The American Of Canadian Foreign Relations
Over the course of history Canada has engaged in social, political, economic and cultural relations
with various countries. Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian
foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as
expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canada s identity
as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the Americans
failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if certain battles
favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada was a result of
poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were not fully prepared
to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of their war capabilities,
loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could take advantage and
attack the British during the American Revolution.
An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for Canada
against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec, what is known
and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The purpose or motive of
the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would ultimately prove to be a
failure for the Americans, which is discussed

Grand Nursing Theory Paper
From the beginning of time, great emphasis has been placed on a need for care due to illness and
disease. In the past, medical knowledge in nursing guided and provided the greatest direction for
practice. It was not until the 1960 s when Dr. Madeleine Leininger felt there was a need of shift from
biomedicine toward integrating culturally sensitive care within the profession of nursing. The goal of
the theory has been to use research findings to provide culture specific care that would be culturally
congruent, safe, and beneficial to people of diverse or similar cultures for their health, wellbeing, and
healing, and to help face disability and death (McFarland, Wehbe Alamah, 2015, p. 6). Utilizing the
seven chosen criteria listed in Willis (2002, pp.119 122) Overview of Grand Nursing Theories,
including the contemporary social, political, and economic realities, I will be describing and analyzing
Madeleine M. Leininger s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality. I will also discuss how
Leininger s theory guides my personal practice, potential barriers that may arise while using this
theory, and strategies to facilitate the use of the theory.
Analysis
Background of the theorist
Madeleine Leininger worked as a clinical child nurse specialist after obtaining her undergraduate
nursing based degree and master s degree (Parker, 2006, p. 309). Her theoretical perspective arose
from observations she made during her time spent with children from diverse cultural

English Class Reflection
I can say with a high degree of confidence that AP Upper Mid English has been unlike any other
English course that I have taken during my academic career. Put plainly, the material and in class
instruction of the class is revelatory in every sense of the term, and, overall, the organization and
matter of the course was exceptional. In terms of the organization of the course as a whole, I believe
that the English Department was able to successfully distill all of the dominant aspects of learning that
an English class epitomizes into the relatively short period of time that school is in session. In my
experience, I have found the class to be organized and structured competently. The schedule,
curriculum, and writing assignments were easy to understand and I felt as though I exited the
classroom every class feeling as if I accomplished what I had to for that day and I had a definite grip
on what to expect for the next class. That being said, I think it is also imperative for me to mention
that the course was not overly constricting or overly structured either the schedule had enough
malleability to accommodate for impromptu activities. For instance, when Bob Levy, an acclaimed
journalist for the Washington Post, visited Taft, our class used our period to have a invigorating
conversation with him about the future of Internet Privacy, a conversation that I think was instructive
and, in all likelihood, prepared me for the AP Exam just as much as the traditional class that we

Experiment to Measure the Concentration of Two Sugars
Soda, candy, sweets are extremely tasty because of all the sugar they contain. However, not many
people know that there are different types of sugar, and one kind of food can have multiple kinds of
sugar. Our bodies actually process the types of sugar differently, and with my science project, I will
measure the concentration of two sugars; glucose, and sucrose, in different foods and how sucrose is
converted into glucose with an enzyme called invertase, just like it would in our bodies. This will help
figure out how the amount of glucose we digest fluctuates with the enzyme converting sucrose into
glucose. Sweet tasty foods are one of the hearts great desires. The main reason why they are such a
want is due to the sugar in them. The nutrition label often shows how much sugar are in these foods,
but the sugar you probably see the most of is sucrose, generally the white granules of sugar used for
backing delicious sweets like cupcakes and lollipops. For example, the nutrition label for a 20 fl oz.
Dr. Pepper contains 64 g of sugar, and a total of 66g of carbohydrates. Even an original cheesecake
from the cheesecake factory contains about 27 grams or more of sugar, with the total amount of carbs
being 32 g. With there being several types of sugars, all of them technically being carbohydrates
chemical compounds that only have carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and are mainly made by plants.
The second type of sugar commonly found in foods is Glucose. In the body, sucrose is

How Did Shakespeare Changed The World
Have you ever anticipated anything with abated breath, or have you ever been stuck in a pickle?
Maybe not, but most people have heard these common expression before and would know what they
refer to. What most people do not know is that these expressions are being quoted directly out of parts
of Shakespeare s work. Although for many it may not be readily apparent, Shakespeare is an
extremely influential person. He has affected the arts from literature to theater. Although many people
do not realize how important Shakespeare is, he has changed the world. Shakespeare s influence on
the English language and literature can be seen through many different ways. One of the ways that
Shakespeare has influenced our language is through the vocabulary that he added to our dictionary.
Shakespeare had a working vocabulary of more than 30,000 words. But if he did not have a word that
he needed in order to adequately describe something, he would simply create and merge existing
words together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The well known phrases of being in a pickle or waiting with bated breath, are both popular quotes that
have stemmed from Shakespeare s plays The Tempest and The Merchant of Venice. If you have used
the term of having gone on a wild goose chase you would be using a phrase that originated from
Romeo and Juliet (Anderson). Unfortunately, most people do not realize that Shakespeare plays such
an extremely important role in our dialect every day. Most people who unknowingly use phrases and
sayings that have come from Shakespeare on a regular basis do not realize Shakespeare s importance
in their lives. Marjorie Garber, a writer who holds great respect for Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare
sampled, Shakespeare quoted without quotation marks, has become a lingua franca of modern cultural
exchange (Garber). Many people use words, phrases, or sayings that Shakespeare invented without

How Did The Crusades Influence The Crusades
Emperor Alexius encouraged Pope Urban to rally troops to help confront the Seljuk Turks, whom
were trying to invade the Byzantine Empire, in 1081. However, Pope Urban saw it as an opportunity
to take back the Holy Land. He rallied a wealthy army, by assuring people that if they went to the holy
land and fought that their sins would be forgiven and would assure them a spot in heaven. With that
being said, the Christian knights were influenced by Pope Urban to start a vicious and fatal war with
the Muslims, which led to the Crusades. The Crusades were a series of religious wars between the
Christian knights and Muslims. Christians initiated the wars, in order to gain control of the Holy Land,
Jerusalem. The two eyewitness testimonies accounted by Robert of Clari and Nicetas Choniates
describes the violent and atrocious acts during the Crusades. Both testimonies gave great insight on
what happened before and during the fourth crusade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Crusaders managed to keep a reign over Jerusalem for many years, until Muslims took it back.
The Crusades claimed Jerusalem, Edessa, Antioch, and Tripoli. Until the Seljuk s took over Edessa,
this led to the Second Crusade. The Second Crusade began in 1147 and was led by King Louis VII and
King Conrad III. Louis and Conrad attacked Syrian s in Damascus and lost, ending the Second
Crusade. In 1187, when Saladin s army defeated the Christian army at the battle of Hattin, this defeat
among others led to the Third Crusade. Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, King Philip II, and King
Richard led the Third Crusade. King Richard s army defeated Saladin in the battle of Arsuf, with this
win Christians managed to gain control over some regions near Jerusalem. Richard and Saladin came

Wild horses and burros are starving in the ten western states consisting of Arizona, California,
Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. The Bureau of Land
Management or BLM is a national government agency that manages, protects, and controls the wild
horse and burro population under the 1971 Wild Free Roaming Horses and Burros Act. This law
authorizes the BLM to regulate the population of horses and burros to sustain a healthy environment
for the land and the animals. The wild horses and burros are found in herd management areas across
the ten western states. The estimated total wild horses and burros in California are 8,316 with the

