Culture Paper: South Korea
The Korean peninsula has been inhabited for roughly 40,000 years. Many significant events
throughout Korea s history have played important roles in shaping Korea s culture into what it is
today. The name Korea originally rooted from Koryo, which was the succeeding dynasty in 918 1392
after the Tongil Silla period (period in which the peninsula was unified). Korea was imposed by
Japanese colonial rule and finally liberated at the end of World War II in 1945. Following the end of
the war, Korea faced an internal battle, resulting in the division of the country into two parts: the
north, which is the People s Republic of Korea backed by powerful communist allies such as China
and Russia, and the south, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, jobs requiring a higher education degree and intensive training such as service providers
(doctors, nurses, teachers, therapists) are often very well respected and trusted as primary decision
makers. Lay people are expected to how respect with distinctively addressing elders and people of
higher status by their age/job titles, refraining form ever using personal names. This is exemplified
through important non verbal communication patterns such as bowing when greeting someone older
than you and holding an object with both hands when handing something over to an elder person
(Stone, 2005). Generally speaking, physical contact is often viewed as uncomfortable amongst
strangers, in contrast to other cultures where something as personal as cheek kissing is highly accepted
(Brones, 2008). In addition, Koreans consider direct eye contact impolite until a sense of comfort is
established between the involved parties. This is also applicable to the Chinese culture, the Korean
culture involves more direct means of greeting elders such as bowing as opposed to looking towards
the ground while formally shaking his/her hands (Guillain, 2008). Despite these subtle differences and
potential conflict of interest, the Chinese culture is

Gandhi Vs Mao
Through the twentieth Century, multiple leaders rose up to change society to what they believed was
better; two of these people were Mahatma Gandhi and Mao Zedong. They both changed their
countries socially, politically, and economically. Gandhi was a nonviolent leader of a revolution
against Great Britain s ownership of India, while Chairman Mao was a dictator and founder of the
People s Republic of China. Gandhi and Mao appear utterly opposite at first glance. However, there
are similarities that are uncovered as we investigate their beginnings, intentions, and dedication to
what they believed in. Mohandas Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October 2nd, 1869. His
family was rich enough to send him to a law school in London. After his education, he returned to
India to start a law practice. That law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, they both had the same passion to change their respective countries. Mahatma Gandhi and Mao
Zedong led revolutions against their governments. These two leaders organized millions to fight for
their cause. Next, both leaders sympathized with the poor and wanted their society to help those in
need. For example, Gandhi encouraged the poor to stand up to the British rule of India, and Mao killed
off the wealthy and intelligent to help the poor and uneducated. Chairman Mao and Gandhi held to
socialist views and wanted to get rid of all social classes. Also, they advocated equality for women,
which was uncommon in their time. Lastly, they both broke laws and risked their lives to create
change in their country. This can be seen in how Gandhi was known for peacefully refusing to follow
laws that discriminated against Indians, and Mao led an entire army against the Chinese government.
They both chose to fight for what they believed in rather than move away to a safer place or be

The Hobbit Songs
The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.(15) The Hobbit
by J.R.R. Tolkien is a tale comprised almost solely of mystique and heroics. One facet of this precious
story is given through song. The songs are meant to give a picture of the past and also to foreshadow
what is to come. In the case of the dwarf party, their songs spoke of a past event, the moving of a wind
over the land, and their triumphant return to the halls of their ancestors. Song singing is a great
medium for sharing information as well as feelings, and Tolkien used this medium well. First, the first
song we hear through the book is Misty Mountain and was sung by the dwarves pining for their
ancestral home. Thorin started the song and all joined in the retelling of their greatest defeat. They
sing of a return to their home and of the wondrous happenings that once occurred there. Smaug s
coming is the solemn climax of this sorrowful song. The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The
dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom. They fled their hall to dying fall Beneath his feet, beneath the
moon. (15) Grimly Misty Mountain sets up the book as a serious journey of a wronged people to
restore their honor and family. The song delves deeper into the dwarves character and shows the
determination to get justice and reclaim what is theirs, but in addition it shows them as a sophisticated
race that were once kings and craftsmen. Misty Mountain leaves you feeling haunted and in

