Raymond alone in the casino s bar. She is able to get Raymond to allude to his and Charlie s
system of counting of cards. Later, security asks to speak to Charlie privately and suggests that
Charlie take his winnings, about $80,000 and leave. In the end, Charlie finds himself becoming
protective of Raymond, and grows to truly care for and love him. Upon arriving in Los Angeles,
Charlie finally meets with his attorney to try to get his share of his inheritance, but then decides

However, at a meeting with a court appointed psychiatrist and Dr. Bruner, because of Raymond s
mental condition he is unable to decide exactly what he wants. One option being to live with
Charlie in California and the other is staying at the mental hospital in Ohio. Eventually, the
psychiatrist presses Raymond to make the decision, upsetting him and leading Charlie to request

Religion Affects Daily Life
How does Religion Affect Daily Lives?
The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others. Dalai Lama. Religion is not
something people blindly follow for the hope of reaching heaven. At one point or another in life,
every person encounters the moment where they make the decision of being an active religious
person, a religious person but don t attend church, or don t believe in a superior power. Whether a
person chooses option one, two, or three, each choice brings consequences and a different life
with that choice. People live a different kind of life, with different goals to reach, and what kind of
life a person may want to live. Religion has a profound effect on people s daily lives, and the areas
it affects are work life, family life, and the standards a person holds.
Work Life
It happens to everyone, people are at work (or school) and have a project due on Monday, but
they see the clock ticking closer and closer to 5pm, and have that urge to slip out a few mins
early so they can get ahead of schedule on ordering the wings and pizza and getting good movie
tickets. The consequence of doing this is the person having to choose whether to finish the project
on Saturday, Sunday, or if the person really wants to push it, Monday morning. So what option are
you going to take?
Work Smarter, Not Harder
Full time committed religious people know the regular weekend schedule. Saturday is the day to
sleep in, cook some good breakfast, and take the kids

Chapter 4 Simulation Experiment
4.1 Network Simulators According to dictionary, Simulation can be defined as ―reproduction of
essential features of something as an aid to study or training. In simple words, this process is
called where we can build one model of math called simulated in order to solve the problem of the
system. In order to simulate the ad hoc network Networks or so called MANET There are many
simulation available networks such as QUALNET , OPENET and NS2 etc[25]. First part of this
section, we will take the overview of all such networks with their usage, advantages and
disadvantages of using it. For our simulation, we have to finalize the one out of them depending on

Choice in which the routing is done along multiple paths because its provides the number of routing
protocols .
NS2 is developed as the completely object oriented network simulator by Using the technologies
such as OTcL and CPP. The class hierarchy which is presented in the OTcL and C++ interpreted is
very much supported by the network simulator in which there is one to one mapping in between
compile hierarchy and the class in the interpreted hierarchy .
NS2 contain two types of programming languages used that we have discussed above, such as C
++ and OTcl :
Use C++ : is used for the speed efficiency in the simulation of the networks.
Use OTcl: the reason is that OTcl language is suitable for the programs and configurations which
are demanding for the fast and frequent network changes.
Thus such tool is very flexible for the useNs 2 as it also allows user to existing protocols for their
application simulations as well as to develop their network protocol in order to extend the
functionality of the tool. Network simulator also helps for the performance measurement from the
trace analysis functionality which is very important for the research purposes in order to measure
the efficiency of particular application or particular routing protocol. NS2 is open source and free
software tool which is widely available for downloads from the Internet. It was initially developed

Essay on Robert Ressler Coined the Term Serial Killer
We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more
of your children dead tomorrow. (Ted Bundy). Serial killers are not always those people that look
like monsters or behave in strangeous ways. Sometimes they are the successful people, the ones
that have a family and a job. The term Serial Killerwas first coined by Robert Ressler, former
director of the FBI s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. Serial killers are often defined as
people that kill two or more people over a period of more than 30 days with cooling off periods
between each kill. Many historical criminologists suggest that serial killing has been a component
of society since the beginning; suggesting that old stories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The triad includes fire setting, animal cruelty, and enuresis (bed wetting). A highly debate issue
around serial killers is the reason behind their actions. Although many theories exist about the
reason why serial killers act the way they do, the most common theory is that they are searching
for some type of psychological satisfaction. A very common theory behind the reason of the
actions of serial killers is the social control theory. This theory states that serial killers behave the
way they do due to their inability to cope and adapt to society. Another well known theory is the
neutralization theory. This theory states that murderers sometimes move from an invisible baseline
and commit illegal actions while sometimes moving back and acting in a conventional way. The
last theory is the labeling theory. This theory, created by Erving Goffman, states that people act
the way they do due to the labels that society has created for them. Therefore, if a kid is labeled as
a troublemaker at a very young age, it is more likely that he will continue with this behavior through
adulthood. From Ted Bundyto BTK to the Zodiac Killer , serial killers have been around the
United States for a long time, but none is better than Richard Chase, or better known as the
Vampire of Sacramento , to investigate the reasons behind serial killers. Born on May 23, 1950,
Chase was raised in a very strict house and was constantly abused by his parents. As a

Anti Depressants The Best Treatment For Depression
More than 84,000 adolescents and adults were prescribed drugs in the years 2004 2005. Are anti
depressants the best treatment for depression? Although in some cases, anti depressants do
effectively treat depression, the best treatment is to combine anti depressants with therapy.
Depression can destroy the essence of a teen s personality, which can cause an overwhelming
sense of sadness, anger, and despair. Depression is a serious problem that impacts every aspect of
a person s life. Signs and symptoms of depression can include sadness and hopelessness; irritability,
anger, hostility; frequent crying; withdrawal from friends and family; a loss of interest in activities;

Therapy is there to help cut down a negative lifestyle that is caused by depression. Results with
treating depression can vary on the patient. Psychotherapy and counseling are more common ways
of treatment. Both psychotherapy and counseling are very similar and are more for moderate levels
of depression. They involve talking to a therapist that tries their best to help them regain their sense
of control. Sometimes, depending on the individual; psychotherapy and counseling can worsen
depression. But, there has been a high success rate with the individual s outcome after going
through psychotherapy and counseling. Ways that counseling and psychotherapy are beneficial is
that it can help you handle emotions from problems or anything causing one stress. Another reason
is because it can make you feel like you have a purpose. Talking to someone and letting go of
previous problems helps a lot and can reassure one. Although psychotherapy and counseling is
shown to help, there are also negative impacts that can come along. One negative impact can be that
your problems worsen. Sometimes a therapist brings out the worst in you and instead of helping,
actually can be a cause of problems. Another impact is the patient starting to rationalize or
intellectualize. Rationalizing is making excuses for something