As of March 1, 2016, the BLM estimated a total amount of 67,027 wild horses and burros in all of the
western states. The BLM has recommended that the maximum population that the land can sustain is
26,715 (Gorey and Lutterman 1). The BLM must find ways to control the population because of the
crowding. According to Wild Horse Education Population control is a phrase used to describe the
methods that are utilized by the BLM to achieve what they term as Appropriate Management Level, or
AML ( Population Control 1). Appropriate management level is the amount of horses and burros that
can thrive in balance with other public land resources and uses. If left uncontrolled, Mother Nature
would regulate the population by disease, dehydration, and starvation. The population of the horses
would increase causing food to become scarce and the horses to starve. Not controlling the population
would be inhumane. The horses would suffer from starvation, causing a slow death. Private ranchers
obtain permits for their cattle to graze on BLM land which further affects the problem of scarcity of
food and water for all animals. The wild horse and burro population should be controlled using
humane methods

Raynauds Disease Essay
Raynaud s Disease
Few people are aware of Raynaud s disease even though it is a fairly common condition. Raynaulds
Disease is also referred to as Raynauld s phenonmenon. Raynaud s is a condition in which cold
temperatures or stress cause blood vessel spasms that block blood flow to fingers, toes, nose, and ears.
This causes these body parts to suddenly turn ice cold and to become a purple or blue color. Later
when the blood flow becomes normal the area turns a reddish color and later returns to normal. There
are two types of Raynaud s Disease, primary Raynaud s disease and secondary Raynaud s disease.
Primary Raynaud s is when a person has no other cause or condition. Secondary Raynaud s is when

People with Raynaud s may not know that they actually have it. Raynaud s phenomenon has been seen
with a lot of conditions. These conditions include rheumatic diseases such as sclerrodero and
rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Hormone imbalance trauma, like
Frostbite and the use of vibrating tools (like a jack hammer) can provoke Raynads. Some medications
such as estrogens, cancer treatments and nicotine can cause Raynauds to onset. Here are some signs
and tests to see if you have Raynaud s or another disease. The doctor will perform a physical exam,
vascular ultrasound, and a cold simulation test. Different blood tests can also be done but there is no
specific blood test that confirms Raynauds. The blood testing is done to diagnose other conditions
typically associated with Raynaulds.
3 There are lifestyle changes that may help people with Raynaud s disease. Smoking makes Raynauds
worse. If someone has Raynauds they should not smoke or use nicotine in any way. If the person is
taking medications that cause the blood vessels to spasm or tighten they should take a different
medication, if there is one available.
Stop smoking, avoid caffeine, avoid medications (if not life threatening) that can cause tightening or
spasms of the blood vessels, avoid the cold in any way, and always wear shoes and socks outside in
cold weather. Patients with persistent or bothersome

Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And...
There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works should be
considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are statements by
Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the Romantic sick . . . Most of
the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it is weak, sickly, and ill, and the
old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh, cheerful, and healthy.
(Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
(Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as this masterpiece is in two separate
sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part I and Part II differently. However,
Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth and topics and characters of the
supernatural, that match the European Romanticism philosophies.
Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and
scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives. Upon
realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies, he strives
to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of Romanticism entails a
core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to evolve and increase their
human potential. Moreover,

By reviewing the data that includes many minor conflict events, they discovered evidence that

The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow And Rip Van Winkle
Does the name Washington Irving ring a bell? The author of the immortalized tales, The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle. A man who has passed away almost two centuries ago, and still
yet, a man who has paved the way for American literature. Washington Irving was born in New York,
New York on April 3, 1783, and turned to writing once the family s import export business had failed.
Realizing that there would be no more means to support himself financially, Irving took up his talent
and his passion as his profession. Throughout his life, Irving traveled constantly; from London,
England, to Madrid, Spain, as well as the Western prairie frontiers of his homeland. His most
renowned work, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., is a Salmagundi (the title of another of
his books) of essays, short stories, and tales heavily influenced by German folklore. In this collection,
Irving frequently describes abstract ideas and ongoing situations with the expert use of analogies and
metaphors, while expressing the inner heart of his characters with such vivid intensity that they seem
to come alive. In addition, Irving proves himself a Jack of all trades by providing subtle satire for the
amusement of the reader. By exhibiting his prodigious expertise in these numerous fields of literature,
Irving establishes the fact that he is one of the greatest writers in history. As a reader, the frequency in
which Irving artfully describes a situation is distinguishable from most

The Modern American View of Disability
In Rosmarie Garland Thomson: The politics of Staring , expresses how our society has changed over
time. She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to
call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four
figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are
discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and
examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability.
The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous
represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the
association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By
visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of
strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and
the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. By saying The antecedents of the wondrous disabled
figures are the monsters of antiquity, who inspired awe, foretold the future, or bore divine signs, and
freaks, who were the celebrities in nineteenth century dime museums and sideshows she shows how

Political Science Of Political Sabotage Or Dirty Plans Essay
Ratf**ked is a term used in political science to describe political sabotage or dirty plans. David Daley,
in his book of the same name, describes Republicans incentives in 2010 to take control of state
legislatures and control congressional redistricting processes. Republicans were then able to take
redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The
Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the
Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina
and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election.
Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to
help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid
term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to
control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski
had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the
legislature. His REDMAP team would create priority lists of swing states, to state houses, and finally
to state senates that they had to win. Republicans focused their time and energy on areas that they
believed that they could swing red or keep red by calling, sending mail, billboards,

Eye Of The Sea Research Paper
Glistening water, beautiful coral composed of your friendly neighbourhood porifera, but what lays
beyond the cliff of coral into deep, dark waters? PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD advisor,
Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A variety of
other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they differ from the
creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of scientists were the
animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists can use this information
to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or at least unobtrusively through
a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are interested in how the different deep
sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very minimal interactions with humans or man
made objects. However, their habitats are too dangerous for humans; I suspect there would not have
been as much evolution as seen in land animals, considering the fact that in 2004, Raymond and
Widder had spotted a 2 metre squid using Eye of the Sea. Could there be other organisms that retain

for any of the firms. EQT is an all equity firm with 1,000 shares outstanding and expected return of
22%. Since there is no growth, EQT will pay out all earnings to shareholders as dividends. In contrast,
DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity
outstanding for DBT Corp. After the interest expense,
DBT will also pay out all the earnings to its shareholders.

(b) What is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What would be the total equity value if Upjohn were 100% equity finance?
1.
(a) Since EQT is an all equity firm, its earnings are $22,000. Thus firm value is the equity value,
which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are
1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT
= $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the
same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT.
According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of
the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT
=VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000
$40,000 = $60,000.
Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120
(b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%. Therefore DBT is riskier
than EQT since
EQT has fewer number of equityholders but bears the same total amount of risk.
(c) John s total dividend payment from holding 200 shares of EQTT Corp is $4,400 (=22%*
($100*200)). Since DBT is a leveled company, you need to unlevel yourself by selling some of your
shares in DBT and deposit the proceeds at the risk free rate. Suppose you will need to sell x shares in
DBT, i.e. to deposit ($120*x), your total income flow will be
[$120*(212 x)*33.33%+$120*x*5%].

