2. Action Item 1: Global Workgroup Motion: GW should focus on developing a distance learning orientation with content to support student success and on how best to deliver the orientation. We propose this list of tasks and timeline be approved as part of this action item.

GW Task List Steve Sachs will be the ASAC and Educational Technology Committee representative on the Global Workgroup Ask each of the constituent groups to nominate a participant who is familiar with distance learning (VPs, Deans & Directors, Tech Council, eLET, Student Services, Student Information Systems, System office IT, CFAC) Determine chair Develop objectives and outcomes for the orientation Determine ideal delivery methods

4. Task List continued Choose or develop an orientation product, investigating existing third party products such as Blackboard’s orientation Investigate what VCCS colleges have already developed Examine connections to readiness assessments such as READI Plan and propose a pilot implementation Review results and revise orientation as necessary Make recommendation to ASAC Educational Technology Committee

5. Timeline Select participants—by Feb. 1 Meet and select chair – by March 1 GW gets input from eLET and communicates GW’s workplan to ASAC at the May 26 meeting Formal pilot no later than spring 2012 Student success data related to pilot presented at first fall 2012 ASAC meeting

6. Discussion Item 1: Intellectual Property report The committee discussed a draft set of changes to Section 12 (Intellectual Property) of the VCCS Policy Manual and comments from System Counsel, Rita Woltz. As a result of committee discussions, a revised set of proposed changes will be sent to System Counsel for her review.

7. InformationItem: eLET Report eLET committee met via web conferencing Oct. 23, 2010 Small group was designated to revise the Guidelines and Best Practices document It will be presented at the eLET Feb. meeting