Expansion of the First Sound of the Future Everyone loves music! Except deaf people. Though if
a loyal fan were to hear a confession from their favorite artist that they are in fact, not human but
instead, synthesizer paired with a hologram, then how will he react? Will he still listen to the artist
s music, or feel betrayed? Is anything wrong at all?
An example of this is Miku Hatsune: a Japanese teal haired, slender 16 year old girl designed by
artist KEI who sings her fans songs in a high pitched voice. Her name literally meaning first sound
of the future . Though she has never lied about her identity, she is no human. Miku Hatsune is a

Out of all the instruments in the world, the human voice is the most difficult for a computer to
imitate since it is so complex. However that is just what the average person thinks. During Miku
s Live Party 39s Live in Tokyo concert, just when the girl steps out on stage to sing When the
First Love Ends , she turns away teary eyed trying to compose herself. The crowd went nuts!
Fans cry over depressing songs such as Servant of Evil , Paper Plane , and Kokoro which are all
sung by the Kagamine twins who are infamous within the fandom for dying in many songs.
Perhaps what those people, who disapprove of VOCALOID for being fake, are afraid of is that
robots are gonna take over the world .
A human singer could feel threatened by the technology, fearing that they will be replaced. Aoi, the
guitarist and backing vocals of the Japanese Visual Kei band, the Gazette, expresses his dismay.
Tokyohive writes:
Aoi tweeted on November 14th that he wasn t too thrilled about how listeners and magazines treat
animated singers as real [artistic] works. He does admit that the technology behind the software is

Essay about The Media’s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The Media s Effect on Adolescent Bodies
The stringent standard Barbie doll proportions of body image and what is considered beautiful
in today s media has resulted in devastating effects on adolescent women. The images displayed
of women who have long beautiful legs, thin waist lines and smooth flawless skin are very hard
to ignore. Throughout history the female body has been on display as a selling tool to coerce
people into buying that new fancy car or the latest new appliance that can make their everyday
lives easier. Commercials of the extremely thin Kelly Ripa can act as a mantra of what a modern

In her book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf criticizes the media and its negative effects on women
by stating that every woman should be allowed the choice to do whatever we want with our faces
and bodies without being punished by an ideology that is using attitudes, economic pressure, and
even legal judgments regarding women s appearance to undermine us psychologically and
politically (10). Some of the most common negative effects that young girls are experiencing are
physical, emotional, and social.
The physical effect s that the media has on a young girl s overall beauty and body image are
staggering. Many young girls put their bodies through painful physical transformations. They
want to look just like their favorite celebrities or to fit into the latest fashion trends and appeal to
the media s idea of what the opposite sex wants them to look like. Willis s The Culture of Beauty,
argues this point by saying The Media distract women from focusing on what bodies do...
dressing up, dressing down or sculpting our bodies in pursuit of a profile the we d be happy to
avoid dressing altogether. They print lessons available to male readers regarding what s desirable
and ideal when it comes to the sizes and shapes of women s body parts (106 107). What s even
more disturbing is the physical appearance of girls who starve themselves to reach the

celebrations for our great nation and all of our achievements that have shaped the Australia we

Assassination Of Jfk. In The Assassination Attempt On John
Assassination of JFK
In the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States of
America, on 22 November 1963 in Dallas, Kennedy (1917 1963) was fatally shot by Lee Harvey
Oswald. As a suspect, Lee Harvey Oswald (1939 1963) was arrested and killed two days later by
the nightclub owner Jack Ruby (1911 1967) in police custody.
Kenny s successor, Lyndon B. Johnson, the Warren Commission concluded that Oswald was the
only culprit. A later convicted investigative committee of the House of Representatives (HSCA),
however, found that there were probably several perpetrators. Clear forensic evidence for this has
not been revealed, but more recent investigations of the available material have strengthened ...

aftereffect of a plot, not the demonstration of a solitary executioner. Fifty one percent trust Oswald

since Kennedy s passing more than 2,000 books have been composed about the death, huge

Did the soviets kill Kennedy? The Soviets appear like a conspicuous decision in case you re

proof. To begin with, the U.S. furthermore, the Soviet Union were occupied with a severe cool war.
Trick scholars assert that Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev was so humiliated by backing down
after the Cuban Missile Crisis he requested the hit on Kennedy. The other convincing bit of
confirmation is Lee Harvey Oswald s association with the USSR. Although a previous marine,
Oswald had twice gone by the Soviet Union with his Russian conceived spouse Marina. Both the

The first problem that I noticed when I read the case was the fact it mentioned that HP was under

This fact lets me know that there should have been various levels of management from the CEO on
down to the first level employees. In order for a company to be successful there has to be a
vision and direction should be provided to carry out that vision. As CEO, Carly Fiorina took care
of being the face of the company but neglected to provide that much needed direction internally.

It would appear that HP made the right decision by bringing on Mark Hurd as its new Chief
Executive Officer. He was brought in to correct a lot of the management deficiencies that Carly
Fiorina left behind. Mark Hurd brought with him a focus on execution and he began working
from the bottom up. I think that his method was needed at that time because it works well when
dealing with a vertical management structure. All levels must feel important and involved in
making the company successful. Although Mark Hurd maybe the face of the company, he is
not the only person that keeps it going. As a good leader does, he kept what worked. In this case
it was keeping the overall strategy that Carly Fiorina had in place but he provided specific
visionary purposes. He had to restructure divisions and ultimately lay off over 14,000 employees
to maintain the company s budget goals. In the long run, Mark Hurd made the difficult decisions
that needed to be made to bring the company back on track. His actions earned the trust of his
employees and therefore I would conclude that he boosted the overall morale of his employees.

The Importance Of Investing In Stocks
Investing in Stocks
When you are younger saving for something in the future such as retirement may be one of your
lowest priorities. Although it is such a low priority it should not be. When you are young is the
exact time you should start saving in order to get the maximum funds possible. One of the best
ways to help money grow over a long period of time is investing in some sort of the stock market;
mutual funds, exchange traded funds, or a well diversified mix of individual stocks. There are
many different ways to spread your money out in the stock market. Spreading the money out in the

The only time to actually buy stocks or shares is when the market is open. It is possible to place
orders that will be executed once the market is open but it is not possible to buy any stocks or
shares after hours. It is also important to know what a stock or share means. Essentially a stock is
just a share in a company. A stock or share represents a claim on the company s assets and
earnings. This means the better a company does then it is likely the price of a share or stock in
that company is going to rise. This is due to the fact that the company is now worth more so in
correlation so are the stocks or shares in said company. Another term that might be heard is equity.
This is basically a synonym to the word share in this instance. It just represents a percentage or an
amount of the company that a shareholder owns. A shareholder is someone who holds stock in a
company.
Not every company offers stocks or shares however. Some companies are considered private
companies. This means that 100% of the company is owned by the company itself. Whereas
public companies offer stocks and shares which basically means that the public owns a certain
percentage of the company. For example Apple only owns about 43% of their own company. That
means that the public essentially owns about 57% of Apple! It is crazy to think that the public can
own such a big portion of such a large influential company like Apple. Public companies are the