Employee Relations in the New British Economy
Employee Relations in the New British Economy Great Britain is currently recovering from one of the
worst economic periods since the 1930s. Everyone is feeling the pinch. As companies try to compete
in this new economic environment, and the government tries to reduce national debt, many industries
are finding themselves in situations where they must find ways to improve employee relations on an
industry wide basis. In the past, employee relations formed an important part of the competitive
advantage for individual firms. After falling out of favor for some time, trade unions are now
becoming more popular as a way of bolstering entire sectors of the economy or industries. This

perspective I would be happy if the offer was denied, simply because the culture instilled within

With these generally specific questions, many participants could underestimate the broad scope of
what SWB is trying to gauge, and could thus opt out of the survey before fully understanding the
product and thus decreasing demand.
Various choices of words employed in the survey posses some ambiguity, and that may cause
respondents to not understand the question and not seem interested. For example, the word familiar in
question 2 and reasonable monthly rate in question 3 don t mean the same thing amongst respondents.
For question 2, interval scale could ve been utilized to gauge level of familiarity, and for question 3,
price factors may steer customers away from being interested.
Analysis and Conclusion
The survey administered by Peters Marketing Research for the purpose of measuring customers
interest in BELLBOY would tend to understate the true unmet demand for the service due to the
sample and questionnaire design. This will be discussed in details as follows.
The sampling frame includes only businesses that already have a telephone number with the

true demand as they may be interested in using the BELLBOY service as well.

Over the last years the focus of marketing has changed from transactional to relationship marketing
because companies realized that is cheaper to keep old customers rather than attracting new ones. Also
this shift has occurred because of the intense rivalry that can be noticed in every industry. Besides its
main goal of retaining customers and encouraging repeats, relationship marketing also creates value
through relationships between buyers and sellers as well inside the organisation, or external with
competitors, suppliers and distributors. A develop definition of relationship marketing by Christian
Grönroos in 1989 would be: The purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improving customer satisfaction and longevity, providing a competitive edge and reducing marketing
expenses are just relationship marketing strategies that have a great impact on a company. By adopting
this marketing pattern, there are created benefits, not only for the service firm but also for its loyal
customers, such as lower marketing expenditures, stability, new barriers for new competitors and
reduced uncertainty. A big advantage for the relationship marketing approach is that it lowers the
operating costs. Having loyal customers means that the company gets to know its buyers more and
more with each transaction. Being based on a relationship approach, a company requires less
information about the customer because with each encounter with him, the firm adds new information
to the customer database. Strategically, a company based on the relationship marketing, has long term
customers increasing their profits. Having more advantages for the customers than a traditional
transactional marketing based company, a relationship marketing approach confers the company the
possibility of charging more for their services without affecting the number of customers. A good
example is the medical industry where a known individual might be willing to pay more for a doctor
they know rather than choosing a cheaper competitor. In the services market a company may even
charge more their premium customers for

The Effects Of Elevated Carbon Dioxide ( Co2 ) Essay
2. Impact of Elevated Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a trace gas accounting for about 0.039 per cent or 390 ppm currently. CO2
concentration increases by 1 to 3 ppm every year primarily because of burning of fossil fuels. In
future, by 2100 the atmospheric CO2 concentration should reach 600 to 750 ppm. Plants are directly
influenced by increase in CO2 concentration; and increase in CO2 affects many physiological
processes like photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, reproductive processes, and yield. CO2
diffuses from the atmosphere into leaves, via., stomata into mesophyll cells, intercellular spaces, cells,
and finally reach chloroplast for photosynthetic process. Increasing CO2 concentration in the
atmosphere will enhance the photosynthesis and dry matter production. The response to CO2 varies
among species mainly by the enzyme RuBisCo (RuBP). C3 plants readily react by increasing the
activity of RuBP carboxylase and by reducing the activity of RuBP oxygenase. Increase in
photosynthesis by 25% 75% was observed over doubling of atmospheric CO2. C4 plants show little
response to elevated CO2. Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) plants also showed an increase in
photosynthetic rate. The increasing concentration of CO2 by burning of fossil fuels can be reduced by
improving the carbon fixation in the plants. Short term exposure of CO2 on plants shows increased
photosynthesis, whereas long term exposure shows variation in photosynthesis and also plant growth.

Epilogue To Lenore
Today, March 14, the day I will never forget. The day of my wedding with the love of my life,
Lenore. We live in a huge castle, on the top of a very steep hill. After the most beautiful wedding ever,
Lenore said she wanted to go water her huge garden down at the bottom of this extremely long path. I
asked her if she wanted me to come with her, but she said she was okay and could probably handle it
on her own. So she got her water pot and started down the long, long pathway. As she continued to
walk it started to get dark, so I decided I would get a candle and start walking down to go find Lenore.
I looked up and saw so many dark clouds coming towards us, I knew I needed to find her fast. When I
looked back, I saw that the castle was extremely close to me, I started to run because I knew strange
people roam around in these woods down here at night. While i m ... Show more content on

then ran over to Lenore to make sure she was ok. When I finally reached her I noticed that she was hit

sitting right on Lenore s right shoulder. I had no idea why the raven was there. I carried my sweet
Lenore back to her bed and laid her there and just sat there staring at her thinking how could I let this
happen to the love of my life. That night I buried her in the backyard of her castle, I did not bother to

Lenore was I just simply told them she is extremely sick in bed. I still have not spelt since that night

Just as I was about to rejoin the others, something tackled Superboy sending both of them through the

to run down my spine. Looking up, the figure of Sportsmaster stands menacingly above me. For a
second, I swear I heard a chuckle coming from behind his mask, but it was short lived when he throws
a live grenade at me; it lands perfectly on my flat chest.
Don t even bother Kyle, that thing won t kill you.
Grinning cockily, I patiently wait for it to go off. Then, it clicks, but instead of a loud boom, it releases

The contribution of George Martin (producer of Sgt Pepper) also played a major part in the success of
Sgt Pepper, his knowledge of classical music training is also apparent throughout the album.
This unique way of recording created a culturally significant album. They used innovative ideas in the
studio some of which were being used for the first time in history on such a commercial level thus
creating a genre very much their own. Using all the techniques in song writing and technology they
have made a lasting impact on popular music. Their ideas have helped redefine pop music as a
culturally significant art form. Sgt. Pepper has influenced so many other artists to explore different
styles and techniques in song writing and recording, it has opened new doors in to worldwide culture;
bringing together a collective of worldwide music into a single album which has lead the way in
defining popular music in our society.
Jonathan Gould describes it as a rich, sustained, and overflowing work of collaborative genius whose
bold ambition and startling originality dramatically enlarged the possibilities and raised the
expectations of what the experience of listening to popular music on record could be. (2008. Can t

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States
The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required,
nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of
cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United
States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death
penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the
vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up
with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was
written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of
decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our
society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on
this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the
opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have
committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves
to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death
penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our constitution, the cruel and

The American Revolution, lasting from 1765 to 1783, was a war between Great Britain and its thirteen
colonies in North America. The colonies overthrew British authority and established the United States
of America. Despite containing the word revolution in its name, the societal structure created after the
war was not so fundamentally different from the one before, even though it contained numerous
changes and advancements. As a result, the movement was more reformist than revolutionary.
America s new society after the war was not so intrinsically different from what it was before. The

A marketing audit is a function, in the context of management operations, by which the assessment of
the implementation of strategic marketing at tactical level is attempted. The application of marketing
audit results in testing the compatibility and comparability of the objectives, sought to be implemented
within the marketing strategy, with measurable targets which are achieved in reality. This can be
implemented through the presentation and analysis of results in different areas of business operation