The California Education System
California has had a long and controversial history in education. Some would argue that the State s
educational system is doing more harm than good. However, the problems that the State faces are in
the underlining of past and current issues. The major issues faced by the public education system
include the common core standards, poverty, and the decrease of funding.
Rethinking the common core standards. The common core is hailed as the next big thing in school

Every year the state of California faces a crisis in the name of budget cuts. As a result, the state is
producing less and less qualified teachers, by laying off great teachers, just before the tenor mark. So
they can hire less qualified teachers and pay them less in the name of saving money. Grades K 12
relies heavily on state aids. Since the beginning of the school year California as made widespread cuts
to the education system; which means that there is less money allocated per student. This means less
money for books, and new computers, but more money for our district offices. The big picture, the
educational system in California is failing our students. Given these points, among all of the chaos that

Impact of Tourism on Hawaii
The Environmental Impact of Tourism on Hawaii and its Natives
By: Rylee Blair
As skiers, hikers, sightseers, beachgoers and travelers pack their bags and head out for their vacations,
they probably never even consider that what they are about to embark upon happens to be the largest
industry in the world. Millions of people travel domestically and internationally each year to
experience places and things that are totally out of their ordinary lifestyle and to get their minds off the
hustle bustle of everyday life. Because of Hawaii s year round tropical climates, cultural experiences
and leisurely atmosphere, it is one of the world s most popular tourist destinations and attracts over 9
million visitors each year. Marine and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This kind of growth doesn t happen without displacing land, people, animals, etc. Land based
resources, people s culture and historical symbols are often the victims of tourism development in
Hawaii. Many of the major resorts have been built on culturally significant sites. Construction of
tourist related businesses have played a huge part in the destruction of ancient Hawaiian burial
grounds, archaeological historic sites and sacred places. In fact, on the island of Kauai, a well known
ancient Hawaiian burial ground was excavated to make room for a huge condominium resort project.
Out of 22 acres of sacred burial grounds, only a one acre parcel was left, and human remains were
displaced and moved to make room for the project. This was devastating to the native Hawaiians who
had loved ones buried there for centuries, but seemed to be insignificant to the tourism industry that
seemed only to be worried about their new project and making money. Hundreds of other cultural and
historic sites have been bulldozed to make way for hotels and golf course developments without
regard for the environmental effects of their actions. In addition to disrupting the environment with
huge new buildings, many other sites such as ancient temples, house sites, fishing shrines, ceremonial
platforms and agricultural have been turned into tourist attractions and have been misused, abused and
disrespected by tourism. This is

Borderlands La Frontera Summary
In this Chapter I feel that Anzaldua is trying to get the reader to understand the differences and
atruggles amongst cultures. The clash of cultures results in mental and emotional confusion. Living
inbetween more than one culture, you often get opposing messages from these cultures. Sometimes
when living within the Chicana culture common white beleifs conflict with the beleifs of the Mexican
culture. They both hold beleifs of the indifinous peopel and their culture. It creates a problem that the
dominant cultures views and beleifs are defiant to the others. This is very wrong because it creats the
problem of one being superior to the other. This especially relates to the Mexican culture and white
culture. This creates the assimilation problem when one culture is not accepted or considered below
another. In the book Borderlands La Frontera it states that El choque de un alma atrapado entre el
mundo del espiritu y el mundo de la tecnica a veces la deja entullada. Cradled in one culture,
sandwhiched between two cultures, stradling all three cultures and their value systems, ... People are

Dreams
The average amount a human will sleep in their lifetime is 229,961 hours. Part of those 229,961 hours
sleeping is spent dreaming. What are dreams? This question has fascinated the human race throughout
history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800 s, till now, people
have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and why we have them.
The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100 BC. According to these
stories, gods and kings, like the 7th century BC scholar king Assurbanipal, paid close attention to
dreams. In his archive of clay tablets, some accounts of the story of the legendary king Gilgamesh

