General Basic Guidelines
(1) Things are, by default, permissible, unless there is
evidence to the contrary
“And He has made subservient to you whatsoever is in the
heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, all, from
Himself;” (Quran 45: ‫)3ض‬

He has brought forth for His

• Say: Tell me what Allah has ‫أنذن لكم أم رعل ى ال تفترون يوفنس‬

sent down for you of
sustenance, then you make (a

part) of it unlawful and (a part) – ‫يمالك، الشافعي، الربيع بن خيثم‬
lawful. Say: Has Allah ‫الخوف يمن التحريم والقول‬
commanded you, or do you
forge a lie against Allah? ‫بالحريمة‬

(4) When easing, account for the
spread of predicaments

If you ask me who my God is: ‘He’s the God of us all' ‫رحيم‬
'Allah, the Merciful’ ‫إن سألتم عن كتابي فهو قرآن‬
If you ask me what my Book is that I hold in my hand ‫كريم‬
If you ask me what my Book is: ‘It’s the Holy Qur’an, ‫إن سألتم عن نبي فهو إنسان عظيم‬
the Holy Qur’an’ ‫إن سألتم عن عدوي فهو شيطان‬
If you ask me who my Prophet is, I will say, ‘Haven’t ‫رجيم‬
you heard?
His name is Muhammad, Salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa ‫)3(عدم طلب الشهرة‬

A Mercy to the worlds, a Mercy to the worlds’
If you ask me who my enemy is, I will say, ‘Don’t you (3) Not seeking

If you ask me who my enemy is: ‘He’s that same old
Devil, that same old Devil’

Whoever forbids, is forbidding against
70 truthful ones.

either ignorant of the sunnah or hard

‫بغير علم لوي َّخذها هزلوا‬

‫ألولئك لهم عذاب يمهين‬
they ridicule it. They will have
a disgraceful punishment” ‫– لوالذين ل يشهدلون الزلور‬
َ ‫ا َ َّ يِ ا َ ا َ ا َ َوْ ا َ ِضُ ا َ ُّ ا‬
(31:6) ً َ ‫ا َ يِ ا َ ا َ ُّ يِ َّ َوْ يِ ا َ ُّ يِ ا‬
‫لوإذا يمرلوا باللغو يمرلوا كرايما‬
– “And those who not witness ‫– لوالستفزز يم يِ الستطعت يمنهم‬
ْ‫ا َ َوْ ا َ َوْ يِ َوْ ا َن َوْ ا َ ا َ َوْ ا َ يِ َوْ ِضُ َو‬
deception, and if they pass by
what should be dropped from َ ‫ يِ ا َ َوْ يِ ا‬
‫بصوتك‬
speech (laghu) they do so
with dignity” (25:72).
– “And fool those who you can
from them with your voice”

Muslim man asked, “When will this be?” (‫)التريمذ ي‬
He said, “If singing slave girls, and

4.Ibn Abbas narrates that the prophet (‫حرام )البيهقي‬
(pbuh) said: Allah has prohibited on you
the alcoholic drinks, the gambling, the
Kuba, which is the drums and he said:
every intoxicant is prohibited (Al-
Baihaqi)

They are generalities and
appearances to be taken into account ‫.4 ابنصب حجرالهيثمي:صب أنكرصب البعضصب سماعصب‬
but not certain evidences. ‫الغناءصب منصب غيرصب تفصيلصب ومنصب أنكرصب أنكرصب‬
4. Ibn Hajar Al-Haithami: Some forbade .‫علىصب سبعينصب صديقا‬
listening to singing without detailing.
Whoever forbids, is forbidding against ‫.5 القرضاوي:صب كلصب ماصب وردصب فيصب الغناءصب‬
70 truthful ones. ‫والموسيقىصب إماصب صحيحصب غيرصب صريحصب أوصب‬
5. Al-Qaradawi: All that is narrated about ‫صريحصب غيرصب صحيح‬
singing music is either authentic
but no clear or clear but not authentic

Dark clouds rumbling, Before the sun sets.
Grabbed the yellow pages under the bed,
I noticed an ad it said, Suddenly I gazed up,
'Indian Summer', '10 Days of Wonder', Upon the rising wave, I
'Paradise is yours for £50!' Saw the sea drawn from the sand
I thought to myself, 'That's it!' I grabbed the wife and kids and ran.
Please God! save us!
Told the wife to pack the bag, Please don't blame us,
Forget about the plans we had For this is the only life we have;
We're going east instead. We'll make it up if we were bad.
She looked at me and shakes her head.
I said, O now baby, The wave was a-pounding as we
I know it sounds crazy, scrambled up the mountain
But this may be the only chance we get. No one even dared to turn their head
We only get one life to live! Just one slip and you're dead!
So we grabbed the kids and some body- As the waves were dying,

She held us tight,
Our guide was there to meet us; We looked far and wide

Ten porters stood up like a wall There was nothing left

The custom man smiled to me
Begs so politely Then came the morning,
Tell me sir, have you any more? A New Year was born
I looked at him and said, that's all. The girl had been with us all night
My wife looked down at her and sighed:
They drove us to the beach house, O my Darling! It's suddenly dawning,
I said, Is this all ours? But just take a look at those eyes
They nodded and rolled out the bed She must be Paradise!