Also, Australia s and China s Foreign Direct (FDI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth
saw huge declines during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC). Both economies, being highly
export driven, especially China saw GDP declines from 2007 to 2008. Australia declined by
1.9% and China by 4.6%. Both economies also experienced a huge fall in FDI Australia s FDI

Hamlet Bad Choices
Choices are the decisions we make in life, some are good others are bad. Choosing a bad
decision can affect families mentally, financially and emotionally. Bad choices always have
consequences. A persons emotions can alter them into making terrible choices. Sometimes there is
not a choice that is positive. Some people have choices that require sacrifice in order to survive.
People will have regrets if they make the wrong decision. Choices are decided by the emotional
state our brains are in.
Our emotions are hardwired into our brains that affect our morals and decisions. Our emotions
will sometimes make decisions for us. If our emotions are altered it will create impulsive or
irrational decisions. For example in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is
emotionally unstable and is angry with his mother because she does not value the death of his
father. At the moment Polonius yells for help behind the drapes for him Hamlet stabs him thinking
it was Claudius. Hamlet used his anger to make a decision, to either kill the person behind the
drapes, assumably Claudius. Or making the right choice and and discovering who is behind the
drapes; if it was Claudius then killing him. This demonstrates the role emotions play in for deciding
our choices. But what happens if there is not a right choice. ... Show more content on

Comparing Memory Test Performance
The author of the following excerpt concluded that the study was statistically significant. The
hypothetical research article compared memory test performance between two groups of
participants: those who consumed a caffeinated beverage before the test and those who consumed a
non caffeinated beverage:
An independent samples t test was conducted to examine the difference between experimental
conditions on test performance. The results indicated a significant difference between participants
who consumed the caffeinated beverage and participants who did not, with participants in the
caffeinated group (M = 7.64, SD = 2.41) performing worse than participants in the non caffeinated
group (M = 9.81, SD = 3.16), t (97) = 2.14, p .05.
It tells that the t statistic with 97 degrees of freedom was 2.14, and the corresponding p value was
less than .05, specifically around 0.035. Therefore, it is appropriate to conclude the research study

But what does a statistically significant result really mean?
The main purpose of the most researchers in conducting a research study is to achieve a statistically

Racial Discrimination Past, Present, And Future
Racial Discrimination Past, Present, and Future
Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said, We have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in
2014, discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways . This quote rings
true where equality in the workplace is concerned. In Toni Cade Bambara s short story The Lesson
, we see what social discrimination looks like through the eyes of children who are observing a
wealthier part of town. In their eyes, they see and injustice and question why it is not being altered
into something centered more on equality and equal opportunity. Toni Cade Bambara s story The
Lesson is written to make a point about racial discrimination in the workplace and social inequality.
In Bambara s short story, we are told the tale of several kids who are being taken for a day out by
Miss Moore, a woman in their neighborhood. Along the way, she gives them lessons about how to
handle money and to pay fairly. She also teaches them that just by saving, they can eventually get
what they want. While she talks away, the kids observe their surroundings. They feel out of place
in the wealthy neighborhood that Miss Moore has brought them to in the story. Something that
helped show there was judgment and a feeling of uneasiness, was when one of the children stated,
But what I got to be shamed about? Got as much right to go in as anybody (Bambara). This was
said when they were walking into the toy store. The children could sense hate or

Personal Assessment Of Strengths And Areas For Development
What did you learn about your leadership? Personal Assessment of Strengths and Areas for
Development. I have more than one overdone strengths. One of them is over optimism about
people, organization, and trust in the management team. Whether it s upper level, or middle
management, I always feel that they know the best, and they know what they are doing. I only
see that everything is done accurately as they are versus how they could or should be.
Remaining loyal to others and the organization does cause issues for me, because others don t
normally see it that way. Trying to make things easier for others, or trying to be less of a burden
on others is perceived as I have no backbone of myself. Defending the rights of others is seen as I
m just always siding with the others. Ensuring others are valued is seen as what do I need from
them. Being sincere is seen as I don t know what I m doing, and am very easy to please, so I can
be ignored. Involve family and friends to point out to me when I m over using my strengths. This
will make me aware of what I really need to concentrate on. This will help me focus and align my
strengths on the needs of everyone, and the organization, and concentrate on other people who have
complementary strengths. Realization that my overdone strengths could in fact be detrimental to
not only my progress, but also others. In general, overdoing it may hurt my effectiveness just as

Essay On Endogenous Modulation Of Pain
Second, this study also provides supporting evidence for endogenous modulation of pain based on
fc changes compared cLBP in different pain condition with HC and within cLBP. Substantial
evidence is accumulating to show that the striatum plays an important role in the endogenous
modulation of pain.
Published data provide evidence that the limbic system is essential to chronic pain processing59.
The NAc is a critical node in this network. Functional interactions between component structures in
the limbic system are wide ranging. Previous studies show that the nucleus accumbens (NAc) is
extensively anatomically connected with cortical areas including cingulate, prefrontal cortex,

Therefore, some previous studies hypothesized that these brain regions, especially within the
emotional corticolimbic system, acted as the bridge of pain modulation and stress regulation5.
In practice, research on the emotional brain has often focused on a few structures thought to be
central to this type of processing hypothalamus, amygdala, insula, and so on. However, chronic pain
frequently coexists with other disorders such as anxiety, depression, or learning and memory
deficits. This co occurrence might manifest if chronic pain were to precipitate neuroplastic changes
in supra spinal structures, such as amygdala, that lead to these pain related disorders.
We also found the bilateral VSs, DC, DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased
connectivity with the right DLPFC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP.
The bilateral DCP and DRP had significantly overlay increased connectivity with the right insular
cortex and ACC in cLBP in HP compared with cLBP in LP.
The above mentioned dorsal and ventral striatum, amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), the
anterior insular and the orbitofrontal cortex are all implicated in reward as well as pain processing.
Recent experimental data suggest that basal ganglia may also be involved in various dimensions of
pain sensation and pain experience 69. So far, there

