Essay on Jane Austin and Pride Prejudice
Jane Austin is currently known today as one of the women who first developed the ideas related to
feminism (Abrams). Jane s work became prevalent in English literature during time of transition from
neo classicism to romanticism (Abrams). She was influenced by a number of other literary figures of
her time, and by the society in which she lived. Her writing sometimes reflected earlier writers, whom
she sometimes mocked because they always portrayed a perfect world in their writing and the world
was not that way. Her writing style was elegant and satirical. In her novels, Jane Austen described
people who were the sorts of people she knew. Many of the character s and events in her stories were
real events that were occurring in her life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The possibility of scorn was what influenced Austen s decision to publish anonymously (Watkins). It
was her favorite brother was who revealed her identity later (Watkins). The Austin family was
accepted socially by wealthier families but was not as wealthy as these families. This made it hard for
their daughters to attract suitors because there was not anything to be gained by the suitor s family.
Jane received a marriage proposal but turned it down because she did not want to sacrifice her life as
an author to juggle being a wife, mother and gentry hostess (Abrams). Jane Austin was one of the first
women in the public eye to say that women did not have to conform to norms that were set by society
(Johnson). Jane made it very clear in her writing that it was unfair for women to marry for class; she
mocked this idea in her writings (Bloom; Johnson). After visiting her brother Edward and his wife
Elizabeth, in 1796 Jane began writing pride and prejudice. Austen wrote Pride Prejudice as a reflection
of the times she lived in, the relationship between men and women and the rules of courting (Bloom).
It could even be said that the novels could be related to loneliness that she experienced because she
never married and maybe it was her living out her fantasies through her novels (Bloom). Pride and
Prejudice is a record of upper and middle class English society in a time of

Explain Why the Hispanic Vote Is Becoming More Important...
Explain why the Hispanic vote is becoming more important in US elections (10 marks)
Hispanics are a growing group in the USA in terms of politics, this can be seen through demographics,
according to the 2000 census, they did form 12% of the population, but by the 2010 census this figure
has increased over 16% (51 million people) this was due to immigration and birth rates, therefore over
the years they have become more influential as they are now a larger proportion or the electorate.
Furthermore, because they are a young group and a significant proportion are not yet of voting age,
with one quarter of Hispanics being under 18, Their full political importance is yet to show as they
have not yet acquired the right to vote, which is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be due to George D. Bush though, as in the 2000 he made a significant effort to pitch for
the Hispanic vote, with the help of him speaking fluent Spanish. However, in 2012 these figures went
down to 27%. With 71% of the Hispanic population supporting Obama and the Democratic beliefs
such as rights for ethnic minorities, welfare and supporters of the dream act allowing for
naturalisation. There was also evidence of the alienation of this group however, by Romney in 2012,
whose reference to self deportation and anti immigration views in the campaign is thought to have
affected his chances of winning in several states and for some future Republicans in their campaigns.
But, Hispanics did help push Republicans to victory in a few 2014 races, as when Cory Gardner
ousted Colorado Senator.
When looking at political campaigns in recent years there has been increasing evidence in the parties
campaigns for the support of this racial group as they are being targeted in the campaigns in a strategic
manner, by campaigning in Spanish or supporting citizenship, or heavy focus on Hispanic candidates
from the parties for examples the Republican focus was on candidates such as Marco Rubio and Ted
Cruz.
It is true that the Hispanic population, at 53 million, is still much smaller than the non Hispanic
population, at around 260 million. But it s also a population that represents a massive opportunity for
either party. In

Abortion Report
Abortion Report
I have chosen for my topic Abortion. I think that it is a topic that is very important in today s society
however it is often dodged or avoided.
Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know
what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes
the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only
her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which
says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. I happen to
agree with this.
This is what I will be focusing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them include:
Suction Abortion Dilation and Curettage (D C) Dilation and Evacuation (D E)
Salt Poisoning (Saline Injection) Hysterotomy Prostaglandin Abortion
There are also many risks and complications caused by having an abortion.
Some of the more widely known one s are:
1. Breast Cancer
2. Complications in future pregnancies, including excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical
damage, and sterility.
3. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
4. Uterine perforations.
5. Tubal pregnancy.
6. Placenta previa, which is extremely severe, life threatening bleeding in future pregnancies.
7. Retention of placenta
As you can see there are many different factors that contribute to abortion, and many different risks
that you take in having one. I think that abortion will remain a huge topic that s not going to go away
easily. I believe that they should be illegal however through doing this report I have been shown the
other side of the story, the Pro Choice side, and I have began to see there standpoint even though I
might not agree with

Symbolism In Inside Out And Back Again By Thanhha Lai
Symbolism is very prevalent in Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai. A papaya, a doll and a
chick, and an amethyst ring are included. These symbols show an ending and a beginning, home, and
love. Symbolism is used throughout the story to develop themes and lessons. Topics can more easily
understood through the use of symbolic items. In the story, the papaya is a major symbol. It represents
the end to one life and the beginning to another. As Ha was growing up she would watch her papaya
tree grow as she did. It would grow two times as tall as her on her tippy toes. Brother Vu chops;/ the
head falls;/ a silver blade slices (Lai 60). Ha s family was fleeing South Vietnam to escape their war
torn home which the Communists of the north were taking over. Brother Vu wanted to chop the tree
down so the Communists could never enjoy the sweet fruit. The family left their home behind, and
ended a chapter of their life. Life as they knew it was over. Black seeds spill/ like clusters of eyes,/ wet
and crying (Lai 60). A sad ending to an old life marked the new beginning to an even greater one.
Leaving was the right choice yet a very sad one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doll and chick are a sense of home that would always be with them. Brother Khoi had snuck the

Inside lies my mouse bitten doll,/ her arms wrapped around/ the limp fuzzy body of his chick (Lai 86).
Ha threw the bundle of the chick and doll into the open ocean. Their last sense of home was gone.
They would never be able to return. Ha threw her doll for her brother, to show him that home was

