This study examined how body composition, size, and age affect glucose regulation in fasting individuals. Blood glucose levels were measured for three subjects at intervals over 120 minutes. Subject 1 and the experimental subject had similar glucose levels initially, but Subject 1 did not regulate glucose as well later on. Subject 2 had high glucose at all readings, indicating poor regulation, and was the oldest with the highest BMI and waist-to-hip ratio. The results suggest body composition plays an important role in how well the body regulates glucose levels during fasting.

Also the Catholic Church did not agree with the pill. This stopped many religious people from using
this form of contraception. The Doctor Case Against The Pill by Barbara Seaman outlined the
problems with the pill and the amount of hormones found in it that were unnecessary. This scared

common form of birth control used.

emphasis on humans ability to change their situation for the better. By stressing that individuals could

4. The Development of Christianity in America
As Christianity spread through the Western world, it rarely followed a linear path: different pockets of
faith and doctrine were developed by a variety of peoples in an even greater variety of locales.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Roman Britain and the era of Anglo Saxon migrations. In five
centuries, English religious culture transformed from one of pagan worship to that of leadership in the
Christian world. Controversies included more than merely pagan Christian dynamics; the Christians
were greatly divided, and Christian efforts went through many ebbs before becoming firmly
established. One must evaluate the development of both Rome and England to gain an adequate
understanding of early English Christianity. Fifty five years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Christianity gained a foothold in Britain by the mid second century, but had yet to gain anything
approaching religious supremacy on the island. Early Christian churches were local communal affairs
each board of elders was elected democratically by the community s inhabitants. Early Christians
refused to bow before Roman authority as the Jews had previously done, and many were persecuted as
enemies of the state (quite similar to the Druidic situation in Britain). Rome would tolerate native
religious rites, but would brook no treason. The universality of the empire, however, paved the way
for the universality of Christianity, as Christian missionaries traveled easily along Roman roads on
evangelistic expeditions. As Christianity spread throughout the empire, the Roman government found
Christian refusals to worship Roman gods and participate in Roman festivals increasingly distressing;
Christians endured persecution in the first and second centuries, but on an individualized, local scale.
The third century proved disastrous to the empire: an outbreak of the plague, increasing barbaric
invasions from the north, and fifty years of relentless civil war tarnished the image and reputation of
Rome. Manpower shortages due to plague sharply decreased trade and commerce. Persians

5. Taking a Look at Shyness
Have you felt awkward, worried or even tense during social encounters? Do you feel these emotions
around people you are unfamiliar with? If so, you have probably encountered what it feels like to be
shy. Some will occasionally feel shy and others may be severely shy when interacting with others, in
which they can feel themselves start to blush, sweat, and have an upset stomach. The person may also
begin to feel a sense of negativity about them or even become withdrawn from interacting with others
( American Psychological Association ). Interacting with others on a day to day basis is life, and the
shyer the person is, the more inhibited and reluctant they are to approach others. Shyness can be
defined as the discomfort or inhibition in situations that can interfere with pursuing a person s
interpersonal or professional goals. The feeling of shyness can be generated by a wide variety of cues
such as one on one opposite sex interactions, intimacy, unfamiliarity of others, and having to take
individual action in groups (Henderson Zimbardo, 2008). Reacting to new and unfamiliar situations
can bring out shy feelings, a new job, and public speaking at an assembly or for a class, dating
someone new or the first day of school are situations in which a person could feel shy. The greater the
feeling of not knowing how to react or what to say will result in a greater feeling of shyness. Those
who know what to expect in situations and are sure of what to say are less likely to feel

6. Differences Between American Culture And German Culture
Germany is country shaped by many instances of disorder and chaos throughout its existence and
especially in the 20th century. During these chaotic times Germans came to realize that the only way
to prevent disorder and chaos was Ordnung or order. This philosophy of Ordnung is fundamentally
different than the culture in the United States in which the people are trusted to do the right things
rather than being forced by a set of written and unwritten rules that regulate social behavior. There are
three significant differences between American culture and German culture: rules and regulations, the
bureaucracy, and categorization. These differences help explain why German and American culture
are so different. The first and most important cultural difference between Americans and Germans is
the issue of self control and regulations. Many Americans are impulsive and make decisions without
much thought behind their actions. Germans, as opposed to Americans, are much less susceptible for
impulsive actions because in Germany there are significantly more rules and social norms for
Germans to follow which are part of Ordnung. The reason why Germans have more social norms and
rules than Americans is to prevent misunderstandings that may be taken as disrespect. Germans feel
comfortable with these kinds of rules, which give them a feeling of security as well as a strong sense
of right and wrong (Nees 39). The amount of rules and regulations that are in Germany might make an

