ABOUT CHRISTOPHER:

Christopher, a fifteen-year-old boy with an autistic spectrum condition,
lives with his father, Ed, in Swindon. His mother, Judy, died two years
ago. He is very clever, his memory is excellent and he wants to go to
university because he would like to be an astronaut or a scientist. But
he has a problem: he understands everything except other human
beings. He doesn´t understand the jokes, he finds people confusing
and he can´t tell lies. He likes Maths and “The Hound of the
Baskervilles” is his favorite book so he loves Sherlock Holmes, but he
doesn´t like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the author) because he believed
in the supernatural and Christopher thinks that all the things have an
scientific explication. He hates yellow and brown and he likes red, so if
he see five red cars in a row, it will be a super good day. There are
some special features about him.
PLOT:

Christopher discovered the dead body of
Wellington, the neighbour's dog, speared by a
garden fork. He was hugging the dog when Mrs.
Shears, Wellington´s owner, screamed and
shouted that he let go of the dog. She called the
police and when a policeman touched him,
Christopher hit the policeman, so he was
arrested. His father, Ed, had to go to the police
station and he was released with a caution.

He decided to investigate the dog's death
despite his father's orders to stay out of other
people's business. Moreover he started to write
a murder mystery novel with his experiences.
Christopher thought that he would go and ask some of the other people who lived in
his street if they had seen anything strange happening in the street the night of the
murder, but the neighbours knew nothing. His father told him that he didn´t like Mr.
Shears because he was an evil man, so Christopher suspected that he had left Mrs.
Shears and he could be guilty.

One day, he went to a shop to buy something and Mrs. Alexander, a neighbour, started
to speak with him and finally told him that his mother had a relation with Mr. Shears,
which made Mr. Shears leave his wife.
His father found his book and confiscated it
from Christopher, after a brief fight between them.
He looked for his book and finally he found it in a
box in his father’s bedroom. He also found several
letters to him from his mother, which were dated after
she died. He took one letter and when he read it he
was confused and surprised because his mother wrote
him from London, she lived with a man called Roger
Shears and she had a new job as a secretary
After a few days, he could read more letters
because his father was working. His mother told him
that she argued a lot with his father because
Christopher had behavioral problems and she
realized that they were better without her. Then she
fell in love with Roger, so she decided to go to
London with Roger.

Dear Christopher:
I´m sorry it´s been such a very long time sin ce I wrote my
last letter to you. I´ve been very busy. I,ve got a new job
working as a secretary for a factory that makes things out
of steel . You´d like it a lot.[…] Also we´ve moved into the
new flat at last as you can see from the address. […] You
haven´t written to me yet, so I know that you are probably
still angry witht me .I´m sorry , but I still love you.

Dear Christopher:
I wanted to explain to you why I went away […] I started
spending lots of time with Roger and I started seeing Roger
                                          Love and kisses
on his own […] we realised that we were in love with one
                                          Your Mother
another.
Christopher was in shock! When his father found
him in his bedroom with the letters, he told him that
he wanted to show the letters to him when he was
older. Ed confessed he told him that his mother had
died of a heart attack because he thought it was better
but in that moment he was so sorry. His father told
Christopher all the story. When his mother went with
Roger, Mrs. Shears was very considerate with them
and Ed thought she could live with them, but she
didn´t think in that way, so one day they had an
argument and he killed her dog.
Christopher, having lost all trust in his
father and fearing that Ed may try to kill
him since he had already killed the dog,
                                                ran away. He considered different
possibilities and guided by his mother's
address from the letters, he embarked
on an adventurous trip to London,
because he wanted to live with his
                                                mother.
Christopher was scared because he had
never gone anywhere alone. His fate was
London, but the trip would be an
adventure. He stole his father´s credit
card and he went to the ralway station.

It was the first time he was alone, he felt
giggy and shick so he put his hands over his
ears to block out the noise and think. He
hated lots of people so he said to himself:
“ I will walk down the tunnel and there
might be somewhere I can sit down an then
I can shut my eyes and I can think”.
When he was in the railway station, a
policeman came up to him. He started
to ask him many questions: “ What
are you doing here? When is your
train? Have you got a ticket? Have you
got any money to get a ticket?. He
                                            helped him at the cashpoint.

Then he went to the ticket office and he
said to the man behind the window “I
want to go to London”. Then, he went to
Platform 1, he observed what the other
passengers did… and then he did the
same... He pressed the big button and the
doors slid open and he stepped through
the doors and he said:
“ I was on the train to London”
He had just stopped at London, and
he was scared bacause if the train went
anywhere else it would be somewhere
where he didn´t know anybody. To be
calm, he did some more maths puzzles.