Potential or existing customers can consider product prices high, low or fair, thereby regulating the
active demand for the products of the company.
Also, it is necessary through the marketing audit to propose and develop a system for evaluation of the
distinctive properties of different products of the company, which play a decisive role in whether these
products will be commercially successful.
Ultimately, the main objective of the marketing audit should be to develop ways and methods
proposals aimed at improving the skills and abilities of the personnel in the sales department of the
company, in order to promote the products and achieve the sales targets. This may mean the provision
of additional incentives and training, to the existing sales force, and the recruitment of new
salespeople.
The above objectives of the marketing audit are not restrictive, since the implementation of the initial
objectives may differentiate when unforeseen problems arise, and it is necessary to solve them.
Finally, we can say that the marketing audit, apart from focusing on a particular part of business
operations, should analyze and assess the effectiveness of the overall marketing function. From past
experience, it has been observed that problems arise in other areas of focus than the ones that the
marketing audit procedure seeks to evaluate.
Moreover, as a general rule of thumb, on top of identifying problem areas, the aim of marketing audit
should be to propose solutions and

Civil Courts Vs Syariah Court Case Analysis
The issue of jurisdictional conflict between the civil courts and the Syariah courts has been standing
unresolved for so many years. Notwithstanding the amendment made to Article 121(1A) of the
Federal Constitution in 1988, the battle between the two courts remains unsettled. The root cause of
this issue is the existence of a grey area between Article 121 (1) and Article 121(1A) of the Federal
Constitution after the 1988 amendment. Undoubtedly, the aim of the amendment which created Article
121(1A) was in many ways to avoid in the future for any conflict between the decisions of the civil
courts and the Syariah courts. However, it turns to have caused even more uncertainty, conflict and
confusion in our legal system than ever was the case.

Shadow Reflection
The student I chose to follow for a shadow study is a junior girl who has been very open in class about
expressing her opinion. The student is in my cooperating teacher s Basic Geometry class during
second block. I picked this particular student because my cooperating teacher told me a story about
how last year this student yelled at a substitute teacher while he was absent and walked out of class.
Also, I have seen how this student interacts with her peers in my cooperating teacher s classroom. I
found it interesting to see how the other teachers work with her. This will give me an insight on how
to structure the class when I teach. I also have this student s younger sister in Algebra I. She is a
freshman, and I never would have guessed that they were sisters until she told me. The schedule is a
block schedule, so each class is ninety minutes except seminar at the end of the day, which is thirty
minutes. Since seminar is a study hall, I decided not to shadow her during that class.
I attempted to shadow this student on a white day because she has my cooperating teacher s class. I
showed up to the student s first block on Tuesday. The teacher informed me that the student usually
shows up early to class, but neither of us had seen her. When the bell rang, I decided to stay and see if
she showed up. I was informed that she was marked absent. That day in Communications, the students
were to have a reading day, which means that the whole ninety minute class the students were to

The Treatment Philosophy Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Meeting attended: Alcoholics Anonymous, Serenity Group, Urban Ministries, 03/07/2016, 1200.
The treatment philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is that of a 12 step program, additionally,
the group caters to individuals who are recovering, or trying to recover from alcoholism. This group
only focuses on alcohol abuse/misuse and not any other types of addiction. The 12 step program used
by AA uses a person s spirituality to focus their attention on their higher power and how they might
draw strength from it. In the meeting that I attended, the participants concentrated on the first two
steps of the 12 step program. The first step, admitting that the person is/was powerless over alcohol,
opened my eyes due to the fact that I always had thought that the first step was admitting you have a
problem. Although, they come to the same conclusion, the word powerless struck a chord because
being powerless can leave you feeling worthless and weak. The second step, believing that a power
greater than yourself will restore you to sanity, I feel was the absolute focus of this meeting. The
participants read prayers and meditation passages before the meeting really got underway. I looked
around at the faces in the room and I saw peace and acceptance on most faces when they were praying
to their God to give them strength to abstain from alcohol for the day.
After the opening prayers, dedications, meditation, and introductions (to which everyone said their

Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway
By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish
Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing backgrounds and
mental conditions. Clarissa, on one hand, chose the safe route. She married a well off politician, and
lives a materially satisfying lifestyle. However, she constantly questions her life choices and is
plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing herself simply as Mrs. Richard
Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned with her image in society, and she
becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to her role as a politician s wife. Septimus,
on the other hand, risks his life to fight in the war, resulting in a bad case of Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder. In addition, the war hardened him in some ways. After his friend Evans death, Septimus
becomes worries with his lack of an emotional response. He feels a certain detachment from his
feelings, yet imagines Evans throughout the day, perhaps trying to evoke some sort of feeling.
Septimus describes his detachment by explaining that it is as if he [has] been dead, and yet [he is still]
alive (69). While he is physically there, his realization of his emptiness causes him to often zone out
and become absent to the world around him. In this way, Septimus experiences a greater degree of
mental instability than Clarissa. He has seen the horrors of war, giving him the undesirable

The Indus River Valley civilization was an ancient civilization located on a subcontinent called India.
The Indus River Valley civilization was naturally isolated by the Himalayas and the east and west

prone to attacks. A major problem for the Indus River Valley civilization was the constant monsoons it

Cotton was one of the most important items the ancient civilization traded. The Indus River Valley
civilization had one of the largest trade routes of their time, which expanded from Mesopotamia to
China.
The Indus River Valley civilization society was based around a social hierarchy, which was divided
into groups based upon occupations. The highest group of the social hierarchy was the Brahmins, or
also known as priests. The second highest group of the hierarchy was the Kshatriyas, or warriors. The
third group were called the Vaisyas, which consisted of the herders, farmers, artisans, and merchants.
The fourth group consisted of people who had little or no Aryan heritage called the Sudras, they
consisted of farm workers, servants, and other laborers. The lowest group of the social hierarchy was
the dalits, they did work no one else wanted to do. Their social class determined who they could
marry, what kind of education they could get, where they could live, and what jobs they could get.
The Indus River Valley religion was polytheistic, which meant they believed in many god. The ancient

going off of the wear of the summer PT uniform which is a short sleeve shirt, and shorts, which is
usually worn a few hours out of the day. The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is worn 90 percent of a
soldier s time in the military, this has Long sleeves which cover your arms, and pants which cover
your neck. The new revisions should tailor to the uniform that is worn the most. There has been word
of AR 670 1, and DA PAM s 670 1 Policy being revised for soldiers that may have tattoo s on their

Essay on The Politics of Percy Shelley
The Politics of Percy Shelley
Following the French Revolution and Napoleonic wars, Europe was left torn by economic decline,
political turmoil, and uncertainty. Out of these events sprang writers who saw it as their duty to ease
the social and political dilemmas through their inspirational writings. One of these Nineteenth century
writers was Percy Shelley, who is known for the revolutionary and defiant ideas he expressed in his
works. Many of his writings such as A Song: Men of England, The Mask of Anarchy, and
Ozymandias, reflect his radical political approach to solving England s troubles. Although Shelley
does not explicitly voice a cry for socialism, his poems do call for a proletarian response to the ...

