How Yom Kippur Is The Most Important Feast Of The Jewish...
Yom Kippur is the most important feast in the Jewish calendar. The Jewish people celebrates this feat
on every consecutive year. I chose to speak about the feast of Yom Kippur because it was inspired to
me by one of the initiators of the Neocatechumenal Way (Carmen Hernandez). Hernandez had a deep
love of for the Jewish Liturgies especially the feast of Yom Kippur. Every single year the
Neocatechumenal Way in different countries has a retreat and in the retreat there is a special day
reserved for conversion(confession). On this day of conversion all the members of the
Neocatechumenal communities have to fast the whole day and feed themselves only with the word of
God(Bible reading) and at the end of the day they confess all their sins in a penitential celebration.
Hernandez always explained the relationship between Yom Kippur and the confession(penitential
celebration) for us Catholic, that is why I have a special love for this feast because I heard of it every
single year in the annual Neocatechumenal Way retreat. Another fact that pushed me to write about
Yom Kippur is that we are in the year of mercy. So my paper will be based on the history of the Feast
of Yom Kippur and Its origins and how it was prepared and celebrated among the Jewish. I will
describe how the feast is celebrated and I will show its values in the Jewish faith. I will show as well
how Jesus Christ celebrated the feast of Yom Kippur. Finally I will illustrated how Jesus fulfilled the
feast of Yom

Point Of View In Lenny Abrahamson s Film Room
Some films make an impression on our lives that last forever, award winning film Room directed by
Lenny Abrahamson, is one of those films. In Room a young woman named Joy is locked and hidden
away in a shed with her five year old son Jack. Joy was locked in what her and her son call room for
seven years. Joy was seventeen when she tried helping a man with his injured dog, but the man tricked
her and kidnapped her. Room has a very well thought out plot, but an even more well thought out
composition. The use of point of view for Jack and the opening and closing scenes of Room stand out
the most. In the film a point of view shot is used quite a few times. A point of view shot is very
resounding and very remeable. A point of view shot can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This creates a sense of anxiety and anticipation. One cannot quite make out what is really going on
yet. A longer shot is then added with Joy putting Jack back to sleep. This shot adds the characters to
briefly and one still has the sense of anticipation. There is then a rotating establishing shot of the only
natural light source in the room, a sky light. Jack then starts narrating a story his mom Joy told him
about when he was born. While this narration is going on the film cuts to a shot of Joy and Jack in bed
Jack is just waking up. This releases some of the tension but there is still some residing anxiety and
one really can t make out what is really going on yet. Joy makes a plan to escape with most of the task
on Jack. After Jack completes his escape and leads the police back to his mom still locked in the room,
they go live together with Joys mom. Joy and Jack have a hard time adjusting to their new life. Joy
gets very depressed and has to seek treatment, while Jack stays with his grandma. When Joy and Jack
are reunited Jack wants to revisit the room that they were kept in. Joy agrees to go

BRANDTHINK MALAYSIA
INTRODUCTION
The Malaysian advertising landscape is gradually shifting its traditional media forms to the emergent
new media advertising but still at a nascent stage. The latter shows much room for growth, as the
industry fuels to content digitisation on web applications. This has shown when RM14.9 million worth
of advertisements was spent on the Internet medium in the first half of 2008. Propelling further to this,
the TV medium is creating new media technologies to include ads on applications of mobile video
streaming and broadcast mobile TV services. However, this might dampen if Malaysia s broadband

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Youth
Most adults would say that kids in today s day and age have it a thousand times easier than they did
when they were young. They might have had to walk 30 miles to school in the rain, however, they
were not faced with modern technology and the potentially harmful side effects it has on youth. The
harmful effects of technology on youth tends to be overlooked, especially by parents who do not pay
this topic any attention. In turn, this allows their children to develop mental and social health issues.
Adolescents today seem to have an issue when it comes to personal coping skills. Although not all
youth have this issue there is a small percentage of kids who do. When something in their life goes
astray, they don t make an attempt to deal with the issue at hand. Some will try to indulge themselves
in an activity to distracted or forget about the issues they may be facing because they do not possess
the interpersonal coping skills to address their problems. An excellent example of this is presented by
John Rosegrant in his article Clinicians Respond to Their Clients Technology he states ...a young man
s excessive engagement with World of Warcraft stemmed from his need to retreat from intense shame
that he had been unable to manage in the real world... (Rosegrant 1162) The young man suffered as a
victim of shaming has issues with shaming in his real life. Instead of doing the healthy thing and
reviewing his situation personally or trying to talk about it with his friends and family in an attempt to
resolve his problem, he decided to just go home and confide in play World of Warcraft. This is not
only unhealthy for his mental health, but it is also showing how youth try to engulf themselves in
technology to try and escape real world problems. This is not teaching proper coping skills and instead
just teaches them to push their problems aside and let them pile up. Adolescents need to be taught that
this is not the right way to address their issues, and instead, show them that they can go and talk to
their friends and family in times of need.
Another issuetopic that most people are familiar with is the toxic platform that social media
creates.issue that technology has provided and that is social media. Social media

