2. Both my Mixmag magazine and the Qmagazine that I will be using for inspiration. Both these magazine are published professionally and are very well
known and popular. Mix mag and Qmagazine, have very big and bold masthead, which attracts the reader. Qmagazine has purposely put the
masthead to the top, left side of the page, due to distribution and how they are placed when being sold (Magazines are overlapped and tend to only
have a glance at the left side). The colour red is obviously attracting due to its vibrant colour, whichgrabs the readers attention.Throughout the cover
page there is a clear theme of red, black and white almost seeming as if there is a fight between good and evil. The coverlines are alos very bold and
captute the audience due to the bold text, which informs the reader what will be presented in the magazine. Adele is presented in the front cover and
the image is a close-up, she is portrayed as very confident. In the headline it says “ADELE, BLOW USAWAY” this suggest that she is is very powerful it
links very well to the image which features Adele, and ironically her hair is being blown away, showing her true talent. Her smoky make up shows that
she has this mysterious aura to her. There is also address when the headline has the models name in it ‘ADELE’.The pull indicates the magazines
success which ultimately means that the magazine is trustworthy and entertaining.
In comparison to Mixmag who have also used a big, bright and bold
masthead which is uniquely a pink colour even though it is aimed at both
genders- male and female. The font which has been used is very modern
and has this house style to it.There is a relatively small amount of text on
the front cover. The masthead which is mixmag has been shortened, it is
supposed to be Magazine, the use of slang suggests the target audince -
youth. The colour scheme consists of 3 colours; Pink, white and a blue
colour.
The artist or cover star is staring into the camera capturing the audiences
attention and his face hold no emotion making him look confident and
mysterious. A shadow is covering his eyes to add to his mystery and his
attitude. The cover lines are short but the main cover line isTiga, his name
is mad bold to capture our attention and want to read because he is most
likely vey well known, there is also a plus section on the right hand corner
to give you a little more insight information for the magazine and others
who will be featuring in the magazine. There is also a skyline which says
‘The world’s biggest dance music and club culture magazine’, which
present its popularity and almost puts pressure on the audience to read it
as everyone else seems to be reading it aswell.
3. The house style of Qmagazine has styed the same, the colours have repeated the front cover, black, white and red is consistent.Which
shows the front cover leads on well to the contents page. You can clearly see the Qmagazine masthead which radiates the magazine
confidents as they show the masthead very proudly. There is a good close up of the cover star Adele, who again is looking glancing into the
camera confidently, in this imageAdele’s hair is tied back and her make up seems almost impossible too see, which gives her this truthful/
vulnerable aura but she also maintains this serious and mature expression. The contents page only contains two pictures one being smaller,
the bigger image is used for Adele which can convey that she is a much bigger and popular artist. The connotation on the left side of the
page are very informative, the red colour shows that there is important information, making it easier for the reader to understand, it could
also mean that the stories below will be meaningful. On the left hand side it also says ‘Women in music’ which straight away makes us think
of empowering and inspirational women, who Adele should be a part of. Adele has gained a lot of respect and success due to her amazing
talent as a singer and has solely been based on her natural, raw talent. Like her natural talent in the image her face looks very natural (which
is not actually) which shows that she is a very normal and NATURAL person and that she can relate to the audience.
In the mixmag various images are used to portray
the type of people who will be reading the
magazine and also famous cover stars. The girl
on the left side of the page seems to be out at
night, dancing at a concert, which shows nightlife
which can lead to an article on another page. The
contents of the magazine is put on a double page
(2pages). Like the front cover there is 3 colour
scheme – grey, black and white. The ranfge of
fonts being used in the m,agazine shows that it is
very modern and artistic, the images that are
being used on both sides of the page have no
boarder and seem to look faded into the black
background, which can present that they can get
lost in the music it also has this very urban and
edgy look to it making it stand out. Page number
are also given at the bottom to make is easier for
the reader to navigate the correct page.
