylines, and if they don t succeed... then the world would then collapse into
some terrible war and that would be the end of civilization.
One of the most obvious differences between the two series is that Percy Jackson the
Olympians is told from the first person point of view, narrated by Percy Jackson,
whereas, Artemis Fowl is written in third person perspective. The two stories
follow the titular characters, both merely twelve years old in the beginning. Unlike
other books, the characters age and develop as the series moves on. Percy, though
he fails at school due to his ADHD and dyslexia, is courageous, righteous, a natural
leader, loyal to a fault, and a good fighter. Artemis, on the other hand, is cold,
ruthless, smug, deathly pale complete with a vampire smile. However, at the same
time, he is quite possibly the most intelligent person on the world, his strategies
always seem to work out somehow. You don t mess

Essay On Scientific Method

  • 1. Essay On Scientific Method Crafting an essay on the topic of the Scientific Method can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between clarity and complexity. The Scientific Method itself is a systematic approach to inquiry, comprising a series of steps that guide researchers from observation to hypothesis, experimentation, analysis, and conclusion. Translating this intricate process into a coherent and engaging essay demands a thorough understanding of the method's nuances and its broader implications in the realm of scientific inquiry. One of the hurdles in composing such an essay lies in effectively communicating the intricate details of the Scientific Method without overwhelming the reader with technical jargon. Striking the right balance between providing sufficient depth and maintaining accessibility is crucial. It requires careful consideration of the target audience and an adept use of language to ensure that both experts and laypersons can grasp the significance of the method. Furthermore, addressing the historical evolution of the Scientific Method and its impact on various scientific disciplines adds another layer of complexity. Delving into the contributions of renowned scientists, the refinement of experimental techniques, and the continuous evolution of this method over time requires extensive research and a nuanced approach to presenting information. Another challenge is navigating the ethical considerations and potential biases associated with scientific research. Discussing how the Scientific Method helps mitigate these challenges while acknowledging its limitations demands a thoughtful and balanced exploration of the topic. In conclusion, composing an essay on the Scientific Method necessitates not only a strong grasp of the subject matter but also the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner. It involves weaving together historical context, theoretical underpinnings, and practical applications while considering the diverse audience that may encounter the essay. While the process may be demanding, the opportunity to explore and illuminate the intricacies of the Scientific Method is undoubtedly rewarding. As Charles once said, Living in dreams of yesterday, we find ourselves still dreaming of impossible future conquests. Many people forget what this quote means. I think the quote means that even when you think you have achieved the impossible, you still find yourself trying to achieve the impossible. Many of Charles Lindbergh s quotes make him an important aviator because of how the quote inspire you. Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902 in Detroit, Michigan. • 3. Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis (Law and Order) We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we re not savages. We re English, and the English are best at everything. So we ve got to do the right things. (Golding 42) Explanation: Despite not needing rules the kids decide they should have them so they don t become savages. In fact, its only when the rules no longer become important that everything goes downhill. Also, even though they pride themselves on being English the rest of the book shows that even the best at everything society to the kids is just one step away from becoming chaos. (Jack) Jack himself shrank at this cry with a hiss of indrawn breath, and for a minute became less a hunter than a furtive thing, ape like among the tangle of trees. In a way he s kinda like Jack, wanting control over everyone

Whether your parents brought you, a friend got married here or you stumbled onto our sandy shores one fateful night, Dennisport has a way of hooking you in and bringing you back. In the grand scheme of things, the tourism era of Dennisport s history started relatively recently, but the part of town between Route 28 and Nantucket Sound has a rich history dating back to the colonial era. The first settlers descended on the land that was to become Dennis and Dennis Port in 1639. As a matter of background, the land that is now Dennis was selected not for its proximity to the ocean, but for its abundance of fresh water ponds and springs. It is estimated ... By 1803, there were 24 different salt works operating in town, with vats totaling more than 19,500 running feet. After the War, fishing became the dominant industry of the town, and the Dennisport area benefited greatly. By virtue of its location on Nantucket Sound, Dennisport hauled ashore thousands of tons through the 1800s. You can see this seafaring lineage in the architecture of many of the houses along Chase Ave, Depot Street and other surrounding roads. The widow s walks and cupolas along the roofs once served a purpose other than enjoying a cocktail while drinking in a sunset they were lookouts for sea captain s and sailors wives to watch for the return of their loved ones. Our Admiral s house was once actually home to a sea captain, and we ve incorporated many of these design features into the Captain s and Commodore s houses. At one point, the fishing fleet of Dennis brought in almost 7,000 tons of fish annually, a staggering number for the 18th and 19th centuries. The completion of the Cape Cod Central Railroad was the first truly transformative event in the village s history. The Cape Cod Branch Railroad, later the Cape Cod Central Railroad and the Old Colony Railroad, reached the village somewhere around 1863 65, with the South Dennis and later the Bass River stations opening on Great Western Road and

