W HAT IS A UTHENTIC
                                        L EADERSHIP
   a 2008 article published in the Journal of Management entitled “Authentic
    Leadership: Development and Validation of a Theory-Based Measure,” by Fred
    Walumbwa and 4 other co-authors.

A pattern of leader behavior that draws upon and promotes both
    positive psychological capacities and a positive ethical climate,
    to foster greater self-awareness, an internalized moral
    perspective, balanced processing of information, and relational
    transparency on the part of leaders working with followers,
    fostering positive self-development. (p. 94).
   I say blah blah blah??


   Dr Simmons says   “What?”
    Seeks feedback to    improve interactions                                        with others




                                          Accurately                     escribes how others view his or her capabilities




   Says   exactly       what he or she means




                                   Is willing to   admit mistakes                                                                 when they are made

   Nurture the first few followers as equals

   Leadership is over glorified, the first follower turned the lone
    nut into a leader

   There is no movement without the first follower

   If we were all leaders, it would be really ineffective

   The first follower is the most courageous, and they show the
    others how to follow
