9. WHAT CHALLENGES DID JOSIAH FACE?

10. He Repairs the Temple And let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen who have oversight of the house of the Lord, and let them give it to the workmen who are in the house of the Lord to repair the damages of the house, to the carpenters and the builders and the masons and for buying timber and hewn stones to repair the house. (2 Kings 22:5 – 6)

11. He Recovers the Law Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king. And it came about when the king heard the words of the book of the law, that he tore his clothes. (2 Kings 22:10 – 11)

12. He Renews the Covenant The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD— to follow the LORD and keep his commands, regulations and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant. (2 Kings 23:3)

He Reforms the Nation Just as he had done at Bethel, Josiah removed and defiled all the shrines at the high places that the kings of Israel had built in the towns of Samaria that had provoked the LORD to anger. Josiah slaughtered all the priests of those high places on the altars and burned human bones on them. Then he went back to Jerusalem. (2 Kings 23: 19 – 20)
