2. Goals of evaluation
Each activity should be finished with at least a
short feedback.
In eTwinning projects it is essential to get feedback
all the more that the projects are done in the
Internet, mostly with only virtual communication.
Thus, there is no or little possibility to sum all the
activities up with face-to-face contact.
3. Goals of evaluation
Overall evaluation of the project has 2 major
functions:
to give feedback on how well the objectives of the
project were achieved,
to improve or enhance next projects.
4. Forms of evaluation
There are different forms of evaluating the project.
Teachers running eTwinning projects mention:
Giving opinions on the forum, blogs, websites,
Leaving comments on online corkboards (such as
Padlet, NoteApp),
Writing reports by the students,
Making short videos,
Preparing diagrams.
5. Forms of evaluation
However, the most appropriate form of evaluation
is still a SURVEY. First of all, it might be
anonymous (thus, the results are reliable).
Secondly, it does not take much time to complete
it. Thirdly, the questions are prepared by teachers
and therefore, they concentrate on the essence,
omitting less important aspects.
6. Evaluation survey
There are certain directives that should be taken
into consideration while preparing such survey.
8. Evaluation survey
2. Number of questions is relevant –
too many questions will discourage
respondents. Too few questions will
not bring expected results.
9. Evaluation survey
3. Each question should focus on
one problem/aspect. We should
avoid questions which may be
confusing or too difficult.
10. Evaluation survey
4. The language of the survey ought
to be clear and simple. We have to
avoid double negatives and
complex statements. If we prepare
surveys for pupils, we should bear
in mind they may not understand
difficult terms.
11. Evaluation survey
5. In case of multiple choice
questions let’s try to limit the
number of answers. Too many
options may not give us precise
feedback.
12. Evaluation survey
6. Survey should be consistent and
reasonable. It’s a good idea to make
a draft of our questionnaire first
and then decide on the order of
questions. The rule for questions is
‘from more general ones to more
specific’.
13. Evaluation survey
Last but not least, when we collect responses we
may show the overall report to our students. They
will feel more responsible for the project then, and
also more decisive. The better (more satisfied)
students, the better project, isn’t it like that?