Descriptive Essay About The Walk
The Walk 25, 24, 23, 22 as I m watching the numbers drop on the screen, the anticipation and nerves
build up on the elevator. I look around for other girls dressed in the mandatory emerald green shirts,
but only the red and yellow shirts obligatory for other choirs. My mind races as I envision about the
doubts people had when I told them I was going. My teachers asking me if it was worth it to travel all
the way to Philadelphia for some choir. Or my friends questioning me if this singing thing was
substantial enough to miss a week of school right before exams. Is this really worth the experience?
Scenarios start making themselves up in my mind. Are the girls going to be nice? Is everyone going to
know someone else? Will I sit next to someone who hates my personality? Ding! The elevator doors
open to a chaotic scene in the lobby. Red and yellow shirts run around like swarms of little ants.
Bumblebee parents, dressed in Kodály shirts like fans at a football game, only stare at their cell
phones looking at the rigorous schedule that s set for their kids in the next few days. Blue shirts from
the exclusive choir are like fireflies; They show up here and there, but there are never as many as
people believe there are. Then there are the ladybugs in the green shirts. They are sporadically placed
as if someone had tossed them up into the air and did not care where they would land. I squirmed past
the crowd of solemn business men who look uncomfortable with the disarray happening behind them
and came face to face with the ocean of colored shirts As I forced my way through the mass of colored
shirts towards the giant glass doors on the other side, I begin to think about how I got to this place. I
can remember being a little 5th grader ecstatic with the thought of getting my yellow shirt and being
in a national choir. The irony is that people say you feel more confident with yourself as you get older.
Back then, however, I wasn t nervous at all and felt completely confident with myself. Now, I am so
distressed I cannot even eat any food because of the butterflies in my stomach. Of course maybe that
is because this is was my 6th time auditioning and 3rd time getting accepted. There were 3 whole

North Carolina s Voting System
Living in a nation based on democracy, where a citizen s voice is the equivalent of casting a vote in
political elections, the majority of American citizens eligible to vote do not participate in elections.
The rationale behind voter non participation varies among individuals and demographic groups;
however, they all share a connection regarding their feelings towards their treatment by the country s
political system. Minority voters such as blacks and hispanics are a demographic group highly faced
with disenfranchisement in regards to political elections due to oppression. North Carolina s Voter ID
laws are a prime example of how minority voters are being shut out.
Among non voting Americans, many categorize into demographic groups that are being pushed out by
the political system in the form of misrepresentation and corruption among government officials.
According to voter trends in Who Votes? Congressional Elections and the American Electorate: 1978
2014 by Thom File, Americans with low incomes, lower levels of education, younger Americans, and
minorities are among some of the demographic groups experiencing the lowest voter rates. On the
other hand, the wealthy, higher educated, older, and non minority white ... Show more content on

Voter ID laws would further enforce the agenda of the republican party by lessening the strength of
democratic voters. Studies have already shown a significant link between support for voter ID and
racial discrimination, among both lawmakers and white voters in general. (Ingraham, 7 Aug. 2016)
Politicians catering to only select demographic groups creates and reinforces a hierarchy apparent to
the suppressed demographic groups, causing them to have the outlook that they are repudiated by the

Robots
Robots always had a special place in mankind s heart. There has always been an aura of mystery and
discovery surrounding them. What is a robot? Wikipedia defines it as an automatically guided
machine which is able to do tasks on its own. That is a good definition of a robot, but there are few
exceptions too. The term robot was first created by Josef Capek. It was used by his brother Karel
Capek in his play Rossum s Universal Robots. The word literally means work in Czech. The science
fiction author Isaac Asimov was the first person to use the word robotics in his short story Liar! One
of the first robots was thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci. It was only a sketch of a mechanical knight,
who was able to sit up, wave his arms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
R2 D2 and C 3PO each had interesting personalities and major parts in the storyline. Movies have also
shown robots in a different way. People thought of the idea that robots will become smarter than
humans. This, they think, will cause the robots to destroy the human race. Another hypothetical end
would be gray goo, which is when a swarm of nanobots will self replicate until they consume the
entire Earth or universe. Even if those events are unlikely to occur, robots can be harmful if they are
not working properly, or they aren t being used properly. There has been two deaths caused by robots.
One was struck by a robot arm. The other was pushed into a grinding machine. Robotics is still
developing, and they still have many flaws in them, many of which are hard to solve. For instance,
robots have no intelligence. This makes it hard for them to correct their mistakes. The robot might be
doing a task wrong, but it won t notice. This makes it important that there is constant human
supervision. Robots also tend to be very pricey. This is because of the many parts in a robot which are
needed to accomplish a task. The future of robotics is coming to us very quickly. Soon, other different
robots will emerge. Nanotechnology creates robots which cannot be seen with the human eye. These
robots can be used in medicine, or they can be used for surgery. Another idea is for robots to change
their form based on the task which they are doing. There is also the idea of robots

Thomas Hobbes And The Enlightenment
Can you imagine America with a monarchy? Can you imagine America with a king? All the power
possessed by a single individual. This means that there will be no voting on who should be a leader,
but the power goes from one to the other by inheritance. There will be a king fulfilling his role as a
supreme leader by surrounding himself with people who will help him govern. This is hard to
imagine, but Enlightenment thinkers expressed their opinions on different questions related to this.
The Enlightenment was an era from 1600 to 1800. It was a break from strictness of the Catholic
Church and a period of intelligence and business growth in Europe. It grew out of the Renaissance,
especially humanists. During this era, there were philosophers who were known as Enlightenment
thinkers. They thought about two questions. First, are people naturally good or evil? Second, what
type of government is best? Thomas Hobbes, an Englishman born in 1588, is one of the
Enlightenment thinkers. Hobbes wrote The Leviathan, published in 1651, observing the violence and
behavior of people near the end of the English Civil War. He believed that monarchy is the best
government. John Locke, another Enlightenment thinker, is an Englishman born in 1632. Locke wrote
Two Treatises of Government, published in 11689,expressing his opinions on the state of nature and
types of government. He, on the other hand, believed that democracy is the best government. While