He remembered that there was a
map of the United Kingdlom on
the wall of the classrooms at
school, he pictured it in his head
with his town, Swindom and
London.
He stopped in the next station. He
                            was completely lost, so Christopher
                                  asked at “Information”:

                             -- Is this
                             London?

                             -- YES.
He wanted to go to mum´s house, so he asked for her
                         address:
-- How do I get to 451c Chapter Road,
    London NW2 5NG, Willesden?.

--You have to take the tube to Willesden
     Junction.

But he didn´t know what the tube was, so she had to explain.
First, he watched many people take a ticket and he
memorised what to do. Then he went to the
machine and he saw an alphabetical list of places to
go and there it was:

So he made a plan and it was to go to
Willesden Junction on the Bakerloo Line
The station was crowded and he felt really frightened
. Then, he looked up at the ceiling and he saw:

    2 WILLESDEN JUNCTION 4 MIN
The train stopped at Willesden
Junction and he walked out of the train. He
went up to the man in a little shop and he
asked for the direction: Where is 451c
  Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG?.
         The man didn´t answer so
Christopher picked up a little book “
LONDON AZ Street Atlas and Index
  Geographers A-Z Map Company”.
Christopher had to buy it because the
man didn´t let him touch the book.

He looked his mum’s address up on a
map in the book…
This was the shape of
                   the roads between
                   Willesden Junction
                   and Chapter Road…

And this was his
route…
He started walking and 27 minutes
later, he got to 451c Chapter Road, London
NW2 5NG, he pressed the button that said
Flat C and there was no one in it, so he
decided to wait for his mother.

He sat down on the ground behind
the dustbins in the little garden and suddenly
he heard voices of people walking along the
street. One of these voices was a lady´s voice
and it was his MOTHER´s voice.

He stood up and he said “You
weren´t in , so I waited for you”.
          And his mother said :
“Christopher”, she put her arms around him
and “Christopher,
           said
Christhoper, Christopher”.
They went inside the house, he followed Mr Shears and walked round
the flat to make a map of it in his head so he felt safer. The flat was
like that:

Then, he went to the bathroom to take a bath; mum came into the
bathroom, sat on the toilet and she started to ask him some questions
about these…
And he answered all the questions:

He explained that he had never answered her letters because he didn´t know that
she was alive. He explained that his father told him that mum was dead.

He explained the story of the dog, the book and all this mess.
When he was in the bathroom he heard someone at the door of the flat and there was
a strange man´s voice outside, it was a policeman who wanted to ask him some
questions.
Christopher explained that he ran away because father killed Wellington and he was
frightened of him and Mum added: “My ex-housband told him I was dead”.

The policeman said: “If your husband turns up and causes any trouble,
just give us a ring”.
When he was sleeping he woke up
 because there were people shouting
in the flat, one of the people was
 father and he was frigtened.

 They were shouting because his
 father wanted to see Christopher.
The next morning, Christopher and his mum went to buy some
pyjamas and Christopher said to his mum:

“I HAVE TO GO BACK TO SWINDON, BECAUSE I HAVE TO
DO MY MATHS A LEVEL “

She said that the situation was too
difficult and she had many problems
with his father so it was almost
impossible to go back to Swindon.
He was concerned about his future
exam.
In the end, Christopher went to the exam and
he passed it, which was the best result he had
ever had and it made him feel like this…

                                 His parents reached an agreement
to see Christopher. He sorted out
the situation with his father so all of
                                 them were happy.
Christopher thinks “ I am going to pass it an get an A grade. And in
two years´time I am going to take A level Physics and get an A
grade, and when I´ve done that, I am going to university in another
town and then I will get a First Class Honours Degree and I wil
become a scientist” .
Because, “ I know I can
do this because I went
to London on my own,
and because I solved
the mystery of Who
Killed Wellington? And
I found my mother and
I wrote a book and that

