Data instruction
◦ Finding government statistics and data
◦ Using subscription databases such as ICPSR
Data consultations
◦ One-on-one assistance distinguishing between sources of data for research
projects.

Policies
◦ Assist users in acquiring freely available data in conjunction with
the library liaison.
◦ Attempt to purchase data sets for UNCG researchers dependent
upon funding and the Library’s ability to comply with license and
use restrictions.
◦ Methodological questions or data analysis/interpretation are not
in the scope of the Library's Data Services.
◦ The Library does not support GIS but offers GIS-lite products such
as SimplyMap.

Getting Started
 Use literature searches in PsychINFO to isolate possible
quantitative studies.
 Keep in mind not all of that data will be available.
 Look for large studies.
 Be flexible with time frame.
 Try specific government agencies
