An award-winning web series for any underdog who never gives up.
“Jane is everywoman in the
world trying to get it together to
pursue her dream. It’s a
smorgasbord of emotions.”

Jane Singer is a single actress of a
certain age who believes her
dreams are still worth fighting for.
Whether it's navigating auditions,
ageism, cocktail parties, crazy day
jobs or strange suitors, Jane proves
that fortitude is victory by holding
fast to her Midwestern values and
not letting the nut balls or the cynics
win. Yes, Jane overcomes daunting
obstacles daily. Hourly. Including
herself. Jane Singer: too nice to
succeed; too tenacious to give up.

Now What?
Rebecca Klingler is an award-winning actress best known for her
cameos in block-buster movies like Copy Cat, Titanic, and LA
Confidential, and for her roles on the TV shows Weeds, True
Blood, and The Odd Couple, to name a few.
Rebecca’s acting career did not begin with film and television,
however. In fact, she came to LA at an age often thought to be
too late to break in. But Rebecca, a native of Indiana, had spent
her 20’s & 30’s working in repertory and avant guard theatre
companies around the country, including San Francisco, where
she became a member of the Obie-Award winning, SF Mime
Troupe. Working with the Mime Troupe solidified her love of
broad comedy and the emotional impact it can induce.
Not until some years after coming to LA, having become
frustrated with the lack of work available for women in her age
bracket, did Rebecca reignite that love, when she and fellow
Univ. of Evansville alums, Nancy Beverly and Neil Wilson
created the web series The Calamities of Jane.
Rebecca not only stars in the title role, but she produced it as
well. “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but shooting it was
probably the happiest I’ve ever been,” says Rebecca. “There is
nothing like working with an ensemble you love, to tell a story
that expresses your own version of the human condition.” The
series has won awards at two film festivals so far and has been
accepted into the LA Femme International Film Festival.
“Had I taken another path, I’d be looking forward to retiring,”
says Klingler. “For better or worse, I feel like I’m just beginning. I
choose for better!” Next stop? Season Two!

Nancy Beverly has worked on such hit TV shows as
Desperate Housewives and Ghost Whisperer (Big
personalities! Long hours!) but much more rewarding
for her has been co-writing and co-producing Jane as
well as producing her film Shelby’s Vacation, which just
finished shooting in the fall of 2016. She’s been a
proud member of the play development group Fierce
Backbone since 2009 where she polished her drama
Handcrafted Healing (which Fierce produced in 2015)
and her comedy Community (which made the top 12 of
a national playwriting contest). Nancy’s professional
life began at Actors Theatre of Louisville where she
acted as dramaturg on a number of Humana Festival
plays – and had several of her own short plays
produced.