Construction Project Essay
The design phase in the construction project life cycle is considered as a significant contributor to
the project performance. Many researchers have considered this phenomenon as being dependent
on the project success which comprises of quality, cost, time and sustainability. Nowadays, most
of the construction projects must be delivered through the fast track, therefore it is difficult to co
ordinate between the specialists and personnel as there is no accepted platform of good practice
in managing the design process (Bibby, 2003). Although some technologies have been developed
and applied in construction projects, the performance of the construction industry is still
considered low (Sacks Goldin, 2007). (Aziz Hafez, 2013) argue that the current technologies can
only improve the management of the construction process, however, in improving quality of the
projects effectively, it does not reduce cost and time of design and construction. This is referred to
as the traditional method that is still in place and currently being practiced in the industry. The
objective of this work is to present the innovative design process in building construction projects
where lean thinking (LT) is being considered for design process improvements. This research
proposes a design process model that integrates LT into the traditional design process with
activities which are able to eliminate wastes in the design process. The model is based on the set

The Portrayal of Television Violence in the U.S. Programs and Its Impact on Viewers
Introduction
Over the past one three decades, there have been cases of increased child violence as well as adult
conflicts. Many theories have been developed to explain this growing trend in the society. Media
violence has been one of the factors considered.
There has been continuous research with regards to the relationship that exists between media
violence s and the behavior of the viewers. Some of this research has focused on children and
teenagers. Despite most of them indicating the absence of a strong relationship with real life
violence, there have been proof that it affects other aspects such educational performance and social
relationships.
The contextual features of violence portrayals and their input on viewers are depicted in a number
of ways. These include:
пѓ Justification: the society and the media sponsors seek to justify the violence scenes in
programs with the demand for entertainment. This has been a major point of conflict.
пѓ The consequence of violence: the impact of violence in the media on the society is taken
lightly among many groups. The argument made by some individuals is that its impacts are mostly
on young children, and the effects fade away as they grow.
пѓ Violence portrayal with humor: this has been the trend in presenting media violence. Violence
in movies, video games and general programs has been

Oh No, GMO s
People have been farming and growing plants and grains for thousands of years while Genetically
Modified Organisms (GMO S) have been hitting the market place for decades. These are items
such as produce, grain products and even the meat products we eat. A GMO is an organism that
has had its DNA altered to fit a specific need or purpose. Are foods that are grown as or processed
with GMO s okay to eat, or are they unhealthy and harmful? Some people would say modifying
this DNA is an unethical thing to do, and I would have to agree. If it were ethical, the question we
need to ask ourselves is, why would other countries like those in the European Union, ban such
modifications? Monsanto, producer of Roundup and the company who leads ... Show more content

World War I was one of the worst wars the world has ever seen, because it resulted in many
casualties. The war, mostly occurred because allies attacked other countries which resulted in
the countries allies to attack them. During this period of time people were miserable because
most of their farmland was destroyed due to the war, but it was even worse for the soldiers
because the war grounds were dangerous and the only safe places were the trenches. There more,
WWI was one of the deadliest wars in the world, because it had many fatalities and was full of
deadly weapons. The most deadliest parts of the war were fought in the Italian border and the alps

The War is an example of the evil man can do, because many soldiers showed no shame into
killing their victim. We frequently refer to humans as the root of evil because we have no heart
in what we do. Critical attributes of the war are ammunition and trenches because without
ammunition you wouldn t be able to defend yourself, and trenches are one of the safest places to
be during the war. A defining characteristic of the war is mobilization because you needed that to
assemble troops and to get them ready for war. The key components of WWI are mostly trenches
because it resulted in protection from the ammunition. An explanation of peace provides insight
into the war because, like I said before there was no purpose in why they were fighting the war.
Therefore, WWI had a significant impact on society because it resulted in many crops and land
destroyed which shortened their food supply. One can trace the major causes of WWI to the allies
because they fought with one and other. The critical factors was the assassination of Archduke
Franz which resulted in the allies getting involved. Therefore the war was inhumane because people
turned against each other, in which they tortured each other to death, which is awful because
humans aren t supposed to be violent but, are to be peaceful

Characteristics Of Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
Introduction
In this paper, I will argue that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our
relationship to the media in the United States.
To make this argument, I will first outline the characteristics of Plato s cave.
Second I will argue that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our relationship to
the media in the United States.
Third, I will entertain the most persuasive possible counterargument to my view, which is that the
United States media is not a good representation of the media in the United States.
Fourth, I will refute this counterargument (counterargument, not argument) by giving examples of
how some media sources cherry pick what to tell and what not to say to the public. So the public
does not have all the facts.
Finally, I will conclude my paper by summarizing the main lines of argument in it and reiterating
thesis that Plato s Allegory of the Cave is a good representation of our relationship to the media in
the United States.
Outline
I will now outline the characteristics of Plato s Allegory of the cave. In the Allegory of the Cave,
Plato distinguishes between people who mistake sensory knowledge for the truth and people who
do see the fact. It goes like this: Imagine a cave, in which there are three prisoners. The prisoners
are constrained to some rocks, their arms and legs are bound, and their head is tied so that they
cannot look at anything but the stonewall in front of them. These prisoners have been here since

Book Reports On The Alchemist
Between the summer reading choice and novel synopses, The Alchemist was most interesting to
me, but I didn t know what the alchemist was. So I researched on it before I read this book. The
alchemist is a person who studies how to transfer metal into gold, so I thought, according to the
subject the story would be about a journey of studying how to transfer lead into gold. But my
prediction was completely wrong until now. Transforming lead into gold takes just a few parts
of the story. The main character, Santiago is a shepherd who is well educated. He is well
educated because he was preparing for a prestige. I didn t get why Santiago wants to be a
shepherd. The shepherd was a humble career, and prestige was a good career. Shepherds were
mostly not educated. The merchant s daughter asked him how did you learn to read. From that
question, I learned that Shepherd is not educated. The only good thing about Shepherd is
traveling. Just because of the dream, it is not right to change career. If I was Santiago, I would

US Supreme Court Case Analysis
The U.S. Supreme Court declared that a person has the right to represent himself or herself at a
criminal trial based on case law from Faretta v. California (Cabell, 2012). Many people have a
preset notion that those who wish to represent themselves are mentally ill, obtuse, believe they
can beat the system, or simply are arrogant (Cabell, 2012). I do believe in certain jurisdictions it
would be an advantage to conduct a defense pro se. One reason for this would be the fact that
some jurisdictions have severe staffing issues with their public defenders office, which are also
extremely burdened with a heavy work assignment (Cabell, 2012). In some of these cases, a
defendant can possibly provide themselves a better defense than a court appointed attorney
(Cabell, 2012). In some cases, the accused simply lose the trust of their council and the U.S.
Supreme Court has stipulated that a defendant can always have control over the course of their
trial (Cabell, 2012). Also, current data shows that people who choose a defense pro se, often have

What effects does alcohol abuse have on our memory? The world s most popular drug, alcohol has
both an acute and chronic effect on memory. Memory is the process in which information is