This poem was a calling for the workers to unite and defy those who oppressed and impoverished
them. The poem is split into two separate parts, the first, a set of questions such as wherefore plough /
For the lords who lay ye low? ( A Song lines 1 2) and Have ye leisure, comfort, calm, / Shelter, food,
love s gentle balm? ( A Song lines 13 14). This first section attempts to make the workers realize the
low position they are forced in by the upper class, and make them question why they continue to yield
to them. Beginning with the fifth stanza, the second half of the poem incites more anger as it centers
on the greed of the upper class. Here Shelley orchestrated a series of dynamic statements such as The
seed ye sow, another reaps; / The wealth ye find, another keeps ( A Song lines 17 18). These assertions
allow the workers to realize how they are taken advantage of and given nothing in return. Following
these assertions, Shelley placed the most radical stanza containing Sow seed but let no tyrant reap ( A
Song line 21), and Forge arms in your defence to bear ( A Song line 24). These lines act as the climax
of the poem as Shelley calls the workers to stand up for their possessions and themselves. This call to
action is emphasized in the final stanza as with the lines With plough and

Racial Minorities In Theatre
In my English 104 class, we are discussing the theme of exploring the margins. My group will study
the representation of racial minorities in the modern world. I decided to go to the theatre to look into
the lack of representation and the misrepresentation of race. Do people of other races feel like they
have a limited amount of roles to choose from? Do people of other races feel as though they have to
act and look more Caucasian to land classic roles? Does color blind casting change the experience for
the audience? How are many different racial minorities not stereotypically represented? What is being
done to solve this issue? I will also discuss who is affected by this issue and what that may mean for
them. I will argue the possible solutions to increase the representation in theatre. I will refer to the
research I have done on the subject. I will reference Theatre Topics, the Canadian Theatre Review,
Applied Theatre Research, and Theatre Research International. Stereotyping in theatre is a universal
issue for all marginalized actors. This is an important topic to research if you are a part of the theatre
community. To work toward a more equal and accurate representation of the world, the theatre
community needs everyone to work together.

Biological Causes Of Anorexia
There are many causes behind why people suffer from anorexia. The first one would be that it is
genetics that involves the risk for some sort of eating disorder. This would make a person more
vulnerable to having this mental illness more than someone without these genetic factors. Another
common cause is that someone in a person s family suffers from anorexia. This allows a person to
become adjusted to this mental illness, thinking of it as a social norm. They don t understand the risk
factors involving anorexia. Although social media does have an effect on some types of eating
disorders, it has been proven that anorexia is indeed a biological illness, and the best treatment that
can come from this is a biological approach. If the case of genetics being strictly behind the reason for
the eating disorder, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why eating disorders are listed as the most deadly mental illness over anything else. I found out
a number of treatments that can help a person who suffers from anorexia. However, for those that
actually choose to get treatment, the very first thing that should occur is the treatment of the
symptoms, which means that whatever their body is lacking they should be provided the right care for
that specific function. The example that Bradford also uses in her article is that if a person is
dehydrated, that s the first step that should be fixed behind the treatment. When the symptom has been
noted, next would come the action. The action would be to help the person in need to boost their
weight up. However, these treatments aren t just physical, they require a much need for mentally
stabilizing them as well. This is indeed an emotional disorder that requires psychological help. The
patients who go through therapy can then receive antidepressants or any other sort of medication that
their body needs in order to stabilize their brain

Analysis Of The Movie Fight Club
In the movie Fight Club we are introduced to an average, white collared, middle aged man who is
seemingly normal at first glance. However, it is clear that the narrator suffers from insomnia, anxiety,
and depression very early in the film. The narrator attempts to combat these symptoms in a number of
ways, however, the only way that he has found to be effective is by attending support groups on a
nightly basis.
The narrator soon creates an alter ego (though we do not know he is his alter ego until the end of the
film) named Tyler Durden. Durden is more attractive, has a better physique, and is overall more
confident than the narrator and Durden regularly takes control of the narrator without the narrator s
knowledge to carry out tasks that the narrator does not believe he has the power to accomplish. This
use of dissociation is a defense mechanism used by the narrator to remove himself from situations that
may produce anxiety. The narrator has many instances in which he is not able to recollect things that
happened that day or in previous days, such as having sexual relations with Marla (the narrator
envisions Tyler having sexual relations with Marla, while it is him having sexual relations with
Marla). However, it is difficult to reason through whether or not he is having these memory lapses due
to a true dissociative identity disorder (DID) or perhaps due to physical trauma that was sustained
through his fighting. Although the narrator is seen consuming an alcoholic

Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz Summary
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is a demonstration to how a child lives with an alcoholic
father. the Father s addiction to alcohol has a strong effect on the child and his life. The Father also
involves his child into his drunken ways by being abusive towards him. Waltzing is an expression that
the father does because he is drunk. The child still seems to love his father even though he is very
abusive. The child is being dragged into the father s lifestyle. The Theme could be that the waltz was a
dance of the father but now the child is being forced to dance with him.
Imagery is brought when Roethke uses the 5 senses to give off a visual representation of the actions
involved in the drunken affected household. Smell is brought upon

Moon Conspiracy Research Paper
There are many moon conspiracy theories that have been told to people all over the world. Many
people have tried to prove them right and prove them wrong. in, https://pseudoastro.wordpress.com,
spacecentre.co.uk, and in http://www.discovery.com, by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, Scott
Davis, and Stuart Robbins, the authors give evidence to why the fake Moon landing theory is not real.
The conspiracy theory that a man did not land on the moon is well known because of no stars in the
moon photos. The first piece of evidence that we did land on the moon is when the author states, The
reason they are not visible in photos has a lot more to do with photography than with astronomy. Stars
are very dim and the light reflected by the Earth and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first fact to go against the moon landing theory is when Stuart Robbins states, If you have
managed to get this far and still believe this claim, then let s actually get to what s really going on.
Have you ever scanned or photocopied something? If so, you know that any little piece of dirt, hair,
dust, or whatever that gets between your original and your imaging device will show up in the copy.
That is what happened in the case of the infamous C rock a hair (such as an eyelash) or a small piece
of lint got caught between the image and the imager when they were making copies of it. Plain and
simple. In the original photograph (close up shown below), there is no C. This confirms that it was just
some hair or fine particle that came between the camera and the rock. The second piece of evidence
that rebuttals against the moon landing conspiracy theory is when Scott Davis states, But in fact, the
label simply isn t there. The image of the rock is taken from a much larger shot of the Moon s surface,
and if you look at the original image (shown below left), the marking isn t there. Either a small hair or
piece of thread must have got caught in the machine while it was being copied (image below right).
This confirms that there was only something in between the camera and the

Logical Fallacies To Undermine The Argument
What is Logical Fallacy?
A logical fallacy is the use of flaw reasoning that will undermine the argument s logical validity.
Fallacies can be either invalid arguments or irrelevant points, which are frequently identified because
it lacks evidence that supports one s claim.
Fallacies may emerge in situations when someone attempt to deceive others into one s way of thinking
or due to one s negligence or the lack of knowledge.
Fallacies can be grouped in to 2 categories; which is formal and informal fallacies.
A formal fallacy is an argument in which the conclusion may be false whether or not its premises are
correct, because it has an invalid logical structure. An example of a formal fallacy:

Among the 4 candidates in my party, I have a lawyer who works for one of the biggest law firms in
Singapore called Allen and Gledhill LLP. As the Head of Litigation Department in the firm, he has
about 100 lawyers reporting to him.
Straw Man
(Misrepresentation in order to make argument look weak) After Hillary said that we should put more
money into health and education, Trump responded by saying that he was surprised that Obama have
hated the country that he wants to leave it defenceless by cutting military expenditure.
Appeal to Ignorance
(Inference of truth to argument just because it is not known to be false) Until today, science has not
been able to create life from the dead. Therefore, life must be a result of divine intervention.