During this stage, many people experience sudden muscle contractions preceded by a sensation of
falling. In stage 2, eye movement stops and brain waves become slower with only an occasional burst
of rapid brain waves. When a person enters stage 3, extremely slow brain waves called delta waves are
interspersed with smaller, faster waves. In stage 4, the brain produces delta waves almost exclusively.
Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone
from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye movement or muscle activity. This is when some children
experience bedwetting, sleepwalking or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after
someone has fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets
longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. A sleeping individual s heart rate and breathing
quickens. People experience more intense dreams during REM sleep, since the brain is more active.
Dreams are constantly occurring throughout the sleep cycle so do not believe anyone who says they
do not dream. Sleep and dreaming causes improved brain activity enabling people to function more
productively. Matthew Wilson, a neuroscientist at the Picower Institute at M.I.T., during the early
1990s, was recording the neuron activity in the brains of rats as they navigated through a difficult

Social Situation In A Rose For Emily
Imagine you are an only child who lives with just your father. Now also imagine that your father cuts
you off from the world and the people in it, and the only human contact and relationships you grow up
with are with that of your father and a house slave. Living this way until your early adulthood when
your father dies it would be a miracle that you developed any social skills at all. For Emily in A Rose
for Emily by William Faulkner this is her life. The interactions that Emily has with other people
throughout the story can only be described as odd, but she doesn t know any better. These
uncomfortable encounters with other people are because Emily is socially awkward. Emily s speech
shows that she is socially awkward. An example of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this from the text comes when Faulkner writes, After he father s death she went out
very little; after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (264). Emily keeping to herself
and away from anyone after these two events shows that she doesn t know how to interact with other
people. The fact that her sweetheart suddenly deserted her also raises some concerns in regards to her
social skills. Another example from the text that Emily was socially awkward occurs when Faulkner
writes, He [the Negro] talked to no one, probably not even to her, for his voice had grown harsh and
rusty as if from disuse (268). This shows that Emily either doesn t care to or doesn t know how to
communicate with other people. Considering her slave was one of the few people she ever interacted
with, it is bizarre that she rarely communicated with him. A final example that shows Emily is socially
awkward happens when Faulkner writes, The man [Homer Barron] himself lay in the bed (264). Emily
killing Homer as a way to keep him again shows that Emily doesn t know how to interact with other
human beings. She even goes as far as to leave his rotting corpse in the bed and sleep next to it, which
only adds to Emily s social awkwardness.
In A Rose for Emily, Emily struggles with her social skills countless times throughout the story. Emily
s speech, and actions clearly exemplify her social awkwardness, as well as the other character s words
about Emily. However, it s not her fault. Emily s father destined her to a life of limited human
interaction and a life cut off from the world outside her large estate. Perhaps Emily s father was just
trying to protect his daughter, or that only the best suitor would do for her. The one thing that is
certain, though, is Emily s obvious lack of social

Steve Jobs Abuse
Steve Jobs was an autocratic leader. He used abuse and threats to motivate Apple employees. Jobs also
made the larger decisions early in the company, by influencing others opinions. As well as using his
own personal vision for Apple products.
First of all Jobs abused employees to encourage them. He would yell obscenities that downgraded his
workers so that they would push themselves further. Debi Coleman, an Apple employee, was often
yelled at by Jobs during board meetings. His words were clear, she wasn t good enough and neither
was her work. Although the criticism was activating it still left the feeling of fear in his workers,
which many autocratic leaders leave with their people so that they follow orders.
Secondly, because, early in Apple history, Jobs would make the larger decisions and use manipulation
to have people agree with him. He had a way of using his charisma to make his own way of thinking

one was even going to see the inside of the computers anyways, but Jobs made them redo the inside

over every detail of the Apple products, which didn t let any of the employees have a relevant opinion

Jungle Fever, The Answer is in Black and White
In America, we are known as the melting pot, the country of diversity, where citizens can be who they
want to be. We can be who we want to be, and look at ourselves however we want to; but how are
others looking at us? In many cases, an individual does not even have a chance to make an impression
on somebody, because they have already been judged simply by their physical aspects. The
controversy of one s color has been around since the beginning of time. In the history of the United
States, the racism against African American s has put them through much oppression, and many walls

