3. Examples Of Fear In The Crucible
Sometimes people are very afraid of telling the truth, their fear makes them live in discouragement.
Sometimes, their fear also affects others around them because they lack self confidence .When this
happens, important relationships suffer. The play The Crucible by Arthur Miller has a dramatic
storyline the characters struggle with the Puritan authority and the town people having to make a
decision on who is telling the truthand who is hiring. The girls make false accusations because of
their fear of the Puritan authorities because they torched Tituba and they can do that to them, also
by doing this it may make their lives miserable.
The girls are scared of being torched because they know that the authority can hurt anyone and
they can do what they want and no one will stop them. An example that shows this from the text
is Putnam: This woman must be hanged! She must he taken and hanged! Tituba, terrified, falls
to her knees: No, no don t hang Tituba! I tell him I don t desire to work for him, sir
(Crucible.1.1119). This is showing how the girls are afraid of them because they have already
beat Tituba and she didn t do anything. To add to that it shows the girls if they act a certain way
and the authority does not like it the they can punish them by beating them or even worse by
hanging them. Another quote that shows this is Parris: then see no spirits now, and prove to us
that you can faint by your own will, as you claim. Mary Warner: stares, searching for the

4. Wuthering Heights Displacement Quotes
Displaced
The first theme is that of displacement. After reading a majority of Wuthering Height there is a
lot involving people who have been displaced. Our first example of this would be when
Mr.Earnshaw brings back Heathcliff to Wuthering Heights The master tried to explain the matter;
but he was really half dead with fatigue, and all that I could make out, amongst her scolding, was
a tale of his seeing it starving, and houseless, and as good as dumb, in the streets of Liverpool,
where he picked it up and inquired for its owner. (Bronte, p.38) From this quote we can see that
Heathcliff is out of placed due to the fact that he is very dirty, and ragged, where as the Earnshaws
are fair skinned and well groomed.
The second example of displacement would be when Catherine was at Thrushcross Grange for
five weeks. The mistress visited her often in the interval, and commenced her plan of reform by
trying to raise her self respect with fine clothes and flattery, which she took readily; so that, instead
of a wild, hatless little savage jumping into the house, and rushing to squeeze us all breathless.
(Bronte pg 55) From this quote we understand that while Catherine was staying at the Grange she
became displaced from her normal life at Wuthering heights, which in turn changed her perspective
and appearance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Vietnam War A Just War
A Just War I do not believe that the Vietnam War was a just war, nor do I believe that there were
any true benefits to the U.S. involvements in the war. A just war requires just authority, cause, and
intention, as well as just conduct during the war, and the United States did not meet these
requirements during the Vietnam War. Our cause was not just, because we only entered the conflict
to try and stop the spread of communism between two countries unrelated to us and our dealings.
We initially went in as advisors to help the French, but once they retreated, we wrongly assumed
their position in the fight against North Vietnam and its Communist agenda. Unfortunately, we
weren t even able to do that, and were forced to retreat. We were not under... Show more content on

President Bush invaded Iraq (going against the wishes of many other countries) based off of the
thought that they had nuclear weapons and were planning to give them to terrorists, but he was
mistaken. Even though the war may have been fought eventually either way, the fact that they were
wrong about the main reason for the strike is worrisome. Preemptive strikes should only be carried
out when countries have undeniable, hard proof that an enemy is going to stage a powerful attack
immediately. In this part in the fragile study of war ethics, no matter what the fight is about, the end
must always justify the means. Because the preemptive strike was not just, I do not fully believe
that the Iraq War was just, especially with the escalations in violence as it went on. As for the
Afghanistan War, it is harder for me to decide whether or not it is just. We initially officially
attacked because of the September 11, 2001 attack, but our actions during the war (such as the large
number of civilian deaths, the abuse against Afghans, and the slow reconstruction efforts) were
decidedly not just. It is more difficult to decide which of these conflicts are the most honorable. I do
believe that both of these wars had a more just cause than the Vietnam War, because we actually had
significant reasons to start thee conflicts, not just some need to contain and control another country.
I do not, however, believe we had just authority. In fact, I believe that the levels of just authority are
about the same when it comes to these three conflicts. The just intention is a bit harder to figure out
as well, because even though the combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan have been formally
ended, there are still thousands of troops in both countries. Although the United States has
technically completed our original mission, we are