To finance construction members of the council organized the Patterson Hotel Corporation. Through strenuous promotion they raised $15 million by selling 15,000 shares of stock at $1,000 per share. They secured the other $10 million necessary to build the hotel as a loan provided by a local bank on a 10 year, 14 percent mortgage that called for uniform annual payments sufficient to pay interest and to extinguish the debt at the end of 10 years. Upon completion, the Patterson Hotel Corporation leased the hotel to a national company that operated a chain of hotels. The lease ran for 30 years and contained a clause permitting the lessee to purchase the hotel for $10 million at the end of the 30 year period. The lessee agreed to furnish the hotel and pay all taxes (including income taxes) and operating expenses, and was to meet the interest and repayment obligations on the mortgage during the first 10 years of the lease. During the last 20 years of the lease, the operating company agreed to make payments sufficient to permit annual dividends of $400 per share. Unfortunately, with each announcement of new protective software, a counter program almost instantly is created, matched, and supported through counter hacking technology that makes files available to these large copying networks. Any person with knowledgeable code in computers is capable of decoding these files. This desire to liberate files by many hackers is only a sign to show that the industry should be developing ways to work with the technology and not against it. The Recording Industry Association of America recently filed lawsuits against four college students, running ftp servers on campus networks. A federal judge in California settled the case quickly, and despite the fact that the students never actually accepted responsibility, they settled to pay $12,000 to $17,500 in fines. A case that ended without a clearly defined verdict proves that it is difficult to have a true scapegoat for responsibility of piracy violations and copyright infringement. The internet is like one gigantic copying machine, says David Nimmer, a lawyer who spends most of his time with disputes in Intellectual property. Once on the internet, copying becomes effortless, costless, widespread, and immediate. Mother s Day Gift Ideas 4 Great Mother s Day Gift Ideas Hallmark and FTD have made a fortune on gift buying for mom on Mother s Day, but it might be time to move away from the standard bouquet of flowers and the frilly, glittery card and embrace some new gift ideas. Mother s Day is officially and unofficially recognized in most countries worldwide. Whether or not it is called Mother s Day depends upon the country celebrating it. One thing is true no matter where you are, and that is that mothers are honored and given gifts like flowers from their children and grandchildren. As evidenced by statistics from AT T, more long distance phone calls are made on Mother s Day than any other day of the year. Since mother is such an important figure in your life, maybe you should break away from tradition and give her a gift that is not flowers and candy. 1 Gift Baskets There are any number of websites devoted to creating and sending a gift basket to mom or grandmom, but they lack the personalization that comes from creating one from scratch. It does not take a lot of money to create a basket, and you may even end up saving money by doing it yourself. Baskets are readily available at any craft or big box store in the gardening section. They are normally constructed of wicker or a woven material and come in a huge selection of sizes. You can tailor the basket to match your mom s personality or her hobbies. • 9. Film Reflection This summer has been an eye opener. Throughout this course, I have learned to look at films through a new perspective. My new perspective will forever change how I look at films. Before this class, I watched movies for their content as well as for entertainment and enjoyment. This summer, I have learned that you must analyze films to fully appreciate the work. I will no longer watch films for enjoyment, but I will watch them for all that they are worth. When watching films, my perspective has changed, causing me to analyze the camera work elements, and how the filmties into American life and culture. Before this class, I never knew that there was so much work and detail put into producing films. The camera work was put into these films for a specific reason, and when I realized this my thought process changed. I realized that in many cases the camera work is what made the movie, not the plot. Once, I had this understanding, I started to break down the camera work into the many different elements that composed it. By doing so, I could fully appreciate and understand the purpose of each element. The camera shot that is visible on screen was thoughtfully designed. The type of shot used, whether it was a closeup, medium shot, American shot, or long shot had a reasoning behind it. The director had to decide whether he wanted to focus on the character or specific details about the character s actions or emotions as well as how much of the background to feature. The Arguments Of Perception Perception is the method by which the brain takes all the sensations a person experiences at any given moment and allows them to be interpreted in some meaningful fashion. Perception has some individually to it. Perception refers to the interpretation of what we take in through our senses. The various theories on how our sensation is organized and interpreted, and therefore, how we make senseof what we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. Psychophysics is the study of the