7. Analysis Of Henrik Ibsen s Ibsen
Henrik Ibsen is a very common and almost an essential person if you where to judge him by his plays.
Ibsen plays are a symbolic representation of how to deal with the reality of social issues. Social issues
can be manipulated and used as a powerful political weapon. During this period writers would
commonly form information in order to gain the attention and support of the public. Henrik Ibsen
understood human nature, he played a crucial role in exploring and illuminating society by uniting
honesty and the reality of life, through his work. Writing as a psychologist, Ibsen could quickly sway
others when it came to understanding his creative work. His relationship with human life formed an
intense social and abstract perspective, which is the essence of art. Ibsen s work as a writer mainly
symbolized a long writing style that reflection on people s need to live in a more advance mental way.
Ibsen wrote about the contradiction between ability and the aspiration between will and possibility.
Ibsen commonly uses a great deal of desperation in his work. Within the darkness of his work the
conflict mainly surrounded humanity and the individual tragedy of one s true self. Ibsen would use
symbols that represented how the social issues within his work would be part of reality. His plays
allowed a combination of the feminist social issues and reality. The subjects were expressed in both

8. Political Systems Thematic Essay
History and culture of many nations and societies have been affected by political systems. In the
1600s 1700s two political systems, absolute monarchy of France and the constitutional monarchy of
England, have affected Europe. Absolute monarchy is when a ruler rules with absolute, or total, power.
A constitutional monarchy is when laws limit the power of the monarch so they cannot rule absolutely.
These two political systems affected not only their own country, but the whole of Europe as well.
Mainly under the influences of the two leaders Louis XIV, Charles II, James II, Prince William, and
Queen Mary.
One of the most known rulers that ruled with absolute power in France was Louis XIV. Louis ruled for
many years and was considered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jean Baptiste Colbert, the minister of finance, helped Louis the most in achieving these goals. He
expanded manufacturing, placed high tariffs on imported goods, encouraged people to move to
colonies, and supported mercantilism. After Colbert s death, Louis created a policy which slowed
down France s economic progress. He also cancelled the Edict of Nantes, which protected the
religious freedom of Huguenots. When Louis got rid of the Edict of Nantes, it caused many Huguenot
artisans and business people to flee the country, leaving France without many skilled workers.Another
thing that Louis did was build the palace of Versailles, a huge palace that stretched for 500 yards.
Louis also forced his country to fight several wars, considering France had an army other countries
could not even match. The other countries were eventually able to join forces and match France s
strength, in which Louis began to impose more taxes to pay for army finances. When Louis eventually
died, he left behind a legacy yet he also left behind many debts and a ruined France. Although France
was now a power to be reckoned with, the debts and bad harvests had an affect on the people and they
had resentment because of the royal abuse they took.
One could define a constitutional (limited) monarchy as a rule when the King or Queen s power was
limited by law, document, and legislature. One could also characterize a limited monarchy as when the

Antitrust laws are a collection of laws and regulations, put into place over time, to help govern the
competiveness of large corporations. Enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust
Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ( Antitrust Laws, 2003), the laws help regulate
ethical behavior between businesses to ensure that smaller businesses can compete with the bigger
name corporations. Mergers and monopolies come into play and greatly affect how these businesses
run. This paper will look at two different instances of possible violated laws and discuss the specifics.
The first case deals with a pharmaceutical company, the second two telecommunications companies.
One question being answered for both examples is what kind of ethical dilemmas are present. Read on
as the cases are examined. Federal antitrust enforcers are investigating whether a multinational
pharmaceutical company has attempted to minimize the impact of generic competition to one of its
most profitable prescription drugs. This antidepressant drug is the company s best seller, with sales
last year of $2.11 billion, representing a 22% increase from the year before. The Federal Trade

activities to prevent generic alternatives to the prescription drug from entering the market.
Specifically, the FTC is challenging a practice among brand name and generic drug manufacturers to

undoubtedly attempts to force an emotional connection to his reader in the first chapter of his 1980