Incident of the dog

  • 2. CHARACTERS: Christopher John Francis Boone: The protagonist of the novel, who investigates the murder of Mrs. Shears' large black poodle. Ed Boone: Christopher's father, a boiler engineer. Up to the beginning of the story, he has been living with Christopher as a single parent for two years. Judy Boone: Christopher's mother. Early in the book, Christopher writes that she died of a heart attack two years before the events told in the book. Siobhan: Christopher's para-professional, friend, and mentor. She teaches him how society works and how to behave within its complex guidelines. Mr. Jeavons: the psychologist at Christopher's school. Mr. Roger Shears: One of the neighbours who lived near the Boones, but left his wife before the story begins.
  • 3. Mrs. Eileen Shears: Mr. Shears' wife, who attempts to console Ed for a time after Christopher learns of his mother's death. Mrs. Alexander: an old lady (one of Christopher's neighbours) who offers information to help Christopher's investigation regarding his parents and Mr. and Mrs. Shears. Wellington: Mrs. Shears' large black poodle, which Christopher finds dead in her garden, with a garden fork sticking out of him. Reverend Peters: the reverend of Christopher's local church. Rhodri: One Ed's friends who works with him in the boiler business. Toby: Christopher's pet rat. Julie: Christopher's aide before Siobhan.
  • 4. ABOUT CHRISTOPHER: Christopher, a fifteen-year-old boy with an autistic spectrum condition, lives with his father, Ed, in Swindon. His mother, Judy, died two years ago. He is very clever, his memory is excellent and he wants to go to university because he would like to be an astronaut or a scientist. But he has a problem: he understands everything except other human beings. He doesn´t understand the jokes, he finds people confusing and he can´t tell lies. He likes Maths and “The Hound of the Baskervilles” is his favorite book so he loves Sherlock Holmes, but he doesn´t like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the author) because he believed in the supernatural and Christopher thinks that all the things have an scientific explication. He hates yellow and brown and he likes red, so if he see five red cars in a row, it will be a super good day. There are some special features about him.
  • 5.
  • 6. PLOT: Christopher discovered the dead body of Wellington, the neighbour's dog, speared by a garden fork. He was hugging the dog when Mrs. Shears, Wellington´s owner, screamed and shouted that he let go of the dog. She called the police and when a policeman touched him, Christopher hit the policeman, so he was arrested. His father, Ed, had to go to the police station and he was released with a caution. He decided to investigate the dog's death despite his father's orders to stay out of other people's business. Moreover he started to write a murder mystery novel with his experiences.
  • 7. Christopher thought that he would go and ask some of the other people who lived in his street if they had seen anything strange happening in the street the night of the murder, but the neighbours knew nothing. His father told him that he didn´t like Mr. Shears because he was an evil man, so Christopher suspected that he had left Mrs. Shears and he could be guilty. One day, he went to a shop to buy something and Mrs. Alexander, a neighbour, started to speak with him and finally told him that his mother had a relation with Mr. Shears, which made Mr. Shears leave his wife.
  • 8. His father found his book and confiscated it from Christopher, after a brief fight between them. He looked for his book and finally he found it in a box in his father’s bedroom. He also found several letters to him from his mother, which were dated after she died. He took one letter and when he read it he was confused and surprised because his mother wrote him from London, she lived with a man called Roger Shears and she had a new job as a secretary After a few days, he could read more letters because his father was working. His mother told him that she argued a lot with his father because Christopher had behavioral problems and she realized that they were better without her. Then she fell in love with Roger, so she decided to go to London with Roger.
  • 9. Christopher Boone Mum´s adress 36 Randolph Street 451c Chapter Road Swindon Willesden Wiltshire London NW2 5NG 0208 887 8907 Dear Christopher: I´m sorry it´s been such a very long time sin ce I wrote my last letter to you. […] You haven´t written to me yet, so I know that you are probably still angry witht me .I´m sorry , but I still love you. Dear Christopher: I wanted to explain to you why I went away […] I started spending lots of time with Roger and I started seeing Roger Love and kisses on his own […] we realised that we were in love with one Your Mother another. x x x x x x
  • 10. Christopher was in shock! When his father found him in his bedroom with the letters, he told him that he wanted to show the letters to him when he was older. Ed confessed he told him that his mother had died of a heart attack because he thought it was better but in that moment he was so sorry. His father told Christopher all the story. When his mother went with Roger, Mrs. Shears was very considerate with them and Ed thought she could live with them, but she didn´t think in that way, so one day they had an argument and he killed her dog. Christopher, having lost all trust in his father and fearing that Ed may try to kill him since he had already killed the dog, ran away. He considered different possibilities and guided by his mother's address from the letters, he embarked on an adventurous trip to London, because he wanted to live with his mother.