relationship between the physical properties of a stimulus and the perception of that stimulus. If the relation between a given stimulus parameter and perception were always one to one, it would be easy to predict the effects of changing one or more stimulus parameters. Therefore, psychophysics investigates how much of stimuli we can detect and how we detect differences between stimuli in the environment with our sensory systems, including vision, auditory, taste, smell, and pain. Gestalt psychology is a school of thought that looks at the human mind and behavior as a whole. When trying to make sense of the world around us, Gestalt psychology suggests that we do not simply focus on every small component. Instead, our minds tend to perceive objects as part of a greater whole and as elements of more complex systems. This school of psychology played a major role in the modern development of the study of human sensation and

  • 15. Essay about Little Bee Little Bee, by Chris Cleve, is a novel that explores unthinkable evil, but simultaneously celebrates its characters in their ability to transcend all that weighs them down, including their pasts, their secrets, and their flaws. For the character of Little Bee, identity is inescapably tied to ethnicity, nationality, gender, race, and class. A representative passage of the book that explores Little Bee s point of view (both its unceasing optimism and stark realism) occurs in the final chapter: Little Bee is awoken from a good dream, and then comes the ominous first sentence, There is a moment when you wake up from dreaming in the hot sun, a moment outside time when you do not know what you are (Cleave 258). The implication is that shade, a relatively simple word with her advanced level of English, is again foreign to her. Then she says, regarding Sarah, I searched for the name of her expression in your language...frightened, again struggling for easy language. Given that in the previous paragraph she has discussed transformation at length, it is as if the reader is seeing Little Bee regress to the self she was before England and Sarah s influence. Another important element of voice is the use of the second person point of view in the first paragraph. This technique is also used throughout the book, as filtered through Little Bee. The second person is an affecting way of getting the reader to empathize with its speaker. While Little Bee s circumstances may be hard for many readers (particularly the audience that might have access and motivation to read the novel) to understand, the second person forces the reader to imagine herself in her stead. The use of second person as a tool ties in with one of the central themes of the book: what it takes for one person to understand the plight of another. This theme is evident at many points: Sarah and Andrew choose to vacation in Nigeria despite its war; Andrew refuses to cut off his finger though it may mean the girls will die; Sarah dismisses Andrew s

Today, Betsy s masterpiece still flies high all around our country, but, in many of the southern states, there is a second flag that flies with it. The Confederate flag. The birth story of this war flag is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars , and our Stars and Stripes . The Augusta Confederate Monument in Augusta, Georgia was dedicated 1878 in to represent Private Benson, General Robert E. Lee, General Stonewall Jackson, General T.R.R. Cobb and General W.H.T. And the most common memorial, the Confederate Flag itself. There are eight statues dedicated to Confederate war heroes in Washington D.C. at the National Statuary Hall Collection. These people thought of other races to be worth less than dirt; they couldn t have cared less about these people. In fact, they didn t even see other races as human beings. The Case Of Medical Specialist Company 1.Referring to the case of medical specialist company, there were a couple of strength of the training needs analysis is that the HR professional was able to conduct training programs in order to improve the required skills of employees for the new system. This was a very important factor because most of the employees could only work with the old system, which was a system with only simple design and running window 98. In the training needs analysis, the HR professional was able to use on the job training method and business games training method to conduct the training programs to train the employees. These were effective plan for letting employees to obtain new knowledge and skills to work. The weakness of the training needs analysis was that they had to spend money to conduct training programs for those who were illiterate and were not able to operate the new updated system (Mc Call, 1970). I would recommend the HR professional of the medical specialist company to prepare training needs assessment for all employees regularly, such as every six months once or once a year. This would be helpful for updating the employees knowledge. According to Denby (2010), the training programs that is provided by company should not be just simply focus on teaching employees how to perform a certain job but also focus on guiding them how to do jobs better. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury risks. These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. Again, short distances with long rests are