8. Bowling Green State University Program Analysis
The President s Leadership Academy at Bowling Green State University is a program that is
made up of a diverse group of the strongest students at BGSU, who all have a passion towards
helping others. The diversity of this group allows students in the PLA to reach all corners of the
University. This far reaching inclusivity makes a large universityfeel more like home and a close
knit community. The scholars in the PLA program also show strong leadership abilities and a
drive to create a better place for everyone at BGSU and beyond. Through their leadership skills
and their drive to help others PLA scholars make BGSU the home away from home for everyone.
I am interested in being a PLA scholar because I have a devotion towards working with other
people. My first job, at the age of 14, was working in a retirement home. I worked there for over
two years serving the residents in their dining hall, I was made a shift leader just six months into
my employment. My favorite part of the job was making the men and women living in the
retirement home smile. Another interest I have is stepping up and volunteering, I have volunteered
with the theatre department at my high school the most. We have a number of service projects,
including serving at soup kitchens, and stocking personal hygiene items at shower houses in the
greater Cincinnati area. My favorite role to be in, in any aspect of my life is as a leader. This is

10. Analysis Of Harper Lee s Kill A Mocking Bird
Essay Rough Draft When people think about the Southern United states during the twentieth
century they often think about the racism and prejudice that engulfed it. However, it is
important to realize that this intolerance and hatred was perpetuated not by the majority of
people, but by a loud spoken and violent minority. This concept is one of considerable emphasis
in To Kill a Mocking Bird and comparably in contemporary issues unfolding right now in Syria
and Afghanistan, whereby the masses stand idle, in morbid fear of a radical minority. The same
concept applies to Harper Lee s novel, for every character who demonstrates prejudice, keeping
people outside the community, there is another character, if not more, who act as community
builders. The conflict between Bob Ewell and Atticus, Calpurnia, and even women and children
in general, all demonstrate how the matter of prejudice and racism was one of stark division at
the time. While many characters demonstrate prejudice in the novel, Calpurnia is a significant
example of someone who acted as a community builder. When she took Jem and Scout to the
black church, on the outskirts of Maycomb, she did so in defiance of the practice of segregation
imposed by the Jim Crow laws. While most of the black peoplein attendance at the mass offered
the children signs of respect, [stepping] back and [taking] off their hats (Lee 157), Lula, an
acquaintance of Calpurnia, questioned her defiance and asked Calpurnia why she was

11. Comparing Dreams In To Kill A Mockingbird And A Raisin In...
Dreams are figments of our imagination, but when you re in a dream it can feel so real.
Personally, I have awoken to high hopes I was in the Bahamas or a million dollar mansion, but I m
not. Dreams are just thoughts that can motivate us to be better. In the novels, To Kill a
Mockingbird and A Raisin in the Sun, as well as the film/documentary American Denial, treatment
of dreams can be synthesized to motivate people to become better, stronger, and wiser.
The first example, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is about a family in a small town in
Alabama during the Great Depression. In To Kill a Mockingbird, everyone has dreams they aspire
to. A few examples are: Scout, she dreams about meeting Boo and befriending him, the black

Also, A Raisin in the Sun is titled from the poem Harlem, a DreamDeferred by Langston Hughes,
so obviously it has themes of dreams scattered throughout the book. The line is Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun? (Hughes 2). One of the main characters, Walter, has big dreams of getting
rich and letting his son do whatever he pleases. To pursue this dream he decides to invest a lot of
money in a liquor store that was just a front for his friend to get more money. The money was
lost because Walter couldn t see through the scam and he was blinded by his dream. Although
he doesn t show a similar passion for his sister Beneatha, who wants to become a doctor. He says
in the story, Who the hell told you you had to be a doctor?... go be a nurse like other woman or
just get married and be quiet. (Hansberry 38). Part of the money he gave away was her college
fund, which wasn t his to give. Even though it is a bold dream in this time, her dream of helping
people was, as Joseph her boyfriend said, very dependent on having lots of other things happen.
But that didn t stop her from chasing her dream of studying to become a doctor. Yet another
character that is affected by their dreams is Mama or Lena. She always has been a big dreamer, in
fact in the book it says, ever since I was a little girl, I always I always remembers people saying,