Alice Paul Reintroduces The Equal Rights Amendment
After the Women s Suffrage Movement, Alice Paul introduces the Equal Rights Amendment in 1923
to Congress, but is pushed aside as it was not seen as great importance at the time, hence why it was
not urgent for it to be reviewed and passed for an awaited ratification. A new movement rolls in to
improve the conditions women faced in the late 1900s, also known as the second wave feminist
movement. Martha Griffiths, a woman who served on the House Committee on Ways and Means,
reintroduces the Equal Rights Amendment, after revising it, in the 92nd Congress. The amendment
was given seven years to be ratified by thirty eight states and unfortunately, only twenty two had
ratified it in their states, resulting in the amendment not being passed. ... Show more content on

n the years to follow, after women are granted the right to vote, Congress and Alice Paul introduce the
amendment. As stated previously, it has been ignored for decades, until Griffiths created a joint
resolution and reintroduces the improved amendment. During the time in which the ERA had not been
brought up by the congress, the National Women s Organization, otherwise known as NOW, had been
advocating for it, being created in 1967 and lead by Paul. NOW repeatedly asks and protests for the
amendment to be passed so it could be ratified by the states. Even after the ERA is passed, NOW does
not stop in spreading the word about the amendment, not now, not ever (now.org). Betty Friedan s
book, titled The Feminine Mystique had waken up the many minds of those who felt like they were
missing something from their lives; women who were not content with their lives in which they only
served their family and were only looked down upon (Friedan 1963). Moreover, this unexplained
misery the women in the 1900s felt, all had one thing in common, they were all housewives. Similarly,
in The Americans textbook (2006), it is shown that a significant portion of the women in college share
the same idea, in the end. In an interview with women from Stanford University, it is shown that, Of
graduates in 1965, 70 percent planned not to work at all when their children were of preschool

Peanut Butter And Jelley Sandwich
How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich can be
quite simple. Depending on how the tasks are completed, of course. The first step is to find an area
with plenty of space to create the sandwich, preferably a counter. The next step is to locate and gather
the needed supplies. These supplies can be found in any local grocery store. Which include; a loaf of
bread, a peanut butter jar, a jar of jelly, a plate, and a butter knife (use any brand/kind). Once all
materials are set out for easy reach/using, open the bag of bread. To do that, grab one end of the twist

Photography and The Gothic
The photographs taken by Terry Evans in the collection Heartland show a range of perspectives of the
Midwest prairie. Heartland displays characteristics of the traditional Gothic through the combination
of wide landscapes and dilapidated factories. Photos from three collections portray the transition of the
untouched landscape to an overgrown and gothic scene. The first photos of the gothic transition come
from the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection. The collection shows untouched nature that
gives a feeling of the sublime. It shows wide green expanses, bathed in warm light, that shows a raw
beauty and goodness created by nature. This feeling of the sublime is a major aspect of the gothic due

This feeling is better reflected in the Matfield Green collection that depicts the green expanse that is
similar to the Prairie Images of Ground and Sky collection but also includes things such as railroads
and power lines that show that the area is populated. This collection adds an aspect of the isolated
landscape and fear of isolation because there is a sparse dotting of humans across the large expanse
that gives the viewer the knowledge that there are inhabitants around, but not seen or directly noticed.
The element of isolation in nature is demonstrated in The Mysteries of Udolpho and The Turn of the
Screw by Udolpho and the House at Bly through their setting in isolated landscapes with weak tethers
to the rest of civilization. The idea of overcoming this isolation is also present in the novels. Emily in
The Mysteries of Udolpho escapes the isolation to safety. The Governess in The Turn of the Screw
hopes to do the same by connection with the Man from Harley Street but is not as lucky. The effect of
the isolated landscape with an unknown element causes the reader and viewer to become suspicious of
their surroundings and uneasy with the sublime landscape due to the possibility that something evil is
residing within it and give a more traditional gothic feel. The third collection that completes a gothic
picture of the Midwest shows the ruins of the prairie. Steel Work

Application Of Rule Of Law Essay
THEORETICAL APPLICATION OF RULE OF LAW IN INDIA The common law system of justice
delivery has been adopted by India which owes its origins to British jurisprudence, the basis of which
is the rule of law. According to Dicey, the Englishman does not need any form of written or
administrative law to keep cheeks on the government but that the natural law and Rule of Law would
be enough to ensure absence of excutive arbitrariness. While India also follows and accepts the
concept of natural law, there are written and formal laws to ensure compliance. The Constitution of
India intended for India to be a country governed by the rule of law. It provides that the constitution
shall be the supreme power in the land and the legislative and the executive derive their authority from
the constitution. Any law that is made by the legislative has to be in conformity with the Constitute
failing which it will be declared invalid, this is provided for under Article 13 (1). Article 21 provides a
further check against arbitrary executive action by stating that no person shall be deprived of his life
or liberty except in accordance with the procedure established by law. Article 14 ensures that all
citizens are equal and that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of religion, sex, race or place
of birth, finally it ensures that there is separation of power between the three wings of the government,
the executive and the legislature have no influence on the judiciary. By these

Three Possible Reasons To Why Galetown To Have Severe Storms
As we talked about with Dr. Kenge, there are 3 possible claims to why Galetown is having severe
storms. The first claim is that the lake that was built near Galetown caused it to have more severe
storms. The second claim is that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms. The
third claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. In this case, claim 1,
2, and 3 are all responsible for the severe storms that have mysteriously occurred in Galetown.
The first claim is that the lake that was built near Galetown caused it to have more severe storms. That
statement is correct because the lake caused the city to have more surface water, which in turn would
cause more evaporation, condensation, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you look at storm 2 and storm 3 s temperatures before the storm, it s a drastic difference. Storm 2
was 81 degrees fahrenheit and storm 3 was 104 degrees fahrenheit. Storm 2 had only 5 inches of rain,
while storm 3 had 8 inches of rain. Based on temperature being one of the only variables, I concluded
that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms.
The third and final claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. That
statement is correct because stronger winds caused the air parcels to rise even higher than it would ve
been, which in turn caused more rainfall. Wind pushed the air parcel even higher in the air, in turn
making the air parcel lose more energy. As we know, the higher the air parcel rises in the air, the more
rain will occur than before, and even more severe storms. If you look at storm 3 and storm 4 wind
strength during the severe storms, it s a humongous difference! Storm 3 had a light wind strength,
while storm 4 had a very strong wind strength. Storm 3 had 8 inches of rain and storm 4 had 12 inches
of rain. Based on storm 3 and 4, they both had the same amount of local surface water and high
temperatures before the storm, the only difference is wind strength. I concluded that wind strength
caused Galetown to have more severe storms.
Based on the evidence presented above, I have concluded that all 3 claims of stronger winds, warmer
temperatures, and the creation of

Analysis Of The Prelude And Lord Byron s Biting Epic
The Romantic poets sought to write epic poems that incorporated new philosophies, ideals, and
literary trends, while also parodying, satirizing and deconstructing the epic poem itself. Rather than
merely extend the epic tradition, the Romantic poets subverted the characteristics and tropes attributed
to epic poetry, in turn creating an interesting revision of the epic. Two seminal works of Romantic
poetry that adequately showcase the revision of epic tradition are William Wordsworth s introspective
epic The Prelude and Lord Byron s biting epic satire Don Juan. Incorporating either introspection and
reflection or irony and satire, both works incorporate themes from the epic tradition while also
subverting its significant aspects.