Europe was unremittingly asperous toward the rest of the world, particularly in the Americas in the

finally replaced worldwide by the cheap electronic calculator. (The Inventions, pg.10) In 1945, the

A General Overview of Ecstasy 3,4 Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, better known by its street
name, ecstasy or molly, is a type of illegal, synthetic drug that is typically found in the form of pills,

Among the ages ranging from 18 to 25, about 25 percent of them have admitted they have used the
drug at least once in their lifetime (Lesley, W. R. et al., 2007). These drugs are typically used at
nightclubs and raves, but recently, due to its popularity, it can be more commonly found in homes for

more negative outcomes than positive. Over time its positive effects have been proven wrong, and
many negative psychological effects on the human mind and body have emerged. For example,

15. Summary Of Slavery In The Comedy Of Errors
In The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare adds a frame story. Egeon plays the doting father of the lost
twins, only appearing in the first and final acts, but is incredibly important as a device to frame the
action of the play. Though the play is a comedy, Egeon grounds the action in tragedy. Subsequently,
because the conceit of the play is so complicated, Shakespeare has the characters speak to each other
in an indirect way, so they don t get to the heart of all the confusion until the play s resolution. Their
content is not often relevant to their conversation partner, but it s usually sharp and clever enough that
they could be thought to be punning or otherwise joking around. There s enough playfulness in what is
said, that the confused character often dismisses the confusing messages because of the light way in
which they re communicated. This veiled style of speaking allows the interactions to occur on
different levels, one of which makes sense to each conversation partner, even if it doesn t make for
coherent conversation. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare adds vital social commentary regarding
slavery. The rough treatment of the Dromios and their ambiguous servant/slave status reflect similar
features of Elizabethan servitude. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare constructs the Dromios so as
to condense the potential slavishness of sixteenth century English service. The play s focus on slavery
widens to encompass the institution of marriage and the individual s ordering

17. Essay about The NRA Killed Gun Control Legislation
The NRA Killed Gun Control Legislation
By the year 2003, it is expected that firearms will cause the most injury related deaths in the United
States, surpassing even automobile accidents. Poll after poll have revealed that most Americans favor
stricter gun control laws. Five recent suburban school shootings have demonstrated that when guns
and kids mix, tragedy results. Yet gun control legislation remains at a standstill.
The battle for stricter gun control laws has not been without victories. In 1968, Congress passed the
Gun Control Act in the wake of the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr., President John F.
Kennedy, and Senator Robert Kennedy. The law mandated stricter licensing requirements, prohibited

However, the thrill of the above victories could not prevent the agony of defeat that the country faced
between October 1997 and June 1998. There were five suburban school shootings in that time, in
Pearl Mississippi, West Paducah, Kentucky; Jonesboro, Arkansa;, Edinboro, Pennsylvania; and
Springfield, Oregon. This unspeakable violence left sixteen dead, including eleven children and
teenagers. The shooters ranged in age from 11 to 16 years old.
Although no one can explain the why of these tragedies, recent statistics give insight into the how : A
1990 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) survey found that one in twenty high school students had
carried a gun in the past month, while a 1994 Harris poll found that only one in five students would
tell a teacher if he or she knew that another student was bringing weapons to school. Where do these
kids get their guns? The Harris poll found that only 43% of parents of minors keep their guns safely
locked, which means that an estimated 1.2 million latchkey elementary school students can access the
guns kept in their houses. The consequences of the latter statistic were brutally obvious in Jonesboro,
when sixth grader Andrew Golden and eighth grader Mitchell Johnson opened fire on a crowd of
students with guns taken from a glass

Workshop 5
Circle three and a half Remorse, regret, guilt
In life these are the sinners who have no remorse for their actions, the punishment for the sinners lack
of emotion is the scorching of their hearts. Sinners are sent into wildfires to scorch their bodies, hearts,
and their souls, they receive this punishment because they commit all sins without care and after they
have done wrong they continue to live their lives without remorse or emotion to what they have
committed. They show no regret or remorse for those who have been deceived, tricked, robbed, or
cheated on. The wildfires burn the sinners hearts away since they don t need it in life. These sinners