  • 11. Christopher was scared because he had never gone anywhere alone. His fate was London, but the trip would be an adventure. He stole his father´s credit card and he went to the ralway station. It was the first time he was alone, he felt giggy and shick so he put his hands over his ears to block out the noise and think. He hated lots of people so he said to himself: “ I will walk down the tunnel and there might be somewhere I can sit down an then I can shut my eyes and I can think”.
  • 12. When he was in the railway station, a policeman came up to him. He started to ask him many questions: “ What are you doing here? When is your train? Have you got a ticket? Have you got any money to get a ticket?. He helped him at the cashpoint. Then he went to the ticket office and he said to the man behind the window “I want to go to London”. Then, he went to Platform 1, he observed what the other passengers did… and then he did the same... He pressed the big button and the doors slid open and he stepped through the doors and he said: “ I was on the train to London”
  • 13. He had just stopped at London, and he was scared bacause if the train went anywhere else it would be somewhere where he didn´t know anybody. To be calm, he did some more maths puzzles. He remembered that there was a map of the United Kingdlom on the wall of the classrooms at school, he pictured it in his head with his town, Swindom and London.
  • 14. He stopped in the next station. He was completely lost, so Christopher asked at “Information”: -- Is this London? -- YES. He wanted to go to mum´s house, so he asked for her address: -- How do I get to 451c Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG, Willesden?. --You have to take the tube to Willesden Junction. But he didn´t know what the tube was, so she had to explain.
  • 15. First, he watched many people take a ticket and he memorised what to do. Then he went to the machine and he saw an alphabetical list of places to go and there it was: So he made a plan and it was to go to Willesden Junction on the Bakerloo Line The station was crowded and he felt really frightened . Then, he looked up at the ceiling and he saw: 2 WILLESDEN JUNCTION 4 MIN
  • 16. The train stopped at Willesden Junction and he walked out of the train. He went up to the man in a little shop and he asked for the direction: Where is 451c Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG?. The man didn´t answer so Christopher picked up a little book “ LONDON AZ Street Atlas and Index Geographers A-Z Map Company”. Christopher had to buy it because the man didn´t let him touch the book. He looked his mum’s address up on a map in the book…
  • 17. This was the shape of the roads between Willesden Junction and Chapter Road… And this was his route…
  • 18. He started walking and 27 minutes later, he got to 451c Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG, he pressed the button that said Flat C and there was no one in it, so he decided to wait for his mother. He sat down on the ground behind the dustbins in the little garden and suddenly he heard voices of people walking along the street. One of these voices was a lady´s voice and it was his MOTHER´s voice. He stood up and he said “You weren´t in , so I waited for you”. And his mother said : “Christopher”, she put her arms around him and “Christopher, said Christhoper, Christopher”.
  • 19. They went inside the house, he followed Mr Shears and walked round the flat to make a map of it in his head so he felt safer. The flat was like that: Then, he went to the bathroom to take a bath; mum came into the bathroom, sat on the toilet and she started to ask him some questions about these…
  • 20. And he answered all the questions: He explained that he had never answered her letters because he didn´t know that she was alive. He explained that his father told him that mum was dead. He explained the story of the dog, the book and all this mess.
  • 21. When he was in the bathroom he heard someone at the door of the flat and there was a strange man´s voice outside, it was a policeman who wanted to ask him some questions. Christopher explained that he ran away because father killed Wellington and he was frightened of him and Mum added: “My ex-housband told him I was dead”. The policeman said: “If your husband turns up and causes any trouble, just give us a ring”. When he was sleeping he woke up because there were people shouting in the flat, one of the people was father and he was frigtened. They were shouting because his father wanted to see Christopher.
  • 22. The next morning, Christopher and his mum went to buy some pyjamas and Christopher said to his mum: “I HAVE TO GO BACK TO SWINDON, BECAUSE I HAVE TO DO MY MATHS A LEVEL “ She said that the situation was too difficult and she had many problems with his father so it was almost impossible to go back to Swindon. He was concerned about his future exam.
  • 23. In the end, Christopher went to the exam and he passed it, which was the best result he had ever had and it made him feel like this… His parents reached an agreement to see Christopher. He sorted out the situation with his father so all of them were happy.
  • 24. Christopher thinks “ I am going to pass it an get an A grade. And in two years´time I am going to take A level Physics and get an A grade, and when I´ve done that, I am going to university in another town and then I will get a First Class Honours Degree and I wil become a scientist” .
  • 25. Because, “ I know I can do this because I went to London on my own, and because I solved the mystery of Who Killed Wellington? And I found my mother and I wrote a book and that