Wordsworth is known for his introspection, often writing about feelings, emotions, mortality, and
nature. Wordsworth s The Prelude is a seminal work and a prime example of the romantic revision of
epic tradition. The poem is about the growth of the poet s mind. It is autobiographical and deals with
different periods of Wordsworth s life, such as his childhood, his time at Cambridge and his residence
in France. The poem features Wordsworth reflecting on his experiences and feelings, and the poem
acts as a look into how he views himself as a poet. In The Politics of the Epic: Wordsworth, Byron,
and the Romantic Redefinition of Heroism, author Paul Cantor contends that despite the use of epic
writing, the poem itself is vastly different from the epic. It is written in an elevated blank verse that
often has a Miltonic ring, it contains epic diction and epic similes, and it shows many other signs of
Wordsworth s attempt to work within the established epic tradition. But if one looks at the beginning
of the poem, where the epic poet traditionally invokes his Muse, one can see how radically
Wordsworth differs from his predecessor (Cantor, 377). The poem seems to mimic the Miltonic epic in
its style and diction. This does not mean, however, that Wordsworth intended to follow the
conventions of the epic, as The Prelude breaks several of the conventions of classical epic poetry. For
instance, the poem does not deal

The Theme Of Balance In Ursula Leguin s A Wizard Of Earthsea
The balance of light and dark has been off kilter forever and the balance has never been obtained! In
the fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin, the battle of light and dark has subsided,
balance has been restored, and shows the journey of discovering one s identity. At the end of the
novel, when the shadow and Ged conjoin it can be seen as the realization of one s identity, as well the
discovering of balance. LeGuin uses symbols in the novel to convey what is happening on a deeper
level. At the beginning of the end, the sea turned into sand as Ged approached his shadow, which can
be seen as a balance, when two opposites, such as sea and sand, become one. It shows when two
opposites find a middle point and are at peace as opposed to constantly battering against one another.

Light and dark have been unbalanced, waging on since the beginning of time, until they find a balance
where each has met its match. When Ged, with his flaming white staff merges with the pitch black
shadow, and emerging as one may be seen as if they have made peace at a set point and created
equilibrium, as previously discussed by Yarrow and Ged. When this occurs, Ged finally becomes a
whole self by recognizing who he is, and his balance of positive and negative decisions .Also, in the
interaction between Ged and the shadow on the yin and yang island, Ged spoke his own name and
embraced the shadow. Ying and Yang are seen as a duality forming a whole so when Ged and the
shadow unite, it can symbolize discovering his whole identity. Since often times darkness represents
evil, it can be seen as when Ged embraced the shadow, he is accepting his past decisions and dark side
that can overcome him at any time. It is a part of growing up and finding who you really are, to realize
your past faults, and accept what you did and move

Comparison of Child Characters in Salinger s Teddy and...
In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories there are many tales centered on children, who are often depicted as a
symbol of hope and connected with the values that stand in contrast to the ones typical of the adults
corrupted by materialism. In my essay, I would like to concentrate on the portrayal of children in A
Perfect Day for Bananafish and Teddy . Even though the way these characters are depicted is similar, a
child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things. While Sibyl can be seen as
a prototype of a childlike innocence, purity and simplicity, Teddy can hardly be considered a
prototypical innocent child. Despite the simplicity of Sibyl s thinking, her presence and behavior help
the reader draw many complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one trait of personality that Teddy and Sibyl share is the kindness. The kindness is evidence in
both, Sibyl s treatment of Seymour and Teddy s behavior. When Teddy s sister tells the young boy that
he is the stupidest person [she] ever met (176), Teddy kindly defends and reassures the young boy. In
his journal it is discovered that all Teddy writes about are small kind acts that he wishes to do for other
people: he wants to find and wear his father s dog tags because he thinks it will please him; he wants
to write a condolence letter to someone who is ill, and he wishes to be nicer to [the] librarian (180 1).
Sybil s presence and behavior leads one to many conclusions about the main adult in the story,
Seymour Glass. Seymour s motives and values are clearly and concisely revealed through interaction
with Sybil. Again, the color blue is used to show innocence. When Seymour takes off his robe to go in
the water, it is discovered that his shoulders were white and narrow, and his trunks were royal blue
(Saliger 13). Even by his name (Seymour see more), it is suggested that he is much closer to the nature
of a child than to the materialistic adult world, he sees in life much more than they do. In addition to

Summary and Reflection of Both Sides Of Time by Caroline...
For the Third Quarter SSR Project I chose the book Both Sides Of Time by Caroline B. Cooney. I
settled on this fiction book not only because I ve read all three books in Cooney s series Time
Travelers Quartet, but it just so happens to be my favorite out of all of them. This book is gripping to
me because of the events happening in the book. A hopeless romantic going back in time, involved in
two love triangles in two different centuries, then forced to leave one that she loves either way. I relish
reading any kind of love stories, but I especially enjoyed this one because of the twisted storylines.
This book starts off simple in the beginning then surely escalates. Annie Lockwood, the main
character is a typical teenage girl who just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Devonny Stratton, Strat s younger sister called the police because she felt bad for Matthew s family
and wanted to know who killed the kind servant and why. Annie and Strat still kept going on cute,
cheesy dates, but never kissed. The next week, in the library, Mr. Rowwels proposed marriage to
Harriet and she accepted. She thought that now that Ms. Lockwood had Strat s eyes only for on her,
she wouldn t have chance on marrying who she loved, which was Hiram Stratton, and thought that
marriage to someone she didn t love would be better than absolutely no marriage at all. Mr. Rowwels
turned out to be Mathew s murderer and Annie ended up going back to her own time, in 1995. There,
she tells her mother that her father is cheating on her. Then poor Annie realizes, in the 19th century,
Strat is doing the same thing to Harriet and feels guilty, because it s her fault. So to not interfere with
history, she goes back to the 18th century, kisses Strat then breaks up with him, and goes back to her
own time very heart broken about it.
If I needed to change any part of the story to make it more Hollywood style, it would be to make some
parts of the story a little more intense and dramatic. For example, I think that Harriet s jealousy of
Annie should be emphasized more in the film. In the film, Harriet should try to do schism things to
Annie and Strat s relationship or cry to Strat s family to convince them to hate

The Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey...
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present
from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a
little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after
finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of
the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked
about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of
people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or
disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People
needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same
core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in
order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into
leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way.
The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think
win win 5. First understand, then be understood 6.

