The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Commerce and Business, Delhi School of
Economics, University of Delhi in collaboration with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, University of
Delhi is organizing its two-day
8th Annual International Commerce Conference
2023 on the theme- 'Bharat@2047: Role of Commerce and Business'
on January 11 (Wednesday) & January 12 (Thursday), 2023.
The theme focuses on the Vision Plan India @2047 undertaken by the Government of India
under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to make the country one of the world's top economies
and bring it closer to developed nation status by the 100th year of its Independence.
Under this plan, the Government of India has envisioned that Bharat will be at the paramount
place for an advanced and quality education system for which they have already launched
National Education Policy 2020 to improve the education system in India.
As commerce is the backbone of a nation's goal of economic growth and development, the
Department of Commerce, University of Delhi takes the mission forward on the role that will
be played by business firms in shaping 100 years of India's Independence.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE:
The Department of Commerce was set up in the year 1967. Located in the premises of Delhi
School of Economics, popularly known as DSE, Department of Commerce has kept pace
with changing times. The Department runs five programmes viz., M.Com., MBA (IB), MBA
(HRD), M. Phil. and Ph.D. and is known for its academic leadership and accomplishments.
Times Higher Education ranked the Department at 1st position in India in 2017 for its
contribution, scholarship and achievement. The Department has pioneered commerce
education in India and is known for its faculty and students. It has a very rich pool of alumni
spread across countries and sectors of industry.
ABOUT DEEN DAYAL UPADHYAYA COLLEGE:
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, established in 1990
in Karampura. The college receives a 100% grant from the Govt. of NCT of Delhi and is
recognized under 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act. The college has created a space for a multi-
disciplinary research center with financial support from UGC and other agencies. Built on a
plot of 7.7 acres in Sector 3, Dwarka the new campus of the college is a state-of-the-art
building. It is a multi-story building with many features of a green building, rainwater
harvesting system, and water recycling plant.