Somali The Somali Banking System
The Somali Banking System
Anna Koontz
Dr. Darcy Hartman
AEDE 4536
21 November 2015
A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been
systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have
profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant
economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general
scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially
inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the
1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only
conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a
sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from
family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is
made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States,
where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3.
Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many
forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by

How Did Robespierre Contribute To The French Revolution
Maximilien de Robespierre was a French revolutionary with ties to both the French Revolution as well
as the Reign of Terror. Robespierre studied law and went on to be an advocate for the lower class of
France. Robespierre assisted in writing the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. He was a
radical Jacobin leader and called for political change in the French monarchy. Robespierre gained a lot
of power during the Reign of Terror. He began to use it as a way to eliminate political enemies. He
soon became intoxicated with power and the National Convention began to question his motives. They
went on to arrest and guillotine Robespierre.

The revolutionary government established the Reign of Terror in September of 1793, with the spread
of civil war and opposing armies surrounding France. The Reign of Terror allowed the government to
take harsh measures against those suspected to be conspiring against the revolution (Reign of Terror).
In a little under a year, 300,000 suspected revolutionary adversaries are put under arrest, over 17,000
more are sent to be guillotined. Robespierre used the Reign of Terror as a means to dispose of his
political enemies through executions. Through the Reign of Terror, Robespierre gained the power of
deciding life over death for others. He ordered more executions and purges, seemingly intoxicated
with his new power (Maximilien de Robespierre).
The Law of 22 Prairial was enacted on June 10, 1794. This law made it easier for the government to
prosecute to indict revolutionaries and harder for someone to defend himself in court. This came to be
known as loi de la Grande Terreur or law of the Great Terror. Because of this, approximately 10,000
people died without a trial or in prison. The Law of 22 Prairial was the cause of an estimated 1,400
people. It in turn helped to bring about Robespierre s eventual downfall (Reign of

Persuasive Speech About Animal Cruelty
You want to know something horrify and heartbreaking? People say they love animals but that s false.
Something that animal lovers don t know is that 56 billion farmed animals are killed every year by
humans and 200 million animals are reported killed by hunters in the United States every year.
Treating animals for their fur and bones is not good for them and us. There meat can cause cancer,
using their belongings is depressing and there should be more compassionate for them. I see animals
as humans because they can feel happiness, sadness, anger and lastly pain. Animals can t fight for

kids out there for their future. It may cause heart diseases and at a point when we have to take so many
pills to get better. On Netflix there s a documentary that came out this year called What the Health .
He also talks about meat causes cancer. He interviewed three people who were sick with cancer and
they all went to many doctors to get better but they just receive pills to take and hope for their best.
The guy in the video tells them to stop taking the pills, stop eating process meat, try to exercise and he
ll come back in two weeks to see how they are. When that day came those three people he interviewed
looked so much healthier and had so much energy. Not eating meat may cause a different in us and a

My Capstone Experience At Fort Gibson Essay
During my Capstone experience I was able to be involved in a training gym in Fort Gibson,
Oklahoma. In this gym there are ages four to eighteen training. The athletes were from: Fort Gibson,
Woodall, Tahlequah, Briggs, Hilldale, Oktaha, Vian, and Muskogee. The sports available were:
basketball, football, baseball, wrestling, and healthy day to day living. There were multiple trainers
and they used multiple different facilities. Since Fort Gibson is somewhat small and limited on their
workout resources they used: local churches, a gym located downtown, outdoor fields at the Fort, the
high school track, and sometimes even do home calls. In basketball the ages of the day were eleven to
fourteen. The athletes started with a dynamic warm up and athletic work for ten to fifteen minutes.
This helps to prevent injury, provides performance improvement and overall athletic ability. During
this particular trainers warm up they liked involving a basketball as much as possible. The next thing
was teaching skills and using fun drills to improve the athlete s skills. This part lasted about thirty to
forty five minutes. The number one reason kids quit sports is because it just isn t fun anymore. What
we like to focus on here is how to teach the skills and make it an all around fun experience. We aren t

The Political Factions, By Thomas Paine And James Chalmers
¬Though not entirely representative of their political factions, Thomas Paine and James Chalmers are
major literary figures in describing loyalist and anti loyalist sentiments in pre revolutionary America.
While Thomas Paine argued for America s independence, James Chalmers counters the idea by
proposing some of the possible negative consequences as well as down playing the perceived
necessity of declaring independence. The major points of contention in both of their arguments deal
heavily with the outcome of the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) including the government
actions that were imposed upon the American colonies as a result. By examining the way in which
they interpreted these events, one can gain insight into their contrasting political and philosophical
ideologies of pre revolutionary America. Thomas Paine was a British born citizen of Pennsylvania
whose formal education ended at only thirteen years old, but he chose to educate himself in his free
time. He met Benjamin Franklin who then persuaded him to move to the colonies. He introduced his
views of an independent Continent very shortly before the American Revolution, which heavily
influenced many middle of the road colonists. Common Sense is arguably his most influential work,
and it was decidedly written in such a manner that the common folk could comprehend. In his famous
pamphlet, he writes about government as a necessary evil, state of nature, the problems of monarchial
systems of government, the

those who have a real passion for the sport. To the athletes that participate in cheerleading, it is

these athletes lives and is what many consider to be their

Essay About A Short Story
Yeah? asked Peggy with a little upward reflection. Yep, yeahs, and ah huhs were all replied back to
her, but when Peggy took notice of what Zack sounded like, her gray eyes shifted firmly to him and
then bulged from out her head. Jesus, what the hell happened to you? Bit my tongue, Zack said, but it
came out as, Yet may ungue. He slipped on a patch of ice and mud near the volunteer facilities, Sean
said thinking fast. Lost his footing and went down hard slamming his chin onto the ground. Everyone
concurred. Well, it looks like it s swollen pretty good, maybe you should go to the hospital? I ll E