Their hearts, souls and bodies are scorched to the very end, some sinners will burn more than others
because their empty inside with no realization for what they have committed. This punishment fits and
connects with the sin because the more the sinners commit, the less remorse they feel, resulting in
empty feelings which fuel the fire, causing them to feel more pain and more scorching when burned
by the wildfires. Specific sinners who will receive this punishment are, politicians who deceive their
voters, steal their money, bribe others and use these actions of fraud to get what they want, sinners
such as those from the republican party or those from the democratic party of US politicians use their
actions to deceive the people, to win, and in the end those politicians don t show any regret, remorse

Responsive chain as the company allows room for customization as well as flexibility to the changing
needs of their customers (Chase, Jacobs, amp; Aquilano, 2006, p.13). To manage ever changing needs
Riordan has implemented the use of an electronic information system; the ability to communicate
quickly, control costs, inventory levels, and efficiencies has further refined the supply process.
Riordan Manufacturing also uses measures to determine the efficacy of their supply chain. Those
measures come in the form of mathematical equations. The following are the formulas to indicate
efficacy (Chase, Jacobs, amp; Aquilano, 2006, p.418): 1. Shipping Cost Saving = air shipping cost
shipping costs by ship 2. Shipping Cost Savings = inventory carrying cost = item value X 0.30 X 6

turnover as well as weeks of supply. Excessive inventory ties up funds as well increases inventory

20. Parenting In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls s The...
Parenting is not one of the easiest jobs in the world to have; you either are responsible enough to
parent or you re not responsible enough. You have to be able to raise a child from birth and teach
he/she all the necessary tools to succeed in life. As said in The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Social
Work, Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and
intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood (245). All parents will raise their
children in different ways, whether they are very strict or they re lenient, others can be easy going and
strict depending on the situation and the way they group up will shape them into who they become as
adults as shown in The Glass Castle with Jeannette Walls and her parents.
In the memoir The Glass Castle written by Jeannette Walls, she writes about her childhood and how
she grew up with an alcoholic father, Rex, a careless and stubborn mother, Rose Mary, and her two
sisters, Lori and Maureen, and one brother, Brian. The way her parents raised them from letting them
do anything to sometime almost abandoning them is not what you would see in today s society that
often and the parent sno get in trouble for it. While reading The Glass Castle, noticing the reasoning
why the parents are so lenient, unless a choice could cause fatality, is because they have nothing to
lose, the only way their life could get any worse is if one of their children died. The children had to

21. The Death Of The Moth Annie Dillard Analysis
Annie Dillard s piece The Death of the Moth , is about Dillard being reminded of the death of a moth
she observes and how it relates to herself, this piece is a great depiction of the impact of life and death.
Dillard describes her surroundings living in a rural area and within her bathroom is a spider which
Dillard reminds of a moth that she killed in her past when she sees the web that the spider has spun
and how it has caught many bugs including two moths. She is intrigued by the dead moth s bodies and
givings a vivid description of the bodies While describing the moth s dead torn body she relates it to a
personal experience from her past where she watched a moth die with candle two years ago. Dillard

Knowing this, she takes her experience and uses it to write this piece and uses it to spread her message
and her feelings toward the topic.
Dillard uses descriptions of her experience to flow with the story using metaphors and other ways of
conveying her message about life and death. Through this she allowed us to peer into her life in that
moment and convey the feeling she felt indirectly through the descriptions. This makes the text
effective because it causes the reader to look at oneself about life and death and the other topics that
could come from the essay. This gives her credibility because she experienced it first hand (ethos,
pathos). Playing on your emotion from person experience with death. Making the text more effective.
To conclude, Annie Dillard s piece The Death of the Moth; is about Dillard being reminded of the
death of a moth she observes and how it relates to herself, this piece is a great depiction of the impact
of life and death. She talks about her personal experience in a tone that