12. The Controversial Validity And Enforceability Of Letter Of...
1.The controversial validity and enforceability of Letter of Indemnity The use of LOI can lead
to different effects and especially because of the question of the Validity and the enforceability
of this mechanism. According to Professor Tetley, a LOI used against clean B/L are usually the
central document to a fraud or an accessory of fraud , and P I Clubs agreed but decided to go
deeper by stipulating a general rule that leads to a deny of insurance cover in case of the use of a
LOI against clean B/L, delivery of cargo at a different port or against non production of a B/L .
Indeed, whereas for the last LOI, the Court estimates that the LOI is fraudulent (because of a
false misrepresentation of a material fact ), for the first one, the Court can considered it as
fraudulent, especially in absence of guarantee because it imposes an important responsibility on
the carrier. According to JP Mattout, LOIs have been the practical way chosen by the parties
even if they are far from being the perfect solution . Indeed, the United Kingdom remains a
Common Law country, in which there is not a general principle of good faith in contract, even if
the principle of equity could be another solution. That is why; the Courts and English law
generally reject the use of a LOI, the Court will not help and support an illegal act and an
intentional breach of contract from the parties . The most relevant illustration of a condemnation of
this practice is the Brown Jenkinson Co. Ltd v

Adder Hernandez OSHT 1405 OSHA REGULATIONS Old Electrical Wiring Safety According to
the National Fire Protection Association, there is a yearly average of 24,000 home fires attributed
to electrical or lighting equipment, causing more than 800 injuries, 300 deaths and $700 million in
property damage. Although electricity in residential homes first began in the later part of the 19th
century for the wealthier, by the beginning of the 20th century, electricity in the home was
becoming available and more affordable to many people, especially those who lived in urban areas.
With over a century of residential electricity in many cities and towns, the aging of the residential
electrical systems is beginning to raise concerns within the electrical and firefighting departments.
Apart from the natural effects that age can have on wire insulation and electrical equipment over

In Canto IIV, Plutus, a raging god of wealth blocks Dante from entering the fourth circle. With the
intervention of Virgil, they are able to pass through. In the circle, Virgil explains to Dante that the
one with the ability to rule who is to be rich and who is to be poor is only fortune. Human beings
are portrayed as people who waste their lives while fighting for wealth and they end blaming
fortune instead of glorifying her (Jaffe, Valerie and Selens 14). It seems that fortune is not
bothered by criticisms from the humans, but instead she enjoys doing what she does best. Dante
has borrowed several characters to be able to explain the role of fortune in Canto IIV. Such
include hoarders who he describes as people who accumulate wealth for themselves. Poetically, he
describes them as people with no hairs covering their heads. In religion, these people are the
cardinals and the pope. He also describes the wasters as those people who spend or misuse all the
wealth that they have. Poetically, he describes them as those who have risen from the tombs with
their hairs cut short.
Fate can largely affect the conscious mind. Some fates can be unpleasurable and very painful for
the human mind to comprehend. Human beings reactions are different in this case and often some
end up living their lives and doing things unconsciously. Others will repress those bad memories
by trying to live in the unconscious world. The outcome of this repression is often very different

15. The Drilling Of Fshore Drilling Industry
The offshore drilling industry can be split into 5 key markets: upgrade market, contract drilling
market, second hand market, scrap market and contract drilling market. Among them contract
drilling market is most important, because it ensures smooth cash flow between markets. drilling
units is summarised in the table below.
The table above describes cash flow within offshore drilling markets. Contract drilling market
leases drilling units to O G companies to drill or service wells, in turn they receive day rates.
The day rate is the daily price to lease a rig and includes the use of the rig and its crew but does
not include most of the other costs associated with drilling and completing a well (e.g., casing,
drilling fluids, logistics, well evaluation, etc.). The drilling service industry is the largest and most
closely followed of the five markets and drives the activities of investors in the other markets.
The new build market uses shipyard labour and capital to convert steel and third party equipment
into rigs. Drilling contractors enter into turnkey contracts with shipyards for the construction and
delivery of one or more rigs, or yards may build on speculation. The new build market is primarily
Asian with major shipyards in Singapore, South Korea, and China.

doesnВґt understand that as an adult, most innocent people stay innocent and he is just
judgemental of all the people around him. Salinger suggests that in order to transition to the adult

