1751 assessment task 1 A vision of k-12 students today  Forbidden
A vision of K-12 studentstoday This artefact shows to the audience the way that kids are learning today and the ways in which new technology is changing the way they learn. It challenges the old processes and compares them with the views that children have today about learning, and that today’s children are digital natives.
The term digital native refers to the generation of children that have been born into this age of the internet, mobile phones and computers Digital immigrants is the term that refers to the adults nowadays that have to learn about this new technology Even the title suggests that education needs to be reformed for the future generation of learners
The video uses children to convey the main points and the composer has used close- up shots to show the sombre expressions shown by the children The use of rhetoric further develops the composers argument in that teachers need to change, just as technology changes. The composer conveys the dynamic nature of education.
A vision of k-12 education connects strongly to the subject of film making because it gives the audience the opportunity to think about important issues surroundingeducation. An artefact that can engage its audience will leave a lasting impression, the audience is leftleft thinking about the ways in which children learn and the ways that they have been learning in the past.
Forbidden This artefact conveys the importance of family and the concept of belonging, however it is still very useful for students to learn about different camera techniques, plot types and movie genres.  This artefact shows the lives of three generations of women living in the same house; a daughter, a mother and a grandmother.
The composer has used different film techniques including music, high angled shots and lighting to engage the audience in the story.  The composer involves the audience by conveying the grandmother as frail and almost child-like in the way that her daughter has to take care of her. The audience empathises with this family
The artefact connects strongly to its surrounding world because it tells a familiar story that we can relate to, the recurring theme of the artefact is the importance of family. This artefact can contribute to student learning because it shows the audience a variety of film techniques and the composer engages the audience, the composer shows the story instead of telling it.
