2.  Oceans take up 71% of our Earth, yet they are so vast and deep
that they are often hard to research and observe. Today, most of
our research of oceans derive from technological sources.
Because of this, students will be presented with forms of
technology to be able to understand that such sources are
needed for better observation and analysis. Through the use of
technology, students can explore images, video footage, and
online research studies of oceans to help their discoveries!
 Technology also aids student learning by tapping in to the
different Multiple Intelligences and sense, allowing for the
greater population of the class to understand the material in a
variety of ways.

This specific podcast includes an interview
discussing the deep sea submersible
vehicle. Scientists use this to capture
footage from deep within the ocean.
Overall, this podcast would, again,
emphasize the necessity for technology in
terms of oceanic exploration.
Overall, The Naked Scientists have a wide-
range of podcasts for countless of topics!
They are perfect for delivering information
to students in a different method.

4. Ocean Pollution Video

This video explains the negative
impacts of human pollution on
the ocean environment. This is a
very informative video that will
allow students to understand
concepts of pollution and its
negative effects onto the ocean,
as well as have them reflect
upon their own actions in terms
of recycling practices.

This video features underwater
footage of the Pacific Ocean. I
would have the students take
mental observations on the
different types of fish, foliage,
and anything else they see. This
video allows the children to see
an actual depiction from under
the sea.

impact on the environment,
particularly in the oceans.
This is an opportunity for
students to realize that their
actions affect the
environment in an
informative, yet engaging,
way.

7. Ocean Conservancy Blog
 The Ocean Conservancy works to protect the ocean
and help other environmental challenges. Its blog
contains constant updated news article, images, and
facts about the ocean. It would be a great resource
for students to gain knowledge from as well as realize
that research on oceans is still growing and
expanding every single day!

 This website is a government-run website by the U.S.
Dept. of Commerce, the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, and the National Ocean
Service. It provides educational resources concerning
the topic of oceans for different grade levels.

9. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute Website
 The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is a non-
profit organization dedicated to the research of
oceans. It contains a plethora of research in articles
on various topics concerning the ocean, which could
help students have more sources for information.

NASA Climate Kids Website
 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA,
has a section of their website dedicated to informative articles
about the ocean environment and how it contributes to our
Earth. NASA also has a special website that is kid-friendly, so it
delivers information on oceans in an easy way—perfect for
students!

11.  The use of reputable websites (i.e.- those from a
government source [.gov], university [.edu], or non-
profit [.org]) was constant throughout such research
in order to maintain its reliability.
 All the information on these sites were checked to be
up to date and nothing was controversial nor
inappropriate for school-aged children.

 This website has a variety of resources for teachers to

about oceans, which would be really helpful for this
topic!