In his mind, his brother was totally innocent and could do no wrong. Typically when someone

Not everyone is perfect, but he regards them as so wanting them to stay that way. In another
way, Holden is calling everyone that is insincere that are more interested in playing a part than
being themselves a phony. It starts with Ossenburger, a man who donated money to the school

21. Identity Essay
Rough Draft Identity is what defines us as a person. Everyone one on earth has their own unique
identity. To showcase my identity, I created a collage of images and descriptive words, called an
identi kit. This identi kit shows what I feel like is my identity to myself and the others. My identi
kit identifies me as a mixed martial artist. The identi kit has images of a deadly shark with mixed
martial arts gloves on that say mixed martial arts on the front and fight shorts with the words
competitor and warrior on them. It also has descriptive words like killer instinct and fight which
describe my spirit. There are three assumptions that come to question when asking about one s
identity. The first is if you were born with this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two that are my favorite have the words Warrior and Competitor on them. These words were
chosen to reflect my identity as a competitor and a warrior when it comes to mixed martial arts
and life in general. One image on the identi kit shows the word Hayabusa which is the fastest
falcon in the world. To me hayabusa means to be fast and quick but do not hurry. The Hayabusa
is the fastest bird in the world that is fast and quick but does not screw up. My life revolves
around working fast and quick but not to mess up at the same time. The images and phrases put
together on the identi kit help others to identify me because they are all very descriptive and
imaginative. The identi kit forms my identity to other people because to train and compete in
mixed martial arts you have to be much disciplined, self motivated, and have the killer instinct to
go and fight with another human being. I was born with my identity and at the same time
influenced and made the choice to do what I do. My identity was created by all three
assumptions of identity while with others it could be just one or two assumptions that made who
they are. I was born with me living my life in the fast lane. I have to keep on moving and
trucking without ever stopping. I was born with my killer instinct and passion for competition. My
involvement in mixed martial arts was influenced and a choice. Everyone has their niche in life.

23. The Effects Of ImmigrantsAgquisition Of English As A...
Sociologists typically assume that immigrants acquisition of English as a second language follows
the opportunities and motivations to become proficient in English, while many linguists argue that
second language acquisition may be governed by maturational constraints, possibly biologically
based, that are tied to the age at onset of language learning. In this article, I use U.S. census data to
investigate the relationship between age at onset of second language learning and levels of English
language proficiency among foreign born adults in the United States. The overarching conclusion is
that proficiency in a second language among adults is strongly related to age at immigration. Part of
that relationship is attributable to social and demo graphic considerations tied to age at entry into a
new country, and part may be attributable to maturational constraints.( Age at immigration
acquisition of language, English as second language, second language proficiency)* When
investigating second language (L2) acquisition among immigrants, sociologists and economists
often rely on exposure or human capital frame works, in which L2 learning is prompted by
opportunities and motivations to become proficient in English. Much of this research shows that
social and demo graphic factors, such as length of residence in the U.S. and educational attainment,
strongly predict levels of proficiency in English among foreign born adults. Linguists, by contrast,

24. Similarities And Differences Between The Scottish And...
Even though there are many similarities between the Scottish and Irish cultures, there are also
many differences. For one, the Scottish have trouble defining what Scottish culture is, this is
because they joined the UK at a very early time. Because of this, much of Scottish culture has
joined together with English culture. This could be seen when we were walking around Glasgow
and saw many English Art and sculptures, as well as walking around the Holyrood house in
Edenborough. And now that Scotlandmay break away from England, the people cling to fantasy
and mystery, as well as their own accomplishments to create and define Scottish culture. In
Glasgow, the Peoples Palace displayed many accomplishments of the cities people, all stating that
they were the first to invent this and the first to do that. Instead of looking back, the city showed
how it was progressive and urged its people to move forward. In Edenborough, the tour guide
talked about how they were the first to invent skyscrapers and other architecture. Instead of talking
about how the country moved forward as a whole, each city talked about how they moved forward
and the people in it. Scotland has also clung to many mythological and fantasy ideals. For one, the
national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn, which is a mythological creature. Also, during the ghost
tour I took around Edenborough, the Scottish believe that they invented Halloween and the city is
filled with ghost stories. Even in the north, Loch