I m on it, Sean said as he shot up from his seat and took off heading back out the door s of the
doughnut shop. Phillip, how did you get that? asked Leland. May I see it? Phillip handed it over. I
took it off this guy, Lorenzo Hubbard, after I smacked him in the face with a metal locker door in the
place s changing room. I didn t want to do it... I had no choice, though. He knew who I was... He knew
I was a... Slug? Yeah, that s what he called us. My kind. Alright, give it here, Sean requested as he had
already come back inside the store and began setting up a laptop computer on the adjacent table.
Leland complied. Do you think we ll be able to get anything off of it? asked Boyd as he directed his
attention towards anyone who would answer. I would assume they would have terminated this ID s
access by now. No doubt, they did, Leland responded. But, if Lorenzo Hubbard here was too
embarrassed about having his ass kicked by a slug and didn t want anyone finding out about it... Or,
even doesn t realize yet that Phillip took his ID access card from him... then just maybe, he might have
held off on contacting central command. Where we at, Sean? asked Boyd. Working on it. Okay, guys,
here are your doughnuts, Peggy said as nobody had noticed her return with them. She then set a plate

Personal Culture And My Family Culture Essay
While looking upon my personal culture and my family s culture in an attempt to find appropriate
dishes for this assignment, it became apparent to me that I have no definite culture. Whereas I have
lived in Canada my whole life, my family s background has engaged me in varying cultures, though I
have never felt truly attuned to one culture. On the other hand, my father is a first generation
Canadian, his parents both from Scotland. Though aware of my Scottish origins and my grandparents
migration to Canada, Scottish culture has never been explicitly celebrated amongst those in my family.
Furthermore, my family previously migrated from Ireland during the Irish famine, resulting in Irish
culture to also represented in my family s culture. Variously, my mother s side of the family has lived
in Canada for many generations, but I do not consider myself as being authentically Canadian.
Accordingly, throughout my childhood, I was never encouraged to celebrate an explicit culture.
Furthermore, religion was never prominent in my life either, as my parents decided against baptizing
any of my siblings and me, as per the family tradition, because they wished for us to have religious
freedom. However, because of the rest of my family s religion, as well as my background, my family
has always celebrated Christian holidays, though I have never been to church for a reason other than a
wedding. I find that without any cultural ties from my family s history and practices, that the culture I

Indigenous People In American Culture
The word indigenous derives from a latin root which is connected with birth, reproduction, and death.
It has the same meaning as the word native but, in many parts of the world because it carries too many
negative associations. Referring to indigenous peoples in the twenty first century is not the same as
describing them a hundred years ago, and it will be different a hundred years into the future: neither
they nor their situation will be the same. (locations 262 264) No peoples today live the life that our

Tribes are classified into different food getting techniques. There are hunter gatherers men are the
hunters and woman do the gathering. They live by hunting, fishing and harvesting wild food. Shifting
Cultivators are peoples who move the location of their vegetable plots every few years and are also
hunters. Pastoralists who raise sheep and cattle and lastly agriculturalists who are simply farmers.
Many tribes in the Amazon fish by crushing plant poisons which stuns the fish. They then pick the fish
out of the water. Many other peoples used poison as a method of hunting including the Bushman in the
Kalahari. Hunting involves cleverness and modification however, there are rules. People have set
boundaries for their hunting grounds. If they are on another s land they need to seek permission to
hunt. A hunter has the skills of a craftsman to create his weapons, the attributes of an athlete to
contend against its prey and the ability to strategize. The gathering aspect though it doesn t give the
rush hunting does it isn t any less work. The gathering is more of a community involved activity and
requires a larger group of people. The biggest portion of a hunter gatherers diet comes from gathering
not hunting. There is evidence that many hunter gatherer tribes drastically changed the land in order to
suit their needs. For example, an emerging theory is that Australian

How Trade Agreements And Sugar Exports Affect The U.s....
1.1 Problem Statement
The goal of this paper is to describe and analyze how trade agreements and sugar imports affect the
U.S. sugar market and program.
1.2 Background With the U.S. generating domestic sugar from both the sugarcane and sugar beet
industries, the U.S. is among the world s largest sugar producers and generated over $4 billion in cash
receipts in 2015 2016 (U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Economic Research Service (ERS),
2017A). Sugar beets account for 55 percent of production, sugarcane produces 45 percent of the total
domestic sugar production (USDA ERS, 2017A). A rotational crop, sugar beets can withstand a
variety of climates. Poised to continue as the largest domestic sugar source, beet sugar harvesting and