The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow
Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He
questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if
children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and
studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from
their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire
mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled
in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys
preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the
wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even
for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their
maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist
theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source.
However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete
isolation. His new study, the pit of despair , kept monkeys in isolation for at least a year, and then
would reintroduce them to other children. The effects of isolation resulted in aggressive behavior,

The Cause Of The Dancing Plague Of 1518
The Dancing Plague of 1518 was an occurrence of unknown origin. Although still unsolved, there
have been theories published on the subject. The theories that have been brought to light are mass
hysteria caused by St. Vitus, Ergotism, Tarantism, and an unknown type of heretical cult. None of
these ideas are able to truly explain the abrupt Dancing Plague that occurred in Strasbourg. This is not
the first time this type of event has occurred. Dancing epidemics have also occurred in other areas of
Europe in earlier centuries, but without the same deadly outcome as the 1518 plague. The most
popular theory on the cause of 1518 s Dancing Plague is the mass hysteria theory. John Waller, a firm
supporter of this theory, was able to give very convincing evidence. Although the mass hysteria has
more creditable evidence, it is still not capable of being the exact cause for the Dancing Plague. The
Dancing Plague may be thought of as a faux tale, but there are multiple records to prove that this
occurrence is nowhere near a tale passed on through centuries. The Dancing Plague was and still is
one of the most mysterious events in the 16th century. The Dancing Plague occurred in Strasbourg in
July, 1518. It all began with a woman named Frau Troffea, who began dancing uncontrollably in the
middle of the streets. She did this night and day on her own without stopping for nearly a week. The
disease began to spread to three dozen other victims after a week of Frau Troffea s solo dancing. By

