Swimming Teacher in Brazil Physical Education Bachelor Degree
Swimming for babies and children based on Psychomotricity Since1993, Via Esporte decided to develop a formative swimming experience, based on the education and health science Psychomotricity
OurAim ...is not only the baby and child’s security and motor development...
OurAim ...involves global development, which means, psychomotor development (mental, cognitive and affective) besides health and education.
TheMainPurpose To provide the children a pleasurable learning process in order to make them want to do it.
Pleasure Through pleasure, we are able to grab the child’s attention and then, make the learning process more comfortable and effective.
TheTeacherNeeds to be familiar with the vestibular system - balance (rotation, inclination and changing directions) to know the infantile development.
TasksandChallenges according to their capacity, changing the intensity of the exercises, the way you talk to them and the type of activity
Classes for all ages have exercises to develop survival awareness, security and rescue procedures, swimming techniques, activities involving playful psychomotor experiences ex: jump form different heights, hand stop, somersault, etc.
Classes for all ages Experiences not only give children pleasure, as they think they are only playing, but also increase their psychomotor experience.
KnowingtheirBodies ...as they are relaxed or tense, they realise where is up, down, front, back, forward, backwards, etc.
KnowingtheirBodies Having an experienced and known body (enriched with perceptions and movements) will contribute to their next development stage - literacy.
PsychomotorExperience each psychomotor experience (games/activities), interspersed with swimming, will have a reason which will lead to an advance on the learning process with pleasure.
PsychomotorExperience They can somersault on the rug and soon they will be able perform somersault when swimming crawl or backstroke
GroupsDivision In order to develop this work during the swimming classes, it was necessary to divide the groups according to their ages and swimming abilities.
GroupsDivision To make the children feel comfortable and motivated to advance in their groups, we decided to name the levels using animals names.
Baby 1 – 03 to11 months(withtheirparents in thewater) AIM: development and evolution of immersion, dorsal floating development of psychomotor abilities from this age group. E.g.: roll, sit, crawl and walk.
Baby 2 – 12 to23 months(withtheirparents in thewater) AIM: developmentandevolutionofimmersionwithmoving developmentofpsychomotorabilitiesfromthis age group. E.g: walk, jump, grabandclimb.
Baby 3 -Little Seal - 24 to 35months(withtheteacheronly) This level is divided in 2 groups: the ones who are and the ones who are not adapted to the water. AIM: “Survival swimming” and displacements
LittleDuck– 03 to 04 years Aim: adaptation of the sensory system and moving.
LittleFish– 03 years for those kids who started swimming when they were babies. Aim: “survival swimming” and having the experience of the 4 rudimentary swimming movements.
Other levels are divided into following age groups 05 to 06 years 07 to 09 years 10 to12 years over 13 years
Medusafish Seahorse Astyanax Aim: learning side-breathing and having the experience of the 4 rudimentary swimming movements. Aim: adaptation of the sensory system and moving. Aim: total survival and having the experience of the 4 rudimentary swimming movements.
Dolphin Shark Aim: breaststroke coordination, development of front crawl and backstroke. Aim: coordination of butterfly stroke, development of front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and “flip turns” .
Improvement Training Aim: learning the technical details of swimming and the increase of the child’s physical condition Aim: development of competitive abilities or for those who do not want to compete, only keep on swimming for pleasure and improving their abilities.