We see an example of this when Drew yells at Flipper, saying the issue is your so black you have a
problem! Gaitor also belittles black when he says that he swears before God and white people when
claiming he will not ask for money. In this statement Gaitor is saying that white people are sacred, and
they are basically above everyone else and can be compared to God. Drew and her friends realize after
they find that Flipper has been unfaithful that they are loosing all of their black men. One of Drew s
friends states that there aint a good black man out there , which is a major symbolic shot to the
labeling of African American s. African Americans may look down on themselves because they are a
minority group in America compared to white people. According to Henslin a minority group s
physical or cultural traits are held in low esteem by the dominant group, who treats them unfairly
(266). Flipper s father talks of the white women, or the dominant group as being a pure race compared
to other races. White women are seen in his eyes as very high up on the social status, with much
power.
The reason many people in America today, as well as in the movie are racist is because this is how
they were brought up, by the labels they were taught to live by. Past generations were exposed to
segregation between ethnic groups, which has greatly carried on to how people look at others today.
Up until 1967 it was prohibited for blacks to marry white people in 38 states

Choosing The Correct Teaching Method
Teaching Methods
Introduction
Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information in
an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and
intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me, which
would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic
are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion involves the
deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include
their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver
information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is
able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration
works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and
learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a
demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing
competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed.
Group discussions Group discussions are beneficial as this teaching method is useful as it allows the
learners to share information about their personal experiences and is both economically and

Network Coverage Based On Cell Size Essay
Heterogeneous Network The operators are using better modulation schemes [1], better coding rate,
multi antenna technique for increased throughput and efficiency. But this alone will not suffice as the
resources are limited and there are near far problems associated with a macro cell. One alternative to
increasing the throughput and quality of service is through cell split. To increase the capacity of a cell,
a large cell is divided into smaller cells with each cell having its own serving base station and serving
an area much less than that of a macro cell. A cell can split into micro, Pico and Femto cells. A micro
cell serves an area of less than 2kms with the base station having a transmit power range of 5 watts.
With further reduction in the transmit power, a cell known as Pico cell can serve an area of 100 meters
or less and is mostly used to provide coverage in buildings. A Femto cell with transmission power of
less than 200 Mw provides the least amount of coverage. Fig. 1 Network coverage based on cell size

Euripides Electra s Dilemma
As with much of classical literature, the Ancient Greek tragedy Electra by Euripides presents a
dilemma to the audience. In this play, the dilemma is exclusive to the audience; although it is
presented to the characters in the play, these characters do not hesitate with their plans. This age old
dilemma of kill or no kill is represented in Electra, giving the audience a choice to either sympathize
with the victim, Clytemnestra, or the main character, Electra. In Electra, Orestes and Electra, the
children of Clytemnestra, seek revenge on their mother. The two characters seek revenge because
Clytemnestra murdered her husband, their father, after he sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia.

He learns of Electra s need to avenge her father, and eventually he is revealed to be Orestes. Together,
Electra and Orestes create a plan to lure Clytemnestra into Electra s home and then murder her. Just
before Electra kills her mother, Clytemnestra, in an attempt to sway Electra away from killing her,
explains her reasons why she murdered Agamemnon: But he lured my daughter with the hope of
marriage to/ Achilles and went off taking her from home to Aulis where/ the fleet was held and there
he stretched her over the sacrificial/ altar and slashed the white throat of Iphigenia (Euripides 109). It
is at this point that the dilemma is presented to the audience of the play. Clytemnestra s explanation
presents a dilemma to the audience because the play does not provide enough background information
for the audience to decide whether Electra and Orestes actions are morally correct. As Clytemnestra
gives her explanation as to why she killed Agamemnon, the audience has a choice of either believing
her or chalking up her story to just be an attempt at living. Blinded by her need for revenge, Electra is
not swayed by her mother s story and kills her. ...some believe you, for they do not/ know you as well

What Is Animal Abuse Persuasive Essay

They Hurt Too Animals feel pain and are capable of suffering, just like people. Animals are beaten and
starved to death almost every day. Millions of animals die each year because of brutal and insensitive
owners. Most people don t understand the feelings that animals have and honestly I don t understand it
either but what I do understand is when I see an animal that has been abused, I can tell the way it acts
toward people and their surroundings. They re terrified of us and almost every move we make. It is
not a pretty sight to witness. In one January case, a necropsy showed a dog that had starved to death,
with no fat remaining even in its bone marrow, leading to a felony charge for its owner. (Deirdre, 2) I
understand that when an animal gets abused, they hurt really bad and they can feel the pain of what us
humans feel sometimes too if we were to get punched it hurts but just ... Show more content on