Tetanus is a life threatening but preventable disease that is characterized by an acute onset of painful
muscular contractions (usually in a descending pattern, starting with trismus or lockjaw) and
generalized rigidity.1 It is caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a spore forming bacterium. The
spores can be found in soil, dust, and in human and animal feces, entering the body through breaks in
the skin and germinating under low oxygen conditions .1,2 The most successful intervention against
tetanus in history is its prevention by means of an effective vaccine which has led to a dramatic fall in
the incidence of tetanus.3
Tetanus occurs in all parts of the world most frequently in hot and wet climates where the soil contains
a lot of organic matter. Although rare in the United States (US), with an average of 29 reported cases
per year from 1996 through 2009, it has not been eradicated by vaccination programs.2 While early
diagnosis and intervention are lifesaving, prevention is the ultimate management strategy.4 According
to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), nearly all cases of tetanus are among people who have

Ungrateful father Being a father can be hard, and just like in Tiny, Smiling Daddy written by Mary,
Gaitskill it shows that the father was unable to learn from his father. Tiny, Smiling Daddy explains
what a father put his daughter through can be stressful, and especially because his daughter is gay. The
troubled, loathsome character of Tiny, Smiling Daddy is revealed through third person omniscient
point of view. Stew the father of Kitty is troubled from his past, creating issues as a father. Stew is

Stew overheard a conversation from his daughter saying, My mom s not only a bitch, she s stupid

they had (457). When stew would arrive home his wife would tell him stories like Kitty hasn t set the
table after being asked four times, Kitty has gone to her friends after school instead of coming straight
home, and Kitty has worn a dress to school that was short enough to show off her pantyhose (457).
This all added to how much Stew would loath his daughter for being a lesbian and now never listened.
Stew s loathing for his daughter was strong enough to the point where he punched Kitty and knocked
her down, because his wife threw stuff out that belonged to Kitty (458). The narrator says, then he
would remember that she was a lesbian, and a morass of complication and wrongness would come
down between them, making it impossible for him to see her (458). It always came back to his
daughter being a lesbian that forced him to loath Kitty more. Everything the Narrator is telling the

25. The nature of God and belief Essays
a) Christians believe many different things about God s nature; due to the huge spectrum of Christians
that there are. However, as a general rule they perceive God as being one of the following four things:
Personal where God is represented as a human being. Christians believe this because it means they can
directly relate to Him through one to one means. There are variations within this also: Some say that
this Personal God is one human being that is always there for everyone, others believe that He is a
different being for each person.
Impersonal an Impersonal view of God s perception is that God is some form of spirit or force, not
particularly there for you personally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way in which Christians are respectful to their holy book in everyday life is by following the
teachings that the Bible contains, practically a second law of how they should live (the political law
being the first).
Christians may also see a completely new dimension to the Bible; as a source of information. People
aren t truly Christians unless they believe in the faith for themselves and before they can do this, they
need to understand the faith they can find this out from the Bible.
Most believe that although a human wrote it, that the Bible is the words of God, and they therefore
must pay it the utmost respect. They see it as very special, and of more importance than any other
book.
The Bible is actively used in daily life as an ultimate symbol of power and importance, it is read from
at special occasions including weddings and funerals and in courts of law people must swear on the
Bible to tell the truth. This shows that the Bible is widely respected by Christians in daily life and by
non believers in certain ways too.
c) On the face of it; I would disagree that there is no evidence that God exists . My initial thoughts are
that there is evidence, in the form of millions of believers, history, scriptures and the overall legacy.
However, I believe it depends on what is meant by evidence : If it means something that proves that
God exists then the answer is an emphatic no, but if it is asking if there is anything to suggest

Now that you know which is more dense, what must be true of the particles that make it more dense?
Prior to completing this lab I believed the nail would be more dense than the stopper. After performing
the experiment, the iron nail contains more particles by volume than the rubber stopper does.
Part IV
10. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.699 g/cm3. Using this density and the masses
of your two samples of aluminum foil, calculate the volume of aluminum in each sample: the regular
vs. the heavy duty. (Note: You will have to use a bit of algebra and the formula D = m/v for this
calculation!) You must show all your work. (15 pts)
Regular Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.67g/volume
2.699 g/cm3 x 0.67g= volume
Volume= 1.81 cm3
27. Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.97g/volume
2.699g/cm3 x 0.97g=volume
Volume= 2.62 cm3
11. Using the volume(s) you just calculated for regular vs. heavy duty samples as well as your
dimensional measurements (length and width in cm) from Part IV of this experiment, calculate the
height, or thickness, of each sample of aluminum using the formula V = l x w x h. In the formula, V
stands for volume, l for length, w for width, and h for height. Once again, you will have to use your
algebraic skills to manipulate the formula, to solve for height. You must show all your work. (15 pts)