Additionally, this article is from a commercial publication, and though it is reliable and intended for
an educated audience, it may include some dramatization and unnecessary information to make it
more appealing for readers. Word Count: 248 Extract B2 This biography, Coco Chanel: An Intimate
Life, is a secondary source text written by Lisa Chaney. Published in New York in 2011, this work
aims to examine Coco Chanel s unconventional journey from poverty to glamour, along which she
helped to redefine the idea of the modern European woman. This text is intended for an audience of
educated individuals with an interest in Coco Chanel and her legacy. Throughout this biography,
Chaney references private letters, personal records, and interviews with Chanel s friends and family to
explore the origins of Chanel s revolutionary ideas that influenced the European feminist movement.
This source is valuable because it provides an in depth examination of Coco Chanel s life through
analysis of new primary source evidence. Additionally, because Chaney is reflecting on Chanel s life
and influence in hindsight, she is able to link Chanel s work with the progression of European women
s rights throughout the twentieth century, establishing cause and effect relationships. However, this
source is limited because Chaney does not take an objective perspective, and, instead, aims to prove
her theory that Chanel was extremely

Stephen Crane Figurative Language Essay
When many people think of war they just think of a bunch of soldiers fighting on a battlefield. Many
people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. Some people don t
realize the trauma that the soldiers have to go through because of everything they saw and endured in
the war. Stephen Crane uses figurative language in both his poem and short story to prove that war is
very violent and dangerous. Crane shows his readers different perspectives of the war in order to show
his readers what war is really like. Stephen Crane uses irony in War is Kind and A Mystery of Heroism
to reveal that he is against the war by using figurative language and by showing different perspectives
of the war.

The Issues And Effects Of Military Families
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the issues and effects of military families and how they cope
with deployments and reintegration. That is, by exploring many interventions and programs such as
Operation Purple Camp, Military Child Education Coalition, and Families Overcoming under Stress.
These programs should be utilized more often in order for families and children to effectively cope
with military stress from deployments and reintegration. Three common themes that were analyzed in
the literature review which are 1) Effects of Deployment and Reintegration of Military Families and
Children; 2) Interventions for Children of Deployed or Reintegrated Parents; and 3) Maltreatment with
Children of Deployed and Reintegrated parents. Specifically, this paper analyzes issues that fall under
each of these three themes. That is, School and Educational Effects and Deployment, Psychosocial
and Behavioral Effects of Deployment, Education and School Environment Intervention Programs,
and Family Focused Intervention programs.
Introduction
One of the most difficult challenges that military families and children have to face is deployment and
reintegration. When Service individuals are deployed on extensive missions, the capacity to viably
adapt to the separation is imperative for keeping up individual well being and health for families and
children (Delahaij, 2016). Families and children deal with a lengthy amount of stressors. The most

computer waste
Abstract
The development, implementation, and maintenance of ISs constitute a large and growing part of the
cost of doing business; protecting these resources is a primary concern. Managers and users at all
levels play a major role in helping organizations achieve the positive benefits of IS. These people must
also take the lead in helping to minimize or eliminate the negative consequences of poorly designed
and improperly utilized information systems. For managers and users to have such an influence, they
must be properly educated. This paper examines about computer waste and computer related mistakes
and their causes; and the necessary measures to avoid them.

Yet even the most sophisticated hardware cannot produce meaningful output if users do not follow
proper procedures. Mistakes can be caused by unclear expectations and a lack of feedback. A
programmer might also develop a program that contains errors. In other cases, a data entry clerk might

intensify mistakes. As information technology becomes faster, more complex, and more powerful,
organizations and computer users face increased risks of experiencing the results of computer related
mistakes.
4. Preventing computer related waste and mistakes
a. Establishing Policies and Procedures
The first step to prevent computer related waste is to establish policies and procedures regarding
efficient acquisition, use, and disposal of systems and devices. Computers permeate organizations
today, and it is critical for organizations to ensure that systems are used to their full potential. As a
result, most companies have implemented stringent policies on the acquisition of computer systems

Poor Law was the why in which poor people of the 19th century got help to survive either by

the help of local parishes, churches or through self help. Additionally, Poor Law was in place to help
people who could not work due to health or disability, and these people were considered the deserving

idea of basic needs refers to shelter, food, and clothing ... (What Are Basic Needs). True freedom is
only possible when basic material needs are met, and the government must establish economic

Media And Journalism Ethics By Bill Kovach And Tom Rosensteil
Serving the public s interest has always been an objective for the media. The ethic codes emphasize
that journalists serve the public and that that they are dedicated to truth and fairness. (Foreman 2010
P.25) This has been adopted by journalism organizations within this nation.
Distasteful content is an ethical dilemma for the press, it is a difficult issue what is acceptable to one
person may not be acceptable to another. As well as this newspapers and commercial television are
under a great amount of pressure to deliver quality news that stands out from their competitors, this
can have an impact on the material that they decide to use.
Journalists, Bill Kovach and Tom Rosensteil s were guided by these beliefs and formed a definition of
journalisms primary purpose which is to provide citizens with the information they need to be free and
self governing. (Foreman 2010 p.25)
In his book Media and Journalism Ethics S.P. Phadke has stated that journalists are the formulators
and disseminators of news they have a great responsibility both morally and pragmatically. As it is
through them that citizen s view the world, and they set the agenda for social concern and debate.
(Phadke 2008)
In their book The Elements of Journalism Kovach and Rosensteil highlight this point The news media
help us to define our communities and help us create a common language and common knowledge
rooted in reality. Journalism also helps identify a community s goals, heroes and villains.

Forrest Gump Film Analysis
Forrest Gump is a movie that was released in the summer of 1994 and is based on a novel by the same
name that was written by Winston Groom almost a decade earlier in 1986. The movie was directed by
Robert Zemeckis and produced by Paramount Pictures. The film features Tom Hanks as the main
character Forrest Gump who is a slow witted character but also has a heart of gold and is extremely
courageous. The supporting cast consists of Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan), Robin Wright (Forrest s mother) ,
Sally Field(Jenny) , Mykelti Williamson (Bubba), among others. In this critique I will be summarizing
the plot and analyzing what I liked and disliked about the movie and whether it stands the test of time.
The movie begins with Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop and starting a friendly conversation with a
stranger sitting next to him. He begins to tell his life story and drops one of the most famous lines in
film history, My Momma always said, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re
going to get. . This line would be the whole focus of the movie as you will see what Forrest Gump has
experienced and accomplished in his life up to that point, as well as the many important figures he had
crossed paths with. Early on in life Forrest was often bullied at school for his curved spine and his low
intelligence. On his first day of school in 1950s Greenbow, Alabama, Forrest meets a girl named Jenny