Section 3 describes the method and data used to determine impact of trade agreement on the U.S.
sugar program. Lastly, section 4 will discuss the conclusions and offers recommendations for future
study.
2. Conceptual Framework As aforementioned, the U.S. sugar production is large, and in spite this,
sugar imported under trade agreements affect the domestic market. Consequently, to understand the
U.S. sugar market, a dive into U.S. production supply and trade agreement obligations is required to
understand how these elements support the U.S. sugar program. Corresponding to domestic demand,
the U.S. sugar market constraints the amount of domestic cane sugar and beet sugar produced to not
exceed 85% of the estimated U.S. demand (McMinimy, 2016). In addition to four smaller trade
agreements with nine countries, a larger part of the unfilled U.S. consumption demand comes from
importation under WTO and NAFTA allocations (McMinimy, 2016; USDA FAS, 2017). Based on
patterns from the unrestricted free trade period of 1975 1981, the U.S. Trade Representative allocates
a WTO tariff rate quota (TRQ) allocation with 40 countries and the USDA executes the sugar program
each FY, beginning October 1 each year (USDA ERS, 2017B). The TRQ system applies to imports of
raw cane sugar, refined sugar, sugar syrups, specialty sugars and

Stephen Davies
In this book, philosopher Stephen Davies attempts to explain why music has meaning. When we talk
about music we do not say that we only enjoy it. We also talk of music s ability to understood or
misunderstood. Sometimes music appears to speak towards deep feelings and experiences.
Consequently, some music is viewed as having a content that makes these expressions available.
Therefore, the driving question of this book is: what does music mean? There is disclaimer to be
warned of before attempting to read this book. If you are looking for a book that is easy to read, then
this is probably not it. Davies is a trained philosopher, and a stalwart analytic one at that. This book
attempts to explain every microscopic detail about expression

Roxane Gay Bad Feminist Summary
Roxane Gay s collection of essays, Bad Feminist, falls under third wave feminism. Third wave
feminists focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and social class. Gay talks about all of
these issues in her book, calling upon her own experiences as a Haitian American to explore the
intersectionality between growing up a woman and growing up biracially in America. More than
anything else in her book, Gay focuses on her imperfections as a human being that cause her to
interpret feminism differently from anyone else. We don t all have to believe in the same feminism,
she writes. Feminism can be pluralistic so long as we respect the different feminisms we carry with us,
so long as we give enough of a damn to try to minimize the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gay writes, A lot of ink is given over to mythologizing female friendships as curious, fragile
relationships that are always intensely fraught. Stop reading and writing what encourages this
mythology. Likewise, Gay challenges the notion that only books by women are given the title of
women s fiction, and that topics of marriage and children, and parenthood are primarily marketed
towards women when they concern both men and women. She argues against the stereotype of angry
feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape humor, they are sensitive
and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall term for women who does not
tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight for their rights, when men have not,
but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that
women might be more ambitious and focused because we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to
vote, to work outside the home, to work in environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the
universities of our choice, and we ve had to prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of
consideration. She also finds great offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon
the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive. This myth is like
heels and purses pretty, but designed to SLOW women down. Like many third wave feminists, Gay
fights to draw attention to these issues in order to change

An Intimate Experience With An Audience Through A Film
I wanted to create an intimate experience with an audience through a film. I needed to get started. I
had researched on forums, websites even Youtube on advice on how where I could start. Most places
said, to begin with, something you already owned. In my case, It was the iPhone 5s. I had used my
phone for a year to take photos and videos when I had recently decided to upgrade to the Canon T6i.
After using the camera for a couple of months now, I wanted to see the similarities and differences in
functionality that the iPhone 5s had compared to the Canon T6i.
A similarity that is consistent with the iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i is the user interface. The user will
interact with the devices by using its buttons and touch screens. The iPhone 5s and Canon T6i have
many similar buttons such as the on/off, home screen and volume buttons. The on/off button allows
the user to get their device started to take pictures. The home screen button redirects the user of an
iPhone to a screen with apps, while a user of the Canon T6i to a screen with many camera settings.
The iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i have touch screens. The touch screen adds comfort to the user. It is
also a familiar feeling to most technology users since the touch screen is very common in 2016.
A second similarity between the two devices is their camera functions. The basic camera functions that
are available to the Canon T6i and iPhone 5s includes the zoom in/out, flash, single/continuous shots
and self timer. This

Overview of Mood Disorders Essay
The Mood Disorders category of the DSM IV TR, is one of the most dense categories and probably
one of the most commonly talked about categories. People often make comments about being
depressed or having bipolar disorder; however, they might not truly meet the diagnostic criteria to
receive the diagnosis. There are several diagnoses in the Mood Disorders category which have been
organized into the following subsections: Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymic Disorder, Depressive
Disorder Not Otherwise Specified, Bipolar I Disorder, Bipolar II Disorder, Cylcothymic Disorder,
Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified, Mood Disorder Due to a General Medical Condition,
Substance Induced Mood Disorder and Mood Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. ... Show more

For example, bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder are differentiated by the presence of a mixed or
manic episode. If a person diagnosed with bipolar II disorder develops a mixed or manic episode, then
his diagnosis should be changed to bipolar I Disorder. Another important differential diagnosis is
between a major depressive episode, a manic episode and a mixed episode. If a person experiences the
criteria to meet a major depressive episode and the criteria to meet a manic episode nearly every day
during a minimum of a one week period, then he will receive the mixed episode diagnosis.
Furthermore, the difference between a manic episode and a hypomanic episode is that the person in a
hypomanic episode is not experiencing a disturbance severe enough to warrant hospitalization or a
marked impairment in his occupational functioning or social life.
It is also imperative to note the difference between a major depressive episode and major depressive
disorder. Major depressive disorder is diagnosed when a patient has a history of one or more major
depressive episodes without a history of mixed, manic or hypomanic episodes. Major depressive
disorder is distinguished from dysthymic disorder because a patient with dysthymic disorder has less
severe, chronic depressive symptoms which have been present more days than they have been absent
for a period of two years (one year for children and adolescence). Patients who chronically have
hypomanic symptoms and depressive