Early Catholics didn?t believe that the soul entered the fetus until later, 40 days for boys and 90
days for girls. Only in 1869 did the Catholic Church declare that the soul entered the fetus at
conception, therefore rendering abortion murder. Until the second half of the nineteenth century,
the English Common Law was that abortions were permitted until the quickening, that is until the
baby started moving. After that, with the new advances in the medicine field we came to
understand more what happens to a woman?s body during pregnancy and abortions. The abortion
laws were made to protect the women from uncertified abortionists. There is one remarkable legal
battle that changed the American abortion laws to what they are now, Roe v. Wade. It took place in
1973 in Texas. Roe, Norma McCorvey, was an anonymous plaintiff against the State. The ruling,
abortion is legal. It gives the mother the right of whether or not to terminated her pregnancy.
However, that does not give the woman the right to terminate her pregnancy for any reason during

at which it first becomes realistically possible for a fetus to live outside the woman?s body. At that

Love is a strong and lasting affection between spouses or lovers who are in a happy passionate and
fulfilling relationship. Love is portrayed differently in various texts and media. Love can be

viewed differently by various people. Lovewill always have a heavy emotional impact whether it is

People who experienced love in different ways express their emotions differently. In the text, To
My Dear Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet, the poem ties up to the idea of how love can be
viewed as worth overcoming physical boundaries more than any worldly riches. The narrator
discusses how much her husband means to her. She states that even the world s richest and the

People soon began to follow him more willingly, joining his Nazi party and increasing it

Ethnic penalty basically describe poorer results for ethnic or racial minoritygroups in far as the

The basic meaning of an ethnic penalty is the myriad disadvantages experienced by ethnic minority
groups in the labor market in comparison to non ethnic minorities of equal human capital. As
already noted, this is expressed in terms of poorer results for the minority groups in far as the rates
of employment, rates of pay, and the job levels attained by individual employees (Platt, 2002, p.
118). Hopkins offers a similar definition, noting that ethnic penalty represent the differences
observed between the employment outcomes for ethnic minorities and their non minority
counterparts based on the human capital of each group. In a well functioning or fair labor market,
variations in individuals employment success are generally considered to arise from the human
capital differences of the individuals, that is, their skills as well as knowledge pertinent to the
specific labor market. Contrastingly, unfair labor markets may be characterized by ethnic penalty,
which depict such factors as groups cultural attributes that impact their labor market performance,
systematic variances in the economic prospects in the areas in which various ethnic groups reside,

from the charity, highlighted the difficulty of Christians situation in the country by saying Vietnam
ranks 20th on the World Watch List, Premier details. You are seen as an enemy of the state, it s a
Communist country, where they often see Christians as spies for the West, said Corbett. It ll
highlight that there are restrictions on religious freedom in Vietnam and that by raising awareness
of that and by highlighting that issue more pressure will be brought to bear on the authorities there
to allow people greater freedom. During the visit, Obama called on the Vietnamese government to

44. Henry Johnson s Life And Accomplishments
The medal of honor recipient that I am writing about is Henry Johnson. His military rank was
private and his service was in World War I in the U.S. Army. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia
and received his Medal of Honor in 1918. In the army, Johnson risked his life beyond the call of
duty. He served as a member of Company C, the 369th Infantry Regiment, the 93d Infantry
Division, and the American Expeditionary Forces. On May 15, 1918, he did combat operations
against the enemy on the front of the lines of the Western Front in France. Private Johnson and
some other soldiers one day woke up early in the morning to go on sentry duty at the forward
outpost then they received surprise attacks from at least twelve German soldiers. When Johnson