Orange Damnation Of The Vietnam s Orange Damnation
Vietnam s Orange Damnation In recent history, there has been an abundance of chemical warfare
that caused harm to society, nature, and immeasurable damage post war. To be more specific, the
Vietnam war was one of the most noticeable conflicts that was destructive to both parties involved
through chemical warfare, not only to the soldiers but also the environment. During the 1960s
through to current day, the chemical pollution of the many mangrove forests near local villages led
to health problems for the local Vietnamese people and the American soldiers. Located in Vietnam,
mangrove forest was one of the main sources of vegetation for enemy soldiers during the war. To
decrease enemy morale, the chemical herbicide, known as Agent Orange, was made by the U.S. to

Knowledge And Epistemology And The Philosophy Of Knowledge
According to the oxford dictionary belief can be defined as an acceptance that something exists or
is true, especially one without proof . Beliefs are the best factor that influence in the decision
making process. In other words, the beliefs students hold have a great effect on the perceptions and
the judgments they make about the world. In educationand especially in social sciences beliefs are
studied through epistemology. Epistemology is the philosophy of knowledge and how it is
acquired(Bryman, 2016). Beliefs are mostly developed through social interaction and direct
messages that we receive from our surrounding. This belief may develops in a long period of time
or may be it takes only a minute if the message received or social interaction is so
powerful(Tillema, 1998). Beliefs may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positivism is based on the principle that knowledge is acquired when tested through senses and is
based on facts. As it is more scientific phenomena then it is based on the objectivity or fixity of
knowledge(Bryman, 2016). Whereas, constructivism states that knowledge is constructed through
social agents and it is in the constant state of revision. Hence it promotes variability of
knowledge(Bryman, 2016).
As Pakistani society is based on the concept of fundamentalism, which promotes the fixity of
knowledge, hence the students who are produced through this education system of Pakistan have
more or less positivist beliefs which concerned to the fixity of knowledge(Skov, 2007). So beliefs
shape behavior which can be seen in the actions of the students. To understand the beliefs of
Student teachers we just look at the ways they respond to the fixity of knowledge. So if I see the
bigger picture, the understanding of the beliefs of teachers are essential to bring change in teacher
education programs(Tillema, 1998).

the Anthropogenic Climate change is influencing natural and human living conditions. With an
increase in the risk of disaster which is turning to be a constrain in development and growth. The
anthropogenic generation of greenhouse gases (GHGS) is continuously making the temperature
rise. The energy use for industrial production and goods, services since last 200 years changed the
atmospheric conditions. The contents of greenhouse gases like CO2 (carbon dioxide), N2, O
(nitrous oxide), O3 (tropospheric ozone), CH4 (methane) (Trenberth, 1992), which is the main
cause of natural disaster like draught and flood which ultimately becomes a cause of economic
loss. (Pachauri and Reisinger, 2007) For sample During 1980s the financial misfortunes from dry
seasons totalled a few hundred million U.S. dollars in Africa, its seen that dry spells and surges are
more basic since most recent 30 years, around 25% of the contemporary African populace
encounters high water stress. Around 69% of the populace live under states of relative water

Rick Perry
Rick Perry
In Section 1 of Article II of the United States Constitution, it is stated that the president is
allowed to serve four years before the election process is once again re initiated. Accordingly,
every four years, new presidential candidates pop up in hopes of becoming the next President of
the United States. 2012 is such a year, and one of the candidates was Rick Perry.
It is interesting to note that when Rick Perry first entered the political scene, becoming elected to
the Texas House of Representatives in 1984, his party affiliation was as a Democrat. It was only
in 1989 that Rick Perry announced he was switching parties and became a Republican. In 1990,
after serving six years (three terms) on the Texas Legislature, he ... Show more content on

This alternative includes restructuring federal Medicaid funding and making it easier for citizens to
afford the health coverage that their employer provides.
Many of Rick Perry s decisions assert his support of the 10th amendment, but perhaps the most
monumental indicator may be his book, Fed Up! in which he accuses the federal system of being a
tyrannical government that takes too much power from the states and stresses repetitively that the
states matter more. In his preface, he emphasizes, I believe that states are critical components of our
federal system of government, that the Founders recognized their importance, and that empowering
the states is the best way to ensure our God given right to live according to the dictates of our
consciences. To sum it up, Rick Perry s core belief is that giving state governments the freedom to
regulate their economy, business, health care, and education on their own without government
intrusion is the only way to go.
When it comes to domestic issues, in particular the economy, Rick Perry may have had some
ideas worth listening to. There were many reasons why American citizens would have been very
pleased with his economic plan and its policies: lower taxes, more jobs, a balanced budget, and a
more responsible, capable government. In an editorial he wrote for the Wall Street Journal in
October 2011, he explains the tax and spending reform plan that would come to define him

Archetypes In The Amazing Spider Man
In the movie, The Amazing Spider Man, the director uses the archetypes, The Battle of Good vs
Evil, The Hero, The Tyrant, The Warrior, Sidekicks, and The Forest. We as humans, will not find
our confidence in ourselves for a long time because bravery is a hard thing to accomplish and is a
difficult task to do by yourself. This theme is conveyed throughout the entire movie because people
need to step up and face the evil that could await them if they don t find the confidence from what
makes the person the person. Spider Manwas shown to be a nerdy high schooler who doesn t make
many friends. He gets bitten by a radioactive spider and gains powers that nobody would have ever

He wanted to be the hero and save the people of queens from death. He had nothing else to do
with his powers. Police didn t have the power to kill The Lizard and Spider Man was the only
one with the power needed to take down The Lizard. It took courage and bravery to do
something that could get him killed. Knowing that you could be killed doing something is a
frightening thought. Not many people will make life threatening situations. This theme is
conveyed throughout the entire movie because Spider Man needs to stop the The Lizard from
killing more people or causing destruction to the world. He doesn t stop when it comes to giving
up. He keeps trying to save many people. Doing what you don t want can show courage and
confidence in yourself. Spider Man represents The Hero archetype because he is showing a great
amount of courage to fulfill his task. He has to restore balance throughout New York City. This
theme is conveyed throughout all of Spider Man s fights because he shows that one can accomplish
anything, if they try. Giving up should never happen. People need to put their full extent into
everything so they can show that the confidence and bravery help make them succeed in what they

Om Sokdae Characters
To some extent, a person who holds a vast majority of exceptional traits can be classified as the
simple word, hero. A hero requires an abundance of personality, life experience, and achievements.
Heroic people can be found everywhere, everyday. It is only a matter of interpretation to see if that
one particular person is worth the title. I suppose that there can be different types of heros, either in
fantasy or reality. In the novel, Our Twisted Heroby Yi Munyol, that one particular person to be
interpreted prevails a twisted hero. A twisted hero is more or less a hero who represents power,
feeling, and contains the intrepidity of a leader. He is Om Sokdae, a person who is thought to

