2. MOST MEMORABLE – PRESIDENT OBAMA’S ELECTION
VICTORY
 I have chosen the topic of President Barack
Obama’s Election victory as most memorable of the
year. I have chosen this as most memorable
because it is the first time in history, in which an
African-American becomes president of the United
States. Furthermore, it proves that the United
States grew from slavery and segregation into
equality for all.

3. MOST AMAZING – MICHAEL PHELPS 8 GOLD
MEDALS
 I think that this event qualifies as Most Amazing of
the year because Michael Phelps won 8 Olympic
Gold medals in Beijing 2008. This broke the
previous record achieved by Mark Spitz (7 Golds in
the Munich 1972).

4. MOST HEROIC – MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON
 I think that the miracle on the Hudson is the most
heroic because it is rare that a pilot is able to crash
land a plane in such a manner that everyone
survives. Furthermore, the emergency response of
the rescue teams was exemplary.

5. BIGGEST SCAM/SCANDAL – MADOFF
 I think that the biggest scam/scandal was done by
Madoff because he conned people out of 65 billion
dollars. Now, his former clients have lost their life
savings and want retribution.

6. MOST CONTROVERSIAL - BAILOUTS
 I think that the bailouts were the most controversial
because American tax dollars from the people were
going to companies trying to stay afloat. Even
though the bailout money was given to the
institutions, it still did not improve the situation as
expected. But, if the bailout wasn’t done, millions of
people would have lost their jobs.