45. Mental Healthcare in America
Mental Health Care and the American Social System
American history is littered with tails of reform and revolution. Earlier on in America s young life,
revolution included war, struggle for basic human rights and dignity as well as radical tactics taken
by the public. As time went on Americans learned that revolution and reform could occur through
the government systems that our forefathers had put in place. The battle for human rights has all
but ended but the way in which Americans wage war is a different story altogether. Now American
s fight for better public healthcare, equal rights for homosexual individuals and couples, and stricter
standards for social welfare programs.
One of the societal problems that has overcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With her endless efforts, Dorothea Dix succeeded in helping create a congressional bill regarding
the government s role in mental health care. Unfortunately after the bill had been passed by both
houses, President Franklin Pierce vetoed the proposal. Even though Ms. Dix did not see the bill
she created become law, she did manage to create 32 hospitals for the mentally ill and
approximately 15 schools for the mentally handicapped and blind (Marshall, 1937). Dorothea also
helped establish several training facilities for nurses and established libraries in numerous prisons
across the nation. Though Dorothea Dix was considered to be ahead of her time, the efforts she
made and her accomplishments were key in establishing a better mental health care system in
America.
Another great advocate for the mentally ill in America was a man named Clifford Beers. This Yale
graduate and business man was subjected, firsthand, to the torturous treatment utilized by metal
health care facilities in America when he suffered a psychological breakdown in 1900. After years
of degradation, Mr. Beers made it his mission to expose the atrocities being committed through the
publication of an autobiography called A Mind That Found Itself. (Shern, 2009) Beers went on to
found the Connecticut Society for Mental Hygiene to

46. Personal Price That The Tree Has Nothing Wrong With It Are...
IP 2 Development Reason 1
Individuals have to pay a personal price when they decide to strength and serve their own
individuality.
Two Part Pear Able
And someone says how horrible... there will be revulsion won t there?... demand for expulsion.. (
Swenson 88 97).
The non pear tree represents the individual in this part of the poem.
The tree has nothing wrong with it, infact its only difference is that it has no pears.
It is fairly tall tree sturdy, capable looking... exceptionally pleasing, ( Swenson 9 14).
Because the tree is different from its surroundings, it is faced with discrimination and judgement.
When a person is judged as different and described as horrible just because of the way they look,
The personal price that the tree pays is that it more prone and open to the judgement of those who
are conformists.

Malala reflects upon the personal choice that she made to stand up for her human rights,

There are many difference between the therapeutic techniques for children or adolescents and the
techniques used for adults; yet, there are also many similarities. These techniques have to be
understood in order to better assist those individuals in need. Interpersonal Therapy for Adolescents
(IPT A) is one technique that is used for children. IPT A is a brief treatment that targets several
interpersonal problems that often underlie depression. It incorporates cognitive and behavioral
techniques to help the child retain his or her behavior and activity. This technique also helps the
child to develop self reinforcement patterns. This technique can be used in a group or individual
setting. Psychotherapies for children has shown improvement

Comparing Pluralist and Ruling Elite Accounts of Political Power in the U.K. and U.S.
Whilst there are not any absolutely accurate interpretations of political power and political system,
there are different controversial theories about those, among which, pluralist and ruling elite are the
two fundamentally outstanding theories that both have echoing practical influences in the modern
world of politics nowadays. In this essay, I shall try to attempt to briefly explain the two theories,
going further on from this, to mainly compare and contrast these theories, especially taking into
account the political power in the UK and US where modern democratic societies are claimed to
exist and government is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrasting with pluralism, the theory of ruling elite suggests that government can and should be
controlled by a small elite, as mobilising and communicating within a small group is far simplier
and easier than that of the mass body. It can be seen as a minority which governs in its own interest
and is unaccountable to the majority. It is defined by the possession of three characteristics:
consciousness, coherence and conspiracy. Consciousness refers to the awareness of common
interests, coherence means that it shares a common interest and conspiracy describes the capacity
to act collectively. Ancient Greek philosopher Plato (427 347 BC.) argued that an intelligent elite,
whom he styled Philosoher Kings , should government. In addition, the elitists shared a common
sceptical view that democratic government is impossible and might be undesirable. They do not
believe many interests are represented as political institutions rarely serve their formally stated
purposes and instead represent whom they wish.
Today there are pluralist influences as well as pluralist essences in both the US and UK politics.
They both have social pluralism, according to sheer sizes of their citizens with different interests,
ethnics or religions; this also prevents everyone from taking part in the government and instead,

49. Sociological Imagination Essay
From The Sociological Imagination by C. Wright Mills addresses a distinction between personal
troubles and public issues. Mills uses specific examples like unemployment and societal
development. Mills explains the ability to connect the individual problems with societal problems.
Throughout the text, we can see how Mills uses the perspective of an individual to explain the
perspective of society and vice versa. Using sociological imagination, I will explain how education
is influenced by society and history, and how there is positive and negative lessons to be taken out
of The Sociological Imagination. In the text (From The Sociological Imagination), Mills uses
sociological imagination to discuss the differences between personal... Show more content on

