1. Life, Love, Happiness -- What's Life Really?
Psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl once wrote, "Life is never made unbearable by
circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose." For most people, feeling joyful and finding
life meaningful are targets that are both important and related. But do meaning and happiness go
together? It seems unlikely, given that a lot of the items that we often pick to do - to raising children,
from running marathons - are unlikely to raise our day-to-day happiness.
I find life fun, fascinating, entertaining, an innovative experience... though I accept that it may be
taken away at any time, and that means you should be happy with your daily life and willing to
expire for any specified minute. Morbid? No. Honest? Yes.
