This document discusses management information systems. It defines management as getting work done through people in organized groups using managerial functions like planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling. It defines information as processed data that assists decision makers. It defines a system as a set of interrelated components that work together toward a common goal. A management information system processes data into information to help management make decisions and monitor organizational activities at different levels from operations to strategy.
