INTPART International Partnerships
for Excellent Education and Research in Information Technology (IPIT)
2
Goals
• The main objective is to develop a highly
visible international consortium, composed
from world’s leading institutions in the area, in
order to: 1) share best practices, and 2) build
and strengthen academic cooperation in
Information Technology (IT). The main grant
awarded with thematic relevance to the IPIT
project application is: the SFU Centre for
Excellent IT Education
I think about the world (Professor Monica Divitini
sometimes in early 2000 when I was complaining about a small
local issue)
Make IT an attractive study choice for
young people
Norway in the forefront of innovative IT
education
4
Areas of research
and action
Recruiting a diversity of young people
into IT studies
1st year as an IT student: identity,
community, study habits
Courses / projects involving
learning through construction Learning arenas across
campuses: sharing and reflecting
Career readiness / employability;
collaboration with industry: courses,
student projects Learn more at:

Challenges and Objectives
• Challenge 1: Students choose to visit places with weak connections between
departments at research and administration level.
• Objective 1: Establish sustainable long term strategic research and education
partnerships with the International partners to increase synergy
• Challenge 2: IDI’s International Master in Information Systems have few places
allocated by the University and it is not extremely popular
• Objective 2: Increase quality and popularity of IDI’s International offers at Master
Level
• Challenge 3: Many students choose not to travel abroad as they may lose the
possibility for summer jobs

visits for scientific personnel; Short exchange of administrative personnel.
Reciprocal Mobility of students (Objective 2 and 3)
– Activities: a) Student Workshop at NTNU; b) Incoming International visits for the
most qualified and motivated bachelor students to NTNU to attract them to NTNU
International Master and PhD programs
Research Workshops and Empirical studies (Objective 4)
– Activities: Strategic planning of common research activities and laboratories
(including how to apply for common projects beyond IPIT). Pilot the new teaching
methods in concrete courses (e.g. software engineering courses); Empirical
studies in which students act both as subjects and researchers; Master (and
Bachelor) level activities like summer courses and hackathons

Notas do Editor

  1. Challenge 1: Students choose to visit the places that other students have visited before with weak connections between departments at research and administration level. A lot of effort to find scientific focus and approve study plans of both outgoing and incoming students is required. Objective 1: Establish sustainable long term strategic research and education partnerships with the International partners to increase synergy and minimize clerical work Challenge 2: IDI’s International Master in Information Systems have few places allocated by the University and it is not extremely popular Objective 2: Increase quality and popularity of IDI’s International offers at Master Level and increase the number of incoming students Challenge 3: Many students choose not to travel abroad as they may lose the possibility for summer jobs Objective 3: Improve the economic and structural conditions of outgoing students so that the number of outgoing NTNU students will increase to reach the final goal of 40% Challenge 4: Research based education is our pillar. However, there is not enough awareness of research practices among students. Objective 4: Stronger connection between Research and Education - students need to become more aware of research processes by acting as young researchers and to be part of experiments (i.e. offering research experiences for our students).
