2. TYPE OF CULT
Scientology is a body of beliefs and related practices
created by L.Ron Hubbard (1911–1986), starting in 1952, as a
successor to his earlier self-help system, Dianetics.
Dianetics uses a counseling technique known as auditing,
developed by Hubbard to enable conscious recall of
traumatic events in an individual's past.
It was originally intended to be a new psychotherapy
and was not expected to become the foundation for a
new religion. Hubbard variously defined Dianetics as a
spiritual healing technology and an organized science of
thought.
3. • The stated intent of Dianetics is to free individuals of
the influence of past traumas by systematic exposure
and removal of the engrams these events have left
behind, in a process called clearing.
• Hubbard characterized Scientology as a religion,
• The essential tenets of Scientology are these:
▫ You are an immortal spiritual being.
▫ Your experience extends well beyond a single lifetime.
▫ Your capabilities are unlimited, even if not
presently realized.
4. • Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is
asked to accept anything on faith alone. On the
contrary, one discovers for oneself that the principles
of Scientology are true by applying its principles and
observing or experiencing the results.
• The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual
enlightenment and freedom for all
5. LEADER
Leader of Church of Scientology :
• David Miscavige
• He is the Chairman of the Board of

• An active Scientologist for most of his life, he
first became a Church staff member in 1976 and
has since been involved with nearly every
aspect of the Church's activities.
6. • Mr. David Miscavige studied to become a
Scientology minister and for several years he
provided spiritual counseling to parishioners. He
later worked closely with L. Ron Hubbard, aiding in
the production of instructional films and materials for
Scientology ministers-in-training.
• In 1987, Mr. Miscavige became the Chairman of the
Board of Religious Technology Center.
7. • As the worldwide ecclesiastical leader of the
Scientology religion, a role he has held for over 25
years, the church has experienced unprecedented
expansion of the religion as a worldwide movement.
• Reflected in more than 11,000 churches, missions and
groups across 167 nations - is due in no small part to
his unflagging dedication to upholding the purity and
integrity of L. Ron Hubbard's legacy.
8. SCIENTOLOGY
PRINCIPLES
• Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in
relationship to itself, others and all of life.
• In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as
belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what
you have observed to be true. An individual
discovers for himself that Scientology works by
personally applying its principles and observing or
experiencing results.
9. • While the hope for spiritual freedom is ancient, what
Scientology is doing is new. The way it is organized
is new. The technologies with which it can bring
about a new state of being in Man are likewise new.
• Because Scientology addresses Man as a spiritual
being, it stands completely apart from other fields
which see Man as a product of his environment or his
genes—fixed in the limitations under which he
was born.
10. • From these principles, exact methods by which one
can improve conditions were derived. And unlike
other efforts of improvement, which offered only
rules by which men should live, Scientology offers
real tools for use in everyday life. Thus, it does not
depend upon a system of beliefs or faith.
