De tudo um pouco!
O
povo batalhador. Os brasileiros merecem isso e muito mais.
Vamos juntos fazer deste evento uma grande festa.
Seja bem-vindo ao Brasil!

A little of everything!
B
razil is completely different from any other country
you have ever visited. You will find proof of this in
this guide, which we are pleased to offer you and
have certainly enjoyed creating. It gives a brief overview
of the distinguishing features of each of the host cities,
their historical and cultural importance, and especially,
their contributions to the creation of this immense
patchwork that is called Brazil.
KPMG in Brazil is honored to have contributed to the
development of this huge country. Our organization owes
a great debt to the Brazilian people, who show their
ability to face adversity every day and who, today more
than ever before, are beginning to reap the benefits of a
booming economy that is in the global spotlight.
The choice of Brazil to host the 2014 World Cup is surely a
reward for all the efforts of this hard-working people. The
Brazilians deserve this and much more. Let’s make this
event a time for celebration.
Welcome to Brazil!

Não ficaremos na promessa
A
incertezas do mercado latino-americano.

We will fulfil our potential
T
he choice of Brazil to host sports mega-events has been
interpreted as the fulfilment of a long-known truth: Brazil had
all the potential to become economic oasis in the desert of
uncertainties of the Latin American market. And, in the year following
the selection process, the world was hit by the financial crisis. As a
result, Brazil’s great potential became a reality.
With some of the most passionate soccer fans in the world, all closely
following the course of the event and its benefits for Brazil, this may
be the turning point needed to engage the population. Like the perfect
infrastructure, impeccable organization, beautiful arenas, excellent media
coverage, and quality games, the “involvement of the people” in the
event is also a very significant indicator. And this last factor may turn out
to be the most decisive one when it comes to the success of the event
in Brazil, bringing real benefits and leaving a positive legacy.
The 2014 World Cup in Brazil promises to be an unforgettable spectacle:
people from all over the world, gathering in the streets, at public events
called Fan Fests that allow the public to watch the games, with the
sensation of being right inside the stadiums. In short, the best of Brazil
will be in the spotlight: Brazilians, ready to host and participate in the
World Cup to the fullest.

O bom filho à casa torna
D
segunda vez. Muito mais do que apenas um
evento esportivo que mobiliza torcedores de todas as
nacionalidades, a Copa do Mundo é a porta de entrada
para expor o potencial do mercado brasileiro e, assim,
atrair investimentos estrangeiros e expandir a visibilidade
do País diante do mundo inteiro.
aconteceu a primeira Copa do Mundo no País, a
estimular o crescimento do País.
The prodigal son returns
A
fter more than half a century, the biggest soccer
spectacle in the world is returning to Brazil for the
second time. Much more than just a sports event
that rallies fans of all nationalities, the World Cup is the
gateway for showcasing the potential of the Brazilian
market, attracting foreign investments and increase
Brazil’s visibility worldwide.
Compared to the Brazil of 1950, when the first World Cup
was held here, today there is a much greater need for a
complete and quality infrastructure. The expenditures
for structuring the host cities are high, because unlike the
World Cup in Germany, for example, where the urban
infrastructure was already in place, Brazil has had to rebuild
stadiums, renovate airports, and organize the entire public
transportation, signage, and national safety systems.
Brazil, known for its natural beauty and melting pot of
many cultures, and for the infectious joy and animation of
its people, now has an opportunity to show its economic
strength and stimulate growth.

A
Mundo: 173.830 presentes no estádio do Maracanã.

T
he World Cup has become a stage for Brazil to
display and confirm its mastery of this sport to the
rest of the world. The competition, which began
in 1930, takes place every four years and the Brazilian
national team is the only team to have taken part in every
tournament. Below are some facts and figures about
Brazil in World Cup history:
• Brazil has been World Champion five times: in 1958,
1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002.
• The final between Brazil and Uruguay, in 1950, set an all-
time record for the number of spectators at a World Cup
match: 173,830 fans at the Maracanã Stadium.
• Cafu, a right winger, set a record by wearing the yellow
jersey for Brazil in 19 World Cup matches.
• Ronaldo is the greatest striker in the history of the
World Cup, with 15 goals.
• Pelé is the youngest player in history to become a world

o sertão aos pampas, da MPB
ao samba, da floresta amazônica
à beira-mar, o Brasil tem muito
que mostrar. Uma nação formada por
pessoas enraizadas pela mistura de índios,
europeus, africanos e asiáticos, que desde
sua descoberta vêm moldando a cultura
nacional.
partir do século XIX.
Com dez patrimônios culturais e sete
naturais tombados pela UNESCO, o
Brasil desfruta também de uma das sete
maravilhas do mundo moderno: o Cristo
Redentor.
futebol do mundo.
F
rom the backlands to the pampas,
from MPB to samba, from the
Amazon rainforest to the sea coast,
Brazil has so much to offer. It is a nation
made up Indians, Europeans, Africans,
and Asians, who have shaped the national
culture since Brazil’s discovery. The union
of these ethnic groups has created a
joyful, creative people, receptive to the
traditions from all over the world.
Regionalism is very strong in Brazil
and almost every State has its own
distinguishing features in the arts,
cuisine, and even the way of speaking.
Portuguese, spoken all over Brazil, varies
according to region, due to the synergy
between indigenous languages and those
of the countries of the colonial era, and of
the immigrants who began to arrive in the
19th century.
With ten cultural heritage sites and seven
natural heritage sites listed by UNESCO,
Brazil also boasts one of the seven
wonders of the modern world: Christ the
Redeemer statue. A country so rich in
natural and intellectual resources, with a
unique genius for cooking, popular music,
festivals, architecture, and literature, can
indeed be considered the best stage for
the biggest soccer event in the world.

Dia e
noite, a cidade tem opções
para todos. Além disso, é
uma das melhores cidades
do País para fazer contatos.
O mundo inteiro parece
estar aqui”.
Brazil’s megalopolis, best known for its
excesses of traffic, people, and pollution,
is also famous for another much more
positive excess: its diversity. São Paulo is
the Brazilian state capital with the greatest
number of ethnic groups.
Because of its diversity, São Paulo offers every
type of cultural attraction. From museums to
street markets, from state-of-the-art concert
halls to traditional venues where musicians
play the guitar sitting on a stool, the city has
options to suit every taste and budget.
“São Paulo is a vibrant city
that never stops. Day or
night, the city has options
for everyone. It is also one
of the best cities in Brazil
for networking. The whole
world seems to be here”.

http://spturis.com/sistemas/roteiros_a_pe/

o imaginário do brasileiro, moderna e futurista, é a

São Paulo is also is the stage for the
opening match of the World Cup, to take
place on June 12th in the city’s new
ultra-modern Arena de São Paulo stadium,
which can accommodate 65,807 fans for
the competition.
As it is the financial capital of the country,
KPMG chose São Paulo for its head
office. KPMG has three other offices in
the city where most of the organization’s
professionals are based.
Brasil. A KPMG tem outros três escritórios
na cidade, que concentram a maior parte
dos profissionais da Organização.