28. Costs And Benefits Of Public Expenditure Programs
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and discuss the underlying theme of
differences of opinion related perceptions of costs and benefits associated with public expenditure
programs. In this course, three of the lessons that were closely connected were cost benefit analysis,
public expenditures related to social insurance and income maintenance, and expenditure programs for
the poor. The goal of this analysis is to demonstrate how perceptions of costs and benefits for
expenditure programs is often based more on rhetoric than actual fact. This paper begins with a brief
review of the take away of the three lessons from which this analysis is based. Then, a full
examination of the relationship and issue of the perception of costs and benefits of public expenditure
programs is provided.
Cost Benefit Analysis The first lesson of importance related to this analysis was the lesson on cost
benefit analysis. On the surface, cost benefit analysis is supposed to be a truly objective analysis of the
costs associated with a particular project or program, and the benefits of that program (Driesen, 2005).
If the costs outweigh the benefits, then the project or program is not undertaken. However, if the
benefits outweigh the costs, regardless of what the perception might be about the project or program,
then it is pursued. The deeper issue that must be considered is whether cost benefit analysis is purely
an objective task that is based solely on fiscal

29. Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs
Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see
many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the years,
which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about them. In order
to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog itself, and how to
properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the breed is known to have
major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter lifespans compared to other dog
breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly.
Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This, in
the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones
and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural defect found in bulldogs, causes the legs in bulldogs to stop
or slow down and also makes their backs lengthen. One health ... Show more content on

When buying a bulldog, one has two options. One can buy a bulldog that has tons of medical issues at
a cheaper price, or one can buy a more expensive bulldog that has fewer medical issues. Even a cheap
bulldog can cost between 300 to 500 dollars, and that is just for the dog itself. A well bred bulldog
usually is priced from a range of 1,500 to 4,000 dollars. The better the breeder, the more expensive the
dog. On top of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because of all its health
issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means that the owner has to buy
special bulldog food to fit their needs. Bulldogs all have expensive and special needs, so the owners
themselves need to be responsible in order to properly take care of

30. Essay On The Frog And The Toad
I found excellence and flaws in the acting, technical elements, and even the playwright of the play The
Frog and the Toad. I was pleased with the message of the play and the overall performance of actors.
However, there were a few things that I felt could be improved on in future plays.
The performance of the snail in The Frog and the Toad play was the one I liked the most because the
actor was very convincing and seemed to suit his character perfectly. The snail was convincing
because he walked very slowly and had a squeaky voice, which are some characteristics that a snail
would be expected to have. He spoke and sang very clearly, which the voice he played the snail part in
fit the character very well. He connected with the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By the same token, I really liked how the costumes of Turtle and Snail were also distinct and had
unique characteristics of their real nature. For example, Turtle s costume included a large backpack on
the back of the actor, which to the audience, was perceived as a large shell. Snail s unique costume
included a rolled up sleeping bag strapped on his back, which to the audience, was perceived as a snail
shell.
However, some technical elements that I didn t like was the dark blue long fabric and the blue see
through long fabric used in the set when Frog and Toad are swimming in the pond and when Toad
looks for Frog on and island. These fabrics and the way they are handled look very tacky and poor
quality. It would have made it better if the fabric was not see through and if the people behind the
bushes or rocks that were moving the fabric, to make it appear as if the water were moving, moved the
long fabrics more fluently, and not in a jerky manner.
The set was changed very effectively throughout the play. I liked how every time the curtains were put
down, there was a either a solo or miniature performance in the front or just music to distract the
audience for a quick second while the set was being rearranged. I felt like that helped the play flow
because it didn t stop at every scene, distract the audience, and unengage them from the play. I liked