  • 2. The American Of Canadian Foreign Relations Over the course of history Canada has engaged in social, political, economic and cultural relations with various countries. Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canada s identity as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the Americans failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if certain battles favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada was a result of poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were not fully prepared to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of their war capabilities, loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could take advantage and attack the British during the American Revolution. An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for Canada against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec, what is known and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The purpose or motive of the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would ultimately prove to be a failure for the Americans, which is discussed ... • 3. Grand Nursing Theory Paper From the beginning of time, great emphasis has been placed on a need for care due to illness and disease. In the past, medical knowledge in nursing guided and provided the greatest direction for practice. It was not until the 1960 s when Dr. Madeleine Leininger felt there was a need of shift from biomedicine toward integrating culturally sensitive care within the profession of nursing. The goal of the theory has been to use research findings to provide culture specific care that would be culturally congruent, safe, and beneficial to people of diverse or similar cultures for their health, wellbeing, and healing, and to help face disability and death (McFarland, Wehbe Alamah, 2015, p. 6). Utilizing the seven chosen criteria listed in Willis (2002, pp.119 122) Overview of Grand Nursing Theories, including the contemporary social, political, and economic realities, I will be describing and analyzing Madeleine M. Leininger s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality. I will also discuss how Leininger s theory guides my personal practice, potential barriers that may arise while using this theory, and strategies to facilitate the use of the theory. Analysis Background of the theorist Madeleine Leininger worked as a clinical child nurse specialist after obtaining her undergraduate nursing based degree and master s degree (Parker, 2006, p. 309). Her theoretical perspective arose from observations she made during her time spent with children from diverse cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. English Class Reflection I can say with a high degree of confidence that AP Upper Mid English has been unlike any other English course that I have taken during my academic career. Put plainly, the material and in class instruction of the class is revelatory in every sense of the term, and, overall, the organization and matter of the course was exceptional. In terms of the organization of the course as a whole, I believe that the English Department was able to successfully distill all of the dominant aspects of learning that an English class epitomizes into the relatively short period of time that school is in session. In my experience, I have found the class to be organized and structured competently. The schedule, curriculum, and writing assignments were easy to understand and I felt as though I exited the classroom every class feeling as if I accomplished what I had to for that day and I had a definite grip on what to expect for the next class. That being said, I think it is also imperative for me to mention that the course was not overly constricting or overly structured either the schedule had enough malleability to accommodate for impromptu activities. For instance, when Bob Levy, an acclaimed journalist for the Washington Post, visited Taft, our class used our period to have a invigorating conversation with him about the future of Internet Privacy, a conversation that I think was instructive and, in all likelihood, prepared me for the AP Exam just as much as the traditional class that we ... • 6. Experiment to Measure the Concentration of Two Sugars Soda, candy, sweets are extremely tasty because of all the sugar they contain. However, not many people know that there are different types of sugar, and one kind of food can have multiple kinds of sugar. Our bodies actually process the types of sugar differently, and with my science project, I will measure the concentration of two sugars; glucose, and sucrose, in different foods and how sucrose is converted into glucose with an enzyme called invertase, just like it would in our bodies. This will help figure out how the amount of glucose we digest fluctuates with the enzyme converting sucrose into glucose. Sweet tasty foods are one of the hearts great desires. The main reason why they are such a want is due to the sugar in them. The nutrition label often shows how much sugar are in these foods, but the sugar you probably see the most of is sucrose, generally the white granules of sugar used for backing delicious sweets like cupcakes and lollipops. For example, the nutrition label for a 20 fl oz. Dr. Pepper contains 64 g of sugar, and a total of 66g of carbohydrates. Even an original cheesecake from the cheesecake factory contains about 27 grams or more of sugar, with the total amount of carbs being 32 g. With there being several types of sugars, all of them technically being carbohydrates chemical compounds that only have carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and are mainly made by plants. The second type of sugar commonly found in foods is Glucose. In the body, sucrose is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maybe not, but most people have heard these common expression before and would know what they refer to. What most people do not know is that these expressions are being quoted directly out of parts of Shakespeare s work. Although for many it may not be readily apparent, Shakespeare is an extremely influential person. He has affected the arts from literature to theater. Although many people do not realize how important Shakespeare is, he has changed the world. Shakespeare s influence on the English language and literature can be seen through many different ways. One of the ways that Shakespeare has influenced our language is through the vocabulary that he added to our dictionary. Shakespeare had a working vocabulary of more than 30,000 words. But if he did not have a word that he needed in order to adequately describe something, he would simply create and merge existing words together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, most people do not realize that Shakespeare plays such an extremely important role in our dialect every day. Most people who unknowingly use phrases and sayings that have come from Shakespeare on a regular basis do not realize Shakespeare s importance in their lives. • 8. How Did The Crusades Influence The Crusades Emperor Alexius encouraged Pope Urban to rally troops to help confront the Seljuk Turks, whom were trying to invade the Byzantine Empire, in 1081. However, Pope Urban saw it as an opportunity to take back the Holy Land. He rallied a wealthy army, by assuring people that if they went to the holy land and fought that their sins would be forgiven and would assure them a spot in heaven. With that being said, the Christian knights were influenced by Pope Urban to start a vicious and fatal war with the Muslims, which led to the Crusades. The Crusades were a series of religious wars between the Christian knights and Muslims. Christians initiated the wars, in order to gain control of the Holy Land, Jerusalem. According to Wild Horse Education Population control is a phrase used to describe the methods that are utilized by the BLM to achieve what they term as Appropriate Management Level, or AML ( Population Control 1). Appropriate management level is the amount of horses and burros that can thrive in balance with other public land resources and uses. If left uncontrolled, Mother Nature would regulate the population by disease, dehydration, and starvation. The population of the horses would increase causing food to become scarce and the horses to starve. Not controlling the population would be inhumane. • 11. Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And... There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works should be considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are statements by Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the Romantic sick . . . Most of the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it is weak, sickly, and ill, and the old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh, cheerful, and healthy. (Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as this masterpiece is in two separate sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part I and Part II differently. However, Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth and topics and characters of the supernatural, that match the European Romanticism philosophies. Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives. Upon realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies, he strives to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of Romanticism entails a core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to evolve and increase their human potential. Moreover, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A man who has passed away almost two centuries ago, and still yet, a man who has paved the way for American literature. Washington Irving was born in New York, New York on April 3, 1783, and turned to writing once the family s import export business had failed. Realizing that there would be no more means to support himself financially, Irving took up his talent and his passion as his profession. Throughout his life, Irving traveled constantly; from London, England, to Madrid, Spain, as well as the Western prairie frontiers of his homeland. His most renowned work, The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., is a Salmagundi (the title of another of his books) of essays, short stories, and tales heavily influenced by German folklore. In this collection, Irving frequently describes abstract ideas and ongoing situations with the expert use of analogies and metaphors, while expressing the inner heart of his characters with such vivid intensity that they seem to come alive. In addition, Irving proves himself a Jack of all trades by providing subtle satire for the amusement of the reader. The Modern American View Of Disability Gonzalez 1 Odette Gonzalez Professor Jason Tucker WRI 102 L Assignment 1 3 February 2015 The Modern American View of Disability In Rosmarie Garland Thomson: The politics of Staring , expresses how our society has changed over time. She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability. The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. By saying The antecedents of the wondrous disabled figures are the monsters of antiquity, who inspired awe, foretold the future, or bore divine signs, and freaks, who were the celebrities in nineteenth century dime museums and sideshows she shows how ... David Daley, in his book of the same name, describes Republicans incentives in 2010 to take control of state legislatures and control congressional redistricting processes. Republicans were then able to take redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election. Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the legislature. PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD advisor, Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A variety of other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they differ from the creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of scientists were the animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists can use this information to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or at least unobtrusively through a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are interested in how the different deep sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very minimal interactions with humans or man made objects. However, their habitats are too dangerous for humans; I suspect there would not have been as much evolution as seen in land animals, considering the fact that in 2004, Raymond and Widder had spotted a 2 metre squid using Eye of the Sea. EQT is an all equity firm with 1,000 shares outstanding and expected return of 22%. Since there is no growth, EQT will pay out all earnings to shareholders as dividends. In contrast, DBT has $40,000 worth of debt outstanding with interest rate of 5%. There are 500 shares of equity outstanding for DBT Corp. (b) What is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What would be the total equity value if Upjohn were 100% equity finance? 1. (a) Since EQT is an all equity firm, its earnings are $22,000. Thus firm value is the equity value, which is the discounted future dividends, VEQT =EEQT =$22,000/22% =$100,000. Since there are 1,000 share outstanding, price of EQT is: PEQT = $100,000/1,000=$100 per share. DBT is a leveled company. Since DBT and EQT are exactly the same except for their capital structure. We can consider DBT as the leveled company of EQT. According to MMI, when there is no tax, the value of an all equity firm should be equal to the value of the leveled company. Therefore, we have VDBT =VEQT = $100,000. The total equity value of DBT should be EDBT = VDBT DDBT = $100,000 $40,000 = $60,000. Therefore, we have the stock price for DBT: PDBT = $60,000/500=$120 (b) The expected return on DBT: ($22,000 5%*$40,000)/$60,000=33.33%. Therefore DBT is riskier than EQT since EQT has fewer number of equityholders but bears the same total amount of risk. (c) John s total dividend payment from holding 200 shares of EQTT Corp is $4,400 (=22%* ($100*200)). Since DBT is a leveled company, you need to unlevel yourself by selling some of your shares in DBT and deposit the proceeds at the risk free rate. With these generally specific questions, many participants could underestimate the broad scope of what SWB is trying to gauge, and could thus opt out of the survey before fully understanding the product and thus decreasing demand. Various choices of words employed in the survey posses some ambiguity, and that may cause respondents to not understand the question and not seem interested. For example, the word familiar in question 2 and reasonable monthly rate in question 3 don t mean the same thing amongst respondents. For question 2, interval scale could ve been utilized to gauge level of familiarity, and for question 3, price factors may steer customers away from being interested. Analysis and Conclusion The survey administered by Peters Marketing Research for the purpose of measuring customers interest in BELLBOY would tend to understate the true unmet demand for the service due to the sample and questionnaire design. This will be discussed in details as follows. The sampling frame includes only businesses that already have a telephone number with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (SWB). It excludes businesses that currently use other companies services or no services at all. The omission of these organizations would tend to understate true demand as they may be interested in using the BELLBOY service as well. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing | 2012 | | Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing | | | Over the last years the focus of marketing has changed from transactional to relationship marketing because companies realized that is cheaper to keep old customers rather than attracting new ones. Also this shift has occurred because of the intense rivalry that can be noticed in every industry. Besides its main goal of retaining customers and encouraging repeats, relationship marketing also creates value through relationships between buyers and sellers as well inside the organisation, or external with competitors, suppliers and distributors. Improving customer satisfaction and longevity, providing a competitive edge and reducing marketing expenses are just relationship marketing strategies that have a great impact on a company. By adopting this marketing pattern, there are created benefits, not only for the service firm but also for its loyal customers, such as lower marketing expenditures, stability, new barriers for new competitors and reduced uncertainty. A big advantage for the relationship marketing approach is that it lowers the operating costs. Having loyal customers means that the company gets to know its buyers more and more with each transaction. Being based on a relationship approach, a company requires less information about the customer because with each encounter with him, the firm adds new information to the customer database. Strategically, a company based on the relationship marketing, has long term customers increasing their profits. Having more advantages for the customers than a traditional transactional marketing based company, a relationship marketing approach confers the company the possibility of charging more for their services without affecting the number of customers. A good example is the medical industry where a known individual might be willing to pay more for a doctor they know rather than choosing a cheaper competitor. • 22. The Effects Of Elevated Carbon Dioxide ( Co2 ) Essay 2. Impact of Elevated Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a trace gas accounting for about 0.039 per cent or 390 ppm currently. CO2 concentration increases by 1 to 3 ppm every year primarily because of burning of fossil fuels. In future, by 2100 the atmospheric CO2 concentration should reach 600 to 750 ppm. Plants are directly influenced by increase in CO2 concentration; and increase in CO2 affects many physiological processes like photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, reproductive processes, and yield. CO2 diffuses from the atmosphere into leaves, via., stomata into mesophyll cells, intercellular spaces, cells, and finally reach chloroplast for photosynthetic process. Increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere will enhance the photosynthesis and dry matter production. The response to CO2 varies among species mainly by the enzyme RuBisCo (RuBP). C3 plants readily react by increasing the activity of RuBP carboxylase and by reducing the activity of RuBP oxygenase. Increase in photosynthesis by 25% 75% was observed over doubling of atmospheric CO2. C4 plants show little response to elevated CO2. Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) plants also showed an increase in photosynthetic rate. The increasing concentration of CO2 by burning of fossil fuels can be reduced by improving the carbon fixation in the plants. Short term exposure of CO2 on plants shows increased photosynthesis, whereas long term exposure shows variation in photosynthesis and also plant growth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. Analysis Of The Novel Mrs. Richard Dalloway By the end of the novel, it is evident that Woolf uses the Septimus subplot in order to establish Clarissa and Septimus unified vision of an oppressive society, despite their opposing backgrounds and mental conditions. However, she constantly questions her life choices and is plagued by self doubt. She seems to have lost her sense of self, seeing herself simply as Mrs. Richard Dalloway (10). Her lifestyle causes her to become concerned with her image in society, and she becomes burdened by her constant worry about living up to her role as a politician s wife. Septimus, on the other hand, risks his life to fight in the war, resulting in a bad case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition, the war hardened him in some ways. This first section attempts to make the workers realize the low position they are forced in by the upper class, and make them question why they continue to yield to them. Beginning with the fifth stanza, the second half of the poem incites more anger as it centers on the greed of the upper class. Here Shelley orchestrated a series of dynamic statements such as The seed ye sow, another reaps; / The wealth ye find, another keeps ( A Song lines 17 18). These assertions allow the workers to realize how they are taken advantage of and given nothing in return. Following these assertions, Shelley placed the most radical stanza containing Sow seed but let no tyrant reap ( A Song line 21), and Forge arms in your defence to bear ( A Song line 24). • 43. Biological Causes Of Anorexia There are many causes behind why people suffer from anorexia. The first one would be that it is genetics that involves the risk for some sort of eating disorder. This would make a person more vulnerable to having this mental illness more than someone without these genetic factors. Another common cause is that someone in a person s family suffers from anorexia. This allows a person to become adjusted to this mental illness, thinking of it as a social norm. They don t understand the risk factors involving anorexia. Although social media does have an effect on some types of eating disorders, it has been proven that anorexia is indeed a biological illness, and the best treatment that can come from this is a biological approach. This is why eating disorders are listed as the most deadly mental illness over anything else. I found out a number of treatments that can help a person who suffers from anorexia. However, for those that actually choose to get treatment, the very first thing that should occur is the treatment of the symptoms, which means that whatever their body is lacking they should be provided the right care for that specific function. The example that Bradford also uses in her article is that if a person is dehydrated, that s the first step that should be fixed behind the treatment. When the symptom has been noted, next would come the action. The action would be to help the person in need to boost their weight up. However, these treatments aren t just physical, they require a much need for mentally stabilizing them as well. This is indeed an emotional disorder that requires psychological help. The patients who go through therapy can then receive antidepressants or any other sort of medication that their body needs in order to stabilize their brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Analysis Of The Movie Fight Club In the movie Fight Club we are introduced to an average, white collared, middle aged man who is seemingly normal at first glance. However, it is clear that the narrator suffers from insomnia, anxiety, and depression very early in the film. The narrator attempts to combat these symptoms in a number of ways, however, the only way that he has found to be effective is by attending support groups on a nightly basis. The narrator soon creates an alter ego (though we do not know he is his alter ego until the end of the film) named Tyler Durden. Durden is more attractive, has a better physique, and is overall more confident than the narrator and Durden regularly takes control of the narrator without the narrator s knowledge to carry out tasks that the narrator does not believe he has the power to accomplish. This use of dissociation is a defense mechanism used by the narrator to remove himself from situations that may produce anxiety. The narrator has many instances in which he is not able to recollect things that happened that day or in previous days, such as having sexual relations with Marla (the narrator envisions Tyler having sexual relations with Marla, while it is him having sexual relations with Marla). However, it is difficult to reason through whether or not he is having these memory lapses due to a true dissociative identity disorder (DID) or perhaps due to physical trauma that was sustained through his fighting. Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz Summary My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is a demonstration to how a child lives with an alcoholic father. the Father s addiction to alcohol has a strong effect on the child and his life. The Father also involves his child into his drunken ways by being abusive towards him. Waltzing is an expression that the father does because he is drunk. The child still seems to love his father even though he is very abusive. The child is being dragged into the father s lifestyle. The Theme could be that the waltz was a dance of the father but now the child is being forced to dance with him. Imagery is brought when Roethke uses the 5 senses to give off a visual representation of the actions involved in the drunken affected household. Smell is brought upon ... • 46. Moon Conspiracy Research Paper There are many moon conspiracy theories that have been told to people all over the world. Many people have tried to prove them right and prove them wrong. in, https://pseudoastro.wordpress.com, spacecentre.co.uk, and in http://www.discovery.com, by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, Scott Davis, and Stuart Robbins, the authors give evidence to why the fake Moon landing theory is not real. The conspiracy theory that a man did not land on the moon is well known because of no stars in the moon photos. The first piece of evidence that we did land on the moon is when the author states, The reason they are not visible in photos has a lot more to do with photography than with astronomy. Stars are very dim and the light reflected by the Earth and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first fact to go against the moon landing theory is when Stuart Robbins states, If you have managed to get this far and still believe this claim, then let s actually get to what s really going on. Have you ever scanned or photocopied something? If so, you know that any little piece of dirt, hair, dust, or whatever that gets between your original and your imaging device will show up in the copy. That is what happened in the case of the infamous C rock a hair (such as an eyelash) or a small piece of lint got caught between the image and the imager when they were making copies of it. Plain and simple. In the original photograph (close up shown below), there is no C. This confirms that it was just some hair or fine particle that came between the camera and the rock. The second piece of evidence that rebuttals against the moon landing conspiracy theory is when Scott Davis states, But in fact, the label simply isn t there. The image of the rock is taken from a much larger shot of the Moon s surface, and if you look at the original image (shown below left), the marking isn t there. Either a small hair or piece of thread must have got caught in the machine while it was being copied (image below right). This confirms that there was only something in between the camera and the ... • 47. Logical Fallacies To Undermine The Argument What is Logical Fallacy? A logical fallacy is the use of flaw reasoning that will undermine the argument s logical validity. Fallacies can be either invalid arguments or irrelevant points, which are frequently identified because it lacks evidence that supports one s claim. Fallacies may emerge in situations when someone attempt to deceive others into one s way of thinking or due to one s negligence or the lack of knowledge. Fallacies can be grouped in to 2 categories; which is formal and informal fallacies. • 48. The Pros And Cons Of Harry Harlow Harry Harlow, American psychologist, surrounded in controversy, drove psychologists bananas. He questioned whether children established relationships with their maternal figures because food, or if children established relationships based off of other factors. To test this theory, Harlow bred and studied the rhesus monkeys to determine what is the basis of a bond. Separating the children from their mother, Harlow introduced surrogate parents, the wire mother and the cloth mother. The wire mother was wooden and metal contraption with a bottle for food, while the cloth mother was swaddled in the same fabric that lined the children s cages. The results were overwhelming, with the monkeys preferring the cloth mother for the majority of the time. The monkeys would often only resort to the wire mother, when necessary and preferred the cloth mother in times of duress, confusion, and even for a sense of security. He concluded that children, regardless of species, formed bonds with their maternal figures because they give the child a sense of security/comfort, contrasting the behaviorist theory that children only established bonds due to their caretakers being their only food source. However, Harlow did not stop here, he continued his research and tested the effects of complete isolation. His new study, the pit of despair , kept monkeys in isolation for at least a year, and then would reintroduce them to other children. The effects of isolation resulted in aggressive behavior, ... • 49. The Cause Of The Dancing Plague Of 1518 The Dancing Plague of 1518 was an occurrence of unknown origin. Although still unsolved, there have been theories published on the subject. The theories that have been brought to light are mass hysteria caused by St. Vitus, Ergotism, Tarantism, and an unknown type of heretical cult. None of these ideas are able to truly explain the abrupt Dancing Plague that occurred in Strasbourg. This is not the first time this type of event has occurred. Dancing epidemics have also occurred in other areas of Europe in earlier centuries, but without the same deadly outcome as the 1518 plague. The most popular theory on the cause of 1518 s Dancing Plague is the mass hysteria theory. John Waller, a firm supporter of this theory, was able to give very convincing evidence. Although the mass hysteria has more creditable evidence, it is still not capable of being the exact cause for the Dancing Plague. The Dancing Plague may be thought of as a faux tale, but there are multiple records to prove that this occurrence is nowhere near a tale passed on through centuries. The Dancing Plague was and still is one of the most mysterious events in the 16th century. The Dancing Plague occurred in Strasbourg in July, 1518. It all began with a woman named Frau Troffea, who began dancing uncontrollably in the middle of the streets. She did this night and day on her own without stopping for nearly a week. The disease began to spread to three dozen other victims after a week of Frau Troffea s solo dancing. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