Character Journal

Character Journal I was waiting. Being taken to a place I didn t know took a while. We stopped often
to check papers. Everywhere they took me they stopped to check papers which took hours. Then the
patriots take me as a prisoner to the local authorities. I knew it wasn t going to be good. The
authorities believed I was an emigrant and had to be sent to Paris. I was shocked. I knew they were
doing this on purpose. I tried explaining that they re wrong over and over but they only used violence.
They slapped me around until I couldn t talk anymore. They started to understand my position and
who i was. They put me in the carriage again. The ride would be long and slow. The patriots forced me
to pay for being taken to the capital because they were protecting me. I later on heard a man s scream.
He was explaining that the property of emigrants are taken by the Republic and not returned. I knew
this wasn t going to be an easy day. As I passed through the area s, many stared at me with evil faces.
Many stated that they wanted to kill me. I knew I didn t do anything wrong but I was treated as a
prisoner. They explained that I now have no rights because I m an emigrant. I was wondering how I
went from a traveler to an immigrant to a prisoner. Was this the end of my life? Would I really be
rotting in this prison? I was alone in the cell. I started panicking. I

  • 2. How Yom Kippur Is The Most Important Feast Of The Jewish... Yom Kippur is the most important feast in the Jewish calendar. The Jewish people celebrates this feat on every consecutive year. I chose to speak about the feast of Yom Kippur because it was inspired to me by one of the initiators of the Neocatechumenal Way (Carmen Hernandez). Hernandez had a deep love of for the Jewish Liturgies especially the feast of Yom Kippur. Every single year the Neocatechumenal Way in different countries has a retreat and in the retreat there is a special day reserved for conversion(confession). On this day of conversion all the members of the Neocatechumenal communities have to fast the whole day and feed themselves only with the word of God(Bible reading) and at the end of the day they confess all their sins in a penitential celebration. Hernandez always explained the relationship between Yom Kippur and the confession(penitential celebration) for us Catholic, that is why I have a special love for this feast because I heard of it every single year in the annual Neocatechumenal Way retreat. Another fact that pushed me to write about Yom Kippur is that we are in the year of mercy. So my paper will be based on the history of the Feast of Yom Kippur and Its origins and how it was prepared and celebrated among the Jewish. I will describe how the feast is celebrated and I will show its values in the Jewish faith. I will show as well how Jesus Christ celebrated the feast of Yom Kippur. Finally I will illustrated how Jesus fulfilled the feast of Yom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Point Of View In Lenny Abrahamson s Film Room Some films make an impression on our lives that last forever, award winning film Room directed by Lenny Abrahamson, is one of those films. In Room a young woman named Joy is locked and hidden away in a shed with her five year old son Jack. Joy was locked in what her and her son call room for seven years. Joy was seventeen when she tried helping a man with his injured dog, but the man tricked her and kidnapped her. Room has a very well thought out plot, but an even more well thought out composition. The use of point of view for Jack and the opening and closing scenes of Room stand out the most. In the film a point of view shot is used quite a few times. A point of view shot is very resounding and very remeable. A point of view shot can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This creates a sense of anxiety and anticipation. One cannot quite make out what is really going on yet. A longer shot is then added with Joy putting Jack back to sleep. This shot adds the characters to briefly and one still has the sense of anticipation. There is then a rotating establishing shot of the only natural light source in the room, a sky light. Jack then starts narrating a story his mom Joy told him about when he was born. While this narration is going on the film cuts to a shot of Joy and Jack in bed Jack is just waking up. This releases some of the tension but there is still some residing anxiety and one really can t make out what is really going on yet. Joy makes a plan to escape with most of the task on Jack. After Jack completes his escape and leads the police back to his mom still locked in the room, they go live together with Joys mom. Joy and Jack have a hard time adjusting to their new life. Joy gets very depressed and has to seek treatment, while Jack stays with his grandma. When Joy and Jack are reunited Jack wants to revisit the room that they were kept in. Joy agrees to go ... • 4. Brandthink BRANDTHINK MALAYSIA INTRODUCTION The Malaysian advertising landscape is gradually shifting its traditional media forms to the emergent new media advertising but still at a nascent stage. The latter shows much room for growth, as the industry fuels to content digitisation on web applications. This has shown when RM14.9 million worth of advertisements was spent on the Internet medium in the first half of 2008. Propelling further to this, the TV medium is creating new media technologies to include ads on applications of mobile video streaming and broadcast mobile TV services. However, this might dampen if Malaysia s broadband penetration and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) literacy does not improve. With Government s ... • 5. The Negative Effects Of Technology On Youth Most adults would say that kids in today s day and age have it a thousand times easier than they did when they were young. They might have had to walk 30 miles to school in the rain, however, they were not faced with modern technology and the potentially harmful side effects it has on youth. The harmful effects of technology on youth tends to be overlooked, especially by parents who do not pay this topic any attention. In turn, this allows their children to develop mental and social health issues. Adolescents today seem to have an issue when it comes to personal coping skills. Although not all youth have this issue there is a small percentage of kids who do. When something in their life goes astray, they don t make an attempt to deal with the issue at hand. Some will try to indulge themselves in an activity to distracted or forget about the issues they may be facing because they do not possess the interpersonal coping skills to address their problems. An excellent example of this is presented by John Rosegrant in his article Clinicians Respond to Their Clients Technology he states ...a young man s excessive engagement with World of Warcraft stemmed from his need to retreat from intense shame that he had been unable to manage in the real world... (Rosegrant 1162) The young man suffered as a victim of shaming has issues with shaming in his real life. Instead of doing the healthy thing and reviewing his situation personally or trying to talk about it with his friends and family in an attempt to resolve his problem, he decided to just go home and confide in play World of Warcraft. This is not only unhealthy for his