A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control...
A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the Comstock Laws.
Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a congressman who wanted to put a ban on
spreading pornography through the U.S mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon broadened what the
Comstock laws covered, to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail that had to do with
contraceptives, even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she was arrested many
times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally had her biggest
victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S v. One Package of Japanese
Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock Laws unconstitutional, but it did rule that
contraceptives and information regarding them could be shared through the mail, a huge
accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles, 2009, pg.8).
Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and continues to
influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then and now. Birth rates are a huge
indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe abortions improved throughout the years. In 1930,
the birth rate was 20.7 births to every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg. 101). Birth
rates have trended downwards throughout the years and in 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) stated that the current birthrate was down to 12.4 live births to every

Difference Between Cipla And Ranbaxy
A few years prior to 2006, investors were hooked to Ranbaxy Labs development story and the
numerous income triggers that lay ahead. Cipla on the other hand was an organization that got little
consideration, part of the way on the grounds that its strategies appeared to be very dismal contrasted
with Ranbaxy. Ranbaxy s high risk high return model had worked well for them till 2006, while Cipla
s lower risk strategy seemed less engaging.
However the trends were changing in 2006, and Cipla s more stable strategies emerged rewarding,
while Ranbaxy went through a rough patch.
Most analysts awarded this change in the drift to Cipla s strategy, which showed to be more suitable to
the market scenario then. In early 2005, competition was increasing and pricing pressure was
unrelenting. Ranbaxy was the most globalized pharma company in India, with a ground presence in 49
countries, products available in 125 countries, and manufacturing operations in eight countries. In 05,
Ranbaxy s formulation sales in markets outside India were $463m (40% of overall revenue). On the
contrary, Cipla dis not even have its own marketing presence anywhere outside India. Cipla was also,

Compare and Contrast Of Mice and Men Movie and Book Essay
Compare and Contrast Of Mice and Men Movie and Book The classic novel, Of Mice and Men,
written by John Steinbeck was made into a Hollywood Blockbuster in 1992. Directed and acted by
Gary Sinise and John Malkovich, Hollywood took a stab at trying to recreate this literary success. The
novel, which takes place in the 1930 s, follows the lives of two men, George and Lennie, as they try to
attain their dream of owning a farm. George is a smart man who always seems to have things figured
out. Lennie is massive, but has the mind of a young child. George looks after him, but it is not easy
since Lennie always seems to get himself in some kind of trouble. As they struggle towards their

Moreover, in the book George is shown to really hate Curley, whereas in the movie, George doesn t
seem to like Curley too much but he definitely doesn t hate him. Apart from these characters, all the
others are pretty much very similar in both the book and the movie. As well as the movie having some
character differences, some of the scenes were either cut out or added. One of the major differences in
the movie is that Candy never comes into the room when Lennie and Crooks are talking to each other.
This is an important part in the novel because when Candy comes in, Crooks finds about their future
plan wants to get in on the deal. Except this scene is cut short in the movie and Candy never shows up
at Crooks house. Another important part that is changed in the movie is the ending. The movie never
shows Lennie have the illusions of his Aunt Carla and the rabbits lecturing him while he is waiting by
the pond. Also, is seems as though in the movie George doesn t hesitate to shoot Lennie, and it is all
over very quickly. Furthermore, the important scene when Slim tells George, You hadda, George
(107), never happens in the movie, but instead it ends with an image coming from within George s
imagination, a memory of the many happy times that he and Lennie had shared. There are also some
scenes that are added into the movie, but only because the novel is so short, they needed to add things
to make the

The Structural Transformation Of The Public Sphere...
Literature Review Jurgen Habermas can be seen as one of the founders of the term and details the idea
of refeudalization in their novel The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere in which he writes
how the bourgeois public sphere eroded because of economic and structural changes. The boundaries
between state and society blurred, leading to a kind of refeudalization of society. (Habermas, 1989).
Essentially state and society became involved in each other s spheres and large non governmental
organizations replaced the old institutions of the public sphere. Furthermore, where the public sphere
takes on a feudal aspect is the process of politicians and organizations representing themselves before
the voters. (Habermas, 1989). These ideas are then further explained in more contemporary contexts
by Alain Supiot writing that primarily of the refeudalization of law but also ignorance of the
organization of powers underpinning the government by laws is taking us back to government by men,
that is, to feudal ways of hybridizing the public and the private. (Supiot, 2013). Then further clarifying
that Western feudalism today is the dependency between people having a legal character where there
are status differences and the dependent party may be granted possession, but it is burdened by the
obligations to the benefit of the grantor. (Supiot, 2013). Supiot does however put forward the idea that
refeudalization of law does not mean a return to the middle ages but

The Effects of Legalizing Drugs Essay
Tobacco is the number one preventable killer in America with alcohol at number two (Preventable
Causes of Death). And if drug related crime and deaths were not enough for society, Marijuana is now
legal in Colorado and Washington which has already created new substance related problems. Just the
fact of legalizing it confuses teens into thinking that it s not risky anymore, thus promoting adolescent
use. Legal or not, the addictive nature of pot has always been the most influential gateway substance
to either alcohol, tobacco, or hard drugs. This means that Marijuana is almost always linked to
substance induced destruction whether it s directly or indirectly, legal or illegal, self destructive or
destructive to others. Therefore, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new policy is confusing in Colorado and Washington, the states that have made it legal for
someone twenty one or over to own an ounce of Marijuana at a time for private recreational use. The
problems with this new legal policy are that it is virtually unenforceable and it contradicts the
Constitution of The United States of America. Article VI Clause 2 of the Constitution states that the
Constitution is the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby
anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding. This means that
because federal law states that Marijuana is illegal, there is a contradiction when states try to make it
legal. In turn, this causes problems in areas like the federal school district where federal and state laws
tend to clash. At the University of Colorado Boulder, spokesman Bronson Hillard says that because
these schools receive federal funding, they must abide to the no drugs on campus policy that the rest
of America stands by, creating tension and confusion on campus (Harvey). H.Norman Arkans from
University of Washington agrees when he says that they also are a large recipient of federal money, so
there is a conflict. Conflict is right. Now students are pouring into the campuses stoned and unable to
retain any information. Many of the students are unsure about the laws and get in trouble because the
drug is not allowed on campus.