The Pros And Cons Of Political Parties In a letter to Jonathan Jackson in October, 1789, John Adams wrote, There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution , yet in modern day society, this is exactly the way the governmentis set up. Political parties, or, similar politically minded people who work as a group to influence public policy by getting candidates elected to office, are in control of the current government. In the United statespolitical parties compete each other to gain more political power and for the ability to put their policies into effect. As a result of events in history leading up to today, there are now two major political parties in the US. The United States is known to have a variety of political parties within it, but the Republican and Democratic parties have shown through the strongest, disagreeing with each other on most political and social issues, but being able to find some agreement on others. There are minor parties, but none so far have been able to gain the support needed to win a national election. More than merely telling a story, Salinger creates a relatable life through the actions and attitudes of his ornery adolescent character Holden Caulfield. He attributes, One of the biggest reasons I left... was because I was surrounded by phonies. They were coming in the god damn window...Mr Haas... was the phoniest bastard you ve ever seen. (pg. 12) Holden s reference to the adjective phonies is the first of many references to people who he sees as fake, superficial and lacking authenticity. Naming the principal, an adult in a position of authority as a phony coupled with a derogatory insult such as bastard indicates his negative and critical view of those who he sees as fake, particularly adults. This view makes the novel resonate with so many teens today. Moreover, his scepticism of phonies is eptimized in his description of his brother D.B he tells the reader that now [D.B] is out in Hollywood... being a prostitute. If there s one thing I hate, it s the movies, (pg.1). Through the first person narration and the language choice of the noun prostitute it is clear that Holden views Hollywood as the center of superficiality a world where nothing is genuine or real. The strong language choice of the verb hate , illustrates Holden s negative views of this aspect of the adult world. This scepticism of a lack of authenticity in the world makes the novel relatable to a contemporary audience. A Forbes article entitle Authenticity: The Way To The Millennial s Heart, outlines that authenticity can be considered to be one of the ten values regarded as most essential to youth. The Importance Of In Health Service Organizations The Importance of Dashboards in Health Service Organizations Introduction The core of any successful health service organization s mission is to improve the quality of patient care and satisfaction all the while maximizing profitability. Health service s executives are responsible for initiating fiscal strategies, planning for favorable outcomes, and executing their vision and measuring operational key performance indicators (KPI s). KPI s indicate how well their organization is achieving value through financial and clinical metrics that help drive vision and mission. To do this well, health service leadership require a 360 degree perspective of their organization s business performance to view and quickly understand where their organization compares universally. The Business Intelligence dashboard is a streamlined, easily accessible, and a more accurate and significant reporting process. It presents the ability to gauge performances, understand the impact of perpetually changing conditions; it assists in making quick and well informed decisions for performance scenario planning, as well as what if analysis, at all various levels of comprehensive and real time information. (Arthur 2008) observes that about 500TCF of natural gas are contained in unconventional reservoirs. Unconventional gas reservoirs account for approximately one third of the US natural gas production (Rafiqul, 2014). Over the years, reservoir engineers have relied on numerical simulators as a tool for modeling and predicting hydrocarbon recoveries (recovery factor) from reservoirs, which translates into the economic viablility (or not) of a petroleum asset. The accurate modeling of reservoir fluid flow using simulators depend largely on the description of actual rock/fluid interactions that occur within the reservoir. Unlike for the case of conventional reservoir systems, the flow physics for unconventional reservoirs (Tight gas, Coal bed methane, Shale reservoirs) are complicated by their unique features which include: extremely low permeability, complex fracture networks, non darcy flow, Klinkenberg effects, adsorption/desorption effects and rock deformation due to variations in effective stress in the reservoirs. Upon reviewing the findings, a SLP team was brought in to perform therapy via NMES, along with swallowing therapy (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). Swallowing therapy tasks included compensatory strategies and strengthening exercises (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). The NMES device of choice in the study was the Vitals Stim Therapy Unit (Holmes, Gudridge, Gaudiani, Mehler, 2012). The patients were tested orally using the following consistencies: puree, thin, nectar thick, honey thick, mechanical soft and regular textures. Their results were measured by using the Penetration Aspiration Scale that scores the passage and ejection of material into the airway and vocal folds. The scale provides a score ranging from one to
  • 38. Qualitative Modalities The text provided very information material regarding the effectiveness of the verity of modalities available to HCOs to provide data and information. Patient satisfaction measures are among the most readily available outcome measures. Accreditation requirements and advertising effort have already been established to collect these measures without a load of acquiring new or reprogramming existing systems to produce such quality measures. It is also imperative, however, to address issues involved in data capture with respect to how the data will be collected, when data should be collected, and which functional area will be responsible for data capture and reporting etc. Furthermore, web based technologies have emerged and had greatly simplified the process of data collection and analysis. It is very appealing to assume that these modalities are superior to traditional modes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. Population Growth In America The United States population is growing rapidly. At a rate of 0.7% per year currently, that equates to about 9 million