My Trip to Saint Petersburg Dali Museum
For our assigned cultural exposure I chose to visit the Saint Petersburg Dali Museum. I drove over on
a windy day across the causeway in a Jeep that is less than running well, so by the time I found the
museum I was a bit relieved. I had wanted to go to the Museum since moving here in early 2011 but
have just never made the time. I lived in southern Spain for several years and one of the few regrets I
have from my time there is that I never made it to the museum there.
Upon my arrival and paying my admission fee I was informed that there was a guided tour about to
begin. I hurried up the stairs and filled in the back of the pack. There are about 30 35 other patrons
there as well. The guide starts with a brief history of Dali s early life growing up in southeastern
Spain, the death of his mother and his fathers remarrying of Dali s aunt (which he commemorated in a
painting), to his marring to the Famous Gala. The guide then informed us that it was Gala who helped
to manage Dali s career acting as his agent. Not only was his love for Gala shown in his art but also
her tenacity reflected in several of the pieces on display featuring her.
Several of the paintings on display this year either in the Morse Family collection or on loan to the
museum were discussed on the tour to included a painting Dali did about the age of 15 after his
mothers passing and his fathers marring his deceased wife s sister. The painting was done to
commemorate the occasion and even at 15 his skills as

Ophelia Change In Hamlet
For the past few weeks Level four English has been reading Hamlet for the 450th anniversary of
Shakespeare. Recently we attend Hamlet screening in HD at the Lake Placid Center of the Arts
(LPCA). Both In the reading and the actual play the character that changed the most was very similar,
the main character, Ophelia.
To begin with, Shakespeare presents Ophelia as an egg with a slight crack in it. She is very smart and
aware of things and her surrounding. She is the type of person who can not really hide her feeling and
emotions. She would rather suffer in pain and hurt to please her family or the people around her. If
was ask Ophelia on question it would be; Why? That was the main question running through minds
while reading and watching the play. You can tell Ophelia has a mind and a heart of her own, but she
must obey her father and higher powers. Back then in those times women did not have much say or
choice in the things that had to do. So not having that much freedom on top of just having a good girl ,
must do what I am told prospective on things make Ophelia more of an annoying character. ... Show

daughter as if she is a fourteen year old girls who is not aloud to like boys. She knows that he loves

understandable because, men in that time were suppose to care for their family and be the strongest
one out of the entire family. Ophelia is kind of like a kid, she dances around and sings like she has the

Absorption Of Cocaine
Absorption and Distribution of Cocaine
Cocaine is most often administered via nasal insufflation, intravenous injection, the oral route and
inhalation of crack cocaine vapours (unionized form of cocaine) (Fattinger et al., 2000). Cocaine is
absorbed the fastest and has the most intense effects after smoking or intravenous injection. This is
due to rapid absorption, distribution and low degrees of first pass metabolism although nasal or oral
routes are also common (figure 1; Fattinger et al., 2000). Nasal dosing is often preferred to oral
because oral doses have high degrees of first pass metabolism and slow absorption compared to that of
the nasal route. However, a substantial amount of the drug taken via the nasal route will migrate into

South American agriculture (Lee et al., 2012). As a result, profits of illegal activities are maximized
while drug users are being exposed to toxic compounds which may lead to requirement of expensive
medical treatment. These concern raises question of whether cocaine or a less addictive cocaine

Solomon Reed Archetypes
Archetypes are twelve different models of people s minds. These archetypes are formed by
experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed
is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear
is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and
creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Solomon s
friends have been trying to get him outside for a long time, but frankly, he s terrified. One night,
despite what he told himself, he manages to gather the courage to walk outside of his house. The
outside to Solomon is, as the book states, a void ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This noteworthy significance he has is the fact that he refuses to step out of his house. He even
provides his logic for it. He says, I have food, I have water and most important it never gets out of
control. By staying in house he can manage his life without fear and that also makes him unique and
unusual or...noteworthy. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve
problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a
Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica
of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. It
also, became a comfortable place for Solomon to go when he had a panic attack. This shows his
creativity because he found a functional and fun way to help him cope with his panic attacks. Solomon
is persistent, noteworthy and creative. He is persistent because he decided to go outside despite is
unwillingness to do so. He is noteworthy because unlike most kids, he has unusual behaviors that
result in him staying inside often. And finally, he is creative, because he used his imagination to help
him deal with his health problems in a unique way. Because of these three character traits I believe
that Solomon is a Sage