Han, the main character of the novel, is a grown man recalling his 5th and part of 6th grade class,
where Sokdae held power. Han wondered what made him so substantial. In the United States,
when a child goes to elementary school, she encounters other children who think that they are
better than everyone else just because their teacher always chooses them to volunteer or
compliments their outfit. When I was in the 5th grade, there was a girl who stopped being my
friend because I let my actions speak louder than my words and joined another group, one that
held all of the popularity. I thought I belonged because of the outfit choices I made and
endearment I got from adults. My mind never brooded over what I had done because the power
and new personality I thought I had took over and I was left with uncontained superiority. The
idea of an event like this happening in elementary school is not absurd because it provides
understanding of social stratification in the world outside of the soul. So in the novel, Sokdae s
rank situation should not be declined, for it is an insight of social stratification and almost defines a

How Tunisia Changed My Life
It s funny, how we humans try to prepare ourselves mentally for a monumental moment in our
life, we envision the moment a million times genuinely believing that, that s the way it will
occur, and then when we truly think we ve actually succeeded at it, the life altering moment
comes and you realize that no amount of preparation could have prepared us for it, The moment
when your dream becomes a reality. The feeling is indescribable; it sweeps you off your feet and
knocks the wind out of you. You suddenly feel hopeless not knowing what to do or say, all those
times you relied on your mindto save you are gone, because in that moment, your mind is as in
awe as you are. This was the feeling I felt when I stepped of the plane, in Tunisia
It all happened on June 16th 2012, the trip that changed my life forever. Let s rewind a little,
ever since I was 10 years old I dreamed of embarking on a trip half away across the world, where
I would find myself immersed in the culture and engulfed by the traditions. I often dreamed of
finding my true self among the ruins and the shores. I wanted to be high upon the mountains
looking down onto the land hoping, praying, that I would find my calling in the world. I yearned
to become one not only with the people but also with myself. I envisaged the day where I would
become a part of the country physically, and emotionally. My dream finally came true on a fateful
day in June, when I stepped foot onto my true home, Tunisia.

Comparison of Legg-Calve-Perthes and Hip Dysplasia
Legg CalvГ© Perthes is a disorder that is sometimes mistaken for hip dysplasia. It was
discovered in 1910 by three (Drs. Legg, Calve and Perthes) who observed a flattening of the tops
of children s femurs. Examples of canines with the disorder were first documented in the 1930s.

presence of hip dysplasia or Legg CalvГ© Perthes disease. (2) What Is Legg Calve Perthes? hip

has no known cause and can occur in one hip joint or in both, without any precipitating trauma.
The disease affects small, young dogs and seems to be strongly determined by genetics,
occurring in equal numbers of female and male canines. (3: Symptoms and Signs section) In
dogs with this disease, the blood supply is obstructed before it reaches the upper part of the
femur the femoral head or ball part of the joint and the lack of blood flow leads to disintegration
and breakage of the bone and cartilage. The affected hip joint and surrounding area become
inflamed and irritated, which is very painful for dogs suffering from Legg Calve Perthes. (3) Is Hip

genetic origin. Hip dysplasia is a common disorder that causes afflicted dogs a

Walter Mitty Reflection
In the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, for me, it shows a very unique storyline that a film
may have. Personally, I think that it was interesting to watch this movie when one is about to feel
down of himself. By watching this movie, I get inspiration and motivation to appreciate my life
more of whatever things that I had done before or everything that I may do in the future.
Why do I live on this Earth? Based on the motto of LIFE Magazine, I think that in every step that
we take, there are pros and cons that we may face. To see the world, things dangerous to come to,
to see behind walls, draw close, to find each other, and to feel that is the purpose of life. What I

Swiss Army Man And The Myth Of Cain And Abel
Swiss Army Man the Myth of Cain and Abel
In the first book of the bible, the Book of Genesis, readers are introduced to the characters of
Cain and Abel. The myth of Cain and Abel relates to jealousy and rage, and how there are always
consequences for our actions. The morals that can be learned from Cain an Abel are still relevant
today, but in another format, such as in the poster for the 2016 film Swiss Army Man. The Swiss
Army Man poster and the myth of Cain and Abel have overlapping themes, such as death and
isolation. These themes are still prominent today, and the poster can serve as a modern day take on
the centuries old myth.
The myth of Cain and Abel originates from the bible, and is best known for being a story of firsts.
Cain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God favored Abel s sacrifice of milk and meat over Cain s offering of fruits. This angered Cain,
and presumably out of jealously, he murdered his brother, Abel. Just as Cain was the first physical
birth in the bible, Abel is the first recorded death (and murder) of the bible. God questions Cain on
the death of Abel, and Cain lies and tells God that he did not murder his brother.
Although is has been interrupted in multiple ways, it is ultimately believed that Cain s jealously
of God favoring his brother s sacrifice in relation to his own is what lead to his rage and
commitment of murder. A main moral in the myth of the story of Cain and Abel is that jealously
can lead to sin. Cain s jealously of Abel is what causes him to lash out, and later lie to God about
his actions to cover up his original sins.
Roland Barthes analysis of the Pazini ad in Rhetoric of the Image explains that the by putting
aside the linguistic message, we are left with the pure image (Barthes, 34). By ignoring the words
written on the image, the poster for the film Swiss Army Man (2016) depicts two characters on an
isolated green area, with water in the foreground and a faded skyline in the background. Although
they equally share the green area, one character is straight up, while the other is hunched over.
The one with straight body language is wearing brighter

Multi Step Synthesis Of Aspirin
This experiment explored the multi step synthesis of synthesis acetylsalicylic acid commonly
known as aspirin. A common procedure used in organic chemistry labs is multi step synthesis. this
procedure involves a cascade of reactions that ultimately lead to a desire product. The series of
reactions begins with commonly found or readily available reagents which are synthesized into
products which can be used for a secondary reaction, and so on and so forth until the final desired
product is synthesized (Ryerson Department of Chemistry, 2017).
In this experiment the synthesis of aspirin was used to find the importance of the efficiency of
multistep synthesis as well as a means to explore a number or purity tests. The purity tests used in
this experiment were a melting point range test, a thin layer chromatography test, a ferric chloride
test, and infrared spectroscopy.
After the completion of the experiment it was found that the percent yield was 24% which is
very low. This shows the importance of efficiency as the process of making aspirin, is a two step
synthesis (Atienza et al., 2010) and 74% of theoretical product was converted into waste or lost.
Also it was found that the end product was not pure aspirin as the sample of aspirin made failed
two purity test. This revealed that not merely one purity test is not sufficient to denote a substance
as pure.