Causes And Effects Of Coral Reefs
Ground water contamination, damage to coral reefs, sea grass beds and mangrove ecosystems,
salinization of soils and damage to vegetation, tsunami generated waste and debris, impacts on sewage
collection and treatment systems, damage to protected areas, coastline erosion and inundation,
changes in river hydrology, and loss of livelihoods based on natural resources or ecosystem services
are all examples of damage caused by a tsunami.
Coral reefs are natural breakwaters for a tsunami wave as it moves towards the coastline. The
December 2004 Indonesian earthquake tsunami devastated coral reefs around Indian Ocean coastlines.
Four years after the tsunami, the healthy corals were still regenerating. Due to the increase of
sedimentation, it doesn t allow light from the sun to penetrate through the water. It is crucial for coral
reefs to get sunlight for reproduction. Another major issue is the amount of debris from land bulldozes
habitats. Within minutes, most of the seawater that destroyed coastal communities returned to the
ocean, bringing untold tons of stuff with it; all the remnants of humanity including pieces of buildings,
cars, trees, garbage, huge amounts of plastics, eroded soils and likely a wide variety of pollutants from
those soils, homes, factories, stores, etc. Then there are the plastics and non biodegradable junk that
will initially pollute the coastlines and will then move out to sea, eventually reaching the north Pacific
and the western shores of North

The emerging concept of mobile edge clouds equips cellular network entities (such as basestations)
with servers, so that users can run cloud services with significantly lower latency
[2]. The introduction of femtocells allows users to buy their own cellular network devices based on
their needs, thereby reducing the operators expenditure and improving the network coverage [3]. All
these trends point to the same direction.
That is, in the future, there will be more businesses operating on a single networked platform, and the
interactions between them will become increasingly complex. The tradition that does not change
however is that, due to physical limitations, the amount of resources (such as communication
bandwidth, computational capability of servers, electricity, etc.) in the system remains limited.
Therefore, there is a growing need of studying how to efficiently allocate resources to different
business entities. x Q. Song is the corresponding author.
One fast and effective method of allocating resources at market value is using auctions. The classical
sealed price double auction1 is used in [4] and [5], where bids are made privately and truthfulness can
be ensured. References [6], [7], and [8] formulated the cloud resource pricing problem as a multi unit
combinational auction problem, which consider multiple types of computational resources for sale.

Human Connection In Night By Elie Wiesel
The Importance of Human Connection Human connection impacts lives around the world every day.
The need for human connection is essential to our survival, especially in times of hardship. Keeping
people sentient even in the worst situations, human connection gives people a reason not to give up. In
Night, One Survivor Remembers, and experiences today, human connection contributes greatly to
health and survival by motivating us to withstand suffering. In the novel, Night, Elie Wiesel and his
father are motivated to survive for each other through their human connection during the Holocaust.
Elie s father demonstrates how much he values his connection with Elie when he lets Franek punish
him meaninglessly so that Elie can keep his gold crown. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Twins Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Missouri is beginning to include human
connection in their heath care system to make their patients experiences better. The nurses have been
talking with patients more about their personal issues and events happening in their life. The patients
get to know people in the hospital a little better and can develop connections with them so they will
feel healthier and more motivated that they are getting in better health. The power of human
connection can be the difference between good health and life or death in extreme circumstances. Walt
Larimore M. D. once had to find the source of a lady s death out in the country. He had to investigate
the lady, who was pale and calmly sat in a rocking chair in the heart of her old home. Larimore
concludes that without connections with other people, bad health and even death can ensue. He writes
about how the time you spend in interaction with others can dramatically affect your physical health .
Those who have no connections with others are at greater risk for life threatening illnesses and even
death. Enhancing relationships and reducing loneliness will lead to better health and therefore a better
life. Liberators International s experiment also encourages human connection to reduce stress from the

Introversion In Pop Culture
What kind of introvert are you? Click here to find out with this quiz made by Science of Us. Like me,
maybe you didn t think that there was more than one category. As Scott Barry Kaufman has written,
pop culture has defined introversion in quite a few confusing ways. BRIEF HISTORY OF
INTROVERSION Freud s protege C.G. Jung called it inwardly directed psychic energy , but his work
on introversion has been criticized. As Patricia Barrigan rightfully argued in 1960, the idea required
more specification due to clashing concepts of introversion. What appear to be minor distinctions
between the various conceptions may in fact be crucial ones, she wrote. The commonly accepted
meaning of the word today was produced by the Big Five Personality

Print Media Press
46. Print Media (Press). The Government of India Act of 1935, gave a large measure of self
government to Indians but none of the major newspapers were owned or edited by Muslims .
However, when Indian Muslims began to organize and rally to the political platform of the All India
Muslim League, concerted efforts were made to develop a strong press to support the Muslim national
cause. A number of Muslim owned newspapers were established. Two English language newspapers,
Morning News in Calcutta and Dawn in Delhi, began publishing in 1942. In the late 1930s, the first
Indian Muslim news agency, the Orient Press of India, was founded. Important events unfolded as
under:
a. On the eve of independence, however, only four major Muslim owned newspapers existed namely
Pakistan times, Zamindar, Nawa I Waqt, and Civil and Military Gazette, all located in Lahore. A
number of Muslim newspapers moved to Pakistan, Dawn began publication as a daily in Karachi on
the day of independence in 1947. Other publications were also shifted to Pakistan including the
Morning News and the Urdu language dailies Jang and Anjam .
b. The National Press Trust, a nonprofit organization that is a major newspaper publisher, was
established by businessmen in 1964 and taken over by the government in 1972. The two major news
agencies in Pakistan are the Associated Press of Pakistan and Pakistan Press International. The
Associated Press of Pakistan was taken over by the government in 1960.

Cleopatra and Her Relationship with Roman Caesars
Stacy Schiff is a remarkable writer and a historian. She has a Pulitzer Prize to prove it, and she is also
a guest writer for the New York Times and various newspapers. Her latest work is Cleopatra: A Life.
Schiff tells how Cleopatra was a very remarkable woman. Even after Octavian, Cleopatra was known
as the wicked women in the world.
Schiff tells much about Cleopatra s life involving Mark Antony and Julius Caesar. Schiff ensures us
that Cleopatra had one of the top educations from Alexandria. Caesar did not only stay in Egypt for
Cleopatra s seductress ways, however Caesar wanted to get rein over his enemies. When Caesar was
murdered, by a group of schemers, in the Roman Senate, his adopted great nephew Gaius Octavius
was his only heir. Mark Antony thought he was heir to the Roman Empire but however, Caesar had
different plans.
Janet Suzman tells the story of how Shakespeare wrote the play about Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
Suzman says Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is a horrific story of a formally mighty conqueror
who is infatuated with the Queen of Egypt. Antony was so obsessed with Cleopatra and how she led
him to his death. (Draycott, 38 44) Suzman said that Cleopatra and Antony had a horrible love story.
Schiff tells the story of Cleopatra and Antony very similar to Suzman. However, Cleopatra and Antony
s relationship had its problems. Schiff believed that Antony and Cleopatra had much in common. They
were both left out of Caesar s will. Schiff also tells how