To Kill a Mockingbird Response to Literature Essay

Period 1, Mrs. Grexton
November 18 2011
There are many significant symbols used to represent the different themes in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Throughout the book Harper Lee transmits a message to the reader using examples and symbols to get
her point across. Some of these symbols include the dresses, Tim Johnson, and dependencies. The
symbol that best represents the theme of growing up would be clothing. Throughout the book, clothing
has been more than just a choice of style; it had been a sign of maturity. Another instance would be
when Miss Maudie asks Scout, Where are your britches today? Scout answers back, Under my dress.

He s far from dead, Jem, he hasn t gotten started yet. Racism has a funny way of popping back up
once you think its done and over with. Just when you think its about to die out, there is still more out
there. Aside from clothes and Tim, deceptive appearance is also an important theme symbolized by
people s different dependencies. Although the weakness may look like one thing, it might actually
mean another. For example: secretly Miss Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see they could
never, never understand that I live the way I do because that s the way I want to live. (Lee 268)
Dolphus Raymond s apparent weakness/dependency seem to be an addiction to spirits. But as we take
a closer look he reveals to us that his so called addiction is only a cover up so people would spare the
time to try and figure out his motives. His left arm was fully 12 inches shorter than his right, and hung
dead at his side. (Lee 248) Tom s state implies that he committed the crime and looks as if he is guilty,
but his dependency being his left arm proves that he couldn t have done the crime. Mrs Dubose was a
morphine addict, she took pain killers for years...she was going to leave this world holden to nothing
and nobody. Hearing this from Atticus jem realizes, You mean that s what her fits were? (Lee 147 and

Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Maslow s hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow, organizing
humanities most basic needs. (Martin and Joomis, 2007). Maslow s hierarchy of needs is often
represented in the shape of a pyramid with the largest, most fundamental levels of needs at the base
and the need for self actualization at the peak. The pyramid itself is irrelevant, however it has become
the de facto way to represent the hierarchy. The hierarchy depicts physiological needs as the most
basic need, which includes air, water, food, clothing, shelter, and sexual instinct. The question in
theory is if sex should even be considered a basic need to scale up the pyramid. In the LGBQTA

there are several issues that threaten the industry. One that was mentioned earlier gas prices. Labor
disputes are a factor as well. You may say that the airline industry has hit an extremely bad era. The
changes that these airlines are being driven to make will be very different from the way it used to be.
As most people know, the government has had much in bailing out business and the transformation
that some have undergone and the airline industry is no exception. The government has a major
influence on the restructuring of the industry and the air transportation system in general. To combat
the escalating expenses of enhanced security and diminishing supply demand, employee layoffs and
service trimming were the first areas to see cutbacks. This is certainly a competitive industry with new
companies surfacing and others failing. The restructuring will definitely influence the airline industry
s inclination concerning the development of both domestic and international service. It has been hard
for this industry to keep revenue up and cover all the rising expenses, which makes for an obstruction
in growth and prosperity. Gas prices play a massive key role in the struggle of this industry. At one

Pros And Cons Of Gimo
GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic
foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why
GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as
terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United
States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another
country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the
individual in detention.
The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected
as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close
GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility because
this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. I would make
the argument for detaining the enemy combatants in the country they were arrested in, but prison

Myasthenia Gravis Research Paper
Myasthenia gravis is considered an autoimmune disease because people who have it carry an antibody
called polyclonal that destroys the acetylcholine receptors (Neurology, 2013). These antibodies
destroy receptor sites in the neuromuscular junction faster than the body can produce them. Usually
antibodies protect the body from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses, but in the case of MG it
attacks accessories that are required for muscle movement. In a study conducted by Jon Lindstrom and
Seybold Marjorie (1998), it was concluded that out of 71 patients with MG, 87 percent of them had a
greater amount of antibodies for destroying acetlycholine receptors than normal (Lindstrom Marjorie,
1998). They compared this amount to 175 patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, anti acetylcholinesterase agents like Mestinon are available; these stop the breakdown of
acetlycholine allowing more to be created, letting more of it to be attached to receptors (Product

however they do cause nausea, muscle cramps and involuntary twitches. There is also corticosteroids
like prednisone which basically which reduce acetylcholine receptor antibody (Treatment for MG,
2010). They are inexpensive but they may cause hypertension and diabetes (Treatment for MG, 2010).
Another major approach to treating myasthenia gravis is removing the thymus gland. Between ten to
fifteen percent of patients with MG have a tumor in this gland. The relationship between myasthenia
gravis and the thymus gland is still a topic under major study and for the most part is unclear.
However, some scientist say the thymus gland is what produces the acetylcholine receptor antibodies.