The first step of the synthesis is to take pure methyl salicylate and hydrolyzed into salicylic acid,

The First Of Disney Pixar s Animated Films Without A Male...
BRAVE The first of Disney Pixar s animated films without a male centered cast featuring a
spunky, defiant, and disheveled Scottish princess (figure 5), Merida, was Brave. Opening with
the expected invocation, Once Upon a Time, Disney prepares the audience to expect the
stereotypical gender patterns of the past to include a land far away and a beautiful princess
(Preston 198). Immediately opening with what might appear to be an twist from Disney tale s
tradition, the audience discovers that Merida is an adolescent proclaiming with unwavering
certainty, The one thing we [all] search for is the right to change (Brave). This statement in this
stage of life indicates, perhaps, that one should not grow up as quickly as possible but rather one
should desire to enjoy the adventures of discovering one s individual path without mimicking the
romantic desires of adults (Ebrahim 46). Following the traditional fairy tale format, Merida sees
her archenemy in another woman, her beautiful, proper, royal mother. The antagonistic Queen
instructs her daughter with language that employs a two value system: Princesses don t snort like
boys, Only men carry weapons, and The amount of food on your plate is like your brothers, to
which Merida responds in song, I am alive when [doing these masculine things] (Brave,
Sunderland 87). The plot quick unfolds indicating that Merida, expected to follow tradition, is
bound by duty to enter into a marriage with a man who has won her hand by a