ENG.112.4401
26 September 2017
Textbooks should be replaced by Online Resources We live in the era of 21st century, and it is the time
to take the step in whole world with technological advances. Nowadays, most of the children love to
use the internet for many purposes, but still they carry heavy backpacks with lots of textbooks. There
are many reason for why textbooks should be replaced by today s latest technological tools. Textbooks
have become a burden for all students across the world. As technology advances, leaning styles have
become more technology dependent which makes the students more accustomed to technological
devices. Some schools have traditional thinking that textbooks are the only way to go perfectly, but on
the other hand online resources are more sensible alternative. School districts should replace textbooks
with online resources in order to reduce stress for the students, save the district resources, and endure
a longer period of time than textbooks. Although online resources can be frustrating and slow if it is
overloaded with applications, they are much easier to use for a student. Textbooks pressurize
considerable weight on a student s back; as a result, it leads to medical conditions such as scoliosis.
The most important reason for what young children have back pains is to carry heavy backpack with
heavy textbooks. As stated by Daily Herald, Kids who wear their backpacks over one shoulder as

Apple trees generally do not begin to blossom and bear fruit until they are 5 to 8 years old. They reach
maximum production at about age 20; commercial orchards are generally replaced when they reach 35
to 40 years in age. Although the trees would live longer, the fruit from old trees is generally smaller
and poorer in appearance and more expensive to care for. Apple trees can withstand temperatures as
low as 40 degrees C. Here in the United States apples mainly grow in Washington, Pennsylvania, New
York, Michigan and California. The trees need a period of cold or dormancy to grow and bear fruit
properly. So they cannot grow in tropic areas. Oranges on the other hand also were around in ancient
times. Some experts have proved that they date back as far as 4,000 years ago according to ancient
Chinese records. Oranges also come from the other side of the Atlantic. When Christopher Columbus
sailed for the New World, he carried with him seeds of oranges and other types of citrus fruits. The
seeds were planted on the island of Hispaniola. Just as the Europeans spread apple trees westward in
the United States by moving further that way. The Indians spread citrus trees beyond the Spanish
Plantations by dropping seeds from fruit they were eating. Soon groves were of wild citrus trees.

33. Intrusion Detection System ( Ids )
Abstract Increasing attacks and intrusion of the Internet and computer systems necessitate the need for
Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to prevent attacks. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to support
IDS. Fitness function and GA operators crossover, mutation, and population representation play an
important role in improving the performance of an IDS: high detection rate, and low false positive
rate. This paper suggests a Fitness Function using Reward Penalty technique that rewards the good
chromosome and penalizes the bad chromosome, for improved performance. We suggest that the GA
parameters be optimized for better IDS performance.
Keywords Intrusion detection; genetic algorithm; fitness function; detection rate; false positive rate.
I. INTRODUCTION
Intrusion can be defined as the actions that attempt to compromise the integrity, confidentiality, or
availability of a computer resource [1]. Intrusion Detection System is a software or device to discover
the intrusion activity. Based on detection process, IDS can be classified into two groups: Anomaly
detection, and misuse/signature detection. Anomaly detection looks for rare or unusual network
activities, while misuse/signature detection uses past well known attack patterns signature to identify
illegal activities. This paper deals with only misuse/signature detection in computer networks.
Network attack types can be categorized into the following groups:

Central Catholic school, Columbian Christian school, Jim Bridger school and David Douglas School.
So many different schools. How does a parent choose? Education is undoubtedly is an issue with
different opinions when deciding between private and public schools. Our country is a country of
contrasts, economically, socially and geographically. Education is the action or process of impacting
knowledge to another (Merriam Webster) with trained teachers, good books, updated technology and a
high quality curriculum. The public schools are institutions open to all kinds of students without
monthly payments. For example, children with low income recourses, children with special needs
(Handicapped, MR condition), aggressive behavior, learning disabilities and most of the times these
institutions accept children whose English is not their native language. Students wear civilian cloths
and they are not required to purchase any type of uniform. Most of the time parents do not have to pay
for meals provided in schools or pay for any extra class given by the school. However, several of the
schools ask the parents to buy school supplies with the purpose of having a productive school year.
Second, private schools are institutions which are managed with the money of those parents who can
afford the high cost of each month. Parents not only pay the high tuition fees but also should have to
