Looking Back…
      …and Forward
•Blogging
•Twitter
•Web Based Courses
•Infographics
•Copyrights and Piracy
•Sharing and
Connecting
•Podcasts
•Hesitant at first, then got into it.
•An amazing way to reflect on new
knowledge, and even on the old.
 •Better than just taking notes.
•A different way to connect with
 others.
•Allows people to put their voice out
 „on display.‟
•Gives a voice to those who many not
 usually get to have one.
•Better than using journals in a
 classroom for student reflection.

Blogging
@scott_taylor87
 Used it before the @miken_bu
class, but use it a lot
    more now. #edchat
 Able to connect with
    people you never @courosa
    thought you could.
 If used right, can be
    one massive
    resource, in 140
    characters or less. @chrislehmann

Twitter
 Distance learning,
    without all the mail.
 An amazing way for
students to learn if they BLACKBOARD
are unable to make it to
    school (teen
    pregnancies, injuries,
    etc).
 More practical for higher
    grades - not as practical
    for the earlier years.
 Personal opinion – not a
    big fan.

Web Based Courses
 Very… very creative! A
    whole new way to
    display information.
 Difficult…very difficult.
    I need some more time
    to get used to them.
 Amazing way for
    students to organize
    and present data… ANY
    DATA!
 Visual.ly or infogr.am!!

Infographics
 Apparently downloading
                 isn‟t illegal, but sharing
                 is. I guess mom
                 teaching me to share
                 when I was little was
just setting me up for a
                 life of crime.
                Copyrights are intended
                 to protect an individual‟s
                 created work. Makes
                 sense to protect that.
                Proper attributions are a
                 necessity

Copyrights and Piracy
 Learning from the
  Internet is a two-way
  street. Don‟t just
  consume… give back
  as well.
 Many ways to do this…
  Twitter, blogging,
  websites, etc.
                          •Pure consumption leans
                          towards the “Internet is
                          making us dumber”
                          argument.
                          •I see the Internet as
                          one massive
Sharing collaborative project.
 Important to get yourself out there and
  connect with others.
 Twitter, Facebook, email, Skype, and blogs
are just a small handful of examples.
 Expanding your connections just adds to
the community aspect of the web.

Connecting
My Personal Learning Network
Podcasts
What I will use…
 Have to get myself out
  there
 Meet and Greet!
 Keep Blogging
 Use Ning more
 Make videos, because
  it‟s a lot of fun
 Don‟t stop sharing
 Who knows where I‟ll
end up if I put all my
  effort into these
  areas…

Overall…
 Learned more than I can remember
 Thanks Mike, you showed us many new
ways to use the Internet in the classroom,
and introduced us to a lot of amazing
                  educators!
 Thanks to everyone for helping create a
          collaborative atmosphere
 Good luck to all of you in the future!

To Conclude…
 Pictures courtesy of Microsoft Office for
               Mac, or from myself
             Internet for Educators
