Colossians 2:6-19
6-8 So then, just as you received Christ
Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in
him, rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were
taught, and overﬂowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive
through hollow and deceptive philosophy,
which depends on human tradition and
the elemental spiritual forces of this world
rather than on Christ.

9-12 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity
lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have
been brought to fullness. He is the head over
every power and authority. In him you were
also circumcised with a circumcision not
performed by human hands. Your whole self
ruled by the ﬂesh was put off when you were
circumcised by Christ, having been buried with
him in baptism, in which you were also raised
with him through your faith in the working of
God, who raised him from the dead.

13-15 When you were dead in your sins
and in the uncircumcision of your ﬂesh,
God made you alive with Christ. He
forgave us all our sins, having canceled the
charge of our legal indebtedness, which
stood against us and condemned us; he
has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
And having disarmed the powers and
authorities, he made a public spectacle of
them, triumphing over them by the cross.


16-18 Therefore do not let anyone judge
you by what you eat or drink, or with
regard to a religious festival, a New Moon
celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a
shadow of the things that were to come; the
reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not
let anyone who delights in false humility and
the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a
person also goes into great detail about
what they have seen; they are puffed up with
idle notions by their unspiritual mind.

19 They have lost connection with the
head, from whom the whole body,
supported and held together by its
ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes
it to grow.

Christ has chosen to place all of
his fullness where?


Inside of you!


Spurgeon on Christ
All the attributes of Christ, as God and
man...he has made...subservient to our
salvation. His omnipotence, omniscience,
omnipresence, immutability and infallibility, are
all combined for our defence. Arise, believer,
and behold the Lord Jesus yoking the whole of
his divine Godhead to the chariot of salvation!
How vast his grace, how ﬁrm his faithfulness,
how unswerving his immutability, how inﬁnite
his power, how limitless his knowledge!


All these are by the Lord Jesus made the
pillars of the temple of salvation...The
fathomless love of the Saviour's heart is every
drop of it ours; every sinew in the arm of
might, every jewel in the crown of majesty, the
immensity of divine knowledge, and the
sternness of divine justice, all are ours, and
shall be employed for us. The whole of Christ,
in his adorable character as the Son of God, is
by himself made over to us most richly to
enjoy.


His wisdom is our direction, his knowledge
our instruction, his power our protection, his
justice our surety, his love our comfort, his
mercy our solace, and his immutability our
trust...Oh! how sweet thus to behold Jesus,
and to call upon him with the certain
conﬁdence that in seeking the interposition of
his love or power, we are but asking for that
which he has already faithfully promised.

Entertainment is a vehicle to help
us fulﬁll personal desires

that break useless taboos, accompanied
by advertising of products that stimulate
our primary desire for self-fulﬁllment in
the pleasures in life—sex, possessions,
and power]


Lie! Entertainment...
[The media are the primary conduits of the
destructive messages about the person, the
family, and society. They mold and dictate our
views of what is acceptable in popular
culture, and they shape reality to ﬁt a
Darwinist-postmodern worldview. They
manipulate us by emphasizing image over
authenticity and self-indulgence over self-
sacriﬁce, and they desensitize us to
exploitative sex and violence.]


Lie! Entertainment...
Mark Harris comments “the majority of studio
movies are aimed” at men under 25, whom,
evidence suggests, will watch anything “as long
as it’s spiked with the proper set of
stimulants.” If you’re not an immature male,
there’s increasingly little for you to see at the
movies.