mental health, but it is also showing how youth try to engulf themselves in technology to try and escape real world problems. This is not teaching proper coping skills and instead just teaches them to push their problems aside and let them pile up. Adolescents need to be taught that this is not the right way to address their issues, and instead, show them that they can go and talk to their friends and family in times of need. Another issuetopic that most people are familiar with is the toxic platform that social media creates.issue that technology has provided and that is social media. Social media ... • 6. Descriptive Essay About The Walk The Walk 25, 24, 23, 22 as I m watching the numbers drop on the screen, the anticipation and nerves build up on the elevator. I look around for other girls dressed in the mandatory emerald green shirts, but only the red and yellow shirts obligatory for other choirs. My mind races as I envision about the doubts people had when I told them I was going. My teachers asking me if it was worth it to travel all the way to Philadelphia for some choir. Or my friends questioning me if this singing thing was substantial enough to miss a week of school right before exams. Is this really worth the experience? Scenarios start making themselves up in my mind. Are the girls going to be nice? Is everyone going to know someone else? Will I sit next to someone who hates my personality? Ding! The elevator doors open to a chaotic scene in the lobby. Red and yellow shirts run around like swarms of little ants. Bumblebee parents, dressed in Kodály shirts like fans at a football game, only stare at their cell phones looking at the rigorous schedule that s set for their kids in the next few days. Blue shirts from the exclusive choir are like fireflies; They show up here and there, but there are never as many as people believe there are. Then there are the ladybugs in the green shirts. They are sporadically placed as if someone had tossed them up into the air and did not care where they would land. I squirmed past the crowd of solemn business men who look uncomfortable with the disarray happening behind them and came face to face with the ocean of colored shirts As I forced my way through the mass of colored shirts towards the giant glass doors on the other side, I begin to think about how I got to this place. I can remember being a little 5th grader ecstatic with the thought of getting my yellow shirt and being in a national choir. The irony is that people say you feel more confident with yourself as you get older. Back then, however, I wasn t nervous at all and felt completely confident with myself. Now, I am so distressed I cannot even eat any food because of the butterflies in my stomach. Of course maybe that is because this is was my 6th time auditioning and 3rd time getting accepted. There were 3 whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. North Carolina s Voting System Living in a nation based on democracy, where a citizen s voice is the equivalent of casting a vote in political elections, the majority of American citizens eligible to vote do not participate in elections. The rationale behind voter non participation varies among individuals and demographic groups; however, they all share a connection regarding their feelings towards their treatment by the country s political system. Minority voters such as blacks and hispanics are a demographic group highly faced with disenfranchisement in regards to political elections due to oppression. North Carolina s Voter ID laws are a prime example of how minority voters are being shut out. Among non voting Americans, many categorize into demographic groups that are being pushed out by the political system in the form of misrepresentation and corruption among government officials. According to voter trends in Who Votes? Congressional Elections and the American Electorate: 1978 2014 by Thom File, Americans with low incomes, lower levels of education, younger Americans, and minorities are among some of the demographic groups experiencing the lowest voter rates. • 8. Robots Robots always had a special place in mankind s heart. There has always been an aura of mystery and discovery surrounding them. What is a robot? Wikipedia defines it as an automatically guided machine which is able to do tasks on its own. That is a good definition of a robot, but there are few exceptions too. The term robot was first created by Josef Capek. It was used by his brother Karel Capek in his play Rossum s Universal Robots. The word literally means work in Czech. The science fiction author Isaac Asimov was the first person to use the word robotics in his short story Liar! One of the first robots was thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci. R2 D2 and C 3PO each had interesting personalities and major parts in the storyline. Movies have also shown robots in a different way. People thought of the idea that robots will become smarter than humans. This, they think, will cause the robots to destroy the human race. Another hypothetical end would be gray goo, which is when a swarm of nanobots will self replicate until they consume the entire Earth or universe. Even if those events are unlikely to occur, robots can be harmful if they are not working properly, or they aren t being used properly. There has been two deaths caused by robots. One was struck by a robot arm. The other was pushed into a grinding machine. Robotics is still developing, and they still have many flaws in them, many of which are hard to solve. For instance, robots have no intelligence. This makes it hard for them to correct their mistakes. The robot might be doing a task wrong, but it won t notice. This makes it important that there is constant human supervision. Robots also tend to be very pricey. This is because of the many parts in a robot which are needed to accomplish a task. The future of robotics is coming to us very quickly. Soon, other different robots will emerge. Nanotechnology creates robots which cannot be seen with the human eye. These robots can be used in medicine, or they can be used for surgery. Another idea is for robots to change their form based on the task which they are doing. There is also the idea of robots ... • 10. Thomas Hobbes And The Enlightenment Can you imagine America with a monarchy? Can you imagine America with a king? All the power possessed by a single individual. This means that there will be no voting on who should be a leader, but the power goes from one to the other by inheritance. There will be a king fulfilling his role as a supreme leader by surrounding himself with people who will help him govern. This is hard to imagine, but Enlightenment thinkers expressed their opinions on different questions related to this. The Enlightenment was an era from 1600 to 1800. It was a break from strictness of the Catholic Church and a period of intelligence and business growth in Europe. It grew out of the Renaissance, especially humanists. During this era, there were philosophers who were known as Enlightenment thinkers. They thought about two questions. First, are people naturally good or evil? Second, what type of government is best? Thomas Hobbes, an Englishman born in 1588, is one of the Enlightenment thinkers. Hobbes wrote The Leviathan, published in 1651, observing the violence and behavior of people near the end of