Vance Stevens - I teach EFL at the UAE Air College in Al Ain,
UAE, but that’s just my day job. I've been involved in online
learning since way last century, as founder of a movement that
became Webheads in Action, still a robust community. I have
been a coordinator of the TESOL / CALL-IS Electronic Village
Online for almost 15 years and have moderated several 5-week
online sessions there ranging from Multiliteracies and MOOCs to
Minecraft. In 2010 I started a weekly webinar series called
Learning2gether. Learning2gether provides weekly opportunities
for educators to share their expertise online, but it also
inventories and archives a microcosm of what is going on at any
given moment in the universe of online professional
development, which is what informs my MMVC16 presentation.
I have been an English teacher for over 7 years now. I hold a bachelor’s
degree in English and two post graduate online degrees from the
University of Oregon thanks to two scholarships granted by the USA
Embassy in Bolivia (Webskills and Introduction to TESOL Methods). I am
studying online to get my TESOL certificate from the Arizona State
University via Coursera. In July 2016, I am starting a double Master: a
Ma TESOL and a Máster Universitario en Lingüística Aplicada a la
enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera. I have hosted many
webinars on WizIQ during different MOOCs to share the valuable
knowledge that I had the blessing to get. I am a grammar enthusiast.
You can find all my Grammar Guides posted on eslprintables.com. I tutor
students for TOEFL and TOEFL IBT tests lately. It is great to see them
thrive and get great scores. I believe in learning as a way of living and
teaching as a way of giving back to our community.

Dani Novak - Born in Israel in 1949, BA and MA
from the Technion in Haifa and PhD in Pure Math
from the University of Connecticut. Taught for 33
years at Ithaca College. Designed new courses:
Math Art and Math Fun that connects Math with
Music, Art and Life. I am looking for opportunities
to share the beauty of Math with people in the US
and other countries. I want to inspire teachers,
administrators and parents to free themselves from
the shackles of a dysfunctional systems that rob
young students from their natural math abilities
and teaches them incompetence.
Julie Pratten is originally from the UK, currently living in Turkey. After teaching both
business and general English in 20 countries or more, including Brazil, Germany, Lithuania
and Paraguay, I entered the world of finance via the Czech Republic, after I designed a
series of courses for the Czech National Bank. I have since written several business and
finance titles, including ‘Absolute Financial English’, the main course book for the
Cambridge ESOL ‘ICFE examination’ and ‘Absolute Financial English’ (Delta).
Nowadays I live in Turkey, with my husband, two cats, dogs and chickens. Although I live
in a rural setting, just a stone’s throw away from the sea, I provide language consultancy
for several financial institutions and deliver courses at the Banks Association of Turkey
and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. My current interests include developing
mobile applications for EAP and recent applications include ‘Brighton Study Kit’ and
‘Academic Flip Words’. I have just set up the independent platform ‘Academic Study Kit’.
Currently, I am working on the business English course book ‘Good Business English’; this
modular course uses sustainable and ethical business models as vehicles for teaching
business English. In my opinion, this is the only way forward.
In September I set up Heart ELT, a project aimed at establishing a school for Syrian
children living in a refugee camp in Iraq.

I have been a coordinator of the TESOL / CALL-IS Electronic Village Online for almost 15 years and have moderated several 5-week online sessions there ranging from Multiliteracies and MOOCs to Minecraft. In 2010 I started a weekly webinar series called Learning2gether. Learning2gether provides weekly opportunities for educators to share their expertise online, but it also inventories and archives a microcosm of what is going on at any given moment in the universe of online professional development, which is what informs my MMVC16 presentation.

  • 34. Julie Pratten is originally from the UK, currently living in Turkey. After teaching both business and general English in 20 countries or more, including Brazil, Germany, Lithuania and Paraguay, I entered the world of finance via the Czech Republic, after I designed a series of courses for the Czech National Bank. I have since written several business and finance titles, including ‘Absolute Financial English’, the main course book for the Cambridge ESOL ‘ICFE examination’ and ‘Absolute Financial English’ (Delta). Nowadays I live in Turkey, with my husband, two cats, dogs and chickens. Although I live in a rural setting, just a stone’s throw away from the sea, I provide language consultancy for several financial institutions and deliver courses at the Banks Association of Turkey and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. My current interests include developing mobile applications for EAP and recent applications include ‘Brighton Study Kit’ and ‘Academic Flip Words’. I have just set up the independent platform ‘Academic Study Kit’. Currently, I am working on the business English course book ‘Good Business English’; this modular course uses sustainable and ethical business models as vehicles for teaching business English. In my opinion, this is the only way forward. In September I set up Heart ELT, a project aimed at establishing a school for Syrian children living in a refugee camp in Iraq.
