• Hopefully helpful & a bit of fun!

•Iwanted to get on the mobile tech curve
for work
• And for me ;-)
• Barriers:
• $$$ (personal & corporate)

• Corporate:
• Beneficial to teaching & learning. (?)
• Lots of general articles saying both good and bad, but needed to see for
ourselves
• Improve the technological stance of NMIT (image is important)
• Stay on the leading edge (from an IT teacher's perspective) or else...
• Be innovative and have fun!
• Personal:
• Stay current
• Be innovative and have fun!
• Use in my personal world -> work life balance challenge here!
• Geek tool (toy :-P )

6. •But who's going to pay?
• Probably me - but I can't afford it
• So... who can help me and yet have some WIFFM too?
• Firstly management: already open to innovation
• Secondly retailers: keen to sell
• Pitched a case to both using WIIFM

7. •Outcome
• Management:
• Agreed to a contribution
• Contingent upon report of usage after one year
• Staff:
• 50+ took up the offer (academic vs. non-academic)
• Happy (I think)
• Currently ~70 iPads on campus
• Gotchas…