the English Civil War. He believed that monarchy is the best government. John Locke, another Enlightenment thinker, is an Englishman born in 1632. Locke wrote Two Treatises of Government, published in 11689,expressing his opinions on the state of nature and types of government. He, on the other hand, believed that democracy is the best government. While Thomas Hobbes believed that people are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Somali The Somali Banking System The Somali Banking System Anna Koontz Dr. Darcy Hartman AEDE 4536 21 November 2015 A: Introduction and Problem Description Somalia is a war torn nation in East Africa that has been systematically affected by political, economic, and social issues for decades. These issues have profoundly impacted the way that the nation functions as a whole. One of the most significant economic issues that plagues Somalia today is its lack of an effective central bank, and the general scarcity of banks throughout the country. The Central Bank of Somalia does exist, but it is essentially inoperative, as it has no substantial authority and has not officially printed a single bank note since the 1990s1. Currently, the Central Bank of Somalia does not dictate monetary policy whatsoever, and only conducts surveys as it attempts to reconstruct itself 2. Because of this, counterfeit currency makes up a sizable proportion of the money in circulation, and most Somalis rely on remittances transferred from family members abroad to survive. In fact, it is estimated that around 45% of Somalia s economy is made up of these remittances that come from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States, where large populations of Somali refugees and immigrants currently live3. Not surprisingly, the lack of a banking system has led to currency substitution that appears in many forms. Some use foreign currency or the plentiful counterfeit bills, while others use money issued by regional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. How Did Robespierre Contribute To The French Revolution Maximilien de Robespierre was a French revolutionary with ties to both the French Revolution as well as the Reign of Terror. Robespierre studied law and went on to be an advocate for the lower class of France. Robespierre assisted in writing the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen. He was a radical Jacobin leader and called for political change in the French monarchy. Robespierre gained a lot of power during the Reign of Terror. He began to use it as a way to eliminate political enemies. He soon became intoxicated with power and the National Convention began to question his motives. They went on to arrest and guillotine Robespierre. Robespierre was born and raised in Arras, France (Maximilien de Robespierre). Robespierre was poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a little under a year, 300,000 suspected revolutionary adversaries are put under arrest, over 17,000 more are sent to be guillotined. Robespierre used the Reign of Terror as a means to dispose of his political enemies through executions. Through the Reign of Terror, Robespierre gained the power of deciding life over death for others. He ordered more executions and purges, seemingly intoxicated with his new power (Maximilien de Robespierre). The Law of 22 Prairial was enacted on June 10, 1794. This law made it easier for the government to prosecute to indict revolutionaries and harder for someone to defend himself in court. This came to be known as loi de la Grande Terreur or law of the Great Terror. Because of this, approximately 10,000 people died without a trial or in prison. The next thing was teaching skills and using fun drills to improve the athlete s skills. This part lasted about thirty to forty five minutes. • 19. The Political Factions, By Thomas Paine And James Chalmers ¬Though not entirely representative of their political factions, Thomas Paine and James Chalmers are major literary figures in describing loyalist and anti loyalist sentiments in pre revolutionary America. While Thomas Paine argued for America s independence, James Chalmers counters the idea by proposing some of the possible negative consequences as well as down playing the perceived necessity of declaring independence. The major points of contention in both of their arguments deal heavily with the outcome of the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) including the government actions that were imposed upon the American colonies as a result. By examining the way in which they interpreted these events, one can gain insight into their contrasting political and philosophical ideologies of pre revolutionary America. Thomas Paine was a British born citizen of Pennsylvania whose formal education ended at only thirteen years old, but he chose to educate himself in his free time. He met Benjamin Franklin who then persuaded him to move to the colonies. He introduced his views of an independent Continent very shortly before the American Revolution, which heavily influenced many middle of the road colonists. Section 3 describes the method and data used to determine impact of trade agreement on the U.S. sugar program. Lastly, section 4 will discuss the conclusions and offers recommendations for future study. 2. Conceptual Framework As aforementioned, the U.S. sugar production is large, and in spite this, sugar imported under trade agreements affect the domestic market. Consequently, to understand the U.S. sugar market, a dive into U.S. production supply and trade agreement obligations is required to understand how these elements support the U.S. sugar program. Corresponding to domestic demand, the U.S. sugar market constraints the amount of domestic cane sugar and beet sugar produced to not exceed 85% of the estimated U.S. demand (McMinimy, 2016). In addition to four smaller trade agreements with nine countries, a larger part of the unfilled U.S. consumption demand comes from importation under WTO and NAFTA allocations (McMinimy, 2016; USDA FAS, 2017). Based on patterns from the unrestricted free trade period of 1975 1981, the U.S. Trade Representative allocates a WTO tariff rate quota (TRQ) allocation with 40 countries and the USDA executes the sugar program each FY, beginning October 1 each year (USDA ERS, 2017B). Stop reading and writing what encourages this mythology. Likewise, Gay challenges the notion that only books by women are given the title of women s fiction, and that topics of marriage and children, and parenthood are primarily marketed towards women when they concern both men and women. She argues against the stereotype of angry feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape humor, they are sensitive and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall term for women who does not tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight for their rights, when men have not, but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that women might be more ambitious and focused because we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to vote, to work outside the home, to work in environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the universities of our choice, and we ve had to prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of consideration. She also finds great offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive.