For myself and most people in Canadian society, education is a major part of our lives. Most
people will spend at least a quarter of their lives in the educational system. Using the school
system as an example, in my experience knowing people that have failed a subject, it was due to
the fact they didn t study or do the work which put them at a disadvantage compared to the other
students in the grade, but there could be social, economic, or historical reasons which lead to
you doing those things. If you come from a poor family, for example, you might need to spend
so much time working that you do not have time to study. A societal issue of this would involve
in the whole grade failing this course. If this happens, then the solution would not be an individual
one, rather the solution would be the school system taking a look into this and making any
required changes to the course. A reason for this many students failing could be that the students
were not given the resources necessary to succeed. Potentially the school did not have the funding
to teach a course properly. This societal issue could result in many students not move further in
their education which puts them at a disadvantage. This then can cause long lasting historical
problems as it becomes a vicious cycle. A person comes from a poor family and goes to a bad
school, they then do badly in school and either don t complete it or move on

52. Good And Evil In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
It is an important life question that everyone has asked throughout humanity: are human born
good or evil? It has been repeatedly asked and for years people have debated whether we have a
good nature or an evil one. In my opinion, I believe human nature causes people to be bad and
require the need to be controlled. This question can be seen in William Golding s Lord of the Flies
and it can be speculated that Golding viewed human nature as an evilone. Throughout the book and
humanity, there are several clues that can lead us to the answer. It is evident in every part of the
world; there is evil. From the six million Jews that have been executed in World War II, to the
thousands of African people used as slaves, and to every schoolyard bully.... Show more content on

In our society, people at a young age are taught and forced to be good to one another. As you can
see babies and younger children are self centered and misbehave frequently. Kids often believe
things must go their way and can be cruel bullies to one another. During kindergarten and early
years of elementary school, children can be seen fighting for toys. However, our teachers and
parents taught us that if we misbehave, we will be punished. If we were naturally born good,
wouldn t we be able to act good naturally? In Lord of the flies, the boys arrived on the island well
behaved and stated they will survive because they are English. However, their set of rules were
not obeyed and slowly the boys stopped following the laws of civilization. The boys ranged from
ages 5 to 12 years old, thus the younger children were easily capable of becoming savage as they
were not taught how to be courteous. As well, the younger boys did not know what they were
doing was wrong. The children were exposed to violent manners from the older boys and quickly
developed to behave like them. As evident in the final scene of Lord of the Flies, one of the littlun
had forgotten their name because they were not being identify as anything but littlun . For this
reason, without the exposure of discipline on people who misbehave, it is easy for vulnerable
children, like the littluns, to potentially become

53. Brain Perfusion Visual Analysis
1.3.3 Image analysis The analysis of brain perfusion SPECT images is primarily visual. The
visual analysis is based on a flexible and comprehensive qualitative evaluation of the image, and
even more importantly, it includes the reader s medical judgment and the particular diagnostic
question in each patient [Refs]. The visual analysis also helps to prevent misinterpretation when
there are technical artifacts present in the image. However, the visual analysis is susceptible to
inter reader variability, especially in cases where CBF alterations may be subtle. This is one of the
reasons for the need for quantitative methods of image analysis. Furthermore, quantitative methods
are particularly useful in research, and make it easier, for example, to study associations with
clinical variables of interest in a particular disease. One of the quantitative methods used for years
in brain perfusion SPECT has been the method based on regions of interest (ROI). The method has
evolved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the relationship between brain regions (i.e. connectivity) is not considered in the
analysis, thus ignoring important features of the complex network that is the brain [Refs]. In
recent years methods have been developed to study brain connectivity using neuroimaging
[Refs], one of which is based on graph theory that can be applied to brain perfusion SPECT data
(it is described below). The quantitative methods explained so far quantify the CBF (in one way
or another) but in relative units, which implies that the regional CBF values are relative to the
number of counts corresponding to a reference value. The reference value may be the mean value
of a specific brain region (e.g., the cerebellum) or the whole brain. The reference value should not
be affected by the pathology under study, so that the regional relative CBF values are due to the
effect of the disease in the patient and not to the reference