  • 3. Religion Affects Daily Life How does Religion Affect Daily Lives? The purpose of religion is to control yourself, not to criticise others. Dalai Lama. Religion is not something people blindly follow for the hope of reaching heaven. At one point or another in life, every person encounters the moment where they make the decision of being an active religious person, a religious person but don t attend church, or don t believe in a superior power. Whether a person chooses option one, two, or three, each choice brings consequences and a different life with that choice. People live a different kind of life, with different goals to reach, and what kind of life a person may want to live. Religion has a profound effect on people s daily lives, and the areas it affects are work life, family life, and the standards a person holds. Work Life It happens to everyone, people are at work (or school) and have a project due on Monday, but they see the clock ticking closer and closer to 5pm, and have that urge to slip out a few mins early so they can get ahead of schedule on ordering the wings and pizza and getting good movie tickets. The consequence of doing this is the person having to choose whether to finish the project on Saturday, Sunday, or if the person really wants to push it, Monday morning. So what option are you going to take? Work Smarter, Not Harder Full time committed religious people know the regular weekend schedule. (Ted Bundy). Serial killers are not always those people that look like monsters or behave in strangeous ways. Sometimes they are the successful people, the ones that have a family and a job. The term Serial Killerwas first coined by Robert Ressler, former director of the FBI s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. The triad includes fire setting, animal cruelty, and enuresis (bed wetting). A highly debate issue around serial killers is the reason behind their actions. Although many theories exist about the reason why serial killers act the way they do, the most common theory is that they are searching for some type of psychological satisfaction. A very common theory behind the reason of the actions of serial killers is the social control theory. This theory states that serial killers behave the way they do due to their inability to cope and adapt to society. Another well known theory is the neutralization theory. This theory states that murderers sometimes move from an invisible baseline and commit illegal actions while sometimes moving back and acting in a conventional way. The last theory is the labeling theory. This theory, created by Erving Goffman, states that people act the way they do due to the labels that society has created for them. Therefore, if a kid is labeled as a troublemaker at a very young age, it is more likely that he will continue with this behavior through adulthood. From Ted Bundyto BTK to the Zodiac Killer , serial killers have been around the United States for a long time, but none is better than Richard Chase, or better known as the Vampire of Sacramento , to investigate the reasons behind serial killers. Born on May 23, 1950, Chase was raised in a very strict house and was constantly abused by his parents. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This fact lets me know that there should have been various levels of management from the CEO on down to the first level employees. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would appear that HP made the right decision by bringing on Mark Hurd as its new Chief Executive Officer. He was brought in to correct a lot of the management deficiencies that Carly Fiorina left behind. Mark Hurd brought with him a focus on execution and he began working from the bottom up. I think that his method was needed at that time because it works well when dealing with a vertical management structure. All levels must feel important and involved in making the company successful. Although Mark Hurd maybe the face of the company, he is not the only person that keeps it going. As a good leader does, he kept what worked. In this case it was keeping the overall strategy that Carly Fiorina had in place but he provided specific visionary purposes. He had to restructure divisions and ultimately lay off over 14,000 employees to maintain the company s budget goals. In the long run, Mark Hurd made the difficult decisions that needed to be made to bring the company back on track. His actions earned the trust of his employees and therefore I would conclude that he boosted the overall morale of his employees. References 1. Boxer, Barbara. (2010). It is possible to place orders that will be executed once the market is open but it is not possible to buy any stocks or shares after hours. It is also important to know what a stock or share means. Essentially a stock is just a share in a company. A stock or share represents a claim on the company s assets and earnings. This means the better a company does then it is likely the price of a share or stock in that company is going to rise. This is due to the fact that the company is now worth more so in correlation so are the stocks or shares in said company. Another term that might be heard is equity. This is basically a synonym to the word share in this instance. It just represents a percentage or an amount of the company that a shareholder owns. A shareholder is someone who holds stock in a company. Not every company offers stocks or shares however. Some companies are considered private companies. This means that 100% of the company is owned by the company itself. Whereas public companies offer stocks and shares which basically means that the public owns a certain percentage of the company. • 19. Hamlet Bad Choices Choices are the decisions we make in life, some are good others are bad. Choosing a bad decision can affect families mentally, financially and emotionally. Bad choices always have consequences. A persons emotions can alter them into making terrible choices. Sometimes there is not a choice that is positive. Some people have choices that require sacrifice in order to survive. People will have regrets if they make the wrong decision. Choices are decided by the emotional state our brains are in. Our emotions are hardwired into our brains that affect our morals and decisions. Our emotions will sometimes make decisions for us. If our emotions are altered it will create impulsive or irrational decisions. For example in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is emotionally unstable and is angry with his mother because she does not value the death of his father. At the moment Polonius yells for help behind the drapes for him Hamlet stabs him thinking it was Claudius. Hamlet used his anger to make a decision, to either kill the person behind the drapes, assumably Claudius. Or making the right choice and and discovering who is behind the drapes; if it was Claudius then killing him. This demonstrates the role emotions play in for deciding our choices. But what happens if there is not a right choice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hypothetical research article compared memory test performance between two groups of participants: those who consumed a caffeinated beverage before the test and those who consumed a non caffeinated beverage: An independent samples t test was conducted to examine the difference between experimental conditions on test performance. The results indicated a significant difference between participants who consumed the caffeinated beverage and participants who did not, with participants in the caffeinated group (M = 7.64, SD = 2.41) performing worse than participants in the non caffeinated group (M = 9.81, SD = 3.16), t (97) = 2.14, p .05. It tells that the t statistic with 97 degrees of freedom was 2.14, and the corresponding p value was less than .05, specifically around 0.035. Therefore, it is appropriate to conclude the research study was statistically significant. But what does a statistically significant result really mean? Racial Discrimination Past, Present, And Future Racial Discrimination Past, Present, and Future Civil rights activist Al Sharpton said, We have come a long way from the days of slavery, but in 2014, discrimination and inequality still saturate our society in modern ways . This quote rings true where equality in the workplace is concerned. In Toni Cade Bambara s short story The Lesson , we see what social discrimination looks like through the eyes of children who are observing a wealthier part of town. In their eyes, they see and injustice and question why it is not being altered into something centered more on equality and equal opportunity. Toni Cade Bambara s story The Lesson is written to make a point about racial discrimination in the workplace and social inequality. In Bambara s short story, we are told the tale of several kids who are being taken for a day out by Miss Moore, a woman in their neighborhood. Along the way, she gives them lessons about how to handle money and to pay fairly. She also teaches them that just by saving, they can eventually get what they want. While she talks away, the kids observe their surroundings. They feel out of place in the wealthy neighborhood that Miss Moore has brought them to in the story. Something that helped show there was judgment and a feeling of uneasiness, was when one of the children stated, But what I got to be shamed about? Got as much right to go in as anybody (Bambara). However, chronic pain frequently coexists with other disorders such as anxiety, depression, or learning and memory deficits. Third, I will entertain the most persuasive possible counterargument to my view, which is that the United States media is not a good representation of the media in the United States. One reason for this would be the fact that some jurisdictions have severe staffing issues with their public defenders office, which are also extremely burdened with a heavy work assignment (Cabell, 2012). Knowledge And Epistemology And The Philosophy Of Knowledge According to the oxford dictionary belief can be defined as an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof . Beliefs are the best factor that influence in the decision making process. In other words, the beliefs students hold have a great effect on the perceptions and the judgments they make about the world. In educationand especially in social sciences beliefs are studied through epistemology. Epistemology is the philosophy of knowledge and how it is acquired(Bryman, 2016). Beliefs are mostly developed through social interaction and direct messages that we receive from our surrounding. This belief may develops in a long period of time or may be it takes only a minute if the message received or social interaction is so powerful(Tillema, 1998). Beliefs may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positivism is based on the principle that knowledge is acquired when tested through senses and is based on facts. As it is more scientific phenomena then it is based on the objectivity or fixity of knowledge(Bryman, 2016). Whereas, constructivism states that knowledge is constructed through social agents and it is in the constant state of revision. Hence it promotes variability of knowledge(Bryman, 2016). As Pakistani society is based on the concept of fundamentalism, which promotes the fixity of knowledge, hence the students who are produced through this education system of Pakistan have more or less positivist beliefs which concerned to the fixity of knowledge(Skov, 2007). So beliefs shape behavior which can be seen in the actions of the students. To understand the beliefs of Student teachers we just look at the ways they respond to the fixity of knowledge. So if I see the bigger picture, the understanding of the beliefs of teachers are essential to bring change in teacher education programs(Tillema, 1998). Fundamentalism and Education in ... Accordingly, every four years, new presidential candidates pop up in hopes of becoming the next President of the United States. 2012 is such a year, and one of the candidates was Rick Perry. It is interesting to note that when Rick Perry first entered the political scene, becoming elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1984, his party affiliation was as a Democrat. Many of Rick Perry s decisions assert his support of the 10th amendment, but perhaps the most monumental indicator may be his book, Fed Up! in which he accuses the federal system of being a tyrannical government that takes too much power from the states and stresses repetitively that the states matter more. In his preface, he emphasizes, I believe that states are critical components of our federal system of government, that the Founders recognized their importance, and that empowering the states is the best way to ensure our God given right to live according to the dictates of our consciences. To sum it up, Rick Perry s core belief is that giving state governments the freedom to regulate their economy, business, health care, and education on their own without government intrusion is the only way to go. When it comes to domestic issues, in particular the economy, Rick Perry may have had some ideas worth listening to. There were many reasons why American citizens would have been very pleased with his economic plan and its policies: lower taxes, more jobs, a balanced budget, and a more responsible, capable government. The morals that can be learned from Cain an Abel are still relevant today, but in another format, such as in the poster for the 2016 film Swiss Army Man. The Swiss Army Man poster and the myth of Cain and Abel have overlapping themes, such as death and isolation. God favored Abel s sacrifice of milk and meat over Cain s offering of fruits. This angered Cain, and presumably out of jealously, he murdered his brother, Abel. Just as Cain was the first physical birth in the bible, Abel is the first recorded death (and murder) of the bible. God questions Cain on the death of Abel, and Cain lies and tells God that he did not murder his brother. Although is has been interrupted in multiple ways, it is ultimately believed that Cain s jealously of God favoring his brother s sacrifice in relation to his own is what lead to his rage and commitment of murder. A main moral in the myth of the story of Cain and Abel is that jealously can lead to sin. Cain s jealously of Abel is what causes him to lash out, and later lie to God about his actions to cover up his original sins. • 51. Multi Step Synthesis Of Aspirin This experiment explored the multi step synthesis of synthesis acetylsalicylic acid commonly known as aspirin. A common procedure used in organic chemistry labs is multi step synthesis. this procedure involves a cascade of reactions that ultimately lead to a desire product. The series of reactions begins with commonly found or readily available reagents which are synthesized into products which can be used for a secondary reaction, and so on and so forth until the final desired product is synthesized (Ryerson Department of Chemistry, 2017). In this experiment the synthesis of aspirin was used to find the importance of the efficiency of multistep synthesis as well as a means to explore a number or purity tests. The purity tests used in this experiment were a melting point range test, a thin layer chromatography test, a ferric chloride test, and infrared spectroscopy. After the completion of the experiment it was found that the percent yield was 24% which is very low. This shows the importance of efficiency as the process of making aspirin, is a two step synthesis (Atienza et al., 2010) and 74% of theoretical product was converted into waste or lost. Also it was found that the end product was not pure aspirin as the sample of aspirin made failed two purity test. This revealed that not merely one purity test is not sufficient to denote a substance as pure. Immediately opening with what might appear to be an twist from Disney tale s tradition, the audience discovers that Merida is an adolescent proclaiming with unwavering certainty, The one thing we [all] search for is the right to change (Brave).
