• Tim Berners-Lee, 1989: issued a Request for
Comment n° 1945 / 2616 proposing the
adoption of another set of protocol under the
TCP/IP (Internet Protocol) protocol: HTTP
• HTTP: is a “daemon” (a program) running on a
server system hidden and waiting for query on
a given TCP/IP address and a specific given
port address
• Example: http://192.168.1.121:8080 (port)