  • 6. The Hobbit Songs The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.(15) The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a tale comprised almost solely of mystique and heroics. One facet of this precious story is given through song. The songs are meant to give a picture of the past and also to foreshadow what is to come. In the case of the dwarf party, their songs spoke of a past event, the moving of a wind over the land, and their triumphant return to the halls of their ancestors. Song singing is a great medium for sharing information as well as feelings, and Tolkien used this medium well. First, the first song we hear through the book is Misty Mountain and was sung by the dwarves pining for their ancestral home. Thorin started the song and all joined in the retelling of their greatest defeat. They sing of a return to their home and of the wondrous happenings that once occurred there. Smaug s coming is the solemn climax of this sorrowful song. The mountain smoked beneath the moon; The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom. They fled their hall to dying fall Beneath his feet, beneath the moon. (15) Grimly Misty Mountain sets up the book as a serious journey of a wronged people to restore their honor and family. Many of the major resorts have been built on culturally significant sites. Construction of tourist related businesses have played a huge part in the destruction of ancient Hawaiian burial grounds, archaeological historic sites and sacred places. In fact, on the island of Kauai, a well known ancient Hawaiian burial ground was excavated to make room for a huge condominium resort project. Out of 22 acres of sacred burial grounds, only a one acre parcel was left, and human remains were displaced and moved to make room for the project. This was devastating to the native Hawaiians who had loved ones buried there for centuries, but seemed to be insignificant to the tourism industry that seemed only to be worried about their new project and making money. It creates a problem that the dominant cultures views and beleifs are defiant to the others. This is very wrong because it creats the problem of one being superior to the other. Living this way until your early adulthood when your father dies it would be a miracle that you developed any social skills at all. For Emily in A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner this is her life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this from the text comes when Faulkner writes, After he father s death she went out very little; after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (264). Emily keeping to herself and away from anyone after these two events shows that she doesn t know how to interact with other people. The fact that her sweetheart suddenly deserted her also raises some concerns in regards to her social skills. Another example from the text that Emily was socially awkward occurs when Faulkner writes, He [the Negro] talked to no one, probably not even to her, for his voice had grown harsh and rusty as if from disuse (268). This shows that Emily either doesn t care to or doesn t know how to communicate with other people. Considering her slave was one of the few people she ever interacted with, it is bizarre that she rarely communicated with him. A final example that shows Emily is socially awkward happens when Faulkner writes, The man [Homer Barron] himself lay in the bed (264). Emily killing Homer as a way to keep him again shows that Emily doesn t know how to interact with other human beings. She even goes as far as to leave his rotting corpse in the bed and sleep next to it, which only adds to Emily s social awkwardness. In A Rose for Emily, Emily struggles with her social skills countless times throughout the story. Emily s speech, and actions clearly exemplify her social awkwardness, as well as the other character s words about Emily. However, it s not her fault. Emily s father destined her to a life of limited human interaction and a life cut off from the world outside her large estate. Perhaps Emily s father was just trying to protect his daughter, or that only the best suitor would do for her. The one thing that is certain, though, is Emily s obvious lack of social ... Choosing The Correct Teaching Method Teaching Methods Introduction Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information in an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me, which would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion involves the deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed. Network Coverage Based On Cell Size Essay Heterogeneous Network The operators are using better modulation schemes [1], better coding rate, multi antenna technique for increased throughput and efficiency. But this alone will not suffice as the resources are limited and there are near far problems associated with a macro cell. One alternative to increasing the throughput and quality of service is through cell split. To increase the capacity of a cell, a large cell is divided into smaller cells with each cell having its own serving base station and serving an area much less than that of a macro cell. A cell can split into micro, Pico and Femto cells. A micro cell serves an area of less than 2kms with the base station having a transmit power range of 5 watts. With further reduction in the transmit power, a cell known as Pico cell can