new people a year, after the number of deaths are accounted for. With the number of people seen on the streets rising and the number of incarcerated criminals dropping to around 0.2%, it is difficult to see where all these new people are going to fit into society. As hard as it is to imagine a new baby born every eight seconds, that is the reality currently facing America. However, while this type of populationgrowth is likely going to cause America s demise, another country is currently populating at a rate even America cannot compete with: India. At an astonishing 1.7% increase per year, India is currently populated with almost 900 million more people than the United States. With less than half the land size and an undeniable need for more resources to survive, India has been faced with the largest increase of population within the last century. However, unlike the United States, India s government has taken crucial steps towards helping to control their population. Albeit, their methods are a bit unorthodox and incredibly appalling by Western standards. Regardless, in order to maintain a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the selected abortion of girls in addition to the sterilization of women of child bearing age has caused the ratio of women to men, in some communities, to be as small as eight to ten, with the younger generation being more susceptible to a wider
  • 40. Positive And Negative Outcomes Of The Crusades The Crusades were a group of Christians that Pope Urban II started back in 1095. They also had 9 Crusades, or 9 times when they would attack to get the Holy Land, against the Muslims and Jews, but mostly against the Muslims. During those battles there were both positive and negative. Were the results of the Crusades more positive or negative? The Crusades were more negative than positive because they worsen their relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, they destroyed and betrayed their closest ally, and their towns or cities were difficult to handle. One reason why the Crusades were more negative than positive was because they worsen their own relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, even tho they were bad anyways. Document 5 states that First, the long struggle between Islam and Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates (bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their Christian and Jewish subjects worsened. (description of some of the effects of the Crusades). This is (important/interesting/relevant) because even if the Christian and Muslims relationship was bad already the Crusades made it worse by the bitterness left and even the Jews now are in it because when the Crusades lost, they took their fury against the Jews and would slaughter and destroy their cities even though the lost against the Muslims. National Security Agency Essay National Security Agency/Central Security Service The National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) was established in November 1952 to provide a cryptologic organization for the civilian and military leaders of the United States and to provide them with timely information. The National Security Agency (NSA) coordinates, directs, and performs highly specialized activities to produce foreign intelligence information and protect United States information systems through two main missions, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Information Assurance (IA). It is said that the NSA employs more mathematicians than anyone else in the U.S. and possibly the world to help design and develop cipher systems that will protect information systems and search for weaknesses within the existing ones. Though NSA research and development is top secret, some of its past accomplishments were the development of the first large scale computer and the first solid state computer which led to the development of the modern computer. The NSA was also responsible for the development of the tape cassette. I believe the NSA has proven to be one of our greatest agencies. Not only has it developed technology to be used among every day civilians such as computers and cassette tapes, but has also developed life saving equipment including communication and code cracking machines for the men and women of our military. While serving in the U.S. Navy, I was stationed in a squadron that used spy planes equipped with modern day crypto machines. This technology was developed in the research and development teams of the NSA agencies to intercept signals
  • 42. Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History Summary Bad Girls Well behaved women seldom make history. I have seen that phrase and its slightly more common counterpart, Well behaved women rarely make history many times. It is especially popular in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a medieval history research and reenactment group in which I participate, and is often accompanied by images of female fighters in armor wielding swords. Most recently I saw it emblazoned upon my girlfriend s chest on a medieval themed t shirt that she bought at a recent SCA event. I have never thought much about the slogan except for the fact that it generally represents women who make themselves known in unforgettable ways and are remembered mostly for disrupting the status quo. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, an author and professor of history at Harvard University, introduced the phrase in a 1976 journal article about the characterization of women in Puritan funeral sermons. Ulrich more recently wrote a book, based on the phrase, that explores how women in the past have challenged the ways history was written. In her essay Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History, Ulrich discusses the history of the phrase, how it was coined, and how it has taken on a life of its own. The phrase is now commonly seen on everything from t shirts to coffee mugs, and has been featured in magazine articles and even advertising campaigns. She reflects on how her accidental fame has given her new insights into her historical studies. Since the 1970s and