A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment
CHAPTER 4
POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS
IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted
into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems.
Global warming
Acid rain
Smog
Odors
Respiratory and other health hazards.
The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and
impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of
carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates.
It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of
harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact
on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after treatment of
the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important.
4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES
Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the
pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight,
stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing
number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During the
late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin

  • 2. Essay on Jane Austin and Pride Prejudice Jane Austin is currently known today as one of the women who first developed the ideas related to feminism (Abrams). Jane s work became prevalent in English literature during time of transition from neo classicism to romanticism (Abrams). She was influenced by a number of other literary figures of her time, and by the society in which she lived. Her writing sometimes reflected earlier writers, whom she sometimes mocked because they always portrayed a perfect world in their writing and the world was not that way. Her writing style was elegant and satirical. In her novels, Jane Austen described people who were the sorts of people she knew. The possibility of scorn was what influenced Austen s decision to publish anonymously (Watkins). It was her favorite brother was who revealed her identity later (Watkins). The Austin family was accepted socially by wealthier families but was not as wealthy as these families. This made it hard for their daughters to attract suitors because there was not anything to be gained by the suitor s family. Jane received a marriage proposal but turned it down because she did not want to sacrifice her life as an author to juggle being a wife, mother and gentry hostess (Abrams). Jane Austin was one of the first women in the public eye to say that women did not have to conform to norms that were set by society (Johnson). Jane made it very clear in her writing that it was unfair for women to marry for class; she mocked this idea in her writings (Bloom; Johnson). After visiting her brother Edward and his wife Elizabeth, in 1796 Jane began writing pride and prejudice. Austen wrote Pride Prejudice as a reflection of the times she lived in, the relationship between men and women and the rules of courting (Bloom). It could even be said that the novels could be related to loneliness that she experienced because she never married and maybe it was her living out her fantasies through her novels (Bloom). • 3. Explain Why the Hispanic Vote Is Becoming More Important... Explain why the Hispanic vote is becoming more important in US elections (10 marks) Hispanics are a growing group in the USA in terms of politics, this can be seen through demographics, according to the 2000 census, they did form 12% of the population, but by the 2010 census this figure has increased over 16% (51 million people) this was due to immigration and birth rates, therefore over the years they have become more influential as they are now a larger proportion or the electorate. Furthermore, because they are a young group and a significant proportion are not yet of voting age, with one quarter of Hispanics being under 18, Their full political importance is yet to show as they have not yet acquired the right to vote, which is one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be due to George D. Bush though, as in the 2000 he made a significant effort to pitch for the Hispanic vote, with the help of him speaking fluent Spanish. However, in 2012 these figures went down to 27%. With 71% of the Hispanic population supporting Obama and the Democratic beliefs such as rights for ethnic minorities, welfare and supporters of the dream act allowing for naturalisation. There was also evidence of the alienation of this group however, by Romney in 2012, whose reference to self deportation and anti immigration views in the campaign is thought to have affected his chances of winning in several states and for some future Republicans in their campaigns. But, Hispanics did help push Republicans to victory in a few 2014 races, as when Cory Gardner ousted Colorado Senator. When looking at political campaigns in recent years there has been increasing evidence in the parties campaigns for the support of this racial group as they are being targeted in the campaigns in a strategic manner, by campaigning in Spanish or supporting citizenship, or heavy focus on Hispanic candidates from the parties for examples the Republican focus was on candidates such as Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. It is true that the Hispanic population, at 53 million, is still much smaller than the non Hispanic population, at around 260 million. Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only her business. Topics can more easily understood through the use of symbolic items. In the story, the papaya is a major symbol. It represents the end to one life and the beginning to another. Based on temperature being one of the only variables, I concluded that warmer weather caused Galetown to have more severe storms. The third and final claim is that stronger winds caused Galetown to have more severe storms. That statement is correct because stronger winds caused the air parcels to rise even higher than it would ve been, which in turn caused more rainfall. Two seminal works of Romantic poetry that adequately showcase the revision of epic tradition are William Wordsworth s introspective epic The Prelude and Lord Byron s biting epic satire Don Juan. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wordsworth is known for his introspection, often writing about feelings, emotions, mortality, and nature. Wordsworth s The Prelude is a seminal work and a prime example of the romantic revision of epic tradition. The poem is about the growth of the poet s mind. It is autobiographical and deals with different periods of Wordsworth s life, such as his childhood, his time at Cambridge and his residence in France. The poem features Wordsworth reflecting on his experiences and feelings, and the poem acts as a look into how he views himself as a poet. In The Politics of the Epic: Wordsworth, Byron, and the Romantic Redefinition of Heroism, author Paul Cantor contends that despite the use of epic writing, the poem itself is vastly different from the epic. It is written in an elevated blank verse that often has a Miltonic ring, it contains epic diction and epic similes, and it shows many other signs of Wordsworth s attempt to work within the established epic tradition. But if one looks at the beginning of the poem, where the epic poet traditionally invokes his Muse, one can see how radically Wordsworth differs from his predecessor (Cantor, 377). The poem seems to mimic the Miltonic epic in its style and diction. This does not mean, however, that Wordsworth intended to follow the conventions of the epic, as The Prelude breaks several of the conventions of classical epic poetry. Even though the way these characters are depicted is similar, a child protagonist in each of the stories is representative of different things. This book is gripping to me because of the events happening in the book. A hopeless romantic going back in time, involved in two love triangles in two different centuries, then forced to leave one that she loves either way. I relish reading any kind of love stories, but I especially enjoyed this one because of the twisted storylines. This book starts off simple in the beginning then surely escalates. Annie Lockwood, the main character is a typical teenage girl who just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Devonny Stratton, Strat s younger sister called the police because she felt bad for Matthew s family and wanted to know who killed the kind servant and why. Annie and Strat still kept going on cute, cheesy dates, but never kissed. The next week, in the library, Mr. Rowwels proposed marriage to Harriet and she accepted. She thought that now that Ms. Lockwood had Strat s eyes only for on her, she wouldn t have chance on marrying who she loved, which was Hiram Stratton, and thought that marriage to someone she didn t love would be better than absolutely no marriage at all. Mr. Rowwels turned out to be Mathew s murderer and Annie ended up going back to her own time, in 1995. There, she tells her mother that her father is cheating on her. Then poor Annie realizes, in the 19th century, Strat is doing the same thing to Harriet and feels guilty, because it s her fault. So to not interfere with history, she goes back to the 18th century, kisses Strat then breaks up with him, and goes back to her own time very heart broken about it. If I needed to change any part of the story to make it more Hollywood style, it would be to make some parts of the story a little more intense and dramatic. For example, I think that Harriet s jealousy of Annie should be emphasized more in the film. In the film, Harriet should try to do schism things to Annie and Strat s relationship or cry to Strat s family to convince them to hate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Covey When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a present from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling excited, I was a little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult almost a decade later, after finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The immaturity made me believe that most of the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to make sense. But now those things Covey talked about are actually tough challenges in my life. The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of people fix the problems in a scattershot approach which will eventually lead to chaos or disappointment for the most time. The author s answer to this is to be an effective person. People needs to learn to solve problems from personal life, study and work with an approach based on a same core values. The book is about how to develop the core values basically through the seven habits in order to be a more effective person. The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into leadership and management in people s personal and professional life in the effective way. The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Published in New York in 2011, this work aims to examine Coco Chanel s unconventional journey from poverty to glamour, along which she helped to redefine the idea of the modern European woman. This text is intended for an audience of educated individuals with an interest in Coco Chanel and her legacy. Throughout this biography, Chaney references private letters, personal records, and interviews with Chanel s friends and family to explore the origins of Chanel s revolutionary ideas that influenced the European feminist movement. This source is valuable because it provides an in depth examination of Coco Chanel s life through analysis of new primary source evidence. Additionally, because Chaney is reflecting on Chanel s life and influence in hindsight, she is able to link Chanel s work with the progression of European women s rights throughout the twentieth century, establishing cause and effect relationships. Many people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. The ethic codes emphasize that journalists serve the public and that that they are dedicated to truth and fairness. Distasteful content is an ethical dilemma for the press, it is a difficult issue what is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another. Forrest Gump Film Analysis Forrest Gump is a movie that was released in the summer of 1994 and is based on a novel by the same name that was written by Winston Groom almost a decade earlier in 1986. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by Paramount Pictures. The film features Tom Hanks as the main character Forrest Gump who is a slow witted character but also has a heart of gold and is extremely courageous. The supporting cast consists of Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan), Robin Wright (Forrest s mother) , Sally Field(Jenny) , Mykelti Williamson (Bubba), among others. In this critique I will be summarizing the plot and analyzing what I liked and disliked about the movie and whether it stands the test of time. He begins to tell his life story and drops one of the most famous lines in film history, My Momma always said, life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re going to get. . • 37. A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control... A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the Comstock Laws. Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a congressman who wanted to put a ban on spreading pornography through the U.S mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon broadened what the Comstock laws covered, to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail that had to do with contraceptives, even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she was arrested many times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally had her biggest victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S v. One Package of Japanese Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock Laws unconstitutional, but it did rule that contraceptives and information regarding them could be shared through the mail, a huge accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles, 2009, pg.8). Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and continues to influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then and now. Birth rates are a huge indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe abortions improved throughout the years. In 1930, the birth rate was 20.7 births to every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg. 101). As well as the movie having some character differences, some of the scenes were either cut out or added. One of the major differences in the movie is that Candy never comes into the room when Lennie and Crooks are talking to each other. This is an important part in the novel because when Candy comes in, Crooks finds about their future plan wants to get in on the deal. • 40. The Structural Transformation Of The Public Sphere... Literature Review Jurgen Habermas can be seen as one of the founders of the term and details the idea of refeudalization in their novel The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere in which he writes how the bourgeois public sphere eroded because of economic and structural changes. The boundaries between state and society blurred, leading to a kind of refeudalization of society. (Habermas, 1989). Essentially state and society became involved in each other s spheres and large non governmental organizations replaced the old institutions of the public sphere. Furthermore, where the public sphere takes on a feudal aspect is the process of politicians and organizations representing themselves before the voters. (Habermas, 1989). These ideas are then further explained in more contemporary contexts by Alain Supiot writing that primarily of the refeudalization of law but also ignorance of the organization of powers underpinning the government by laws is taking us back to government by men, that is, to feudal ways of hybridizing the public and the private. (Supiot, 2013). Then further clarifying that Western feudalism today is the dependency between people having a legal character where there are status differences and the dependent party may be granted possession, but it is burdened by the obligations to the benefit of the grantor. And if drug related crime and deaths were not enough for society, Marijuana is now legal in Colorado and Washington which has already created new substance related problems. Just the fact of legalizing it confuses teens into thinking that it s not risky anymore, thus promoting adolescent use. The new policy is confusing in Colorado and Washington, the states that have made it legal for someone twenty one or over to own an ounce of Marijuana at a time for private recreational use. The problems with this new legal policy are that it is virtually unenforceable and it contradicts the Constitution of The United States of America. Article VI Clause 2 of the Constitution states that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding. This means that because federal law states that Marijuana is illegal, there is a contradiction when states try to make it legal. In turn, this causes problems in areas like the federal school district where federal and state laws tend to clash. At the University of Colorado Boulder, spokesman Bronson Hillard says that because these schools receive federal funding, they must abide to the no drugs on campus policy that the rest of America stands by, creating tension and confusion on campus (Harvey). H.Norman Arkans from University of Washington agrees when he says that they also are a large recipient of federal money, so there is a conflict. Conflict is right. Coral reefs are natural breakwaters for a tsunami wave as it moves towards the coastline. The December 2004 Indonesian earthquake tsunami devastated coral reefs around Indian Ocean coastlines. Four years after the tsunami, the healthy corals were still regenerating. Due to the increase of sedimentation, it doesn t allow light from the sun to penetrate through the water. Jung called it inwardly directed psychic energy , but his work on introversion has been criticized. As Patricia Barrigan rightfully argued in 1960, the idea required more specification due to clashing concepts of introversion. • 49. A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Environment CHAPTER 4 POLLUTION DUE TO EMISSIONS IC engines generate undesirable emissions during the combustion process. The emissions exhausted into the surroundings pollute the atmosphere and causes following problems. Global warming Acid rain Smog Odors Respiratory and other health hazards. The major causes of these emissions are non stoichiometric combustion, dissociation of nitrogen, and impurities in the fuel and air. The emissions of concern are unburnt hydro carbons (HC), oxides of carbon (COX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), oxides of sulphur (SOX) and solid carbon particulates. It is the dream of engineers and scientists to develop engines and fuels such that very few quantity of harmful emissions are generated, and these could be let into the surroundings without a major impact on the environment. However with the present technology this is not possible, and after treatment of the exhaust gases as well as in cylinder reduction of emissions is important. 4.1 AIR POLLUTION DUE TO IC ENGINES Until the middle of the 20th century the number of IC engines in the world was so small that the pollution they caused was tolerable. During that period the environment, with the help of sunlight, stayed relatively clean. As world population grew, power plants, factories, and an ever increasing number of automobiles began to pollute the air to the extent that it is no longer acceptable. During the late 1940s, air pollution as a problem was first recognized in the Los Angeles basin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