serve an area of 100 meters or less and is mostly used to provide coverage in buildings. A Femto cell with transmission power of less than 200 Mw provides the least amount of coverage. Fig. 1 Network coverage based on cell size Thus while Macro cell can provide a wider coverage, in high density areas small cells can be used for data offloading, both indoors and outdoors. Recently we attend Hamlet screening in HD at the Lake Placid Center of the Arts (LPCA). Both In the reading and the actual play the character that changed the most was very similar, the main character, Ophelia. To begin with, Shakespeare presents Ophelia as an egg with a slight crack in it. She is very smart and aware of things and her surrounding. She is the type of person who can not really hide her feeling and emotions. She would rather suffer in pain and hurt to please her family or the people around her. If was ask Ophelia on question it would be; Why? That was the main question running through minds while reading and watching the play. You can tell Ophelia has a mind and a heart of her own, but she must obey her father and higher powers. Back then in those times women did not have much say or choice in the things that had to do. So not having that much freedom on top of just having a good girl , must do what I am told prospective on things make Ophelia more of an annoying character. ... Absorption Of Cocaine Absorption and Distribution of Cocaine Cocaine is most often administered via nasal insufflation, intravenous injection, the oral route and inhalation of crack cocaine vapours (unionized form of cocaine) (Fattinger et al., 2000). Cocaine is absorbed the fastest and has the most intense effects after smoking or intravenous injection. This is due to rapid absorption, distribution and low degrees of first pass metabolism although nasal or oral routes are also common (figure 1; Fattinger et al., 2000). Nasal dosing is often preferred to oral because oral doses have high degrees of first pass metabolism and slow absorption compared to that of the nasal route. • 30. Solomon Reed Archetypes Archetypes are twelve different models of people s minds. These archetypes are formed by experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Solomon s friends have been trying to get him outside for a long time, but frankly, he s terrified. One night, despite what he told himself, he manages to gather the courage to walk outside of his house. The outside to Solomon is, as the book states, a void ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This noteworthy significance he has is the fact that he refuses to step out of his house. He even provides his logic for it. He says, I have food, I have water and most important it never gets out of control. By staying in house he can manage his life without fear and that also makes him unique and unusual or...noteworthy. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. It also, became a comfortable place for Solomon to go when he had a panic attack. This shows his creativity because he found a functional and fun way to help him cope with his panic attacks. Solomon is persistent, noteworthy and creative. He is persistent because he decided to go outside despite is unwillingness to do so. He is noteworthy because unlike most kids, he has unusual behaviors that result in him staying inside often. And finally, he is creative, because he used his imagination to help him deal with his health problems in a unique way. Because of these three character traits I believe that Solomon is a Sage ... To Kill a Mockingbird Response to Literature Essay Simran Gaglani English honors Period 1, Mrs. Grexton November 18 2011 There are many significant symbols used to represent the different themes in To Kill a Mockingbird. Throughout the book Harper Lee transmits a message to the reader using examples and symbols to get her point across. Some of these symbols include the dresses, Tim Johnson, and dependencies. The symbol that best represents the theme of growing up would be clothing. Throughout the book, clothing has been more than just a choice of style; it had been a sign of maturity. Another instance would be when Miss Maudie asks Scout, Where are your britches today? Scout answers back, Under my dress. (Lee 309) This shows that Scout has finally learned to accept the ... Although the weakness may look like one thing, it might actually mean another. For example: secretly Miss Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see they could never, never understand that I live the way I do because that s the way I want to live. Maslow s hierarchy of needs is often represented in the shape of a pyramid with the largest, most fundamental levels of needs at the base and the need for self actualization at the peak. The pyramid itself is irrelevant, however it has become the de facto way to represent the hierarchy. The hierarchy depicts physiological needs as the most basic need, which includes air, water, food, clothing, shelter, and sexual instinct. Pros And Cons Of Gimo GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the individual in detention. The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close GITMO as a detention facility. Myasthenia Gravis Research Paper Myasthenia gravis is considered an autoimmune disease because people who have it carry an antibody called polyclonal that destroys the acetylcholine receptors (Neurology, 2013).
