Johnny s Poem I Look Into The Mirror
For the poem I look into the mirror, I have chosen to write it from Johnny s perspective, because I felt
like he had one of the most depth histories of any of the characters. He had suffered physical and
mental abuse from his parents and the socs.
The poem attempted to present Johnny s dreadful world and his perception of it, but also how he relies
on the gang for support and love. The images that are trying to be expressed are mainly the horrid
world he lives in, and this is emphasised by the use of similes and alliterations. I used words like tuff
which was a greaser slang term (to look cool or sharp) to accurately write like Johnny, who loved
things that were tuff.

ultimately wins anything from it.
His empty plates and his parents empty love is compared to get a direct comparison of how both his
parents are devoid of love and his hunger with his parents not giving him enough food. This simile is
really used to highlight the relationship between him and his parents. The alliteration of uncaring and
unsympathetic further enhances the relationship he uses by using two negative adjectives to describe

Although my four months interning at Blair House, the President s Guest House, was short, I learned a
great deal not only about collection management of a historical house, but also about the history of an
influential family and the history of diplomacy in the United States Government. Previous to this
internship, Blair House was not a place that I had any real knowledge about. My limited wisdom came
from a scene or two in a movie and television show. Learning so much about a wonderful collection
with so much historical value has been a once in a lifetime opportunity