Best of all, holidays normally mean gifts and plenty of good food! The celebrations are great, but it seems that at most every family Christmas or Thanksgiving, we are on the edge of our seats and nervous. I ve found that I am unable to concentrate on the festivities because my mind is wandering, thinking of our other loved ones. One of my favorite pieces of information I found was to face your feelings head on think of all emotions...positive and negative...be as sad as you want...work through anger and frustration...these are healthy feelings...it s common to feel love and anger at the same time Taken from a paper published on ( Alzheimer s Association website ). The next thing I found that helped me personally was how to deal with guilt, personally I ve experienced feeling guilty when taking a break or not being there for my grandma when she needed me, as well as regretting things I had done before knowing about the illness. Something interesting I found that I would ve never thought of was to continue to participate in as many activities as possible.( Alzheimer s Association pg. ) I also found that a good way to keep an emotional connection longer is to personally connect with the sufferer. A few ways to do that is to keep eye contact with throughout the conversation, to always refer to them by name when talking, continue the conversation as long as possible because is makes the person with AD feel better about themselves, and be aware of the body language you re presenting ( Grief and loss as Alzheimer s progresses pg. ). • 45. The Articles Of Association ( Aoa ) Forms The Constitution... The Articles of Association (AOA) forms the constitution of the Company. It regulates the internal affairs of the company by defining the responsibilities of directors, the type of business and the means by which the shareholders exert control over the Board of Directors . This essay will illustrate the similarities and differences of the AOA to a contract and how it is special in nature. Based on Section 14 of the Companies Act 1985 , AOAs are on the same level and to the same extent as if the company and shareholders had signed a contract. This is illustrated by Sterling J s statement in Wood v Odessa Waterworks Company which reads: The articles of association constitutes a contract not merely between shareholders and the company but also between the individual shareholders and every other . The equivalence of AOA to a contract is conclusive in New British Iron Co per Wright J s judgment whereby it completely replaces or stands in lieu of the missing employment contract. This highlights the fact that AOA possesses contractual value and is contractual by nature. In simple terms, it is from its conception considered as an enforceable agreement and hence it is legally binding. As such, it is evident that AOAs serves all purposes of a regular contract. AOAs however is a special legal document as it possesses distinct features that differentiates it from being an ordinary contract . An ordinary contract has permanent signatories or perpetual parties while the

Pros And Cons Of Data Security On Piotrowski et alcite{Piotrowski}, the authors present a collaborative data storage (tinyDSM) middleware that addresses the common problems of store data on wireless sensor networks (WSN) using data replication on nodes of the network. However, in the proposal, the decision of the node to assume the role of data replicators is static and uses a random criterion depends only on the number of nodes and density of the network. It s created some problems if that node disappears from the network. Although the proposed address addresses a relevant problem in the IoT area, the work does not address the persistence of data at the edge of the network, considering the dynamic environment of Mist computing. On Confais et alcite{Confais} the authors evaluate through performance analysis three off the shelf object store solutions, namely Rados, Cassandra and InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) in Fog context environment. However, the used software platforms need devices with some computation processing power, so it is not applicable for simple devices, often found it in IoT environment. Therefore, given $D$, a data block of size $L$, which it wants to persist in the environment of Fog/Mist computing. Let s define $F$ as the network devices located at the edge of the network, and dynamically composed by $n$ active devices at time stamp $t$, among a total possible of $N_{t}$ devices. Where the set of vertex $V$ are the $n$ active devices at the instant $t$, and $E$ the set of edges formed by the communication link between them. In our approach, the devices that are part of $F$ at instant $t$,

The initial bill, the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act (S.3688) was introduced in the Senate on November 17, 2008, in which an amended version of the bill materialized on March 6, 2014 under the name, Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014 or S.2097. The Act or law of 2008 would amend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program established under the Supplemental Appropriations Act (SAA) of 2008, which provided several additional weeks of extended benefits for those who have exhausted their unemployment insurance benefits (Whittaker, 2008). The current bill, the Responsible Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2014 also amends the earlier version of the Act of 2008. This current bill seeks to exempt weeks of unemployment between enactment of this Act by November 30, 2014, from the prohibition in the Federal State Extended Unemployment Compensation Act (FSEUCA) of 1970 against federal matching payments to a state for the first week in an individual s eligibility period for which extended compensation or sharable regular compensation is paid if the state law provides for payment of regular compensation to an individual for his or her first week of otherwise compensable unemployment (Vroman, 2009).
